Chapter 72: Testing Him


    CHAPTER SEVENTY:


    Testing Him

    The meeting wrapped up earlier than they originally nned. It went smoothly and the problems were


    smoothened down almost immediately.


    The people inside the conference room started bustling, they are discussing things that are either


    relevant with the meeting that just ended or just random conversation that involves their hobbies and


    past times.


    Although the meeting is already adjourned, you can notice that none of them left their seats. Behind the


    loud and noisy discussions of the others, you can hear small and inaudible murmurs. These group of


    people that gossips were looking at a certain direction.


    It was Tyler who was sitting at the opposite of the table. He was with Sharon, and they were discussing


    about their meeting after this.


    If you listen closely to the murmurs directed to him, the context of these is about what happened earlier.


    About the child he brought with him.


    They have bunch of questions in their mind, but they were afraid to voice them out. Their questions


    remained stuck in their throat, and they just watched Tyler and Sharon exit the room without a word.

    The door opened and Tyler and his secretary entered inside.


    They can see a small head on the back of the sofa, the head turned around to look. When he saw


    them, it hopped off the sofa and greeted.


    “Hello.”


    Tyler looked at the coffee table and a satisfied smile surfaced on his lips when he saw that the te on


    the table is left with nothing but crumbs of his foods. Even the ss of juice is emptied. It seems like


    his guest liked the dessert that they have in the office.


    “Hello Kai, sorry for making you wait.”


    The boy shook his head. “It’s nothing. I didn’t wait for too long.”


    Sharon, who was behind Tyler, raise a brow and gave the boy a long stare. Kai caught her staring and


    he stared back; Sharon only smiled at him before reminding Tyler about the lunch meeting.


    Tyler nodded his head and held out a hand to Kai, “Let’s go?”


    Kai furrowed his brows and asked in confusion. “Where?” Nheless, he epted his hand.


    “You’reing with me.”


    Kai paused and looked up at him. “It’s a meeting, right? Wont it bother you and your meeting partner


    when someone like me is there?”


    “Someone like you?” Tyler mirrored his confusion. “What kind of someone are you?”


    He pursed his lips into thin line. “A kid.”


    This made the other two chuckle silently. Tyler shook his head and said, “It’s okay, you can just seat


    next to our table. It’s not bothering at all.”


    Kai oh’ed and nodded his head, understanding what he said. Satisfied with his response, Tyler


    tightened the grip on his hand and gently pulled him towards the door.


    “Let’s go?”

    In their ride inside the elevator, Tyler asked Kai what they will bring when they visit the hospital. Kai


    said it’s not necessary, but the other one insisted. The boy gave up and with a deep thought, he said


    that it would be nice if they bring fruits.


    Tyler was amused. He was silent for a while, and he thought he was just having a hard time choosing.


    But when he opened his mouth, he suggested the mostmon option there. It seems like the little


    one knows how to be a considerate fellow.


    He did not refute his suggestion and simply said okay and went along with it.


    Then they arrived at the first floor.


    Tyler’s smile faded when he noticed themotion. The three exited the elevator and was weed


    by a ruckus. Near the elevator, two employees were gossiping. Tyler tapped one of them.


    “What?!” The one who was tapped spatted, when he saw who he shouted at, his soul almost lost his


    body. “S-sir Tyler!”


    Shit, why do his hot head act up today of all day? What if he gets fired like the other two?


    Hispanion was also startled, and he greeted Tyler with fear. The others in the vicinity also noticed


    him and greeted. The earlier noisy floor is deadly quite. Tyler quickly sweeps a nce over before


    staring at the one who got angry at him out of nowhere.


    “Speak.”


    It was only a single word, but the word carried a heavy feeling. Without the help of other words, he


    immediately understood the meaning behind that word. In fear, he stuttered.


    “I- uh,” his eyes traveled down and saw the boss he was afraid of is holding a kid’s child carefully. The


    kid was also staring up at him. His eyelid twitched and he had a conflicted feeling. Before getting his


    ass fired, he get back to the topic immediately. “The thing is-“


    “Sir!” Before he can even finish his words, a woman, Ana, suddenly rushed towards them.

    Her face was haggard and there were tears streaming down her face. Her makeup was also ruined,


    and it made her face unsightly. The mascara made a ck waterfall on her eye to her cheeks and her


    fakeshed are almosting off.


    Seeing her, Tyler understood what had transpired.


    He bored his gaze to her.


    Ana shouted. “Sir- sir! How can you do this to me? I have mouths to feed! You can’t fire me just like


    that!”


    Seeing her advance like a raging bull, her coworkers were kind enough to stop her. Tyler instinctively


    shielded Kai behind him. Sharon gently pulled the kid beside her.


    “Ana, how dare you create a ruckus inside mypany?” He looked behind her. “And why is it that you


    haven’t packed your things yet? If I remember correctly, you’re not part of thispany anymore.”


    This made her more hysterical, “But sir!” Her gazended on Kai. “How can you fire me from something


    like that? I-I just did not let the boy enter because- I was protecting the image of thepany!”


    Tyler frowned in annoyance. “Destroying the image of thepany? How letting a child inside a


    company destroys its image?”


    “W-well…” Ana hesitated.


    Tyler sighed, “Stop, you’re wasting my time.” He turned and offered his hand to Kai. “Come,”


    The child did not hesitate and went to him. He held his hand like he did it numerous times. Tyler smiled


    and satisfaction then looked up at Sharon. “Let’s go.”


    “Yes sir.”


    The three turned their backs on them and walked away. As they were about to exit the ce, Ana


    shouted again, gaining some courage out of nowhere.


    “Wait!” She shouted and managed to free herself from the hands that is stopping her. Her colleagues


    were not able to stop her anymore, but she stopped just a few meters behind them. “How about miss


    Sheryl?”


    Tyler stopped walking but he did not turn back. Ana thought he caught him off guard, it made her smile


    with satisfaction and continued. “How about miss Sheryl? If she knows, how will she react about you


    having a mistress- and worst- you two have a child together!”


    These made the others murmur amongst themselves. It gave her more confidence. “Ha! And if the


    media knows, do you think thepany won’t tarnish its name? Who thought that the outstanding


    young CEO is an unfaithful man? If your engagement broke, the masses will sympathize with Sheryl


    and curse you and that bitch mistress of yo-“


    “Miss Ana,” he turned and stared at her with cold green ice. His stares were hard, and it felt like he was


    staring at her very own soul. It wasn’t just her who felt it, almost all of them shuddered under his gaze.


    Ana gave a short and small whimper. “Do you want me to make sure that you’ll never ever be able to


    feed your children again?”


    It was a threat that made her heart turn cold. Ana unconsciously stepped back.


    “Don’t you dare test me,” he addressed her, both all of them thought that it was directed to them. “I


    pretty have a long patience and understanding, but they’re not infinite.”


    “So don’t test me, or I’ll make sure to use every means to make your life miserable as the beggars you


    usually ignore or sneered at.”
