Chapter 18: Heat
"Ashley, Anna is here," her mom said as both Ashley and Jake looked at each other. Ashley''s blood
began to boil at the name of the girl, who betrayed her. Ashley really didn''t want to see Anna''s face
right now, and the fact that her mom still allowed her in here, after Jake told her something happened
between them really pisses her off.
"MOM, I-
Before Ashley could finish her sentence, the knob on her door turned before opening revealing Anna,
who looked 10 times as horrible as Ashley. Jake''s eyes couldn''t help but widen in amazement as he
scanned her appearance. She looked like she cried the entire night, plus the hangover was already
beginning to take an effect on her.
The room was filled with silence, rather awkward silence as Anna stood there staring at anything but
Ashley''d deadly res. She was nervous, terrified, and depressed. All she wants is forgiveness, but
judging by the death re she was getting, forgiveness was thest thing on Ashley''s mind right now.
"What are you doing here?" Ashley asked in a cold, harsh tone as Anna forced the saliva down her
throat before answering, "I was wondering if we can talk?" She asked before ncing at Jake, who
smirked, "Alone," she said as Jake''s smirk widened, "Why can''t you just say it in front of me?" Jake
asked as Anna sighed frustratedly, "Because, it doesn''t concern you," she said as Jake folded his
arms, "Actually, it does concern me, so start talking," he said this time in a serious tone. Anna looked at
Jake and then Ashley, she thought Ashley would at least tell Jake to beat it but she didn''t budge.
Anna took a deep breath before pleading her case, "Ashley, I swear I didn''t know Tatiana was nning
this," she said as Ashley scoffed while folding her arms, "What do you mean, you didn''t know and why
would you do this Anna, I thought you were my best friend," Ashley said guilt tripping Anna, who indeed
felt guilt.
"I''m sorry, it''s just she m-made me think that you were," she stuttered unable to finish her sentence as
she nces at Jake.
"What Anna, spit it out," Ashley said growing frustrated, "S-She made me think that you w-were trying
to t-take Jake from m-me," she said looking down in shame as the room went silent.
Ashley stared at her best friend in shock while Jake''s body tensed up. he knew Anna had a thing for
him, but he didn''t know that she would go this far. "Why would you think that?" Ashley asked as Anna
sighed again, "Because I liked Jake and then Tatiana found out, she filled my head with all these lies
and made me think that you take Jake away from me," she said as Jake quickly stepped in.
"Look, first of all, nobody is taking me away from anybody because I don''t belong to anybody, so get
that out your head and secondly, tell your cousin if she thinks, she could ever drug me again and get
away with it, then she got another thinging," he said before leaving the room.
Anna stared at Ashley, who nkly stared right back at her, "Ash, I-
"Is that all you came here for?" She coldly asked, "No, I came to say that I''m sorry and I hope you can
forgive me," she said Ashleyughed before standing upon her feet.
"Forgive you?" Ashley asked in disbelief as Anna nodded while her eyes were pleading, "Forgiveness
is thest thing on my mind right now, Anna, you don''t deserve my forgiveness, what you deserve right
now is an ass-whooping.
Anna looked into Ashley''s eyes as hers filled up with tears, "I''m really sorry, Ash," she said as Ashley
shook her head, "No, you''re sorry that you got caught," she said as Anna quickly shook her head, "No,
I swear, I''m truly sorry, I feel so guilty and I wanted to back out, I swear," she said, "When did you want
to back out Anna?" She asked as Anna looked away.
"That''s what I thought, please leave Anna, I''ve had enough," she said as Anna began to panic, "But-
"No, buts Anna, please leave," she said as she was getting tired of the drama as she walked towards
her bed before getting in it.
Anna knew she couldn''t do anything else to convince Ashley to forgive her, so she did what she told
and left but not before apologizing again.

After Anna left, Katie came to check on Ashley, who was cuddled up in bed. "Ash, sweetheart," she
called out while walking through the door and further inside her bedroom. "Why did you let her in?"
Ashley asked while staring at the ceiling, "What do you mean, honey, Anna is your best friend, she
wanted to talk to you," she said not getting why her daughter was so upset, "Well, I didn''t want to talk to
her and she''s not my best friend," she said as her mother sighed, "Ashley, what is going on, why are
you acting like this?" She asked, "It''s nothing, Jake told you something happened between me and
Anna, and yet you still allowed her toe up here," she said as her mother crossed her arms.
"Ashley, I don''t know what happened between you and Anna and if I did then I would have never
allowed her, so don''ty down there and try to argue with me," she said as Ashley sighed.

"I''m sorry, mom, but can I be left alone?" She asked as her mom''s face softened before she sighed,
"Fine, but this discussion isn''t over, remember our pact," she said before leaving.
After her mom left, Ashley snuggled back into her warm sheet, closing her eyes before the sound of her
door opening caught her attention. She didn''t bother to open her eyes thinking that the person would
leave. Soon her door closed as she rxed but then there footsteps moving towards her bed.
She silently gasps as she felt soony down behind her before wrapping their arm around her waist.
"Jake!" She whispered as he hummed, "W-What are you doing?" She asked as he shifted closer to her,
"Just rx, all this drama is exhausting me out," he said snuggling into her hair as she tensed up, "I
said rx, stop tensing up," he said, "I''m trying, I can''t help it, this feels weird," she said as he sighed
before turning her around until her head rests under his chin.
Ashley remained quiet as her face felt hot. "Jake," she called out as he hummed, "Did you know that
Anna liked you?" She asked as Jake pulled her closer, "I had my assumption," he said as she nodded
before her eyes began to get heavy.
"Ashley, I promise, I will never let anyone hurt you, I''ll protect you."
