    We finally arrived at the west gates leading in, authorities had the ce surrounded, even a helicopter


    was flying above taking aerial shots. Even one of the local news station choppers was flying in circles yet


    were remaining far enough away from the state official ones. I shake my head, much to my disgust, that


    they were just looking for the next big headline.


    “Fucking vultures.” I curse. No doubt, they are streaming the entire thing live. Law enforcement cars lined


    the entire road, having blocked any trafficing down or up the mountain. State and local officials


    scouring the entire ce.


    Thane is first out of the car, followed by Rhen. We were all feeling antsy. All made worse because the


    bond offered little in the way of her wellbeing. We?


    knew she was alive, that’s all we cared about right now. Getting her out, we could deal with the aftermath


    afterward. Yet the state we would get her back in was another thing.


    Corbin had seven mates, like Jake does. Harlow also just had a baby, so would struggle to shift, she is


    Omega so powerless against amand without Thane’s serum or her having marked us. I knew Thane


    would be ensuring both those things the moment we get her back.


    Spotting Thane and Rhen as I climb out, I move to them while Raidon checks out the fences. Stopping


    beside Thane, I peer down at the screen they are looking at. Heat projection drones showing they were


    deep inside the mansion that when they moved, their locations bing invisible as half the house was


    embedded inside the mountain.


    State officers scouring everything trying to find a way in. “How long until the federal officials arrive?”


    Rhen questions. The man gulps, ncing at Thane nervously. “Still two hours out.” he exins.


    Thane looks across the reinforced gates. “That’s toote.” he mutters. His emotions were all over the


    ce, all ours were. He felt like he failed all of us, but most of all he felt like he failed to protect Harlow.


    “The explosives team sent in drones and equipment earlier, the entire fence line is wired underground.


    Even the tunnels leading in.”


    “There has to be some way in.” Rhen snaps, snatching the man’s tablet as he takes control of the


    drones.


    We have searched everywhere.” the man tells him.


    “You can’t have, Corbin wouldn’t lock himself in with no way out. .niniz There has to be a


    way for him to escape, he would be expecting us to barge on in, needs an escape route.” Rhen argues.


    “The only way other than through these gates is the tunnels, they are all wired with explosives. And we


    aren’t even sure what else is inside.”


    “Can’t we drop in?” Thane says, pointing at the helicopter circling above. The man sighs and shakes his


    head.


    Rhen points to the rooftop and trees, making me look up. “Not unless you want to fry, thoses


    covering the top, aren’t to keep the bird out.” Thane and I look up.


    “They can’t cover the entire ce.” Thane mutters. Rhen steps closer, showing us, with the drone, that


    entire ce ispletely covered overhead by them.


    “You drop in from above you’ll be barbecued, they are rigged with barbed wire and razor wire. See


    here?” Rhen shows him on the drone, a huge panel on the wall. The drone hovering just above the wire


    netting. “Electrically charged,” Rhen tells him.


    “Yeah, we lost two drones initially before we figured out why.” The man states and Thane growls.


    “So then what? We wait for the federal authorities to arrive, it will be toote.” Thane snarls, eyeing the


    high fences.


    “We have no choice, we have to wait.” Rhen says, though the worry through the bond from him, we all


    knew what that meant.


    “Maybe Leo–” Thane cuts me off.


    “For all we know, he is probably getting ready to fucking mark her. He is Corbin’s mate Leon! Would you


    go against me? Kill me?” I clench my jaw looking away, knowing it would be impossible, but Thane hasn’t


    done the things Corbin has. “We have his daughter.” I tell Thane.


    “Yes, his daughter that he knows I won’t kill! That the council wouldn’t allow to be killed. So, basically we


    are sitting ducks while they do god knows fucking what with our mate!”


    “Leo had to have a way in, he said it himself, he could get in through the tunnels. Send the fucking


    drones back out.” The man quickly nods, taking the drone from Rhen and using his radio to talk to the


    other men when Thane starts taking his clothes off.


    “What are you doing?” Rhen asks him.


    “Finding a way in!” Thane snarls before shifting, and I see Raidon rush over. “Fuck sake,” Raidon. snaps,


    ripping his shirt off to go after him. Raidon tosses it to me before shedding his pants.


    “Fool will get himself killed.” Raidon snaps, shifting into his huge bear like wolf and taking off into the


    woods after him. .niniz Rhen shakes his head, snatching the radio out of the man’s hand


    and walking back to the car when Thane’s phone rings. I pull it from his pocket, seeing that it is Jake.


    “Hey, Jake.” I answer it. Now knowing it is left for me to tell him what’s going on. Zara was already


    wanting toe to find Harlow despite just having her babies, and I knew Jake had his hands full with


    her. This was not going to help matters.


    I quickly exin everything before then hanging up and dialing ine’s number to check on Scarlet.


    ine answers after only two rings as if she had the phone in her hand waiting for one of us to call. “Hey,


    ma. How’s Scarlet?”


    “She’s asleep on Pop’s chest. Any news, have you got her back?” I sigh.


    “No, and now we are stuck waiting. Leo escaped to try to help, but Thane has his doubts.”


    “As he would. Leo is Corbin’s mate. And mate bonds are hard enough to go against, let alone your


    Alpha’smand.” I nod, falling quiet.


    “She’ll be alright, Leon. You’ll get her back. One thing about Harlow is she durable. All Omegas are. We


    have to be.”


    “Yeah, I know, I just worry about the state she’ll be in when we find her.” I admit, worriedly ncing back


    up at the mountain mansion.


    “Where is my son?”


    “Chasing Thane. He is trying to find out where Leo was able to get in at.”


    “Is that about my dad?” I hear his daughter ask in the background. ine must have pulled the phone


    away from her ear, her voice not as loud.


    “No it’s Leon He was checking on Scarlet ”


    “But my father?” she asks, and ine sighs.

    “No, no, my father wouldn’t abandon me. Dad only agreed to be Corbin’s mate to protect me, so he could


    get me out of rotation and away from my mother. He wouldn’t run back to him, knowing Thane would get


    rid of me for betraying him.”


    “Thane would never put you in rotation, and even if he tried, Harlow and I wouldn’t allow it. Your father


    knows this!” ine tells her.


    “He also knows I don’t stand a chance without him.


    He wouldn’t risk it.” Emily tells her.


    “What does she mean?” I ask ine.


    “Leon wants to know what you mean?” ine asks her.


    “He knows Mom woulde for me.” my brows furrow in confusion. I don’t even have to ask ine to


    question her, she just does. “So, she is your mother?”


    “Doesn’t mean she is a good one. Why do you think dad got fired for stealing the drugs from the


    practice? He was never selling them. They were pheromone blockers. When Mom found out I was


    Omega, Mom offered me to the Vamps. Dad took me from her and raised me. Tried to convince her I


    was Alpha blood, not Omega.”


    “Your mother sold you to the vamps?” I hear ine ask.


    “Yes, Omega blood is addictive. I was being offered up as a feeder when I came of age. Mom was a


    rotation Omega. She refused to give up the lifestyle, I was merely a pawn to her when she realized I was


    born Omega too. Dad intended to keep her as his mate, but mom said no. Mom had three other children


    before me, but with regr Alphas. They were all born Omega, so the Alphas didn’t want them.”


    “And where are your siblings?” ine questions.


    “I don’t know. We never found them. Mom sold my two sisters off to be raised by other alphas for


    breeding. My brother was sold to the Vamps. Dad tried to find them for me. It’s one of the reasons he


    met Corbin because of his links to the vampiremunity. So when he discovered I was Omega, he


    tried to hide it with the blockers, but Mom found out. Then dad bought me off her. He borrowed the


    money off Corbin in exchange. Dad had to be his mate.”


    “My god,” ine gasps. Her story was absolutely horrifying, no wonder Leo asked Thane to take her. But


    that reassured me even more. Leo woulde through. You don’t join an Alpha pack for your kid if you


    would risk their lives, especially knowing she is Omega.
