《DEVIANTS》
DEVIANTS
INTRODUCTION
A vast continent with floating islands, deep dungeons, and forgotten ruins. Magic is controlled by ancient elemental cores, but our squad has unique abilities beyond the norm.
A massive empire rules most of the land, but rebel factions and underground guilds fight for control.
Technology exists, but it''s powered by magic.
The empire hunts down "Deviants" (aka people with unnatural powers like ours).
We were just naturally born different.
The emperor seeks the "God Fragment", a mythical artifact that could erase or amplify all abilities. The rebels want our help, but can we trust them?
CHARACTER INFO
MC1 (Vael) - (Cognitive & Pyro, Time management): The strategist & combat powerhouse¡ªliterally reading enemies'' moves while setting them ablaze.
MC2 (Alaric) - (Illusions & Probability): The trickster & wildcard¡ªmaking enemies see fake battles while forcing fate to our favor.
MC3 (Jett) - (Electromancer & Speedster): The assassin-type¡ªlightning-fast strikes, controlling tech.
MC4 (Orion) - (Beast Tamer & Elemental Shifter): Our wild card¡ªcan turn into legendary beasts & control nature.
MC5 (Lucan) - (Blood Magic & Life Steal): The healer with a dark twist¡ªheals us, but drains others to do it.
MC6 (Elias) - (Energy Absorption & Astral Projection): The one who turns the tide¡ªsucks up attacks, fights on multiple planes.
A TWIST
One of us has a secret connection to the emperor (exiled royal? Created by him? Former ally? Or....a conflict in the past?)
The God Fragment is actually sentient and whispering to one of us¡ªbut who? And ..... will that person betray us?
ORIGIN OF OUR POWERS
Long ago, there was a celestial anomaly¡ªa rift in the sky called the Astralis Veil. This rift opened for exactly one night and bathed the world in an unknown energy. Most people dismissed it as a beautiful phenomenon, but a handful of children born under the Astralis Veil awakened with abilities beyond normal magic. We are those children.
The empire fears that our powers are "unstable" and "unnatural", so they label us as Deviants. An Imperial Research Division (IRD) has been secretly hunting down Deviants for experiments, brainwashing, or execution. They believe that if left unchecked, we could surpass the gods themselves. Some nobles and rebels want to weaponize us, while others believe we should be eliminated entirely.
Each of us starts alone, thinking we''re the only one with these abilities. Some of us might be hiding, some captured, and others on the run. But then¡ªsomething changes. A sudden celestial event¡ªlike a second Astralis Veil opening¡ªcauses all of us to sense each other''s presence for the first time. It''s like a mental pull, a signal in our minds.
THE EMPIRES MISTAKE
The Imperial Research Division had NO IDEA we existed in such numbers. But when the event happens, their tracking devices go haywire, detecting multiple Deviants at the same time. They panic¡ªand in their desperation, they accidentally force us together by chasing us into the same location.
FIRST MEETING
Some of us think the others might be enemies at first.
Some want to work alone and refuse to trust anyone.
Others instantly recognize that we''re stronger together and try to unite us.
Meanwhile, the empire is closing in fast, forcing us to make a split-second decision: fight or run? Vael : "We can argue later. MOVE."
Vael: "If we stay, we die. If we run, we have a chance. So MOVE."
Jett: "Where? We''re trapped¡ª"
Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.
Vael: "Not if we make our own way out."
Someone amongst the crowed activated his power. It was Orion ( elemental shifter)
Orion: Let''s go
Then BOOM¡ªwe break through, barely making it out alive.
The wind roared past as our feet pounded against the dirt, urgency tightening in our chests. The city''s alarm bells screamed in the distance, the empire''s soldiers no doubt scrambling after us.
Vael: "Run first, talk later!"
One person was already a blur, lightning crackling faintly in his wake as he sprinted ahead, scanning for a safe place to hide. The rest of us followed, dodging between alleyways, our breaths heavy with the weight of the situation.
Elias: "Where is that crybaby?"
Lucan: "Hopefully not caught."
A flicker of movement¡ªJett reappeared, barely winded, gesturing towards a rundown building at the end of the street.
Jett: "There. Basement level. Looks abandoned, should be safe¡ªif we move NOW."
No hesitation. We darted inside, one by one, ducking into the shadows as the distant sound of boots grew louder. The last one in, Elias, slammed the door shut behind us.
Silence. Only the sound of our rapid breathing filled the space.
Alaric: "Okay... What. The hell. Just happened?"
Vael: "That''s what we''re about to figure out." I turned, scanning the room, eyes narrowing. "Starting with who exactly all of you are."
Tension settled between us. None of us had asked for this¡ªbut now, we were in it together.
The group sat in tense silence, the weight of their situation pressing in on them. The empire was still hunting them, and trust was thin. Finally, Lucan exhaled sharply, breaking the silence.
Lucan: "I never knew there were these many Deviants like me... I thought I was the only one."
Elias: "Clearly not." His arms were crossed, gaze scanning the others. "But since we''re all stuck together, let''s cut the mystery act. Who the hell are you people?"
A brief pause. Then, Vael stepped forward, his stance sharp but controlled, like he was already analyzing every detail of the group.
MC1: "I''m Vael and my abilities are Cognitive Manipulation and Pyrokinesis."
I raised a hand, and blue flame sparked to life in my palm, but the real flex the others saw was in my eyes¡ªsharp, calculating, like I was already predicting the next ten steps.
Jett: "You read minds or something?"
Vael: "Not exactly. I read patterns. Your movements, your intentions¡ªyour next move before you even know it. And if I don''t like what I see? Well..." My fingers snapped, and the blue flame roared higher, and burnt the leaves on the ground. "You get the idea." "These flames right here may burn you to death but at the same time may freeze you to death too."
Jett let out a low whistle. "Noted."
He stepped up next, electricity crackling at his fingertips.
Jett: "I''m Jett. Electromancer and Speedster."
To demonstrate, he blurred forward, appearing behind Vael in a blink.
Jett: "Fast enough to dodge whatever you throw at me. And if you rely on tech to fight me? Good luck¡ªbecause I am the tech."
Orion chuckled, stepping forward.
Orion: "That''s cute. But let me show you something real."
He took a deep breath, and in an instant, his form shimmered. For a split second, the silhouette of a massive beast loomed over them before fading away. The air around them shifted, responding to his presence.
Orion: "Beast Tamer and Elemental Shifter, Orion. If I want, I become the predator. And nature? Well..." He smirked as a gust of wind kicked up around him. "It listens to me."
Lucan let out a low laugh.
Lucan: "Damn. You all make me look lame."
He rolled up his sleeve, revealing dark veins pulsing beneath his skin.
Lucan: "Blood Magic and Life Steal." To prove his point, he pressed a hand to his own arm¡ªwhere a small cut had been. It healed instantly.
MC5: "I heal. But at a cost." He tilted his head, smirking. "Lucky for you guys, I only drain enemies. Usually. My name''s Lucan."
Alaric scoffed.
Alaric: "Creepy. But effective."
He flicked his wrist, and the entire room flickered, distorting for a moment before snapping back.
MC2: "I''m Alaric. Illusions and Probability Manipulation is my expertise."
His grin was sharp. "I make people see what I want them to see... and make fate itself bend to my favor."
Elias raised an eyebrow.
Elias: "You rig luck?"
Alaric smirked. "I own it."
Elias exhaled, finally stepping forward.
Elias: "Then I guess I''m the last one.
Im Elias. My ability is Energy Absorption and Astral Projection."
To demonstrate, he raised a hand as Vael flicked out a small ember of fire. Before it could hit him, it disappeared¡ªsucked into Elias''s palm.
Elias: "Whatever you throw at me, I can take. And I don''t have to be here to fight you." His body flickered for a second before his form separated¡ªone standing, the other a translucent projection moving around the room.
Vael: "Useful."
Jett chuckled, shaking his head. "Alright, so basically, we''ve got a human lie detector, a lightningfast hacker, a shape-shifting beast whisperer, a blood-sucking healer, a reality-warping gambler, and a walking energy battery. Sounds like a party."
He crossed his arms, glancing at the others. "But the real question is... now that we know who we are¡ªwhat the hell do we do next?"
I glanced around at the group, eyes sharp.
Vel: "First, we need information. The emperor wasn''t expecting this many Deviants. That means we have an advantage¡ªthey dont know what we''re capable of."
Alaric smirked, leaning against a rock. "And I assume you have a plan, oh fearless leader?"
I ignored the sarcasm. "We need to find out why the emperor is hunting us. What do they know that we don''t? And more importantly..." I paused, my voice turning serious, "how do we take them down?"
Lucan cracked his knuckles, the air around him shifting slightly.
"First step, we need a way inside the empire''s records. That means breaking into one of their data hubs."
Jett grinned, electricity sparking between his fingers. "Finally, something fun."
DEVIANTS PART-2
THE HEIST PLAN DISCUSSION
Vael: Arms crossed "Alright. We need to hit the Imperial Data Hub, pull the files, and get out before they even know we were there. We do this fast and clean."
Alric: Leans against the table "Fast and clean? Do you even know us?"
Jett: Cracks knuckles "Let''s focus. Security''s tight, but I can shut down their systems for a sevenminute window if I overload the main power grid. That means we have seven minutes to get in and out before emergency backups kick in."
Orion: Shifting into a falcon briefly "I''ll scout from above and keep watch. If things go south, I can cause a distraction¡ªmaybe turn into something... terrifying."
Lucan: Grins "I can handle any injuries we pick up, but if I''m draining someone, it''s for a good reason. Just saying."
Elias: Fidgeting with a small energy orb "I can suppress the security field sensors so we don''t immediately set off alarms... but I can''t hold it forever."
Vael: Nods "Alright. Here''s the breakdown¡ª"
This book''s true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.
Jett will infiltrate first, disable the security systems, and download the data. Elias will suppress detection systems, buying us time. Alaric will cast illusions to cover our entry and exit routes. Orion will be the scout & backup muscle if things go wrong. Lucan stays close to heal & weaken guards if needed. And I leads the attack if it comes to a fight.
Vael: Smirks "If anything goes wrong, we regroup at the west alley. No hesitation. Understood?"
Alarick: Mock salutes "Aye, aye, captain."
Jett: Grins "Alright, let''s steal from the empire."
THE HEIST
Jett sneaks ahead, disabling surveillance for a short window. Vael and Alaric coordinate a distraction. Orion scouts as a bird while Elias enters the base undetected.
The members infiltrate the base.......
Lucan incapacitates a guard without killing, keeping their presence hidden while Elias absorbs security energy to keep alarms offline. Vael and Jett slip inside while Alaric creates false movements outside to mislead guards. They reach the main terminal, and Jett starts decrypting files.
And that''s when they had a firm grasp of what''s going on. The files reveal a secret project: ''THE EMPEROR HAS BEEN EXPERIMENTING ON DEVIANTS TO ARTIFICIALLY CREATE MORE'' .
He wanted to conquer the regions using these Deviants and become an ultimate king.
Before they can process everything, an alarm goes off¡ªthey''ve been compromised. They need to fight their way out OR trigger an emergency escape plan.
Right before they escape, they hear a chilling message through the speakers: "You really thought I wouldn''t be expecting you?" ¨C The Emperor knows they''re here.
DEVIANTS PART 3
THE GREAT ESCAPE
Setting: Imperial Data Hub ¨C Alarms blaring, red warning lights flashing, soldiers mobilizing.
Jett frantically downloads the remaining files, their fingers flying across the terminal.
Vael glances at the entrance. "We need to move. NOW."
Alaric curses. "I thought we were stealthy!"
Orion shifts into a falcon, scouting ahead.
Elias clutches their head. "The security field is regenerating¡ªI can''t keep it down much longer!"
The members hurriedly tries to find an emergency escape plan.
Lucan (Blood Magic) grabs a fallen guard and extracts just enough life energy to heal Jett''s injuries from an earlier scuffle.
Alaric flickers their fingers, casting illusions of themselves running in all directions to confuse the incoming guards.
Vael blasts open a side wall with fire, revealing a narrow underground tunnel.
Jett (Speedster mode) grabs the downloaded drive and yells, "RUN!"
As they dive into the tunnel, the emperor''s elite guards begin the pursuit. Orion shifts into a shadow panther, carrying Lucan on their back for speed while Jett zaps the tunnel behind them, collapsing it to block pursuit. They run and run.
Jett on the lead. "Guys move your stupid good for nothing legs faster."
Alaric: "Fast and clean? Bullshit."
Vael: "But we did get quite the info. Whatever the reason is...... we must stop the emperor from doing this. Getting such powers in the hands of the empire is definitely going to be disastrous".
Elias: "If they desperately want the powers of Deviants why keep a bounty on us either way?"
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.
Vael: "That...I don''t know."
Alaric: "The hell do you know then?"
The empire was right behind them and were nearing them second by second.
Elias: "Can you all just shut up for now. I''m getting distracted."
Just when it looked like they''re done for, Elias uses Astral Projection and manipulates the light energy, causing a short blackout. At that time Vael and Alaric uses the distraction to create a fake explosion illusion, making it seem like they''ve been wiped out.
The team vanishes into the darkness.
POST HEIST
The team barely made it back, some injured, some exhausted, and some still buzzing from the adrenaline.
Setting ¡ªdimly lit basement, stolen data spread out on the table, heavy breathing, and the weight of their next move pressing down.
Jett: Slumping against the wall, panting "Okay... That was not part of the plan. We were this close to getting fried out there."
Lucan: Already healing Jett, voice dry "You''re welcome, by the way."
Vael: Calm but eyes sharp, scanning the stolen files "We got what we came for. Now, let''s see what the empire has been hiding."
Elias: Cracking knuckles, grinning "Bet you a week''s worth of rations it''s worse than we thought."
Alaric: Leaning back, exhausted but intrigued "If we actually stole classified data on Deviants... we just became the empire''s biggest nightmare."
We huddle around, flipping through stolen files, scrolling through encrypted data, and then¡ªbam.
Orion: Brows furrowing, pointing at a document "Hold on. What is this?"
Vael: Reading aloud, voice tense "Project Zenith... The Empire''s master plan for total Deviant control."
Jett: Narrowing eyes "They aren''t just hunting us. They''re breeding Deviants."
Elias: Jaw tightening "They''re creating artificial Deviants... but it gets worse."
Alaric: Stunned, gripping the table "Some of them... already exist. And guess what? They don''t even know they''re experiments."
Lucan: Quiet, voice sharp as a knife "Which means... there could be more like us. Hidden. Monitored. Waiting to be activated." The stolen documents are scattered across the floor. The air is thick with tension.
Jett: Pacing, arms crossed "We can''t move recklessly. The Empire knows about us now."
Vael: Leaning against the wall, deep in thought "Laying low doesn''t mean doing nothing. We need to figure out how much they know."
Alaric: Scoffs, flipping through a file "They know enough to label us threats. That''s bad enough."
Lucan: Serious, voice low "If they have eyes on us, we need to figure out where those eyes are. Could be spies. Could be surveillance. Could be someone we know."
Elias: Exhales, arms crossed "Great. Now we have to worry about a mole on top of everything else?"
Orion: Calmly "It''s a possibility. But for now, we should stay put, blend in, and make sure we aren''t being tracked."
Vael: Nods, deciding ..."Fine. We lay low. But not for long. We still have work to do."
Jett: Smirking "We absolutely cannot let the mole have it''s own ways, can we?"
DEVIANTS PART 4
THE TRAP IS SET
The members laid low for a while just observing taking no action at all. During that time they came up with a plan to take down the spies and the emperor''s men.
Vael: Grinning, fire flickering between my fingers "Alright, change of plans. Instead of running like scared little rebels, let''s invite them over."
Jett: Gasps dramatically "Oh? Are we throwing a tea party for the empire now? Should I set the table, or are we skipping straight to the murder?"
Lucan: Deadpan "You''re skipping way too many steps in that sentence."
Orion: "Hold up, are we actually planning to let them find us? That''s the worst idea I''ve ever heard."
Vael: "No, no. We pretend to be careless. We let them think they''re the hunters when really¡ª" (grins wider) "¡ªthey''re walking straight into our lovely, warm embrace." (snaps fingers, fire sparks up)
Lucan: Raising an eyebrow "So, arson? Again? I swear, if I had a coin for every time you suggested burning something¡ª"
Elias: "You''d be rich, we get it. But Vael has a point. If they''re sending a spy, they''re expecting an ambush. What they won''t expect is us making them think they''ve won, right until the moment they lose."
Alaric: Rubbing hands together mischievously "Ohhh, I love psychological warfare. Let''s make them think they caught us, and then boom¡ªI make them see things that aren''t there, lead them into a fake victory lap."
Jett: "I''ll be our eyes. I can scout their movements and make sure we''re always a step ahead."
Orion (Elemental shifter): Grinning "And I may or may not have a few tricks up my sleeve. Say, an ''accidental'' vine snare? Or a very unfortunate sinkhole appearing right under their feet?"
Lucan: "And if any of them do manage to get close, well... I''m feeling charitable. I''ll give them a nice healing touch." (pauses) "By which I mean, steal their life force until they collapse."
Vael: "Good. We''ll stage an escape¡ªmake it look like we''re struggling, but in reality, we control every step. The moment they step into our ground..." (flames flicker dangerously) "Game over."
Elias: Leaning back, arms crossed "I gotta admit. This is kinda hot."
Alarc: Grinning at Vael "I know, right? You, me, and a little mind-trickery? Iconic duo."
Vael: Rolling eyes "Just don''t get carried away."
Alaric: Mock innocent "Me? Never."
Orion: "Okay, but who is actually going to be the bait?" (Everyone pauses.)
Alaric (pointing at Vael): "Flamethrower."
Lucan: "Agreed."
Jett: "Yeah, you are the most dramatic."
Vael (offended): "Excuse you, I am strategic¡ª"
Elias: "And dramatic."
This content has been misappropriated from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.
Orion: "And literally a walking explosion hazard."
Vael (grumbling): "Fine. But if I''m bait, I''m doing it in style."
Setting: The room is dimly lit, silent. The spy, cloaked in shadow, moves carefully through the abandoned warehouse basement where the members are supposedly hiding. He smirks¡ªhis information was correct. He inches forward... Then suddenly¡ªdarkness.
The air shifts. The walls stretch, twist, and distort. The floor beneath him vanishes. A cold whisper curls around his ear.
Spy: "W-what...?" A flickering light reveals figures¡ªpeople he once knew.
His superiors, the emperor''s guards... all of them staring at him with lifeless eyes. He tries to speak, but his voice fails. Then¡ªhe sees himself, standing before the emperor. The emperor''s eyes are filled with disgust.
Emperor (illusion): "You failed."
The spy gasps as his body is suddenly bound by unseen chains, dragging him to his knees. Shadows swirl, and out of the darkness, distorted versions of the Deviants step forward¡ªgrinning, taunting.
Alaric (Illusionist, whispering): "Welcome to your worst nightmare."
The spy screams. Meanwhile, the real Deviants stand outside, watching him from a safe distance, arms crossed as he f lails around on the ground like a possessed man.
Lucan: "I love when they break this fast."
Jett: Unimpressed "Honestly, this is just embarrassing."
Vael: Smirking "Alright, let him stew for a little longer. Then we talk."
THE SPY FALLS, THE FIGHT BEGINS
The empire''s spy is lost in his illusion¡ªhis worst nightmares playing out before his eyes. He screams, stumbling back, gripping his head like he''s trying to claw his way out of his own mind. But the members don''t have time to enjoy the show. The moment the spy falls, his backup soldiers burst in. At least ten of them, fully armed, their eyes scanning for threats.
Empire Soldier: "Ambush! Protect the informant!" Weapons are drawn. The air crackles with tension. Then¡ª
Jett: "I got the fast ones." In a flash, Jett is gone¡ªzipping between enemies with electric speed, disarming two before they can even react. Sparks fly as they collapse.
Orion: Grinning "You all forgot to bring fireproof gear." They slam their foot down, and the floor erupts¡ªstone twisting like vines, fire bursting from the cracks, sending two guards flying.
Lucan (Blood Mage): Smirking "Oops. Guess your injuries are mine now." With a flick of their wrist, crimson tendrils lash out, draining the life from a soldier mid-swing. They collapse, pale and weak.
Vael: "Enough playing around." I snapped my fingers and¡ªwhoosh! Flames exploded around them, creating a wall that blocks off the last few enemies, forcing them into a tight formation.
Alaric (Illusionist) steps in, cracking their knuckles.
Alaric: "Alright, boys. Your friend is already lost in his worst nightmare. You wanna take a turn, or you wanna start talking?"
The remaining soldiers hesitate. They exchange glances. Some step back. The fight drains out of them.
Elias (Energy Absorption): Leaning against the wall "Clock''s ticking, fellas. Make a choice." The soldiers drop their weapons.
The spy, still trapped in his illusion, finally collapses unconscious.
Vael: "Well. That was fun."
FLAMES OF BETRAYAL
The spy who was unconscious up until few moments ago is still shaken from the illusions, coughs and kneels before the members.
Spy: "You all... you don''t even realize what you''re capable of."
The group watches him warily.
Spy (smirking weakly): "You think you''ve mastered your powers? You''ve barely scratched the surface. The empire has always known... Deviants evolve. You just need a push."
Orion: "What nonsense are you spewing right now."
Spy: "I''ll help you guys. I''ll tell you where the emperor is right now."
Jett: "And why exactly would you do that? What if it''s just one of your tricks?"
Spy: "Because I believe you all are stronger than the emperor."
The members reached the empire with the spy''s help. They fought with many other Deviants who were guarding the emperor''s room.
The fight is brutal. The emperor has other Deviants under his control¡ªones forced into servitude, their powers twisted against their will. But the six stand together. They fight, they win
. After a battle with the guarding deviants the members rush towards the emperor. A tense battle between them. The throne room is in ruins. The emperor, breathing heavily, staggers, bloodied but standing. He chuckles, wiping his mouth.
Emperor: (Grinning) "Do you think you''ve won?"
The members glance at each other.
They don''t reply. Victory seems so close. But then¡ª
A flicker of blue flame.
Elias''s eyes widen.
The others turn¡ª
Vael''s hand is raised, wreathed in those blue flames. And before anyone can react¡ª
A burst of blue flame engulfs Elias.
The flames swallows Elias whole.
The last thing they see is Vael''s cold expression as the fire rages.
DEVIANTS PART-5
Vael¡¯s PAST: THE EMPEROR¡¯S GREATEST MISTAKE
The world was cruel long before I learned what cruelty truly meant.
Born with nothing but the flames in my hands and a mind sharper than any blade, I grew up in the slums¡ªstarving, stealing, surviving. The empire didn¡¯t care about nameless orphans like me. They never did. But the emperor? The emperor found me.
A man draped in gold and power extended a hand. ¡°You don¡¯t belong in the filth. Come with me, child. I will give you a purpose.¡±
For the first time, I thought I was safe.
At first, the palace felt like paradise. Food, warmth, knowledge¡ªthings I never had before. The emperor treated me like a prot¨¦g¨¦, a chosen one. I was given a room in the grand halls, dressed in silks, trained in combat, strategy, and governance. I was meant to be the emperor¡¯s right hand. Or so did, I think.
Then one night, the truth came in chains and fire.
Strapped to a cold metal table, I woke to needles piercing my skin, my head pounding with an unbearable force. The emperor loomed above me, eyes glinting with something far colder than before.
¡°I was right about you. You are different.¡±
That night, the experiments began.
For weeks, I was torn apart and stitched back together, forced to endure pain beyond reason. The emperor''s goal was clear¡ªextract my power, steal it, or break me entirely. But something happened that even the emperor didn¡¯t expect.
Instead of losing my gift, my power evolved.
From the ashes of my suffering, Time Management awakened. I didn¡¯t just control fire anymore. I could manipulate time itself. The emperor realized his mistake too late.
And that¡¯s when I made a choice.
The emperor believed he could control me. He tried to bind me with a spell, a failsafe, a leash to keep me obedient. But what the emperor didn¡¯t know¡ªwhat no one knew¡ªwas that I had another ability.
Cognitive Manipulation.
The spell never worked on me. Not even once.
But I pretended it did.
For years, I played the role of the emperor¡¯s most devoted soldier, waiting for the perfect moment. Waiting for my chance to escape.
And when the opportunity came, I vanished.
Now, standing before the emperor again, flames curling in my palm, I was no longer a lost child. I was a weapon sharpened by betrayal, a storm waiting to be unleashed.
This time, I wasn¡¯t running.
This time, I was ending this.
Vael AND Elias¡¯S SECRET MEETING
Hours before when the spy extended his support to the members, Vael pulls Elias aside. The others are busy going over the stolen documents.
Elias: "Alright, let¡¯s hear it. You clearly have something planned."
Vael: Glances at the others, lowering my voice "I need you to fake your death."
Elias: Raises an eyebrow "Excuse me? You want me to just drop dead? Great plan."
Vael: "It¡¯s the only way to get close to the emperor. If he believes I killed you, he¡¯ll think I¡¯ve sided with him. I need him to trust me."
Elias: Crosses arms "And what exactly is your endgame? You knew the emperor was experimenting on Deviants, so why did you make us go after the documents? You already knew everything, didn¡¯t you?"
Vael: Pauses, voice calmer "I needed confirmation. There was one thing I wasn¡¯t sure of."
Elias: Narrows eyes "And what was that?"
Vael: Meets Elias¡¯s gaze "I had to know if he was still searching for me."
(Silence. Elias watches as Vael clenches his fists, flames flickering at his fingertips before disappearing.)
Elias: Scoffs "So this whole time, you weren¡¯t just leading us to the empire¡¯s secrets. You were leading us to your past."
Vael: Quietly "Yes."
(Elias exhales, shaking his head.)
Elias: "You¡¯re seriously something else, you know that? So, how do you want me to go down?"
Vael: Smirks slightly "Dramatically."
(Elias chuckles, then cracks his knuckles.)
Elias: "Alright, let¡¯s put on a show."
(Back in the emperor¡¯s grand chamber, Vael stands before the throne, flames flickering in his hands. The other members, wounded but ready, face him with disbelief and anger.)
Emperor: Smirks, seated on his throne ¡°Well? What are you waiting for? Finish them.¡±
Vael: (expression unreadable, eyes dark as I raised my burning hands)
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.
Lucan: Shouting, furious ¡°I knew we shouldn¡¯t have trusted you!¡±
Jett: Gritting teeth ¡°You planned this all along, didn¡¯t you?¡±
Alaric: Shaking head in disbelief ¡°Was anything you said even real?¡±
(Vael doesn¡¯t respond. I lunged at them, flames roaring as the fight erupts.)
THE FIGHT BEGINS
Jett dashes forward in a flash of lightning, striking at Vael, but Vael narrowly dodges.
Lucan slashes at him with dark tendrils of blood magic, draining his energy bit by bit.
Orion summons a whirlwind, trying to push Vael back, but he resists, flames colliding against the storm.
Alaric creates dozens of illusions to confuse Vael, but somehow, Vael finds the real one and attacks.
(Blow after blow, Vael takes the hits but keeps fighting. He¡¯s powerful¡ªtoo powerful. But then¡ something feels off.)
Orion: Panting, frowning ¡°Wait a second¡¡±
Lucan: Breathing heavily, confused ¡°Why¡ Why isn¡¯t he using his full power?¡±
Jett: Eyes narrowing ¡°He could¡¯ve wiped us out with his flames by now.¡±
Alaric: Realization dawning, voice sharp ¡°Why is he holding back?¡±
(Just then, a soft shimmer appears in the air. A translucent figure flickers between them¡ªElias, his astral projection.)
Elias: Arms crossed, rolling eyes ¡°You idiots took long enough to realize. Yes, this is an act.¡±
(Elias¡¯s translucent figure smirks at the others, but the emperor¡ doesn¡¯t react. He doesn¡¯t see it. He still believes Vael¡¯s betrayal is real.)
Emperor: Grinning, leaning forward on his throne ¡°Hah! Look at you all, struggling against one of your own. How pathetic. This is why Deviants like you will never be more than tools.¡±
(Vael, still ¡®fighting¡¯ them, glances at the emperor. Good. He still doesn¡¯t suspect a thing.)
Jett charges in with another electrified strike, sparks flying as Vael dodges with precision.
Lucan feints an attack, pretending to go for a fatal strike, but Vael blocks it just in time.
Orion roars, summoning vines from the floor, trying to ¡®trap¡¯ Vael in place.
Alaric: (gritted teeth, still playing along) ¡°Damn it, he''s too strong! We have to take him down before he destroys us all!¡±
Vael: (eyes flashing, playing his part perfectly) ¡°You should¡¯ve known better than to trust me.¡± (throws a blast of fire toward Jett, who barely dodges.)
(To the emperor, it looks like an intense battle. To the members, it¡¯s a carefully crafted performance. Little did the emperor know that the members were talking inside their heads)
Elias: (voice echoing in their heads through astral projection) ¡°Alright, you guys keep this up a little longer. The emperor needs to be fully convinced. Vael, a bit more aggression to sell it.¡±
Vael: (mentally responding, smirking slightly) ¡°Oh, don¡¯t worry. I¡¯ll make it look very real.¡±
(With a battle cry, Vael sends a massive firestorm toward Lucan, who raises a blood shield just in time. The impact shakes the throne room. The emperor watches, delighted, still oblivious to the act.)
THE TURNING POINT
The entire throne room is bathed in flickering firelight. Smoke rises from the unconscious bodies of the members, sprawled across the marble floor. The emperor, standing triumphantly on the steps of his throne, laughs¡ªa deep, victorious laugh, full of arrogance and cruelty.
Emperor: Grinning, arms outstretched in triumph ¡°At last. At last! You see, Vael, this is how it was always meant to be. You at my side, the others beneath our feet.¡± (chuckles darkly) ¡°You were my creation. And yet, you tried to run. But look at you now¡ªright where you belong.¡±
(Vael, kneeling in front of the emperor, lowers his head slightly, his flames dimming. The emperor smirks, stepping closer, placing a hand on Vael¡¯s shoulder.)
Emperor: Soft, condescending ¡°Good. Very good. You''ve finally come to your senses. I knew you would.¡± (leans in slightly, whispering) ¡°After all, no matter how much you resist¡ you¡¯re mine.¡±
(Suddenly, flames burst to life around Vael, roaring and spiralling upward. The emperor stumbles back, eyes widening as the fire licks toward him.)
Emperor: Panic rising, voice trembling with rage ¡°You¡ªWhat do you think you¡¯re doing? Stop!¡±
(Vael stands, my eyes gleamed like molten gold in the fire¡¯s glow. I stepped forward, slowly, deliberately, as the emperor instinctively moves back.)
Emperor: Gritted teeth, voice turning sharp ¡°I command you! Obey me!¡±
Vael: Calmly, voice steady and unshaken ¡°¡The spell never worked to begin with.¡±
(The emperor¡¯s breath catches. For the first time in years, his hands tremble.)
THE FINAL STAND
The emperor¡¯s hands clench into fists as shadows move behind him. A group of elite Deviants¡ªhis personal enforcers¡ªstep forward, their eyes gleaming with suppressed power. Each of them is a force to be reckoned with, battle-hardened and trained to obey without question.
Emperor: Smirking, regaining his composure ¡°You think you can defeat me alone, Vael? How amusing.¡± (gestures behind him) ¡°Unlike you, I plan ahead. Did you truly believe I wouldn¡¯t have backup?¡±
The sound of shifting armour and crackling energy fills the air as the Deviants prepare for battle.
Emperor: Mocking ¡°I built you, trained you, taught you everything you know. But you are nothing compared to them.¡±
But then¡ a groan. A shuffle. A dramatic sigh from the other side of the room.
Orion: Stretching, sitting up lazily ¡°Man¡ I was really hoping to lie down for a bit longer.¡±
Lucan: Rolling his shoulders, cracking his neck ¡°You couldn¡¯t have wrapped this up yourself, Vael? I was actually comfortable.¡±
Jett: Glaring at Vael, crossing arms ¡°You idiot. You should¡¯ve told us your plan.¡± (huffs) ¡°I really thought you killed Elias.¡±
A voice suddenly cuts in from behind.
Elias: Smirking, leaning against a pillar ¡°Were you talking behind my back?¡±
The emperor¡¯s face twists in rage as he realizes¡ªhe¡¯s been played. The six stand together, side by side, power radiating from them like a storm ready to break.
Emperor: Furious, voice booming ¡°Then so be it! KILL THEM ALL!¡±
The final battle begins¡ªflames, lightning, illusions, and raw power exploding across the throne room as the ultimate fight for freedom unfolds. The six members against an empire that never saw them coming.
The members struggle, their breaths ragged, their bodies aching from the relentless battle. The emperor¡¯s Deviants are ruthless, pushing them back with brutal efficiency. The members, already weakened from the earlier fight, begin to falter.
Lucan: Panting, wiping blood from their lip ¡°Damn¡ they¡¯re strong.¡±
Orion: Clutching their arm, struggling to stand ¡°I don¡¯t think I can push them any longer¡¡±
Vael sways slightly, exhaustion clear on his face.
Vael: Breathing heavily ¡°I fought one versus four against you guys¡ I¡¯m completely drained.¡±
Jett: Grinning despite the situation ¡°Well deserved, honestly.¡±
Suddenly, a low chuckle fills the throne room, and the emperor steps forward, his eyes gleaming with sadistic amusement.
Emperor: Mocking ¡°Tired already? Too bad¡ because my real weapon hasn¡¯t even come out yet.¡±
THE ULTIMATE WEAPON
The members turn to see a massive armoured figure stepping forward from the shadows, standing beside the emperor. Towering over them, its presence alone is suffocating¡ªit looks ten, no, a hundred times stronger than anyone they¡¯ve faced so far.
Its armour gleams ominously, thick and unbreakable, and the sheer pressure of its aura makes the air feel heavy.
Emperor: Smirking, extending his hand toward the figure ¡°Go, my little weapon. Bring them to me.¡±
The monstrous warrior moves¡ªfast. Too fast for something so huge. Before they can react, it slams into them like a wrecking ball, sending them all flying into a corner. They groan in pain, barely able to move.
Everything slows down. The members, battered and broken, realize¡ªthey can¡¯t win. Not like this. The fight was over before it even began.
The armoured figure steps forward to finish them off.
And then¡ª BOOM. Time bends, reality warps. A golden glow explodes outward as Vael, lying on the ground, forces himself up, blood dripping from his lips, eyes glowing with raw power.
DEVIANTS PART 6 (FINALE)
TIME MANAGEMENT: FULL ACTIVATION
Vael activates Time Management. But instead of reversing time¡ªhe does something else. He reaches into the past, pulling back the full strength of every member from hours ago, restoring them to their peak power while keeping the present intact.
Vael: Grinning weakly, voice dripping with defiance ¡°Thanks for this power, Emperor.¡±
With that, he erupts in a massive, blinding blue flame. The energy washes over the battlefield, reigniting every single member with their full strength.
The emperor stumbles back for the first time, eyes wide with confusion. The armoured figure hesitates as the members rise¡ªfully restored, their powers surging like a tidal wave.
Alaric: Grinning, illusions twisting the battlefield into a living nightmare for the enemies ¡°Ohhh man, this is going to be fun.¡±
Orion: Summoning a storm of nature, the ground cracking beneath their feet ¡°Let¡¯s finish this.¡±
Elias: Astral form shimmering, voices echoing as they fight across dimensions ¡°No more holding back.¡±
Together, they unleash their full strength¡ªfire, lightning, illusions, nature, astral, blood magic¡ª a cataclysm of power colliding with the emperor¡¯s forces. The battle is violent, explosive, and unstoppable.
As the members tear through the Deviants and destroy the armoured warrior, Vael stalks toward the emperor. Flames flicker around him, his eyes burning with something deeper than just power¡ªrage.
Vael: Voice low, trembling with emotion ¡°Do you remember?¡± (steps closer, flames crackling around him) ¡°Do you remember what you did to me?¡±
The emperor scoffs, trying to keep his composure, but there¡¯s a flicker of unease in his gaze.
Vael: Snarling, voice rising ¡°You took me in. You made me believe you were my saviour.¡±
The flames flare. Memories flash. The throne room distorts as Vael¡¯s voice fills the air.
A young boy , trembling in the emperor¡¯s grand halls, grateful for his kindness.
The first time he was strapped to a cold metal table, confused, terrified.
The sharp pain of the first experiment, the emperor¡¯s voice cold and detached.
The realization that he was never a son, never a student¡ªjust a test subject.
The agony of every failed experiment, every sleepless night, every scar left behind.
The moment he realized the spell meant to control him never worked. And the moment he decided to pretend it did.
Vael: Growling, eyes flashing dangerously ¡°You experimented on me. You tortured me. You wanted to strip me of my power, but instead¡ªyou made me stronger.¡±
Emperor: Voice shaking slightly, trying to regain control ¡°You owe me, you ungrateful wretch! I took you in, gave you shelter, gave you a purpose¡ª¡±
Vael: Voice cold, cutting through the emperor¡¯s excuses like a blade ¡°You didn¡¯t give me shelter. You put me in a cage.¡±
If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it''s taken without the author''s consent. Report it.
The flames around him surge, spiralling out like a storm. The emperor takes an instinctive step back.
Vael: Eyes narrowing, voice laced with fury ¡°You didn¡¯t give me a purpose. You used me. Tortured me. Turned me into your experiment.¡±
The emperor grits his teeth, summoning his own power. Dark energy swirls around him as he lunges at Vael, but Vael dodges effortlessly, stepping to the side as if he already knew the attack was coming.
THE FINAL BATTLE
The emperor lashes out with powerful bursts of dark magic, sending shockwaves through the throne room. Vael counters with streams of blue fire, dodging, weaving¡ªhis movements precise, his attacks relentless.
The battle is fast, brutal. Every hit they land shakes the ground, sending debris flying. The emperor may be powerful, but Vael is faster, smarter, angrier. He fights with every ounce of pain, every scar, every moment of suffering that led him to this point.
The other members, having just obliterated the emperor¡¯s Deviants and his monstrous armoured weapon, turn their attention to the throne. They see Vael locked in battle and immediately rush forward to help.
Jett: Grinning, electricity crackling around them ¡°Can¡¯t let you have all the fun, Vael.¡±
Orion: Transforming into a massive beast, voice a low growl ¡°Let¡¯s end this.¡±
The members unleash their full combined strength. Illusions twist the battlefield, lightning strikes, astral projections phase in and out, vines crack through the floor, and flames engulf the emperor¡¯s defences. He¡¯s strong, but he¡¯s being overwhelmed.
The emperor, now wounded and desperate, stumbles back, breathing heavily. Blood drips from his lips, his once pristine robes now burned and torn.
Emperor: Glaring, voice hoarse but defiant ¡°You think you¡¯ve won?¡±
(Vael doesn¡¯t respond. He lifts his hand, and the blue flames spiral into a massive firestorm, crackling with raw, unfiltered rage.)
Vael: Quietly, voice filled with finality ¡°This is for every Deviant you¡¯ve ever hurt.¡±
With one final strike, Vael hurls the massive inferno forward, engulfing the emperor in a blinding explosion of blue flames. The room shakes as the fire consumes everything.
When the flames finally fade, the emperor collapses to his knees, barely breathing. His body trembles, his energy drained. He looks up at Vael, his face a mixture of pain and¡ disbelief.
Emperor: Softly, almost to himself ¡°¡You were supposed to be mine.¡±
Vael steps forward, standing over the fallen emperor, his gaze cold, unyielding.
Vael: Whispers ¡°I was never yours.¡±
The emperor falls unconscious. The room goes eerily silent.
THE AFTERMATH
The members stand there, breathing heavily, taking in the reality of what just happened. The battle is over. The empire¡¯s reign of terror is over.
Lucan: Laughing breathlessly, wiping sweat from their brow ¡°Holy shit¡ We actually did it.¡±
Elias: Grinning, nudging Vael ¡°Took you long enough.¡±
Alaric: Scoffing, crossing their arms ¡°I don¡¯t know whether to punch you or thank you, Vael.¡±
Vael: Finally allowing himself a small, tired smirk ¡°How about both?¡±
The members exchange glances¡ then laugh. It¡¯s over. They¡¯ve won.
A NEW FUTURE
Alaric: Arms crossed, surveying the wreckage ¡°So what do we do now? Burn the whole damn empire down?¡±
Lucan: Shaking their head, exhaustion settling in ¡°That would make us no different from them.¡±
Elias: Smirking slightly ¡°Besides, Vael already took care of the burning part.¡±
Vael, who has been silent, steps forward. He looks down at the emperor¡ªthe man who once held power over him, the man who ruined so many lives. But now, he¡¯s just another broken figure lost in the ashes of his own greed.
Vael: Softly but firmly ¡°We don¡¯t need to burn anything down. The empire was built on his control. Without him, it¡¯s already falling apart.¡±
The members step outside the ruins of the imperial palace, looking out at the city beyond. The streets are filled with Deviants¡ªonce hunted, now standing together. Word of the emperor¡¯s defeat is already spreading like wildfire.
Jett: Watching the people, realization dawning on them ¡°They¡¯re looking at us¡¡±
Orion: Smirking, stretching their arms ¡°Well, yeah. We just took down the most powerful man in the empire. We¡¯re kind of a big deal now.¡±
Alaric: Rolling their eyes but smiling ¡°Great. And here I thought we¡¯d get to lay low after this.¡±
Elias: Grinning, glancing at Vael ¡°So, fearless leader¡ what¡¯s next?¡±
Vael looks at them all¡ªhis friends, his team, the people who fought beside him when no one else would. He takes a deep breath, a sense of peace finally settling in.
Vael: Smiling slightly, voice steady ¡°We rebuild.¡±
*THE END*
