《Reincarnation of the Legendary Sword》
Perfect Rose
¡°I don¡¯t remember exactly how many years ago it was, but that day, the old, muscular man took me. I could feel how powerful he was,¡±thought the sword.
Perfect Rose, an elegant katana with rose motifs on its hilt. Its blade, once white, was now stained red from countless battles. Its owner, Nagatomo, had given it this name.
Nagatomo sat in a room adorned with red rose motifs, drinking sake with Luke, whom he had considered a close friend for years. Luke slowly set his cup down on the table and looked at Nagatomo.
¡°Nagatomo, we¡¯ve been friends for years. But why have you never let me use Perfect Rose?¡± he asked, a hint of hurt in his voice.
Nagatomo narrowed his eyes and looked at Luke. ¡°Luke, how many times have I explained this to you? Perfect Rose is bound to my soul. If anyone else tries to wield it, they¡¯ll be poisoned and die.¡±
Luke smiled faintly. ¡°The same old story, huh? Don¡¯t you trust me?¡±
Before Nagatomo could make sense of Luke¡¯s smile, the atmosphere in the room shifted. Three figures appeared: the Spear Saint in the center, the Alchemy Saint to his right, and the Shield Saint to his left.
Nagatomo quickly rose to his feet and gripped Perfect Rose. But his reaction speed wasn¡¯t what it used to be. His body felt heavy.
¡°It¡¯s over, Nagatomo. There¡¯s nowhere to run. Surrender,¡± growled the Shield Saint.
The Alchemy Saint added with a sly smile, ¡°You¡¯ve been poisoned, Nagatomo. You¡¯ve lost 40% of your strength.¡±
Nagatomo¡¯s eyes widened. Poisoned? How? He suddenly looked at Luke, who was still sitting at the table, smiling faintly.
¡°Luke... Why did you do this to me?¡± Nagatomo shouted, his voice filled with pain and anger. ¡°I treated you like family! I took care of you!¡±
Luke slowly set his cup down on the table. ¡°I¡¯m sorry, Nagatomo. But this wasn¡¯t my choice.¡±
Nagatomo¡¯s eyes burned with rage. He drew Perfect Rose and focused his energy into the blade. ¡°Perfect Rose, it¡¯s your turn now!¡±
The sword echoed in Nagatomo¡¯s mind:¡®Finally! I don¡¯t have to hold back anymore!¡¯
Nagatomo swiftly swung the blade toward Luke. A wave of energy split Luke in two, and his body collapsed to the ground.
The Saints watched in shock. The Shield Saint muttered in a trembling voice, ¡°Even with the poison, he¡¯s still this strong?¡±

The Spear Saint pointed his spear at Nagatomo. ¡°Because of you, we lost everything, Nagatomo. Our country was destroyed, our families killed. Today, we take our revenge!¡±
Nagatomo glared at the Spear Saint. ¡°Because of me? You lost everything because of your own greed. How far will you go to take Perfect Rose?¡±
The Alchemy Saint took a step forward. ¡°This sword doesn¡¯t belong in the hands of a killer like you. We¡¯ll take it, Nagatomo. Whether you like it or not.¡±
Nagatomo swung Perfect Rose and stepped toward the Saints. ¡°Then let¡¯s begin. Perfect Rose, show them our power!¡±
The sword echoed excitedly in Nagatomo¡¯s mind:¡®Oh, yeah! Finally, we¡¯re having some fun!¡¯
The Spear Saint, Shield Saint, and Alchemy Saint attacked simultaneously.Seeing this, Nagatomo activated one of his signature moves:¡°Garden of Eternity.¡±He moved like a child playing in a rose garden, dodging every attack at the last second.
The frustrated Shield Saint snapped, ¡°Stop running away like a coward and fight like a man!¡±
The Spear Saint suddenly had an idea and turned to the Alchemy Saint. ¡°Do you have more poison? If so, give it to me. I¡¯ll coat my spear with it.¡±
The Alchemy Saint retrieved the poison from her spatial ring and handed it over. ¡°This poison loses its potency 15 minutes after exposure to air. But once it enters the bloodstream, it dulls the victim¡¯s emotions.¡±
Meanwhile, the Shield Saint kept Nagatomo occupied.
¡°Let¡¯s get serious, then,¡± said Nagatomo, using the¡°Dragon Spiral¡±technique. This technique allowed his katana to bend unpredictably, striking from unexpected angles.
The Shield Saint was shocked. He had assumed Nagatomo couldn¡¯t use energy due to the poison. But now, he was being utterly overwhelmed.
Just as things seemed to be going well, Nagatomo felt a chill down his spine. As he turned, the Spear Saint¡¯s spear pierced his side.
Normally, a single spear wound wouldn¡¯t faze Nagatomo, but now he staggered. As another spear thrust came, Nagatomo caught the tip with his bare hand. The Spear Saint tried to pull back, but the spear wouldn¡¯t budge.
The Spear Saint panicked and tried to retreat, but a overwhelming killing intent washed over him. Nagatomo vanished and reappeared behind him. As the Spear Saint turned, he heard a soft whisper:¡°Galaxy Eraser.¡±
The Spear Saint realized he was dead. A second later, his body disintegrated, leaving a massive crater in its wake.
The shockwave from the attack affected the Shield Saint and Alchemy Saint, causing them to cough up blood. They looked up and saw Nagatomo laughing. They realized they had messed with the wrong person.
Nagatomo turned to the Shield Saint. With a single horizontal slash, he decapitated him without giving him a chance to defend.
The Alchemy Saint, terrified, stammered, ¡°Nagatomo, I think we can make a deal. I can heal you¡ª¡±
Nagatomo cut her off with a laugh. ¡°Heal me? I make those who wrong me suffer even more.¡± He killed her without hesitation.
Exhausted, Nagatomo took a deep breath. His energy was spent, and the poison was taking its toll.
After the battle, Nagatomo lay on the ground, on the verge of death. The poison¡¯s effects had worsened. He looked up at the sky and whispered, ¡°I¡¯ve lived a long life, full of adventures. Now, our journey ends.¡±
He turned to Perfect Rose. ¡°You were my companion, my most trusted partner. I hope your next wielder is worthy of you.¡±
He gazed at the sky one last time. ¡°It was a good journey, my friend. Take care of yourself.¡±
That day, the legend of Nagatomo came to an end. He died with a smile on his face.
Awakening
The Year 2029. The world had completely changed due to a phenomenon that emerged 11 years ago. Dungeons.
Suddenly, massive structures began appearing all over the world. No one knew where these dungeons came from or how they appeared. The only thing known was that these dungeons contained both great dangers and incredible treasures.
The dungeons became a turning point for humanity. In the early days, the monsters and energies that emerged from the dungeons brought immense suffering to people. Cities were destroyed, and people were forced to abandon their homes. However, in the midst of this crisis, scientists found a glimmer of hope. One day, they made a worldwide announcement:
"If you consume the cores from the chests of the monsters you kill, you can awaken your power. Once your power is awakened, consuming another monster core will allow you to absorb between 1% and 80% of that monster''s power, depending on your body''s compatibility."
The scientists continued:
"The average human''s power is around 10 PS (Power Score). We have classified monsters into 7 tiers based on their power: F, E, D, C, B, A, and S. The lowest tier, F, has monsters with 100 PS. Each tier is 10 times stronger than the previous one. For example, an E-tier monster has 1,000 PS, and a D-tier monster has 10,000 PS."
This announcement changed everything. People became bolder, venturing into the dungeons. However, everyone''s ability to absorb monster cores varied. This ability divided people into four categories:
-
1%-20% Absorption: Low Compatibility
These individuals could absorb very little power from monster cores. They usually played supporting roles in dungeons.
-
21%-40% Absorption: Medium Compatibility
These individuals could absorb a moderate amount of power from monster cores. They could actively fight in dungeons.
-
41%-60% Absorption: High Compatibility
These individuals could absorb a significant amount of power from monster cores. They could lead teams in dungeons.
-
61%-80% Absorption: Perfect Compatibility
These individuals could absorb the highest amount of power from monster cores. They were rare and could survive even in the most dangerous areas of dungeons.
In addition to their absorption abilities, humans were also classified into tiers from F to S based on their power levels. F-tier hunters (100-999 PS) were at the beginner level, while S-tier hunters (100,000,000 PS and above) possessed almost god-like powers. This classification determined the roles of hunters in dungeons and their status in society.
Meanwhile, a young man named Minamo was struggling to survive. Minamo was tall, with blonde hair, green eyes, and a handsome face. However, his family''s poverty had left him weak and frail. He had lost his father at a young age in a work accident and now had to take care of his mother and older sister.
One evening, as Minamo sat in the small kitchen of their home, looking at the tired faces of his mother and sister, he made a decision. He could no longer live like this. With the emergence of the dungeons, the world had changed. If he could become a hunter, he could provide a better life for his family.
The next day, he went to the Japan Hunter Association. The association was conducting measurements for new hunter candidates. When it was his turn, Minamo entered. The measurement room was filled with machines and screens. The attendant told Minamo to sit in a chair and placed a series of sensors on his head.

As the measurement began, Minamo''s heart raced. This could be the turning point of his life. A few minutes later, the attendant looked at the results, and a slight frown appeared on his face.
"Your body compatibility is only 4%," the attendant said, his voice tinged with regret. "This means you will absorb very little power from monster cores. Surviving in the dungeons will be difficult for you."
Hearing these words, Minamo felt a surge of anger. He had always felt weak and helpless in life. But this time, he had no intention of giving up. He turned to the attendant and spoke, his voice trembling:
"I know it will be hard for me. But that doesn¡¯t mean I won¡¯t try. I¡¯ll do whatever it takes to give my family a better life."
Minamo left the Hunter Association and began walking home. However, on the way, he heard a woman''s screams from a side alley. He quickly ran toward the sound and saw three men attempting to assault a woman.
The anger inside him flared up. Without thinking, he charged at the men and punched the one in front. The man, caught off guard by the unexpected attack, fell to the ground. The other two men stared at Minamo in shock.
Minamo turned to the woman and said quickly:
"I¡¯ll keep them busy, you call the police!"
The woman, trembling with fear and shock, nodded and ran away. Minamo faced the men. However, they outnumbered him, and they had knives. Despite his bravery, Minamo soon began to get injured. The knife wounds quickly weakened him.
With one last effort, he managed to knock one of the men down, but the other two pounced on him. Minamo fell to the ground and lost consciousness.
Minamo''s body was on the brink of death when he was taken to the hospital. He had suffered multiple stab wounds and was in critical condition due to blood loss. The doctors said his chances of survival were very low.
However, while Minamo was unconscious, something strange happened. In his dreams, he saw a white light. The light approached him, and he heard a voice from within it:
"Minamo, we cannot lose a brave soul like you. But now, it is my turn."
The voice permeated Minamo''s body. At that moment, Minamo''s consciousness completely faded. But his body did not die. Because Perfect Rose had been reborn within Minamo''s body.
When Minamo''s eyes opened again, they were no longer his own. In his eyes shone the wisdom and power of an ancient warrior. Perfect Rose had taken control of Minamo''s body.
Slowly, he got up from the bed and looked around. The hospital room was unfamiliar to him. He examined his hands¡ªMinamo''s hands. He felt his body, but it was now his.
"This... is strange," he murmured. "Is this what it feels like to be human?"
Minamo''s memories began to surface in Perfect Rose''s mind. He remembered Minamo''s family, his poverty, and how he had bravely fought to the brink of death. A sense of sorrow filled him.
"Minamo," he whispered. "Your body is now mine. But I will carry on your legacy. I will bring justice to your family and this world."
At that moment, the door to the hospital room opened. Minamo''s mother and sister entered, their eyes filled with tears and worry as they approached the bed.
"Minamo!" his mother cried, tears streaming down her face. "You¡¯re awake! Thank God, we thought we had lost you."
Perfect Rose looked at them in confusion. Minamo''s memories allowed him to recognize these women, but he didn¡¯t know how to act. Human emotions were new and complex to him.
"Yes... I¡¯m fine," he replied, his voice slightly tense.
His sister sat by the bed and took Minamo''s hand.
"We missed you so much, Minamo. You scared us. Why did you do something so reckless? You put yourself in danger!"
As Perfect Rose held his sister''s hand, he felt Minamo''s emotions. A warmth spread within him.
"Is this... what human love feels like?" he wondered.
"I¡¯m sorry," he murmured. "But I had to save her. I... I had to be this way."
His mother wiped her tears and smiled.
"You¡¯ve always been like this, Minamo. Always thinking of others. But please, don¡¯t put yourself in danger again. We can¡¯t lose you."
Perfect Rose felt a pang of guilt at these words. Minamo''s family loved him deeply. And now, he was the one carrying that love. Perfect Rose, now in Minamo''s body, began a new life, vowing to carry on Minamo''s legacy and bring justice to this world.
