《Chaos agents》 Found you The world trembles in its presence¡ªin the presence of its hungry king. Forever hungry, forever starving, an insatiable hunger that knows no bounds. It devours relentlessly until it bursts, unable to consume another morsel. Its demonic presence radiates an aura of GLUTTONY. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- The warm rays of the sun pierced through the window of a bedroom located in a small apartment. Inside said bedroom were scattered cup noodles and heaps of trash. "Grah" a groan could be heard as a young man slowly sat up from the dirty mattress he was laying down on. "What time is it?" He looked around disoriented as he rubbed his eyes. He stood up from the filthy mattress as he maneuvered his way to the bedroom door. He would step over the cup noodles and the trash most of which were lottery tickets. He left his bedroom, grabbed the remote, and turned on the TV, which was currently showing the news. "Late last night the north Eastern walls to the city of Felgardis were brought down by an Apex tier monster." At this the young mans faced shifted into a frown. "Guess that means more work for me then huh." The young man would say. ''Man, working in construction is the worst... But it''s the only way for me to pay of his debt.'' After standing there in his thoughts for a little bit longer the young man opened a door leading him to the bathroom. It had white walls with a small shower. He would look into the mirror and look at his reflection. Curly dark brown hair, streaked with lighter highlights, framed his face. His eyes had bags under them and he has dark brown pupils. He stood at about 5''10 with no shoes on and he has a lean build with a fair bit of muscle. He stopped staring at himself as he began removing his clothes in preparation to take a shower. Time skips to him putting on his shoes in front of his front door. "Ah shit I''m gonna be late!" He''d say as he burst out of the door and locked it behind him. "Hey Kian!" A voice called out just as he locked the door. Looking to his right the young man now named Kian saw a young boy looking to be around 12 years old. He had jet black hair with big round blue eyes. He looked to be around 5''2. "Oh Caleb how''s your dad doing it''s been a while since I''ve seen him outside." Kian would say as he walks up to the boy now named Caleb. "He''s been better. I honestly think he''s getting worse. Yeah sure he''s been sick before but never like this." Caleb''s voice had a sad tone as Kian ruffled his hair up with his right hand. "Hey he''s going to be fine so turn that frown upside down! Oh shit I gotta get to work soon otherwise I''ll be late!" Kian said as he ran off with Caleb waving at him. The scene changes to a bustling a vibrant city with people walking on sidewalks and cars passing by. Laughter and chatter filled the streets, people lived life unaware of the looming terror above. This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere. In the heart of Felgardis, a journalist adjusted his mic as the camera rolled. "And in other news, the reconstruction of the North Eastern Wall is set to begin today. Authorities assure us that no further attacks are expected¡ª" His voice cut off as a strange, burning light filled the sky with a strange red glow. Gasps and screams erupted around him as he looked up. And then everything turned to ash. The blinding red light crashed into the ground destroying everything in a 1000 meter radius. Almost everything and everyone within that radius turned to ashes. The shockwave tore through the city, toppling large buildings and hurling people through the air. The crater hissed from the impact as dust surrounded it. The surrounding area was deathly silent until... a small sound could be heard. Then the ground started trembling and a shadow shifted inside of the smoldering pit. Rising from the crater stood a towering, 9-meter-tall humanoid monster. It had an incredibly muscular physique with dark green skin It had two large horns forming a spiral formation. Black tattoos adorned their body picturing humans that formed a line eating each other in a spiral pattern depicting humans devouring one another in an endless cycle of suffering. A survivor within the pit groaned loudly, their entire body scorched. It had been a miracle that they were still alive. They tried to reach out to the hulking monster and begged for help thinking that they were there to rescue them. "P-please.... h-help me" They whimpered pathetically. "You are not the one I seek," the monster muttered, almost bored. The survivor''s breath hitched as a massive foot pressed against his chest. "P-please¡ I¡ª" An audible crack echoed out through the Crater left behind from his fall. The screams ended as quickly as they began. The monster lifted its foot, kicking the lifeless body aside like garbage. It sniffed the air, a slow, menacing grin creeping across its face. "So that''s where you are¡ I''ll have my hands on you soon. And when I do¡" The monster''s voice darkened. "Avarice will die." The scene changes to Kian currently in a busy blue bus full of middle aged men wearing heavy equipment. They were all wearing white jumpsuits with a red emblem on their chest. It read "Repair division." Kian would be leaning his head against the window on the right side of the bus. ''I hope Caleb''s doing okay. I know losing a parent at such a young age can leave mental scars on someone.... I of all people would know that '' "Hey Kian are you alright? You seem to be lost in your thoughts." An old looking man sitting to the right of him asked. "I know working in construction for the chaos agency isn''t easy especially for someone so young so make sure to take a break every so often." "I would love to old man Ross but I need to make enough money to be free of that bastards debt. I can''t waste a single da - Suddenly a blinding red light shines from the sky catching the attention of everyone inside of the bus. "W-what the hell!" Yelled a man sitting near the front of the bus. Kian looked up with shock on his face. The eerie glow of the falling orb was getting closer every second until eventually. BOOM! A loud bang rung throughout the area causing everyone''s ears to ring. This was eventually followed by a shockwave that ripped through the bus and all nearby buildings. Everyone inside of the bus were flying around with so much force that someone snapped their neck. The last thing Kian thought of before being knocked unconscious was ''I hope Caleb''s okay.'' ----------------------------------------------------------- COUGH! It had been who knows how long but Kian finally woke up. His vision was blurry but it''s not like it mattered anyways. He was about to die. A huge piece of glass was currently stabbing through his ribcage. He was going to remove it but he realized how stupid that idea was. However his thought process was cut short by the sound of heavy footsteps. Kian''s breath hitched as the heavy footsteps approached. A massive shadow loomed over him, its voice distorted, almost inhuman. He barely processed the words through the haze of pain- "Found you." ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- TBQ VF PBZVAT Hospital room It watches and watches without blinking. The monster draped in darkness and full of spite. Make way for a heart without any light. ----------------------------------------------------------- Thump-thump-thump The heavy sounds of rotor blades filled the empty and destroyed section of Felgardis with noise. A helicopter circled over as a news crew were filming the destruction from above. "Earlier this morning, the southern section of Felgardis was devastated by a monster attack. Fortunately, the creature is no longer in sight. According to the Chaos Agency''s Monster Tracking Division, it was classified as a Feral Menace-tier threat¡ªthe second-lowest tier. However, the situation remains critical. In response, the Chaos Agency has officially begun evacuation efforts." The news anchor would say as the scene cuts to Kian. His head was throbbing and to make matters worse the glass shard had seemingly gotten even deeper inside his ribcage. However his thought process was interrupted by the heavy footsteps approaching him. A massive shadow loomed over him, its voice distorted, almost inhuman. He barely processed the words through the haze of pain- "Found you." ----------------------------------------------------------- Kian shot up from the bed. ''W-was that a dream.'' No he still felt pain all over his body and the fact that he was in the hospital wasn''t helping him calm down either. ''Did I pass out?'' he''d wonder as he started standing up from the hospital bed. While doing so he''d notice a weird slit in his right palm. ''It kinda looks like a closed eye''. Kian clenched his fist, staring at the slit in his palm. Was it his imagination, or did it just twitch? He''d flexed his fingers, It didn''t hurt. In fact¡ he felt fine. Too fine. He shook off the thought¡ªno point in questioning a miracle. Suddenly a doctor would come through the door and hurry over to him. "What are you doing!? You need to rest. The procedure to remove the glass from between your ribs was extremely taxing on your body. You''re lucky that it didn''t pierce your lungs." The male doctor would say as he gently lay Kian back into the bed. "Oh sorry... What happened?" Kian would ask as he lied back down on the bed. "You don''t know? Well I guess that should be expected... The city of Felgardis was attacked by whats estimated to be a Feral manace tier threat." If you encounter this story on Amazon, note that it''s taken without permission from the author. Report it. Kian''s breath hitched. His fingers clenched the bedsheet as his mind raced to piece together the fragments of his memory. ''So that''s what happened. If that''s the case then what was that figu...'' "Wait have you seen a scrawny kid with Jet black hair in this hospital!" Kian would say with worry in his voice. His hands shaking and him looking like he would break down at any bad news. "No I don''t think so but don''t worry whoever you''re talking about has most likely been evacuated to the capital city Amita." At that moment a huge weight was lifted off his shoulders. He slumped into his hospital bed as a small smile crossed his face. ''Calebs okay'' He would then sigh as he began speaking. "Do you know if there are any more planned evacuations to Amita?" The doctor would slightly tilt his head and be deep in thought before snapping his fingers. "Yeah the last evacuation helicopter should be arriving in the next 4 hours. But if you''re planning to get to it then you''ll have to be careful." Kian would look curiously at the doctor as he''d ask "Why would I need to be careful?" "Well because of the attack nobody was working on fixing the north Eastern walls and most of the chaos agents were working on evacuating all the citizens. Due to this a small group of about 15 scourge tier monsters managed to get inside." "Huh 15 of them? Don''t they usually gather in groups of 5!" Kian would yell as his heart began to pound inside of his chest. This meant that the chances of Caleb making it out alive to be even less likely. ''Even though scourge tier monsters are the weakest types they usually gather up in large groups. Even just 15 of them could tear through the remains of Felgardis. This could just be a normal attack. But this didn''t feel normal. All of this destruction makes it seem like a planned incident but no monster is that smart. Alongside the destruction of the North Eastern walls followed by the attack... something isn''t adding up.'' Kians thoughts would be interrupted by the doctor calling out for him. "Oh sorry I must''ve been really deep in thought." He''d say embarrassed. "It''s fine although you''ll have to get going soon if you plan to make it to the evacuation helicopter." The doctor would proceed to begin his checkup looking over Kian. "Amazing, even though you were just in a gruesome accident a few hours ago you seem completely fine and are in no pain." Kian would look over himself as he started back at the weird slit on his right palm. He''s open and close his hand as if doing it enough would make it disappear. "Well I suppose you can leave now. You seem completely fine other than some already healed scars on your back. Although I''m incredibly hesitant on letting you leave the hospital alone. Honestly, I have no idea how you''re even standing. Most people would still be unconscious, but you''re... perfectly fine. It''s unsettling. But it''s ultimately your decision if you want to leave." Kian nods at the doctor as he speaks. "I just realized that I never asked for your name." He''d say as he sheepishly scratched the back of his head. "Oh, my names Joseph." ----------------------------------------------------------- The time skips to Kian walking through the doors of his hospital room and breathing in deeply before covering his nose with his right hand. "Ugh I forgot how hospitals smell like." He''d walk through the hospital halls that were illuminated by bright white lights that buzzed non stop. He''d occasionally look through open doors and see people with missing limbs, serious burns, and broken bones. ''This must be because of the Monster attack... This is terrible. Old man Ross is probably dead along with everyone else on that bus.'' Kians expression would darken as he tightened his fists to the point of them turning white. "Yo Kian, are you ready to leave." A voice would call out from behind him. Joseph would walk past him holding a clipboard. "Oh yeah I guess. I''ll need to leave soon if I plan to make it to the evacuation helicopter." They''d continue walking until they reach the entrance of the hospital. "I guess this is goodbye. Thanks for helping me recover!" Joseph would nod with a soft smile on his face. "No need to thank me. I didn''t do much... It''s strange though your body healed on its own. Your profile never said anything about you having access to magic." He''d say as he tapped his chin." "I don''t know what happened myself but all the injuries I sustained during the crash disappeared. I don''t know if it''s magic but whatever it is I''ll find out eventually." Joseph nodded before waving Kian off. As Kian turned the corner he''d reach for his ear before speaking. "The subject appears stable for now.¡ but his aura¡ªit''s not human. It''s a monster''s." Escape from Felgardis part 1 The gluttonous king resides inside his of his domain. He ravaged through villages in the olden days. Monsters quaked, humans vomited by his presence alone. He the Corpse of Indulgence. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Three words "I give up". Those words can make or break someone. Those words decide the rest of your life. It doesn''t matter how strong or weak you are. The only thing that matters is your mentality. Amid a mountain of the dead, it stood. A dragon of impossible scale. Each of its four colossal wings stretched beyond the horizon, shrouding the land in darkness. It loomed above the clouds, its body as dark as the endless night, streaked with intricate lines of a brilliant gold. Two magnificent horns crowned its head, jutting in opposite directions like split paths. Beneath its feet, corpses lay ¡ªso mutilated, so far beyond recognition, that not even memory could piece them back together. He''d chuckle and that chuckle would turn into full blown manniaclle laughter. He was mad, mad with anger. That worm... How dare he! Instead of staying and dying with honor he ran away and escaped to the otherworld. "He dare defy me, the great dragon of greed! Everything in this world belongs to me! That includes his pathetic life!" If the dragon had a face more suited for emotions, it would be scowling. "Foolish little brother, you won''t escape. Especially not with that power of yours." ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- A loud roar echoed off in the distance causing Kian to slightly flinch. ''Shit the scourge tier monsters were way closer to the hospital than I expected. If I get too close they''ll definitely spot me. Kian weaved between buildings, ducking behind trash cans at every noise. ''Why am I even hiding like an idiot? They¡¯ll spot me either way.'' ''Joseph said that the evacuation helicopter would be landing 30 minutes south of the hospital on foot. I should be able to make it in time if I don''t get spotted by those monsters.'' A gutteral scream mixed with crying echoed from around the corner. Kian poked his head out of the alley but soon wished that he didn''t. Their guts where everywhere. The monster showed no mercy as it ate the insides of a middle aged man. The relatively small wolf like monster raised its head up and looked around. Kian immediately ducked back into the alley. If it could turn that color his face would be puke green. ''It looked like he was still alive. At least it should be distracted whil-'' Kian¡¯s thought process was cut off when a jackrabbit-like monster screeched from a nearby rooftop. ''Shit'' as soon as the other monster screeched at Kian the other monster started racing at him hoping to get another meal. The Jack rabbit followed closely behind. Kian booked it as soon as the damn rabbit screeched at him. ''I still need to get to Amita so I can protect Caleb.'' He ran between buildings and made sharp turns trying to shake them off. The Jack rabbit looking monster following closely behind him. You could be reading stolen content. Head to the original site for the genuine story. ''Its just toying with me! It could easily catch up right now!'' he thought when he spotted it''s shadow right behind him. Although the wolf type monster wasn''t behind him anymore. As soon as that thought entered his mind a loud noise came from in front of him. ''Shit!'' The wolf type monster was now Infront of him having circled around to catch him off guard. It was charging at him with it''s mouth hanging open with blood smeared all over its maw. Time slowed as the wolf-like monster lunged at him it''s jaw opening wife ready to take a bite. ''MOVE! MOVE!'' Throwing his hands up on instinct, Kian feels the monsters teeth dig into his right hand but... Nothing happened, no flesh tearing, not even pain. Looking directly at the wolf-like monster Kian saw that the monster was dissolving? Kian watched on in shock as the monsters face started melting against his skin. The monster shuddered, it''s growling turning into a garbled disgusting sound. It''s flesh and bones turning into viscous red liquid that started rapidly spinning into the palm of his right hand. Coincidentally in the same place as that weird slit in his hand. As soon as it started, it stopped. The wolf-like monster was now nowhere to be seen leaving Kian feeling way stronger than he was before. "W-what the hell was that". He almost stopped to relax before he got reminded of why he was running in the first place. A piercing pain came from his left shoulder as he looked over to see the jack rabbit monster digging into it with its incisors. Almost instantly, Kian ignored the pain while raising his right arm and slamming his fist into its head. The monster let go disoriented as it backed up. ''I''ve never been this strong before? Did I gain magic powers?'' A flying kick slammed into his head while he was distracted, sending him crashing into the side of a building. ''I let my guard down!'' The jackrabbit monster didn¡¯t stop. It rained kicks into his gut, each blow forcing him deeper into the cracked wall. ''Shit, whatever that absorbtion thing I did was. I need it back now!'' With every brutal kick, the wall behind him split further, cracks spreading like a spiderweb. Kian¡¯s eyes darted around¡ªhe needed something, anything, to fight back. Luckily a fallen trash can lid laid on the ground right next to him. He used his right leg to kick it up to his arm. As soon he could feet it in his grip he slammed it into the neck of the monster causing it to stumble back. As soon as it was disoriented Kian tackled into it, knocking it onto the floor. He started wailing on it, throwing punch after punch into its face. Blood splattered across his hands as he pounded its face into the pavement. It tried to fight back but that was quickly stopped by Kian grabbing the lid and jamming it into its throat. As soon as he did that, the resistance stopped. Kian tumbled onto his back and sighed in relief. "Fuck, I probably just wasted time doing that.... Although." Kian stood up and approached the fallen monster. Kian hesitated, staring at his right hand. Slowly, he pressed it against the monster¡¯s lifeless body. The flesh rippled. Twisted. A sickening squelch filled the air as the creature¡¯s body collapsed in on itself, flesh and bone warping into that same thick, red liquid. The swirling mass coiled like a hungry vortex, dragging itself into his hand. The moment the last drop vanished, a wave of power flooded his muscles. Kian gasped, feeling himself grow stronger." The liquid swirled into his right hands palm filling him with strength. "I guess it only works when the opponent is dead? Then why didn''t the wolf not have to die? Come to think of it I did hear that magic was stronger when first awakened... Magic the ultimate weapon against the monsters. My ability seems to be just absorbing the strength of others once I absorb them. Interesting I''ve never heard of a magic type like that before." "Ah I''m going to be late for the evacuation helicopter if I don''t hurry!" He said as he started running south. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- A few minutes earlier in another location. Footsteps echoed down a long, dimly lit hallway. The rhythmic clack of boots grew louder¡ªthen stopped. The door creaked open. A man stepped inside, his piercing gaze scanning the room. His silver hair was streaked with age, but his posture was rigid, disciplined. A long white trench coat draped over his frame, paired with baggy white pants tucked into polished combat boots. Across the room, a woman sat at a desk, blowing a lazy bubble of gum as she glanced up at him. She had black hair and was wearing a white researchers coat. She had tight black jeans on and black high heels. Her purple eyes seemed to almost glow in the dark. "What''s up cap." She says in a lazy voice while after her bubble popped. "Good morning Sam, I just got a call from Joseph about an interesting individual that he discovered." He spoke in a serious tone as he walked towards the woman now known as Sam. "I need you to call the pilot for the last evacuation helicopter and tell him not to let someone by the name of Kian to enter. Afterwards I''ll need you to observe the surveillance cameras of Felgardis and tell me everything this person does." Sam looked confused as she started dialing numbers into a phone on her desk. "May I ask why, Captain? Don''t get me wrong, but you haven''t shown this much interest in someone since that Julius guy joined." "I need you to do this for me because I need to see if he can become an asset to the Chaos agency. If he proves to be a dangerous individual I''ll just kill him. After all everyone who has entered into a contract with a monster has turned into a monster themselves. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fun fact: Kians favorite sport is American football.
