Chapter 431
Chapter 431
Serenity held her breath when she saw his expression.
Wait a minute… Was he… Angry?
“You said you wanted to support yourself, that you’d rather continue delivering food for that restaurant
than relying on me. I’ll ept that.” Jackson took a deep breath before he continued, “However, isn’t it
quite normal for a man to buy little gifts for his girlfriend? Are you treating me as a boyfriend at all?”
Serenity hit her lip nervously. At that moment, she was lost for words.
“I understand that you don’t wish to rely on me, but that doesn’t mean you have to reject everything I
give you,” said Jackson.
He wanted her to live a good life and to stop being such a penny-pincher. Of course, he understood
that she had developed this personality due to her experience. He knew that it would take time for her
to change
But… the frustration that he so desperately tried to suppress still made its way out.
However, the frustration was directed more at himself than her.
If only he had intervened back then. He thought that if he had defended her, Serenity wouldn’t have
turned out like this today.
Her life had been shattered by his hands. She used to be awyer with a bright future, but he had
turned her into a person
with
a criminal record, which made it impossible to find a job. It was he who had taught her what it meant to
live in poverty, where every dor counted.
Serenity took in a deep breath and said to Jackson, “Alright, I understand. Could you please get me a
scrunchie?”
Now that she thought about it, she realized how she had drawn a firm boundary between them. She
had initially done this to avoid repeating her past mistake. She didn’t want to be a parasite, but
someone who was self-sufficient, N?vel/Dr(a)ma.Org - Content owner.
But now, their positions had changed. She was now his girlfriend, and there was no longer the need to
maintain such firm boundaries. In fact, it would only be detrimental to their rtionship going forward as
she woulde across as overly
distant.
Jackson brought her to the nearby stalls, but none of the essories on sale were to his liking. In the
end, they went over to the shopping mall next to the market where there was a special kiosk selling hair
essories.
Serenity looked around and found that even the most basic ck scrunchie cost 15 dors each.
Although its quality was good, it was too pricey for a simple scrunchie.
Jackson looked at the scrunchie, and after confirming that it was the best one on offer, he said
reluctantly, “I’ll take ten of these, please.”
“Ten?!” Serenity was shocked. Ten of these scrunchies would cost 150 dors!
“Weren’t you gonna buy ten earlier?” he asked.
Serenity was speechless. She had wanted to buy ten scrunchies earlier because it would only cost 2
dors for all of them. They were much cheaper if she bought them in bulk.
Feeling dissatisfied with the quantity, Jackson got the shopkeeper to pick out a number of hair
essories for them. “Is there anything that catches your eye?” he asked.
Like any other girl, Serenity had an eye for pretty things. It went without saying that she liked these
essories, but…
“They’re too expensive. I don’t really need them, given my work environment.”
To wear these essories properly, she would have to wear a matching outfit.
“Then you can wear them for other asions,” Jackson said. “As for the price, don’tin about it
unless it’s worth more than half my worth.
