Cowardice
AFTER the dinner meeting, Zoe and Helios left the venue first. Followed by Grant.
“I’m taking the cab—”
“No,” Calyx pulled her closer to him. “I will take you home—”
“To my home, all right, Cal?”
Cal’s brows furrowed and grinned after. “All right,” he replied.
But of course, Cindy knew that Calyx was a great scammer. Well, the man sent her home but
stopped a few meters away from her apartment. He parked his wrangler near the empty lot.
“What are you doing?” Cindy asked, making Calyx form a sly smirk on his lips.
“I miss—”
“Shut up, Calyx, and send me home. I am not in the mood to have sex with you,” she said, frankly,
which made Calyx arch his brow and let out a soft chuckle.
“I was about to tell you that I miss being with you, like this, where we can talk for a while—”
“Oh, shut up. Don’t mock me, Cal. I know you so well.”
Calyx scoffed. “So, that’s how you portray me? That I only want you… because of sex?”
Cindy let out a sarcasticugh. “Aren’t you?”
Calyx doesn’t know how to react at the moment. His grip on the steering wheel tightened.
If only she knew how deep his love is. It’s just that… things are a little bitplicated on his part.
He’s not ready formitment yet.
He was afraid.
People might see that Calyx is brave and strong, but deep inside… he has weaknesses like
everyone else.
All of us have weaknesses.
“You hatemitment, Calyx. So, I will not expect the presence of the thing called love,” Cindy
laughed, “Because I hate getting hope.”
But deep inside, Cindy was hoping that Calyx would open his heart to her.
“I let you do me because I am enjoying it too. I know my limitations—I know certain measures. I
know my ce. And I am just your freaking fuck buddy! Nothing more. So, I hope you don’t ask me
that question again because you know the answer. You’re just interested in me because of the
fucking word sex!”
Calyx was about to open his mouth and speak when Cindy suddenly opened the door on her side
and get off the car.
He tried to reach for her, but Cindy moved down swiftly and closed the door.
Cindy didn’t bother to look back. She scoffed when she was just assuming things that Calyx would
follow her, stop her and kiss her—tame her. But who is she? She’s just his fuck buddy—a freaking
bed warmer.
And she will not expect anything.
Her mind wanted her to give up and leave him, but her heart didn’t want it.
What else can she do? She loves him.
Seeing Cindy walking away from him, it seems like, with one wrong move, he will lose her.
‘Fuck this cowardice!’ he thought.
“Damn!” he cursed and mmed the steering wheel.
He got a dark past that caused him… be afraid to getmitted once again. His past leads him to
trauma.
Calyx understands Helios. They are almost the same. But Helios is brave enough to fight for his
love and even take a risky action for the sake of his love for Zoe and his future child.
And as a friend, he wished Helios a better and more delightful life with his family and was hoping for
a settlement of both sides sooner.

“What are you saying?!” Anger lingered in the man’s voice while he pulled the cor of the man in
front of him. “Are you insane?! It was already settled!”
“I have to do it.”
“Why?! Fuck! Did you realize what will be the effect of your decision?! You will hurt them once
again. You will do it again. You will give them a wound that they may be bringing for a lifetime. Think
wise! Fuck it!”
“This is the only option. Please, help me.”
“Can you enlighten me on what is going on?!”
“He found out—they found out. And for their safety… I need to follow—” the man didn’t finish his
words when the other one pushed him to the floor.
“You know what… you’re a COWARD! You can’t stand your words! You’re worthless. You don’t
deserve them!”
“I know—”
