    Chapter 441

Caitlyny there quietly, wearing an oxygen mask. There was no visible misting from the mask,

and the numbers on the monitor beside her had dropped to an extreme low.

She was so thin that she seemed to blend into the operating table.

All of this told her that the person on this bed was nearing the end of her life.

    Celeste held Caitlyn’s hand.

Caitlyn had beautiful handwriting, so she often had calluses on her middle finger from gripping a pen.

When Caitlyn was healthy, she wasn’t particrly thin, so her hands had some flesh. But now, her

hand was so thin that it seemed to be just bones, with needle marks and protruding veins on the back

of her hand, looking very different from how she remembered.

It had been six years and eight months since the car ident, and Caitlyn’s white hair had grown a lot.

She used to care a lot about her appearance, so maybe she didn’t want to wake up and see herself like

    this.

Celeste bent down to help Caitlyn arrange her hair.

Trisha watched this scene, unable to hold back her tears. She whispered, “Celeste, let Aunt Trisha do

    it.”

Celeste’s fingers trembled, and she softly agreed. Then, she removed Caitlyn’s oxygen mask.

The numbers on the machine slowly dropped to zero, and the machine let out a sharp sound.

The nurse came over and said, “Take care,” then slowly covered Caitlyn’s face with a white cloth.

She then told Celeste to get the paperwork done in the next couple of days and remove the body, as

there wasn’t much space in the hospital morgue. She immediately pushed the body away.

Celeste didn’t cry or lose control.

After softly thanking the nurse, she settled ounts with the medical staff. Then, she went to Caitlyn’s

room to start packing up her things.

    She appeared calm andposed.

Caitlyn had either been lying in bed or wearing a hospital gown. There were even no clothes in the

ward, just some towels and a washbasin for washing, as well as some cassette tapes and an old tape

    recorder on the table.

Although her mother had been in this hospital room for so many years, there

    much to pack up.

Celeste put the tapes into her bag as if nothing had happened.

The calmer she was, the more worried Trisha became. She wished Celeste would just cry because she

was too calm, and it made her uneasy. “Celeste, you don’t have to pack up in a hurry,” Mason came

forward and gently pressed her hand holding the bag. “Sit down and rest for a while. We’ll help you

    pack.”

Trisha agreed, “Mr. Fletcher is right, Letti. Take a break.”Property ? N?velDrama.Org.

Celeste pushed his hand away, lowered her head, and whispered, “I’m fine, Mr. Fletcher. I’m afraid I

won’t be able to talk to you today.”

Mason said, “It’s okay. We can talk when you’re done.”

Celeste nodded her thanks and continued, “It’s gettingte. You should go home. Trisha’spany is

    enough for me.”

Mason suddenly felt a bit embarrassed. After all, Celeste had just lost her mother, and at this moment,

Liam should have been by her side, not a stranger like him.

Mason whispered, “I’ll get in touch with Liam as soon as possible, and if you need any help, just hit me

up.” He paused for a moment, then added, “I hope your mom can rest in peace up in heaven.”

Celeste softly replied to him and then stayed quiet.

However, Mason was still a bit worried, so he told Trisha a few things, gave her his cell number, and

asked her to arrange the funeral stuff quickly. If anything came up, she should contact him right away.

Trisha agreed to him, and as she walked Mason to the door, she heard a noiseing from the ward.

She turned her head and her face changed instantly, “Letti!”
