Just as Celeste was about to reply, she heard Mason’s voice from behind. “I thought you were drunk”
Celeste turned around andughed, saying. I’m surrounded by big shots here. I can’t drink when they
toast. So, I had to pretend to be drunk.” She paused and asked, “Why are
you out here?”
Mason replied softly “Mr. Javier noticed you’ve been gone for a while and was worried something might
have happened. So, he sent me to check on you.”
Celeste said, ‘I’m fine. I just want to go home”

This was a gathering of big shots, not a party among friends she knew. She couldn’t just leave without
saying goodbye.
She figured once she went back in, she’d get tied down and wouldn’t be able to leave.

As they walked, they discussed how to performter and soon faded into the distance.
When ire came out of the restroom, Kaylee was looking worriedly at her phone.
She and Liam had somehow switched seats, and now Kaylee was sitting next to her
