Chapter 85 Calling off the engagement

Chapter 85 Calling off the engagement

While Louisa was getting hysterical, Harriet didn''t even bat an eye, she said sarcastically, "The

upbringing of the Jones family is really not well principled, I definitely overestimated your inner

qualities, Miss Jones. If you think about it, we couldn''t really tell who is more entitled to marry Mr. Smith

    between me and you."

"What do you mean?" Louisa red at Harriet.

"Well, people would think that we are at a wet market and not at the Pop Culture Grouppany when

they see you baring your fangs and yelling on the top of your lungs, Miss Jones. You have no respect

    for thepany rules at all."

When it was just her against Louisa, Harriet wasn''t afraid to cross the line at all. However, she was

afraid that Wesley would say something and be on Louisa''s side, and everything she fought for would

    be for nought.

Though this time, Wesley wasn''t acting like he used to before. He wasn''t trying to protect Louisa, he

just coldly gazed at Louisa and said, "Louisa, this is not your territory."

"Wesley, are you going to be on her side as well?"

Louise looked hurt and she was pouting, but she drew in her horn and stopped acting like a hysterical

person. She and Wesley were childhood friends, she knew very well not to test his patience. Plus, she

wasn''t here today just to make a fuss.

    "Escort her out," Wesley ordered.

Louisa couldn''t believe her ears, her eyes were wide open. She was humiliated in front of so many

people and now Wesley wanted her out?

"Wesley, what do you mean?" Louisa tried to break free from Jack''s shackles, "I''m not going to leave!

You haven''t promised me that you will renovate my bar for me!"

Wesley''s eyes were now cold as ice, he stared straight into Louisa''s soul and got mad at the girl for

    once.

"Do you really think that I''m obligated to clean up your mess every time?"

This was Louisa''s first time being yelled at and losing face in front of so many outsiders, she couldn''t

care less that she was in public and said conceitedly, "You are the one that wants to get married to me,

what''s wrong with me asking you to help me out with some trivial matter? Also I haven''t even got angry

at you about your shady affair with this wench!"

Harriet was just minding her own business and was for some reason being brought into the

conversation, she retorted without any hesitation, "Miss Jones, you are the one that''s having an affair

with another man, why are you pointing fingers and ming Mr. Smith instead?"

"Since when I''ve been having an affair? Don''t make false usations!"

Louisa was acting tough on the outside, but in reality she was a nervous wreck inside. She did tell her

friends that her boyfriend was Colin and not Wesley, but only her close friends knew about this. She

was puzzled why Harriet, a nobody, knew about this matter.

Harriet didn''t actually know about anything, though it didn''t stop her from making up stories.

"It''s true, isn''t it? If it wasn''t the case why didn''t you save Mr. Smith''s face during the birthday party?"

Harriet continued saying leisurely, "Also, you insulted me just now. I''m just giving you a taste of your

own medicine. If I was wrong about you, then please forgive me Miss Jones, don''t be so petty."

"You!" Louisa scowled at Harriet, she knew that she won''t win against her in this argument, so she said

to Wesley instead, "Wesley, if you''re going to be like this, I''m going to tell my parents that I want to call

    off the engagement."

She thought that she could threaten the man like this.

However, Wesley wasn''t reacting to it at all, he just answered inly, "Go ahead, recently I was also

thinking if this engagement isn''t suitable for the both of us."

Louisa''s eyes were wide open in shock, she didn''t expect Wesley who always pampered her would say

something like this. But she calmed down immediately.

    "Are you serious, Wesley?"

Even though her value as a woman would drop if the man proactively called off their engagement and

her family would be the joke of their circle, but, Louisa thought about Colin. She felt that it was

okay to embrace the shame so that she could marry Colin instead, as she didn''t have another marriage

    constraining her anymore.

"It is not that easy to enter the Smith family, and we don''t like to force somebody to enter our family."

Wesley replied slowly. He signaled Jack, turned around and walked back into his office. His patience

had run out with these women.

It was the first time that Louisa hit a wall with Wesley, her eyes were filled with confusion.

"Wesley, you should at least help me with the renovation of my bar. I''m tired of the current interior

design, it doesn''t feel trendy enough. I want it to look more unique."

Harriet felt funny hearing Louisa''s plea, she also felt a bit sour.

Louisa brought up the bar again at the end of the conversation, her childish temperament was definitely

the result of the Smith and the Jones family indulging her wills and whims all the time.

Jack stepped forward, he stopped Louisa and said, "Miss Jones, Mr. Smith will attend to your matter

"Hmph!" Louisa red at him as she was unwilling to leave without the matter about her bar being

discussed. She turned around and gave Harriet a death stare as well.

Though in the end, she left with resentment and as she didn''t want to cause a scene anymore. She

was willful, but she didn''t want to cross the line. She would also need to exin herself to her family if

she really made Wesley mad and she wanted to avoid that.

After Louisa left, Jack asked Harriet, "Are you here for the matter about the manager, Miss rk?"

"Not bad Assistant Moor, you got it right." Harriet was smiling calmly, it seemed that she wasn''t worried

about not being able to turn around the situation.

Jack gave her a document, he then said sternly, "You have to sign a contract if you insist on keeping

    your manager."

    She was waiting for this.

Since Wesley didn''t immediately drive her away, she knew that she still could have a say in this matter.

"I would like to go in and talk to Mr. Smith." She received the document from Jack as she said that.

    "Well…" Jack looked troubled.

Wesley''s deep voice travelled from inside of the office, "Come in."

    Seemed like someone was eavesdropping.

Harriet sauntered into the office, she closed the door, walked towards the president''s table and said,

"Mr. Smith, I''m sorry about having an argument with your fiance just now."

She sounded sincere, the man looked up and gazed at her.

From what he remembered, Harriet would never apologize for something that wasn''t her fault, unless

    she needed something from him.

"I thank you for being willing to look past it, and rehire Molly." Harriet said happily.

Wesley nced at the document on her hand and said, "I have not agreed to that yet."

Harriet understood what she had to do. She nced through the contract and but was immediately

    boiling with rage.

"You call this a contract? These are unfair contract uses!"

There were many different rules in ck and white on the contract, and that she had to adhere to all of

them unconditionally. There were rules like being on call all the time, that she should never turn off her

phone, that if there was kissing scene in the script she received she had to discuss it with him first, that

if she needed a malepanion when attending apany event she had to tell him first as well, and

the list went on and on.

"Wesley, not even a strict husband would control his wife like this, you crossed the line." Harriet was

getting angrier the more she read the contract, "I''m not your property, also why are you interfering with

    my work so much?"

Wesley couldn''t be bothered to exin himself, he said inly, "Sign that and I''ll give Molly another

    chance."

    Cat got Harriet''s tongue.

The atmosphere was silent for a bit, and suddenly Harriet came around. She grabbed a pen and

scribbled her name on it, "Is this enough?"

She was thinking that even without signing this contract, Wesley would''ve figured out one way or

another to control her anyways. Since he was technically giving her a "choice", she might as well went

    with the flow.

Wesley was content, but Harriet abruptly pressed his hand down as he tried to take the contract.

"Wait," Harriet said, "I think I''m in too much of a disadvantage with this contract. Could you at least

promise me one thing, Mr. Smith?"
