    Ava and I drove to Khalid’s school to drop him off before going back so we could interview the bodyguards I’d asked the detective to get.

    We were still talking when my phone rang and I picked it up to see that it was the bodyguard, “our car was attacked and they took Khalid with them.” He exined breathlessly as soon as I picked the call.


    Just before I could ask and get a hold of what was going on the call disconnected and I could feel my heart aching.
