[Romantasy, graphic violence limited to a few scenes. There is some sexual content, but it is implied and safer than your average network TV show. Designed to be a fun read. Profanity is along the lines of WTF, nothing more.]A young woman of great destiny and a young man of no real consequence come together to share a journey of hardship and self-discovery. In the end, they discover how much they need to rely on each other to fulfill their individual destinies and find true happiness together.Kleo has dreamt of Jack countless times—visions of a love she never expected to find. Now, fate seems poised to finally unite them, but the Fates who write our destiny can be fickle. When an “accident” strands them on a dark forest road, Kleo sees her chance. Yet, what begins as a simple meeting soon pulls them into a deeper, darker mystery. Bound together by visions, magic, and destiny, Kleo realizes she can't face her future alone. She needs Jack—his trust, his strength, and his heart. But Jack may not be the hero fate demands. The truth behind Kleo's past and the will of her unyielding fate could shatter their fragile bond. Will Jack rise to become the hero she needs, or will the truth of what Kleo must become prove too much?Together, they'll journey toward a world of new friends, hidden secrets, and dark shadows, discovering whether love truly has the power to overcome even the cruelest destiny—or if some bonds are fated to break. This is a completed novel; all chapters are uploaded to RR and land somewhere near 150,000 words. Please leave comments or a review if you can find the time. Enjoy!Authors Notes:This novel marks my debut as an author—my first genuine venture into serious writing. I began drafting on October 30, 2024, and wrote the closing paragraphs on Christmas Day of the same year. After setting the manuscript aside, I returned to it on March 16, 2025, to begin the final revision. Initially nervous about revisiting the draft, I found the break gave me valuable perspective and clarity. The writing journey was somewhat chaotic, especially after surpassing my initial target of 125,000 words, intended to be edited down to around 114,000. The story kept expanding, and at one point, I worried it might never end. Fortunately, Kleo and Jack eventually led me to where they needed to go. Interestingly, although I knew the ending from the start and even wrote it early, the final 20,000 words leading to that conclusion presented the greatest challenge. The experience taught me an important lesson: even if you know how your story ends, you must resist the urge to rush ahead. One remarkable aspect of creating this book is that Kleo and Jack seemed to write their own story—I merely typed their words and tried not to interfere too much. Upon re-reading the first two chapters, I was pleasantly surprised to find them in decent shape. Of course, those early chapters required the most revision, largely because the core concept didn't fully crystallize until about 50,000 words into the process. As the story progressed, writing became easier; I grew to understand my characters better, and our communication improved dramatically. I suspect future writing projects will follow a similar pattern.During the pause, I explored the sequel, writing about 50,000 words before deciding to set it aside. It was enjoyable, but something felt off. Interestingly, the very next day, two entirely new characters captured my attention, drawing me into their very different world and story. This fresh project has been fun and challenging, offering less room to go wildly off-track—at least for now.
