Chapter 87 Fickle in Affection

    Chapter 87 Fickle in Affection

Harriet couldn''t refuse, she went up and gave him a hand, walked him slowly towards the entrance of

the apartment and then followed his instructions to get the key from one of his pockets.

After they finally got the door open, Len immediately went into his room and looked into his drawer, he

took two pills from the medicine bottle and immediately he was in a much better shape.

"...thank you. I''m sorry about this, we''re meeting for the first time and I couldn''t help you with your

moving, and instead you had to trouble yourself to give me a hand. I hope I didn''t startle you." Len

sounded helpless, he looked a bit sorrowful and his face still flushed from the coughing fit.

Len''s fragile state reminded Harriet about the time when her brother just regained consciousness. He

was just as skinny and fragile looking. She felt sympathetic and was concerned about him.

"Don''t worry about it, Mr. Davis. Rest well and take care, I''m going to take my leave. Oh, I''ll be leaving

    the key on your table."

Len''s face was as red as a tomato when she mentioned the key.

Harriet realized that the man was probably feeling embarrassed, because she had to touch all over him

just now to find his key. His reaction was so innocent that she chuckled, she thought that it was kind of

    cute.

    "I''ll be off."

Len nodded and said, "Yes, thank you."

Harriet settled down in her new apartment and had a few days off. The current drama that she was

shooting for was scheduled to wrap up soon and Harriet wanted to get ready for the new suspense

    drama she signed up for.

Everybody from the drama crew attended the wrap up party.

"Don''t drink too much, Harriet. I have some business to take care and I''ll be leaving early. You have to

go home on your own." Molly reminded Harriet softly at the dinner table.

Harriet nodded, but emptied another cup of alcohol just right after.

"Harriet, let''s have a toast. You looked after me a lot these days, and gave me great hints and tips. I

really think that my acting abilities went up a notch." Cherry was smiling brightly as she said that.

Harriet finished another cup of alcohol in one gulp, and said, "Don''t be such a stranger. It is you and

your talent that made you shine even brighter than before. You were a powerhouse, and your talent

and ability were just waiting to be discovered all these time."

Cherry blushed as she was feeling embarrassed from receiving such praise.

"You really should stop drinking, Harriet." Molly nced at the time and tried to persuade Harriet again.

Cherry gazed at Molly with a sense of assurance and said, "Don''t worry, Molly. I''ll call her a cabter, I

assure you that she''ll reach home safe and sound."

Molly felt relieved after hearing that, though she reminded Harriet to watch out for herself again before

    she left the party.

The rtionship between the three of them blossomed during the shooting, they were best friends at

this point. Molly trusted Cherry, she believed that Cherry would protect Harriet if anything were to

    happen.

"Harriet, everybody in the crew attended this wrap up party. Do you know why Mr. Smith is not here?"

Cherry was asking but she seemed to already know the answer to the question.

Everybody piped in after hearing what Cherry said, one of the actors even said jokingly, "Yeah, why

isn''t Mr. Smith here to congratte you? Did you get on his bad side?"

Harriet smiled a bit awkwardly and said, "We are not close at all, I would never have the chance to do

something that displeases him. You guys are really mean, pulling my leg like that. But it''s okay, I''m a

thoughtful person, I''ll remember not to tell Mr. Smith about what you guys just said."

"See, it''s starting again, I call her bluff. She said she wasn''t close with Mr. Smith, but then she said

she''ll remember not to talk to him behind our backs. How would you do that if you don''t know him so

well, do you talk to him in your dreams?" A few actors started joking without any restraint.

Harriet joined the fun and drank one cup after another.

She normally wouldn''t do something like drinking without control in a party like this, because it was

    N?velDrama.Org is the owner.

easy to lose and embarrassed oneself. But she felt very empty today, she started drinking a lot to fill

    the hole in her heart.

After her conversation with Wesley at the Pop Culture Group, Wesley had not contacted her at all. It

was weird because she signed the insanely unfair contract, he should be wanting to be more intimate

with her, not leaving her alone and not contacting her.

Maybe, just maybe, he found a new lover.

Harriet looked all rxed after the shooting, but it was just an act. And today she felt like she wanted to

drink her heart out to let off some steam and try to forget about her loneliness that she was hiding deep

    in her heart.

"Harriet, it''s about time to leave. I''ll call you a cab and send you home."

Some time had passed and the party wasing to an end. Cherry talked as she tried to support

Harriet by the arm and bring her out.

The driver drove to a residence area, Harriet only realized that it was where she used to live after she

got off the car, not herfy single apartment. She turned around and wanted to leave, "Cherry, you

    made a mistake, I don''t live here."

Cherry was dazed for a moment, "But, this was the address you told me just now."

Harriet shook her head attempting to be more sober, she remembered that she unconsciously gave her

old address on the car just now. She rubbed her temple and said, "Sorry, I made a mistake. I moved

and I gave the wrong address."

Cherry was curious, "Why did you move? It looks pretty nice here."

Harriet nced at the mansion, her lips curved upwards, "It''s quite nice here. But there''s a certain

person here that isn''t very nice, I moved away to avoid him."

Her heart hurt even though she was the one that said it.

She was the one that made the decision, but still felt dejected when Wesley really stopped contacting

her. She didn''t really understand why.

At this moment, a cold voice pierced through from behind, "Who''s not very nice?"

"Wesley Smith, of course." Harriet replied without skipping a beat.

Cherry was stunned looking at the man who was walking towards them. She could see the man''s tall

figure and handsome face under the street lights. She couldn''t tear her gaze away, the man was

    sophisticated and refined.

"Mr. Smith…" She muttered as she hung her head low. She bumped Harriet with her elbow and said,

    "Harriet, it''s Mr. Smith."

Harriet was still buzzed, she frowned and squinted her eyes, trying to take a good look at the man. She

took small steps forward in an attempt to get a better look, but she staggered and almost fell. Luckily

    Wesley caught her in time.

Harriet plunged into the man''s wide chest, she looked up carefully and said, "What are you here for? I

thought you got a new lover and wasn''t interested in contacting me anymore."

Wesley wore an intimidating expression, but his expression soften and he raised the corner of his

mouth as he heard what Harriet said, "What? Are you afraid that I''ll throw you away after getting a new

    lover?"

Harriet stumbled and fumbled trying to stand straight, "I''m not afraid, you are getting married with

another woman anyways. I''m totally indifferent about it, you''re just my money tree."

Wesley''s expression immediately got even darker, "Harriet, do you know what you are saying?"

"I said I don''t really care about you!" Harriet suddenly yelled on top of her lungs, trying to vent off her

    emotions.

Cherry who was standing at the corner gawked at the situation, she was shocked as she looked at the

two people arguing without a care in front of her.

She was right afterall, something was going on between Harriet and Wesley. And their rtionship was

more involved than what she thought!

    "You done gawking?"

The man''s ice cold voice shook Cherry back to reality. She hung her head even lower and was at loss,

"I''m sorry for disturbing you and Miss rk, I''ll be on my way…"

"You''ve seen nothing tonight." A menacing voice threatened her as she was going to turn around and

    leave.

Cherry shivered and replied understandingly, "I''ve seen nothing and I know nothing. All I know is that

I''ve sent Harriet home. That''s all!"

Wesley was satisfied seeing that the woman took the hint, "Now, leave"

"Yes, of course. Goodbye, Mr. Smith, Good night, Harriet!" Cherry left the scene as quickly as possible.

    Cherry Whitty had wits.

Wesley directed his gaze on the woman in front of him, this one on the other hand, wasn''t all that witty

and bright. Even less when she was drunk.

"Why did you leave, Cherry?" Harriet still didn''t understand the situation, she shouted into the

darkness, and then she looked at Wesley with dissatisfaction, "Why did you tell her to leave? Are you

going to drive me home now?"

Wesley held her chin softly, he then raised it up slowly.

"Ask me to be your driver? I don''t think you can afford that."
