Chapter 406 The Great Escape
Maddox was visibly perplexed. “What if we get caught during our escape and are dragged back? Won’t
we face even more severe punishment?”
Freya’s countenance was stern, and her voice was chillingly cold. “Maddox, I chose to whisk you away
tonight because if we don’t seize this opportunity, it will be toote.”
“What do you mean?”
“Jamie is plotting to murder you tomorrow morning! Tonight is our only chance. You muste with
us!”
Maddox trailed behind Freya as his body trembled. Russell stepped in to steady Maddox when he
observed his unsteady steps causing a ruckus.
“Silence!”
The trio stealthily exited the corridor. Upon reaching the vi’s front door, Freya signaled them to halt.
She concealed herself behind a pir, and her clear eyes were radiating a sharp intensity.

Four guards were stationed at the vi’s front door. Based on her observations during a garden stroll
with. Edward a few days prior, there were likely several patrolling guards.
The final hurdle was the main gate of the vi estate.
After disabling the surveince, she would need to bypass these three checkpoints to ensure a
sessful escape.
Freya nced at Lucius. “You three stay put.”
Lucius was visibly anxious as he whispered, “Miss Kaufmann, they outnumber us. Should I assist you?”
She shook her head and crouched down before advancing toward the gate.
She had to ensure the trio’s escape before dawn. As she neared the gate, she was separated from the
four men outside by a mere wall.
She waited patiently. Surely, these four men couldn’t maintain their vignce indefinitely.
Soon after, she felt a sudden touch on her hand. Her heart skipped a beat, and as she turned around,
she found Lucius standing behind her, holding a bottle of anesthetic.
Freya examined the bottle’sbel. It was a foggy anesthetic capable of inducing unconsciousness.
Lucius handed her a towel soaked with the anesthetic.
Freya shot him a grateful nce, covered her mouth with the towel, quietly uncapped the bottle, and -
sprinkled the anesthetic on the ground.
The potent anesthetic quickly took effect. The man closest to them began to mumble. “What’s
happening? Why do I feel so dizzy?”
The other three chuckled at him, “You didn’t drink much tonight. Surely, two cans of beer can’t be
affecting you now.”
Another chimed in. “I also feel a bit dizzy. What’s going on?”
During their conversation, the first man to speak copsed onto the ground.
The remaining two immediately went on high alert. Freya darted out by seizing this opportunity from her
hiding spot and swiftly neutralized the two men.
The man farthest away stared at Freya in terror and was about to cry for help.
A dark gun barrel was pressed against his temple.
“Silence! Or face death!” Freya’s voice was swift and low,
The man trembled uncontrobly.
Her face was still shielded by the wet towel, and the atmosphere was palpably tense.
She held the gun to the man’s temple with one hand and turned to look behind her while whispering,
“Lucius, bring them out.”
Lucius quickly ushered the two men out.
All three of them had their faces concealed with wet towels. The man Freya was pointing at couldn’t
hold on any longer. He swayed a few times and passed out.
Freya surveyed the four unconscious men on the ground.
“There’s a patrol team in this estate, and they pass by every fifteen minutes at most. We must reach
the gate within fifteen minutes!”
She rummaged through the four men’s belongings and found four mobile phones.
She handed each of them a phone. “Once we’re out, immediately dial the nearest police station! After
making the call, discard the phone. Their phones are likely equipped with a tracking system.”
The trio took the phones, and Freya led them onward.
Maddox was visibly anxious. “Shouldn’t we drag these four men into the house? What if they’re
discovered?”
“If the patrol team arrives and finds no one here, they’ll grow suspicious! Time is of the essence. We
can’t afford to clean up after ourselves.” Freya gritted her teeth, and her pace was unwavering.
They took the broadest path, and she swiftly guided the three men to the gate.
She was pleasantly surprised to discover several cars parked by the road outside the gate.
Having a car was a bonus! Even if there was a tracking system, it would take time for Jamie to locate
them!
There were guard booths on either side of the gate, equipped with bulletproof ss. There was a
circr hole in the ss, presumably for the guards inside to fire their weapons.
Freya frowned and turned to Lucius.
“Do you still have any of that anesthetic left?”
“No. Should I go back and retrieve it?”
“There’s no need. We don’t have the luxury of time to go back now,” Freya whispered.
Her gazended on the wall not far away. The wall was high, and with the assistance of a nearby tree,
she could scale it. However, the other three were clearly not agile enough.
It seemed they had no choice but to pass through the main gate.
She stealthily approached the guard booth. Although the booth had a blind spot half a person high,
there were guard booths on both sides, each with a clear view of the other.
She was contemting her next move when her gaze fell on a gap behind the guard booth.
The gap was narrow and wedged between the gates. It was not wide enough for a person to pass
through, but due to the vi’s age, that section of the wall had be weathered.
All they needed was to widen the wall by another two centimeters, and then there would be enough
space to crawl through!
Freya shared her n with the others. Apart from the trembling Maddox, Russell and Lucius agreed
with. her suggestion.
That spot was conveniently located in a corner, so the chances of being discovered were slim.
“We’re running out of time. It took us seven minutes to walk from the vi to here. In another eight
minutes at most, those men will be discovered by the patrol!” Freya whispered.
“I’ll do it! I’m strong.” Lucius volunteered while lying on the ground and pushing hard against the
weathered edge of the wall.
Time was ticking away. Freya calcted that they had less than five minutes left, but Lucius had only
managed to dislodge a single brick.
She gritted her teeth. She hadn’t anticipated the edge of the wall, which appeared so weathered and
worn, to be so sturdy!
There was no time left!
There was amotion in the distance, which clearly indicated that the guards at the gate had been
discovered.
*Lucius, there’s no time. We have to force our way through!” Freya pulled Lucius up.
She raised her gun and was prepared to confront the guards.
But out of the corner of her eye, she spotted a manhole cover not far away.
She fired several shots directly at the wall, then tore off a piece of Maddox’s clothing and hung it on the
wall.
The guards from the two booths had already rushed out. Freya swiftly neutralized them, and as they
fell. she ushered Lucius, Maddox, and Russell toward the manhole cover.
The manhole cover was almostpletely concealed by weeds, which was why she hadn’t noticed it
initially.
She lifted the cover and allowed Russell to descend first, followed by Maddox and Lucius.
After the three of them had descended using the rudimentary irondder on the inner wall of the sewer.
Freya was thest to go down. The moment she closed the cover, she spotted a light in the distance.
The entire vi was suddenly bathed in light!.
