《A NIght is alll I need》 Calm night ''Night comes for everyone even the unfortunate ones'' Night had spread its wings over the city which seemed to sleep for now. Most houses¡¯ lights had died out, the street nearly emptied and even stars couldn¡¯t be spotted in the far heaven. There must have been a reason why they decided to reside somewhere else. It was a chilly night and the wind carried the lingering smell of the day¡¯s work out the city. Despite the cold Dean only wore a grey t-shirt, ripped at some parts. His eyes were red and fighting the urge to stay open. His already nearly snow white face face was rough and paler from overwork. His black hair were in need of some washing just like his 3.days beard. Dean literary staggered down the street, always slightly evading the coming person. His destination wasn¡¯t sure at the moment. However, he suddenly came to a stop. There was a flickering lamp over his head, here and there revealing his dark expression. Although, the light over his head wasn¡¯t the one catching his attention. It was the warm glow coming from his right, a restaurant. Dean scratched his head. ¡®Well, it can¡¯t get any worse today! And damn¡¯, he scratched his head, ¡®I need a drink!¡¯ With these thoughts he entered the restaurant. He was immediately welcomed by warmness, not only coming from the light itself but also the cheerful people to his sides. Their shouting was deafening and their happiness contagious to the point that Dean managed a smirk. A brief one though, yet enough to lighten him. (Dean: Maybe it was a good idea coming here!) Most of the restaurant¡¯s seats were full. Dean¡¯s eyes directed forward. The bar¡¯s seats were bare. At the bar itself a broad man was standing and cleaning glasses. A wonder his hands even fit in them. Suddenly slow jazz music played from the radio at the windows and the light throughout the restaurant dimmed. With sagged shoulders and dropped head Dean strode towards the bar. As he took his seat the bartender gave him a look. And a quick inspection of the man followed. ¡®What may I serve you?, sir¡¯, he asked and placed the glass, he was just cleaning, down. ¡®A beer please!¡¯ The bartender nodded, took the glass and filled it with beer from the rooster just next to his right. While reaching the beer to Dean, he spoke: ¡®You must have a hard day today. You look shit and I mean, really shit. I¡¯ve seen many come and leave this restaurant and never one like you was here!¡¯ As Dean took his beer he replied: ¡®Hahah! Damn I must really look bad. Well, it is what it is. Yes, it was hard but when I think about my twin brother who¡¯s right now in war, I don¡¯t have the right to complain! Do I?¡¯ ¡®He¡¯s fighting in a war?¡¯ Yes!¡¯, Dean responded. ¡®He goes by Dae. A big figure, though he hides it. Only the people who survived against him in battles or fought alongside him will know of him.¡¯ (Dean: Well can¡¯t remember who ever lived after a fight against him!) Dean gulped half his beer down, posed it back and sighed. ¡®Well¡¯, he went through his hair twice, ¡®he¡¯s a great brother and helped me a lot. Sadly ¡ people always compared me to him and ¡ well! You know he is everything my parents every dreamed of and I am ¡ I am me, hahah! Only our appearance is the same.¡¯ ¡®Yes sucks!¡¯, the bartender agreed. ¡®But I just hope your brother comes back alive!¡¯ ¨C The resulting laugh of Dean was loud to the point even the others turned towards him. ¡®Don¡¯t worry about him, but rather about the people who¡¯ll face him!¡¯ Did you know this story is from Royal Road? The surrounding resumed their own chatter. ¡®And what¡¯s your story if I may know?¡¯, the bartender asked, filling his own glass with beer. Dean chuckled. ¡®Well, I¡¯ll give you a summary then. My life was already decided when my parents named me Dean. I mean Dean? Come on! I lost my job, my girlfriend cheated on me. Her new boyfriend beat me up and they stole my money. I have to pay the rent, but I¡¯m broke. Couldn¡¯t sleep the last days. Well, you see, I had my own share of problems. Hiss! I just need one good day, one moment then¡¯, he fastened his grip around the beer and squeezed his eyes shut, ¡®maybe then...¡¯ ¨C ¡®Then what?¡¯, the bartender inquired and Dean reopened his eyes slowly. ¡®I don¡¯t want to provoke you, but you¡¯re in deep shit my friend. I¡¯ll think you¡¯ll need more than a moment or a day to fix your problems. Both exchanged a brief look and gulped down their beer. ¡®Maybe you¡¯re right!¡¯, Dean uttered. ¡®Maybe not. I am ready to bet everything on this night! Whatever happens, I¡¯ll embrace that opportunity!¡¯ He rose his head high and the lamps above him bathed him in light. ¡®There isn¡¯t anything to lose anymore!¡¯ (Bartender: here is, your life!) Dean stared the man right into the eyes. The bartender¡¯s eyes were nearly black, like an abyss itself. Furthermore his skin was also dark, posing a deep contrast to his light hairs that looked like the mane of a lion. His build itself was also impressive. ¡®So¡¯, Dean began, ¡®what¡¯s your story?¡¯ ¡®Well, I go by Srark. Yes a weird name, I know. I spent my life on the streets, was part of gangs and so on. Well nothing to be proud of. But one day an old man found me half dead in an alley. He took me in and taught me everything he knew. He died some years ago and this restaurant is everything he left back. And I swore to take care of this restaurant and I will, no matter what comes!¡¯ Dean chuckled. ¡®I see, Srark! Seems like you got your own past! Well, at least you turned to someone fine. You own a restaurant and looking at all the people here having, it must be a good restaurant!¡¯ ¡®But what do think of this restaurant, Dean?¡¯ ¡®I had a smile on my face when I entered this restaurant. It might have been faint but it was a smile!¡¯ Dean took another gulp of his beer before he went on: ¡®I can feel it! This night will be different!¡¯ That¡¯s when the door opened and a woman stepped in. Beauty alone wasn¡¯t enough to describe her appearance and even if one searched for the fitting words, it would take far too long. She wore a long green dress stuck close to the body and a slit on the sites. Her blond hairs were long and smooth as fuck. The woman¡¯s green eyes gave a faint glow from them. The music was still playing, the light still dimmed, yet while the woman slowly headed for the bar, the lights around her went up and the music itself turned nearly silent. Everything turned back to normal when she took a seat, two seats away from the man. The surrounding¡¯s eyes were still fixed at her, Srark¡¯s eyes too, only Dean was focused on his beer. The woman turned around and immediately the surrounding gazed away. Then she turned her gaze to Srark who thereupon did the same. She puffed up her cheeks. Finally, her gaze stopped at Dean. She sighed slowly. When she coughed Dean turned towards her and their eyes met. That¡¯s when the woman inquired: ¡®Sorry mister, does the beer here taste good? (Bartender: Well mister, let¡¯s see how much you are willing to bet on this night!) This story has been unlawfully obtained without the author''s consent. Report any appearances on Amazon. Chapter 3: The Wargod has come <> Everywhere his eyes halted they met yelping comrades and dead ones, yet the dead ones could be considered lucky for the ones alive were left in a state one wouldn¡¯t want to be in. Trust me! Dae rose to his legs, compared to the others fine ¡ª Maybe just luck? He was wearing a dark green military suit, covered in dirt, sweat and blood, though, not his blood! The ground was wrecked likewise the cars and what was left of the inventor. Dae halted and as he began turning, he took a good view of his surroundings. ¡®Fuck!¡¯, he cursed. ¡®They got us good. We¡¯ ¡ª ¡®Sir!¡¯, a soldier camouflaged from his side. He had burns all over his body, yet managed to stay on his legs. And he even walked. ¡®What is it?¡¯, Dae, his eyes fixed at the radio set the soldier was carrying. Without waiting for a response, he stretched out his hand and the soldier handed him the device over. ¡®15min!¡¯, it came from the other line. ¡®Hold out 15min and help shall be t¡.¡¯ Dae waited for further instructions but the device was dead. ¡®15min!¡¯, a soldier bellowed. ¡®The enemy are approaching!¡¯, another soldier joined. ¡®Half our squad is dead, the other half on the blink of death and they want us to wait damn 15min?¡¯ The soldier smashed his fist on the ground while most of the other soldiers simply lowered their heads. Other clutched their wounds whereas some rolled together. Despite their different reactions, their expression formed in unique. An expression representing terror and despair. ¡®I can¡¯t die yet!¡¯, another soldier uttered. He was leaned against a boulder, one leg gone and his arms in a condition one would wish they were gone. Half his face was burnt away, the other side overflowing with tears. ¡®My wife and children. Huuuhuh!¡¯ He placed one hand on his face. Only Dae was standing right now. He was in the center of this chaos, taking up the pain of his fallen and despaired soldiers. Yes, only standing there demanded a lot of him. He might have been fine but he was sweating non-stop and his pulse was irregular. That man was tired! Yet, he was standing, tall and robust like a boulder. His hands formed to mighty fists and his expression hardened. He took a deep breath and as he exhaled all the stored-up air in one go, a bellow followed: ¡®Listen! No one shall die today!¡¯ His voice was strong and penetrated the air like a bullet and his soldiers one after the other rose their heads. And some even managed to get back to their feet. In this very moment the clouds made some place for the full moon whose light shone done on the group of soldiers. Yet the place where the moon shone the brightest was the very place where Dae was standing. He was boiling with confidence and this became clear when he started speaking. ¡®As long I¡¯m standing on my legs¡¯, Dae roared as his gaze flew over his comrades, ¡®no more people will die! I will take you to your families, friend, country, your home! So raise my soldiers! The battle is not over!¡¯ ¨C ¡®Hahahah!¡¯, an old man broke out in amusement. ¡®So, you¡¯re finally back, hero! Took you long enough!¡¯ Everyone started mumbling and exchanging staggered gazes. The old man went on: ¡®Young fellas, trust this man. If he says he¡¯ll take you home, he will! These eyes ¨C It¡¯s been a long time since I¡¯ve seen them, the eyes of our hero, the eyes of the Wargod himself!¡¯ And as if they felt no pain anymore, the eyes of the soldiers, likewise mouths widened. Some even jerked to their legs, ignoring the pain due to their great surprise! Everywhere the word Wargod resounded and excitement piled up. Despair vanished and hope rose. The dark faces brightened. Chapter 4: A new enemy <> Dae, standing in the center, rose one hand and silence returned. ¡®Haha, I thought people had forgotten about me¡¯, he noted and looked over to the old man with a broad smile. ¡®Seems like it wasn¡¯t the case!¡¯ He turned towards a high boulder, walked towards it as he spoke: ¡®We have 15min! Prepare yourself! When the support arrives, you¡¯ll join me on the battle field. In the meantime, take a break. I will hold them back!¡¯ ¨C ¡®Hold them back?¡¯, a soldier yelled. ¡®Alone?¡¯ ¨C ¡®Young fella!¡¯, the old man intervened. ¡®You remember the Great War 10 years ago? It was him who put an end to it! Let him do it!¡¯ The old man rose to his one remaining leg. ¡®And when the time comes, we shall fight alongside him. Am I not right ,Wargod?¡¯ Dae. He gazed towards the north, a big army approaching, their war cry closer than ever. The only thing that separated them from the army was a wasteland. There were bones, skulls and remaining remnants of soldiers. ¡®They are near!¡¯, Dae stated as he bent over to pick up some weapons. ¡®They sent some scouts. Well, they should have sent more if they had planned to ambush us!¡¯ Dae fastened grenades at his waist, put the guns on his back and he tucked the fitting munitions into the bags of his military green pants. And lastly, he fastened two daggers around his legs. ¡®Guys!¡¯, he uttered. ¡®I¡¯m off!¡¯ With the brightened eyes of his subordinated on his back, he strode forward, right into the wasteland. For his luck the ground was uneven and several boulders of different side protruded from the ground., perfect to use as cover. The man was out the reach of his men, inside enemy territory. Still, that could be considered his domain. ¡®I wonder what Dean is doing right now? Mom and dad? Well, after this night I will have my break!¡¯ He stared towards the sky and that¡¯s when he noticed it ¨C the moon. A part of the moon had turned crimson. ¡®The fuck?¡¯, Dae cursed. However, there was no time anymore to muse about that phenomenon. The first yell arose. ¡®First survive, then see what is up with the moon!¡¯ And the soldier whose this yell belonged too also showed up. Dae and the enemy met, yet, before one could make the first move, the light of moon slightly turned crimson, as if it had sucked in blood itself. The scarlet light shone over the battle filed. Right away, Dae put his weapons away and rose his arms. The other solder seemed lost for a moment and demanded: ¡®What are you doing?¡¯ He pointed his gun at Dae but his eyes kept wandering back to the moon. Dae gazed towards the moon as he gave his answer: ¡®I can feel it, something is coming! Something dangerous! I think it would be better to put the fight on a halt and try to find out what happened to the moon!¡¯ The soldier was still pointing his gun at Dae, ready to pull the trigger. ¡®Put the fight on a halt? Does this seem like a game to you?¡¯ (Dae : Damn! People these days have no instincts anymore. I can¡¯t be the only one feeling weird!) ¡®Look soldier¡¯, Dae called out, hands still up. ¡®I¡¯m sure you have heard of me once. People used to call me the Wargod!¡¯ This statement sent a shock to the soldier whose sweat wouldn¡¯t stop gushing down his pale face. His arms were shaking so much that he had difficulty pointing the gun at Dae or even holding it up. (Soldier: I am fucked! Why did I have to meet him? Why me?) Suddenly a hand came out of the ground right in the place between the two people And damn! Aside the table and the sitting person there was no one and nothing else in the broad white room. There were still some empty seats. One person started the conversation: ¡®And why have we gathered here, if I may ask. If I remember well, aren¡¯t my people right now fighting¡¯, he pointed at another woman, ¡®your people? Just know that if I don¡¯t contact my country every 10min they¡¯ll launch bombs at this place! So you better not try anything funny!¡¯ The woman to that man¡¯s side couldn¡¯t contain her mirth: ¡®Hahaha! First of all, at the worst case your soldiers aren¡¯t fighting but rather dying! I hope you didn¡¯t forget who your soldiers are fighting against, right? He¡¯s with them. The Wargod is with them!¡¯ This reveal sent a shock to everyone and above all to the man who had first spoken. They all knew too well what the Wargod had been capable of. A reason why there was so much peach, well let¡¯S say why there were less wars compared to the past was due to the Wargod. He was a menace on his own and people feared him. Well, at the end of the day the human¡¯s greed was too much and war still broke out. One man rose to his legs, attiring everyone¡¯s attention. He was one of the oldest in the room and so did his husky voice also sound: ¡®Please, no is not the time for this! We all gathered here to talk about two things. The first problem we noticed were these weird creatures!¡¯ Behind him a hologram appeared showing a creature. It looked like a human but, the eyes were crimson and bleeding. The human had rough skin, at some part the skin looked like stone even. The teeth had grown to fangs, the nails to crawls and the most eye-catching thing was the skin colour ¨C black. The human was about 2m tall. The people couldn¡¯t believe their eyes, however, before anyone could utter something, the old man went on: ¡®In the last year they kept appearing more and more and we got intel that they also appeared on the battlefield where the Wargod is. Well, it wouldn¡¯t be a problem if it were just one but there seems to be a great number hiding, underneath the ground. We already sent people there. They will kill these monsters and rescue our people¡¯ ¨C ¡®Our people?¡¯, a person asked confused. ¡®Since when are they our people?¡¯ The old man went through his grey hairs. Although his hairs were grey, his beard was white. And indeed, it could be seen that he was certainly older than most, yet the menacing and even slightly suffocating aura around him couldn¡¯t be hidden. He went on with a strong voice: ¡®Listen, guys. My guts tells me that something is coming. These monsters and now even the moon is turning red. Something is happening! I don¡¯t know why or what exactly, but I know one thing! If the countries don¡¯t come together to face whatever is heading our way, we will all die! That I am sure of! So you can keep playing like kids among yourselves or you shut up and listen! What will it be?¡¯ That¡¯s when the door shut open and a man stumbled inside. He was wearing a white coat. His curly hair were dark green, almost black and his glasses were obviously too big for his light skin face. Two soldiers entered the room and pressed the man to the ground, he but defended himself and managed to get free. ¡®Stop!¡¯, the old man commanded and the soldiers obeyed. ¡®Young man what brings you here and what¡¯s your name?¡¯ ¡®I am Nade, a scientist. To think I would one day meet the leaders! The people who lead the world behind the shadows!¡¯ He gazed at the old man. ¡®Even the president of America is here. President Kale himself! Like I said I know what is happening right now. That hologram behind you, it¡¯s called ghoul or some would also say a human possessed by a demon¡¯ ¨C ¡®The fuck!¡¯, a woman shrieked while others only started shaking their heads. Nevertheless, Nade went on: ¡®I know that may sound weird, but long ago, far in the past there was a war ¨C Angels vs Demons¡¯ ¨C ¡®Ok, I have heard enough, Nade!¡¯, President Kale decided. ¡®I had hoped you would have some useful intel, but no! You had to speak of demons and angels¡¯ ¨C ¡®It¡¯s the truth!¡¯, Nade insisted. ¡®If we want to stop what is about to happen, we must find the light and dark priests. They are the keys!¡¯ While most were left speechless, some even had to laugh. Yet, there was one person who kept her calm and passive face. It was the woman whose soldiers were right now engaged in a battle. The Wargod was among her soldiers. She was the President of England and went by the name Sarah. Her long brown hairs were smooth and fitted perfectly to her brown skin. Truly eye-catching were her golden brown eyes. She turned towards President and addressed him: ¡®President Kale, I appreciate your effort to help my, our people. However, next time I would want you to inform me before taking such action. Well, either way my soldiers are already on their way there. They should arrive in 15min. I will let my people inform them to not attack your people when they arrive.¡¯ ¡®You are right President Sarah. This is a mistake I shall not repeat. And now to you Nade. We don¡¯t have time for ¡ I don¡¯t even know what it was. Soldiers, for now take him away, but keep him close, we might need him later!¡¯ While the soldiers were taking Nade away, Nade started laughing and cursing at the presidents: ¡®You bunch of idiots! You don¡¯t know what you are dealing with! The ghouls are just the beginning!¡¯ he was finally outside and the door closed. Stolen story; please report. Chapter 6: The beginning of the end <> Dean gazed at his beer, then back to the woman, then next to Sark who shrugged his shoulder, hiding a grin. And when he was about to glance again at his beer the woman chuckled as she placed her hands afore her mouth. ¡®And will you also give me an answer mister?¡¯ Dean wiped his chin and asked: ¡®Do I look this old for you to call me mister?¡¯ Waving the arms, the woman explained: ¡®Ah no. I didn¡¯t mean it like that. It¡¯s just out of respect. You don¡¯t look old. In contrast¡¯, she tilted her body forward and the Dean flinched. Their eyes rigged at each other and Dean was the first one to break the contact. ¡®You may be around my age, hahah. Why did you look away? Am I so¡¯, she rose both hands and crawled the air, ¡®scary!¡¯ Dean burst out laughing. As he calmed down the woman snatched the beer from him and got a: ¡®Hey!¡¯ from him. ¡®Well, you didn¡¯t give me an answer, so I must find it out myself!¡¯ And she took a sip. As Dean saw her full scarlet lips leaving the glass he wasn¡¯t so flustered anymore. More like in a trance, but the Sark¡¯s cough tore him back into reality. ¡®And young lady, how is it?¡¯, the Sark demanded, already pouring beer into another glass. The woman took another sip, then a slightly bigger one. And she sighed satisfied. ¡®It¡¯s the best beer I ever had. But I think I will keep this one and you can have the new one! Are you fine with that?¡¯ Dean simply nodded and accepted the beer. But his confusion ceased suddenly and he thinned his eyes at the woman, asking: ¡®What is your mission? Do we know each other?¡¯ Not only the woman but Sark too was taken by this question. Dean¡¯s hands started shivering. Images of his woman cheating on him and her boyfriend beating him up flashed through his head. He inhaled and exhaled and repeated the process, only this time slower. The woman¡¯s cheerful face switched to a serious expression. She took a gulp and posed the glass down. As she did her posture also dropped. A heavy sight followed and she lastly posed her question: ¡®Problem with your relationship, right? By the way you can call me Larah.¡¯ ¡®Call me Dean and that bartender goes by Sark. (Sark: Damn why you getting me involved?) Is it that obvious? I mean what you said concerning my relationship?¡¯ Sark coughed thereupon and suppressed a grin to the point he had to bit his lips. Sighing, Dean side-eyed him. Then he took another sip from his beer. Larah followed the example and went on: ¡®Not obvious. But let¡¯s just say, I just ended a toxic relationship some hours ago! So, I know how one looks. However, this wouldn¡¯t have happened¡¯ she briefly gazed with thinned eyes at the man, ¡®when my first love had not dumped me!¡¯ She briefly puffed her cheeks. Dean¡¯s eyes spread wide open, but not only his for Sark was also staggered by that reveal. Dean pointed at Larah and demanded: ¡®You, you were dumped? You? Or wait! Could it be that you were fat in the past and had a glow up?¡¯ ¡®No hahaha.¡¯ Larah slid her hands down her body, replying: ¡®I was born pretty but my love still dumped me. I never got to know the reason! Well, it Is what it is!¡¯ Sark had something to do and left the two on their own. ¡®Was that first love at least a model?¡¯ ¡®No, he was average but I pay more attention to the character!¡¯ ¡®I see. And what happened to that idiot?¡¯ ¡®Hahaha. Don¡¯t call him like that. He was everything¡¯, her eyes rigged at Dean¡¯s ones and for a beat everything around them ceased ¨C Music, the people, everything. As Larah resumed, everything went back to normal, ¡®but an idiot. Well¡¯, she clasped her beer with both hands, though they were too small, ¡®he went on and found another person to waste his time with. So did I!¡¯ She gazed into the beer and from the side Dean could see a grin on her face. ¡®Well, for the man and me the relationship didn¡¯t end well and they ended up meeting in a bar at night!¡¯ Dean gulped down his beer and uttered with a bright smile: ¡®Lucky for them. I hope that man uses that night to correct his mistakes. Dumping you! What an idiot! I mean you seem sympatico, full of character. And speaking to you feels so familiar. So, what was his reason to dump you?¡¯ The Larah stood up and closed the distance to Dean. Her eyes were glowing and her lips twitching. And she spoke out: ¡®Why don¡¯t you tell me why you dumped me?¡¯ Bammm! Everyone turned to the door. And then it happened again¨Csomeone banged against the door. Right after, someone stormed in and closed the door behind him. Yes, his behaviour was weird but even weirder were his blood stained hands and the wound on his chest, as if an animal had crawled him¡ Support the creativity of authors by visiting the original site for this novel and more. Chapter 7 Crimson <> Everyone was silent, their eyes fixed at the gasping man. Their faces were pale and their bodies stiff. The first one who managed to get hold of himself was Dean. He ran over to the man, his guard always up, nevertheless. And he asked, no with his voice one would say it was like a demand to answer: ¡®Is that your blood?¡¯ The man pulled his limbs towards him, shuddering and tears on their ways to his eyes. Still, Dean asked again, with the same harsh tone: ¡®is that your blood? I need to know!¡¯ (Sark: And he was beaten by someone? I can¡¯t imagine that!) Then it came; the man snapped completely: ¡®No it¡¯s not my blood! God damn! I was walking with my wife and then suddenly the moon started turning red and I was like wow cool. Fuck that! The next moment that fucking monster came out the ground (Larah: Monster?) and, and, and ... Fuck! What is happening here?¡¯ Dean left the man on his own, ready to march out if it wasn¡¯t for Larah, calling after him: ¡®Dean didn¡¯t you hear what he just said? Red moon! Monsters! What do you plan to do?¡¯ Dean remained silent, all eyes stuck on him and the man whose hand were covered in blood, well, he was in his own world. At a closer look, he had even started pissing himself. Dean clasped the door handle. His impulse was high, irregular, thumping like a storm. Well destiny itself decided for him for suddenly a man broke through the door and slammed into Dean. They both crashed to the ground. Immediately Larah jerked to her legs and ran towards Dean, but she halted when she saw that creature standing at the door. The scientist had called such a creature ghoul. The ghoul was tall, at least 2m his eyes glowing scarlet and his tears were blood itself. As it entered with an overlapped growl everyone retreated towards the bar where Sark was looking for something. The only one who was still fighting with the thought to confront the monster was Larah. Yes, her legs were on the verge of giving up She had sweated so much that even her body couldn''t produce sweat anymore, however, she saw Dean. He was busy pushing the man lying on top of him. And hat man was a big man. And the wounds on the neck and the silence of the man indicated he had to be dead. Larah slapped herself and right away grabbed a chair next to her and then she shouted at the ghoul: ¡®Go fucking back! I will kill you!¡¯ For a beat the ghoul really halted and tilted his head to the side. A grin spread on his face and damn that grin was ugly as fuck. Then it leaped forward. Larah threw the chair at the ghoul but with a sway of his hand he destroyed the chair. Larah finally dropped to her legs. In this very moment Dean felt something again in a very long time. The urge to act, to protect, to fight for something. His body was overboiling with determination and power. He shoved the man aside and pounced at the ghoul. The ghoul thrust his arm forward. Dean swayed to the side, grabbed the arm of the ghoul. And as he rotated his body he tore the ghoul along and lastly he slammed the ghoul to the ground. Dean didn¡¯t lose time and elbowed the ghoul. Next a kick followed. His barrage of attack ceased when Sark shouted: ¡®Dean, get away from that ugly bastard!¡¯ The whole time Sark had searched for something and he had found that something, his beloved shotgun. ¡®Fuck, Sark!¡¯, Dean bellowed as he packed Larah and lifted her up, not seeing her face blush. Then he made place for Sark. Sark jerked over the bar; shotgun pointed the ghoul who was standing up. And the moment the ghoul was up, the bullets were fired. Sark blew half the face of the ghoul away, yet the ghoul was still on his legs, however, Sark had to load his gun. The people behind him prodded him to load quicker. Everyone had his own share to say: ¡®Faster!¡¯ ¡®Bro you taking a whole vacation to load!¡¯ ... Well, Dean was different. He broke a chair and took the pointed part and stormed forward. To his luck the wound had affected the ghoul. He was helpless when Dean jumped and rammed the pointed wood into his head. Blood sprayed out but lastly the ghoul dropped dead. Dean didn¡¯t lose time. He ran outside and damn! It even looked better in the bar because outside here, chaos was reigning. The moon stood at its highest peak completely turned crimson. She was right now working night shift in the police station. She had her headphones on. The door to her office was closed. Jessie was a gorgeous woman. She wore a brown pony. Her skin was light brown and smooth and her eyes were choco brown. She was wearing her blue police uniform which emphasized her curves. The door to her office opened and an older grey-haired man entered. Right away Jessie removed her headphones and pretended to do her work on her computer. Well, there was still the pile of documents on her desk and since Jessie had arrived at work that pile of paper had not changed. The man stared at Jessie and normally he would now rebuke her and shake his head disappointed but this reaction never came and it left Jessie kind of stupefied. ¡®Mmh, John everything alright with you? You look kind of serious, even more than normally!¡¯ John took a seat and gave his answer: ¡®We suddenly received thousands of calls about humanoid monsters, appearing everywhere in the city. Well I told myself that must be a prank but to be on the safe side I sent people to the different locations because for a prank this is too much. When I was on the way to go look for myself I received a call from the government. It does not look good for us. For our luck the military is already on the way. For now we should go outside and look after the situation ourself! Help wherever help is needed.¡¯ He stood up, not waiting for an answer from Jessie yet Jessie herself didn¡¯t know what to even say in the first place and so she simply tagged along. They left the office. Not 2 seconds after that two police officers entered the police station. One was heavily wounded. Seemed like an animal had clawed his chest. The other one seemed finer, and was helping the wounded police officer. The man who was helping had a bandage around his leg. Jessie ran to a table and swiped everything away while John had ran off to get some bandages. Jessie helped her colleague and together they laid down the police officer on the table. ¡®What happened outside there?¡¯, Jessie inquired. But the man who wasn¡¯t wounded badly could only reply with a stutter. Then he turned around and pointed towards the exit and his face darkened at once. He dropped to his knees. That man was of no use. For Jessie¡¯s luck the wounded man managed to speak. His voice was weak but Jessie was able to hear him: ¡®Monsters, monsters are attacking us. And if, if they bite you¡¯ he turned his head to the police officer who was having a mentally breakdown, ¡®the person turns into a monster!¡¯ He tore Jessie towards him and whispered into her ear: ¡®He was bitten!¡¯ Jessie¡¯s face turned pale at once. The wounded man let go of her arm and fell back. The light in his eyes faded and lastly his heart came to a halt. That¡¯s when John came running with all the bandages they had. When he stopped before his dead colleague he cursed: ¡®Fuck!¡¯ But there was not enough time to mourn for it could be that soon another colleague would be dead¨CJessie was pointing her gun at the knelt man. He wasn¡¯t able to see anything because his head was down and he had covered his ears with his hands. And he seemed to be mumbling something. The arm holding the gun was shaking. Jessie bit her lips. Hurt herself to suppress the fear inhabiting her bones. If what her colleague said was true then soon that man too would ... John packed her arm and slowly lowered it. ¡®Jessie, what are you planning to do?¡¯ Now it was Jessie who whispered: ¡®The dead police officer said that a person that gets bitten will turn into a monster!¡¯ ¡®I heard what you said!¡¯ Jessie and John turned wards the police officer who had been crouching on the ground. Slowly he rose back to his legs. (Jessie: I whispered how was he able to hear it?) ¡®I heard what you said!¡¯, the man repeated. His voice was harsh, not shaking anymore and even his demeanor had changed, turned kind of sinister. However, the man still looked like a human. Everything was normal, but the blood that flowed out his eyes like tears. Jessie and John retreated and now both were pointing their guns at the man who simply stood there. ¡®Wow. So that¡¯s how you are, Jessie and John? You will kill me? Just like that? How long do we know each other?¡¯ He advanced one step - ¡®Stop right there!¡¯, Jessie bellowed. ¡®I don¡¯t have time for this shit! I have watched enough zombie movies to know what will happen now! So, don¡¯t fuck with me!¡¯ ¡®Fuck with you?¡¯, the man demanded. ¡®Well if I could I would, hahahahahahah...¡¯ (Jessie: He has totally lost it!) John placed himself before Jessi and uttered: ¡®Jessie, wait. And you Cole, I would appreciate it if you could work with us. Aside the blood you don¡¯t look like a monster to me. Yes, your behavior changed a bit but tell me how does a monster look in the first place?¡¯ Cole inhaled and exhaled. He then smacked his head. He used a table to his side to stay up. As he was about to answer the exit to the police station exploded. A flame of see arose and out this flames a woman stepped out. This tale has been unlawfully obtained from Royal Road. It seemed like they didn¡¯t know why themselves. And of course he also saw the ghouls who were feasting on some humans. Immediately Dean ran inside and shouted: ¡®Every person who has arms, take chairs and tables and barricade the fucking door!¡¯ Nobody moved. Well so Dean had to try again: ¡®If you do nothing you are all going to die and now move, move!¡¯ And so they obeyed. The kids stayed behind the women and the men to the front. When they came near the ghoul they slowed down but at the end they did their job. While the men were doing their job Dean, Larah and Sark gathered together around the man whose hands were blood stained. Dean kneed before him. Meanwhile Sark leaned towards Lara whispered: ¡®I heard you speaking with him before. Seems like you knew each other before. Was he always like that? Like some minutes ago he told me he was beaten by someone, but well. That¡¯s hard to swallow now!¡¯ Larah smiled. ¡®He was always like that. But the moment you really need him he turns to the most reliable man I know. Well, he only needs to realize that himself!¡¯ Dean was engaged in a conversation with the man when the man suddenly started scratching his shoulders. The shirt was ripped at that place and revealed a bite mark. Dean helped him up and took him to the bar where a woman was distributing water. One of the woman approached Deana and asked: ¡®Why did you order us to barricade the door? Are there more of them outside there?¡¯ That question introduced silent. Here and there gulps would break this silence but nobody dared to utter another word. Even the man stopped in their work, awaiting an answer from Dean and that answer came: ¡®Yes! For now the best thing to do would be to wait here!¡¯ ¡®And then what?¡¯, a man asked, putting down the table. ¡®How long will we wait here? I¡¯ve consumed dozens of movies where shift like this happens and I know one thing! Staying too long at the same place is suicide. It¡¯s just a matter of time till something from the outside gets in here. Like bro, this cheap barricade wouldn¡¯t even be able to keep a child or granny outside!¡¯ Dean was eft baffled, his heart thumping and the sweat wouldn¡¯t stop gushing down his face. The pressure even increased when everyone started giving him gazes. Larah stormed to the front and hushed the women away from Dean. ¡®If one of you think he has a better idea, then step. When that monster was attacking us what did you all do? Exactly, so shut up!¡¯ She turned to Dean and her voice became soft, lovely. ¡®Thank you, for saving me, Dean!¡¯ Dean put on an awkward smile and scratched his head. ¡®I should thank you, Larah. Damn can¡¯t remember that I, dumped you! I dumped you? Damn how dumb was I?¡¯ Larah puffed her cheeks and crossed her arms, nodding to Dean¡¯s statement. Well their nice moment was interrupted by the man¡¯s coughing. His arms weren¡¯t the only thing which were red anymore. His eyes too had turned red and his eyes had started bleeding. The man dropped to his four and wiggled his body in a weird way. Here and there a bestial groan would escape his mouth where teeth were growing to fangs. The women at the bar grabbed the children and ran towards the men who had gathered near the door where the ghoul still laid. Well he was dead and the other man who was turning was still alive. Sark was already pointing his gun at the man whose skin slowly turned dark. Dean decided to retreat and as he did Larah followed him. So everyone just stood there, watching the man turn. For their luck there was one sane person in the bar, a woman who called after Sark: ¡®You, the barkeeper, just shoot the man. Can¡¯t you see his turning into a fucking monster?¡¯ But Sark waited and when the ghoul let out a shriek he reflexively shot and with that blew the man¡¯s head off. He dropped dead. The woman who had proved herself sane was not as sane as everyone thought for next she pointed at Dean and ordered: ¡®Now kill him. He was too long next to that man and I think he even touched him. He must be infected. So, kill him!¡¯ The people behind that woman simply nodded and approved of that sane woman¡¯s proposal. Dean intervened with a rather loud voice: ¡®I saw his shoulder. He was bitten. Maybe that¡¯s why he turned. I mean that dead person there didn¡¯t turn but only because he wasn¡¯t bitten. I only see scratch wound on him!¡¯ The sane person rode to her defense: ¡®How can you be 100% sure that¡¯s the case? Worst case scenario we let you live and you turn into a monster yourself. Then what? You kill us? Hahaha, that¡¯s what you want, to kill us and then before you kill me you will kiss me and do more things with me!¡¯ (Random man: The fuck woman! You mental?) (Random woman: Oh yes , nice. I also want that!) Sark couldn¡¯t listen to that bullshit anymore and pointed his gun at the allegedly sane woman who reacted by pointing her finger at Sark. ¡®I knew it! They all want to do things with me! You nasty bunch!¡¯ Headshaking Sark gave Dean the gun. Then he leaped over the bar and removed a black bag from underneath the table he then also threw at Dean. ¡®Dean this bunch of people are lost. Better we try our luck outside and seems like if you stay here any longer they will sooner or later kill you and I wouldn¡¯t even be surprised if that crazy woman were to rape you!¡¯ The moment Sark had said that he noticed Larah¡¯s grimace. Smiling he turned to her. ¡®Larah, you look promising. Are you coming with us?¡¯ Larah gazed to Dean who gave her a look and grinned. Sark jumped over the bar and took the bag from Dean. ¡®We are taking the backdoor since the front was cheaply barricaded!¡¯ He gave the group a last look and with a grin he moved on. Larah and Dean tagged along Stolen content warning: this content belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences. Battlefield of Legends Dae and the man were standing there, simply observing how the creature was digging its way out the ground. As it did, the moon turned further crimson. For a beat this took away the attention from the emerging creature, a grave mistake for when Dae gazed back to the arm, it was gone and a hole was left instead. Right away he ordered the soldier: ¡®Back on back! Now!¡¯ ¡®Why should I listen to¡¯-the next moment the ghoul stood behind the soldier and penetrated his chest with his longs nails. In a leap back Dae threw a grenade at the man. He dashed behind a boulder and awaited the explosion-booooom! Unbothered he checked his gun if everything was alright and also checked the munition. Then he revealed himself. The explosion had done its job. The soldiers body was completely gone and the ghoul¡¯s body was wrecked and he seemed to be dead. Slowly Dae approached the dead body, circling it in the process. ¡®Damn! What the fuck is that? I must contact¡¯-¡¯You must contact no one!¡¯, a woman interrupted. She was standing on a high boulder further away from Dae. She had light brown and golden curly hairs, posing a deep contrast to her dark skin. Her eyes were golden and she was built broad, yet the female figure had remained. She went by the name Rayshel and was pointing two guns at Dae who despite his reaction didn¡¯t pay much attention to Rayshel. Only when the other soldiers revealed themselves Dae started lowering his gun, pleasing Rayshel with that: ¡®Well now you are careful, Wargod!¡¯ Everyone looked stupefied. They were facing the Wargod? Dae smiled as he lastly halted before the dead ghoul. (Dae: It¡¯s really dead! Good!) ¡®I am not surprised that you know me but I also have some intel on you Rayshel or should I rather say, Berserker!¡¯ Rayshel leaped of the boulder and landed on the ground with a big bam! Now that she stood on the same level as her soldiers it was clear that she was taller than most. Her arm, legs were broader than most. She was just immense. She tucked her guns away and took the ax with the long handle that was fastened on her back. This sight only pushed Dae towards mirth: ¡®You are really crazy! You can see what is here, before my legs, right?¡¯ ¡®A black body!¡¯, Rayshel replied und shrugged her shoulders. Seeing her carefree reaction Dae went on: ¡®And are bodies normally black?¡¯ ¡®Na, but when covered in ashes it can become black!¡¯ Dae shook his head and pointed at the moon. ¡®Do you also find that normal?¡¯ ¡®The red moon? Well, I don¡¯t care. In these days people are experimenting with all kind of shit things. It would not surprise me if one day the sun turned green. But¡¯¨CShe rose her ax and as she did, her soldiers pointed their guns at Dae. Dae on his part remained calm. (Dae: Something is weird. She is overboiling with killing intent but none of that is directed at me!) Rayshel smiled, seeing Dae¡¯s reaction. ¡®I see. You are called the Wargod for a reason!¡¯ The next moment Rayshel smashed her ax into the ground; a thunderous impact emerged. The ax dug into the ground, deep, but everyone there knew of the Berserker¡¯s inhuman strength. The real surprising thing was when she removed her ax from the ground and the blade of the ax was clad in blood. Next, Rayshel thrust her arm into the ground and tore out a ghoul from underneath the ground. The ghoul¡¯s head had been spitted in two. Rayshel threw the ghoul to the ground. (Dae: That woman ! Her raw strength and her inhuman instincts are really something!) The soldiers retreated, only Dae came even nearer and Rayshel kept staring at him. ¡®Rayshel, you want something from me?¡¯ ¡®Yeah! Mind telling me what that is?¡¯ ¡®How would I know what that is? You can ask him yourself!¡¯ Rayshel broke out in a hysterical laughter, gripping her ax even tighter. And suddenly she bellowed: ¡®Everyone prepare! That ugly thing brought friends with him. It¡¯s time for a massacre!¡¯ (Dae: I forgot that woman is a fight maniac!) Right away, everywhere on the fields ghouls popped out. Different to the previous ghouls. Most of the ghouls carried guns and some even grenades with them. They were dressed in old military uniforms which gave a slight violet glow from them just like the guns. (Dae: What if these monsters were once dead and retained their skills from the time they lived? Then this is bad!) The shooting started and Rayshel was already looking for her first target but then Dae¡¯s voice resounded throughout the battlefield: ¡®Everyone grab you things and follow me! We shouldn¡¯t fight in the open!¡¯ Rayshel who had already spitted three ghouls in half leaped after her fourth, when suddenly beneath her another ghoul emerged. Compared to the other ghouls this ghoul was built broader and didn¡¯t carry any guns for that a weapon was fastened on his back¨Ca long sword. That ghoul packed Rayshel by her throat and slammed her to the ground-baaaaaanm! Rayshel kicked that ghoul away, heaved to her legs and her grin had grown bigger. ¡®Hashahaha! You are strong you bastard!¡¯ She massaged her neck and prepared for an attack Suddenly Rayshel¡¯s senses heightened and she looked around the field. Yes the ghouls were stronger in a one-on-one fight but her soldiers beat them in numbers, for now, making the battle fair. The good thing was that the ghouls emerged one after one and not at once. Thus, they could never shift the tides of the battle completely to their sides. There were evenly losses on both sides, yet still great losses. However, this might just change. The ghoul with the long sword had not attacked and was just waiting. Around him other ghouls popped up and Rayshel knew right away these 5 ghouls were world apart from the other ghouls. Dae threw a bunch of grenades as he bellowed: ¡®Light!¡¯ Everyone understood the assignment and gazed away, only the ghouls glanced right at the falling grenades. The grenades exploded and a dazzling light befell the ground, followed by a loud high sound. In that moment, Dae made hand signs and surprisingly Rayshel calmed down. When Dae jogged of in the direction of his team Rayshel followed him and her soldiers tagged along. One of the soldiers was jogging next to Rayshel and he couldn¡¯t contain his curiosity: ¡®Mhh, Rayshel, I know you so what did he say to get you away from the battle field? I mean, you love fighting! Like you really adore it! And here you are, distancing yourself from it. That¡¯s a first for me! You¡¯-¡¯iI we stayed there you would have all died. And that¡¯s a fact. Yes, I love fighting. However, I wouldn¡¯t sacrifices my people just to have fun. A the end I am still a human. (Random soldier: A human? You? Hell no!) If I understood well, Dae communicated that these monsters there might have been soldiers once. And if he¡¯s right, you are in big a problem and I hit the jackpot because right now we are on a battle field where once the Legends fought. That soldier with the giant sword he must be one of the five Legends(Random soldier: You crazy woman! Where ist hat a jackpot?)
