    “Nothing much,” Liam replied briefly. “Just bumped into a few troublemakers while drinking, and a


    conflict started.”


    “What kind of conflict results in someone getting injured like this? Where’s the person who hurt you


    now?”


    “Mom, I can handle this on my own. Don’t worry about it.”


    Skyler was unhappy. “How can I not worry? Look at the state you’re in! I didn’t even find out about your


    ident until this afternoon. If someone was taking care of you and I could feel reassured, that would


    be fine. But you were alone in the hospital all night with no one to even bring you water or food. How


    am I supposed to feel at ease?”
