    Jackson nced sideways at Lucas.


    Lucas, seemingly aware of this, shifted his gaze to meet Jackson’s eyes.


    The two men’s eyes met in mid–air. There seemed to be a silent battle going on between them.


    Suddenly, the corner of Jackson’s mouth curled into a smile. He reached out and wrapped his hand


    around Serenity’s


    shoulders, leaned down to move his face close to hers, and softly repeated his previous question,


    “What did you say you would let her have?”


    That stung Lucas.


    Jackson… was doing it on purpose!


    Was he deliberately acting intimate with Serenity to tell other people to stop having funny ideas about


    her?


    It left a bitter taste in Lucas‘ mouth.


    He could not believe that he would actually fancy another man’s fiancée.


    He had nevercked for women. He had never bothered to hit on women who already had significant


    others.


    All the women he had been involved with had done so willingly.


    However… Serenity was an exception.

    Serenity felt Jackson’s warmth wrap around herself.


    He was so close that when she raised her eyes, she could clearly see his eyshes. “This gown. My


    cousin already had her eye on it and came here today to try it on. It’s okay, she can have it. I’ll just


    choose another one.”


    Serenity was already blushing. Jackson straightened up and said with a smile, “Whatever you say.”


    Serenity walked up to Lte and told her, “I’ll change out of the gown right away.”


    Lte could only grit her teeth silently. She got her gown, but she felt like she lost.

    Lucas looked at Jackson’s and Serenity’s intertwined hands with aplicated expression. Earlier,


    when Serenity casually said she would let Lte have the dress, he felt a pang of pain in his heart, as


    if she was casually giving him away too.

    Why would he feel like that?!


    Their rtionship wasn’t so close that he was hers to give away.
