Morning comes, and Valysha is holding my newest invention. A synthetic right arm with a propeller and holder for explosives. Allowing for that quick bombing and seamless barrage.
[Valysha]: “A-Are you sure it’s okay? What if it doesn’t work?”
[Kurira]: “Oh, it’ll work, don’t worry. I was actually going to do it yesterday, but the prototype was a bust. I mean this one is a prototype too, but it’ll work.”
[Valysha]: “How do you know?”
Because there’s no errors in S.R.P this time, but telling her about errors in my invention kinda hurting a little.
[Kurira]: “Well, I just know.”
Smiling as I align this large scissor in my arm, and snip.
[Kurira]: “Ghhhhnkkk?!”
[Valysha]: “???”
[Valysha]: “M-Miss Kurira?”
[Kurira]: “Give me, quick!”
Aligning it properly, and smushed. It starts digging.
[Kurira]: “Ghnnnghkk…”
[Valysha]: “!!!”
[Valysha]: “Do, do you need anything? Potions? Healing? Should I heal you?”
[Kurira]: “No! Don’t! That’ll just make a mess.”
*Clink *Clack
*Brrrrrrrr*
[Kurira]: “Nnngh…”
Patience, a little bit of struggles, and there’ll be an abundant of harvest for those fruits I planted. Just a bit more. A little bit more.
*Clack *Clack
I can feel the medicine applied, and before I know it, I can already move it. This skeletal synthetic arm. Cold, and it stings.

We start cleaning up and I stored my original arm to M.A.T for safekeeping and also the exoskeleton. I will have to scrap it for parts and make adjustment if I want to use that with the launcher or I can make a left-handed version of it.
[Kurira]: “Thanks, Valysha. If you ever lost a limb, you can find me.”
[Valysha]: “Uh um, thanks, but I didn’t do anything.”
[Kurira]: “Oh, come on, your magic know-how is pretty useful in getting this to not only work, but work splendidly.”
Smiles. She smiles too, nervously.
[Kurira]: “Alright, let’s get to the next order of business. Would be nice if we can finish it before noon, I really need those money. Oh, I still get the money from these quests, right?”
[Valysha]: “Yes, of course.”
[Kurira]: “Sweet.”
And so, we walk towards our next destination which is a little further away from the deep part of the forest. Loading bombs into my arm is a one-way process, which means, I can’t get it out without risk of it exploding. I will need to make further adjustment and make bombs in a way that can systematically work with this launcher. One that is more proprietary solution. New type of bombs that works more like a shell grenade they use in a real-life launcher.
This arm also has a unique feature. A large and sturdy retractable blade. Two more of these and I’d be a monster for real, or downsize it and have one for each finger, but sadly, until I can figure out the design, I’m running out of space here.
Glancing at Valysha, I accidentally caught her looking. She looks away and I retracted my blade, maybe that startled her.
[Kurira]: “Carrying that staff around. Are you a mage or… a wizard?”
[Valysha]: “Well, a sorcerer… actually.”
[Kurira]: “Pssh, and here I thought my class is rare.”
[Valysha]: “Well, for one, I’ve never heard of a biomedical engineer. Sorcerer, people have known. Ruthless magic seeking monsters.”
Glancing her gloomy face, I chuckled.
[Valysha]: “?”
[Kurira]: “Magic is as much of a tool as this arm. It all depends on what’s it’s being used for.”
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.
[Valysha]: “…”
Finally looking at me in the eye. That made me smile for some reason.
Tapping her back with my only real limb, we set out on this fine morning to a cave guarded by green humanoid creatures. Dirty and smells.
{Goblins / Level 15}
[Valysha]: “Five of them. How are you going to do this? Bombing?”
Raising my brows to the first time she’s asking me about what I’ll do.
[Kurira]: “No, there’s no need to for these weaklings.”
Scratching my head.
[Kurira]: “Well, it’s been a while, but here I go.”
Walking out of the bushes to confront these goblins.
[Goblin 1]: “Raa?”
[Goblin 2]: “Raa Raaa!”
[Goblin 2]: “Mannn! Homaaan!”
[Goblin 1]: “Raaa!”
Swinging its club. A short lean and then a punch.
Blood splattered as its neck snapped and its body falls away.
[Kurira]: “Hm, weaker than I expected.”
[Goblin 1]: “R-Raaaaaaaaa!”
All three coming at once.
A club going pass, pass, a little tap to the elbow to go down and a twisty head. I tripped the dead and give a roundhouse to another before grabbing the jumping goblin and smack it to the ground. It really has been a while.
Adjusting the shoulder to my new arm, “Mmmph, nothing beats pummeling a real flesh. Too bad I don’t have a real one to use.”
The sensation is lost, but the trade-off is worth it.
[Kurira]: “Wait, shouldn’t there be five of them?”
[Valysha]: “Miss Kurira.”
[Kurira]: “Out with the miss, Valysha. Stay here, I’ll be out in a minute.”
[Valysha]: “But… are you sure you won’t be using your bombs? It can get dangerous in there.”
[Kurira]: “We’ll see.”
Entering the darkness and it is indeed dangerous. An enemy that is heavily obscured, you would have to keep an eye on things, every little thing.
Not for me actually, but for them.
One little gobbly struggling frantically to get his face away from my grasp.
*CRUNCH*
Well now, it gave up. Tossing his lifeless body aside.
“RAAAAAA”
“RAAAAAAAAAAA!”
“RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!”
A little scream, guess they know I’m here, but whatever. I went to clear out the cave anyway and head out cause there’s no loot in there whatsoever. At least not trash weapons that I still tuck into my inventory and there’s a load of them. I even got a giant chicken leg with it.
“M-Mi— um, Kurira?”
Blood dripping from my new synthetic skeletal fingers. The blade retracting.
“All clear. If you need to do your inspection or whatever. I’ve gotta clean these.”
“O-oh, okay.”
After getting all the blood cleaned off, I come to a conclusion that a face-to-face combat is not ideal for me atm. The fact that some blood got in and I have to wash it out. Which is no big deal since unlike real world’s circuitry, magic cores don’t care if it got submerged in water.
I came back to see Valysha and I see her cutting goblin’s ear and make deep incision on their chest. Getting out their magic cores even though, I got their loot. Reminds me of the old Realism Mode.
“Hunh, you didn’t do that with the snake, so why them?”
“Realistically, everything should be collected, but we don’t have a porter bag and that too will be limited, and you didn’t just kill the snake. I saw its core and body blown to pieces.”
“Right.”
I stood back up, “Last one is close by, yeah? Let’s get to it if you’re done with that.”
“Yes.”
Although it feels good to complete a task, cleaning up other people’s mess is not my thing. This next quest is quite the leftover for me.
Away from the forest, on a certain grassland lies a manticore. It’s a disturbing creature that has the body of a lion, a tail of a scorpion, wings like a wyvern, and a huge face of a human.
“Valysha, where’s the enemy?”
“Huh? Um, over there.”
“Where is over there?”
“In that direction.”
“Got it, removing that direction.”
“Eh?”
Loading 8 of my balls, I mean, bombs. It works like any launcher would. Except, I designed specifically for long range thrust. The sound it makes when it’s launching those bombs.
And the one that comes after that.
Safe to say that the manticore has now been reduced to dust. Though, there’s still some body parts scattered around and Valysha chose to take a part of its wing.
[Valysha]: “To think we actually finished these quests this fast…”
We nod to each other before returning back to town, that is what we would like to do if not for a group of people standing on the middle of the road, menacingly.
[Valysha]: “Travelers.”
[Kurira]: “Hm?”
[Valysha]: “They’re an otherworldly being that comes to our world for unknown purpose. They’re strong, Kurira. A lot of them are.”
[Kurira]: “Yeah, I know, I’m one of them.”
[Valysha]: “?” blinking a few times, “Oh, uhh, yes. So, what do we do now?”
I guess their flashy appearance gave away their identities or something. I wouldn’t worry if I’m alone but I’m not. Guess a reload is necessary.
[Kurira]: “Wait here.”
Approaching those ominous figures. Not so ominous once you get close. We got blonde and silver hair, the contrast is massive here.
[Kurira]: “Fellas, why’re you blocking the road. Scaring me to my pants here.”
Tatted silver haired coming out here, licking dagger.
[Woman 1]: “Toll.”
Raising my brows.
[Kurira]: “Toll?”
Blondie clicking her tongue.
[Woman 1]: “Just piss off, you NPC. Fuck, we don’t got all day.”
[Man 1]: “Yeah we do apparently? If there’s no one passing in a minute, I’m gonna flip!”
[Woman 1]: “I told you we should be going just outside the safe zone. The hell we doing out here?”
[Man 2]: “Shut the fuck up, all o’ you! Shit!”
Silver looking back to me.
[Man 2]: “Aye, you not looking half bad. Wanna spend some time with us?”
[Woman 1]: “Lex, seriously?”
[Man 2]: “What? Not like she gon do nothing? We’re way off the safe zone!”
[Man 1]: “You don’t want to touch an NPC, man. If they die, those winged bastards gonna rain down on us. Safe zone or not.”
[Man 2]: “Yeah, but what if she don’t die, huh?”
[Man 1]: “Well…”
All looking back at me. Blondie noticed my side.
[Woman 1]: “Hey, wait, her arm.”
[Man 2]: “Hm?”
[Man 1]: “Yo! Hol up now.”
[Man 1]: “Never seen one with that before?”
[Man 2]: “Unique NPC, man. Might just be a quest-giver too.”
I supposed they don’t really think much, and this type of thing is also rare for me back then too. Their ignorance is a pass.
[Man 2]: “Heyyy, was just kidding me, say…”
Wrapping his arm around my shoulder.
[Man 2]: “Ye don’t happen to be needing any help, do ya?”
Help, huh. Pretty standard for a player to ask for a quest from an NPC, but now you don’t even get to track or receive it by notification unless it’s being given by the system.
[Woman 1]: “What are those balls?”
[Man 1]: “Yeah, feel like I’ve seen them before.”
[Kurira]: “Oh, this?” aiming my fist straight to the blondie, “It’s bombs.”
[Man 2]: “?”
[Kurira]: “See, when it launches from the launcher here, it goes super duper fast. If you got hit by it, it will feel like you got slapped or punched before the bombs go off. When it does, it creates an explosion similar to that of a grenade, but because the shrapnel hits one close by, another explosion is created, now larger but with less damage. Still, it doesn’t make it any less damaging.”
