After returning together to the Jenson residence, they parted ways in the back alleys.
Nico made his way back to his own vi. Summer had probably prepared dinner already and was
waiting for him to return home.
Cedrick returned to Harrick Vi. He had already made it a habit to prepare a warm meal before
Gwendolyn arrived home, so they could enjoy it together.
Gwendolyn was busy managing matters at Harris Group and helping Treyton care for Jennifer.

Confused, he turned around and found Gwendolyn seated on the edge of the bed. Grasping the shirt

“Darling?” he called out cautiously.

Left with no time to think, he flung the towel onto the table and strode toward Gwendolyn. He
unwrapped the towel that was tied tightly around his waist and knelt on the bed, naked.
A chillgust of air brushed against him, causing a slight shiver. Feeling a tinge of embarrassment, he
hastily covered himself with the towel again. A sincere look crossed his face.
“Darling. I’ve been good the entire day. I didn’t do anything wrong, nor did I lie to you. Don’t frame me
for something I didn’t do!”
Gwendolyn sat cross-legged on the bed in front of him. She pointed at his arm, gesturing for him to
extend it.
“There isn’t anything wrong with my sense of smell. I’m not framing you. If you can’t remember, let the
pain jog your memory.”
Trying his best to understand what she was trying to say, Cedrick stretched out his arm slowly.
Gwendolyn’s eyes zed with anger as she brandished the ruler.
Before it descended, Cedrick swiftly retracted his hand. “I remember now. Are you saying that you
smell cigarette smoke on me?”
Gwendolyn’s lips curled into a scornful smirk. “It seems like your mind is still functional. Your fear of the
punishment is making you think quickly.”
Cedrick furrowed his brow, feeling wronged. “Darling, 1 felt really frustrated from the investigation
today. so I lit a cigarette out of habit. However, I didn’t even take a single puff. I passed it to Nico and
instructed him to smoke in a corner. Perhaps, the smell of smoke clung to me because we were in the
same room. Trust me, Darling. I’m not lying to you.”
Gwendolyn’s stern countenance remained unyielding. She was quick to detect the loophole in his

“So, you willingly lit the cigarette. However, your conscience kicked in at the most critical moment.
Afraid that I’ll find out, you gave the cigarette to Nico, right?”
Cedrick was at a loss for words. So this is the notorious reasoning that women have!
He frowned even further as a wave of indignance swept over him. He stretched his hands out toward
her sulkily.
“Well, if you think that I’m wrong, punish me harshly. In fact, just break my hands so that I can’t even
hold a pen or a fork. That way, everyone in the Federal Bureau of Investigation would find out tomorrow
that I’ve been punished.”

As he had just finished showering, he waspletely naked. Now that she was staring at him
unabashedly while being fully clothed, he felt a bit embarrassed.
Usually, he was the one seducing her. Since it was rare for Gwendolyn to witness him feeling so shy, a
teasing look appeared in her eyes.
She raised the ruler.
With a soft smack, a faint pink mark surfaced on Cedrick’s thigh.
She poked it with the ruler and smirked yfully. “How does it feel? Enjoyable?”
Judging from her expression and tone, Cedrick knew that she wasn’t angry.
He repliedpliantly. “Since it’s a gift from my wife, I’m naturally happy.”
Gwendolyn smiled and tossed the ruler back onto the bedside table.
Seeing that she had put it aside, Cedrick was about to retract his hand when Gwendolyn reacted
swiftly. She quickly tied his hands together with his shirt and pushed him down.
She pounced on him, her eyes gleaming with a cunning look. It was as if she was looking at
disobedient.

“Since you’ve vited the family rules and been so disobedient, you deserve to be punished.”
Cedrick nodded. “I agree.”
Gwendolyn chuckled lightly and continued, “Well, I see that you’vee to your senses and corrected
yourself in time. Nevertheless, I’ll give you the harshest punishment tonight!”
Cedrick sighed silently and looked down in resignation. “I ept it.”
She suppressed herughter. “Good. Since you’re being obedient, I’ll be forceful with you tonight. I
want to be on top.
Cedrick woke up the next day feeling refreshed and invigorated, relishing the previous night.
He nced at Gwendolyn, who was still asleep and exhausted. He bent down carefully and kissed her
forehead.
After savoring the sweet kiss, he quickly got out of bed and freshened up. Then, he changed his
clothes.

Nico, making an effort to keep up with his pace, arrived at the Jenson residence’s garage at the same

After half an hour, the luxurious car finally pulled up at the entrance of the Newton residence.
Cedrick was not wearing his military uniform. Instead, he was conducting the investigation in his casual
attire.
Neville’s well-trained soldiers were standing beside the door orderly, having been waiting there for quite
some time.
Cedrick strode forward with his gaze fixed ahead. He instructed, “Search every room in the Newton
residence. Leave no corner untouched, especially the top floor, Craig’s room, and Charles’ room.
“Understood”.
Without wasting a moment, the team swiftly entered the Newton mansion and started searching
carefully.
Nico, still feeling worried, decided to join the search on the top floor.
Following Nico’s instructions, Karl gathered all the housekeepers and guards in the garden so that they
would not disrupt the investigation.
After an intense search thatsted for over ten minutes, Nico returned ahead of the others.
He approached Cedrick with a solemn expression. Leaning in close, he whispered, “Cedrick, we can’t
even find a single suspicious iron chain or shackle on the top floor. It looks like Craig had already
cleaned up the scene beforehand. I’m afraid we might have to go back without finding out anything.
There isn’t any progress.”
