    He hugged her so tightly that she could hardly breathe.


    “I’m not… not…” she said with difficulty.

    of Lucas‘ arms. The next moment, she heard the sound of a fist hitting someone, followed by a muffled

    Serenity panted heavily. Jackson’s face appeared before her.


    Jack was the one who pulled her out of Lucas‘ arms! Serenity stared at Jackson in a bit of a daze,


    wondering what he was doing there.


    Jackson was currently staring at Lucas, whom he had just punched to the ground, with a solemn face.


    Lucas was leaning against a shelf. The area around him was in a mess due to the impact of his fall.


    Blood slowly trickled down the corner of his mouth, showing that Jackson definitely did not hold back.

    “Do you know what you’re doing right now?” Jackson asked furiously. His ice–cold voice was like a


    bone–chilling wind. It would send shivers down the spine of anyone who heard him.


    However, Lucas looked Jackson right in the eye and replied with a smile, “I know.”


    “You know? And you still did it? Lucas, do you want the Gomez family and the Valor family to be


    enemies?” Jackson questioned him arrogantly.


    Lucas wiped the blood from his mouth and slowly stood back up, “Jackson, you know I’ve always been


    looking for someone. Serenity is most likely the person I’m looking for.”


    Jackson’s pupils shrunk abruptly and his body stiffened. “What kind of nonsense are you saying?”


    Lucas did not answer his question. Instead, he turned to Serenity who was by Jackson’s side and


    asked her, “Don’t you remember? You saved a boy years ago while wearing a simr floral dress. You


    could have left him behind, but you insisted on carrying him and helping him get to safety! You asked


    him to trust you, to trust that you could definitely carry him out of that mountain


    Serenity looked at Lucas doubtfully. She did have a simr floral dress when she was a child, but she


    had no recollection of what he said at all.


    “Enough!” Jackson shouted and pulled Serenity behind him.


    Things were quickly moving out of his control. He was caught a little off guard. The person Serenity


    loved right now might not be Lucas, but…….


    “What? Are you scared? Scared that she really might be the person I’m looking for?” said Lucas as he


    took a step closer.


    Jackson pursed his lips and red at Lucas with cold eyes.


    Lucas was right he was indeed scared!


    He was scared of Serenity finding out that she was indeed the person Lucas had been searching for. It


    was a truth that he had been hiding from her.


    Jackson gripped Serenity’s hand so hard that it was starting to hurt.


    He gripped her hand so tightly. His hand… was trembling non–stop, as if it was quietly informing her


    that he was panicking.


    She never expected that there woulde a day when his hand would tremble like this when it was


    holding hers.


    Serenity took a deep breath and held Jackson’s trembling hand.
