Chapter 425
Chapter 425
Celeste’s face changed suddenly, “ine, you stop them first and don’t let them hurt my mom. I’ll be
right there.”
After hanging up the phone, she said to Zach, “Mr. Miller, I need to take a leave.”
Zach had already heard the content on the phone.
Having worked together for a while, he had some understanding of Celeste’s family situation, knowing
that her mom was in aa in the hospital and needed long term medication.
This belongs to N?velDrama.Org - ?.
Despite her family’s problems, she never dyed their shooting and was one of the most receptive
actors to their guidance Zach quite liked her
So he said, “Go ahead. We’re almost done for today anyway. We need to change scenes for the rest of
the shoot, so it can wart
Celeste left after saying goodbye. She changed out of her costume but didn’t remove her makeup
before rushing to Mercy Hospital
At Mercy Hospital, several oddly dressed thugs were gathered at Caitlyn’s ward. The leader, a tall and
burly man, had a scar running from theer of his left eye to his scalp that revealed his ruthlessness.
Three other men stood behind him, dressed like street thugs, wearing earrings and eyebrow piercings.
They looked so intimidating that bystanders dared not pass by.
ine feared that they would tamper with Caitlyn’s medical equipment, so she stood in front of the
hospital bed to protect it. The medical staff stayed far away, except for the nurse responsible for the
ward who tried to negotiate with the thugs, as their presence was causing a negative impact on the
hospital and other patients.
The man in the lead coldlyughed, “We didn’t want this either, but someone owes us money. It’s been
years, and they haven’t paid us back. All we want is some justice.”
The nurse nervously said, “But you can’t just remove someone’s venttor! That could be life-
threatening!”
“They have money for medical treatment but not to pay us back, so I have to do something.” the man
nced at the medical equipment in the room. “Her heartbeat seems just fine.”
“You should go after the person who owes you money! If you keep causing trouble here, we’ll call the
police!”
The man’s eyes sank, and he chuckled coldly, “Go ahead. We have nothing to hide.”
The nurse tried to call the police, but her phone was snatched away and smashed against a wall by
one of the thugs.
Feeling victorious, the thug imed, “I’d like to see who dares call the cops today!”
“I do!” A cold female voice came from the crowd. Celeste marched through the people to face the
leader with a serious face.
“Who are you and who allowed you to cause trouble here?”
The leader eyed her, “Who are you?”
Celeste replied solemnly, “Caitlyn is my mother.”
The man looked at Celeste’s outfit and designer bags before smirking, “Then we’ve found the right
person,” He took out a stack of IOUS from his ck leather bag. “These are the debts your mother
owes us. As her daughter, you have to pay them.”
Celeste frowned, took the IOUS, and noticed that each had varying amounts, some as little as tens of
thousands, and others in millions, all featuring Caitlyn’s personal signature and fingerprints.
She abruptly tore up the IOUS and said, “These were not signed by my mom.” She then demanded,
“Move out of my way!”
The man’s face changed, “You think it’s that easy to deny responsibility?”
“If you pay off the debt today, we’ll leave right away. Otherwise, we’ll have a problem here. It looks like
you have afortable life, so we may as well stick around until the money is paid off. Just remember,
my guys here are not as patient as me. Who knows if your mom will make it out of here in one piece?”
Clearly, these thugs were not something Celeste could dismiss easily.
He continued, “You don’t seem like you’re broke. Your mom’s hospital room alone costs tens of
thousands per day. Any ordinary person would be bankrupt within a month or two, but she has been
here for seven years. If you still im to have no money, that’s just not believable.”
Celeste furrowed her brow, “If you knew she’s been in the hospital all this time, why didn’t youe for
the money earlier?”
The man nced at her, “I didn’te earlier because someone was paying the interest. As long as
someone does, we don’t worry. Now, no one’s paying, so what am I supposed to do?”
“Who paid the interest before?” she asked.
“Shawn.”
“Then go find him!”
“He has already divorced from your mom now. Why would he pay the interest for her?”
