Chapter 639
In a bedroom in the Shurmer residence, Zeke stood by the bed and red at Shirley, who was leaning
against the headboard.
He had never felt such disgust toward her because of the rtionship the Shurmers had with the
Gourds in the past.
He would give her the cold shoulder as he was not interested in her. In other words, he had never
harbored any romantic feelings for her.
Yet, ever since he found out that Shirley took the ce of the woman he had a one-night stand with
and wiped off Juliana''s existence with the intention of marrying into the Shurmer family, his patience
with her had worn thin.
The revtion that she had stolen his sperm from the bank and used it to impregnate herself only
served to intensify his disgust toward her.
“I told you I''ll not acknowledge this child and ept the baby. You are the one who insists on keeping
it, so why do youe after me? You must be aware that I''ve had the butler tamper with the path in the
garden and cause you to fall. So you should know I wanted to get rid of that fetus in your belly more
than once. You insist on keeping the baby, so what do you expect from me? Don''t expect me to love
this child either. If you''re smart enough, you should take the initiative to abort the child to avoid harming
yourself and the baby.”
Shirley''s eyes turned bloodshot, and tears welled up in her eyes.
She widened her eyes, shot daggers at him, and said in between sobs, “How could you do this? You''re
the child''s father! If you don''t believe it, we can do amniocentesis and run a paternity test.”

Despite her mother''s repeated warnings about the potential harm to her unborn child, Shirley was
determined to run a paternity test to prove to Zeke that he was indeed the biological father to her child.
Although the method of obtaining the sperm might not have been entirely ethical, the baby was still
biologically his as it had been conceived using his sperm and her ovum and then imnted into her
body through in vitro fertilization. There''s no way he can deny it.
Upon hearing that, Zeke let out a cold snort.
He knew the woman was kept in the dark and had no idea where the devil''s spawn in her womb
actually came from since her mother had hidden the truth from her. So what? Since the moment she
pretended to be the woman I slept with and imnted my sperm into her body, any sympathy I might
have for her had flown out of the window.
Zeke said, “Do you not understand what I said? Look, I''ve told you this many times already. It''s not
about whether he''s my son or not. I just don''t want him. Period. That''s why I asked the butler to figure
out ways to get rid of him. I thought I made it pretty clear. It doesn''t matter if he''s mine biologically or
not. If I wanted to ept him, I would, even if he wasn''t mine. But I don''t, so there''s no use trying to put
pressure on me.”
Plop...plop...plop...
Tears that were rolling in Shirley''s eyes gushed out uncontrobly. I''ve done everything I could, but why
is he still doing this to me?
“It doesn''t matter if you refuse to acknowledge it. The child is growing inside me, and when he''s born,
he''ll be your eldest son. Blood is thicker than water. I don''t believe you''ll have the heart to strangle him
to death when hees to this world. Everyone knows that I''m carrying your child and we''re getting
married. I still want the Mrs. Shurmer title, even though our rtionship is just in name,” Shirley uttered.
Zeke responded with a faint grin. I might consider recognizing her as Mrs. Shurmer if she''s carrying my
child. I''d also be more than willing to maintain an impersonal rtionship with her for the rest of my life
after the birth of our child. But that child in her womb is not a Shurmer.
Upon hearing Shirley''s cries, Waverly burst into the room. “You b*stard! I ask you toe andfort
Shirley, not to provoke her!”
Zeke narrowed his eyes and nced at her before responding indifferently, “Lionel was stabbed right in
the heart, and he might not survive the attack. Shouldn''t you be visiting him since you''re his only family
member?”
Waverly was struck dumb. “N-Nell was injured?”
Zeke''s frown tightened. “Did you not know about it?”
After that, he scoffed and added, “I guess I shouldn''t be surprised. You don''t even care about your
daughter since you''re more concerned about the child in her womb, let alone the life and death of your
nephew. I have nothing to say, except good luck to you all.”
With that, he nced at Shirley''s belly before turning around and walking toward the door.
At that moment, the housekeeper''s voice came from behind the door. “Mrs. Shurmer, Mr. Zeke, Ms.
Jefferson is here.”
Zeke knitted his brows. What is she doing here? Does she not know danger lurks everywhere right
now?
Frustration kicked in, and Waverly could not help but recall what Zoey had said.
Zoey revealed to Waverly that Bailey had been trying to set up a match between Zeke and Juliana, and
that was why Bailey had been defaming Shirley and urging Zeke to get rid of the baby.
Waverly bought her story.
It was logical for Bailey to assist Juliana since thetter was her protégé. But does she not know
Shirley is already carrying a child of the Shurmer family? Knowing that Zeke is on her side, what
exactly is her intention? How could she instigate her brother to abort the child her future sister-inw is
carrying? How could she sacrifice Shirley and her unborn child to pave the way for her protégé?
“It''s her again. You just got home a while ago, and she''s here. Zozo is right. You''ve fallen for her spell.”
Waverly expressed her dismay.
She walked to the door and said, “I''ll talk to her. Let''s see if she has a guilty conscience.”
Zeke did not stop her. Bay must have weighed the consequences beforeing. It could be beneficial
for her to have a conversation with my mother.
Waverly stormed into the waiting lounge. “Listen carefully, Bailey Jefferson. I''ll never allow that protégé
of yours to marry into the Shurmer family. It''s not going to happen, not over my dead body!”
Bailey leaned against the floor-to-ceiling window, arms crossed, and responded with a perplexing grin.
It''s time to teach this old hag a lesson to wake her up.
She believed the Shurmer family would be in deep trouble if Waverly remained clueless about the
situation.
Despite herck of attachment to the family and her reluctance to reim her position, she was still
concerned that the internal conflicts would take a toll on Zeke, who was now the head of the family.
“The child Shirley is carrying is not a Shurmer,” Bailey said directly, regardless of whether Waverly
could ept it or not.
Waverly was stunned and stared at her nkly, unable to react for a long time.
Bailey added, “The woman Zeke slept with was my protégé, Juliana, not Shirley. I believe you''re aware
that Juliana is pregnant, right? The child she''s carrying now belongs to the Shurmer family. It''s just that
Shirley lied and took her ce.”
Waverly widened her eyes in disbelief, her lips trembling as she struggled to form a coherent sentence.
Upon seeing the stunned look on her face and how she struggled topose herself, Bailey could not
help but smirk sarcastically.
She felt Waverly had lived a sheltered life of enjoying all the privileges, and it seemed that only a jarring
revtion like this could rattle her out of hercency.
