    War¡­ War Never Changes¡­ But people do¡­


    It is the 21st Century. Humanity has come to great lengths and achieved many scientific feats once thought to be the realm of science fiction, such as domestic robots, highly intelligent computers, powered armour, and fusion power. The stars were there for the taking, mankind¡¯s birthright. But with man¡¯s intellect came their stubbornness, fighting pity wars that would inevitably consume their world in atomic fire, cleansing the world of life. They called it the great silence, when there was nothing but death and dirt and the bones of the old-world power that called themselves mankind¡­


    Before the world was cleansed with atomic fire where the old-world¡¯s superpowers, like the People¡¯s Republic of China, the United States of America, India, Russia and Pakistan, along with their puppet allies and minor superpowers such as Australia, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Egypt and many more. Eventually, the inevitable came, and these science fiction-powered superpowers battled each other. First were the resource wars, where European countries like the UK, France and Germany declared war on the countries in the Middle East for resources such as oil. It ended with a glimpse into what would become their world: A rain of atomic fire.


    This proved the USA¡¯s fears of a nuclear war, and they began project ¡®Safehouse, ¡¯ directed by Vault-tec to construct bunkers called ¡®Vaults¡¯ to protect the people of America from the possible horrible future. No one knew the true horrors that awaited them within these vaults. But these vaults were not just confined to protecting the USA but their allies as well, such as the UK and Australia, and even newly annexed Canada. Why vaults were constructed in these countries, we will get back to later.


    But the USA¡¯s superstition of possible war with a rival superpower came to true when the People¡¯s Republic of China attacked Alaska to gain access to its rich oil fields, which by now were the last remaining oil reserves on earth. With war sparked, the USA was going to need the military power to take the fight to Chinese land; thus entered Australia, being the USA¡¯s closest ally and most likely the most powerful, Australia proved to be the perfect base of operations to invade the Chinese homeland. Eager to prove themselves the Australian Defence force or ADF made a pre-emptive attack and China¡¯s patrolling navy badly crippling the Chinese naval fighting capabilities.


    However, the fight in Alaska would prove to be a losing war on the US¡¯s side. With risk of losing, Australia sent= specialist forces such as the legendary SASR, 2 Commando and the 2/6 Armoured regiment to aid the Americans in Alaska, although the reinforcements came to be extremely useful the Chinese had perfected the art of stealth and so far not even the world¡¯s best special forces could beat them, this called for something stronger that would be able to quickly push back the Chinese. While tanks would have easily been the answer, the cold and rough terrain proved that tanks would be too expensive and too easy targets on the battlefield. the USA needed something as small as a man with the power of a tank.

    Thus, the fusion-powered mobile armoured suit was born, commonly referred to as just power armour. This was going to be the pinnacle of soldier battlefield capability, and so the prototype of the T-43 was made and given to the Australian 2/6 Armoured Regiment and the most experienced US Marines. This was exactly what the US had been looking for, as US forces quickly pushed the Chinese back. And so the blueprints for the T-43 were adjusted and improved, and soon, hundreds of T-45 powered armour suits were being produced. As a gift of goodwill, the US gave all the remaining T-43 power armour suits to Australia, and soon, all ADF forces withdrew from Alaska.


    Over the years Australia adapter their power armour, reverse engineered it and put it into production for a while, making their power armour called T-48 a combination between the T-43 and the new T-45 and T-51, eventually Australia simple resorted back to buying power armour from the USA, these suits would be needed to fight against the rebels in Papa New Guinea which Australia has recently taken as well and the surrounding islands. Australia had also diplomatically forced New Zealand to join the Commonwealth of Australia. By 2070, Australia had control over most of Oceania.


    With only 7 years before nuclear annihilation and experts predicting an end to human civilization Australia presses a demand for Vault-tec security with the country to protect themselves from the coming Great War, eventually the US agrees and begins construction of Vault (AU) 117 which would house Australia¡¯s most precious military and scientific resources, in exchange for additional Vaults in Australia, the US was promised extensive ADF manpower to aid in the coming invasion of China.


    So it was agreed, Australia began selling most of its Coal reserves to America before reducing trade in 2075 to focus more domestically, with the promise of manpower Australia send their most experienced fighting force, the 2/6 Armoured Regiment which was now mostly a mobile power armour unit, along with 1 RAR To America to prepare for the invasion, while 3 RAR prepared from Australia. With the need for more military power Australia bolstered their fleet to nuclear classed ships, and purchased hundreds of suits of T-45, T-51 and even a couple prototype T-60 suits as well, Australian spies also found blueprints of experimental suits of power armour called X-01, X-02 and the secret service power armour dubbed T-65, with these blueprints Australia could begin experimentation of their own.


    By now the year is 2077, USA calls ¡®cry wolf¡¯ for the last time, Chinese remnants in Alaska are annihilated, the T-45 leaves active service in the US marines, Australia cuts off all international trade and turns completely domestic, by now America and Australia where at the gates of Beijing when 1 RAR, 3 RAR and 2/6 Armoured Regiment withdraw from China back to Australia to prepare for the coming war, Governments like the Enclave and the Parliament retreat to secure locations as the world burns around them. Power demand and rations began to dry as the harsh reality set into people that society was on the brink of collapse.


    On October 23rd of 2077, China launched nuclear missiles heading towards the United States and their allies. Not soon after, the US responded by launching their nuclear missiles, and eventually, any country armed with nuclear weapons followed. Within 2 hours, 47 minutes and 18 seconds, the earth was reduced to a radioactive fallout wasteland. What followed next was known as the Great Silence.


    Nothing but dirt and the bones of our ancestors, but you won''t have to know any of that because here in Vault 158, no one ever leaves or enters the vault.


    Because War Never Changes, and neither does man.
