    Chester came out of the guest room and saw Liam standing at the end of the corridor. He walked over


    to greet him, “Liam, long time no see.”


    Liam stopped and didn’t reply.


    Chester didn’t find it awkward and continued. Tve been busy and couldn’t attend your grandma’s


    birthday party. How is she doing?”


    Just as Celeste wasing out of the bathroom, she heard Chester’s voice.


    His greetings were outdated, after all, the birthday party had been a while ago.


    She didn’t want to interrupt them, so she stayed out of sight and listened


    Liam answered simply. “She’s okay.”


    Chester continued, “A few days ago, my mom had coffee with your mom. She told my mom that she


    had a cyst ording to her medical check–up. She’s lost a lot


    of weight and kept mentioning you, as if she’s womed about you not having anyone to take care of you”


    Celeste’s expression becameplicated She’d been busy with work and hadn’t heard from Skyler for


    a while.


    She knew Skyler had moved out of the Reed family’s house, but she hadn’t asked Liam about it.


    She’d heard from Mrs Kelley that Skyler had rented a house in their neighborhood, apparently because


    she’d been kicked out by the Barlow family


    She was busy at the time and hadn’t asked for details.


    Now it seemed Skyler was desperate and was trying to y the sympathy card to get Liam to take her


    back


    And Chester was obviously here to help Skyler.

    Chester exined, “I heard it from my mom. She’s also concerned about your mom’s health. If you

    away.”

    When she was almost done removing her makeup, she put down the mirror and saw Liam tilting his


    head, staring at her.


    “Awake? Celeste whispered


    Liam gently closed his lips, “I wasn’t asleep.”


    “So you heard me getting in the car and ignored me?”
