《Xianxia scientist becomes a gangster in another world》 Chapter 1: Traitor ¡°Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Professor Robert!¡± A big round of applause resounded through-out the spacious room. A middle-aged man dressed in a black suit slowly moved towards the stage. His hair was half white, and half black, giving off a very mysterious aura. His face had numerous wrinkles, and freckles on it, greatly reducing his charm. This fact didn¡¯t seem to affect his confidence in the slightest. Raising his hands, he waved at the crowd with a big grin on his face. His smile leaned more to the hideous side, making one question the purity of his thoughts. The stage was cleverly illuminated by countless lights, bringing forward the good quality of the materials used to make it, as well as the extravagant clothes the people on it wore. As soon as Professor Robert stopped, a beautiful woman made its appearance from the backstage. She wore a tight red dress, and her long black hair was neatly arranged with a few ornaments. The dress perfectly accentuated her attractive body shapes, resulting in quite the treat for the eyes. She stopped in front of Prof. Robert, and with a beautiful smile, handed him a trophy. The trophy had the shape of a lightning bolt, and it was made from a rare type of translucent crystal. The large crowd applauded with even more fervor. After a few moments, it became quiet again. ¡°Congratulations Professor! Today is a big day for humanity. The ingenious method you created will make energy problems a thing of the past, and will allow us to take a big step into the future.¡± The host was in his thirties, and looked impeccable, be it clothes or natural charm. However, that was not important right now. ¡°Please tell us a few words about your work. Everyone is curious about how such a marvelous idea came to be.¡± Prof. Robert made a great effort to get rid of his grin, and maintain a composed expression. Alas, it seemed to be an impossible task for him. The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement. ¡°Thank you everyone! The secret is passion. Passion and hard work!¡± Extending his hand, the professor started to talk with great fervor about these two notions. Backstage, a young man watched him attentively. His eyes were barely blinking. Unlike the other young adults, his attention seemed to be containing something else. Rage. Thick veins appeared on the young man¡¯s neck and forehead. Gnashing his teeth, he looked like he was just about to murder someone. ¡°However, all of this wouldn¡¯t have been possible without the help, and support of a certain someone,¡± said the professor while pausing for dramatic effect. Hearing these words, the young man¡¯s gaze softened considerably. This time, he looked forward with some excitement. ¡°A certain someone that I feel like it deserves to be here by my side¡¡± His pauses made the crowd boil with curiosity. After all, this was the first time such words were spoken. ¡°That person is none other than my dear girlfriend Rebeca!¡± Another beautiful, young woman made its appearance from backstage. She was even more extravagantly dressed as the first one. She quickly came by the professor¡¯s side. Looking at the two of them was like looking at a chicken and a swan. Such a match would be almost impossible under normal circumstances. A few people from the crowd grinned with some ridicule in their eyes. ¡®Would you look at that¡the geezer sure has great taste,¡¯ thought the host while still acting like nothing unusual happened. He was full of derision towards the crook. Nevertheless, unlike the scientist, he was a master at masking his emotions. The woman made a shocked expression: ¡°This is so sudden¡ I never expected¡¡± Her face, eyes, and body behavior were top-notch, and in full accordance with the words she spoke, and the feelings she tried to convey. ¡®What a bitch!¡¯ thought the other woman who handed out the trophy. As for the host, he was far ahead of her in terms of acting, and knew everything was a farce the moment she stepped on stage. ¡®This should be interesting¡¡¯ Just as he was thinking about this, he saw a human figure running towards them. A young man from backstage came running towards Professor Robert. His eyes were bloodshot, and his speed kept increasing by each fraction of a second. ¡®Levi?! Why are you here?!¡¯ thought the professor, great shock clearly visible in his eyes. Levi looked like a madman. With only a few meters between him and his teacher, he exerted all the force he could muster, and jumped. Levi¡¯s feet took off the stage, and in the next second he was already on top of Prof. Robert, with his hands tightly wrapped around his neck. ¡°You fucking snake!¡± Robert¡¯s face soon turned purple. Fortunately, the guards were present, and in mere moments came beside Levi, swiftly immobilizing him then taking him off the stage, out of everyone¡¯s sight. ¡°You traitor!¡± these words still echoed in the big room. Silence. Chapter 2: All according to plan In the blink of an eye, what was supposed to be a great day turned into something very miserable. Being forcefully taken away by the guards, Levi could no longer see whatever unfolded on the stage. However, the last image he saw was very satisfying. Dread and embarrassment were clearly visible on Prof. Robert¡¯s face. ¡®Everything is going according to plan C,¡¯ thought Levi while his twisted expression returned to normal. He now had a calm and serene gaze, like he was an entirely different person. The guards shuddered for a short moment, then looked at each-other: ¡®This person is crazy!¡¯ In their line of business, such situations were rare, but still happened from time to time. Having ample experience as bodyguards, this wasn¡¯t the first time they encountered such a situation. Despite that, what happened this time certainly took the first spot. The transition from ¡®crazy¡¯ to ¡®normal¡¯ was too swift. Levi did not put up any physical resistance whatsoever, nor was he bothered by what was happening. The guards were some muscle gorillas, way over six feet tall, making any physical resistance futile anyway. In fact, if they wanted, they could snap his body in half in mere seconds. In spite of that, Levi looked like he was in full control over the situation. ¡°Don¡¯t try anything stupid!¡± said one of the bodyguards with a fierce gaze. He was trying to apply some fear into the other party. His tactic failed miserable, and what he received was nothing but a disdainful gaze. At that moment, the guard felt like a total idiot. Swiftly, and without anything unusual happening, Levi was put inside a police car, and taken under arrest for twenty-four hours. . . . This wasn¡¯t the first time Levi was held into custody, so he felt like home. Extending his hands, Levi stretched his stiff body. He wasn¡¯t a very active person when it came to physical activities, but had good genetics. This aspect allowed him to spend more time on his research. Lifting his right leg up, Levi smashed it hard against the floor. He wasn¡¯t superman, so nothing extraordinary occurred. The guard happened to look his way at that moment. ¡°Everything ok?¡± he asked with a scornful face. The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident. Levi grinned weirdly: ¡°Everything is fantastic! It¡¯s not like I¡¯m being forcefully held in this shitty place.¡± The guard¡¯s smile disappeared. All of a sudden, he wasn¡¯t anymore in the mood to talk, so he left. Looking at the hideous pale blue of the walls, Levi¡¯s smile also vanished: ¡®It is done!¡¯ The moment he smashed his foot into the floor, a certain device from his shoe activated. That device was connected to a few bombs he secretly placed in Prof. Robert¡¯s private lab, as well as his secret place. Levi¡¯s eyes became unfocussed. All of a sudden, he felt empty inside: ¡®Now what?¡¯ Since as long as he could remember, Levi was smarter than anyone around his age. This brought some sadness when he was younger, but nothing that he couldn¡¯t handle. After all, having almost nothing in common with the other kids was a little troublesome. Of course, there were benefits as well. Money, recognition, praise, and much more could be easily attained. Levi¡¯s desire, however, lied in another place. His childhood dream was to be able to effectively harness, and store the power of lightning. A big dream even for him. The challenge was epic, and the problems that had to be resolved were many. However, the biggest hurdle he had to face wasn¡¯t related to science, but to his behavior. Along with his genius, he had one more special thing about him. He would get angry very fast, and after a certain point, could no longer control his actions. With time and age, there were some improvements in this regard, but nothing major. Because of that, he would often get into all kinds of trouble. To fix this kind of issue, he had to plan ahead in almost every situation. The situation with Prof. Robert was a good example. He knew that such a thing would happen, and had already prepared around ten solutions to solve the situation. Plan C wasn¡¯t the best, but he felt that he had to take this route. Despite all the impediments, his life goal was achieved. From his point of view, humanity was undeserving of such a gift, so the version he exposed to Prof. Robert was a faulty one. As for the genuine version in his secret laboratory, he has already decided to destroy that too. And such, a feeling of emptiness took over. After all the years of hard work, and with his objective completed, he was now in dire need of a break, to sort out his life. Then again, there was something he failed to take into calculation. The energy resulting from the explosion of the laboratories should have scattered towards the skies without anything abnormal happening. That did not happen. Instead, the energy resulting from the explosion of the faulty project combined with the energy of the authentic one despite the distance. That, plus a few other factors, contributed to something very abnormal. ¡°Hey, is that watch broken or something?¡± asked Levi after seeing that it was still two in the afternoon. ¡°Fuck!¡± Due to the distraction, the guard lost the game that he was playing on his phone. Comparing the time that the watch from the wall indicated with the time indicated on his phone, he said in a grumpy manner. ¡°It¡¯s two and five minutes, the watch is not broken.¡± Hearing his answer, Levi¡¯s pupils constricted. The guard took a few good moments to notice that something was wrong. ¡°Why the fuck is it so dark outside? Is a big storm coming?¡± Going towards the window, he took a look outside. After a few moments, he stumbled back, and fell on his ass. ¡°Shit! Shit! Shit!¡± in the next moment, the guard bolted to his feet, and ran outside, disappearing from sight. Chapter 3: Portal From his position, Levi could not get a good glimpse about what was happening outside. Keeping his calm, he went towards the locked door. Putting his hands through the metal bars, he typed a few numbers on the digital lock, then opened the door. Just seeing the guard moving his hand was enough to figure out the code. It was rather simple dealing with digital locks, and he found them less effective than the traditional ones. Going towards the window, he also looked outside. For a few moments, he froze in place. Countless dark clouds inundated the whole sky. If it was just this, it wouldn¡¯t be a big deal, however, there was more. Right on top of the city, the clouds started to spin like crazy. A massive amount of lightning quickly formed all around. It was almost like doomsday had arrived. ¡°What is happening?¡± Going outside, Levi took a better look at the sky. Countless hypothesis ran through his head. Alas, he could not come up with any scientific explanation whatsoever. ¡®Could it be¡¡¯ His mind drifted to the labs he destroyed. ¡®According to my calculations, nothing important should have happened from the explosion of the labs¡¡¯ He certainly could have made it worse, but not to such a grand scale. Furthermore, he had no intention of harming innocent people. ¡°Magnificent!¡± Levi¡¯s heart started to race. He had so many questions, and was eager to find out the answer to all of them. At this point, more and more people started to notice that something was wrong. Some started to run away, some took shelter, and a few of them watched the sky with great interest. After a few more moments of observing, Levi¡¯s excitement was accompanied by fear. ¡®If this continues, the city will be wiped out from the face of the earth by tomorrow.¡¯ The speed at which the clouds were spinning was increasing considerably with each passing second. ¡®How can I stop this?¡¯ the answer to the question came quickly. It was impossible. No matter from what angle he looked at the situation, he could not figure out a solution. If he had more time, he was confident in finding some sort of answer, but there wasn¡¯t such a thing. This book''s true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience. ¡®Even if I take a car, I won¡¯t make it out¡¡¯ Fear of death started to kick in. Levi was experiencing for the first time such powerful emotions. He was almost one hundred percent sure he would die if things continued to evolve at that pace, even for a few more minutes. ¡®I don¡¯t want to die yet¡¡¯ it was only at such a critical moment he found out that there were still many things he wanted to do. ¡®How funny¡¡¯ having such strong feelings of wanting to live shortly after he felt like there was nothing else for him to do was rather funny. ¡®I guess that only in a critical situation you can find out certain things about yourself.¡¯ Despite that, he didn¡¯t fall into despair. ¡°Let¡¯s go!¡± He was adamant in at least trying to do something. Levi started to run towards a certain place, while his mind started to race for potential solutions. All that became meaningless after just a few seconds. A powerful gust of wind came out of nowhere and literally lifted him into the air, throwing his body towards the skies. Everything started to spin and twist, and Levi could no longer tell which way was up, and which way was down. Even if he was ten times smarter, escaping from such a predicament was impossible with his current physical abilities. Eventually, his body was thrown right into the middle of the storm that was brewing. Everything became dark. . . . Levi¡¯s eyelids trembled, and he slowly opened his eyes. ¡®What is going on?!¡¯ He had a serious headache, and his senses weren¡¯t working properly. The moment everything seemed to return to normal, he felt a hand on his neck. The grip was firm, and his body was soon lifted into the air like it was weightless. Now, he could clearly see what was happening. In front of him was someone that could be best described as a savage. An overly developed physique, and a murderous gaze. This kind of person was currently holding him up into the air like it was nothing. Levi¡¯s eyes started to absorb every piece of information from his vicinity. The man wore only a pair of shorts, and a great number of tribal looking tattoos could be seen all over his body. He had long, dense hair that was nonchalantly tied into a ponytail. Next to him were a few other individuals that appeared to be from the same group. All of them had tattoos, and looked like they were fit enough to participate in a gladiator match right away. The facial characteristics were slightly different, and the amount of muscle varied. Nonetheless, all of them were way above average when it came to body constitution. As Levi was scanning everything in the vicinity, those people started to talk among themselves. The words that came out from their mouths weren¡¯t similar to anything he heard before. There was a simple bed, a table with a few chairs, and a huge box. The bed was covered with some kind of fur, and so was the ground. The fur on the ground was from a single piece, and its size was enormous, making it a real challenge to guess from what creature it came. His current location was a one room wooden house. It was quite spacious, and it had no door, making it possible to see whatever was outside. The moment Levi looked into the distance, the moment his heart started to beat like crazy. His eyes were full of passion and desire to analyze every single thing. ¡®One mystery after another¡¡¯ The corners of his mouth turned upwards, and in the next second he started to laugh like a madman. At this moment, the once lost passion returned, and it was bigger than ever. Chapter 4: Village in the middle of nowhere His laughter only lasted for a short amount of time. The grip around his neck tightened, making it hard to breath. ¡®Shit, at this rate, my neck is going to snap.¡¯ Rage started to boil inside Levi. Right when he wanted to live the most, he was faced with death. Focusing all the power he could muster, Levi kicked the man that was holding him right into the chin. The outcome wasn¡¯t what he expected. ¡®Nothing?¡¯ he was rather shocked. While he might have neglected his body, he was still a young adult, and such a kick, directly to a sensible spot, should have at least produced some small results if not knocking the man unconscious. A wave of laughter followed. This time, it came from the other party. Being in such a situation was rather depressing. Giving up wasn¡¯t an option, after all, his life was on the line. Levi¡¯s body moved almost instinctively, this time, trying to kick the man in the eyes. This kind of strategy was sure to have some result, no matter how small. Unfortunately, the grip tightened even further, sapping him from any kind of power. Whatever strength he had left was focused on trying to breathe, and free his neck. Nothing else mattered at that moment, except those two things. Levi¡¯s vision was getting blurry, and his strength was fading away. When everything seemed lost, something happened. A gust of wind blew in his face, and with it, a new figure arrived. The savage was startled, and wanted to do something. Alas, he felt a punch drilling into his stomach, making him involuntarily fold into two. For a second, everything became quiet. The silence was interrupted by Levi¡¯s desperate attempts to inhale some oxygen. He was coughing and gasping for air in a very unsightly manner. Thankfully, the sudden intervention of the new arrival allowed him to escape from death¡¯s door. Widening his eyes, Levi analyzed the situation, despite the fact that he was still coughing like there was no tomorrow. The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation. The new arrival appeared to be from the same type of people. Shockingly, it was a girl. Her physique was in tip-top condition, but nowhere near to the man''s she just punched. Her body was very attractive, and resembled that of a model with good genetics. Based on appearance alone, it was impossible for such a feminine looking girl to have so much strength. ¡®What the¡?!¡¯ Levi was yet again surprised. At this point, he might as well throw on the window some of the basic knowledge that he knew. Clearly, it didn¡¯t apply here. The savage said a few words in a very weird, unnatural way. His murderous gaze from before was nowhere to be seen. His words were met with a cold stare. The girl said a few short words, lifted her leg above her head, then smashed it into the head of the savage. The sound produced by the impact was enough to make everyone present shudder. The girl wore a short skirt made of leather, and a pair of shorts underneath. The skirt had slits on both sides, allowing her to perform moves similar to the one she just did. Her breasts were covered by bandages, and so were her shins. The other men quickly took their buddy, who, strangely, was still alive, and ran away without as so much looking back. Now, there were only two people inside the shelter. The girl had long, black hair, and part of her body was also covered in tattoos. It was, however, different from the rest. A dragon image extended from her right arm towards her back, and also towards her breasts. Her left leg had a similar tattoo, albeit, a little smaller. She looked right into his eyes. One of her eyes was red, and the other yellow, giving her a very mysterious aura. For a few moments, Levi looked at her with great interest, almost wanting to conduct some experiments right away. Alas, such a thing would not be wise. ¡°Thank you!¡± he bowed slightly, expressing gratitude with his body language. Pointing at himself, he said: ¡°Levi!¡± The girl ignored him, went towards a chair, and sat down. She was looking at him without saying anything. Apparently, she was in no mood to try to talk. ¡®I see¡¡¯ Massaging his neck, Levi turned his back towards the girl, and walked towards the entrance of the hut. In his line of sight were numerous huts, similar to the one he was currently at. People were moving back and forth, laughing, and talking among themselves. It wasn¡¯t hard to figure out that he was currently in some kind of primal tribe. The puzzling thing, however, wasn¡¯t this, but something else. Looking further away into the distance, Levi could see enormous mountains spanning as far as his eyes could perceive. Those weren¡¯t normal mountains. Most of the peaks were high into the clouds, making it hard to guess just how tall they were. The same thing could be said about some trees. The vegetation around the village was also different. Except for the grass, it was the first time seeing those plants, and flowers. Chapter 5: An interesting idea, After a quick glance outside, Levi came back inside. He slowly got to the girl¡¯s side, at a reasonable distance, and stayed on his feet, obediently. He did not cause a commotion in the slightest. In fact, he was so silent that his breath could barely be heard. Judging by everything that happened, a normal person would freak out, try to run, or start to ask various questions, overwhelmed by negative emotions. All that did not apply to Levi. He was by no means a normal individual, and his behavior clearly showed that. He was obviously afraid of pain, and danger, however, his curiosity and excitement were far greater. Despite that, running carelessly, or causing any commotion among people that could instantly snap his neck wouldn¡¯t be a wise move. The girl gave him a long look, clearly not expecting his behavior to be so composed. Levi looked calm, but his brain and heart were on overdrive. Every small detail in his surroundings was carefully analyzed, and a few explanations for his current situation already took shape. Some of them seemed a little far-fetched, but at this point, common sense had to be modified. Leisurely sitting on the bed, the barbarian girl took out a bright gem the size of a nut. After a few moments, the bright red gem became even brighter, and started to emanate red energy. It was quite the sight. ¡®What is that?¡¯ Levi¡¯s whole attention was on the scene that was currently unfolding in front of his eyes. Most of the energy entered the girl¡¯s body, while some dispersed all around. The further the energy travelled from the gem, the thinner, and less visible it became. Some of it reached Levi¡¯s body as well. ¡®This¡¯ His body was like a dry sponge that came into contact with water for the first time in a while. Levi watched with wide eyes as his body slowly absorbed the energy. Love this novel? Read it on Royal Road to ensure the author gets credit. He could step back, and avoid it, however, his curiosity made him freeze in place. After a few dozen minutes, his body started to feel better and more energetic. It was like drinking a few liters of coffee. ¡®Marvelous!¡¯ Just as he expected, the energy was having a positive effect on his body. Unconsciously, he moved closer towards that gem. The girl gave him a cold look, making it obvious she wasn¡¯t pleased by his actions. Levi came to an abrupt stop. No matter how curious he was, getting closer to the barbarian after receiving such a cold look would be just pure recklessness. A few drops of sweat came down his face, and fell to the ground. Unless she gave him another cold glance, Levi decided not to step back. Minutes soon turned into hours, and before he even noticed, it was already the next morning. Despite sitting all that time on his feet, and not sleeping at all, Levi felt more energetic, and stronger than ever. Alas, the energy from that gem became weaker with each passing hour until it barely emitted any energy at all. ¡®What an extraordinary thing¡¡¯ From a scientific approach, that little gem was full of mysteries, and was basically screaming ¡®come and research me!'' ¡®This¡¡¯ That little gem was actually very similar to the device he worked his entire life to create. The difference was, however, that that little gem appeared to be in its natural form, and a product by nature. ¡®What if I could also absorb energy from that device of mine that stores electrical energy?¡¯ The thought came like a huge boulder smashing against his head. From what he currently witnessed and experience, such a situation wasn¡¯t impossible. ¡®I just need to convert that energy to something similar to this¡¡¯ his eyes glanced again on that little gem. The implications were huge, and a successful experiment could change the entire human society. The girl got up from the bed, and started to stretch her body. The various positions put her enticing body on full display. Levi¡¯s thoughts were distracted. Her exquisite body shapes, together with her beauty and the huge amount of energy that still lingered on his body, made for quite the reaction. Levi¡¯s body heated up, and he got a full boner in a matter of seconds. ¡®What?!¡¯ his body reaction was pretty much automatic, and he couldn¡¯t stop it no matter how much he tried to focus. ¡®I guess I¡¯m totally healthy,¡¯ thought Levi, laughing inside. He was also a little embarrassed by what happened. Dropping to the side, he started to do push-ups. That energy had to be put to good use. Considering that the people he saw were absolute human freaks, having a little more physical strength could prove to be quite handy(.)
