    Chapter 21

    Chapter 21

Because of Daniel, Olivia wasted so much time and only returned to the Taylor family after 8 PM.

It was long past dinner time.

Therefore, she went to the kitchen for a quick bite before returning to her room to rest. Theboratory

had been rushing her many times recently, so she decided to go back there tomorrow.

After returning to her room and showering, she sat on the edge of the bed with a towel and rubbed her

    hair.

Then, she could hear three faint knocks on the door.

“Olivia, are you still awake? It’s me.”

It was Amelia’s voice, so Olivia casually slung her tower over her shoulder and walked to the door in

    her slippers.

Amelia was standing at the door in simple home clothes. She no longer had that noble and overbearing

aura previously, but instead, there was more of a gentle and warm feeling to her.

“You are still awake.” Amelia looked at Olivia and spoke gently.

Olivia stepped aside and let her in.

Amelia walked over to the couch and sat down before cing a car key on the table.

Olivia nced at it and realized the key belonged to a Ferrari.

“I prepared this gift for you.” Amelia looked warm and soft. “I was going to give it to you yesterday, but

something came up, and it was dyed. Also, you were not at home at all today.”

It was a gift from Olivia’s mother!

Looking at the car key on the table, Olivia could feel her heart softening uncontrobly. She thought

about what William told her, saying that her mother once loved her unreservedly.

However, she got lost and missed out on 18 years with her. Not only that, but her mother also got sick,

which resulted in an awkward situation between the two of them right now.

The atmosphere inside the room was extremely quiet, but there was also a sense of warmth amidst the

    silence.

“Thank you…” Olivia wanted to call her “mom,” but for some reason, the word just could not leave her

    mouth.

She lowered her eyes in frustration and was a little angry with herself.

Meanwhile, Amelia kept on looking at her nervously. Seeing Olivia lowering her head, she thought she

did not like her gift, which immediately made her anxious.

Just as Amelia was about to say something to ease the situation, she saw water dripping from the wet

    strands of Olivia’s hair.

“This child can’t even wipe her hair clean,” she thought.

With a mother’s heart, Amelia stood and picked up the towel over Olivia’s shoulder before carefully

    wiping her hair with it.

Olivia was stunned by her sudden actions, causing her to freezepletely.

    “Sit down,” Amelia said softly.

Olivia sat down on the couch in obedience as Amelia stood behind her to wipe her hair slowly.

Olivia never had someone wipe her hair before as she only felt a tingling sensation on her head. At this

moment, she suddenly wanted to travel to the past and be a child again just so she could

unscrupulously jump into her mother’s arms and be pampered by her.

There would not be eighteen years of unfamiliarity between them in this

    case.

It felt as though her heart was in a pile of warm water, giving her a soft yet bitter feel. She could not

help but feel that she had gone too far with her previous actions caused by her bad temperament.

Whenever there was a conflict between a mother and her daughter, someone must give in first, and

why couldn’t she be the one to do so?

Olivia was the daughter, after all. She always had to be filial to her mother.

After quietly practicing calling her mother inside her heart, Olivia clenched her fists and gathered all her

courage as she tried to say the word she had been saying in her dreams for over a decade.

However, before she could say the word, Amelia spoke.

“Olivia, you really have nice hair.” Amelia touched Olivia’s soft hair.

Olivia had observed Amelia’s hair before and realized she had good hair too. The two of them had

simr hair, which was both ck and silky. “It’s just like yours.” After saying these words, Olivia

immediately lowered her eyes as her heart began to turn anxious until Amelia said, “Of course it is. You

are my daughter. You are definitely like me.”

Listening to her, Olivia felt a burden lifted from her heart. The corners of her lips raised slightly as she

revealed a joyful look with her beautiful

    eyes.

“By the way, Olivia, do you have a boyfriend?” Amelia asked as if by ident.

    Olivia shook her head.

“I see.” Amelia said thoughtfully, “What kind of boys do you like? I can introduce you to some, Emma

already has a wonderful partner, and I hope you can find one too.”

Olivia thought that, just like Liam, Amelia was genuinely trying to introduce her to someone, so she

repeated what she said to Liam earlier. Listening to her, Amelia looked somewhat relieved. “Looks like

you like the gentle type. That’s great.”

“What does she mean by ‘that’s great‘?” Olivia pondered, but then Amelia continued. “Ethan is far from

gentle, but he and Emma grew up as childhood sweethearts, so they have a very deep rtionship.

Even though he is a bit rough at times, he still treats Emma with all his heart.” Olivia had a good

memory, but there were times like now when she actually hoped that she did not have that good of a

    memory.

“Ethan? It must be that man who Grandpa asked to dance with mest night,” she thought.

Olivia was still sitting on the couch, but all her tender and warm. emotions were long gone. All that was

    left was coldness.

It turned out that Amelia was not here to give her a gift, nor was she there because she was concerned

about Olivia. She was just testing her.

Olivia did not know Ethan at all, and it was impossible for her to have any feelings for a man whom she

only met once. If Amelia did not mention him today, she probably never would have remembered this

    insignificant person.

However, now that Amelia specifically mentioned him, Olivia had to drain her memory momentarily.

“I get it now. Emma passed out because of him.

“Was it because she was afraid I would take Ethan away?” Olivia wondered.

Suddenly, Olivia felt disinterested, so she drew back her towel and asked Amelia to leave her room.

“It’s gettingte. I need to rest.”

However, Amelia did not notice her mood change, and she still had some things to say to her. Seeing

that Olivia was rushing her out, Amelia suddenly became anxious and was straightforward with her

words, no longer being tactful. “Olivia, you also saw how Emma fainted yesterday. It was because she

was nervous about Ethan. She was worried that you would snatch Ethan away from her, so she passed

    out.”

At the same time, Amelia pulled Olivia’s hand and spoke in a pleading tone. “Olivia, can you not fight

with Emma? Emma and Ethan have grown up together since they were a kid. They have deep feelings

for each other, which is why you can’t get involved.”

“When did you see me fighting with her?” Olivia instantly raised her sharp eyes, but behind her back,

her other hand was shaking badly.

“I know. I know that you aren’t fighting with her. You haven’t fought her yet.” Ameilia nodded, wholly

caught up in her own thoughts. “You have juste back and are still unfamiliar with Ethan. I know

that you hate me and Emma. You hate Emma for taking everything away from you by recing you as

the daughter of a wealthy family. I understand that you are not happy about it.

“This jealousy can’t be avoided. It is human nature, so I do not ask you to be at peace.

“After all, when you were out there trying to survive, Emma was being spoiled like a princess in the

    Taylor family.

“You studied hard for days and nights just to get into a good university while Emma could easily apply

    to famous universities abroad.

“You worked part–time just to earn money for a living, causing the palms of your hands to be rough and

covered with calluses, but Emma got to y the piano in a beautiful mansion with no care toward life.

“Emma has indeed reced you, but none of this is her fault. Olivia, please don’t me or hate her. If

you want to me someone, you can me me for not taking good care of you. Please don’t take

revenge on Emma by stealing Ethan from her.”

Olivia did not reply to Amelia’s words as she slowly withdrew her hand from Amelia’s grip. Then, she

lifted her eyes to look at Amelia while her aura suddenly changed!

Amelia was shocked by the sudden change in her aura, causing her to freeze.

“Mrs. Taylor,” Olivia spoke in a tone that no longer had the gentleness. before. Only coldness and

indifference remained. Even though there was not the slightest bit of rage in her eyes, apelling

aura around her made Amelia subconsciously take a step back.

Without any reservations, Olivia faintly asked, “Who said that I wasn’t doing well? When did I say I

don’t know how to y the piano and work to earn money?”

“No… You didn’t say that,” Amelia stammered under the imposing presence of Olivia.

“That’s right.” Olivia said indifferently, “Then don’t specte. I don’t care what you value.

“Alright. You can go back to sleep.” She opened the door.

When Amelia returned to her senses, she was already standing outside the door with the car key she

nned to give Olivia in her palm.

As she stared nkly at the closed door, she suddenly had a realization. Her daughter was not as

    simple as she imagined!
