Kevan’s ward was surrounded by muscr bodyguards dressed in ck suits. Larissa immediately
sensed that something was wrong

Larissa eximed upon hearing this, “Bullet? What exactly happened?” It was just a wedding. How

The assistant led them to an empty ward next door, and after ensuring there was no one
eavesdropping, he exined, “An old enemy of Cody’s did this. He intended to kill Cody, but instead,
Mr. Rogers got injured.”
Dn furrowed his brow and questioned. “Are you certain it was an ident?”
The assistant pursed his lips and replied. “The assassin has been captured, and he ims it was an
ident. However, the authenticity of his statement remains doubtful.”
Dn further inquired, “Were there any other injuries besides Kevan?”
The assistant responded, “Cody sustained minor injuries but didn’t require hospitalization. Apart from
that no one else was injured.”
“Where are the others?”
The assistant replied. “They are all staying at the hotel waiting to fly back home.”
“And Ruby?”
“She’s also at the hotel.”
Dn sneered and remarked, “Kevan is in critical condition, yet Ruby hasn’t evene to see him
once.”
The assistant did notment and remained silent.
“Let’s go and see Kevan,” Dn said, signaling Larissa to follow him.
Kevan was staying in the best single-patient room in the entire hospital although the conditions were
worse than in an ordinary ward in their home country. The room was devoid of any furnishings except
for a bed.
Kevan was surrounded by numerous tubes, as he was lying on the bed with closed eyes. His
complexion was pale, and even his thin, red lips had lost their color. He appeared lifeless.
Larissa’s body swayed when she saw Kevan’s state, but she managed to steady herself by holding
onto the wall. Step by step, she approached him and looked down at him.
At that moment, a feeling of déjà vu washed over her. She had seen a simr scene somewhere
before-many years ago, a young man she had found by the roadside had alsoin quietly on a hospital
bed. Only the fluctuating lines on the bedside vital signs monitor indicated that he was still alive.
Dn turned to the assistant and asked, “Did the doctor mention when he’d wake up?”
The assistant gave an ambiguous response, saying, “It could be the next second, or it could take
several days. The doctor is uncertain. After all the medical capabilities here are limited…”
Dn was eager to bring Kevan back to their home country for treatment, so he inquired, “When can
he be transferred to another hospital?”
