《Potter-verse: The Magical Isles》 Chapter 1 - Persuasive Personality Hospital Wing, Hogwarts - May 13, 1995 A broken body lay in the back of the ward. A small boy, fourteen years old yet he barely reached up to five feet. Messy black hair covered scars on his scalp and gave his gaunt malnourished appearance a ghastly air. It wasn¡¯t the young man¡¯s fault of course. Years of physical abuse and starvation would do that with any boy. Yet after the ¡®adventure¡¯ to save an acquaintance it was he was forming a habit of getting into trouble every year. It was sad really, how emotionally down trodden this young man was. That he risked his very life just for a small piece of acceptance from anyone, anyone at all. For the first time in his life, they began to see who he truly was. The impossible burden he carried, never mind the weight of expectation of a world that abandoned him. One that left him forgotten on the other side of the magical divide. He had no protection, understanding or even the slightest bit of support; even though many of his parents¡¯ friends were still alive and willing to shelter, support and raise him. In fact, that discussion was the exact reason the young man started to wake up. No matter how tired he was, how bruised or battered. It got to the point that even the parents of the child, Ginevra Weasely, were absolutely disgusted with what the young man had been through. The pandora''s box of trouble that was writ large on his skin, a brutal tapestry of marks that told a different story to the publicly held opinion about the young life of Harry Potter, The-boy-who-lived. ¡°Minerva I simply must insist that everything I have done, all I have ever done was in Harry¡¯s best interest! There must be an explanation as to why the boy is damaged so badly.¡± Headmaster Dumbledore exclaimed. ¡°ALBUS! You ruddy fool. Listen up and listen well. I could have raised that poor child, I know for a fact that Lily put my name down in her will.¡± The stern Scotswoman was fuming mad. As you can imagine a woman with skill and power that rivals Dumbledore''s own, her fury was nothing to sniff at. ¡°Now¡¡± ¡°Don¡¯t you dare INTERRUPT you whiskered wanker! I let you speak, so you better listen up.¡± For the first time in his life, since he became a ''working'' adult, Albus Dumbledore was struck speechless. ¡°I don¡¯t want to hear anything about your so-called Greater Good. This will be the last year you ever hold authority over a child you doddering old fool.¡± Pausing, she cast the Patronus charm three times, sending messages to other members of the faculty. ¡°There is no ruddy way, I am going to allow you to remain in control of a school full of children, when you are the Magical Guardian to our Nation¡¯s National Treasure, whilst also neglecting him this badly!¡± At this point even Madame Pomfrey was fully flushed from anger. McGonagal continued on her rant, ¡°It was bad enough what you had us do last year. The very fact that we have had no deaths this year is beyond lucky! You banned me from contacting the DMLE. Which I am going to renege on right now. Poppy? If you wouldn¡¯t mind. I want legal representation on behalf of myself and Mr. Potter for what is about to happen.¡± Healer Pomfrey was known as a kind, no-nonsense woman. Her next actions certainly threw McGonagall, even in all her rage, for a loop. CRUNCH. While Dumbledore fell back on his old wrinkled ass, Madame Pomfrey started shaking her hand out. Replying as she walked away, ¡°Certainly, Minerva. You are free to inform the DMLE of what I¡¯ve just done. After the call I will be checking myself for befuddlement Charms and Potions.¡± ¡°I just don¡¯t believe I wasn¡¯t aware of the extent of the young man¡¯s injuries. I may even lose my magic over this, it has strayed incredibly close to breaking my Healer''s Oath.¡± The gasp of surprised horror from Minerva was warranted. She was horrified that her close friend and confidant from her school days, was at risk of losing the career she loved due to the old fools meddling. ¡°You have so much to answer to Albus. The only reason I¡¯ve yet to slay you in cold blood is the soothing song of your familiar. I have to say, Fawkes, how can you remain loyal to this harmful old fool!? You are a wise creature who has witnessed centuries of life. How can you approve of what¡¯s happened here!¡± ¡°Minerva please¡¡± ¡°NOT ONE MORE WORD ALBUS.¡± She screamed, striding towards him while he attempted to clean himself up and rise to his feet. ¡°Save your breath. I will be leaving this school if I cannot remove you from your position and I am determined to bring young Harry with me.¡± By the end of her epithet she was standing over Albus. Wand illuminated with a sinister light, ready to cast and end the old fool. Standing over him with her wand aimed down at him, it was almost comical how the old man had to cross his eyes to see the wand. ¡°Be silent until the rest of the staff arrive. If I, for any reason feel unsafe, I will end you here and now. Do not breathe, do not move, do not so much as TWITCH. AM I CLEAR?¡± ¡°Remember Albus, I am a transfiguration and duelling Mistress. That means I don¡¯t have to cast the killing curse to make sure I end you here and now. A simple transmutation of your brain would be good enough.¡± Her glare could kill stone it was so fierce.
This was around the time that the young man in question woke up from his dream-like state. Overhearing the confrontation he stayed quiet, still feeling quite exhausted and befuddled by what had recently transpired down in the Chamber of Secrets. His argument with Ron, his near miss with an overpowered obliviate charm or even his conversation with ''Tom Riddle,'' the battle with the Basilisk with the assistance of Fawkes and the Sorting hat. There was a lot that had happened. Yet the longer he lay there the more confused he felt. He must have been heavily Confunded or he was just heavily traumatised? It was strange looking around now, it was like looking through fresh eyes. Everything seemed so inconsequential in the face of what he had overcome. Shaking his head to rid his mind of distraction he inspected what he could see and feel. His body felt a great deal less aches and pain. Which left more questions than it answered. Why did he feel like he should be more than he was right now? What was happening to him? Before he could get lost in his ponderings of what this meant for him, he was interrupted by many footsteps and the sounds of people arguing. It would be more accurate to say they were screaming. A woman who looked like she was playing dress up as a nurse from the 1930¡¯s was being held back as she attempted to physically assault a man who he couldn¡¯t see from his relaxed position on his bed. He could barely make out any details but his blind patting of the surfaces near him as he robotically looked for his glasses and clothes alerted many of the adults present to his wakeful state. By the time he found his glasses, things were at an impasse. His vision was significantly better but still heavily blurred. He could make out details now but nothing further than ten metres away was clear. Currently there were numerous adults in the room that he could see through the gap in the privacy curtains. A handful of which were surrounding a cowering old man who was still laid on the floor. Standing over him was a stern looking woman with a neat appearance that was currently giving him a verbal tongue lashing that made him sweat in sympathy. At some point she was non-stop cursing the bloody faced man in a Scottish drawl that was incomprehensible for those who didn¡¯t grow up in Scotland. And just like that, reality hit this young man like a wet fish to the face. She¡¯s finally standing up for me? This realisation sent the newly revived teen into a mental tailspin. His emotions bounced between disbelief and awe. Overall at first glance it was an unbelievable positive. Love what you''re reading? Discover and support the author on the platform they originally published on. However, if you objectively looked at Harry¡¯s life¡ well. It leaves much to be desired. Being a prophesied nemesis of the most recent dark lord who was hellbent on ending you was not conducive for a long life. Even if he wasn¡¯t sure about the prophesied part. Even with all the chaos around him he could barely muster the attention to even notice that Madame Pomfrey and Fawkes had come over to check on him. Judging by the Sword of Gryffindor and Fawkes¡¯ presence, he assumed that he had just returned from the Chamber of Secrets. Judging by the current confrontation it was also clear that things weren¡¯t normal, he wasn¡¯t sure what sparked the argument but something set them off. Looking at the neighbouring bed with a pair of red-haired adults comforting a weeping teenage girl. Thinking back to his ¡®recent¡¯ memories confirmed this. Yet from the sounds of things, a meddlesome Dumbledore has just pushed the staff one step too far if even his number one cheerleader, Minerva McGonagall, was out for his blood. Nodding to himself, he took a deep breath, preparing himself to get involved and take a more active part in his future. If he was to go live with the Dursleys they would die the first night he was forced to live in their home. That was not up for debate. Disgusting humans, treating a member of their family like that. By the time he snapped to, the adults in the ward were looking at him strangely. Peering at him like a particularly interesting zoo specimen. ¡°I¡¯m sorry, what did I miss? I¡¯m not particularly a fan of large groups of people staring at me¡¡± He spoke softly, trailing off towards the end. ¡°I¡¯m sorry young Harry, I can imagine that things have been a bit ¡ trying for you but we need to ask you a few questions.¡± Filius Flitwick said, silencing the murmuring crowd around Harry¡¯s bed. There were a few teachers who had his genuine respect and the Charm¡¯s professor was undoubtedly top of that list. ¡°First off professor, if I had my way, I would have been one of your Ravens. Unfortunately the Hat, moody git that he is, wouldn¡¯t have it.¡± Taking a deep breath, he said while raising his voice like he would talk to a professor in class ¡°Go ahead, professor, I will answer any question you have. I¡¯ve always tried to be honest with you.¡± As Harry shuffled back in his bed so he could sit against the head board, the aged professor conjured a set of steps so he would be more visible and more comfortable conversing with Harry. ¡°That means alot to me Harry, Lily always was my favourite student¡moving on to more immediate matters, could you please tell us all what happened this afternoon? From our perspective, we were to close the school¡¡± Looking off in thought, Harry noticed the Aurors were taking stock of the situation while one was signalled and set up a large roll of parchment and a floating quill. Interesting piece of magic, he guessed it was a ¡®dictaquill¡¯ that Hermione talked about before. ¡°Well, that¡¯s easy enough I suppose. I was walking back to the dorms in Gryffindor tower after a lonely walk around the lake, considering the alienation and bullying from this year I¡¯m sure you can understand.¡± Staring out into the distance, he walked himself through the entirety of his day since lunch. ¡°I overheard some professors, I think it was Sinistra and Babbling discussing the tragedy and how the school would have to close due to the inability of Albus and the professors to get to the bottom of the ''Mystery'' surrounding the Chamber.¡± ¡°Yes, quite, Mr. Potter. That was our initial worry. Though it seems you decided to do something about it?¡± ¡°Not really, I was going up to pack my things in preparation and stay hidden with my fathers cloak. I am persona non grata round here, and didn¡¯t wish to get into any conflict with any of my classmates, you know? I¡¯ve never liked conflict. I just find myself forced into it.¡± He ended bitterly. ¡°So I assume someone forced you into this situation?¡± ¡°You would be correct professor, Ron decided that in his infinite wisdom, since he couldn¡¯t find his sister, and that there was gossip that a girl was taken down to the chamber¡ He would have to do something about it. I.e. get the ¡®dark wizard slayer¡¯ Mr. Potter on the job.¡± Harry scoffed. ¡°I¡¯ve never wanted any part of any adventure. I¡¯ve been through pain and hurt, I don¡¯t need to go looking for more. Yet the fucking fool had the audacity to drag me out of my bed and the safety of the dorms to the next Dark Wizard battling numpty he could think of. In this case, Lockhart.¡± ¡°I see, so how did he force you?¡± ¡°Grabbed my wand from my bedside table and dragged me physically down to the DADA classroom looking for Fraudhart. I mean, I figured out in the first lecture the guy was a fraud yet this ginger, brainless goon decided it would be a good idea to create a dark magic defense ¡®dream¡¯ team out of me and him.¡± Shaking his head, he just laughed with disdain. ¡°So we end up getting to Lockhart, I have no wand and Ron is poking me in the back of the neck with it. Lockhart was looking to leave, he made some quick excuses and after disarming the fool. The only thing he taught us all year by the way, he ¡®encouraged¡¯ us to think of where or what was in the Chamber.¡± ¡°I had contemplated for a while now that the monster should have been a type of legendary snake, but since I wasn¡¯t talking to anyone but ¡®Mione¡¡± Harry shrugs at this point, his voice going hoarse. ¡°Could I have some water?¡± Madame Pomfrey wordlessly handed him a glass of water. After taking a few sips he continued on. ¡°So since I discovered I was a parselmouth, I figured out the ¡®voices¡¯ I was hearing was just a large snake travelling around the castle somehow. The question I needed to answer was¡ how?¡± ¡°So, I mentioned that to Ron and Lockhart during his cowardly rambling about various ¡®feats¡¯ he had done and mentioned something about hearing stuff he thought was ¡®through¡¯ a wall, which he later discovered was a secret room ¡®in¡¯ the wall.¡± ¡°That¡¯s where I had my ¡®AHA¡¯ moment. The famous ¡®Eureka!¡¯ of Archimedes.¡± Shrugging he turned to the aurors. ¡°That¡¯s when I thought of pipes, that an old castle must have plumbing right? So that was probably how the creature got around. Turned out I was more right than I thought.¡± ¡°I remembered how most of the incidents were on the second or third floor, and that also every time there was an incident one of the toilets on the second floor was always flooding. I distinctly remember Filch complaining about the mess the kids were making you see.¡± ¡°Ahh, smart boy Mr.Potter. Excellent deduction, it''s such a shame the professors and I never thought along such lines.¡± Flitwick chuckled, amazed at how Harry figured things out. At wand point no less! ¡°Well you weren¡¯t being threatened with death if you didn¡¯t figure it out, so I don¡¯t blame you.¡± Harry said, in a monotone. The gasps of the Weasley family were quiet but obvious. If it wasn¡¯t for the Aurors glaring at them, he would have been doing the same. ¡°So we went to the bathroom where Moaning Myrtle lives and I had another lightbulb moment. I asked myself why there is a ghost here? And when was it that she started haunting here? So we talked, she explained seeing some big eyes before she died behind some sinks in that bathroom when she unfortunately passed away fifty years ago.¡± ¡°That doesn¡¯t explain the large snake though.¡± ¡°Oh that¡¯s easy, me and Mione researched all mythical snakes after I was accused of being the Heir. Top of the list was a basilisk. Honestly, it could have only been a basilisk, since it was the only snake that could damage anyone through indirect contact. All other snakes are just scary venomous.¡± ¡°That Mr. Potter is incredibly smart. Great use of reasoning, why didn¡¯t you come to us sooner with this information?¡± Flitwick asked, gobsmacked at how obvious it all seemed. ¡°Well I was being given the cold-shoulder treatment by everyone. So why should I? Besides, I didn¡¯t have the answer as to why everyone was being petrified and not killed. It wasn¡¯t until I was down in that bathroom that I figured it out.¡± ¡°Everyone saw an ¡®indirect¡¯ image of the basilisk. Colin Creevey through his camera, Mrs. Norris through the reflection in the water, Justin through nearly headless Nick.¡± Face palms from some of the aurors, they started glaring at all the professors now. ¡°See this Professors? Being shown up by a fourteen year old boy, this is why you call in the professionals. The answer was in front of you from the very beginning.¡± The dramatic pause for the shame to sink in was marvelous, if Harry did say so himself. ¡°You should consider joining us when you leave school, young man. You have the lateral thinking to be a good Auror. Please keep us in mind.¡± This middle-aged woman was showing him the first gentle smile he had seen for over a year. It was like a beam of sunlight through rain clouds on his psyche. ¡°I¡¯m sorry, you have me at a disadvantage Mrs¡?¡± ¡°Amelia Bones, Head of the DMLE.¡± ¡°I appreciate the vote of confidence and the kindness in your smile ma¡¯am. This is the first time I¡¯ve been complimented by anyone in months¡¡± Turning to stare out the window, with tears welling up in his eyes. It wasn¡¯t that hard to channel the pain of the past year of his life. Inwardly though he was jumping for joy. He reckoned he could get an oscar for how they were responding to his story. Before he could continue on, they saw a flashes of spellfire, and heard a crack of stone as Minerva twitched in furious anger. Seeing that she was about to erupt even the Aurors were fearful. She had trained them from a young age, since they were students, to be scared of her wrath after all. ¡°You already knew, didn''t you Albus?¡± She whispered, ¡°How could you dare to play games with these children¡¯s lives.¡± ¡°It was for the Greater Good, I suppose, yes?¡± she stated. A crazy glint formed in her eye. As the great Dumbledore started to flinch in fear he reached for his wand, desperate to prevent his demise. ¡°Expelliarmus!¡± She all but screamed. Snatching the odd knobbled wand out of the air, her opponent ricocheted against the floor. ¡°Please restrain the fool before I KILL HIM!¡± she screamed. Her aura spiked, filling the room with a projection of her emotions, one of majesty and rage. ¡°Please professor¡ you¡¯re scaring me¡¡± Harry whispered. Chapter 2 - Story Starts Hospital Wing, Hogwarts - May 13, 1995 Visibly trying to restrain herself, McGonagal took several deep breaths while the Auror¡¯s did as she requested. It was clear that things were coming to light now that should have been investigated long ago. There were many things that needed to be done, and a vote of no-confidence from the head of houses would go a long way to dealing with the meddlesome old fool. Though this was not the time to deal with him, it was however the time to deal with Harry¡¯s most recent adventure and his future care. He had a long road of recovery ahead, and it was up to her and other friends of Lily¡¯s to help him walk it. ¡°My deepest, most sincere apologies, Harry. I know you have been through hell this afternoon. As a responsible educator I should not be adding to your burden, please forgive my outburst. I¡find I am unbelievably angry with how you have been treated over the past few years, never mind what we have discovered in your upbringing.¡± Harry nodded along, before freezing in fright. Playing the part of a deer caught in headlamps. For the first time he realised that he was half undressed. His scars on full display. ¡°Have no fear Harry, it isn¡¯t your fault¡ Ok? We can get to that later. If you would please continue explaining the rest of the afternoon?¡± Nodding with his head down, he asked timidly ¡°Now¡ where was I? Ahh, I just finished talking to Myrtle¡¡± He curled up into himself, bringing his knees to his chest. Ginny¡¯s gentle gasps of breaths in between bouts of tears were just a quiet sound in the background, filling the gaps in conversation. ¡°This is the part I am most angry about. So, there we were, in a girls toilet looking for the entrance to the chamber. It didn¡¯t take me long to find it, but in all honesty I didn¡¯t want to!¡± ¡°I had a wand to my neck, a useless professor and a boy with a semi broken wand to my back. There was simply no way I could battle Slytherins monster in that situation¡ Yet for once in his life, Ron found the clue. One of the taps didn¡¯t work and on the side of that tap was a small snake in a figure eight. The symbol for eternity, or Jormungandr depending on your personal mythical leanings.¡± With a resigned sigh, he paused for more water. ¡°This was when the smart ass forced me to speak parseltongue, it took me a few tries but it worked. There was a secret passageway that opened up and showed us a large pipe. Four metres tall in the wall. Scaredy cat that he is, he forced Lockhart down it with threats and when I refused?¡± He paled visibly. The thought of going down that dark hole again and what awaited at the end¡ ¡°Well he banished a broken bit of masonry into the back of my neck and upper back. Honestly, I¡¯m lucky to have survived that and the landing head first... So we all go down this long ass slide, and when we reach the bottom, Lockhart decides to jump on Ron and steal his broken wand and attempt to Obliviate us.¡± Everyone stared in shock at what he claimed had happened. ¡°Before he goes through with it he confesses to how much of a fraud he is, among other crimes he had committed this year¡¡± Harry turns to stare at Minerva, ¡°Even raping a few younger students, you should really look into that professor McGonagal.¡± More gasps, the revelations just never stopped with this boy. ¡°Fortunately for me, or I guess unfortunately. Ron¡¯s wand misfired, knocking the fool out and causing a cave in. The roofs were pretty low down there so¡ I never saw them again.¡± A quick glug of his drink, and a gasp of satisfaction before he continues on. ¡°So, anyway I¡¯m on my own, and I have no wand. Yet I¡¯m supposed to battle Slytherins monster?¡± He laughs, verging on hysteria. ¡°What a shitty bit of luck, ey? I¡¯m in a situation I had no business being in, and I don¡¯t even know if I have a wand anymore. Hah.¡± ¡°So, I soldier on looking for another way out, although the only place I found was the Chamber itself. Going in I knew I had no chance, and in my heart I was begging for help to arrive. I was just going in to look for other exits I swear¡¡± Shaking his head, of his fear he firmed his voice and continued. ¡°That¡¯s when Fawkes and the Hat showed up.¡± He laughed. ¡°That¡¯s all the help I got. A damn hat and Fawkes, against a seventy foot mythical snake. So, I go in and see Ginny unconscious, and that¡¯s where things got interesting.¡± ¡°Did you know¡ that Voldemort was a half-blood? Named Tom Marvolo Riddle. You should look into that. If you rearrange the letters it''s an anagram, for I Am Lord Voldemort. Anyway you see that diary over there?¡± Harry points at the remainder of his clothes, the sword of Gryffindor and a little black book. ¡°That was what was opening the chamber of secrets. It was a cursed artefact that drains the person''s soul, it said. Something about being a memory, but I called him out on his lie. He later confirmed he was a type of magic he called a Horcrux that needed more life force and magic to resurrect and kill Dumbledore or something, honestly the thing sounded deluded.¡± ¡°Take a breather for a sec Harry. Can you give me your memories of these events? We might need it to fight¡ V-voldemort.¡± Amelia asked. He never got the need to call him by his various epithets, but it made sense with the ¡®taboo¡¯ on his name guessed Harry. Shrugging, Harry answered, ¡°Sure, there¡¯s more to say about it but quite honestly I¡¯m exhausted and I guess we still need to go down there to get Fraudhart and Ron out. I flame travelled with Fawkes and Ginny out of there after all.¡± If you encounter this story on Amazon, note that it''s taken without permission from the author. Report it. ¡°Good thinking Harry, there won¡¯t be another way to get to them without being able to speak parseltongue right?¡± Harry shook his head. ¡°Continue please Harry, the ginger sod can wait a bit yet. He almost got you killed after all.¡± she smirked, trying to make him laugh a little. ¡°That¡¯s true¡ he used to be my friend. But I don¡¯t think friends are supposed to hold each other at wand point.¡± He said laughingly, on the edge of tears once more. ¡°My god, this has been one hell of a day.¡± ¡°HOW DARE YOU SAY THAT¡.¡± Mrs Molly Weasley tried to berate Harry before Arthur slapped her. ¡°This story will be verified, right Ma¡¯am Bones?¡± At her nod he continued ¡°If what Harry said is true, we owe him two life debts. Do not abuse our benefactor in our presence. The boy has been through enough.¡± ¡°Thank you Mr. Weasley. Thank you for your kindness.¡± He whispered, bowing his head in shame, his innocent introverted nature coming to the fore. ¡°You were a guest in our home, and if Ron did as you say, I can do nothing other than apologise for such dreadful behaviour. He will be punished, and if you wish never to speak to him again I can certainly enforce that. I just hope my other children have shown you what my family is supposed to be about.¡± ¡°I am horrified that my family''s honour was destroyed today and quite frankly I¡¯m wondering if I made a mistake with my choice of wife. I¡¯m becoming more and more disillusioned with her behaviour and what she has taught my youngest kids.¡± Taking a steadying breath Arthur was himself on the edge of tears. Even though he was on the edge of breaking down, he managed to get out ¡°Please continue Harry, this can wait.¡± Nodding to him in solidarity, Harry felt terrible. He may have just accidentally destroyed a family, it was heartbreaking because he loved the oldest four siblings, if you ignored Percy anyway. Soldiering on, he said ¡°Right, so evil soul spirit thing monologues for a while, I wear the sorting hat and I scan the room. Eventually he gives up the conversation and starts flinging spells. Dodging all around I hide behind the pillars. Eventually he says something in parseltongue and the Basilisk comes out.¡± He shivers at the very memory of the creature. ¡°Obviously I didn¡¯t look at its eyes, but it was big, heavy and fucking scary. I pissed myself at least once.¡± He said, without shame. ¡°So the fight was on, Fawkes attacked its eyes, I pulled the brim on the hat down and ran away blind as a bat. While I¡¯m doing this, spells are being flung at me and the Hat decides that I¡¯ve shown enough ¡®daring do¡¯ for him to approve of my willingness to defend innocents. A True Gryffindor.¡± Swearing under his breath, ¡°I am never given a choice. I just do what¡¯s necessary to survive.¡± Inhaling a deep breath he pauses for a while. The others present can see he needs some time to come to terms with things. Breathing out harshly, he gathers himself for the last push. ¡°So yeah, after he tells me I¡¯m a true gryffindor, I feel a bonk on my head. The bloody sword was in the Hat, so I take it off while Fawkes is distracting it, and the Shade of Riddle is screaming at it to go for me instead so I panic. Running around like a headless chicken I was.¡± Shuddering he says ¡°So that was when it got me, nicked my leg then tried to eat me whole. When it went for that last one, I just kinda thought ¡®Fuck¡¯ it. If I¡¯m going to die, I will take the bastard thing with me. So I stab it through the roof of its mouth, and get bitten on the arm.¡± He says pointing at the large gash in the various places, proving his story. ¡°Then Fawkes, thanks for that by the way bud, cries into my wounds to neutralise the poison. Let me tell ya, it fucking hurt.¡± ¡°LANGUAGE MR.POTTER.¡± McGonagal snaps on reflex. ¡°Sorry professor, but it was the worst I¡¯ve ever felt in my life, anyway it still wasn¡¯t over. The spirit person decides it''s time to kill me for good. So it casts stuff at me while I¡¯m sprinting for it with this basilisk fang I pulled out my arm. I notice that there¡¯s a link?¡± Harry nodded, ¡°Yeah, a link like a thin line that was linking the spirit person to the book. Which I later found out was the diary, so I stabbed it with the fang. Ink goes everywhere, and bam. I survive.¡± ¡°After lying on my back for a while trying to catch my breath, Ginny wakes up. We introduce ourselves, she cries a lot on me, she apologises, confesses to thinking she was the Heir. I told her she was possessed, and that we could sort everything out. Fawkes flies over to us, sings to us and makes us hold onto its tail. We grab everything and he Flash-fire travels us to the toilet where I see Prof McGee and Flitwick in the bathroom. Then I woke up here with you all barging in and arguing.¡± Shuddering, ¡°And please don¡¯t make me tell that story again. I just want my friend ¡®Mione back. I just want to rest and not hurt anymore. I¡¯m so tired of hurting¡¡± He mumbles. Ending the dictaquill, Amelia decides to call it there. ¡°Alright then Harry, three more things ok? Take us down to where the entrance is. Let¡¯s get the bodies, or the unconscious Ron and Fraudhart, out of there. After that, we need to check out the crime scene, so that might take a while. Did you claim the Right of Conquest Harry?¡± ¡°No, what¡¯s that?¡± ¡°You can do it with me tomorrow, I can show you the Hunters ritual to earn the power of your foe. You need the help kid, I¡¯m sorry to say.¡± Glaring at the rest of the professors, ¡°I will guide you in it myself.¡± ¡°Most rituals are heavily frowned upon, but as a long time familial ally of House Potter, I will stand in for your Hunter Guardian.¡± Sighing she says, ¡°There¡¯s a lot to the tradition, but I know you deserve it. I will pay to get some professional renderers from Gringotts and get you the best deal possible. Hopefully the money will help you with your financial situation. It¡¯s a unique specimen so you won¡¯t be poor, that¡¯s for sure.¡± Puffing her cheeks out she pats me on the shoulder, ¡°Dam kid, I¡¯m seriously impressed. Killing something that big with nothing but some luck, your wits and a damn sword.¡± Nabbing a glass of water herself, Harry can even see that her hands are shaking in disbelief or shock, he couldn¡¯t tell. ¡°The last thing I would like to ask of you is to give me those memories.¡± She clicks her fingers twice, ¡°Dawlish, Memory vials please. Two of them.¡± Guiding Harry through the memory retrieval process was a few short minutes. After which he took them down to the bathroom for the aurors to retrieve Ron and Lockhart. He didn¡¯t want the others to enter the Chamber, so he begged off asking to finish everything with the hunter ritual tomorrow. Just asking them to make sure the two idiots were alive. After which he returned to the hospital wing under Madam Pomfrey¡¯s orders, even if he was carried. He was a malnourished boy who had just gone into shock. They finally realised how magically exhausted he was and put him into a magically potioned sleep for the night. By god did he deserve it. Chapter 3 - Timeline Twists Hospital Wing, Hogwarts - May 14, 1995 While Harry slept, things¡went belly up. Messages were sent, meetings were set for the following day and even the press were informed. Hogwarts was ground zero for a heap of trouble. The truth behind much of the past decade was coming to light and it was not a pretty sight. Chief manipulator behind the scenes Dumbledore was going to be publicly crucified and there was no way out for him. It was his closest supporters that were doing it, so who was left to support him? After seeing his lack of empathy or respect for this one child that he was the true magical guardian of being treated so badly. How could they allow him to continue to hold the position of headmaster, a position that was responsible for over a thousand children? The authorities gave all the relevant information to the Aurors, as far as the Healer Pomfrey and Professor McGonagal could deduce from the evidence. Many of the questions would have to be put to Harry directly when he woke up tomorrow and that didn¡¯t even include the issues surrounding his guardianship and his personal health. There was just too much to cover in one sleepless night. Now that questions were being asked Minerva was sure there was plenty more to find out. The evidence of Alchemically enhanced loyalty potions in Pomfrey was alarming enough that now all members of staff had to be checked. A brief cursory examination of the schools finances showed that money had been diverted in multiple places, and that was just the tip of the iceberg. So the Heads of Houses gathered to discuss what they should prioritise. First up were the students, their ability to perform should not be undermined by Dumb-dumbs decisions. Secondly was the situation surrounding Harry. He was clearly abused and needed help, though their hands were tied legally until they could access the locked will of the Potter¡¯s. Quite frankly it was confusing how Harry held in the dark so far about his storied heritage, never mind the fact that he should be subject to ¡®Last of the Line¡¯ clauses that all Ancient old houses bind to their magics. They hoped there would be some provisions in there to at least allow him to leave his current place of residence. Although with the evidence provided from the medical test the teachers were sure that with Amelia Bones¡¯ help they could offer some ¡®off the books¡¯ assistance. Especially since it was clear that they allowed Dumbledore to abuse his authority as chief warlock for things to turn out the way he wanted them. Unfortunately, many students had been let down this year due to the circumstances, they were finding it inordinately hard to study for their OWLs and NEWTs as a result. With sub-standard teaching in DADA, it was clear that results would suffer as a result. Looking at the situation they would have to consider other options, perhaps a remedial exam? Every face was expressing some form of dissatisfaction with how things turned out. Even Snape was alarmed, even disgusted at his own behaviour towards his best friend''s son, estranged though he may have been towards the end. The inane yammering and mild panic amongst his colleagues during the early hours of the morning tested his patience to such a degree that he snapped. This was the first ever public break of his usually stoic facade, shocking his contemporaries. ¡°Enough!¡± He intoned, his voice harsh and unyielding. ¡°The larger matters will take too long to untangle now. Use your prodigious minds and focus on what we can affect immediately.¡± The silence following his statement was profound. They were equally ashamed and contemplative as the silence dragged on for a few painfully long minutes. Snape sighed, breaking the silence, ¡°I personally have much to¡ atone for.¡± Since each one of them came from a long line of prestigious magical families they understood what he hinted at. His long term life-debt held to James Potter was known to each of them, since they were teachers when he had the very arrogance scared out of him. ¡°I honestly fell for much of Albus¡¯ manipulations regarding young Mr. Potter.¡± Rubbing his eyes he spoke through the pain from a long day, ¡°The young man has handled himself well, even with all the adversity I have thrown his way¡ he is an admirable wizard. A young man of courage who has triumphed through disgusting levels of adversity he faced alone. ALONE!¡± He shouted, ¡°Since he was a babe I owed his father a life-debt and Dumbledore placated me and lied to me about his whereabouts and his life growing up.¡± Visibly restraining himself, his hands shook. ¡°I have no other recourse for my honour, I will swear a guardian oath for the boy. He has no one else. Lily was¡¡± Diminutive he may have been but Fillius had a big heart, hopping the desk to approach his colleague. Laying a hand on his shoulder, ¡°We understand Severus, you have shown your true colours with us. explained your frustrations at having to continue perpetrating the conflicts between houses. On the White Whiskered Wankers orders no less.¡± The cheerful professor was unusually solemn at this, even if he was using his regular witty humour. ¡°I want you to know that I support what Minerva wishes to do from here, only with a united front can we change things for the better. We all are aligned in this I think.¡± Looking at each of them, he showed his sincerity in his gaze. ¡°I know not which of us may become Deputy, but it is clear that the children need a great deal more support than they have received. Young Harry, in particular.¡± Stepping back he nodded to Severus firmly. ¡°Let¡¯s return to what we can do immediately shall we?¡± ¡°Quite right Fillius, Severus. I think you¡¯ve both cut to the heart of the matter. Perhaps you should focus on Harry then, Severus?¡± Pomona Sprout said, moving them back to a more professional mindset. ¡°I fear that he won¡¯t trust me Pom. I have treated him so badly, little did I know that he was struggling with abuse and I pushed so close to that line, remembering how he flinched when I called him boy¡how can I make it up to him?¡± Snape said, his head hanging in his hands. Reading on this site? This novel is published elsewhere. Support the author by seeking out the original. ¡°Harry did mention that Fillius was his favourite professor, especially with your fond reminiscing of his mother¡ Perhaps you can assist Severus, Fillius? He could use your assistance.¡± Pomona said quietly, ¡°After all, if the young man could choose, I¡¯m sure you would be his choice of guardian Fillius. However I believe I can speak for Severus when I say that we give you our vote for Deputy. You are hands down the most beloved professor across the houses.¡± Minnie had tears in her eyes as she said, ¡°If it wasn¡¯t for Dumbledore you would have already been the Deputy Fillius. I¡¯ve always said I believe I was not the first choice for this role by the school board. If it wasn¡¯t for the bigotry, I¡¯m sure you would be sitting here now.¡± ¡°But what about the duties of the Deputy Minnie? I can¡¯t reach out to Muggleborns or blend in as efficiently¡¡± Fillius said, shaking his head softly. ¡°I would rather look after my Ravens. They are my legacy.¡± ¡°If I helped you with that Fillius would you do it? You deserve it. Really.¡± ¡°Then how can I help Severus with Harry? Raising a young man isn¡¯t easy. It requires a lot of time, with both our current roles it may be doable but would require a great deal of planning and communication.¡± Minnie chimed in, ¡°In all honesty I want to be involved with him also, Fillius, but who else can we trust to be the Headmistress? We can¡¯t have an outside hire, we have a great deal of issues to deal with and changes to make to the way we teach the students if we wish to bring Hogwarts teaching standards up once more.¡± ¡°Perhaps Pomona could take the role if you feel uncomfortable with the duties? She has cared for everyone across all houses, has everyone¡¯s respect and is considered a pure blood with numerous political connections.¡± Severus suggested. ¡°This way, we all get what we deserve, we all know that it may be a bit soon for you Pomona, but you were always slated to be picked for Deputy.¡± Humming to herself, ¡°Politically I¡¯m the least likely to be objected to it¡¯s true, but who would take my place as head of house and to teach herbology? Hmm, I think I can do it with your blessing, but we need to put feelers out for someone to replace me.¡± Shaking her head, ¡°In fact, we should have a plan in place so the School Board doesn¡¯t go over our heads. To be frank this is exactly the type of opening they need¡¡± ¡°Enough on that, I believe we should grab some rest. Fillius, are you willing to help me with Harry? I wish to move ahead as soon as possible. I will need to look into every avenue of his upbringing and legal paperwork. I just need your help for him to trust me. Perhaps you coming with us to Gringotts would be a good show of trust from you to me?¡± ¡°Sounds perfect, we can have an early breakfast and be there when he wakes. I¡¯m sure that we will also need to deal with scheduling interviews for the DMLE. Perhaps we can do that and see the WCS at the same time?¡± Fillius responded. Standing up, Snape prepared to sleep. ¡°We should focus on what¡¯s in front of us and deal with them one at a time. There is no need for us to go overboard and lose sight of what matters. The children¡¯s safety. Please, I implore you all to keep that at the forefront of our minds.¡± Hanging his head, ¡°I always hated that I was forced to march to Albus¡¯ tune. He created the worst kind of image for me¡¡± ¡°Good night everyone¡¡± a defeated man left to wallow in the depth of his mistakes, alone. xOxOx The night was long for Harry, the repeated waking from his terror infused sleep as he re-lived much of the ¡®real¡¯ Harry¡¯s memories. In a single evening he re-lived every piece of torment for his short life. Every broken bone, every instance of verbal abuse¡ It was a long, long night. By the time dawn swung around he was beyond fatigued. In fact, after lying there for what felt like hours, reviewing his memories he decided then and there to forget his ¡®old¡¯ life. He was given a second chance to learn magic for fuck sake! Who wouldn¡¯t jump at such an opportunity? With a renewed outlook on his situation he decided he would grab the bull by the horns and live this life to the fullest. He still had a small bit of acting to go yet¡He still had a good month left of the school year to go yet. Just depended on whether he needed to sit his end of year exams. In the remaining quiet of the morning, he planned and schemed. Game planned what he needed to do for his future. Noting the differences between this world and the ¡®canon¡¯ world he knew of. Making a mental list of priorities was easy enough, just time consuming. So far this is what he came up with:
  1. Claim Conqueror Rite over the basilisk.
  2. Amelia said she would help with hiring a team of renderers.
  3. Talk to Amelia about the hunter ritual.
  4. Getting away from the Dursleys.
  5. Get physically fit and fix my body¡¯s malnutrition and health issues.
  6. Study over summer and prepare for Arithmancy and Runes. Aim to take the OWLs early in at least Charms, Defense and Runes.
Now that that¡¯s sorted out, Harry wanted to get on with the day. Finally opening his eyes he checked around him, no one was visible quite yet. He was thankful no one had touched his Sword or even the Diary. It would be good if he could get Dobby his freedom, he always did love the people with the quirkiest characters, though it was a strange realisation that he could barely remember his name from his original life anymore. Not that he was pining for it or anything, it was just odd that much of his ¡®original¡¯ personality was merging, for lack of a better word, with Harry¡¯s. Checking an old mechanical clock hanging above Madame Pomfrey¡¯s desk, he could see that it was still early, 7:17 AM. Thankfully she was also writing up some reports on her desk. Taking a breath, Harry made his way over to the formidable woman. As they say, ¡®It¡¯s best to strike while the iron is hot.¡¯ As he walked towards her, she surprised him by calling out, ¡°Ahh, Mr. Potter you¡¯re up bright and early I see. How are you getting along?¡± Turning to him with a smile. ¡°Impatient too, should have strapped you to that bed so you could sleep more!¡± Harry was a little gobsmacked, he could never remember Madam Pomfrey talking like this. So playful and joyful, although he had to give her a little credit. It certainly put his mind at ease. ¡°Err, I¡¯m doing OK thanks. I¡¯m just a little exhausted¡and ashamed I guess.¡± Harry said, taking a seat in front of her desk. ¡°Nothing to be ashamed about Harry, you aren¡¯t responsible for how others react to you.¡± She nods reassuringly at him, ¡°Also you weren¡¯t aware how seriously we take situations like your own. In fact¡¡± She lets out a big sigh, ¡°There¡¯s really no easy way to say this, so I¡¯ll be blunt. If the people who did that to you were in front of me right now, they would no longer be alive.¡± A fire sparked in her light blue eyes, pinning Harry to his chair. ¡°In fact, if the WCS doesn''t allow us to help, I may force the issue myself.¡± She declared. Chapter 4 - Remedies & Recovery Hospital Wing, Hogwarts - May 14, 1995 I don¡¯t believe she just said that. ¡°Now, you¡¯re newly inducted into our world Mr.Potter so I don¡¯t expect you to understand.¡± looking thoughtfully into space she seemed to reach a decision. ¡°There¡¯s a very serious reason why we are so strict with people who abuse children. The few serious cases of child abuse can go very, VERY wrong. Very fast.¡± ¡°Now, I don¡¯t say this to scare you, but I want you to understand just how much all the staff here are horrified at what you¡¯ve had to go through. Not to mention the amount of sheer admiration we have for you.¡± ¡°So, there¡¯s a very rare outcome in cases like yours, where you ¡®bottle¡¯ your magic. For lack of a better way to say it, where you¡¯re subconscious and ego combine with your magic and form what the Medi-wizards at the time called an Obscurial. Ever since the incident in New York with Newt Scamander¡¡± ¡°Well, the less said about that the better. Long story short, you essentially become an out of control magical being. Closer to a skittish beast than human being, the result of which is the young child loses themselves to their own magic, and eventually dies before they can ever recover.¡± Taking a sip of her cooling tea, ¡°So I hope you can understand the sheer relief that everyone felt, that you were still with us, healthy. Even if you¡¯re not as healthy as we might wish. You¡¯re not lost to us, and we can slowly help you recover from all your problems. Alright?¡± Nodding quietly, Harry was solemnly taking in this bombshell she dropped on him. ¡°Well, that''s a little heavy for breakfast don¡¯t you think Madam Pomfrey?¡± He chuckled nervously, unsure at how to respond. ¡°Right, well¡ All the Professors, including myself, were appalled at what we found out, Harry. We all had a meeting about it early this morning.¡± Raising her hand to pause his sputtering attempt at speech, ¡°It¡¯s nothing bad I assure you, but it was simply in essence¡A call to action. I¡¯m sure that the problem will be addressed today and steps will be taken to make sure you never encounter or run into your abusers, EVER, again.¡± The intensity of her stare struck him dumb. Harry could never remember any adult ever being so protective of him, ever. ¡°Now, would you like some tea? I¡¯ve got a long list of things to go over with you. If you¡¯re not comfortable with answering exactly how you¡¯ve got your injuries that¡¯s OK. We can just talk about how to fix it, is that what you would prefer?¡± Harry nodded his head, relieved. Although he re-lived his tragic youth it wasn¡¯t exactly something that you would want to talk about. ¡°OK, so a great deal of your problems can be fixed through proper nutrition, and you will have to spend a solid two days unconscious so that I can fix some of your more badly broken bones. I¡¯m sorry to say there are a few that we need to work on.¡± ¡°As long as I¡¯m going to be awake when ¡®Mione wakes up please?¡± Harry says quietly. ¡°I missed her. She¡¯s my only friend. She likes me for me, Harry. None of that celebrity rubbish...¡± His voice trailed off, ¡°It was nice, not being alone.¡± Madame Pomfrey was very still, from this brief conversation she had gleaned a lot about young Harry. It was such a shame seeing such a handsome boy, who should by all rights be wildly overconfident, so shy and timid. ¡°I will make sure that if we are to awaken Ms. Granger, that you are available Harry. I promise.¡± Reaching over the desk she held my hand, forcing him to look her in her eye. ¡°Now, there are a few things I do need to ask you about. The medium size slash on your leg, and circular scar on your bicep is from the Basilisk, correct?¡± She asked while looking through her notes. ¡°That¡¯s right, is something wrong? Has it not healed correctly?¡± ¡°Nothing¡¯s wrong per se, something interesting is going on. The Phoenix tears and Venom are ¡®battling¡¯ for lack of a better phrase¡¡±A few diagnostic spell casts later, even proved her conclusion ¡°Hmm, even just over night you have got a slight bump in mana levels due to the constant battle. There is also a high likelihood that you will be immune to mid-strength poisons as well, though I wouldn¡¯t test that.¡± Sitting back, making a note on her files she asked ¡°Apart from that, have you had any immunity shots? For Dragon Pox and other wizarding and muggle illnesses?¡± ¡°Not that I can remember, No.¡± ¡°Hmm, not surprising with how ol¡¯ Dumb-ass-a-door has been treating you eh? Right, and the final thing¡¡± She looked up at him, serious for a moment. ¡°Has anyone ever properly looked at your scar? I don¡¯t mean to scare you but it is emitting some seriously high levels of dark magic.¡± Shocked at the proclamation, ¡°Still? After all this time? Is it more than a scare then?¡± ¡°Impossible to say for me to say Mr. Potter, I would have to recommend getting a full check up at St. Mungo¡¯s. Keep it in mind for now, we will do what we can first so whatever we have to do to fix that scar later won¡¯t be as harmful to you, OK? The healthier you are the better you can fight off illness, yeah?¡± She rubbed his shoulder in a soothing way, trying to comfort the young man. ¡°I¡¯m sorry I haven¡¯t got more concrete answers for you.¡± Nodding Harry agreed, ¡°Makes sense, so I had a couple of questions, especially after yesterday. What do I have to do next?¡± Laughing, Madame Pomfrey said, ¡°Well first up will be breakfast, I will get you a nice full English with some tom¡¯s and mushrooms, a side of fruit and fruit juice for breakfast. I don¡¯t want to hear any complaints, OK? We need to load you with calories, with the potion¡¯s regimen I want to start you on later today is going to take a LOT of work.¡± Chuckling along he responded with, ¡°Well that¡¯s alright Pompom! You¡¯ll be my cheerleader, ey?¡± ¡°Ahr you cheeky sod, you remind me of your Grandaddy Charlus and your parents when you act like that!¡± ¡°You knew them?¡± He gasped, surprised at the revelation. ¡°Of course! Me and your Grandma were close, you know!¡± Shaking her head with a wry smile, ¡°I can share some stories with you another time. Now, after breakfast I¡¯m sure Ma¡¯am Bones will be back for the crime scene, which she will need your help to access if you remember. She may even prepare that Hunter ritual for you, though I will be going with you so you have nothing to worry about.¡± ¡°The odds of something going wrong are remarkably low. I¡¯m going to be there just in case, ok?¡± A hint of concern did peek through, but she was sure that Amelia knew enough to make sure that it would be safe for him. With a firm nod, ¡°Perfect! Now, is there anything I can do to help my healing? Do I have to practice magic? Or exercise?¡± Madame Pomfrey smiled wide, ¡°Well aren¡¯t you an earnest chap, hmm? Best Potter to be my patient yet! Yes, we will get to that, but that will start after I get a specialist on malnutrition and recovery to come see you. Which we will address after we fix your bones, ok?¡± Unauthorized reproduction: this story has been taken without approval. Report sightings. ¡°Quite frankly, there¡¯s a lot to do, and fixing it is going to take some work. I just didn¡¯t want to overload you with information, there¡¯s going to be a lot of changes with you over the next couple of days.¡± Tapping her lip with her pen she thinks for a moment ¡°Hmm, actually you¡¯re probably going to have quite a shock when your potential guardian arrives. Though I want to make it clear, everything happens only with your agreement. OK Harry? You can always say no.¡± Tilting his head to the side he was a little confused at that last statement, ¡°I mean, sure¡I guess. I trust you guys to do what¡¯s best for me. As long as I¡¯m safe and I can have my friend hang out¡I can be happy, I don¡¯t need much ok? Anyone can look after me as long as they aren¡¯t mean¡¡± ¡°I promise you Harry, they will have your best interests at heart OK? Though that meeting may be late this afternoon or tomorrow. We will have to see how busy the Aurors make you today, alright?¡± She stood up, shooing him back to his bed ¡°Now give me a second and I will have breakfast and a change of clothes for you to change into, you can eat with me and the Auror guard out here if you want yeah?¡± ¡°I would love that Ma¡¯am!¡± ¡°When I¡¯m not working you can call me Poppy, or Auntie, OK Harry?¡± ¡°I would love that, Poppy¡Auntie.¡± Harry said, blushing while he ran away to change. xOxOx Breakfast was a hoot, for the first time in two months he didn¡¯t feel alone. Even the Auror was a fun chap to be around. Harry had the initial idea that they would be all stuck-up prigs, but he was happy to be proven wrong. For the first time in a long time, he felt that he could smile. Towards the end of the meal a small group of guests arrived. Specifically, Madame Bones her auror contingent and a pair of goblins carrying some rolls of equipment. One looked quite old while the other, he assumed since he wasn¡¯t an expert on goblins, looked considerably younger. At this point Harry got a little nervous, all he knew about Goblins were that they were incredibly bloodthirsty and quick on their feet. Harry was quickly pulled out of his reverie by the conversation that started up around him. ¡°Good morning Poppy, I trust Harry is well enough to take a small trip with us?¡± ¡°Yes, of course, don¡¯t doubt my work. We will be starting him on his treatment tonight. So he has time to accompany you for the next few days while we ease him into his potion regimen.¡± ¡°Excellent! Sorry to ignore you for a moment there Harry, I just wanted to make sure you were OK. I know how headstrong heroes can be sometimes, always saying something asinine like, I¡¯m fine.¡± She smirked, teasing the boy. ¡°Well I¡¯m glad you didn¡¯t assume, Ma¡¯am Bones, after all I wouldn¡¯t want you to make an ass out of you and me¡± He said, throwing a cheeky wink out there at the end. ¡°Well I never!¡± She exclaimed with a large smile, ¡°You¡¯re shaping up to be quite the charmer, ey? Though while you¡¯re still eating, why don¡¯t we take some time to answer a few questions, if you have any?¡± Setting his cutlery aside, he thought for a moment. ¡°Right, well I have a few questions. First, is Ron still in the castle?¡± A quick glance at Madam Pomfrey and her aurors, had her frowning in thought. ¡°Well, yes. He¡¯s a minor, even if he will be punished for what he did he didn¡¯t do anything that I can charge him for¡¡± ¡°Oh¡I see.¡± Amelia looked positively horrified at the reaction Harry was putting out. She didn¡¯t want to lose his trust over this. ¡°There isn¡¯t much I can do until there is a full investigation and that will certainly take some time. Though due to Arthur¡¯s, that is Mr. Weasleys good standing in the ministry, he will be allowed a little leeway. I will probably allow the boy to be punished by his head of house. Would that be satisfactory?¡± ¡°I mean, it¡¯s better. I just don¡¯t want to have to fear for my life every time I¡¯m in school. This is the only place I¡¯ve been even mildly safe, if you can call death defying adventures safe that is.¡± Frowning heavily now, Amelia makes a quick decision, ¡°I will keep that in mind Harry, I¡¯m sorry that you feel that way. I will take a personal stake in this situation, OK? If he is allowed back here, I believe we will come to some form of arrangement to either have you resorted, or him resorted, so that you don¡¯t have to stay in the same room as him. Perhaps even forcibly hold him back a year.¡± ¡°If that isn¡¯t enough, after some discussions with the staff we can search for other alternatives. Though whatever I say now you¡¯re going to have to take it with a little salt Harry. I will have to discuss options with the staff in what ways we can protect you. Your safety is our number one priority in all this Harry, what¡¯s happened to you should not have happened. At all. And I just want you to be aware that we are doing everything we can to do right by you.¡± His food lay there forgotten as he thought over what she said. She was right, it was unfair. Everything that had happened to him was a huge clusterfuck. Yet Ron shouldn¡¯t be overly punished just because he was acting out of fear for his sister. ¡°Ok, I can accept that, I don¡¯t want to ever have to interact with the foolish git again though. He was the first person I chose for myself, and he betrayed me. I will never forgive that.¡± Harry missed the dark looks that passed between the adults present as he dug back into his meal. ¡°That¡¯s fair enough Harry, though during the week there will be plenty of meetings to try and remedy this situation somewhat, alright?¡± Giving everyone a thumbs up, he continued scoffing down the last of his meal. The more he ate now, the better prepared he would be for this ¡®intensive¡¯ potions regimen he would start on. Though imagining the extreme growth he would be going through soon was not going to be fun. Growing pains for 3-5 years condensed in time was going to hurt, a LOT! ¡°Ahh, that hit the spot.¡± Harry said, pushing his cutlery together. ¡°Right, I only had a few questions about this ¡®Hunter¡¯ ritual. First, what is it? Second, what do I have to do? Third, why do you think I should do it? And lastly, are there going to be any side effects?¡± Coughing on a mouthful of tea, Amelia chuckled quietly after cleaning herself up. Even the auror¡¯s were laughing at their normally serious boss. ¡°I knew your mother you know? She was three years my junior here in Hogwarts, and she was always full of questions just like you. I never understood why she wasn¡¯t in Ravenclaw. I mean honestly, how are you not in Ravenclaw?¡± ¡°I asked not to be, the hat wanted me in Ravenclaw or Slytherin. But I wanted to be in Gryffindor with my friends Ron and ¡®Mione. They both said it was the best house cos Dumbledore was in it, though now we know better¡¡± He trailed off, losing himself in another train of thought. ¡°Well to answer your questions, it¡¯s a ritual that dates back to our Druidic heritage. Beyond even that if the celtic histories are to be believed. The Hunter ritual was used as a right of passage for young hunters, but especially so for young wizards. They would normally perform this ritual on significant occasions, astronomical alignments, or on the solstices.¡± Taking another sip of tea she gathered her thoughts, ¡°Moving on from the history, you¡¯ve done most of the ritual already. You¡¯ve hunted and killed a life threatening creature and overcome the challenge in single combat. The final step is to claim the Conqueror''s rights, and feast upon its heart. I will also take part of the ritual to beseech magic on your behalf to grant you a boon commensurate with the difficulty of the undertaking.¡± ¡°That moves nicely onto why I think you should do it.¡± Pausing a moment, she looked him dead in the eye. ¡°I won¡¯t lie to you Harry, so I¡¯m just going to say it¡ You¡¯ve had a rough start to life Harry. I¡¯ve seen many cases like yours, and some kids never make it out the other side. The ones that do, the majority of them go down bad roads and meet an early or tragic end. Yet¡the ones that come out the otherside good and whole? They all did the same thing, they empowered themselves for the right reasons and in the right way. They became competent people that were able to overcome life¡¯s challenges secure in the belief that they empowered themselves to do so.¡± ¡°As to potential side effects? It¡¯s a request to magic, if anything the ritual does nothing more than balance the scales of karma. You were forced into a situation that was beyond your control, or even your ability to handle. Magic may choose to reward you for such a feat.¡± ¡°Karma huh?¡± Harry chuckled lightly, ¡°I didn¡¯t know that wizards believed in it.¡± ¡°Most don¡¯t, but as an Auror¡I found that I needed something to believe in. Righting wrongs, protecting the innocent¡ There are many things people choose to believe in. I chose karma, I particularly enjoyed the idea that you reap what you sow. A man once explained it to me as this, ¡°You sow good karma, and good karma returns. You sow bad karma, and bad karma returns. You just have to remember, you may be the good karma coming to someone, or in your case, you may be the bad karma ending someone.¡± Amelia stared into the distance absently stirring the dregs of her tea. Sighing she prepared herself for the day ahead. ¡°That¡¯s a story for another time though. So then, Harry, ready to show me a crime scene?" "Don¡¯t forget your sword.¡± She smirked. Chapter 5 - Galleons Galore Chamber of Secrets, Hogwarts - May 14, 1995 The walk to the entrance of the chamber was short but nerve wracking. Harry couldn¡¯t help but have small flashes of what happened deep beneath the earth, sparking a few moments of terror. If his present company noticed, they said nothing out of deep respect for the young man. He did slay his fear after all. ¡°How rude of me!¡± Exclaimed Amelia, ¡°I have yet to introduce our contracted friends here. Harry Potter, I would like to introduce to you Master renderer Ironfist and his apprentice Steelclaw.¡± ¡°May gold flow to your vaults, and your enemies lay broken before you Heir Potter.¡± Ironfist said, tilting his head to mimic a formal bow. ¡°Errm, thank you. May your vaults be filled with golden rivers of galleons and your enemies a shattered corpse before your blades Master Ironfist.¡± Harry responded, unsure if he got that right. ¡°I hope I got that right? I don¡¯t mean to offend, it¡¯s my first real introduction with a goblin good sir. I hope you won¡¯t think less of me.¡± Guttural laughs and words like grinding stone were exchanged between the two goblins. ¡°Not at all Master Potter, it was an excellent first attempt. If you would wish to learn more about our culture, feel free to mention it to your Accounts manager. We rarely endorse a human to learn our culture and customs, but if what we are to render here today is a truthfully told story?¡± He hurried ahead of Harry, pausing in the corridor ahead to bow a full ninety degrees, his back parallel to the floor. ¡°You will be named a warrior respected by our elders, and for sharing this bounty with us? We will both benefit and fill our vaults with gold.¡± Smiling at the smaller creature, he smiled lightly while clasping his hand over his heart. ¡°I assure you Master goblin. I am not one for fanciful tales, I find the truth is far more revealing of one¡¯s character.¡± Looking around he took note of the open mouths of the other human adults. The goblins were notorious for showing a great deal of disrespect for wizards and other creatures. The fact that in one small conversation these beings talked to an adolescent like an equal was, to them at least, confounding. ¡°Now if you would follow me gentlemen, Ma¡¯am?¡± Harry said, sweeping his arm with a flourish, directing them up to the second floor, east wing. A short walk later, they arrived. ¡°Here we are, you can tell by all the water. Moaning Myrtle must have been in and out of her toilet a great deal due to the amount of foot traffic.¡± Leading the way inside, he checked her usual stall. Finding it empty, he smiled. The ghost creeped him out, not because she was a ghost mind you, but because the girl always acted her age. That of a hormonal teenage girl, constantly flirting with him whenever they encountered one another. Careful not to slip, he walked slowly over to the sinks. Focusing on the symbol his eyes briefly glowed, an inner fire brightening his striking emerald green eyes. ¡°Open,¡± he hissed. Thankfully speaking in parseltongue on his first attempt. Looking into the deep darkness of the pipe he mused aloud, ¡°I wonder¡ There¡¯s no way Salazar Slytherin would slide down these pipes each time right? Perhaps¡¡± Looking up while lost in thought, he hissed a collection of single words. Hoping to cause a stairway or something similar to appear. It took a few tries but he eventually struck gold, with a sibilant hiss of ¡°Stairs¡±. ¡°Eureka!¡± Harry grinned, ¡°This should make it far less messy. Follow me chaps!¡± With a short incantation Lumos, he led the way walking deep into the dark earth. ¡°Yuck. Still slimy.¡± Harry remarked, ¡°The journey¡¯s taking a lot longer than last time.¡± ¡°Well at least we¡¯re not taking the express route, Harry.¡± Amelia replied. ¡°My auror¡¯s tell me it was a riveting ride.¡± She smirked, thinking back to the previous evening when her Auror¡¯s appeared covered in slime and muck. Amelia had to berate them for not thinking like wizards of course, but that was part of the fun of being a boss. Passing an older shed skin of the Basilisk was pretty intimidating. Thankfully Amelia was aware of it so she could brace herself. The goblins however were over the moon, seeing it as proof of the feat that young Mr. Potter had alluded to. ¡°You claim this by right of conquest also Heir Potter?¡± Looking for some guidance he glanced over at Amelia, ¡°You have the strongest claim, considering you slayed the beast that shed it. You should benefit from any products from it.¡± Nodding his head in agreement, he then confirmed it. ¡°Of course, anything that is a product of this adventure of mine into the chamber including all remnants of the beast and any knowledge contained in the chamber is mine to keep. I didn¡¯t see anyone else down here helping me out after all.¡± It took them a little less than an hour to get to the location of the rockfall. After which it took but a few short minutes to clear the danger and reinforce the ceiling in that area. ¡°You were lucky to avoid being trapped here, Harry. It¡¯s a pretty big fall.¡± ¡°Seeker reflexes are to be thanked I guess, even though I don¡¯t really like Quidditch.¡± Harry replied before seeing her gobsmacked expression. ¡°Careful,¡± he chuckled, ¡°You wouldn¡¯t want to catch any flies with an expression like that.¡± ¡°But you¡¯re the youngest seeker in a century!¡± She exclaimed. Harry just shook his head, his expression morose. ¡°Honestly I was just railroaded into it. I went along with it because clubs are a good way to make friends. Anyway, I think we¡¯re here. Should be just around this corner¡¡± Raising his wand he pulsed some extra magic into his foci. Looking up the group could see marvelously created statues, framing a door carved into the rock of the cave itself. ¡°Are these statues gold?¡± Amelia asked. ¡°Hmm, looks like goblin crafted bronze to me. Excellent metal for long term transfiguration.¡± Master Ironfits said, contemplating the surroundings. Amelia kept quiet, just admiring the craftsmanship. ¡°It¡¯s great work, I¡¯m just not a fan of the snake motif.¡± She remarked quietly. ¡°If you think this is bad, just wait til you see the chamber. It¡¯s an eye-sore.¡± Harry laughingly said. Hissing a quick Open once more, he led the way into the chamber. The portal into the Chamber of Secrets was eye catching to say the least. Even if Harry wasn¡¯t a fan of his nightmarish recollections of this door, it was definitely a worthy piece of magic. With a dramatic pronouncement, Harry put on his game show voice ¡°I give you, Salazar¡¯s Chamber of Secrets.¡± Everyone in the group gaped and gasped as the everburning torches within the wall sconces lit up. Revealing a pillared hall that guided the viewer''s eye to a rather hideous, yet gigantic, statue of Salazar himself. As the group finally began to ignore the melodramatic decoration, they noticed Harry and his adverse reaction to the seventy foot scaled corpse lying to one side of the chamber. Next to a collapsed pillar. Amelia put her hand on his shoulder in solidarity, ¡°That¡¯s a worthy hunt Potter, gotta say I would have soiled myself. Good job. You saved many people, many of them would have been my Aurors.¡± This heartfelt declaration snapped young Harry back to his senses. Amelia put her arm round his shoulder, ¡°Master goblins, if you would be so kind as to render the Basilisk down as discussed¡¡± ¡°Of course Madame Bones, would it be acceptable to discuss terms directly with Mr. Potter?¡± ¡°As long as the set up for the Ritual of the Hunt is given as a free service, I don¡¯t see why not.¡± She said, a sharp glint in her eye. ¡°That wouldn¡¯t be an imposition, after all how many people can say they get to work on a beastie this old.¡± The elderly goblin chuckled, his voice still hoarse as if he was chewing rocks. ¡°Mr. Potter, what would you like set aside for your personal use. The part¡¯s that you would perhaps see as unnegotiable?¡± Amelia asked, curious to see how his mind would tackle this problem. Unauthorized content usage: if you discover this narrative on Amazon, report the violation. After half a minute of thought he responded, ¡°I require the heart, for the ritual if I¡¯m not mistaken Amelia?¡± At her nod he continued, ¡°At least enough materials for three basilisk hide outfits. With three sets that I could grow into¡ Perhaps a more rigorous reinforced armour, a suit, and a military style overcoat in a chelsea coat style kinda like a protective leather duster? Oh and don¡¯t forget the boots.¡± Rubbing his eyes, ¡°Make that enough hide set aside for three sets of armour for three other people. Amelia, would you like some? As thanks for your assistance as an ally of House Potter?¡± Amelia was stunned, this was beyond generous. Harry continued, ¡°I am also wondering if my magic has¡shifted, for lack of a better explanation. Is there perhaps a viable use of some part for wand creation or adjustment? I would imagine that this was a significant milestone in my life, considering I¡¯m about to undergo the Hunter¡¯s Ritual, I imagine my magic will shift even more¡¡± This stunned everyone present to silence, Master Ironfist was chortling along quite happily to his requests. ¡°Smart, Heir Potter, smart. I can set aside most of that for you off the bat, the only contentious part would be the wand material. Optic nerves and muscles of such would normally be a hearty request for our nation. However we can see that your story was true in regards to their damage.¡± He paused, choosing his words carefully, ¡°I can agree to your request, though the Goblin Nation would like to request preference to the basilisk meat and if you would be persuaded, the intact skeleton.¡± Humming in thought, Amelia questioned the Master Goblin quietly, ¡°Is that appropriate serr? The skeleton is his trophy of his deed, isn¡¯t it inappropriate to request such?¡± ¡°There¡¯s no wrong in asking Amelia.¡± Harry said quietly, ¡°Master goblin, is there any use for Basilisk marrow that I am unaware of?¡± ¡°Savvy question young Heir, it can be used in higher tiered antidotes, blood and magic replenishing potions. Though the other components for such a complex potion are exhaustingly expensive.¡± ¡°Could we perhaps come to a compromise then? Perhaps we extract the marrow, split it 50/50. I allow the goblin nation to retain all the bones but the skull, however¡¡± Harry said, pointing his finger to the sky, ¡°I will allow you to make a copy of the skull to complete the set so to say.¡± A shark-like grin enveloped the Goblins'' visage. ¡°A reasonable proposition Mr. Potter. However, all potions crafted must be through services provided from Gringotts, I will make your account manager aware of it. Is that acceptable?¡± ¡°I agree in principle, but if I wish to use the materials from this creature in research I hope you won¡¯t expect me to allow that?¡± Harry said, smiling evilly with a crooked eyebrow. The goblin broke out into joyous laughter, clearly enamoured with the Potter scion. ¡°Excellently done Heir Potter! Now the remaining valuable items would be the nerves, tendons and finally the poison. How would you propose we split such?¡± ¡°I assume you use the tendons in the crafting of the armour? It should allow the magic to flow more freely if the materials used are all from the same creature, correct?¡± ¡°Indeed Mr. Potter, well reasoned. We also add the nerve¡¯s in our alchemical solutions to ¡®gild¡¯ the runic enhancements.¡± ¡°Well then, it would only be fair that we set aside those materials for the deluxe sets of armour and boots, yes? Those that we are going to heavily enchant. So to make it fair, I would suggest one full set of equipment for Amelia, myself and enough for me to give three deluxe sets of armour to family and friends.¡± Walking towards the beast Harry voiced his question, ¡°How many such sets do you think we will be able to get material for from this monster?¡± ¡°Perhaps twenty to thirty sets all told. Honestly, it could be more.¡± ¡°Well then, I would offer the goblins three tenths of the remainder. Allowing me to keep seven tenths of those not already requested. And how much spare hide would there be after that?¡± ¡°A great deal to be honest, there¡¯s still that full shed in the previous chamber¡enough for a great deal of weaker enchanted gear, although I would recommend that you sell half of the skin for galleons, crafters would go mad over it. We would also request one tenth of the organ meat.¡± ¡°How much would you expect to get from said leather? And is there any use for that in potions?¡± ¡°To be quite frank, yes. However much of those are dark oriented potions as your ministry classifies it.¡± ¡°Amelia, as an ally of house potter, is there anything that could be useful for me?¡± ¡°That I¡¯m aware of? No, the only one would be an enhancer to further provide protection from potion based ensorcellment. The rest are key ingredients from some of the more dehumanising dark rituals, those I would advise you to stay away from.¡± ¡°How many of those enhancer¡¯s could you provide from this specimen Master Ironfist?¡± ¡°At least thirty doses, though we would request that you allow us to guarantee their quality. We would charge you no fee for the rest of the organs and two tenths of the poison.¡± ¡°You¡¯re going to take me for a ride here Master Goblin. I¡¯m happy with the arrangements but I can¡¯t help but feel you¡¯re taking advantage. I understand the allure of these magical components and since you are doing me a favour, I wish to be accommodating. However, to put me at ease, would you agree to showing me a receipt to better understand what I¡¯m giving up? I would also request that you balance the monetary value of the trade so that I pay no more than 20% of the total value of the kill. I hope you understand that I¡¯m adding an extra 5% as a show of good will.¡± Amelia was shocked at this final negotiation, it was an excellent way to request that he isn¡¯t completely skinned for the value of the beast. Quite frankly, I know now that Harry, even without access to his ancestral family vaults need not want for the rest of his life if he lived modestly. Nodding thoughtfully the Goblin was stunned at the generosity. ¡°As a Master in my art, on behalf of the Goblin Nation, I agree to these terms with the following addendum. I will set that rate at 10% on the condition that you also use any services for crafting through Goblin Artisans. I assure you that only Master crafters will touch the materials that you will be using.¡± ¡°Sounds good, now, I claim the rest of the miscellaneous stuff in the Chambers as part of my right as conquest. I hope that¡¯s possible Amelia? I found it, finders keepers as the muggles say.¡± A thoughtful look crossed Amelia''s face, ¡°I don¡¯t think they can stop you Harry. The entire school owes you a life debt, and quite frankly, from the stories of your past year here¡They owe you a great deal more. As a representative of the ministry I can sign off on it. I¡¯m sure the Goblins will recognise your claim.¡± ¡°Anything that you find here I hope you allow me to keep? If there is any knowledge I believe you would find useful I can share a copy for a¡ modest fee, as you say.¡± Harry smirked across at Ironfist. Cackling with glee the old goblin was slapping his thigh with merriment. ¡°Perfectly reasonable Heir Potter. With all the previous stipulations?¡± ¡°As long as the Ritual preparation is also part of the payment I agree, Master Ironfist.¡± Reaching out a hand they sealed the deal. Overall Harry was happy, even if he didn¡¯t get the ¡®better¡¯ of them. After they shook, his apprentice walked over, with a contract covering all the relevant points that were discussed. A few minutes verifying the contract on both parties with Amelia¡¯s help of course, to which they then both signed and sealed the agreement with a blood quill. ¡°Perfect! Come along now Mr. Potter, let¡¯s get up close and personal with this beasty. I want to see the battleground and the mortal wound you gave it!¡± The Master said, wriggling with excitement. There are few things that instill pure joy into a goblin more than a deal well made and a battle well fought. ¡°Amelia, Aurors, if you would follow me I can walk you through where and what happened before they start their work. Master Goblins, you¡¯re welcome to hear this tale to relay back to the Goblin Nation.¡± It took another hour to fully explain and walk everyone through the harrowing battle, but with the slain beast in front of them it was easy enough for them to believe. The auror¡¯s then took some magical readings noting down all the relevant information before the Goblins were allowed to start their work. Harry was standing to the side looking up at Salazar''s statue when Amelia walked to his side, ¡°I¡¯m glad to see that you proved yourself honest Harry. It¡¯s a terribly impressive thing that you¡¯ve accomplished here. Quite frankly I can scarcely believe it. Why don¡¯t you have a photo in front of your kill? A little memento if you like. I asked the Goblins to wait a moment before starting.¡± ¡°I just want to get the ritual over and done with honestly Amelia, will it take long? I¡¯m feeling pretty anxious in this room.¡± ¡°Honestly, they will carve it inside out to get to the Heart. Should take no more than five minutes. You might as well get photographic evidence of your accomplishment. For your memories if nothing else.¡± ¡°You know what? I may have hated doing it, but now that I¡¯ve done it I should feel proud.¡± Harry shook his head in dismay, ¡°I have nothing to be ashamed of so why not!¡± After he had a few photos taken with a copy going to Amelia, signed of course. Harry let the goblins get on with their business. Master Ironfist began preparing a ritual circle to the side, one that was cleared for him by one of the aurors, while his apprentice started sharpening and preparing himself to dive through the mouth of the beast to cut out its heart. Overall it took around another forty minutes before Steelclaw returned, covered in coagulating blood. A heart taller and wider than he was raised high above his head. ¡°Don¡¯t get excited now, this one was so old it had two. Bear with me.¡± Placing it reverently down upon a leather sheet he dove back in once more. Returning only ten minutes after with the second. ¡°You never know how many these beasties can have. There are records of them having three or more, sometimes in multiple places.¡± Shaking off the gore he said, ¡°You¡¯re all set now lad, once the ritual is squared away I recommend you get stuck in.¡± ¡°What do I have to do Amelia?¡± ¡°It¡¯s simple enough from your end, use your sword to stake the heart in the centre of the bigger circle whilst you proclaim your Conquest Rites. At which point I will beseech magic on your behalf to grant you a boon for this feat of strength against all odds.¡± ¡°Now, you will feel the ritual circle power up when you first stake the heart. The tricky part is to open yourself to magic and to ¡®claim¡¯ your prize when the time is right. The longer it goes on, and it will go on for a while, the more power you will receive. Just trust your instincts, OK Harry? Don¡¯t be nervous.¡± It was only a short while later that Harry was staring across a ritual circle from Amelia. They were in the nude which was a unique situation for Harry. He¡¯d never seen a woman even remotely close to being naked, never mind completely starkers! It was very difficult for him not to stare, although it helped a great deal that he couldn¡¯t wear his glasses for this. Holding Gryffindors sword in his dominant hand. He prepared himself, ready to beseech magic to come to his aid. Luckily for him? It did. Chapter 6 - Rites and Rituals Chamber of Secrets, Hogwarts - May 14, 1995 Breathing deeply in preparation, Harry waited. He wasn¡¯t sure what for, but he felt it approaching. There¡¯s a correct time for everything and this wasn¡¯t any different. He felt a guiding hand on his shoulder, nudging him to do certain things. To take a small step back and rotate around the ritual circle a certain amount. To manoeuvre both hearts just so, all so that he could stake his claim on both. Once he felt everything was prepared properly, he waited. Patience was the aim of the game, just like he did the day before. It required a great deal of patience and cunning to slay such a monster, even if in this instance Harry triumphed through sheer luck. Yet when the time to strike came? He unleashed a killing blow worthy of Hercules and other mythical heroes. There was nothing more satisfying than seeing the threat to your very life and existence lying dead at your feet. So when the time to begin the ritual came it was no surprise to others that it was, coincidentally, the same time that he struck the beast down yesterday. Piercing both hearts at once with Godric¡¯s legendary sword, he began his proclamation, his plea to Mother Magic herself. Formal words declaring his Conqueror¡¯s right were spoken. A fourteen year old man who was stuck in the body equivalent to that of an eleven year old child. Amelia Bones, standing in for his guardians, beseeched Mother Magic to bless the Hunter before her. One who has done the impossible and slain a beast beyond human ability. Done so in single combat, with nothing but a bared blade as his companion. His wand lost, his magic uncontrollable without it. Using nothing but sheer bravery and a courageous heart. Once she was finished she stepped forward and knelt on both knees. Her arms raised in supplication, sweat beading across her brow. They both stood in a frozen tableau, patiently suffering through the condensing of wild magic. Old magic. Magic older than the memory of man. The tension was so thick you could cut it with a knife, even Madam Pomfrey was ruffled. Her usual unflappable appearance was nowhere to be seen. During the entire trip down and even during Harry¡¯s recounting of events she simply became more and more horrified. Now she just clutched her healer''s symbol, a small copy of the staff of asclepius and beseeched mother magic on Harry¡¯s behalf. ¡®He had just been through so much already¡¡¯ The Goblins however were thrilled. As one of the rituals that worked despite race, they knew what all the signs in the ritual pointed towards. That this was a true claim, a feat worthy of acclaim. Bowing their heads with savage grins upon their face, they showed respect to one of the only wizards in living memory to be worthy of acknowledgement in the eyes of the Goblin Nation. The auror¡¯s initially turned their back on the ritual out of respect for their nude boss. Though when the ritual was ¡®paused¡¯ for a good few minutes they couldn¡¯t help but check on the progress. They turned and witnessed a tableau that took their breath away. A young man stood, knees bent with messy hair standing on end, as if he was stuck in a thunderstorm, his emerald eyes lit from within. Nothing but grim determination and commitment to a cause etched upon his face, while he stared straight ahead, arm extended with his sword in hand. A picture of indomitable will and courage. Their normally strict employer, on her knees in supplication to a higher power. A reverse of any normal interaction with her, that she would ¡®debase¡¯ herself on behalf of another was shocking for them. That she was doing it for a ¡®right¡¯ reason just raised the image of her in their eyes. They couldn¡¯t help but notice the numerous scars that adorned her skin. The toned physique showing a magical warrior who would do all she can if confronted with a battle. Her usual hazel eyes concealed, but they could not help but imagine her fiery personality daring even Mother Magic herself to deny her plea. Magic built up in the ritual circle, so much that even an unskilled Wizard would be able to sense it. Its palpable presence began to manifest, condensing into the heart. Occasionally discharging into the floor around the symbolic representation of the slain beast. Terrifying all that were gathered. Fifteen long minutes passed and as time seemed to stretch and bend towards the sixteenth. The physical tension snapped like a rubber band, like Magic herself gave permission for his rightful claim. Not a flinch in sight, the young man stepped forward beginning to carve his prey¡¯s heart into a handful sized chunks, consuming it piecemeal. A savage grin on his face, nodding to Amelia to do the same. No hesitation, no disgust. Just a primal need to conquer and consume a beast who once saw him as prey. Taking his rightful revenge against the nightmare inducing monster of his dreams. Madame Bones stood proud. Her main role in the ritual over, she hesitated to join him but with his clear invitation they feasted upon a meat so saturated in magic they would then go on to notice visible changes in themselves. Though these gifts would take time to manifest it was undoubtedly a gift from Magic herself. Amelia limited herself during their rampant feast to no more than a third of the first heart. Her magic informed her that to take more was to sin against magic and she heeded her instinct. She just hoped that what happened occurred for the right reasons, and that if she benefitted it was just so that she could assist the young man infront of her. His young frame was so slight, his bones in places were visibly curved after repeated beatings. It was a tragic sight that made even her hardened heart recoil in sorrow and rage. Children were seen as the ultimate gift of Mother Magic and she hoped that, if she was to earn anything from this ritual, it would be to regain the ability to bear children. Shaking herself free of her wandering thoughts, close to thirty minutes had passed since they began to feast. Harry was on the last part of his meal and he had just started to slow down. ¡°Finish it Harry, no matter how sick you may feel. This is a gift from Magic, do not spurn her grace.¡± He nodded his head in acknowledgement, the primal urgings had waned and to be quite honest with himself he didn¡¯t hate the taste of the meat. Just the clumps of congealed blood. Their texture was not to his liking, to put it lightly. The group patiently waited for the rite to be finished, once Harry stood up, they both exited the ritual circle. Breaking the call to magic. Wandlessly summoning her magical foci to her hand, she quickly began to clean herself up. Dressing slowly and carefully, her skin feeling too hot, too tight. As if she was tingling all over, overflowing with magic. Harry was likewise seen to by Madam Pomfrey. In her typical mothering fashion she went full mama bear, fussing and cajoling him to put on his clothes while she cast innumerous diagnostic spells. While she did so, the Goblins approached Amelia once she was dressed with an unusually solemn expression upon their face. This content has been misappropriated from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere. ¡°Madame Bones, a word?¡± said Master Ironfist, an arm directing her away from the group. ¡°Of course, what¡¯s the problem?¡± she replied, as they stepped away. ¡°It¡¯s not a problem per se, Madame. Since young Warrior Potter does not fully understand the ritual, we hoped to impress upon you the responsibilities that come with it.¡± He stated firmly. His diminutive frame was no impediment to his ability to express his battle born will. ¡°By Goblin culture, you are now seen as an Elder, a Guide to the young. That is the role of one who takes part in such rituals. That Mother Magic expressed and allowed you such a large portion of the boon is a sign of a blessing.¡± He trailed off, lost in thought. ¡°I would expect you to gain a benefit from this, however we wished to warn you. To always act in the best interest of the young Warrior. Magic is watching you.¡± Shocked, Amelia stood silenced by the pronouncement. ¡°I never intended to do otherwise Master Goblins. I never intended to benefit from this ritual, this was truly just a way to help young Harry. There are few known rituals that can assist Wizards gain an injection of magic that would assist in a way that wasn¡¯t detrimental to them. I did not wish for him to look for paths that would lead him down paths with the Blackest of magics.¡± ¡°A noble sentiment Lady Bones. As an ally of House Potter and for your deeds this day, we choose to honour you personally, as we once did your ancestors. I name you, Hunters Guide Bones, the first of your line for over two centuries if I am not mistaken. You stand as an acknowledged and respected member of wizardkind, and we on behalf of the Goblin Nation acknowledge you thus with all the rights that entails. To find out more please contact and talk to your accounts manager.¡± Finishing his proclamation with the deepest of bows, as one subservient to the other. Returning a bow of equals was no less than her honour demanded, as written in her ancestors journals she responded with ¡°I acknowledge your proclamation with the respect it is due. For as long as I am Regent of House Bones, my house will always act with honour and respect to the Goblin Nation. As long as I draw breath, I will always be an ally of the Goblin Nation, so I swear, as I say, so mote it be.¡± A golden flash lit the chamber, shocking the Goblins to the core. Their eyes lit up and a toothless grin softened their appearances. ¡°It has been nigh on two centuries since the Goblin Nation can say they have a member of Wizardkind as a friend.¡± They said whilst bowing in unison. ¡°Our thanks on behalf of our people.¡± A small commotion overtook the other half of the group. An auror had just caught Harry to lay him on the cold stone floor. Madame Pomfrey was diving through her bag, looking for her emergency stretcher. Amelia began to rush over however the Goblins off-hand comment helped her relax. ¡°Elder Bones, you need not worry. This is a normal reaction to an influx of such potent magical energy. I promise you that he will be up and about in less than five minutes. Mother magic is simply helping him process this new infusion of power.¡± ¡°Time to get to work Silverclaw,¡± Clapping his hands, the pair of goblins made their way over. Swiftly unpacking many of their enchanted storage containers. Amelia shifted her focus once again, moving towards the aurors. ¡°Status update gents?¡± She said firmly. Careful to keep the concern from her voice. ¡°Poppy¡¯s seeing to him, he just collapsed mid conversation.¡± ¡°Poppy, your analysis?¡± Amelia asked, keen to keep the conversation rolling. ¡°For now all I can say is that his body is going into overdrive. His magic saturation reads as way beyond what he previously showed before.¡± Sitting back on her heels, you could clearly see she was at a loss, just determined to look out for the young man. ¡°So far I think it¡¯s a mix between physical and magical exhaustion. If I¡¯m right he should regain consciousness shortly. Otherwise I¡¯m doing more in depth scans of his body.¡± ¡°What have you found so far?¡± ¡°It''s¡astonishing really. His body is recovering in real time, occasionally you can even hear the cracks of his bones resetting. His organ function has shown remarkable improvement and many of his scars are disappearing¡¡± She shook her head. ¡°Though some aren¡¯t. Some of the magical ones definitely aren¡¯t. The more serious scarring like the brands from his¡late family, haven¡¯t disappeared even though they are purely mundane in nature.¡± She snorted at that. ¡°Quite frankly I¡¯m surprised at that. The only thing I can think of is that they are a¡sign? Signal? Of a serious event of his life that Magic herself doesn¡¯t wish him to forget. There are plenty of cases with similar wounds that have been documented. Ones that are so simple to heal yet, no one was able to do so.¡± ¡°That¡¯s good to know.¡± Exhaling sharply, she said ¡°The goblins informed me that this was a normal occurrence with those undergoing the Hunter¡¯s ritual. The truly extraordinary feats see this outcome in the majority of cases. The explanation they gave me was that it was Mother Magic allowing them time to absorb her gift.¡± Exhaling softly, Poppy muttered a quick ¡°I hope so.¡± ¡°We can bring him up to the Hospital wing once he¡¯s woken up Poppy. Let me make arrangements for my team and the goblins, and we can go together. Hopefully Harry will wake up by that point, OK?¡± She said with a smile. Confident that her new friends, or allies, would not lie to her. ¡°Sounds good Amelia.¡± Walking away she moved to her contracted workers. ¡°Master Goblins, how long do you expect your work to take?¡± Turning to her Master Ironfist responded with ¡°We might be done by the end of the day. Although I wouldn¡¯t want to rush, perhaps tomorrow at the latest.¡± ¡°Do you need anything? Sustenance? Sleeping arrangements?¡± ¡°We have all we need. Though we would like to request you allow our Cursebreakers to come and help us explore the secrets of the chamber. Everything herein is under Warrior Potter¡¯s Conquest rights.¡± ¡°Of course, do you have a way of messaging your people? How should I coordinate with them?¡± ¡°If you wouldn¡¯t mind owling our offices, that would be enough. I have a message all ready for you to send.¡± Bowing his head in thanks and respect, ¡°Now if you wouldn¡¯t mind Elder, we have plenty of work ahead of us.¡± Apprentice Silverclaw handed her an envelope. ¡°Everything that has transpired to now is held within. You will be treated a great deal differently next you visit Gringotts. Please, see your account manager at your earliest convenience. It is important for you to gain full benefit of the rights you should be accorded. Remember that it is within Goblin¡¯s nature to challenge a respected person¡¯s rights. It helps keep everyone strong.¡± He said, smiling toothily. ¡°Of course, Silverclaw. I will see to it.¡± Bowing her head in farewell, she beckoned her aurors over to her. ¡°Right gents, we won¡¯t need you here but I will need you guarding Harry. Six hours on, six hours off. No one I do not give you approval of to see him. OK?¡± She paused for a moment. ¡°If any students ask to see him, ask his opinion first alright?¡± ¡°Copy that, ma¡¯am.¡± They chorused in unison. ¡°Alright then, fall in. Let¡¯s get him settled and grab a late lunch. I¡¯m starving for some reason.¡± Chuckling the battle hardened warriors moved together. Just in time for Poppy to notice Harry stirring. ¡°Perfect timing, Harry. Up you get, let''s get you a bed before you have a nap ey?¡± she joked, reaching a hand down towards him. Nodding her head towards his sword, ¡°Grab that would you?¡± ¡°Here kid, you dropped this.¡± Said the oddly dressed moroccan. Handing him the sword once he was back on his feet. ¡°What happened?¡± ¡°You just passed out on your feet, ya big girl.¡± The auror with the streaky hair proclaimed, grinning all the while. ¡°That was intense though, I don¡¯t blame ya!¡± A sheepish grin graced his face while he checked out their expressions. He saw no judgement, just genuine concern hidden behind jokes and humour. ¡®Might not be a bad idea to become an Auror someday,¡¯ Harry thought to himself. ¡°So there was talk about a bed?¡± he said saucily, winking at Amelia while offering her and Poppy his arm. ¡°Why you little scamp!¡± They both said, grabbing an arm each as they laughed. Starting the trip back to the Hospital wing. Chapter 7 - Freedom & Fighting Corridor outside Moaning Myrtle''s Bathroom, Hogwarts - May 14, 1995 ¡°That was some adventure kid,¡± Kingsley Shacklebolt said, interrupting Harry¡¯s nonchalant stretching. His body was repeatedly crackling, it was disconcerting to everyone. Even more to Poppy Pomfrey. She was non stop casting diagnostic spells while they were making their way back to the Hospital wing. The constant muttering was annoying at first, but all of them took it in stride. ¡°Need me to slow down Poppy?¡± Harry joked. ¡°Yeah, it was pretty crazy. Now that it¡¯s over I¡¯m just relieved in all honesty. Negative eleven out of ten. Would not recommend doing that again.¡± ¡°Which part kid? The Hunters Rites? Or the slaying of the beast?¡± Joked Cassius Hatton, another Senior Auror. ¡°Don¡¯t get me started Cassius, both those things were bad for different reasons. Hitting a bit of clotted blood was YUCK, let me tell you!¡± Harry shouted, dramatically waving his arms around. ¡°Alright, alright Harry, settle down.¡± Amelia said laughing. Glad to see a little life return to the young man. Suddenly solemn, Harry asked something that he was curious about, ¡°So, what ended up happening to Fraudheart?¡± He asked. ¡°Well, he was trying to fake that he was obliviated. To get away from all the charges. Thankfully one of our Senior Aurors caught on pretty quick. Caught him in a lie and we ended up dosing him with Veritaserum.¡± Amelia responded, ¡°Now normally I shouldn¡¯t tell you that, but since you brought some of his crimes to light, it¡¯s very clear that you deserve to know as one of his victims.¡± Sighing, Amelia led the way down to the entrance hall. ¡°There is some stuff I will hold back on like, who his victims were. We¡¯ve informed the parents, and Poppy knows about it so we¡¯re going to offer Mind Healer treatment.¡± She scoffed, ¡°Like that makes up for what Albus allowed right under his nose. I doubt those kids will be coming back to Hogwarts. Who would when they don¡¯t feel safe.¡± Harry awkwardly tried to straighten his hair, ¡°Errh, that brings up one of my concerns honestly, Amelia. I¡¡± Sighing heavily, she looked at him calmly. ¡°I¡¯ve been expecting this, gents. Stand guard alright?¡± ¡°You¡¯ll bring him back when he¡¯s done Amelia?¡± Poppy asked. ¡°Of course, he¡¯ll be safe with me.¡± Amelia replied ¡°I want to start him on his potions regimen this evening, but I will need to consult someone from St. Mungos first. A specialist on recovery, the changes he¡¯s still undergoing from the Hunter¡¯s Rite is extraordinary. We will just have to see if you manifest any extra gifts.¡± Waving her goodbye¡¯s Poppy headed off on her own way. Nods from both Aurors who wore a serious mien, a far cry from their earlier joking and camaraderie. As Amelia directed him to an empty classroom, Harry pondered what he really wanted. It was just¡too simple, if he was being honest with himself. A simple request, Family and Safety. He was tired of always being alone, but he was the last of the Potters, it was impossible for him to have a family. It¡¯s why his friends are so important to him, it was what he imagined a family to be like. ¡®Finding just one friend here was more than I ever dreamed of, but to continue to risk my life here? Why should I even stay?¡¯ Hopefully Amelia has some answers or advice for me¡ Once they arrived, with a few flicks of her wand Amelia made a small area clean and presentable. Conjuring two comfy chairs to have a conversation. ¡°Allright, now I know this is going to be a hard conversation. But¡I would like to ask how you feel about Hogwarts and what has happened to you over the past few years.¡± Pausing for a moment, ¡°Yet, I already know that if it was me, I would hightail it out of here for greener pastures. Not ever looking back. The adults around you, those that were supposed to protect you, failed you. In such a horrific way.¡± ¡°Even many of your classmates are atypically cruel towards you, jealous of your fame and reputation. Not understanding your struggles and pain. I¡¯m surprised you¡¯ve held out as long as you have. Now, that part was as an ally of House Potter, and¡ your Hunters Guide.¡± Amelia finished her rant softly, showing her understanding of his situation and clear empathy for the whole thing. ¡°However¡¡± She continued, ¡°As a Ministry of Magic representative, I have to advise you honestly. If you wish to take up your duties as a Head of House Potter in our government, it would be best if you study here and get to know your future peers.¡± ¡°Hogwarts is more than a school. It¡¯s where the British Wizarding Elite learn, socialise and form future alliances. Much of your experiences here, good and bad, will eventually cement their opinions on issues such as Muggle Borns and Pure Blood ideologies.¡± Sighing heavily, ¡°To be honest Harry, to see your care and concern for Hermione, Granger right?¡± at his nod she continued. ¡°A muggle born witch is heartening. With your fame and your position you have a great opportunity to change the next generation''s opinion on many things, and more importantly to change our society for the better.¡± ¡°I know you don¡¯t see the full picture yet, since you haven¡¯t seen much of our society, but in the interest of transparency. We¡¯re stuck in a rut.¡± She said with a chuckle, ¡°Stuck in the past some might say. Lord Moldy¡¯s rise forced our entire culture into a state of fear and stagnation. It¡¯s a travesty how much effect one powerfully gifted, yet misguided person, can halt a society¡¯s progress.¡± ¡°I guess I can see that. I could become a powerful symbol for change is what you¡¯re trying to say right?¡± Harry replied. A thoughtful expression on his face. ¡°Yet all I¡¯ve known is struggle and strife since I¡¯ve entered the wizarding world. Why should I? What¡¯s in it for me? The only people that have shown me consistent kindness so far are you and Poppy.¡± ¡°I have to put myself first, I refuse to do otherwise. If you can come up with a compromise, that would allow me to enjoy my magical education, risk free.¡± Punctuating this statement with a firm look. ¡°Then I can consider it, honestly, I¡¯ve received more respect from a race of people that most wizards look down on. I would rather live with goblins at this rate!¡± Exclaimed Harry, clearly a little worked up over everything. Amelia took some time to respond, giving him time to calm down and take her words seriously, to hear the sincerity she was trying to give him. ¡°I know, which is why we¡¯re having this honest conversation.¡± She let him ruminate on that statement. ¡°This is what I will promise you for now, Harry. Listen well, I¡¯m honestly stepping way out of bounds here.¡± ¡°You will always have access to my guidance and counsel. No matter the situation you find yourself in. In fact, I wish to give you the same level of support as I do my Niece. We also need to talk about her a little later. I need to straighten her out first.¡± She harrumphed at this, ¡°I don¡¯t believe that girl, shaming our house like that with her poor behaviour.¡± ¡°Secondly, I am going to work to find a good compromise for you so if you choose, you can continue schooling here.¡± Exhaling sharply, she said ¡°This is the hard one, I¡¯m not sure how that will turn out, whether we will even be able to remove Dumbledore from power here. Right now I¡¯ve got him on a bunch of charges, but his supporters will probably get him out after his trial.¡± The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation. She waved her hand at his look of concern, ¡°You don¡¯t need to worry about that. I¡¯m delaying the trial for as long as possible, gathering allies and evidence of his wrong doing.¡± ¡°Next is the one that directly concerns you, your health.¡± She slammed her fist on the armrest of the chair. ¡°We have failed you, our saviour. The young boy who slayed one of the most powerful Dark Lords Wizarding Britain has ever known. On behalf of the Ministry, I will endeavour to fix that. Poppy and I have good connections in WCS, that¡¯s wizarding child services, and St. Mungos. I promise that you will get the help you need, even if I need to fund the treatment myself.¡± ¡°That¡¯s a lot to take in, honestly you did the right thing letting me know in advance. That way I can see how I feel about it all¡¡± Harry took off his glasses and rubbed his eyes, ¡°Honestly, I would want to talk to ¡®Mione. I want her advice, she always sees things so logically. It helps me form my opinions and plans for what to do. I hope you understand that I won¡¯t make any decision immediately. I just never want to be under Dumbledore''s control again. Especially after hearing half the accusations Professor McGonagall was throwing around.¡± Nodding her head Amelia responded quickly, ¡°That¡¯s the best response I could have hoped for. You¡¯re acting remarkably mature about this Harry. I appreciate your honesty about how you feel and what you think regarding this topic. I know it¡¯s a pretty heavy thing to contemplate, the effect you can have on our society. It¡¯s unfair of the Ministry to ask this of you, but this is the reality we live in.¡± ¡°I just want to know my options, all I ever wanted was a family and safety. I will do whatever it takes to have those things.¡± Harry said quietly. ¡°Understandable Harry, now that¡¯s enough of that! Let''s go get some snacks, or perhaps head back to the hospital wing?¡± ¡°Would love to get some snacks honestly, I¡¯m getting REALLY hungry.¡± Harry said, rubbing his stomach softly. It even made them jump with a loud growl! ¡°Well, that settles that then! Off we go!¡± Amelia exclaimed, heading out while tidying behind them. ¡°Glad you thought to bring that stuff up Ma¡¯am. Means a lot to me¡¡± Harry said timidly. ¡°You¡¯re very welcome Harry¡¡±
xOxOx The trip down to the Kitchens would have been quick if not for the argument they saw brewing in the Entrance hall. Though now that he thought about it, he isn¡¯t surprised the blonde fool was trying to swing his metaphorical dick around. Although now that Harry thought about it¡did he have a hand in what happened this year? With his slithery reputation, it sounds like something he would do. The real question was when and how he managed to plant the little black book with Ginny. While the group approached the confrontation, Harry was hard at work thinking about what happened. There was no clear way he could prove that the man had a direct hand in the opening of the Chamber. Yet, just the fact that he recognised that slightly crazed house-elf was enough for young Harry. After all, the little blighter had been plaguing him all year to leave Hogwarts so he would be safe. It was clear that he was responsible now, just an impossibility to frame him for the crime. ¡°...It matters not what you say Minerva. The Board has spoken, Hogwarts and all staff shall come under review for your multiple failures to act this year. The students'' education has suffered and many of them even became petrified!¡± Lucius Malfoy exclaimed, clearly trying to cause a scene in front of some of the students. A very Slytherin move that he recognised immediately as a shallow ploy, one often played by his son Draco. Whispering a quick request to Amelia Bones, he took his bounty in hand while removing a sock from his foot. Hoping to bamboozle the fool into freeing his, hopefully, new friend. Minerva responded quickly, putting the fool in his place if only he would look around and notice it. ¡°...The situation has already been resolved, Lucius. In fact, we already know where the Chamber of Secrets has been located, rescued the girl that supposedly died and have Auror¡¯s on site as I¡¯ve already mentioned!¡± ¡°Pfaw! I don¡¯t believe it for one second. You¡¯re clearly lying to save face. If those things have occurred you would have a suspect in custody, yes? Why is he or she not in a ministerial holding cell to pay for their crimes! I have the ear of the Minister, so I would know!¡± He spoke slowly, trying to rile up the Deputy Headmistress once more. This was too good to pass up, so Harry stepped in front of Lucius, making his presence known while Madam Bones and the Auror¡¯s were not within his eyeline. ¡°Ahh, that¡¯s easy enough to explain, Lucy Old Chap. If you would care to listen at any rate. I hear that old people tend to stop listening as they grow older, perhaps that¡¯s just your ears, so you should get that checked out.¡± Harry cheekily replied, goading the slick looking aristocrat. Trying to anger him so he wouldn¡¯t think too clearly. ¡°You see, we found the culprit. It was a dark artefact, actually, you wouldn¡¯t know anything about that, Lucy?¡± Harry cut in before he could respond. Deliberately attempting to frustrate the poor man. ¡°I hear Arthur Weasley has been raiding people who have been known to be err¡ Experts in such things. You wouldn¡¯t happen to know about any of that, would you?¡± ¡°Of course not, I¡¯m an upstanding member of society. I don¡¯t own any such artefacts, Potter.¡± Harry just stared at him oddly, ¡°Are you sure you¡¯re not going deaf, Lucy? I just asked if you were an expert in such things. I was going to ask you to inspect the artefact in question since we are currently missing our Defense against the Dark arts professor. I¡¯m sure Professor McGonagall wouldn¡¯t mind, right?¡± Harry said, turning to look at the older woman. ¡°What a splendid idea Harry.¡± She replied, a glare followed, promising his comeuppance if an explanation was to be not forthcoming. ¡°Well there you have it, see? She¡¯s happy to receive the Board¡¯s assistance in this matter, and since you are supposed to be an expert¡¡± Harry smirked, handing over the destroyed diary of Tom Riddle¡¯s. For those paying attention to Lucius in that moment, you could tell his guilt. Regardless of his proficiency in Occlumency, his body language gave him away. A minor flinch here, a microexpression there. It was as good as an admittance of guilt, which Harry was sure that the Auror¡¯s present noticed. ¡°So what do you think?¡± ¡°It¡¯s just a tattered old book covered in Ink, what¡¯s there to notice Potter?¡± he smirked in response. ¡°Well we can see the name is a student, supposedly at least, called Tom Marvolo Riddle. You wouldn¡¯t know anyone by that name would you, Lucius? Some light research showed that he was Slytherin Head Boy in the 1940¡¯s.¡± Harry responded, trying to put some pressure on Lucius. ¡°Potter, I will say this plainly, what are you trying to insinuate about me, Head of House Malfoy?¡± He asked, sticking his nose into the air. ¡°Nothing at all, after all you¡¯re the expert in Dark Artefacts. I mean, I¡¯m just the one who found the Chamber, opened it, and killed the thousand year old basilisk inside.¡± Harry stood straight and tall, not giving an inch to his attempts at intimidation. ¡°I¡¯m also the one who rescued the student, who was being possessed by that Diary, and even talked to the original person who crafted the thing.¡± Harry said confidently, ¡°I then stabbed it with a Basilisk fang to destroy any magic that was enchanting it. Hence the splurge of ink, and the giant acid burn through the centre of it¡ Insinuating that the Heir of House Potter is a liar is awfully convenient, non?¡± ¡°Pfaw, it¡¯s just an old wet book.¡± Lucius said, visually unnerved. ¡°Trash in fact, I don¡¯t believe that the so-called Aurors are taking you seriously, you deluded boy.¡± His tone full of poison and vitriol. ¡°Clearly, they let you keep the thing, so it isn¡¯t important in any such investigation.¡± Lucius turned, before throwing the Diary away. ¡°Once I¡¯m done here, I will expose your lies for what they are, Potter. Mark my words!¡± He spat over his shoulder. ¡°Dobby, come we are leaving!¡± He shouted, before facing forward and seeing the scene before him. Three auror¡¯s, one of which was the head of department and a small elf wearing a ragged pillow case. ¡°Dobby¡± Harry said, ¡°why don¡¯t you try opening up that diary for me?¡± In front of the small group of witnesses, Dobby timidly opened the book. Clueless about what was to come. A shocked gasp flowed through the crowd, with whispers to follow. ¡°Dobby¡ D-d-dobby is free!¡± He said, with shock and awe on his face. ¡°You¡¯re very welcome Dobby.¡± Harry said with a small smile. Chapter 8 - Fury & Friends Entrance Hall, Hogwarts - May 14, 1995 A scream of pure rage cut through the hubbub in the Entrance Hall. Lucius Malfoy, Head of House Malfoy, outwitted and goaded to a blinding rage by a child the same age as his son. How infuriating! Drawing his wand with a simple flick of his wrist, he turned to confront the boy in his fury. Blind to his surroundings, not even deigning to acknowledge the existence of Senior Aurors, nor the head of the DMLE. ¡°You cost me my elf, BRAT!¡± The man hissed in his fury, ¡°Bomb¡¡± With a flick of her wand, Minerva put an end to that with a silent casting of the Tongue locking jinx, Langlock. ¡°That¡¯s quite enough of that Mr. Malfoy.¡± Minerva¡¯s sharp voice cut through the silence, immediately stunning the ex-student in his tracks. ¡°I¡¯m awfully disappointed in one of my ex-Head Boys behaving like this. I¡¯m quite willing to suffer your unrelenting verbal diatribes, as it¡¯s within your nature as a Slytherin to manoeuvre for your benefit. However¡¡± She raises her head while pointing her wand under his chin. ¡°Don¡¯t you ever forget that these students will forever be under my protection. I will enforce their safety if I have to, by force if necessary. Do I make myself clear?¡± Her voice is the only sound to be heard within the cavernous hall. ¡°Do not forget that I do not only hold my masteries in Transfiguration, Mr. Malfoy. In fact, I earned my Battle Magics and Dueling Masteries immediately after the war¡¡± She whispered quietly, before raising her voice to such a degree that you could feel the very power of her restrained wrath within. ¡°AND YOU KNOW WHY! I would recognise your pathetic excuse for a wand, or your pitiful excuse for spellwork anywhere, Malfoy. Do not give me reason to end you where you stand.¡± Her knowing gaze pierced his very soul, his body acting traitor as it started to tremble with fear. ¡°I know who was at my house the night I lost my husband.¡± She stated, stating an unequivocal fact. She shook her head in disgust, never removing her gaze from the cretin before her. ¡°The only reason you still draw breath is because Albus in all his wisdom, pushed me into becoming Deputy Headmistress. After the war, I was willing to leave Hogwarts and enforce my will, my brand of justice, upon those who would harm my ex-students; Muggle, Half-blood or Pureblood. They all died the same, under a terrorist regime.¡± She was quivering with fury, approaching the blond fool as he backed away. Unwittingly exiting Hogwarts. ¡°For you to dare slander me, I can handle that. After all, you are a small minded fool.¡± She said, the crowd now gathering to hear every one of her words. Secret¡¯s were being let slip that ¡®polite¡¯ society deigned to forget. ¡°For you to slander the boy who slayed a Basilisk with nothing more than Godric Gryffindor''s sword¡Without a wand no less!¡± McGonagall paused, taking a breath before unleashing a torrent of fury that no one had seen since the war. ¡°I WILL NOT HAVE IT!¡± It was at this point that Amelia stepped in, making her presence known. ¡°That¡¯s enough Minerva.¡± She stated, deadpan. A voice accustomed to being acknowledged and obeyed, just like Minerva. The witches exchanged glances, before both turning their eyes upon the man who embodied some of the worst traits of the Slytherin house. Lucius seemed to find some courage from somewhere, regardless of all the embarrassment and hinted at accusations coming to light. ¡°Amelia, please protect me, she started assaulting me out of nowhere¡¡± ¡°Enough Lucius, that you even dare attempt to lie to me while I witnessed everything, just goes to show how pathetic you are.¡± ¡°How dare you accuse the Head of a Venerable Magic house, you will pay for that! Do not test me woman, I can and will declare blood feud on you both!¡± ¡°Firstly, Lucy dear, you attempted to assault my protectee. One person I just performed the Hunters Rite as his guide. Secondly, you do not have the skill, nor the ability to stop me from eradicating your line. And three, you are really willing to declare blood feud while McGonagall teaches your blithering fool for an heir in her school?¡± Amelia scoffed. ¡°To even attempt to threaten a Ministry Official is grounds for a stay in my cells. Your pureblood heritage or not, I am of an Ancient House. There is no rank disparity you can leverage over me.¡± Gazing down imperiously upon Lucius, the pair of formidable women stared him down and made him cower. ¡°Remember who caught you while you were under Imperius, Lucius you clown. Senior Aurors? Please take his statement of why he is on Hogwarts grounds and investigate to the full extent of the law under what auspices of authority he does so. If you find anything, and I mean, absolutely anything¡I am willing to back that complaint to the hilt.¡± ¡°This is not the end of this Amelia, your position is not as firm as you believe¡¡± he threatened. ¡°Look around you Lucius, I have close to a hundred witnesses.¡± She waved behind herself, many students were lined up in front of the doorway to the Entrance hall. Viewing Lucius as nothing more than a silly kind of fool. ¡°And that¡¯s the second time you¡¯ve threatened a Ministry employee.¡± She sighs dramatically, ¡°It seemed the first warning was not enough. That will be a fine, and after my Senior Auror¡¯s investigation, I believe a great deal more will follow...¡±
Previously¡ Unseen by the larger crowd a young man and a house-elf quietly slipped away. Happy to no longer be the centre of attention. That was until his name was mentioned as the saviour of the student who supposedly died. If you encounter this tale on Amazon, note that it''s taken without the author''s consent. Report it. At this point though they were calmly walking towards the Hospital Wing, well, Harry was. Dobby was¡excitable. ¡°Great Master Harry Potter Sir, Dobby¡¯s be thankin¡¯ you for freeing me. It¡¯s wonderful that I¡¯m free of bad master.¡± He exclaimed, gesticulating wildly and hopping all around. ¡°That¡¯s quite alright Dobby, I acknowledge that you tried to help me during the year, even if I got hurt doing so¡¡± He trailed off, noticing Dobby¡¯s expression turning sad. ¡°Enough about that though, I don¡¯t mind. Your heart was in the right place!¡± Harry said, forcing a smile. Dobby perked up immediately, while Harry just stared on, amazed. ¡®It¡¯s going to be quite a problem keeping up with the small elf,¡¯ he thought, bemused. ¡°Now, I know that you have always wanted your freedom from the¡bad masters.¡± Harry started, not knowing what he was going to do with the poor elf. It was clear he had lived a hard life, and suffered heavily for it. ¡°Do you have any idea what you would like to do for yourself now Dobby?¡± He asked tentatively. Humming in thought, the little elf looked lost. ¡°Harry Potter Sirs be caring about poor Dobby?¡± His eyes welled with tears. ¡°The stories are true! Harry Potter be a Great wizard.¡± He shouted, his exuberance clear. Launching himself at Harry he hugged his leg. Showing his heartfelt sincerity and appreciation. Patting his head gently Harry comforted the poor elf, asking quietly ¡°Is there anything else I can do for you friend?¡± Dobby started to ball his eyes out. ¡°Harry Potter sir, be too goods to Dobby¡¡± Dropping to his knees, he hugged the miserable looking elf. ¡°Dobby, it¡¯s ok. I just helped someone who helped me. Now think, is there anything I can do for you now that you are free?¡± At all the noise, unbeknownst to the pair, Poppy heard the commotion in the corridor and came to see what was going on. Observing the previous conversation, Poppy decided to step in. ¡°Mr. Potter?¡± she called, grabbing his attention. ¡°The poor elf looks terribly traumatised, why don¡¯t you bring him here and I¡¯ll look him over for you?¡± She beckoned, showing her gentle caring nature. While they walked into the Hospital wing together, she said softly, ¡°I know that you don¡¯t want to ask young Dobby, since you believe Harry should know what you want, right?¡± She said while casting a bevy of charms to ascertain his health. ¡°Unfortunately for you, Harry doesn¡¯t know much about wizarding customs, or the wizarding world in general. He¡¯s just a wonderful young man. If you wouldn¡¯t mind, can I explain it to him?¡± After patting the bed for Dobby to hop up, Poppy waited for the elf¡¯s confirmation before continuing. ¡°Now, Harry, he is unbelievably thankful for everything you¡¯ve done for him. However he would like to ask you something else, something that it is considered rude for them to ask a wizard they admire greatly.¡± She continued to potter around the hospital wing while having the conversation. Gathering the remedies to heal the poor elf and hopefully reverse some of the scarring. All the while Harry was on edge, a feeling had overtook him. His magic, he supposed, was guiding him to do something. He just needed to figure out what that was. Poppy, however continued her explanation while Harry was lost in thought. ¡°So with Dobby¡¯s permission I will explain a little bit about house-elves and what a wondrous role they play in our society.¡± Pausing for a moment, she started to apply a few creams and salves to Dobby¡¯s injuries. ¡°House-elves are a race that have a wondrous control of magic, however, the price they pay for this magic is their inability to generate magic of their own. Now this sounds like a horrible price to pay, and to some degree, it can be.¡± ¡°They get around this flaw, by binding themselves to other magicals, such as wizards and witches, or even entities like Hogwarts.¡± Harry nodded in acceptance of her words, Poppy continued her explanation. ¡°They in essence, choose to bind themselves in a Symbiotic relationship with their chosen magical partner.¡± ¡°That¡¯s¡troublesome¡¡± Harry said, deep in thought. ¡°Does that not make them slaves?¡± ¡°At first glance, you would assume so, yes?¡± Poppy raised an eyebrow at his statement. ¡°However they simply can¡¯t live without magic, they are incredibly sensitive to magic, emotion and magical intent. You could even say Mother Magic is so entwined with their being that they need it like all creatures need food to eat or air to breathe!¡± Finishing her explanation with excitement. ¡°Fascinating creatures really, so, Dobby would dearly love to ask you if you would bind yourself and him together. He would be honoured to serve you in any manner you prefer, to assist and make your life easier.¡± Poppy glared at Harry, ¡°This is an exchange, their loyalty and devotion to you and if you choose, to House Potter. In exchange they get some of your magic. Now, I expect you to take good care of him, you hear me, Potter!?¡± She questioned harshly. ¡°Of course, Poppy. I know what it¡¯s like to help and be seen as unappreciated. I would never treat another magical, or sentient creature for that matter in such a horrific way.¡± Harry said, affronted. ¡°Good, I wouldn¡¯t advocate for Dobby if I wasn¡¯t confident in how you would treat him, Harry.¡± She spoke gently, trying not to upset him more than she already has. ¡°I just wanted to stand up for Dobby, since as you know, he hasn¡¯t experienced a good life so far. Just like you.¡± This statement really hit home with Harry, since it just highlighted how similar the two of them were. This must be part of the reason that his magic urged him, incessantly so, since he saw Dobby, to help him somehow. With a quiet voice he asked Poppy, ¡°My magic is, unsteady¡ or something. I don¡¯t know how to explain it, but it started ever since I saw Dobby. Do you think it¡¯s asking me to¡help him?¡± Turning a bright smile to Harry, Poppy said ¡°I¡¯m sure of it Harry, people forget that Mother Magic is alive. That she guides and shelters us as we need it. Trust your magic, and trust your heart Harry.¡± Walking to Dobby he couldn¡¯t help but smile at how odd the little man looked all wrapped up in bandages in various places. ¡°Dobby,¡± Harry started gently, ¡°Would you like to bond with me? And be my friend?¡± Heart in their eyes, they both knew this moment would change their life for the better. ¡°...y-y-you mean it Master Harry sir? Y-y-ous wants Dobby?¡± ¡°Of course Dobby, you looked out for me. Tried to help me when your old master put me in danger. The least I could do is be there for you, give you friendship and support you as best I can¡¡± Harry responded gently. ¡°Please Master Harry sir, please!¡± He exclaimed, bouncing on the bed in excitement. Almost wriggling off the side in his glee. ¡°Ok, OK!¡± Harry said laughing. His glee was obvious, ¡°Could you show me how Dobby?¡± At this request Dobby did jump off the bed, pulling his arm to guide him into a more open area. He quickly started speaking, trying to explain. Yet just like it did in the Chamber, his magic guided him gently, insistently making modifications to what Dobby said. A short five minutes later, Dobby and Harry were bonded friends. A truly symbiotic relationship, built on trust and appreciation for each other. They were so happy getting to know one another that neither noticed when Poppy slipped away, until she returned carrying a plate of food for each of them. Encouraging them to take a seat and take some food in. Reminding Harry gently that he had a guest coming to visit him this evening at 6 o¡¯clock. To rest if he needed to, especially after two tiring magical rituals. ¡°Rest, Master Harry. I will wake you when it¡¯s time.¡± Dobby said, ¡°No need to worry, I will wake you if anything happens. Chapter 9 - Curse Conundrum Evening, Hospital Ward, Hogwarts - May 14, 1995 ¡°Master Harry¡¡± ¡°Master Harry Sir¡¡± BANG. CLANG BANG CRASH. Finally the noises pulled him out of his deep sleep. He was aching all over and still blind as a bat. Though he did notice that he was seeing colours, a weird thing to notice. Blearily opening his eyes, Harry finally noticed his googly eyed friend sitting on his chest. ¡°Hey Dobby, what time is it?¡± He managed to croak out. ¡°Seven o¡¯clock Master Harry Potter sir.¡± He promptly replied. ¡°Why did you wake me so late?¡± ¡°Miss and Mister Healer were examining you while you slept, sir. Should Dobby punish himself?¡± He asked, beginning to cringe away from him. ¡°Of course not Dobby! Pass me my glasses please?¡± He said, ¡°You never have to punish yourself with me. If you or I do something wrong we will talk about it. But that¡¯s it. Understood?¡± ¡°Master Harry is the greatest wizard.¡± Dobby said, eyes welling up with tears again. In awe of his new Master. Once Harry managed to get himself in order, he looked around for Madam Pomfrey. There was a lot still needed to be done, and he really wanted to talk about his physical recovery. Though Harry did notice that his shoes were tight and his legs a little chilly. Knocking on her office door, he heard a muffled call to enter. Letting himself in, he said loudly with a false sense of cheer, ¡°Sleeping beauty has awakened!¡± Poppy scoffed, yet said with a smile ¡°I¡¯m glad to see you start coming out of your shell Harry. It¡¯s heartening to see what can happen with a little support. Don¡¯t forget it young man, I will always support you. Got it?¡± ¡°Copy that, Ma¡¯am General sir!¡± Clicking his heels with a sarcastic and lazy salute. Her tinkling laughter filled the room, ¡°Ahh, before I forget Harry, this is Healer Paul Smithwick. He was the specialist I mentioned before. Doing some things mixing magical and muggle methods of physical recovery. Marvelous results too!¡± ¡°Pleasure to meet you sir.¡± Harry said, walking over to him to offer a handshake. ¡°The pleasure is all mind Mr. Potter. If you don¡¯t mind me asking how are you feeling?¡± ¡°Sore all over, though I don¡¯t know why¡and I¡¯m hungry again. Even though I ate so much earlier!¡± Harry responded, wincing at the reminder. ¡°Hmm, seems the Hunter Rite gave you a bit of a leg up then. Matches the results from our diagnostics too. We will have to start him on a heavy calorie diet with hunger and nutrient enhancers.¡± Healer Smithwick said. ¡°I¡¯ve also started working on the wizarding version of ¡®Growth shakes¡¯. My little rip-off of the protein shakes the Muggle bodybuilders are so fond of. Tastes¡subpar if I¡¯m honest, but the results have been outstanding.¡± ¡°Hope you don¡¯t mind taking these as part of your treatment?¡± ¡°Sir, if you say it¡¯s good for me, who am I to argue? I¡¯m neither Doctor nor Healer, in this regard I¡¯m coming to you with advice, what is the best thing I can do and is there anything I can do to speed up the process?¡± ¡°Quite frankly, I want to slow it down. I¡¯m not sure if you¡¯ve noticed but you¡¯ve started growing an incredible amount already. You can even see your ankles between your trousers and socks. Your sleeves are half an inch short too.¡± ¡°Damn, so that¡¯s why I was feeling cold!¡± The healer chuckled in response, ¡°Yes, quite. Now is there anything else that you¡¯ve noticed? Anything at all, no matter how weird it sounds.¡± ¡°Umm, well I did notice that my vision was slightly less blurred and that I was seeing some weird colours. Not sure how else to describe it.¡± The two healers exchanged a long look, ¡°Interesting, so you may have some improved form of vision. That¡¯s a great trait to gain, Harry!¡± Poppy exclaimed. ¡°We¡¯ll just have to give it some time for it to manifest properly. Though it is a little concerning how quickly you¡¯re growing. We need to get more protein and vitamins in you ASAP!¡± ¡°Why don¡¯t you ask Dobby to help you out? That way you can eat while we talk over your results?¡± ¡°Sounds great, Dobby!¡± Harry said quietly, ¡°Would you mind getting me a meal my friend? Would love something with salad or al dente mixed veg on the side mate. OK?¡± ¡°Of course Master Harry. Back in a wink!¡± POP! ¡°Right, is there anything else new from your scans I need to worry about?¡± ¡°Nothing new¡¡± Healer Smithwick trailed off. ¡°But it does concern me, doing some of the deeper scans of your Mana levels, it seems that you¡¯re experiencing three sources that are draining you one is dobby, one is your scar, the other is¡ unknown.¡± Unauthorized usage: this narrative is on Amazon without the author''s consent. Report any sightings. ¡°It¡¯s low enough that we shouldn¡¯t be concerned but we do want to get on top of it. You¡¯ve had a rough start, so we want to get you back on track alright, Harry?¡± Poppy babbled, trying to put Harry at ease. Harry shrugged in response, ¡°The only other thing I can think of is those Blood wards that Dumb-ass-door keeps harping on about. Though you did mention something about getting a cursebreaker and curse specialised healer in to see me yeah?¡± ¡°B-b-blood wards?¡± Poppy stuttered, her face slowly flushing red. ¡°Are you sure?¡± ¡°Sure? No. It¡¯s the only thing I can think of though.¡± A dark look crossed Healer Smithwicks face. ¡°Right. That does it. I¡¯m going to talk to Amelia about this. This cannot be borne. I refuse. This child is either leaving this school or Dumbledore is. This is a god''s damned nightmare!¡± ¡°Tell me about it.¡± Poppy said, a flat tone to her voice. Trying not to scare Harry. ¡°Right, moving on, so you¡¯re going to be spending most of your time eating and doing some work-outs, Harry. Healer Smithwick was kind enough to bring me some small books and leaflets on what equipment will be needed and how to set up a good routine for yourself.¡± ¡°With Dobby¡¯s help we can even create a room for you just outside the Hospital ward to make it easy to access, though the long run and obstacle course will still have to be around the Black Lake.¡± ¡°That¡¯s all we can do for now until we see those two other specialists. Healer Smithwick said he would be by every other day to see how you¡¯re getting on so we can adjust your potions and physical regimen to suit your fastly growing body.¡± Poppy finished her update. Still trying her best to remain calm. ¡°That¡¯s right, it¡¯s important that you make a note of anything that you notice off with your body, OK? Balance, hearing, vertigo, taste¡it could be minor or major. Just keep me updated even if you think it¡¯s nothing important ok? I can¡¯t help you if I don¡¯t know anything about it.¡± Said a laughing Smithwick, trying to inject some levity back into the conversation. ¡°You¡¯re going to be in for a wild summer Mr. Potter!¡± He exclaimed, ¡°A grand finish to your second year I promise.¡± Smithwick finished with a roguish grin which put Harry at ease. ¡°My thanks to you both, I promise I¡¯ll work hard so your work doesn¡¯t go to waste.¡± Poppy cut in, making it clear that they had more to discuss, ¡°Now, why don¡¯t you go outside and talk to ¡®Mione for a bit Harry? Have your food out there. Shouldn¡¯t be long now.¡± ¡°Sounds like a plan Poppy, you¡¯ll bring me my potions soon?¡± Harry asked. ¡°Of course! Start off with this hunger enhancer so we can get a second meal to accompany your potions at nine o¡¯clock, alright?¡± She stood, handing me a potion before shooing Harry out of the door. As Harry walked back to his friend deeper in the ward, he waved a quick hello at Kingsley Shacklebolt, calling out a quick greeting. ¡°Hey Shacks, good to see you.¡± Which left the disillusioned Shacklebolt at a loss. Whispering quietly, ¡°Hey there kid.¡± Shacks was confused and wondering whether he had even cast his standard invisibility kit of spells, he recast everything just in case. No one was to know that Harry was getting favours other than Poppy. He¡¯ll have to mention this to the boss though, it¡¯s a big mistake to make. Especially as a Senior Auror! Harry missed all of Shack''s confusion making his way to the back of the ward where the long term patients stayed. He knew the Hospital wing like the back of his hand now, so he made a beeline for ¡®Mione¡¯s bed. It always brought a few tears to his eyes to see her like this, so still and alone. Before the excitement of the past few days he was in here for all of his free time without fail. Considering the whole school considered him persona non grata it wasn¡¯t a hard sacrifice to make. Better being with his petrified friend than spend time with fickle humans that thought the worst of him. Taking the nearest seat to the bed, he started talking. At first it was just inane small talk, while he settled down. Then it got serious, he talked about his feelings, how he felt different after waking up after his trip to the chamber. How he made some new adult friends, how even the adults in the school were treating him differently know with the ¡®secret¡¯ of his child abuse was out there. Considering Dumb-dumb-door was responsible for most by proxy if not directly, as was the case with the Philosopher''s stone. He told her everything. Unloading everything that was bugging him, using her still form as a sounding board for everything that he was thinking of doing and wondering what she would think about leaving Hogwarts behind. Whether she would blame him or join him. Harry even mentioned some of the stories about his parent¡¯s and what he had recently found out about his fathers family. How they were an old bloodline of Wizards and Witches that could trace their heritage back to before the dawn of the Roman Empire. It was a surprisingly cathartic thirty minutes for young Harry. Getting all that emotion off his chest, even wincing at the expected ¡®beatings¡¯ he was going to receive for, as ¡®Mione put it, his saving people thing. Though he didn¡¯t do it deliberately this time with Ginny, he definitely went out of the way to assist Dobby. Even going so far as to tort-, I mean goad, the head of a Venerable House. Probably wasn¡¯t the wisest thing, but considering the state of Dobby and what he had gone through? Harry believed it completely Justifiable. It was towards the end of this rant that Dobby showed up, dressed once more in a shabby pillow case. Harry frowned at the sight, sad at his appearance. ¡°Dobby, how are you at making clothes? Before you get scared, I¡¯m not offering you clothes to free you from service buddy. I¡¯m just wondering if you would like to make your own uniform?¡± Harry asked kindly. Dobby was gobsmacked. ¡°Y-y-you would buy me clothes?¡± ¡°Of course buddy, you¡¯re family. I want you to look good. Since you are part of House Potter now, I want you to show everyone how well I treat people who are loyal to me.¡± He explained slowly. Necking in his disgusting potion, Harry got stuck in while Dobby thought it over. ¡°T-t-to be honests with you Master Harry Sir, Dobby isn¡¯t the best with a needle.¡± He said sorrowfully, twisting his ears in distress. ¡°Not to worry then Dobby, is there any way I can ask you to access my vault on my behalf? Or perhaps you can get some money out of my trunk and ask Madam Malkins to make a uniform with my family crest on for you? Would that work?¡± ¡°But that would be more expensive for Master Harry Sir.¡± he cringed back in fear. ¡°Enough of that now bud, I don¡¯t harm my family.¡± Harry said firmly. ¡°Please ask her for a butlers uniform with a gold sash and a crest on its breast. Black with red trim, and a grey or charcoal shirt to match. Three sets so you have enough to stay presentable. Ok buddy?¡± Harry asked, ¡°Does that sound ok? Or do you think you would need some more?¡± ¡°No, NO! That is already very generous Master Harry. T-t-thank you!¡± ¡°You¡¯re very welcome Dobby, now if you wouldn¡¯t mind going up and grabbing that money with some extra clothes for me to change into tomorrow? Oh and some PJ¡¯s too, I¡¯m not a fan of the Hospital wards sleep wear.¡± ¡°Right away sir!¡± Said Dobby, saluting smartly. A quick pop and he was off running errands for his ¡®Master Harry Potter Sir¡¯. Just in the nick of time too, judging by the click clack of a multiple of footsteps. Although he wasn¡¯t ashamed of Dobby, he could already tell that there was an added edge he could use just by ¡®owning¡¯ for lack of a better word, a house elf. Coming around the privacy screen even as Harry was digging into his first evening meal, was his favourite diminutive Professor¡and his least favourite human on the planet. Snape. ¡°Well ain¡¯t this going to be fun.¡± Harry muttered with a scowl.
