Warner froze in his tracks, that all–too–familiar look of impatience creeping back onto his face.
Evadne let go of Thaddeus‘ hand and marched up to Warner with the speed of a tempest.
The next second, her slender arm swung through the air, her fiery blue eyes zing with fury as she
pped the privileged man across the face–not once, but twice!
The sound resonated, leaving the onlookers, including Thaddeus, in shock.
Warner himself was stunned beyond belief, and it wasn’t until the sting on his cheek red up and
blood trickled from the corner of his mouth that he fully grasped what had happened.
He had been pped!
“Evadne!” Warner covered his face with his hands, his voice shaking with rage as he struggled to hold
back his fury.
Thaddeus strode over with long, determined steps, wrapping his protective arms around Evadne, his
gaze upon Warner dark and foreboding.
Warner felt a chill down his spine, the pain on his face momentarily forgotten under the hellish stare.

Her defiance was palpable.

“Ungrateful?” Thaddeus‘ cold eyes darkened, his lips barely moving. “As you say, it was Suri who
sought the medicine for Evadne. The debt of gratitude is owed to Suri, and by extension, York. What
does it have to do with you?”
Warner, his face as dark as the bottom of a pan, stormed off like a ruffled rooster.
Evadne, calm as the winter moon, her voice icy, “You say I owe the Bright family? Fine, then take my
womb. It’s useless to me. I don’t want children. You want it, take it!”

Knowing he had no advantage, either in strength or in wit, Warner’s face turned beet red as he made a

Evadne’s eyes widened, “What? He’s hardly recovered, how can he start work so soon? Chasel said
he needed rest! Is he in a hurry to reincarnate or something?”
Despite her harsh words, her deep concern shone through.
The mention of Chasel cast a shadow over everyone’s mood.
Aviana sighed, wrapping an arm around Suri’s waist, “Suri, why are the men of the Bright family so
stubborn? Can’t they be a bit more enlightened instead of sticking to their old ways?”

Suri’s eyes twinkled, “Chasel isn’t a kid anymore, and the Brights can try to control him, but how long
can they really keep it up? When hees back home, if you need him, you can always hop on a

Evadne studied Suri’s expression intently, sensing something was off. She felt like Suri was holding

As she pondered, the heavy sound of footsteps approached.
Cassius moved like a brisk wind, striding urgently towards the exit.
