Chapter 48 Strange Looks
When I got up in the evening, Evie was already home. When she saw meing out of the room, she
widened her eyes in shock.
"Why did youe back so early today? Don''t you need to work overtime today?"
"I took leave today, so I didn''t go to work."
I stretchedzily, yawned, and answered Evie.
"You asked for leave? Really?"
Looking at me in shock, she felt a little incredulous.
I responded faintly. Seeing my unhappy expression, Evie looked at me with a puzzled expression.
"Where did you gost night? You didn''te home."
"Working overtime."
Hearing Evie''s words, the expression on my face froze, and I exined guiltily.
"Working overtime? Why are you lying to me? Whatpany would ask their employees to work the

Evie trailed off and raised her eyebrows. Although she didn''t finish her sentence, her meaning was very
