As usual, rita runs up to meet me when Zane drops me off at school before leaving for his own pack. And of course, she has that slutty longing look in her eyes when she nces at my mate. If I weren’t sure of Zane’s love for me, I would have cracked this bitch’s eyes out. After onest kiss, I get out of the car and walk toward her.


    “Hey, rita, that was a great party. I’m sure you enjoyed it a lot,” I remarked sarcastically. She ignored my tone and took me by the hand.


    “Yes, I am so proud of it myself. After your birthday party, mine was the bomb,” she eximed happily. I nodded, it looked like she really had the need to outdo my party. When we’re near the school building entrance, I turned to her.


    “rita, I urgently need to talk to you about a private matter. Do you have an hour off after Science ss?” I asked her. She was startled by my tone first, but didn’t ask for an exnation.


    “Yes, I’ll be waiting for you in the hallway”, she answered and entered her Communication Management ss. Sighing, I gaze after her and then walk to my locker. I look at the time on my phone and see I still have half an hour before my sses start. I decided to spend it in the cafeteria going through my social media ounts. This weekend I shot some more pictures of Zane and me that I want to upload. I order my favorite Lasagna and sit in my usual spot.


    When I post the photos of us in Zane’s new Rover, I quickly see the reactions pouring in. One is from Saphira, Alpha ry’s girlfriend. I saw her dancing provocatively with him during the party. She is a beautiful blonde with striking green eyes, which hold a somewhat sad glimmer, to my impression. The way she danced with Alpha ry proved that they had been good friends for a long time.


    ‘Congrats, Lady Mercedes. Let yourself be pampered, you deserve it’, she wrote under the picture. I clicked on her ount and saw several pictures where she was on vacation outside the pack or in business meetings.


    Although we’re both from Silver Moon, I’ve never had close contact with her. She is about four years older than me and actually should have already met her mate. But I doubt that is the case, the way she handled Alpha ry proves otherwise. Too bad, because she is so stunning and civilized, has such an elitist appearance, while I’m sure she is not a high ranking. Maybe her mate is an Alpha or Beta, time will tell. So, he seemed determined to make me blush indefinitely about what happened. I have to regain my usual posture, otherwise, I will be the permanent victim of his bully. I swallow a few times and lower my eyes to ce my backpack closer to myp. When I look back at the Alpha, my old confidence is back.


    “Yes, I told my mate about it and then everything was fine again”, I responded ambiguously, blinking at him. Much to my delight, his eyes widen and the smile faded from his face. So, he got my hint. Now it’s my turn to look amused at him.


    “And I can tell you that he has handled it very exciting”, I sneered.


    Suddenly he starts to roar withughter. And I have to say, he looks a lot better when he’s this rxed. Only now do I notice the dimples in his cheeks and a split between his front teeth. It’s so sexy. And his sense of humor is so infectious. I think I should take his offer of befriending seriously, if only during lectures.


    Returning to his senses, he taps the table with his fingers again.


    “And have you spoken to rita about that spectacr show?” he wanted to know. “I can imagine the look on her face when she finds out we saw her million-dor act. Why didn’t we take a picture of the scene?”


    I’m almost suffocating.


    Wide-eyed and frozen in my seat, I re at the man. Would he really have dared? When Alpha ry notices my reaction, he bursts outughing again. Then I realized that he had shut me down again. I stare at him, brooding like a peasant with a toothache. He seems to be enjoying himself on my ount this morning and everything in me is screaming for revenge.     I’m racking my brains on how to get back to him.


    “Alpha”, I started slowly. “I saw your mother arriving when I left the party”. I intentionally build in a break and study my nails. “And she asked me where your father was.” There it is already.


    He is shocked as hell, he hadn’t counted on this. He runs his hand through his hair a few times, staring at me to make sure I’m serious.


    “Telling you, Alpha! She just drove by as I was waiting for Zane. And she wasn’t really pleased”, I put some salt in his wound.


    “And you told her what we saw?” he asked tensely. Slowly I raised my eyes at him, leaving him in suspense a little longer. This game with the Alpha gives a whole new dimension to our interaction. But then, I haven’t seen this side of his character before. His eyes bulge in anticipation of my answer.


    “Nah”, I relieved him and now it’s my turned to howl withughter.


    The relief on his face is worth the price….
