    “Why should I apologize?!” Joy protested indignantly.


    In the meantime, a crowd had started to form around them. Some of the onlookers recognized Jenny.


    After all, Jenny was popr celebrity. Even though most of her face was covered by her sunsses


    and hat, some people could still recognize her.


    “It’s Jenny Hall! And 1 think the guy next to her is her fiancé!”


    “What are they doing here?”


    “What’s happening at the esctor? Is there an ident?”


    Whispers rose among the crowd. Lisa helped Serenity walk down the esctor, Zeke saw this and


    went after them.


    A hint of surprise shed across Jenny’s eyes. She could not believe that Zeke would actually ditch her


    to go after Serenity! To make matters worse, the crowd around Jenny started to gossip after seeing


    that.

    Jenny felt humiliated. She shielded her face and left in a hurry with Joy, trying her best to avoid the


    phones that were filming her.


    Meanwhile, Zeke caught up to Serenity. He said anxiously, “Serenity. Joy didn’t do it on purpose. I’ll pay


    for your medical expenses. I’ll pay as much as you want. Please don’t tell anyone about this…”


    “Save it, Zeke Shaw!” Lisa yelled at him indignantly. “Do you honestly expect us to believe that your


    sister didn’t do it on purpose? You Shaws are crazy!”


    She opened the car door and helped her best friend onto the passenger seat, then got onto the driver’s


    seat herself. Zeke mmed the car window repeatedly, trying to get their attention. His face was pale


    and his voice was trembling


    Seeing this, even Lisa believed that Zeke was truly scared, but the question was, what was he scared


    of? That Serenity would sue Joy?


    Even if she did, Joy would only have to pay a bit ofpensation, and the Shaw family had money to


    burn.


    After Lisa drove away with Serenity, Zeke stood motionless. All he could think of was… “it’s over“.


    He did not know what the rtionship between Jackson Valor and Serenity was, but from what he


    could tell, Serenity seemed to be special to Jackson Valor. And now, Serenity had gotten injured


    because of Joy. What would happen to Joy and the Shaw family?…


    Zeke could only try to convince himself that Jackson Valor probably wouldn’t do anything to the Shaw


    family for someone like Serenity Lewis… right?


    R–Right? He could not help recalling the way Jackson Valor called Serenity “Sis” There was a


    tenderness in his voice that Zeke had never heard from him before.


    Lisa took Serenity to the hospital. They went straight to the emergency room and were now waiting to


    get an X–ray scan.


    Serenity did not say anything, but Lisa could tell from her expression that she was in a lot of pain.


    She did not know when it started, but her best friend would not even groan anymore even if she was in


    great pain,


    Was it because of what she experienced in prison? Because she had been through greater pain than


    this, she would no longer groan for this amount of pain?


    When Lisa recalled the bizarre car ident, she felt that there was more to it than met the rye, but she


    had no proof. Lisa saw Serenity taking out her phone, so she asked, “Who are you calling?”
