LitRPG adventure set in an 1900s low-fantasy American West. Skills and abilities and rpg progression elements. This story has a hard-tack male MC and a tough-as-nails FMC. The west is a dangerous place, expect some death and violence. But there time for some quippy banter along the way.Emmett was a soldier, a captain of a platoon in the American Federation Army. A leader of fine men. He led them to their deaths. When the last Dwarf died only a few of his men survived. Their guns, their magic, their bonds, had all just barely been enough. The American Army won, at a terrible cost. That was the war that changed everything.It鈥檚 been ten years, the dwarves are gone, and so is their magic. The lush American continent is turning into a dust bowl and Emmett and his team of survivors have turned to Delving. They brave the desolate American west and the depths of the abandoned Dwarven shafts to find artifacts. His group finally makes a major discovery but the danger doesn鈥檛 end until they return to New Amsterdam and auction off what they found.Except something is happening in New Amsterdam. The hundred year war against the dwarves was a boon for the industrial city. But the last ten years have been hard on the citizens. The Magi-machines have stopped working, the end of a steady flow of mana crystals has brought their golden age of industry to an end. Many people are out of work, and most are out in the cold without a home.Mary Ruth is struggling to keep her family鈥檚 company from going bankrupt. Short of starting a new war, Caliber needs to find new applications for their weapons and munitions manufacturing infrastructure.Mary Ruth has to convince her board of trustees, the banks, and her suppliers to keep the doors open, while avoiding the politics and dark underside of her family鈥檚 history. There is more to New Amsterdam, and the Depths below the city than she or Emmett can imagine.I already have around 10,000 words prepped, and I plan to reach the story鈥檚 climax around 60,000. I will update a chapter each day for the April 2025 Writathon. This is a challenge for me to write two POVs with their own unique voices. I am also branching out into an urban fantasy setting. Hope you enjoy the ride!
