Evadne had been enjoying theforts of home for three consecutive days, her routine consisting of
little more than eating and sleeping. She was like a piglet in a pen, nursing on slop.
Her stepmothers were all too keen to pamper her. Myra was in charge of the kitchen, preparing a
steady stream of delicious dishes for Evadne.
Three dayster, she stepped on the scale and found that she had gained a whopping six pounds!

“I’ll be a pig if I keep this up!” Evadne wailed in despair.
“Alright, alright, we’ll ease up after this meal!” Myra and Aviana cajoled, leading Evadne back to the
dining room.
Emeric and Jareth were out of town for an important event, leaving Evadne to have lunch with her three
stepmothers.
“Miss Evadne! Good news!” Jason burst in, his eyes sparkling with glee. “Glynnis has been implicated
in a business scandal and is now under police custody! Elspeth is running around like a headless
chicken, and Mr. Frederic is busy trying to get his daughter out of trouble!”
“Ah, it took them three days to handle Glynnis. The Elmsworth police department could learn a thing or
two from our Skyrim guards.” Evadne wasn’t surprised, she simply picked up a napkin and dabbed at
her lips.
“Well, Glynnis is the heiress of a wealthy family. The police can’t just act rashly.”
Suri ced another pastry on Evadne’s te. “Here, have another one. Once you’re back in
Elmsworth, you won’t get to enjoy Myra’s cooking.”
“Er, I really can’t eat anymore!” Evadne shook her head, covering her mouth as she let out a small
burp. This prompted a round ofughter from her stepmothers. Observing Evadne’s adorable antics,
Jason couldn’t help but smile. He moved closer and gently patted her back, afraid that she might
choke.
“Miss Evadne, take it easy,” he advised.
Suri, ever observant, caught the affectionate gesture. She didn’t say anything, but she noted Jason’s
tenderness for Evadne.
“Sure, Glynnis from the Abernathy family is a troublemaker who has repeatedly provoked our Evadne,
and deserves punishment. But I think Elspeth is the one who really should be arrested! She needs to
be drained of her malicious intentions!” Aviana eximed, banging her hand on the table. “The woman
has caused nothing but trouble for Evadne, and I refuse to believe that she’s not behind it all! She’s
more toxic than a venomous rat!”
Seeing that her husband wasn’t around, Aviana hadpletely thrown dining etiquette out the window.
Myra, whose heart was racing, quickly stuffed a pineapple pastry into Aviana’s mouth to silence her.
Evadne’s eyes darkened upon hearing this. Apparently, there was a deep–seated enmity between
Myra and Elspeth,
After lunch, Evadne decided not to question Myra directly, but instead went to Aviana’s room to gather
more information.
“Myra did indeed work with Elspeth at NexGen Network for quite some time before marrying Emeric.
They were both signed artists of the same agency. However, while Myra was one of the top actresses,
Elspeth was often relegated to ying the role of the viin in Myra’s shows.”
“Knowing Elspeth’s maniptive nature and intense jealousy, she must have tried to sabotage Myra’s
sess, right?” Evadne spected.
“That’s it. She…” Aviana was almost slipped out. “Oh no, I promised Myra that I will keep it secret.”
“Aviana! Elspeth must have been bullied–Myra. Don’t you want to avenge her.”
“Aviana indeed had a grudge against Elspeth. Otherwise; she won’t quit showbiz in her prime time.”
Suri’s cold voice suddenly came, scared the two.
“Suri, when did you get here? I didn’t notice at all,” Evadne said, catching her breath and feeling
relieved that it wasn’t Myra who had overheard them.
“From the moment you two started chatting. Do you two have a misunderstanding about the concept of
whispering?” Suri nced outside, closed the door, and walked over to them. “Aviana, there’s no need
to hide anything now. Evadne is grown up. She should know about certain things.”
Evadne quickly grabbed Suri’s slightly cold hand, waiting for her to speak.
“Out of jealousy for Myra’s talent and poprity, Elspeth constantly tripped her up and yed tricks on
her, forcing Myra to be bullied and ostracized by the entire television station. In the end, someone
drugged her, causing her to lose face at a major event and almost ruin her reputation.”
Suri took a deep breath, managing to calmly recount this dark past.
“Drugged?” Evadne asked in a choked voice. “Did someone?”
“Not that kind of drug,” Suri quickly rified. “It was a banned substance that affects the nervous
system. It’s no longer found in Windhelm, but it was quite popr in the entertainment industry back in
the day. You could say it’s a kind of soft drug that seriously harms people’s health.”
Evadne and Aviana were both taken aback, their eyes instantly reddened!
Of course, Suri was the heiress of the Bright family, a renowned pharmaceutical dynasty and now the
leading pharmaceutical corporate group in the country. They would certainly be familiar with such
matters!
“So, what happened next? What happened after that?” Evadne asked, gripping Myra’s hand tightly.
“Then, on the day of the NexGen Network anniversary celebration, she wet herself on stage in front of
everyone.”
Thest words left Suri’s eyes moist.
“Damn it, how could this happen?” Aviana was livid, her fist smashing the vanity mirror into pieces.

feeling of beingughed at by others that cut her to the bone! Myra, once a big beauty who was the talk
of the town in Hollywood.
However, she left a lifelong shadow on her favorite stage, and she might never have the courage to
be the dazzling, alluring Myra again!
“Suri, how can you be sure that it was Elspeth who did this?” Evadne tried to remain calm, asking in a
cold voice.
“At the time, Emeric and I found a lot of evidence, but indeed, there was nothing concrete to pin the
crime on Elspeth.”
Suri shook her head with regret, ‘Elspeth always used to bully Myra, and she had an unclear
rtionship with the TV station head. Myra had a hard time at the station and couldn’t break her long–
term contract, so she had to grit her teeth and bear it. Moreover, I’ve looked into it, and Elspeth did
have her agent purchase that kind of drug from the market around the time of the anniversary. But even
so, there was no substantial evidence that could conclusively link her. After all, there were many
performers at Elmsworth who were using that drug at the time.”
“That’s enough.”
Evadne slowly closed her eyes, and when she opened them again, her beautiful eyes were a bright
red, “As long as I believe she’s the culprit, that’s enough.”
