    He paused as his eyes swept across the two dumbfounded people, “If they leave before that, they’re


    not allowed to step foot in this residence ever again.”


    The father and daughter flinched.


    Jackson’s words undoubtedly meant that, if they left without finding the ring, the Valor family would


    sever all ties with them.


    After Jackson left, Quinton and Jenny looked at each other.


    The pond was not that deep, but its bottom was filled with mud. It was not that big either, but it was still


    about 100 square feet in size. Finding a small ring in that pond was not an easy task.


    Jenny felt like crying. “Daddy, what should we do? Do I really have to go down there to find the ring?


    It’s so cold out there! How can I find the ring by myself?!”


    “You made this mess, so you must clean it up. You know what will happen to the Hall family if the Valor


    family sever ties with us!” Quinton said with a serious expression.


    The future of the Hall family was at stake. He could not indulge his daughter anymore.


    Jenny fell silent. Of course she knew that the Hall family relied on the Valor Group in several major


    business deals. If Jackson Valor cut ties with them, it would be an absolutely devastating blow to the


    Hall family.


    Jenny had no choice but to step into the pond to look for the tiny ring.


    It never crossed her mind that this was Jackson’s revenge for Serenity. Jackson was paying her back


    for what she did to Serenity!

    When Jackson returned to the rental house, Serenity was doingundry.


    Her hands were submerged in cold water. They had turned red from the cold..


    “Why didn’t you use hot water?” he asked with a frown.


    “Heating the water uses a lot of electricity. After being in cold water for a while, my hands will warm up,


    so it’s fine,” said Serenity. She rinsed the clothes one more time and twisted them to squeeze the water


    out.


    He grabbed her hands. They were ice cold.


    “Next time you doundry, use hot water. Don’t mind the electric bill. I’ll earn the money to pay for it,”


    he said.


    Serenityughed. She gently flicked his forehead and said, “We should save money whenever we can.


    We already have to spend money on a lot of things. How did the dinner with your co–workers go?”


    “It was all right,” replied Jackson. Having dinner with his co–workers was the excuse he used. Unless


    he’s mistaken, Jenny Hall should be looking for the ring in the pond right now.


    He wondered how long it would take for Jenny to find it.


    “Looks like it’s grown even longer,” Serenity’s murmur snapped Jackson back to his senses. She was


    inspecting his fringe.


    “Jack, why don’t I trim your fringe for you? It’s a little too long. It must be affecting your vision,” she


    said.


    He stared at her. There seemed to be a light flowing in his eyes. After a few moments, he slowly said,


    “Sure.” Serenity only had simple tools – ab, a pair of scissors, and a piece of cloth that she


    wrapped around Jackson’s neck.
