But something was still wrong, Mr Smith wasn’t actually whole happy about the baby girl but the both couple were happy about weing.
Bryan took in a deep breath and walked into the room locked room preserved for the baby and the mother.
Bryan’s eyes dropped, his shoulders slumping in defeat. “I know I can’t undo the past,” he whispered. “But I want to be a good father to Emily, and a good husband to you. I want us to be a family, Amelia.”
Amelia’s expression softened slightly, her eyes flicking to the crib where Emilyy sleeping. “I want that too, Bryan,” she said quietly. “But it’s going to take time. And effort. From both of us.”
Bryan nodded, a small spark of hope igniting in his chest. “I’ll do whatever it takes,” he promised. “I’ll prove myself to you, Amelia. I’ll show you that I’mmitted to our family.”
Amelia’s gaze lingered on his face, searching for sincerity. “I hope so, Bryan,” she said finally. “For Emily’s sake, I hope so.”
As they stood there, the silence between them was less strained, the tension slowly dissipating. It was a small step towards healing, towards rebuilding their shattered rtionship. But it was a start. And for that, Bryan was grateful.
Bryan took a tentative step forward, his eyes locked on Amelia’s. “Can I hold her?” he asked softly, nodding towards the crib.
Amelia hesitated for a moment, then nodded. “Okay.”
Bryan’s face lit up with a gentle smile as he carefully lifted Emily out of her crib. He cradled her in his arms, his eyes drinking in the sight of her tiny face, her delicate features. Emily stirred, her eyes flickering open, and Bryan’s heart skipped a beat as she gazed up at him.
“Hi there, little one,” he whispered, his voice trembling with emotion.
Amelia watched, her expression softening, as Bryan gently rocked Emily back and forth. For a moment, they forgot about their differences, their hurts, and simply existed as a family.
As they stood there, wrapped in the warmth of this tender moment, Bryan knew that this was what he wanted to be a family, to love and cherish Amelia and Emily, to make up for lost time.
But as the moment passed, reality intruded, and Amelia’s expression hardened once more. “Don’t think this means anything, Bryan,” she warned, her voice icy. “I’m still angry, I’m still hurt. But for Emily’s sake, I’ll try.”
Bryan’s face fell, but he nodded, understanding. He knew he had a long way to go to regain Amelia’s trust, but he was willing to try, for Emily’s sake, and for his own.
Just as Bryan was settling into the moment, the doorbell rang, shattering the tranquility. Amelia’s eyes narrowed. “Who could that be?”
Bryan’s gut tightened as he handed Emily back to Amelia. “I’ll get it.”
He made his way to the door, his mind racing with a sense of foreboding. He opened it to find Mr. Smith, his business partner, standing on the porch, his face grave.
“Bryan, we need to talk,” Mr. Smith said, his voice low and urgent. “Now.”
Bryan’s instincts screamed warning. “What is it?”
Mr. Smith’s eyes flicked to Amelia, who was watching from the living room. “Not here. My office. Now.”Content ? N?velDrama.Org.
Bryan’s heart sank. He knew that tone, that look. Something was wrong, something big.
“Okay,” he said reluctantly, feeling the happiness he had just experienced slipping away.
As he followed Mr. Smith out of the house, he couldn’t shake the feeling that his world was about toe crashing down around him once again.
*********
Mr. Smith’s face turned red with rage as he mmed his fist on the desk. “You’re wasting your time ying with that baby instead of getting your butt to work! You’re acting like a child, not a businessman!”
Bryan’s eyes narrowed, his temper ring. “That’s enough, Dad,” he growled, his voice low and menacing.
Mr. Smith sneered. “Oh, so now you’re standing up to me? You think you’re some kind of man because you have a child? Newssh, Bryan: you’re still a failure!”
Bryan’s face twisted with anger, and heunched himself at his father. “You know nothing about being a father or a husband!” he snarled, his fists clenched. “You only care about yourself and your preciouspany!”
The two men stood nose to nose, their faces inches apart, as the tension between them crackled like electricity. Mr. Smith’s eyes shed with surprise and anger, but Bryan didn’t back down.
“I’ll show you what it means to be a real man,” Bryan spat, his voice dripping with venom. “I’ll make sure thispany seeds, no matter what it takes. And I’ll do it without your help or your approval!”
With that, Bryan turned and stormed out of the office, leaving Mr. Smith seething with rage and shock.
Mr. Smith’s eyes narrowed. “I’m positive,” he growled. “My son is not fit to run thispany. He’s too distracted, too soft. He’s not willing to make the hard decisions, to take the risks necessary to seed. And I’m going to make sure he doesn’t get the chance to ruin it.”
There was another pause on the other end of the line, and then the voice spoke up again. “Well, Mr. Smith, we’ll need to discuss this further. We can’t just remove him without cause…”
Mr. Smith’s anger boiled over. “Cause?! You want cause?! I’ll give you cause! Hisck of focus, hisck of dedication, hisck of vision! He’s content to just coast on my sess, to ride my coattails instead of making his own way. And that’s not going to cut it, not in thispany, not in this industry!”
He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down. “Look, gentlemen, I know this may seem harsh, but trust me, it’s necessary. Bryan is not the right man for the job. And if we don’t act now, we’ll regret itter.”
The voice on the other end of the line hesitated, and then spoke up. “Okay, Mr. Smith. We’ll consider your proposal. But we’ll need to discuss this further, in person. Can youe to the board meeting next week?”
Mr. Smith’s face twisted into a cold, calcting smile. “Oh, I’ll be there,” he said. “And I’ll make sure that Bryan is not.”
He hung up the phone, his mind already turning with strategies and ns on how to use Amelia to get this.
