Chapter 10 He is Hormone, He is Dopamine


    “I have been waiting for you, Dr. Watson.”


    Riley walked to the office while trembling. Hendrix was giggling while looking at her. He was sitting on


    his chair with his legs crossed.


    Riley wondered why there would be any patients as she was not in charge of the outpatient service that


    day. But she knew everything instantly when she saw Hendrix.


    Riley pressed her hand hard onto the desk as support to relieve the pressure on her legs. She


    examined Hendrix with her eyes and asked, “What is the matter?”


    Hendrix showed a bitter face while twitching his lips and said, "I feel sick throughout my whole body.


    When I woke up this morning, my whole body was sore. Dr. Watson, am I going to die?”


    Riley made a faint smile with her scarlet red lips, "What if I say you are? Are you going to give up your


    treatment?”


    "Of course not. I am not giving up my treatment, I rather live a mess than die peacefully. Come over


    here Dr. Watson, I am counting my life on you.”


    When Hendrix was about to grab Riley’s arm, she said with a deep chilly voice, “Why are you even


    here? This is the hospital, not a yground for you."


    Hendrix replied earnestly, “So, am I not allowed to get sick?"


    Riley caught a glimpse of the other doctors in the office, they pretended that they were focusing on


    their cases. But actually, they were eavesdropping, “Stop fooling around, we will speak after I finish my


    work.”


    There was a radiance of youth essence originating from Hendrix’s young and attractive face. The


    energy seemed to arise from the root of life, “Riley, I am really not feeling well. Listen to my heartbeat if


    you do not believe me, it is pounding really fast.”


    Right after that, he grabbed Riley’s hand and put it on his chest. Riley immediately shook off his hand


    and yelled fiercely, “Hendrix, you better keep your hands off me and be respectful!”


    He had already shown his capability for the first time in George residence. He even came all the way to


    the hospital today just for that? What a rich yboy, seemed like he had nothing better to do.


    Hendrix shrugged his shoulder just like an American, “Riley, tell me the truth. If I am not sick, why is my


    heart beating so fast?”


    Riley scooted a nce at him, then walked to her cubicle while enduring the pain in her knees. She


    then grabbed the white coat hanging on the hanger and put it on.


    Hendrix looked at Riley when she was wearing her white coat. He was fascinated and could not move


    his eyes away. The spotless white coat that she put on covered the curvature on her slim body. But, it


    gave the impression that she was experienced, intelligent, well-organized, and calm. There was an


    unexinable appeal.


    Just as she buckled until the second button, Hendrix lowered his head again and said, “Oh no Riley, my


    heart is beating even faster.”


    Riley gritted her teeth, “Hendrix, if you dare to say something foolish once more, I will find someone to


    kick you out of here!”


    Riley screamed at Hendrix so loud that the whole office could hear the conversation clearly. Everyone


    adjusted the way they sat sneakily to continue eavesdropping at a different position.


    Hendrix shrugged his shoulders again and suddenly sat up straight. He did not deepen his voice


    purposely this time and said, “Riley, how could you not save me? My heart really hurts, ouch! It hurts!”


    Even though Riley was mad, she still rotated her body for a hundred and eighty degrees with both her


    legs as the center. What was this punk trying to do?


    Serena Rose looked up and giggled, “Dr. Watson, just help to examine the patient. Although this is not


    the clinic, you can still check for his heartbeat.”


    Margot Lawson chimed in, “Yes Dr. Watson, that handsome guy has been waiting for you all day. If he


    is fine, he will not be waiting in the hospital for that long.”


    There were four people in the office. Other than Teddy Pearson, the only male doctor, the two females


    were obsessed with the spark and were inciting the whole situation.


    Riley found it impossible to reject but she had no choice. She then coolly said, “Sit down.”


    “Ok! I appreciate your hard work, Dr. Watson.”


    Riley took out a stethoscope and pressed it on Hendrix’s chest, “Sit still and do not move.”


    “Ok, just start anytime, Dr. Watson. Just do whatever you want, I will not resist.”


    “...”


    Other people in the office wereughing so hard that they nearly did a spit take. Was this patient a


    Hendrix’s eyes followed the movement of Riley’s fingers on his chest. He seemed to enjoy the abrasion

    After changing positions and eavesdropping a few times, she took off the stethoscope. She made a


    conclusion, “Punk, there is nothing wrong with your heart.”


    Hendrix did not give up, “Dr. Watson, can you examine the other parts of my body? There must be


    something wrong with me somewhere. Otherwise, why would I keep feeling anxious and shortness of


    breath? Besides, I am also having a bad appetite and blurry visions.”


    Riley switched on herputer and ignored Hendrix’s nonsense, “Visit an ophthalmologist if you have


    a problem with your vision, I cannot help you with that.”


    “My eyes are fine, Dr. Watson. Just check my internals first.”

    Riley opened up a case and switched her tone official and clear. Then she asked, “Name, gender, age,


    any serious medical conditions, any medical history from your family?”


    Hendrix was silent.


    Riley grabbed the torchlight on the table corner, “Show me your tongue.”


    Hendrix was silent.


    “White tongue coating, there must be a gastrointestinal problem…”


    Hendrix immediately replied, “That is what I have just said!”


    Riley rolled her eyes at Hendrix, “I will fill in a medical bill for you, make an endoscopy at the sixth floor


    “Huh? An endoscopy? Is it that serious?”


    Was she serious?


    Riley was writing a lot of things in detail on the paper. But as a doctor, her handwriting was sloppy and


    illegible. She spoke unambiguously, “Without having an endoscopy, how would we know what is


    wrong? How could we provide a precise treatment if we do not know what is wrong? It could be


    gastritis, stomach ulcer, or esophagitis. We would get to know the result from endoscopy.”


    Hendrix was staring nkly at her red lips as she kept talking non-stop. The fluttering on her lips was

    “Ok, I am going right now,” Hendrix smirked as if he had hit the jackpot, even when the purpose of the


    medical bill was to make fun of him.


    The personality that Riley was portraying was charming to Hendrix.


    Hendrix turned back and looked at her when he left the office, it annoyed Riley.


    “Screech!” Serena moved a chair and came near Riley, “No way, are you really asking him to have an


    endoscopy? What kind of endoscopy? Who would help him to make an endoscopy without blood test


    results or making an appointment?”


    Riley took out a case file and clicked her ballpoint pen, “Can’t you tell that he was just fooling around? If


    he was acting like a fool, then I will fool with him. He will just leave after that.”


    “But hey, won’t you be worried that the medical terms that you have mentioned just now would startle


    that good looking young man? What if there is really something wrong going with him?”


    Riley finished going through the case and signed her name. She then put the pen back into the pocket


    of her white coat. Time for another ward round, perhaps it was time to change the wound dressings as

    Riley unusually smiled, “Hormone secretion is not the standard for me to determine whether a man is


    attractive, it’s dopamine.”


    “Damn! I’m impressed. Dr. Watson, have a nice day.”


    Riley frowned deeply when she stood up, the sharp pain in her knee was still there. This flesh wound


    might take quite a long time to heal.


    “Dr. Rose, seems like our best physician was not treating this cute guy nicely. Did you not see it? Just


    now, Dr. Watson was purposely pulling a prank on him.”


    Serena ttened her mouth, “But why do I have the feeling that this cute guy was also flirting with Dr.


    Watson?”


    “Screech!” Teddy moved the chair away, “Women only analyze the surface of any problems.”


    “What does that mean, Dr. Pearson?”


    “Obviously, they were pranking each other. Besides, try to recall what the patient was wearing just


    now.”

    Serena puzzlingly touched her chin, “So, our Dr. Watson is finally going to have a new romance?”


    Teddy grabbed a case file and walked out of the office, he seemed ufortable.


    Riley purposely checked on the patient on the 22nd bed, he seemed to be recovering just fine. She


    advised the patient to not have an emotional fluctuation. There would be no more ball games ying


    on his TV anymore, especially football matches.


    In a ward with eight patients, over half of them would be her patients. She treated her patients so strict


    that sometimes they thought she was not a friendly person. But she was always worried about her


    patients. They were so afraid of her, but they were also impressed at the same time.


    The ward round was over, Riley could no longer withstand the injury on her leg. She walked all the way


    to the emergency room to unwrap the bandage. She frowned heavily and gritted her teeth so hard as it


    was unbearably painful.


    The wound did not recover nicely. The blood dripping wound only umted a small amount of

    She applied disinfectant and medicine to her wound. She did not make any sound even when it was


    painful.


    The emergency room staff were the busiest as there were a lot of emergency cases happening every


    day. Riley nned to leave after rewrapping the wound on her leg. But before that, she overheard


    someone gossiping in the pantry.

    The man was wearing a pair of sunsses. But judging by that height and body size, he must be a


    really good looking man!”


    “That is not something new. A few days ago, Lydia was visiting a patient in this hospital. Do you know


    who that was? It was Euan George, the CEO of MBK International Corporations! He is an eligible


    bachelor! A rich bachelor!”


    “The man who was with Lydia today might be Euan, right?!”

    Riley curled her lips. Sure enough, we were living in a world that judged people by their appearance. If


    you were someone who was good looking, everything you had done could be forgiven.


    It was the same for Euan, right?
