“What?” When Shadow heard this, her legs almost went weak. Panic surged through her veins. “I can’t do this! I don’t know how!”
Although she despised this man with every fiber of her being, she wouldn’t stand idly by and watch him die before her eyes. She was no fool to sacrifice herself along with him.
Even though she was nothing more than an unwanted child, a product of failed conception, even though Jason and Lisa had taken her in as a curse upon themselves and never truly epted her, she refused to give up hope for a better life.
Just because this man had a death wish, it didn’t mean she desired the same fate!
Alpha Kilian’s eyebrows raised. “Or would you prefer to join me in the grave?”
Though his tone remained indifferent, an undeniable firmnessced his words.
It seemed she had no choice but to steel herself.
With a pallid face, Shadow retrieved the items he requested.
Ever since she had married into the Lances family, her life had already crumbled beyond repair. What worse fate could befall her? Death? Perhaps that would be the best way to end her wretched existence.
A sad smile curved her lips.
After gathering the necessary tools, she sat beside him and grasped the de in her hand. Though she struggled to remain calm, her trembling hands betrayed her fear.
“I will remove it,” she stated, using the de to carefully peel back the fresh edge of his wound, her focus intently fixed on Alpha Dominic’s condition.
But she discovered that apart from his pallor and the beads of sweat on his forehead, he disyed no notable reaction, not even a slight furrow of his brow.
Meanwhile, she, the one performing this task, quaked with terror.
Yet one thing struck her as peculiar-he continued to gaze at her, unwavering, throughout the entire ordeal.
She could sense his weakness, but a glimmer of strength lingered in his eyes.
Shadow couldn’t help but speak. “Don’t look at me.”
Alpha Kilian wasn’t asposed as he appeared. The pain coursing through his body threatened to make him scream. With the amount of blood he had lost, his vision blurred on the edge of consciousness.
However, when he peered at Shadow, the pain miraculously dulled.
“No need to be so nervous. I trust you. You won’t let me die,” Alpha Kilian’s voice was gentle yetced with determination.
She had never experienced such trust and value from another. She gritted her teeth and focused on extracting the bullets.
It felt like an eternity.
When Shadow finally removed the bullet, she was drenched in sweat. “It’s done.”
After washing her hands in the nearby basin, she scrutinized Alpha Kilian and asked with concern, “How do you feel?”
Previously, she had considered Alpha Dominic aplication in her life. Though her perspective hadn’t shifted entirely, she couldn’t help but admire him now.
Throughout the process, he didn’t cry out in pain, nor did he sumb to unconsciousness. In fact, heforted her in each step, as if she were the one being operated on. Such inhuman determination she had only witnessed in movies.
Conversely, she, the one performing this task, trembled with fear.
She began to sense an unfathomable mystery within this man, a mystery that bordered on frightening.
“Bring me a pen. I’ll make a list of the medicine you need to buy,” Alpha Kilian’splexion may have paled, but his words held unwavering power.
Shadow jotted down the list and left to purchase the medicine.? 2024 N?v/el/Dram/a.Org.
She meticulously searched through multiple pharmacies before acquiring all the necessary items.
Upon opening the door, Alpha Kilian observed Shadow carrying several stic bags, eachbeled with a different pharmacy. A barely perceptible smile of satisfaction crept upon his lips.
What a clever and considerate woman.
Despite her vehement hatred for him, or more urately, for Alpha Dominic, she set aside her pride and aided him.
She performed admirably, even without a doctor’s degree.
Presumably, she believed he was being pursued by enemies, hence her caution in selecting multiple stores to avoid suspicion.
Alpha Kilian sneered. He had underestimated this woman.
Shadow retrieved the medicine, crouching in front of him. “I will apply the medicine. If it hurts, let me know. I’ll be gentle.”
Alpha Kilian remained silent until she finished tending to his wounds. And in that moment, it was apparent that this affable man bore no resemnce to someone who had been shot.
Just as she moved to stand, he reached out and seized her. Lowering his head, he pressed his lips against hers, kissing her with passion.
“I told you not to wear your sses.”
