” Lottery? ” Mrs Brown asked and Mirah nodded.


    ” Yeah, we won a million dors lottery, but La was too scared to tell you.. she thinks you might get angry ” Mirah said, pretending to have a guilty look on.


    ” Ofcourse not, I’m proud of you two,, as long as you didn’t steal the money… what’s there to get angry at you two ” She stated and their eyes brightened.


    ” Really? ” They asked unbelievably and Mrs Brown nodded in smiles.


    ” Aww, we love you mom ” The two girls chorused as they walked over to her and pulled her into a hug. Mrs Brown smiled widely and patted their hairs simultaneously.


    ” So, you two are resuming work at that restaurant? ” Mrs Brown asked as they pulled away from the hug.


    ” Yeah ” La mumbled.


    ” You will be fine dear, if Allen tries a thing.. inform the cops, okay?.. we’re rich now ” Mrs Brown said jokingly and the girls burst intoughter.

    * The girl’s Apartment *


    ” Gosh, that was so close ” Mirah muttered as they bothnded their butts on the bed. La nodded in response.


    ” But who do you think did it?, It can’t be Shane right? ” Mirah asked, tho a part of her is thinking Shane did it.


    ” I don’t know,, I’m really suprised, he didn’t mention any of this to me ” La muttered.


    ” But, why would he do it anyways? He gave us more than enough already ” Mirah asked. ”  I don’t know why, he probably is trying to relieve us the stress, or he’s paying us back in our own coin since we helped him a lot ” La replied and Mirah nodded thoughtfully.


    ” Wr should thank him then ” Mirah suggested and La shook her head. Mirah looked at her in confusion.


    ” That would mean breaching the contract, and we don’t wanna do that, right? ” La teased, using Mirah’s words against her. Mirah let out a scoff.

    ” Who’s gonna talk to him? Me or you? ” La asked and Mirah scoffed. ” What?, Aren’t you his bride? ” She teased and La rolled her eyes. She brought out her cell phone from her pants pocket and dialed Shane’s number.


    He picked at the third ring. ” Hello ” us’s voice came out instead.


    ” us? ” La asked, to be sure of whom they were speaking to.


    ” Yes, it’s me ” us replied.


    ” Um, could I speak to Shane? ” La asked with a polite tone.


    ” Um sure, but not now… Sire is in a board meeting right now ” He replied and La nodded. ” Ok then, but could you give me a call when he’s done? ” She asked. ” Sure, I will ” us replied and La let out a slight smile. ” Alright then, bye ” She said and with that cut the call.


    ” He has resumed work!?, It’s just two days after his wedding!! ” Mirah eximed and La chuckled. ” I know right, he’s workaholic ” She replied and Mirah let out a shortugh.


    ” We should get ready for tomorrow’s work ” Mirah suggested and La nodded in response.


    ” We’re resuming school in two days from now, we should prepare for that too…. How about we buy a mini car? ” Mirah suggested and La rolled her eyes at her suggestion.


    ” Dude, the school isn’t that far from here, we could board a cab everyday instead ” La opposed. Mirah let out a hiss. ” What if the money suddenly finish?, You know we paid for our tuition fees till we are done in that school, and that’s a lot… The money might finish anytime from now ” Mirah said, still standing firm in her decision.


    ” Alright then, we’ld get a mini car… Only for school ” La finally gave in, emphasizing on the word * Only *.


    ” Yeah, whatever ” Mirah muttered.


    ” Do you think Allen noticed I was disguised as Shane’s bride instead, He wouldn’t stop passing me a smirk whenever my eyes met with his at the reception ” La muttered, a little bit scared.


    Mirah let out a scoff, ” Who cares if he noticed?, Not like he can do a thing anyways ” Mirah said, confidently.


    ” I can’t help but get scared, what if he informs Brielle or any Brielle’s family and then, theye for me? ” La muttered worriedly.


    Mirah grabbed her hand swiftly, ” Come on, stop being a weakly.. we have Shane,, he won’t let anything happen to you since he pulled you into it,, and I don’t think Allen would have any connections with Brielle, he’s just amon supervisor,, Brielle is a millionaire.. Come on.. ” Mirah urged her friend, trying to convince her that everything would be okay.


    La nodded, trying to believe what Mirah had said. She hopes whatever she said is the truth. She can’t afford to go to jail, she has a brighter future ahead.


    ” Alright then, I hope everything goes as nned ” La muttered.


    ” Ofcourse it will, bold up ” Mirah said bodly and La couldn’t help but let out a chuckle at how confident she looked when saying those words.


    ” You seem really confident in Shane, like you’ve known him for a very long time now ” La teased and Mirah chuckled. ” Ofcourse, I’m damn sure he wouldn’t let a scratch on his recement bride.. it seems he cares about you a lot ” Mirah said and La’s expression changed to a sad one.


    ” Well, it doesn’t seem like that,, it seems like he was happy with me leaving, like he couldn’t wait for Brielle toe back to him” She muttered.


    ” Well, I don’t think it’s that way.. ” Mirah stated, squatting over to her level. She was standing before while La was sitted on the bed.


    ” I think he cares about you a bit. ” Mirah muttered and La raised her head to Mirah’s. ” But, why would he?, He has a wife now ” She muttered and Mirah let out a chuckle.


    ” You answer that question yourself… ” Mirah trailed off as she got up on her feet.


    ” Why would you care or feel a thing for him?, when you’re aware that he’s married now and you two can’t be together ” Mirah said and without waiting for a reply, walked out of the room,, leaving La alone to her thoughts.


    ” I feel a thing for him? ” She asked herself loudly. ” I shouldn’t right?, It’s wrong.. he’s married now, I’m just his recement bride… ” She muttered to herself.


    The ringing tone of a cell phone jolted her out of her thoughts.


    She clicked on the green button and his thick voice rang melodiously in her ears.


    ” La… ” He called in a thick voice that she couldn’t help but melt at how sweet his voice rang in her ears.


    ” Shane… ” She stuttered in a low voice as she couldn’t find her voice. ” Are you okay? ” His calm voice rang in her ears and she snapped out of her thoughts. She cleared her throat. ” Um, yeah… I’m fine,, you’re done with the meeting? ” She found herself asking the most dumbest question ever. She only wanted to have a long conversation with him.


    He released a huff sigh before talking,, ” Yeah, I’m done with it and I must say it’s quite exhausting ” He replied, his words a bit longer than she had expected.


    ” Sorry then, tho I’m a bit suprised that you decided to go to work today, it’s just two days after your wedding ” La said in a soft voice, biting her lips. What’s wrong with her? Why’s her voice suddenly sounding so soft and why’s she so nervous ’cause she’s on a call with him.


    ” Yeah, I just had to attend to some few things and it’s done now…. So?, us told me you called? ” He asked, going straight to the reason why he had called.


    ” Um, yeah… I wanted to thank you,, I went home and saw those stuffs you gave to my mom and dad ” She muttered and he let out a chuckle and she suddenly wished she was there to see that cute smile of his.


    ” Why would you suddenlye to the conclusion that I did it? ” Shane asked. ” Huh? ” She asked, unsure of what to say.


    ” Um.. I just thought you… wait, you didn’t do it ” She asked nervously. ” Ofcourse I did, was just ying some mind tricks on you… Alright, I have to go.. You’re wee… ” ” Bye sweetie ” He rushed at once and hanged up while La stared on, dumbfounded.
