《I've Been Transformed Into a Mouse Warrior and I Like It》 A New Land David is a fairly average african-american male of 44 years of age. He was browsing the Internet for assorted things and tripped over a site with furry art that ranged from adorable to quite raunchy. He figured he might have an interesting experience trying out one of those "interactive story" things, something he''d never tried before. He decided to try the one called "TF Nightmare" because it had some sexy pictures and he figured it''d lead to an interesting experience. He was wrong. Very wrong, but not in the way he expected. The story started off fairly promising, with him being drawn into the world of the thing, but his adventure took a strange turn when his character somehow ended up turning into an attractive female rat-person. His avatar, which had started out looking like a stylized version of himself, now had a feminine body and a rat''s head, complete with whiskers. To David''s shock, as soon as this happened he suddenly felt very strange, as a tingling sensation ran over him from the top down, focusing on the end of his spine and the tips of his fingers. A chill ran through his backside. He felt his backbone stretching and writhed, then sat still, shocked. He looked at his fingers and saw his fingernails and cuticles turning black and elongating into claws. His spine tingled again, and this time he felt his butt get heavier, and then fuller, fleshier. He got out a gasp, but it sounded cracked and changing. He felt something soft brush his legs and reached a hand up to his lip. Something touched his fingertips. A long, thin, sensitive whisker, with two more on either side. He opened his mouth and ran his tongue across his teeth. They were flat in the front and growing steadily. "What the heck is going on?" he said, and was shocked at how high his voice was becoming. He heard a knock behind him and turned around. "Hey, is everything all right?" came his mother''s voice, sounding far lower than usual, and he gasped in shock, his chest feeling larger and heavier. "Everything''s fine," he called out, hoping his mother wouldn''t notice the changes. His mother left, and David looked back to the computer, shocked and scared. His skin had turned a dull gray color, and his nose and mouth felt strange. He reached up and felt, and sure enough, his nose was extending and merging with his upper lip, his jaws getting longer and thinner. His chest was getting heavier, and he glanced down, seeing his nipples darken and turn brown, his chest swelling outward into a pair of huge, heavy breasts, each one the size of a basketball at least. He looked at the monitor, and sure enough, his avatar was turning more feminine, growing a shapely pair of breasts and wide hips, with thick thighs. He felt his own hips and thighs getting wider and fuller, and his spine tingled again as his tailbone began to grow outward. A thick, fleshy, furry pole emerged from his jeans and extended, the fabric ripping at the seat, and he felt his hair curling and extending, a few inches at a time. He saw his forearms and hands turning black, and felt his ears twitching. He reached up and touched his ears. Each sent shocks of new sensations as they danced against the touches. He, er, she was a rat lady. She was a furry. And the worst part was, she had loved every moment of it. She laughed, hysteric and confused, but bouncing from foot to foot with an almost crazed smile. "Look at me." She looked herself over. A long black tail hung from the back of her jeans, now ripped open at the seat. Her breasts were larger, and her feet were much different. Her toes and fingernails were now long, sharp black claws. She was a rat, wait, no. Rats didn''t have fur on their tails, right? She grabbed and stroked along its furry length. That''s nice, she thought to herself, stroking her own tail. She was still thinking in a female way. She couldn''t stop herself. Not that she minded terribly. "Diseased human to buxom mouse lady? I''m taking it." She looked at the screen and read on, seeing what would happen next. She could feel her body itching as she grew taller and more powerful. Her muscles swelled up to match her growing frame. "I better stop this." She closed the tab. "I like what happened. Don''t need that changing." She stood, her muscles rippling as her legs and torso extended. The floor was a lot farther away than she remembered, and her pants and underwear were in danger of falling down. She unzipped her pants and slid them off, then stepped out of the legs and kicked the whole bundle to the side. "I am looking good." And feeling it, all the various aches of age and disease, banished. She looked at herself in her room mirror. The reflection showed a tall, muscular, feminine mouse. She looked at her own breasts. They were huge, each one the size of a basketball, firm and proud. She smiled at them and reached up to give them a squeeze. "Eh." It was fat, not some magical thing. She laughed at her silly assumption and turned to the computer. "Now¡ª" You might be reading a stolen copy. Visit Royal Road for the authentic version. Before she could do much more than touch her computer''s mouse, it all went to hell again. She was no longer in her room, but a dungeon. It was the dungeon she had been in, in the game. She looked around, and there was a door, just a few yards off. "This is going to suck, I just know it." She went to the door and found a note attached to it, with her name on the front. She opened and read it: Dear David, you''re not in your world anymore. You are trapped in my world, and there is no escape. This world is a world of transformation, where everything can change. You will never be the same. Fight well and fight hard, the strongest get to keep their forms, so long as they keep winning, and don''t do anything foolish. -Management David blinked, then read it again. She shook her head and crumpled the note, tossing it aside. "Bullshit." The door ahead was closed, and she had no key. She grabbed the handle and tried giving it a great heave with her new, powerful, arm. The door rattled in its frame and she felt the wood give a bit. Another tug and the door swung open, leaving a large, splintered chunk of it hanging onto the handle. David stared for a moment, then shrugged. "Well, I guess that works." She stepped through the doorway, finding herself in a large, dark room, the only light from the torch. She could hear the sound of running water and the distant sound of voices. She could smell food, and could feel the presence of others. "Hello?" she called out, and heard the voices grow quiet. "Is anyone here?" she called out again, and this time, there were no voices, just the sound of water, and the occasional rustle of fabric or the clink of metal. She grit her teeth, worrying about what was waiting for her as she cautiously stepped forward into the darkness. Her rodent eyes seemed more capable of seeing in the dark than her old human ones. Her eyes adapted quickly, and soon she could make out the rough outlines of the room. The floor was smooth stone, the walls were rough-hewn, and the ceiling was high. The air was cool, and the room was damp. The room had a few doors, one at each end of the room. She walked to the nearest door and tried the handle. The door was locked. She sighed and moved to the next door, and found that it was locked as well. Approaching the last one, she found it unlocked, and stepped inside. The room was small and dark, and a figure sat on the bed. It was a young girl, about ten years old. She had long hair, brown, with a slight wave to it, and wore a simple dress. David started with surprise. "Hello there. This is a dangerous place for a little one like you to be." The girl looked up, and David could see that she had brown eyes, a nose and mouth that were not exactly beautiful, but pretty in their own way. She smiled. "Hi. I''m Sally, and I''m a prisoner of the monster that rules this dungeon." David quirked an ear at that. "Monster? What monster?" Sally pointed toward the ceiling. "It is a great, big, horrible beast. It is covered in scales, and has a long, thick, forked tongue." She shivered. "It is the worst thing you could imagine, and it wants me to become a monster like it." David frowned at the description. That sounded very much like the kind of monster that''d be in that game. "I won''t let that happen. Hum, by any chance, do you have a weapon hiding around here?" Sally nodded and moved to a small, wooden chest. She opened it, and David saw a large, wicked-looking dagger. "Yes. The monster left it here, and I''m afraid it will use it to try and hurt us." David took the dagger and tried a few slashes in the air. "Alright. I''m going to go hunting. You stay here and safe until I get back, okay?" Sally looked worried. "But the monster-" David waved her off. "It won''t be a problem. I''ll be back soon." David turned to leave, but Sally stopped her. "Wait! Take this." She held out a necklace with a glass pendant. "It''s a magic item, it can save your life. If you wear it, the monster won''t be able to hurt you." David looked at the pendant. It was shaped like a heart, with a small, silver chain. "It''s nice." She put it around her own neck and it dropped right between her breasts. "Figures." She rolled her eyes with a chuckle. "I''m even cuter now." She left the room and approached the first door she had found locked. She put her hand on the handle and tried to open it, but the door held fast. She grunted and pulled harder, and the door finally gave way. Inside was a large room. The walls and the floor glinted with clear moisture. There was no light, except for that which came through the door, but it was enough to see the room was circular, and empty except for a large, black, oily shape that lay in the middle. The shape rose with a gurgling noise, rushing to attack David. David slashed at it with her dagger. A spray of black fluid splattered across her fur. The creature roared and reared back, and David went for a quick stab and the monster screamed. Feeling confident, David pressed his advantage, slashing at the monster wildly, cutting deep into the thing''s flesh. The monster was cut to pieces, and collapsed, twitching. David was breathing heavily, and her fur was soaked in the black ichor. She shook her head. "Ew, that''s gross." She wiped the dagger on the thing''s carcass and sheathed it in her belt. She looked at the corpse, and shuddered. She''d killed it. A sudden sharp tingle ran through her where she''d been splattered, the black gunk flowing over her, becoming a leather outfit that hugged her body in all the right places. "Hm." She looked at her outfit in a nearby reflective surface, posing and turning this way and that, and nodded. "Not bad, not bad at all. I bet I''d turn heads in this." She walked back to the cell and saw Sally sitting on her bed. "No troubles in here? There was a monster, but I''m guessing that wasn''t the boss." She shook her head. "You defeated the creature?" she asked. "But, that''s impossible. That creature was the strongest. It was a servant of the master." David smirked. "Maybe I''m a bit tougher than I look. Or there''s another monster. I don''t know. Either way, I''m going to get you out of here." Sally smiled. "Thank you." "Stay safe. I''ll be back." David left the room and went to the next door, finding that it was locked. Seeing as it had served her well so far, she pulled it powerfully and the door opened with a loud crack. To Adventure "Stay safe. I''ll be back." David left the room and went to the next door, finding that it was locked. Seeing as it had served her well so far, she pulled it powerfully and the door opened with a loud crack. This room was large and round, with a few torches on the walls. It was empty except for a small chest in the center of the room. David approached the chest and tried to open it. Unfortunately, that was when a trap was triggered. A dart shot out from the side, hitting David in the arm. The dart was coated in a substance that burned, and David yanked it out with a cry, throwing it to the ground. David felt her arm starting to burn, and she felt a strange tingling in her chest. A moment later, the inside of her armor felt wet. She was lactating, and a lot. David cursed, pulling the armor away from her skin. A steady stream of milk dripped from her nipples, splattering onto the floor. "Oh, great." She squeezed her boobs, trying to force the flow to stop, but it only caused more to come out. Worse yet, while the feel before had been little, it felt so much better now that she was leaking. "Is that part of that poison too?" She sighed, and did her best to ignore the sensations in her chest, instead opening the chest, finding a key inside. She picked it up, and then left the room. The burning in her arm stopped, but her breasts still leaked, and the feeling in her chest was still pleasant. "I''m not sure what''s happening. I hope it''s temporary." She went to the next door, unlocking it with the key and stepping into the final room. There were several anthropomorphic figures, all mice just like her. They were armed with swords, and wore armor. They stood, ready for battle, and David felt her heart sink. "Uh oh," she muttered. One of them, wearing a silver breastplate, stepped forward. "You already lost to one of us." They sounded male. Looking, glancing really, at those leaking breasts, he smirked. "And you''re marked as a brood-mouse." "A what?" David said, and then cursed. She''d been poisoned, and that poison was making her a brood-mouse, a mouse that gives birth to litters. She didn''t want that, that wasn''t right. "You heard me. Just sit down and let us take care of you, brood-mouse." The guard smiled and gestured to her. "We won''t harm you. We promise." David frowned, and then pointed her dagger at the guard. "I don''t want your promises. I want out of here." The guard laughed, and then drew his sword. "Then you''ll have to go through me." "I was hoping you''d say that." David lunged forward with a slicing motion. She missed, but she managed to cut the guard''s arm. The guard screamed and dropped his sword. David was surprised, but didn''t stop, slashing him again, and again. The other guards were stunned by the brutality of her attack, and could only stand and watch as their companion collapsed. The next approached with a heavy cudgel. David dodged under the first swing and stabbed him, and he fell, clutching his wound. The third and fourth guards were more careful, and David had to give ground, but soon they too were on the floor, bleeding and moaning. "I don''t know what this body''s stats are, but I''m loving it." David laughed at his good fortune. "Now that you''re all on the ground, one of you wanna tell me why you''re here?" They didn''t answer. Instead, they writhed in pain. "Fine," she muttered. She looked around the room and saw a door at the other end. She walked to it and pushed, and it swung open. It revealed a massive room with an equally massive creature in it. The dragon cracked open one eye to watch David. "A guard rat? Why are you here?" David stared, her mouth open. She was sure this was the master of the dungeon. She had to fight him. She had to win, or at least escape. "Answer me!" the dragon commanded, its voice booming. "Well, I was sent here to save a prisoner. But now I want out," David answered. "A prisoner? What prisoner?" David thought about it, then shrugged. "I don''t know." The dragon laughed, his deep, throaty laugh filling the room. "You''ve come to save someone you don''t even know the identity of? You are a greater fool than I am used to." David shook her head. "I''m getting out of here. And you can''t stop me." The dragon chuckled. "Perhaps. But before you go, I have a few questions for you." The dragon peered down at her. "How did you get in here?" David shrugged. "I was on the Internet, playing a game." She fidgeted in place. "And I became the character I was playing. Then I ran into a trap and I can''t stop leaking." The dragon tilted his head. "You are from the Other Side?" David nodded. "And you are trapped here?" David nodded again. The dragon looked at her curiously. "How can this be? No matter." He rose to his feet, a titanic member swaying beneath him. "Whatever you once were, you''ll at least make a distraction for me now." He raised a massive clawed hand and swatted her aside, sending her flying across the room. She landed on her back, the air knocked from her lungs. "Shit!" she wheezed, struggling to her feet. That dragon was far stronger than the other creatures she''d faced, but she wasn''t ready to give up. She ran forward, but the dragon was faster. He swung at her again, and this time she ducked under his claws and stabbed at his hand. He roared and pulled back, but the damage was already done. The dragon brought down its other hand, but a globe appeared around David, protecting her. David smiled. She had a protection spell! She could win! She ran forward and drove her dagger into the dragon''s foot, making him cry out and stumble backwards. He tried to crush her again, but the globe held fast, and her dagger cut him again. Unauthorized duplication: this narrative has been taken without consent. Report sightings. "Enough!" He slammed the ground in front of her. "I am no fool. This battle is trying. What do you want?" David paused, considering her choices. "I want to leave, with the girl." The dragon growled. "I will not allow you to leave with my prisoner." "Then we''ll see how this fight goes." David waved his dagger threateningly. The dragon snorted. "You are no match for me. I will destroy you, and then the girl. There is nothing you can do to stop me." David shrugged, then pointed her dagger at him again. The dragon slumped to the ground. "You really won''t surrender, will you? It will take too long to batter that shield from you, and you will hurt me far too many times in the process. What if we made a deal?" David crossed her arms, the dagger held loosely in her hand. "I''m listening." The dragon nodded. "You and the girl may leave. In exchange, you must give me one thing." He pointed to the heart necklace around her neck. "You don''t need that if you''re past me, do you?" David touched the necklace, then took it off. She looked at the dragon, then tossed it at him. "Alright. You can have it." The dragon caught the necklace in a massive paw. "Very well. Now, leave, before I change my mind." David dashed back into the dungeon to fetch the girl. "Good news!" David told her, "The dragon and I made a deal. He''s going to let us go. Let''s go!" Sally looked up at David and grinned. "Really?" she asked, jumping up from her bed and following David out of her cell. David ran into the main chamber with the dragon, Sally behind him. "Let''s keep going." She grabbed Sally, holding the girl as she dashed the rest of the way to the dungeon''s entrance. "Thank you!" Sally said as they emerged into the light. "Now, what''s your name?" She asked as she walked with David. "My name''s David. David Longtail." David looked at the girl, then at herself. "Though I''m not sure I can go by that anymore. I''m pretty much not David anymore." She looked around. The world was bright and open, the sky a brilliant blue and the grass a lush green. "People change a lot." She turned to David. "You look just fine as a David, or you can take a new name if you want." "Hmm. Maybe I''ll be called Daisy instead." Daisy smiled at the girl, and the girl smiled back. They began to walk together, and Daisy could see a city in the distance. "What''s that place?" She asked. "It''s the city of Raela, where everyone is happy. You''ll like it there." The girl smiled at Daisy. "You can be anyone you want in this world. It''s wonderful!" Daisy looked at the city, then at the girl. She reached for Sally''s head and ruffled her hair. "Seems I''ll be stuck here a while. Are they okay with, uh, this?" She waved over her oversexed form. "Sure, that''s why I''m in a child''s body. I can be anything here." The girl giggled, then hugged David. "I can be a child, an old man, a woman, anything at all." Daisy started at that admission. "Wait, so, you''re not actually a girl then? What were you, before you were a little girl?" She picks up Sally, walking along with her easily. The girl laughed and looked at the sky. "Before I became this, I was an old man, a powerful wizard, the most powerful in the land. I grew weary of my power and responsibilities, and decided to become a young girl, to enjoy the life of innocence and joy again." The girl looked at Daisy. "I don''t know who or what you were, but you were strong enough to defeat the Dragon and rescue me, and for that, I am grateful." Daisy was quiet a moment before she lifted her shoulders in a shrug. "You know what, I was a middle-aged man before. I really have no room to judge." She went in for a nuzzle on Sally''s neck. "It''s nice being young again, eh?" The girl giggled. "It''s a lot of fun! But I''ll probably be changing again soon." Daisy nodded. "Maybe I will too, who knows?" She chuckled, and then she saw her breasts were still dripping. "I wonder how I turn that off, though." She poked at one, watching it jiggle and sway. "Oh well, it''s not that bad. Just means a bit of a laundry bill." She continued to carry Sally, and as they approached the city, she saw the people there were also transformed. Some had animal features, others were entirely changed into animals, some were very short, and some were just as tall or were inanimate objects entirely. Nothing seemed entirely ruled out. Daisy set Sally down, and she ran ahead, giggling. "I have so much to tell you, and show you!" She turned and gestured for Daisy to follow, and Daisy walked after her. Daisy looked at the city, and then at herself. "This will take some getting used to." She smiled, and then she laughed, looking at Sally running ahead of her, her long brown hair trailing behind her. Daisy looked up at the sun shining above the city and smiled. "Well, this is my new life. I might as well get used to it." She began to skip, bouncing and jostling as she went. "That doesn''t hurt as much as I feared." It was like she had some kind of built-in athletic bra, nothing feeling like it was stretching or jostling painfully. "Sally, wait up!" "I can''t believe I''ve been cooped up so long!" Sally spun around and giggled. "Come on, we need to get to the guild house and tell the others!" "Guild?" Daisy asked, catching up and taking her hand. "Is that like an adventurer''s guild?" Visions of classic RPG guilds danced in her mind''s eye. "Will I have to register?" "Sort of, yes. You have to tell them that you want to join. Then they do some tests on you. I bet you''ll pass those real fast. Then you get a card." She skipped, holding onto Daisy''s hand. "They''ll even help you find a place to stay and help you get a job, if you need one." Daisy nodded. She needed money, so she''d need to find a way to earn a living. "That sounds great. Should I be worried about those tests? You make it sound like they''re easy to pass." Sally giggled. "They''re really easy! You just have to answer some questions and do some things." She pointed to a building in the distance, a large stone structure. "There''s the guild hall. Let''s go!" She began to run again, pulling Daisy with her. "Alright, alright." Daisy followed along, her hand held tightly by the girl. She was so much larger, but she laughed, knowing who was really in charge at that moment. "So, you were a wizard, can you still cast spells?" "Of course, but I like to be a girl now." She giggled and pulled on David''s arm. "Come on, hurry up!" Daisy shook her head and followed, and the two walked into the building, a large room filled with people, some of whom looked very odd. One thing they had in common was equipment. They had weapons, armor, and some trinkets of likely magical origin. "Hello." An older woman at the front desk smiled. "Welcome to the Adventurers'' Guild." "Hi, I''m Daisy, this is my friend, Sally. I was told to come here to register?" She went up to that front desk, looming over the older woman. Her tail swayed behind her. "What do I need to do?" The woman nodded. "Yes, of course. Please sign in here, and here." She pushed a paper towards them. "This is a basic contract. It allows us to track your progress, and if you need help, we can provide assistance." She reached down and pulled up a crystal orb. "When you''re ready, place your hands on that, then relax." "Alright, I think I understand that." Daisy leaned over the paper, her boobs pressing against the desk. "Do you have a pen I can use?" The woman passed a quill to Daisy, and she signed it with a flourish. She then placed her hand on the orb, which glowed brightly. "Alright, good." The older woman gazed into the orb, nodding at some things she could see. "Yes. Yes. Good." She made notes on her side. "And." She swiped once at the air, just to drop her quill with wide eyes. "Wow. Just, wow." She looked at Daisy, then at the orb. "Okay. So, um, first, you''re a very strong, um, mouse." Daisy grinned. "Your magic resistance is high, but in reasonable ranges, but your endurance is incredibly high, not to mention your physical power, and your speed." She cleared her throat and picked up her quill, writing more. "And you''ve got a lot of milk in you." She glanced up. "That one appears to be a venom, but it has no duration." "Uh, what?" Daisy looked down, embarrassed. "I was poisoned." "Yes, that happens." The woman looked at David, then at the orb again. "That''s all, I think." She looked from David to Sally. "You''re the only witness here. Has our mouse friend actually performed any adventuring before now?" "Um, she fought a dragon and won." Sally nodded. "And she defeated a whole bunch of monsters too." "Um, sure. I beat a lot of monsters. But I''m a total newbie, really." Daisy rubbed behind her head nervously. "A group of mice like me, and this ooze creature." She patted over her leather. "Where this came from." The woman nodded, then made another note. "Okay, I''ll mark you down as a first-class adventurer, for now." She handed Daisy a card. "Here, take this." "Thanks," David said, taking it. It was made of metal, with her name, a number, and a class. Her class was noted as "Warrior". "Cool, thanks." She put it away in her pouch, and then looked at Sally. "So, what now?" Safety If you come across this story on Amazon, it''s taken without permission from the author. Report it. Youre Mine Her tail swished from side to side, and she let her mind wander. She had started the day as a male human, and ended it a curvaceous mouse. "Worse ways to go through a day," she said aloud, before yawning and curling up. She didn''t have a plan, or a purpose beyond the research, and she wasn''t in a rush. She could rest, or explore, or just take it easy. A knock at her door made her jump a little. "Miss?" Someone knocked again. Daisy sat up. "Yes?" The door creaked open, and a young man, a rabbit-man actually, stood there. He was dressed in a uniform with a badge on it that read ''Janitor''. He looked at her and smiled. "Sorry to disturb you. I just wanted to introduce myself." It was then that he saw where Daisy was and how little she wore. His eyes went wide, and he blushed, turning away. "Sorry!" Daisy grinned. "It''s fine." She waved him in. "I don''t mind. What''s your name, and why''d you come?" "Oh, Cedric, ma''am." He backed into the room and closed the door. As nervous as he clearly was, she could see his short teardrop tail flicking excitedly behind him. "I''m the janitor, as the hat would say." He chuckled. "I, um, I came to say hi, and to offer my services." He cleared his throat. "If you want anything cleaned, I''m your man! I''ll also clean when you''re not here, so you can come home to a nice tidy space." "Thanks." Daisy smiled at him. "So, if I''m a mess, and I want help cleaning up, you''d offer to clean me?" She chuckled at that. "Sorry, I''m in a good mood." She got up to her feet, her breasts bouncing. Her tail swished. Cedric''s eyes darted to her chest, and he gulped. "Um, I''m sorry." He had dared to turn towards her. "If you do need cleaning, I can show you to the bathing area." She eyed the bunny-man and walked over to him. She placed her hand on his shoulder, and leaned in, whispering. "Are you sure? I''m kind of a big girl." She winked, and Cedric''s face flushed. She could feel his heart racing. She chuckled. "Relax, Cedric. It was just a joke. I''m sure the bathing area is fine." She then patted him. "You''re cute, and a little flustered." "For good reason!" He shrank back. "Sorry, didn''t mean to show, um, miss." He reached up for his face and bumped her too-close breast on the way. "Sorry!" She laughed gently and stepped back, giving him room. "It''s alright. I didn''t mean to make you uncomfortable. I''m just teasing." "I-I know, it''s just, um." He licked over his furry lips. "You look like a brood mouse, ma''am. I only heard stories about those. And you''re so, um, curvy." "Aw, you think I''m cute." Daisy smiled at him. "Thank you, that was really sweet. Now, how about you show me the bathing area?" She pointed to the door. "Lead on." He took off his hat and fiddled with it as he led her to the door. "I''ll show you to the bathing area. It''s in the basement. Um, but are you alright, here?" He looked around. "I usually clean places first. Miss, um, it said Daisy on the door." Daisy nodded. "That''s me, Daisy. I''m fine, thank you." She smiled at him. "You''ve been very helpful, and I appreciate it." She opened the door and waved beyond it. "Let''s go. I''ll follow you." "You don''t want clothes?" He glanced away. "Some animal folk don''t care much. Um, no rule about animal folk, so you don''t have to. Just, um, if you forgot. I wouldn''t mind." Daisy laughed softly. "I''m not forgetting. I just don''t want to be bothered with them right now." She closed the door and followed him down the hallway. They walked through the building, and down some stairs, to the bathing area. It was a large room, with several pools, and showers. It was also unisex, which surprised her a little. "We share a lot here, ma''am." He pointed at the showers. "They''re warm. I keep them clean. Oh, and if you want a towel, I can get you one." He pointed to where a collection of towels rested, waiting to be grabbed. "Now, um, animal folk often have preferences. Some are so densely furred they hate being wet for long. Others savor a good soak." He pointed at the various baths. "The blue one is nice, the green is a little hotter, and the red is a lot hotter." "Thanks." She grabbed a towel. "I think I''ll try the blue one." She walked to the pool and dipped her feet in. The water felt warm, and she stepped into it. It was a comfortable temperature, and she sank into it. The water was a soothing balm to her tired body. As a curious bonus, her breasts floated at the surface, as if the water was holding them up carefully. Cedric watched her, then glanced to the side. "I, I''ll leave you be. Please, um, enjoy your bath." He turned, and hurried away, his tail swishing behind him. Another person slid right in beside her. "Hey, new to school?" A male fox with a smirk of a grin. "What''s your major?" "Um, I''m not a student." Daisy looked at him and smiled. "I''m doing research." She pointed to her breasts. "I''m a rare specimen." "Oh wow, a brood mouse." He raised a pawhand and casually rested it right on her closer breast, feeling over it. "Rare indeed. Start as one, or become one?" "Become one." She didn''t push his hand away, though she didn''t lean into it, either. She just let it happen, enjoying it. "I''ve never been to university. How do you like it?" "Oh! Well, I specialize in magic. My major is conjuration. You know, making things pop in, or out, of existence." He chuckled a bit. "My minor is in transmutation. I can change stuff. I''m not terribly good, but I get by." Since she didn''t object, he goes right ahead with enjoying the texture of Daisy''s front. "I don''t know a spell that''d make a brood mouse though. I''ve never seen one before." He looked at her. "You''re really beautiful." He leaned closer. "It''s okay to touch you, right?" "Yes." Daisy nodded, and leaned into his touch. Part of her wondered why she was alright with the outright groping, but it felt nice, and he seemed pleasant enough. "Conjuration, huh? I don''t know magic, myself. My class is a warrior." She placed her hand on his shoulder, squeezing. "I can beat up monsters. I beat a dragon." "A warrior, huh? You''re really strong." He grinned. "And brave, too." He ran a hand down her arm, feeling the powerful muscles there. "Dang, seriously. You''re built in both ways." He laughed suddenly. "Almost jealous. I have to get by with my devilish charm." He grinned. "I''ve always wanted to meet a brood mother, but I never have." "I''m a virgin still, not a mother. So not quite right yet." She chuckled and gave his shoulder a squeeze. "Just a mouse with plenty of assets. Look, am I even a brood mouse? I''m only leaking because of this dumb trap I tripped over." "Well, yeah, you are. Brood mice have huge milk sources." He gestured at her breasts. "Yours are big enough, and I''m guessing they taste amazing. You could be a brood mouse even if not a mother." He leaned in closer, nose almost touching her breasts. "Now I''m wondering if you ever saw normal mouse-folk women before." "I have not, actually." She shook her head. "They have smaller tits, I guess?" She looked down at her own. "These are big for anyone, let alone a mouse. I''m guessing you have, and they''re not this big?" "They''re not." He grinned. "No mouse woman is even half that big. I''ve never met one that was." He flashed his carnivorous teeth. "We foxes are good at hunting adorable prey species. I''ve met quite a few mouse women. Most are slender, built more for running around quickly. You, on the other hand, are a brood mouse. You''re big and strong, and you have the power to feed an entire family, if not a village. Plus, you''re really beautiful." "Aw, you think I''m pretty." She smiled, leaning in to kiss his cheek. "I''ve heard that a few times today, and I''m starting to believe it." She nuzzled against his neck. "You''re a sweet guy." "Oh, I have my moments. If I''m not sweet, I''m a bit spicy. I''m a fox. I like a little excitement." He ran his hand down over her belly. "Now, we''re both clean and relaxed. Why don''t we retire to one of our rooms and work up a little sweat?" "Sounds like fun." She smiled and slid off the bench. She stood and stretched, and her breasts swayed. They were heavy, but she didn''t feel any discomfort and her powerful body didn''t mind that paltry weight. "Lead on, handsome." She followed him, thinking about what she was doing. She''d never been attracted to guys before, but now she was a curvaceous mouse woman. She wasn''t sure what was happening to her, but she was enjoying it. And she wasn''t in a hurry to stop. She was horny, and she liked the idea of having a good time with the attractive fox. He led her to his own room, where he opened the door. The room was larger than her own, and had a small kitchen area. "It''s like a studio." She wandered with wide eyes through his room, ogling everything on the way "Sure is." He shut the door. "I''m a graduate student. We get a bit more space and privileges. I have a kitchen. I have my own bathroom. And I have a bed big enough to share with someone." He waggled his brows with clear implications there. "I can''t wait to get a job after this." His grin was bright and genuine. "I''m going to be an enchanter and a crafter. I''ll make enchanted items for people." Daisy whirled on him, some parts of her jiggling quite a bit with the motion. "Enchantments? But I thought you were a conjurer? You''ll enchant things to conjured things? What sorts do you have in mind?" He chuckled, and sat on the bed. "Yeah, I''m a conjurer. But conjuration and transmutation go together well. I''ll be able to make things, and change them. And enchant them. It''ll be a lot of fun." He pat at the bed just beside himself. "Now, how about we have some fun? You''re really beautiful, and I''d love to get to know you better." "Sounds like a plan. What do you have in mind?" She sat on the bed, and leaned against him. She noticed that she was taller than him by at least a foot. "Little fox." He colored. "Mmm, not often I run into a prey that calls me small, but I think I could get used to that. Especially if you''re going to be the prey in the relationship." He winked. "So, how do you want to start?" Help support creative writers by finding and reading their stories on the original site. "Kissing?" She leaned into him and kissed his cheek. She was surprised to find herself enjoying it. She peppered down from his cheek to his neck, and she felt him shiver. He slid his hands along her body. "That feels really nice." He ran his fingers through her hair. "I like kissing. I like being close to someone." She nuzzled at his neck, and she nibbled on him. "Then let''s be, mmm, close." A little part of her was dancing. She was making out with a male, and enjoying the process. She''d never even been attracted to men before. She''d never been a woman either, but there she was, and she was enjoying it. He nuzzled back. "You''re really good at that." He kissed at her neck and shoulder, nibbling softly. He trailed his kisses along her collarbone, then down her chest. "Such a good mouse. Ready to be devoured?" He grinned with those sharp teeth. She chuckled, and nodded. "Oh yes." She leaned back. "I''m all yours, fox. Do your worst." He grinned. "Oh, I will. And you''ll love it." He tackled her, but she caught him. For him, the world spun wildly as she used his momentum against him and slammed him down into the soft mattress of his bed. She hadn''t even thought of doing that, only realizing what she had done a moment later. "Oh, wow. That was something else. Sorry, I didn''t mean to hurt you." She sat up and looked at the fox. ©¤Athletic Parry skill used. David blinked at the words hovering in front of her in a little window. "Oh. Oh dang it. This is still a game." "What is?" He rolled to his feet, looking at her. "Are you alright?" "I''m fine. It was a reflex. I''m a warrior. I guess that was a skill thing." She laughed nervously. "Maybe you shouldn''t be pouncing me, predator or not." She tried for a sultry look. "This mouse is too much of a warrior for that. It''s time the predator became the prey." Her tail lashed behind her in anticipation, and she stalked closer. "Now, you were saying something about devouring me?" Her voice had gotten husky. The warrior mouse was horny. He gulped and nodded. "I was. But, um, you''re not thinking of hurting me, are you?" "Only in ways you will thank me for." She leaned in close. "Now, fox, let''s see how much of me you can devour." She kissed him again, then let her lips trail along his neck, down to his chest. She pressed against his chest, forcing him to lay back as her other hand wandered down towards his groin. "I''m told animal people usually wear clothes, but here you are, naked as can be "It was a bath area. I didn''t want to get my clothes wet." He blushed and squirmed. "And I''m not totally sure that was the right choice." She chuckled. "Oh, it was a great choice." She grasped his balls and his furry sheath at once in her hand, gently squeezing the male''s package. She grinned, her own ears folding back. "I''m going to make you feel so good, you''ll be begging me for more." He moaned, and his tail twitched. "I can''t wait." His cock started to slide free of the furry sheath, and he grabbed for her head and over her round ears "Wow, eager, aren''t you?" She smirked. "Don''t worry, I''m going to enjoy this as much as you are." She kissed his shaft and balls, then licked along the growing length, savoring its taste. "It''s ti¡ª" ©¤Male analysis complete. A dizzying array of genetic information hovered in front of Daisy''s vision, giving her a full run down of what he had to offer as a male. She blinked at it a few times, unable to parse what she was being told. "Are you okay?" He looked at her, confused. "You stopped." She nodded, and pushed the confusing window away. "Sorry about that." Her mood felt shattered. Those numbers, what few she could quickly pick out, were not flattering. She didn''t want to know that. She didn''t want to know about his lackluster health, his lack of virility, and that he had a genetic propensity towards weak offspring. "Um, are you okay?" He sat up a little. "We were just getting to the good part." "Actually, I''m not feeling well." She stood and stepped away. "I''m sorry. I need to go." She turned and left the room without another word. She didn''t know where she was going, but she wasn''t going to go down on that guy. With a powerful shudder, she fled to her room. She closed the door, and slumped. She didn''t know what was going on with her, and it was upsetting her. She was in a game world, and she was a female character, a very female character. So female she knew good or bad genetic matches with males she was about to get serious with? How was that even a thing? She didn''t know how to feel, and she was confused, but more than that, she felt angry. Angry at the game for what it was doing to her, and how it was using her. She took a slow breath. "On the other hand." On the other hand, it had spared her from sleeping with the very first male that made a move. On the other other hand, maybe being a brood mouse is why she had been so interested in the first place, and why she had been so thoroughly turned off by his bad genes. "This is so weird." She sighed and flopped on the bed. "Weird, but kind of fun. Mostly strange." She flopped onto her side on her bed. "I need a nap I think." After a few minutes, she drifted to sleep. And while she slept, she dreamed. In her dream, she was a mouse, and she was being chased. She ran through fields, and over hills, and through forests. She dived just out of range of gnashing teeth and flashing claws. When she was finally caught, and thrown to the ground, it was by a large fox. The fox loomed over her and licked its lips. She felt her heart racing in her chest, and her body ached with need. She woke up with her hand between her legs and her heart thumping wildly in her chest, the dream vivid in her mind. "That was a hell of a dream." She pulled her hand away, her fingers damp. "Really intense." She took a deep breath. The dream was fading from her memory, but it had left her aroused. "Well, that''s a thing." She got up from her bed. "And now I need another bath." *** Daisy had just gotten back to her room after bathing, when she heard a knock. She was surprised to find Cedric there. "Hey, Cedric. What''s up?" "Oh, hi." He smiled nervously. "I actually thought you might not be here, and I''d clean your room for you." "Aw, you''re sweet." She smiled at him. "I appreciate it. You''re a nice guy." He blushed, and nodded. "Thank you." Then his ears perked up. She stepped out of the way for him and waved him in. She focused on him, tail swaying as she eyed him as a predator would. ©¤Male analysis initiated. Good. She had wanted to try that. She smiled to herself, watching Cedric work. He was a good looking guy, and he had a nice butt. He was wearing clothes at the moment, which was a shame. As the bunny janitor got to work, her window filled with the information she''d asked for. He was a virgin. Why did she need to know that? She moved her vision along to other information. He had healthy seed. Odds of impregnation, 84-96% depending on timing. Odds of producing viable offspring, 95-99%. He had a strong, healthy genetic makeup and would produce excellent offspring. Daisy stared at that window, reading it over. "Well then, I''d make good children with Cedric." "Pardon?" Cedric turned an ear towards her, but was occupied cleaning up the room. He reached her bed and started getting supplies out to clean the mess she had made without mentioning why it might be there. "I didn''t quite catch that." "Oh, just thinking aloud." She smiled at him. "I, ah, just got some more game information. This world is kind of interesting, isn''t it?" "Very." He scrubbed diligently. "But I just live here." He made quick work of that mess, looking pleased with himself. "Why, are you from some other world?" "I am. I was a human man." Daisy shrugged, her breasts swaying. She walked up to him, and put her hand on his shoulder. "Does that bother you?" Cedric blinked. "No, I''m fine with that." He smiled, then got back to cleaning. "Lots of folks are from somewhere else, really. It''s not that unusual. A lot of them aren''t who they were born as." He turned in place to face Daisy. "I was a human, once." He scratched at one of his long ears. "Now look at me. I''m a bunny. But a bunny that''s good with cleaning. So, win, I guess." "Win is right." She smiled at him. "I think you''re adorable." "Thanks!" He only thought about that after he said that. "Um, wait." He blushed. "Adorable?" "Yeah. You''re an adorable guy." She smirked. "And you have a nice butt." She gave said butt a pat, and then stepped back. "But now I''m harassing you. You''re a busy bunny with a job. Don''t let me slow you down. I''ll be over here. You do your work." She sat down on her bed, tail swaying behind her, and watched him work. She was a hunter, and he was prey. She just knew it. When he left to find other rooms to clean, she sagged. "Why am I doing that to poor Cedric? I''m such a jerk." She sighed, and flopped back. "I''m just being an ass, or a horny mouse." She rolled to her side. "Both is also an option." She was fairly sure she''d just harassed the poor guy. "I''m such a jerk." After a few minutes of moping, she rolled to her front, then sat up, and stood. "Time to go walk. Clear my head." She needed to go for a walk and put her mind on something else, even just moving. She grabbed her leather armor, cleaned by Cedric she assumed, and quickly squirmed into it. She then headed for the exit, and the outdoors. Outside the University, she took a deep breath and looked around. The sun had set, but there were lanterns on poles that kept the paths well lit. She took a moment to take in the sights. She ran lightly, enjoying the sensation of her powerful body moving. It was a powerful engine that she controlled, and she could feel the power of her body with every step. She could outrun anything, she could out jump everything, and she could out climb every one of them. And she had a huge pair of breasts that bounced and jiggled with each step. On that last point, a combination of her tough body and that leather armor seemed to keep everything in place, no rough jostling despite her speed. It was impressive, and she felt good. It was a little weird, and she felt a little embarrassed, but mostly, it felt nice. She slowed to a stop and looked up at the night sky, and the bright stars twinkling above. They weren''t the stars she had known. She couldn''t find any of the few constellations she remembered. But she couldn''t see the light pollution she expected from the city. It was beautiful, and she was happy. Daisy took a deep breath. "This is a real world. It''s a real, beautiful, amazing place." She looked around her. "I''m going to have to learn how to be a mouse." She grinned at the thought. "At least that''s an interesting thing to be." She considered a moment. "But if this is a game¡ª" She held out her hands apart. "Status!" Her character screen popped up in front of her, showing all the information about her and her character. She was surprised by the lack of levels and numbers and things she''d normally see in a game. In a way, that made sense. It was based on an erotic adventure more than a classic exploration affair. It focused on the ''important'' parts for that genre, like fertility cycles and a list of sexual acts. It had a small list of skills and abilities, and a small map. It was interesting to her, and she studied it. It was all useful information, and it confirmed what she already knew. "I''m a mouse. A brood mouse, at that. And I have some pretty good stats." Her mood was improving. She tapped at the hovering letters that made this clear. "Skills," she sang out, pulling up that list. Athleticism was the first, and it was high. She was in very good shape, and she had a powerful body. She had a few combat abilities. Those were middling. She had a few social abilities. "Wonder if they go up with use?" She bounced in place, ready to continue running. "I''ll have to keep an eye on that." She dismissed the window, and began to run again. She moved quickly, and she felt good. Her body was strong, and she could feel her heart beating in her chest. She could feel the wind in her ears, and on her fur. She saw others enjoying the evening and waved as she ran past them. She was happy, and she was excited to see what the next day would bring. She turned back to her room, and found the lights were on. She was puzzled. Was Cedric back to clean again? Or Elina, to check in on her? She opened the door. "Cedric?" But Cedric wasn''t there. It was the fox, glaring at her, and with a knife. "Hello, brood-mouse." She backed up. "What are you doing here? What do you want?" "You." His grin was feral. "You''re a brood-mouse. I was going to just seduce you, but you turned me down. So now, I''m going to make you mine." He rose to his feet, claws glinting at the ends of his finger. "We could have done this the fun way." She stared at him. "That''s not how this works." She shook her head. "You can''t just force me to mate with you." He laughed. "I''m not going to force you to mate with me. I''ll take care of it. You just have to enjoy it." He stepped closer. "I''m going to turn you into a brood-mother." Daisy narrowed her eyes. "No. I don''t think I will let you. You are going to get out of my room and leave me alone. If you touch me, I''ll hurt you." She flexed her fingers. "If you so much as think a moment longer about touching me, I will bend you into a damn pretzel and toss out the result. I''m not going to let you hurt me." The fox laughed again. "You think you can hurt me? You''re a weak little prey, I''m the hunter. I''ll be gentle if you just give in, and you can have a whole litter of kits." She laughed, drawing her dagger free as she took a step forward. "Warning time is over. You are just another mob now. I''ll have to hope the school forgives me for what I''m about to do. You''re going to regret that." Read a Book The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation. "Lead the way to the next class. Why are you taking first year classes though?" He nodded, and started walking. "Because you need to have the basics, to learn how to use magic, and how to control it, and then to use the specific kind of magic you want." "Right right." Daisy tucked her schedule away. "But you''re second year." He nodded. "Some classes are available every year, so you can get them if you miss one. Some classes are only available at specific times. So it can be hard to get some things." He lifted his shoulders. "I took what I could, last year, and this year, different mandatories are open. So here we go." Daisy nodded. "I see. So, you''re taking classes you missed, rather than classes you''re not good enough to pass." He blushed, his ears folding back. "I haven''t just failed any classes, no." She laughed softly, and put a hand on his arm. "That''s a good thing, then. Don''t feel bad." She squeezed. "You''re a good guy." His blush remained, but his ears perked up again. "This way. We''ve got a little longer to go." He led her down a path, and around a corner. They found the room and walked inside. "You can sit next to me. That will be fine." He picked a spot and pointed to a free chair next to him. "You''re a big larger than most of the class. Are you comfortable?" She thought to say no. "I''m alright." She fit her large rump down and wriggled into place. "Just fine." Cedric gave her a worried look, but he sat down. "If you get too uncomfortable, you can ask the professor for a different seat." The teacher was a female deer, tall and thin, with a pair of glasses perched on her nose. "Just don''t push it, okay?" The teacher bowed to the class. "Such energetic faces today. Today, we''re going over mutagens and magic. On this world, mutagens can be used to create magic items. But most often, they are being applied to people, sometimes willingly, and sometimes not. For purposes of this class, we will be focusing on how magic interacts with them, and how your magic may change if you are exposed to a mutagen." She looked around the room. "Does anyone have any questions before we begin?" Daisy perked an ear. "I have one." The teacher glanced at her. Daisy continued. "I''ve already been hit with a mutagen." She gestured over her form. "I guess maybe two? Will that get in the way of my magic?" If you encounter this tale on Amazon, note that it''s taken without the author''s consent. Report it. The teacher shook her head. "No, not at all, unless they are actively interfering with the use of mana. What kind of mutagen did you receive?" " Daisy colored as she slipped from her desk to stand fully, looming over the rest of the class. "For one, I became a brood mouse. For another, I lactate." Her blush grew worse as she explained that. "I was told my magic energy is high, and I can feed it to those around me." The teacher nodded. "Ah. So that''s why you''re a little, ah, large. You can sit down, please." She waited until Daisy had taken her seat again before she continued. "Mutagens like that are very common. Not always with those specific results." She gave a gentle laugh. "Mutagens that increase, or decrease, the size, sensitivity, production, or other parameters of the genitals are common, perhaps overly so. They can lessen one''s magic pool if too much energy is required to sustain those changes. Or, as in your case, they can increase it. Mutagens that make you taller are also common, but I can''t say if that was caused by a specific mutagen outside of becoming what you are now." She turned to the rest of the class. "The lesson here is to not overly extend your body if you wish to be a mage. As much as you may fancy yourself with massive various parts, there is a price, and that price is first mana, but your health can be hurt as well, if you push too far." Daisy thought about that. "Should I try to undo what''s happened to me, so I can do more magic?" The teacher stared at Daisy. "No, Miss, don''t you dare." She flashed a smile. "I was told of the study you are involved in. You would make her very sad if you managed to undo either of those mutagens. Besides, you''re a fine example. I can use you to illustrate the point." The teacher looked at the class. "Any further questions, anyone?" The students were silent. One of the other students, a female badger, raised her paw. "What about us animal folk? Are we at a disadvantage versus humans?" "Ah, that''s an interesting one." The teacher pushed up her glasses. "Humans are a bit of a puzzle. Their magic is weaker and they have a smaller mana pool, but they are far easier to modify with magic." She clapped her hands together. "Which means, your least favorite answer, but it''s complicated. You lose some, and gain some, when you go from human to animal folk." She directs at herself. "As you can see, I am one, and I can use magic quite adeptly." The teacher turned and began to draw on the chalkboard as she spoke. "But the mutagen does more than that. Humans can get stronger by the use of mutagens, in ways we animal folk can''t." She turned an ear back towards the class. "Of course, too much and it drains their mana, and eventually their health. But the potential is still there." She started drawing lines on the board. "So, again, you lose some, and you gain some. It''s not a choice you should take lightly. You can become a monster, or even die, if the mutagen is too strong." She turned back to Daisy. "Like our mouse friend. She is lucky to have survived. Such a dramatic change might have killed her outright, but she was lucky, or durable, or both, and we get to benefit from her experience." She looked back to the rest of the class. "Any more questions?" Cedric raised a paw, and she nodded at him. "You mentioned some mutagens increase your mana. Why don''t we use those?" She smiled, stretching, her fingers brushing over a few passing leaves. She was excited about the prospect of getting to use her skills in battle, even if she had no idea what that battle would be. The group was moving along a trail that was worn into the ground, and the forest around them was quiet and dark, with a soft breeze. The sun was shining down through the trees, casting shadows on the ground, making the forest seem peaceful. Daisy was in the back, trailing the group, and she didn''t mind that. She pricked an ear, hearing something behind them. ¡ªScout skill activated. Daisy blinked at the words. "It wasn''t already?" She kept up with the others, but her form was tense, ready for the ambush she felt certain was coming. One hand trailed down to grasp her dagger, getting a good grip for what she imagined came next. A shout of surprise came from ahead, and she heard the sounds of combat, with clangs of claws on shields and crackling magical fury. She drew her knife, her heart pounding in her chest. "This is it." She lunged, only to coil as a shape almost crashed into her. "Fight''s come to me, that''s alright." She twirled the dagger as she got her first look at the beast. It had a long, thin body, with a snake-like head on one end, a long, thick, scaly tail, and a pair of arms. Each arm ended in three thick claws. Daisy recoiled at the hideous creature, but only briefly as it lunged for her. She ducked under it, slashing at its flank, cutting deep into the flesh. The monster roared in pain and fell back, blood gushing from the wound. It spun, and the tail lashed out at Daisy, striking her hard in the chest, knocking her back. She grunted and rolled, coming up on her feet, holding her dagger up in front of her face, glaring at the monster. "I''m going to kill you." She thought at that moment that she hadn''t killed anything before coming to that world, but it seemed to come naturally to her thoughts. How else had she changed? ©¤Athletic Parry skill used. She caught the next attack and rolled with it, sending the creature smashing through a crumbling stone wall. She was on it in a flash, stabbing it repeatedly in the neck. It let out a gurgling sound, then a hiss, and went still, its body slumping limply on the ground. She stood up and looked around, seeing more of the creatures. The class was in a wild battle, the teachers overwhelmed with sheer numbers. Daisy growled and charged forward. "Protect the class!" She knew they were probably better equipped to defend themselves than her, but she wanted to help, not leave them to the fight alone. She launched herself at the nearest one, slashing at it with her knife. It swatted her right at the wrist with its tail, knocking the blade free. She felt naked, with no weapon to her name. The creature was on her, and she had no choice but to fight. "You''re not winning today!" She charged, slamming her fist into its head, sending it reeling. It was a solid hit, and the creature fell back, shaking its head. Dasy flexed her fingers, a glint of light reminding her of her sharp claws. With a fierce cry of triumph, she lunged at the creature, slashing and tearing at its hide, her claws ripping through its scales. She tore a chunk of meat out of it, and the creature fell back, hissing in pain, its blood gushing out. A third landed on her back, biting deep into her shoulder, causing her to scream in pain. She reached over her shoulder and grabbed the creature, pulling it off of her and flinging it to the ground. It landed with a thud, stunned. "Enough," roared a new voice, power washing over her. The beasts were knocked back in a wave of magic that could not be denied by them, giving the students, Daisy included, a moment to breathe. She looked over and saw the source of that voice was her teacher, and she was standing tall, her arms crossed. She glared at the beasts, and they cowered, but did not flee. "Stay back," she got out in a growl. "I have stronger if you test me." The beasts hissed, but they didn''t advance. They were clearly wary of the teacher, as well as the students, who were now in a tight formation, watching the forest warily. Daisy picked up her fallen dagger. When she returned to the class, they were staring at her when they weren''t watching the beasts. "You''re hurt," one noted sheepishly. It was only then that Daisy realized that she was, in fact, hurt quite badly in several places. She saw a status icon flashing, then fade. Her pain returned to her all at once and she fell to a knee. "Ow." Her tail lashed with annoyance. "What the hell? I didn''t even realize." The professor approached her, bending to check her wound. She was a stern cat woman, tail curling about as she worked. "You didn''t realize until the effects of the battle lust faded. It''s a known effect of combat, but I''ve never seen it so strongly on display. You fought well, but you got a little wild, didn''t you?" Daisy gave a nervous chuckle, her hand on her bleeding shoulder. She squeaked as a warm glow suffused her, bringing with it a strange delight that tingled all through her body. She shivered, feeling the warmth of the healing spell coursing through her. The wounds on her shoulder closed, the torn flesh sealing shut, though she was still left with a small scar, which she didn''t mind. "Thank you." The feline teacher nodded. "Thank you, for helping us keep them safe." She slapped Daisy on her mended shoulder. "Glad to have you with us." Daisy was helped to rise, and she did, shaking her head. The teacher turned to the others. "And you. You all fought well, but you have work to do. I''ll be giving you a lot to work on." She turned to glare at Daisy. "That includes you. Not a single spell in all that? You need remedial catchup." Daisy gave a nervous laugh, and the other students were laughing. "Yes, ma''am." Her teacher snorted. "Yes, ma''am, she says." She laughed. "You''re lucky." But she smiled too. "And strong. I hope your head is as mighty as those arms. Now, anyone else hurt?" There were minor injuries, and those were healed by the teacher without a word. "Now, class, we''re done for the day. Let''s get back." As they were leaving, she looked at Daisy, and said, "You''re going to be a great warrior, Miss Daisy." Daisy colored at that. "I already am one of those, ma''am. I''d like to become a wizard." "Greedy." The teacher laughed, leading the others back where they came despite the glares of the beasts. "But I can''t say it''s a bad trait to have. You want a lot, so you''ll be motivated to learn a lot. You might just manage to pull it off, Miss Daisy." Another student hurried to march next to Daisy. "I''ve never seen someone fight like that! It was awesome!" She was a small, green woman, like a goblin. She pumped an arm. "You were a whirlwind of death!" She was laughing, and Daisy''s cheeks burned. "Uh, thank you." Daisy was embarrassed, but she also felt a little proud, too. "I didn''t get to see what everyone else was doing. What were you doing?" The goblin girl bounced. "Oh, I was casting a spell that made a wall of fire to keep them off." She puffed herself up. "It was great, I kept a bunch of them from getting to the others." Daisy slapped the goblin on her back. "That sounds smart. Good thinking. The critters didn''t like the fire then?" The goblin girl grinned, and shook her head. "Nope, they were terrified of it." Daisy was walking with the goblin, when she felt the urge to look behind her. She could see the rest of the class with very different expressions, from joy to abject failure. The creatures were starting to thin out. At least until she felt a rumble. The ground was shaking. "What''s that?" The goblin girl looked around, and frowned. "I don''t know, I''ve never heard anything like that before. Do you think it could be an earthquake?" One of the teachers waved ahead. "Run, do not look back. This is not a drill. Run!" Daisy didn''t know why they had to run, but she didn''t feel like arguing with that. She grabbed the goblin, and ran. The others were running too. She could see the beast that had been chasing them. Larger than the others, and fuzzier, it was like a great sabre toothed cat that had grown at least twice as large as one would ever expect. Daisy''s eyes went wide. "Oh, god." She wasn''t sure what to do. "I don''t want to fight that!" She kept running. "We''ll get to the town, then the guards will deal with that, right?" A teacher ran at full force beside her. "We''re a little far. Maybe you could keep running that long, but we''ll have to hope that thing gives up." Daisy tossed the goblin into the teacher''s arms. "Then we don''t have much of a choice." The teacher stared, her ears lifting. "What do you mean?" Daisy spun to a stop, and turned to face the beast. "Fight that thing." She drew her dagger, and held her ground. "We fight and win, or lose and die." The teacher set down the goblin, and gave Daisy a smile. "So be it." She raised her arms, and magical energy flowed around her. "I''ll hold it as long as I can, but you have to kill it. I can already sense it''ll resist my direct attacks." Hunting Prizes This narrative has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. DaisyCedricCedric Daisy Daisy Daisy Daisy DaisyCedric Daisy Cedric Cedric Daisy Cedric Daisy Dhiren Cedric Daisy Dhiren Advanced Studies A week later, Daisy found herself in the dungeon once again. This was her third time down there, and she was getting familiar with the place. She had gone down with a mixed pick-up group for the first time, a group of people of various talents. None of them knew her outside of reputation, and she only knew them in return as other students she''d seen around campus. The monsters came at them, and the group responded with force, blasting and slashing at the creatures. Daisy did her part to defend the other members, but the monsters were not the only things she was keeping her eyes on. She ducked just under a great blast. It destroyed the monster, but almost hit her. "You need to watch your aim." She huffed at the fledgling mage. "You have all the power down, but there''s more to it than that." The mage just snorted. "Yeah, whatever. I''m doing my job, just do yours. We''ll be out of this place soon enough." He didn''t seem to be in any mood to listen to advice, but she wasn''t sure if that was his attitude or her body type. She shook her head and put her mind back to the task at hand. They pushed to the bottom and the cheers from several of them implied it was their first time clearing that dungeon. Daisy grinned and gave a few pats on backs to them. "Good work." She nodded her approval. "Keep up that kind of work, and you''ll go far." They looked pleased at that, and she smiled. The mage from before squinted at her. "We don''t need well-wishes from some warrior that signed up for the wrong school." Another got in the way before Daisy could respond. "She''s learned magic, and she''s always doing her work, unlike you, Tom." That got laughs from the rest of the class. Daisy chuckled and nodded to her defenders. "Don''t worry about it. I''m glad to be here." She waved at them as the room started to fade, and soon enough she found herself outside of the dungeon, standing on the platform. "Let''s get back to school." She waved them all ahead and started back herself, tail lashing gently. She moved through the halls. As she passed, she noticed that the teacher''s door was open. Curious, she peered in. "Hello?" The teacher looked up from his desk, and he smiled when he saw her. "Ah, Daisy. How fortunate you arrived." He pointed to a chair across from him at his desk. "A moment of your time?" She nodded and settled into the offered chair, tail hanging over the back. "Is something going on, sir?" He shook his head. "I just wanted to ask you how things were going, and if you had any questions." Dipping his quill in a vial of ink, he continued his writing. "According to Professor Valermouka, you''ve reached the plateau expected of those taking up mage craft so late in their careers." He lifted a hand. "And it is not a criticism. Most of the students she has are well versed in their art before they ever reach her. You have done very well for a late starter." "Thanks." Daisy rubbed at her right cheek, considering the teacher. He didn''t do any of her classes. "Is that a polite way of showing me the door?" "Quite the opposite, I assure you." The teacher smiled. "Your grades are excellent, and I can tell you are a diligent worker. I have heard nothing but praise for you from your teachers, and your fellow students, especially when they''ve actually been in the field with you." He clasped his hands. "But it''s just as clear to them that your strength is your blade. You are a warrior, and I speak that only as a compliment." Daisy frowned and leaned closer. "I''m not sure I get what you''re aiming at, professor. You''re saying I can do well here, but I''m a fighter, not a mage?" The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement. "I did say that." He laid the quill flat. "You could be advancing faster and better in the field. Every report says the same thing: You are a powerful warrior, and you are holding back your potential by focusing on the mage craft." He gestured around him. "You do not have to be a magic user to be a great hero, after all." Daisy frowned and looked down at her hands. They shimmered green with the promise of her magic. "But?" "But nothing." He leaned in. "You are a warrior first. You need to learn to incorporate your magic into that. If you do, I believe you will find yourself a rare thing: A mage that can stand on the front lines." He gestured in the air. "That is something that only the strongest of mages can claim, and only then when they have spent decades mastering their art." He picked up the quill just to point it at Daisy''s dagger. "Take that. Your favored weapon, is it not?" She lifted the dagger and turned it, watching the light shimmer along the blade. "It''s my favorite, yeah." He gestured with the quill, pointing it at her like a wand. "Then it should be your focus, as a warrior, and as a wizard. You don''t have time to cast spells slowly while you are moving about as a warrior must." He gestured to her dagger. "So you should focus your magic through the blade." He pointed at her armor. "Or your shield. Make that your casting tools. It will not be easy, but it will give you the chance to cast more swiftly, and to be a better fighter." He reached down and pulled out a map to unfurl on the table. He pointed to a specific spot on it. "Here. The dungeon here gives rise lagrely to the unliving. Foul things. They hate the touch of healing magic. Striking them down with a dagger? Slow. But a dagger that glimmers with healing magic? They will fall to you in droves." Daisy considered the map. "So you''re giving me a recommendation?" "I am giving you a challenge." He set the quill aside. "You already have friends. You do know wizards need a certain amount of field practice, do you not? That''s why they''re so eager to plunge into that easy little hole with you. Take your friends. Who were they? Ah, yes. Cedric and Theodore. The three of you make for an excellent combination of talents." Daisy frowned. "You''re not sending Theodore with us. He''s been trying to get me interested, and failing miserably. He might not be willing to join up with me again. And even if he is, Cedric doesn''t want to go with him." The professor gestured at the map. "What a perfect opportunity then, for them to put aside their differences and work together for the good of you all." He shrugged gently. "You don''t have to, but you will find yourself in other, worse, company. It''s good practice, setting boundaries and keeping them." Daisy frowned, and she could feel the fur between her ears prickling as she leaned over. "That''s a little cruel, professor." He tapped his fingers on his desk. "I assure you, it is not. I''ve heard what he did, operated by his genitals. He is far from alone. That is an all-too-common problem around here. Set your boundaries, and let none past them." He looked her over. "And why do you not have a chastity amulet?" Daisy blinked. "Oh, those are real?" She rubbed at her cheek. "I guess I should pick one up. I lost track of that with a bunch of other stuff. Where do I get one? Are they expensive?" The teacher chuckled. "Not terribly. They are made to be cheap and disposable. You could even make your own, if you had a bit of skill. Even Theodore could manage the spellcraft needed. Though, for obvious reasons, I don''t imagine him making one." He snorted at the idea as he gave the address to a place. "They break after they work, but they do work quite nicely. You won''t need to replace it often." Daisy rubbed over her cheek, feeling that soft fur under her fingers. "And why do I need one? From other students? I''m not shy." "For anything. Anything that attempts to get involved with you without your permission will be denied, and lose interest moments after that. Works once, but, again, quite well. You''ll hardly know it went off." He pointed to the map. "You''ll want one of these before you go in here. It''s an all-too-common way monsters try and control you, after all." Daisy shuddered, imagining anything undead trying that with her. "I would hope not!" She reconsidered the kind of game she was in. "But I can imagine it. Okay, picking up a few dozen of those." "Your friends can help you make them, if they are actually your friends." He gestured around. "And I need to get back to work, if you''re alright?" She nodded and got up. "Cedric is a good bunny, and person overall. If he knows how, I bet he''d get right to it." She headed for the door out, tail swaying with relief. "Thanks for the chat. I''ll talk to them about the dungeon." He smiled at that and waved her away as he went back to his own work. Daisy headed out and considered the teacher''s words as she wandered. Always Wear Protection Stolen content warning: this content belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences. She was feeling confident in her abilities. It was a dungeon of undead, and those were vulnerable to her magic, which could heal the living while harming the undead. The hallway ahead opened out into an immense room. The stench of the dead and decay filled it. Daisy wrinkled her nose. "Yuck, somehow worse than the others we''ve been to recently." A figure at the other end of the hall rose. He looked mostly human, but with longer teeth. A pair of fangs that dangled down. He smiled at them, then made a grand bow. "You have made quite the mess. Clearly you''ve been eager to have a meeting with me." Theodoren rolled his eyes, taking out his wands. "So, are you going to kill yourself, or do we have to do all the work?" Daisy put up her hand to quiet Theo. "Let''s talk first. Why not?" She shrugged to the figure. "You''re a vampire?" "I am, indeed." He gave another bow. "My name is Vasilias. And you are in my domain. Thank you for being polite. So many are uncultured brutes when they first arrive, forcing me to teach them manners. We get off on the right foot, don''t we? We should be friends." He looked past Daisy to Cedric, then to Theodore. He pointed a thin finger at Theo. "Especially you. I can feel the gentle touch of the night already drawing you towards me, fox." He took a few slow steps forwards, but kept his distance from Daisy. "I can see, as well, that I have something you want. Come to my side. I could use a man such as yourself, with a good head on your shoulders, as it were." Cedric interposed himself between Theo and Vasilias. "Just because he got a, uh, mark, doesn''t make him yours. What do you want, uh, sir?" "Sir?" He smiled, teeth far too sharp and needle-like. "I like a polite soul. What do I want? I want to be left alone. Why you mortals feel a need to intrude into my home is a mystery to me, one I haven''t solved after centuries of it." He chuckled softly. "But, since you''re here, I would not be opposed to a new servant to replace the many you''ve butchered." Daisy glanced at Theodore, who looked rather uncertain. She didn''t want to lose Theo''s help and friendship, especially not after they had just started to bond as comrades. "You can''t have him. And especially not for that crappy reason." She raised her dagger. "You''re super obviously the boss of this place. Give up, or be crushed under our feet. Make a choice." The vampire laughed. "Such confidence. You''re a good match with that weapon, I can see. My, you do make for an interesting bunch." He glanced at Cedric, then back to Daisy. "Truly a shame, in a better world we''d be sharing gossip over tea." He threw his cape back, wielding a silvery rapier. "But that is not the world we dwell in. Let us begin." Theo pointed both wands at Vasilias and unleashed bolts of flame. The vampire deflected the first with a sweep of his blade. The second slammed into his shoulder, leaving a burning hole. Daisy was on him just a moment later, leading with her shield and slamming it against the vampire. With a flourish of her dagger, she struck at him with healing magic. It did indeed seem to harm him, but not as much as she had hoped. "Damn bosses." She squinted at him intently. "You should have a, right." There it was, his hit points in a bold bar over his form. She just had to actually look for the thing. The vampire swept his blade towards Daisy''s face, but she blocked the blow with her shield. He was strong enough that the impact drove her back. Cedric grabbed Theo and dragged him back. "Be careful!" He threw lightning at Vasilias. "Like you''re one to talk!" Theo shot fire at the monster. If you spot this story on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation. Vasilias took the brunt of the spells, staggering him back. "You think you''ve beat me, I should think not." He exploded into countless bats, each with readied fangs. They tore through the area, slamming into the trio in a frenzy of fur and biting teeth. Daisy tried to keep away from the bulk of them. Her shield knocked most of the ones near her aside, but several had landed on her back, trying to bite through her armor and shirt. "This is so gross!" She smacked her back against the wall, crushing most of them. Only a few remained, trying to nip at her arms. "How are you two?" Cedric cried out. He was being swarmed with the little creatures. Dozens were crawling up and down his body, biting at his skin and clothes, shredding him. Theodore roared and threw flames towards the ground. The circle of fire roasting in a spreading sphere kept most of them off of him. "You''re not winning! I won''t let you!" Cedric had collapsed under the weight of bats, and the rest were crawling over him, biting and clawing. Daisy swiped her blade at them as she charged. "Get away from him!" Her magic sliced free of her dagger in a thin line that cut through many of the bats, but didn''t hurt Cedric. She smashed the rest aside with her shield. They tried to reform into Vasilias, but he was too wounded to complete the transformation. The result was a mess of blood and flesh with bits of what had been bats sticking out in all directions. Theo looked ready to gag, but Daisy was more fascinated than disgusted. The partially reformed vampire took a step towards them before falling to his knees. "You think you have defeated me? You are a fool. I am eternal." Daisy hurled her dagger in a sharp movement. It struck the beast between the eyes, ending the monstrosity with a healing spell to its brain. The body crumpled to the floor as she went to Cedric''s side. "Ced?" She put a hand on his chest, looking over him. Cedric coughed in a wince. "I''m, ugh, mostly okay. Got a little healing left?" Daisy put both her hands on him, casting magic into Cedric. "Just relax, okay?" It took a few moments before he looked less ragged. "There you go, all better." "Good for you." Theo had a new scowl. "Dang it." Daisy peeked up at him. "Did something happen? You alright?" He pointed to his feet. "You wanted to know when I changed. Well, my smile just got better." He flashed his pearly whites, revealing the great big fangs he''d been gifted with. "This is the second one." Daisy sighed. She couldn''t be too upset when he wasn''t in the greatest of situations. "We''ll get you fixed. Don''t worry so much." Theo gritted his teeth, just to laugh. "Well, does it suit me?" He took on his best mysterious look. "I vant to suck your blood." He grinned awkwardly at that. "How was it?" Daisy frowned. "Your accent was atrocious. But you looked good. Maybe keep the new teeth? It kinda suits you." She waved lightly. "Lose the tail, obviously. But Theo with vamp teeth? Eh. Let''s see what we got for that." She pointed at the loot. It was a necklace this time. The chain had a fine weave, and the stone dangling on it was smooth and black. The stone didn''t reflect light, so it had an odd look to Daisy. ©¤ Blackheart Amulet ©¤ Type: Accessory, Necklace ©¤ Rarity: Legendary ©¤ Description: This rare necklace is imbued with dark energy that helps the wearer resist healing and holy magic, but can damage them if they cast such spells. Daisy threw a hand up. "Wow, striking out entirely for loot in this dungeon." She laughed despite it. "Still, I got some good practice in. Not a waste. So, who wants an amulet that protects against healing and holy magic?" She waved it between her fingers. "It hurts if you cast any of that type of magic, too." "I can use it." Theo looked awkward. "I mean, I don''t think Cedric uses spells that are affected, and I know I don''t." He shrugged. "Could go to either of us. Cedric, you want?" Cedric shrugged back. "No thanks." He looked over the chain a moment. "I''m not sure what use it would be, I don''t get into situations where I need it." Daisy stuffed it away. "Then we sell it and enjoy the split money. I''m sure someone else will want it. Now, how about we get out of here?" She gestured to the wall behind them, which had opened up into a doorway to the outside. She led them through, feeling relieved as she stepped out into the sun. "Good job, Daisy." Theodore put his hands on his hips. "That was intense. But it was also fun. You were pretty cool in there." Daisy waved off his words, but her tail swayed with pleasure behind her. "You were great too. Both of you. Thank you for the help, I appreciate it." She grabbed the both of them in a firm hug. "Maybe we can come back to this hole after we recover?" Theo looked back at the place. "Maybe." He hugged her back, then turned to leave. "We really should stop by and get me healed, if that''s possible." Cedric squeezed them both before leading them off. "Let''s get your tail back to normal. "Good luck in class. See you in an hour or two!" He gave her a quick kiss back before wandering off. She took the time to run out and grab some quick lunch and meet Theodoren at the entrance of his class. "I''d like to join you, if you don''t mind." Theo blinked and looked around, then shrugged. "I mean, you don''t have the class, so just keep quiet?" So she did, just looming a bit behind him as he studied. Watching him just felt right. It was only halfway through the class she wasn''t paying attention to that it hit her. She quietly slipped from the class and flopped her back against a wall. "Dang it. I''m letting my brood mouse instincts win out. I don''t need to lurk over my partners like that." She rubbed her nose. "I guess it''s good to know what it is that I''m doing." She spent the next hour reading a magazine in the grass, enjoying herself. When Theo came out of the class, he looked around for her and lit up when he saw her. "Oh, there you are!" She smiled. "Here I am." "I thought maybe you had an emergency or something, since you vanished." He sank down to sit next to her. "You were there, then you weren''t. For being so big, you can be quiet when you want to be." Daisy shrugged. "Sorry, I just felt silly." She put her hands behind herself. "I''m just brooding over you too much. I need to chill. So, I needed some space to get myself together." She folded her magazine shut. "You and Cedric are both adults. As a functional adult, I should let you get your business done, and we get to hang out after, if you want." "Well, yeah, but." He casually leaned in against her, sinking down until his head was resting on her chest. "I want to do that." Apparently finding her to be quite the agreeable pillow, he closed his eyes. "Were you paying attention in class? We''ve got to write an essay on magic use and proper procedures for handling dangerous materials." Daisy sighed. "That sounds like your problem, because I''m not in the class. But if you want to bounce ideas off me, I''d be glad to hear them." Theodoren sat up, looking offended. "How is it not your problem? You''re acting like you stopped going to class all of a sudden." "Because I did, stop going." She tapped his nose. "I graduated, or they kicked me out, your pick. You''re looking at a paladin, a magical warrior, not a wizard. Class for me is practice. Speaking of! Can I count on you next dungeon I head towards?" Theodoren huffed and leaned back against Daisy. He was clearly enjoying using her as support. She was enjoying being used. "Fine, I get the message. Yeah, I''ll help you. And Cedric. It was pretty fun. But what do you mean by that? We''re in the middle of a semester, not the end of one." "They didn''t care. They said staying would be entirely for giggles on my part, so I''m taking them at their word." She wrapped her arms around him, drawing him closer. "So I don''t go here, for school, anymore. I''m still a test subject though." He rolled over to rest his head directly in her lap, looking up at her. "So you''d be like a wandering student, taking classes where you want them? Or just no class at all?" "I don''t need to be in class. I wandered in today because I was busy feeling clingy to you. Sorry about that." She reached down to ruffle over his head gently. "Swat me next time I do that. We all need a little space to just be ourselves." Theo sighed, relaxing in her embrace. "I don''t mind you hovering, so long as you''re not literally doing it over me while I''m trying to write a test or something. But, if you insist, I''ll let you know if I need some me time." She tickled along one of his ears. "That''s the important part, knowing you can shoo me way when you want to. I''m a girlfriend, not your mom, and even moms should back off once in a while, eh?" She sat up, placing him so he was sitting in her lap. "It all happened so quickly, so this is a check in. You alright with this, with us? I don''t even know how you feel about Cedric, really. You like him, or you put up with him to be near me?" Theo looked away, rubbing his hands. He wasn''t looking at Daisy in the face anymore. "I like you both. I''m glad you both want me." Daisy hugged him. "I''m glad to hear it." She gave his muzzle a kiss. "And we''ll make sure you''re happy with us. We can start with some more kissing." Theodoren sat up, his cheeks darkened. He looked ready to return that favor when a voice called from nearby. "Dais!" Cedric rushed in, waving. Theo looked away and slipped from Daisy''s lap. She shrugged to Theodoren, standing up as Cedric skidded to a stop. Daisy waved to Theodoren. "I was just asking about you to him. You already gave your counter reply. I''m glad you two like each other." She gestured at Theo with a smile. The author''s narrative has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon. Cedric nodded. "You mean about being a family?" Daisy cocked an ear his way, then towards Theo. "Exactly. It''s a new thing." She paused. "I think? Either of you get in a committed relationship before?" Theo and Cedric both shook their heads. "Great, so we''ll be figuring this out together?" She smiled brightly. "Good! I like the idea. You''re both great in my mind, and I''m looking forward to seeing how this unfolds." Cedric bounced lightly on his feet. "I was told you were given a list of places to go explore. We''re coming too, right?" Theodoren sighed. "Of course you want to go exploring." He shrugged. "I''m game. But, next time, I''m coming with some fox vials in hand in case I get deformed in any odd ways I don''t like." Daisy leaned in. "What if you get deformed in any odd ways you do happen to like?" Cedric tilted his head at that, blinking softly. Theo just shrugged, trying to look nonchalant. "I''ll cross that bridge when we reach it." "Right!" She took them both by an arm and hauled them along. They squirmed and laughed, trying to keep up with her long stride while being dragged along. "I vote we do something special, to celebrate this new chapter we''re starting." She held the two closer, looking from one to the other as they walked along. "As a family. What do you two think about that?" Cedric leaned into her grasp, his ears perked. "You don''t have to go out of your way for me. I''m already pretty happy." Daisy shook her head, squeezing his shoulders gently. "It''s not about going out of my way for you. This is for all of us, including me." Theodoren looked away. "We, uh, started on a rough note. Sorry about that. Glad we got past it." He squirmed a little. "I never had a girl want to get this close to me, not in a, you know, long-term kind of way." He cleared his throat. "I don''t need a special day or nothing. You being here is enough." Daisy felt her cheeks warm at the admission. "You two are amazing." She wrapped them both into a tight hug. Part of her wanted to insist, but she fought against it. If they were comfortable, that was good. "Alright then. No fancy festivities." She released them both. "Do you two have homework to do?" Theodoren nodded. "I sure do." Cedric shrugged. "Not really. I''ve finished up." Daisy leaned over towards Theo. "Want to get together and work on that?" Theo looked around nervously. "Um, sure, I guess. I mean, if you really want to." He raised a hand sharply. "Wait, no. I got this. I can handle my homework." He waggled his fingers. "You two go play." Daisy rolled her eyes. "You''re silly. I''m not going to distract you too much, promise." It took a moment for her words to echo back on her. "Oh, I''m doing it again. Sorry." She turned from Theo. "Good luck with your homework. Cedric, let''s give Theo space. He can call for us if he wants to." Theodoren waved them away and wandered off. Cedric waved a farewell and gestured for Daisy to follow him. She smiled and held his hand as she walked with him. "Thanks." She spotted a little tracker, casually keeping note of how many of her family were close by. It had gone down when Theo left, but it wasn''t zero. That felt, somehow, really important. She frowned a little. "Dang brood mouse urges. I don''t want to be alone anymore." "Step away from her," came a firm authoritarian voice, male. The source was a feline, striding towards them in an outfit befitting a medieval law keeper of some sort. "Slowly." He directed a rapier towards Daisy. "And you, stay away from him." Daisy raised her hands slowly, eyes wide. "I''m confused. What''s going on? I haven''t done anything wrong." Cedric reached a hand to the cat. "No!" The feline grabbed the outreaching hand and pulled Cedric a step away from Daisy, interposing himself between the two. "That is a brood mouse! Very dangerous beast. You''re lucky she hasn''t already torn you apart, or worse, far worse." Daisy narrowed her gaze. "You have me mistaken, officer." She bowed her head to him. "I''m not an enemy. Shoot, I work here, as a lab mouse." She giggled lightly, imagining herself in a proper lab worker outfit. Cedric rubbed his arm where it had been grabbed. He looked at Daisy with a smile, then at the cat. "Um, she hasn''t hurt me, or anyone, sir." "She''s a brood mouse without a brood." He kept his rapier raised and ready. "Likely looking for a new mate. You''re lucky she didn''t pin someone down the moment she happened on a male." Daisy huffed, crossing her arms under her chest and leaning against a tree. "Wow. I was the one almost raped, not the other way around, thanks." She waved to Cedric. "And that is a partner of mine. We live together. The odds of any rape between us are pretty small as a result. Not zero, if we were jerks to one another, but still pretty small." The officer looked at her, eyes narrowing, then at Cedric, eyes wide. "You are in a relationship? With this... beast? A monster?" Cedric nodded, rubbing his arm again. "S-she''s really nice, um, Sir. Her name is Daisy, and she even knows some healing magic. She''s a great friend and dungeon diver." The cat raised his head. "Dungeon diver, you say?" He lowered his rapier a few inches. "I''d like to hear more about that." Daisy rested a hand on Cedric''s shoulder, pulling him around to be at her side instead of the feline''s. "I cleared the starter dungeon of the academy a few times, and two others once, completely." Though she was not looking at him with that intention, his statistics began to appear. He had some good breeding values, that she waved away. "And I graduated as a paladin." He narrowed his eyes. "A rare breed, and a graduate? My name is Jaspur." He gestured with the rapier. "I''ve been on your tail since I heard reports of a brood mouse roaming around." Daisy colored faintly. "And when was that?" Having Cedric behind her eased a lot of her tension. "Really, I''m not a monster. I only infected one person ever, and that was only out of ignorance. I''ve learned how never to do that again." Jaspur raised the rapier up. "But you admit to doing it. You infected someone without their express permission?" Daisy thought back to that shopkeeper that had greedily drawn from her and ended up with a bit of mouse features. "She liked it, but she hadn''t asked for it specifically. I didn''t know how mutagens worked that point, or that I was one." She pat one of her sizable breasts. "Don''t drink from these directly. The milk''s harmless after it''s had a moment outside of me though." Jaspur nodded, but his blade didn''t move any more. "I see." He looked her up and down. "You are dangerous, and you seem to be aware of that fact." He pointed to Cedric, who was huddled against Daisy''s back and peering over her shoulder. "Are you certain this is the kind of person you wish to associate with?" "Yes." Just one word, clear as his intent. He nuzzled into Daisy''s side and clung to her. "She''s already gotten to you," Jaspur sighed out. "For unlawful infection, I place you under arrest." The Court Will Rise Daisy stepped forward a single step. She had a good amount of height over him, but he didn''t seem intimidated. She didn''t want to be arrested, or have to resist arrest. She needed a better way out. "I''ve been trying to be a good person. Ask around. I have only a good reputation around here." Jaspur let out a dry laugh. "A good reputation does not a crime erase. Ignorance is no plea either. Now, will you surrender peacefully? That is all I need to know." Daisy clenched her fists. She trembled, but slumped, defeat rolling through her. "Nobody else did anything wrong, don''t hurt them." "Very good." Jaspur advanced on her. "Arms behind your back." He drew out some manacles. "Let''s get moving. We need to get you out of here before you cause any more problems." Cedric gasped, rushing forward. "No! Let her go!" Jaspur looked down at him, then turned towards him, rapier raised. "Back up." She whipped her tail behind her. "I''ll be back, soon as I can. Tell Theodoren what happened. Don''t get hurt." Cedric stepped back from the officer, but didn''t look convinced. Daisy offered a small smile. "It''s okay, I promise. I don''t want anyone getting hurt." Cedric nodded meekly, taking several steps away from the cat. "O-okay." With loud clicks, Jaspur secured her arms and began to lead her away. She felt Cedric watching until they were out of sight. Her tail hung limp, but she was far from defeated. If nothing else, she would find a way to contact her family. She was lead down towards the city proper, into the streets and past shops. She glanced at the shop she had done the deed in, mutated someone without their permission. Part of her wondered if that shopkeeper was alright. Another cursed her for getting her into the trouble in the first place. She was led to the city''s dungeon. The place was cold and musty, as prisons tend to be. He led her into the back and placed her in an isolated cell. "You stay here." She could see that little window in her vision. She was alone, with no family around. She clenched her teeth as she paced about the cell. "Solitary confinement at that?" "I have orders," Jaspur responded. He stood just out of sight of the bars. "You are to be kept away from anyone until you can be brought before the judge, tomorrow." He gave a long sigh. "Brood mice are social monsters. Letting you have company is giving you power. We do not want you having power." Daisy grit her teeth, but there was little she could say. It wasn''t as if he were wrong, after all. Jaspur continued. "If you''re lucky, they''ll send you back where you came from, but I doubt it. Daisy threw up her hands. "I''m an otherworlder. I doubt they''ll be sending me ''back where I came from''." Jaspur shrugged. "I''m sure the judge will take that into account. Until then, you sit here and think about your crimes. I''ll bring you food in a while." Daisy settled down on the wooden bench that would be her bed for the night. She got little sleep, thoughts busy thinking about the family she didn''t have near her. The next morning, Jaspur returned with a plate of food that was bland at best, but at least filling. He led her, chained, out of the cell and through town towards the nearest courthouse. There, in the building''s main court room, sat a human judge. "A brood mouse?" The human leaned in closer for a better look. "I''ve only heard of those. The court calls upon an elder. Bring forth one knowledgable of monsters and their ways." Daisy waited quietly until an old woman, her hair long since gone white, hobbled her way into the court room, leaning on her walking stick. The judge gave her a nod of great respect. The elder nodded at the judge, then turned to regard Daisy quietly a moment. It was like she were looking through Daisy, or maybe she could see extra information like Daisy could? Daisy wasn''t sure which. "Daisy?" The judge sat up. "You know the accused?" "I brought them here. Daisy, it''s me, Sally." The elder walked closer with a smile. "I''m looking more of my age, but it''s still me." Jaspur stepped up to block Sally''s approach. He gave her a stiff smile. "Sorry Ma''am. She is dangerous and cannot be allowed to infect anyone else." Daisy smiled at the old woman. "You were just an young woman that needed help, and I needed your help as well. Once we were out of that dungeon anyway." The judge clapped his gavel smartly. "Order. Elder, what do you know of brood mice, and this individual? Please stick to the facts, not opinions." Sally nodded slowly, hobbling towards the front of the room. She settled down in a seat set aside for the witnesses. "Brood mice are considered monsters because they will breed, well, like mice. Given the chance, they''ll create a lot of monsters in a small space, making quite the obstacle to any adventurers trying to get past." She waved at Daisy. "But this one isn''t a monster. Just an otherworlder that got ''lucky'' with a mutagen. She could have hurt me, but moved instead to free me from quite the situation with no request for recompensating. Hardly a monstrous mindset." The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation. Daisy smiled, her eyes glazing over. "That was one heck of a fight. I''m glad I managed to keep my head. But you were trapped in there. It wasn''t fair." The judge nodded slowly, his fingers steepling before him. He gestured for Sally to continue. "Right. Daisy is a warrior." Sally gestured at Daisy. "She''s been tested by the guild, scanned and everything. If she were a monster, they would have detected it. Instead, they found the rare breed, and that''s all." The judge turned his attention to Daisy, steepling his fingers once more. "You seem very certain of your facts." Daisy shrugged. "I know I don''t want to hurt random people. I was a student, at the university, and I still work there." She kept the part about as a lab animal quiet. "I learned magic, and became a paladin." The judge waved Daisy to silence. "We''ve heard quite enough from the accused. Jaspur." The cat stood ramrod straight. "She has infected someone without their permission, Sir. The only thing we need to decide is if she means ill will." The judge leveled his gavel at Daisy. "Explain how this occurred." Daisy faintly colored, thinking about it. "I was still very new, and someone offered to buy some of my milk. Why not? Or so I thought, so I went with her. She, uh, showed interest, and I didn''t stop her from taking a test. She, uh, nursed from me." Her cheeks were now fully red, which caused a little snicker to come from Jaspur. "And that was the mutagen." Jaspur shrugged. "That''s an awful lot of details, and no mention of you stopping her." "I didn''t know!" Her tail lashed. "I had no idea. I just thought I made tasty milk. That''s a new experience, but I figured a harmless one. I learned, later, that my milk is harmless if allowed to rest a short while outside of my body. Taken directly, it will turn one towards a mouse. She looked happy with the changes." The judge frowned. "And yet you do not deny that you are a monster?" Daisy let out a slow breath. "The definition of monster seems to be someone who attacks or mutates without permission. I don''t generally do that. So if that''s the definition, I''m a pretty lousy monster." "I see." The judge turned to the elder. "What can we expect to happen as she continues to stay at the university?" Sally grinned. "They''ll continue doing research on her. I''m certain they have some plans." Jaspur looked at Sally with a fresh frown, but kept quiet. The judge fiddled with his gavel. "Where is the attacked? Bring her forward." Jaspur tensed at that. "She isn''t here, Your Honor." The judge frowned at Jaspur. "Why not? Her testimony is essential." Jaspur turned away. "She didn''t want to testify." "Then bring her in anyway!" The gavel came down. "This is an important case. She must testify to the events that happened. Her words will either damn this monster, or see her set free." "I''ll go get her." Jaspur turned and stalked from the courtroom, leaving Daisy behind. Sally looked between the door and judge. "This doesn''t bode well." The judge shrugged. "If she was attacked by a monster, she won''t protect them." Sally gave him a dry look. "And that''s the problem." It took a couple of hours, and Daisy was returned to the jail cell while they awaited the victim of the case. She had to make the trip back when they did get her to show up. There she was, mostly human if not for the short mouse tail and a few whiskers on her face. The moment she saw Daisy, her attention was fixed. The judge cleared his throat. "Miss, please come forward and give testimony." The mouse woman reluctantly tore her gaze from Daisy and approached. She sat in the seat Sally had occupied previously. "Now, please tell us what happened," the judge commanded. "I was foolish, Your Honor." She wringed her fingers. "The, uh, accused sold me some milk, and I wanted to try some myself. It''s expensive, that milk, and rare. If I sold it, I would never get a chance otherwise, so I asked if I could get one more, directly." Jaspur spoke out of turn. "She let you drink straight from her? You''re lucky you didn''t turn fully into a monster yourself!" She looked at Jaspur, then at Daisy, and shrugged. "Maybe, but I didn''t know, and I don''t think she did either. She was, simply, delicious. It was everything I paid for and more. I wanted more, but she fled, cheeks all red and looking embarrassed. I didn''t notice the changes until later." She raised a hand to her face, feeling her new whiskers as her little tail swayed against the chair she sat in. Jaspur clenched his fists. "So she transformed you!" "Into something closer to her, yes." She looked up with a smile. "I don''t feel that I was attacked or wronged." She looked up at the judge. "If I could change anything, I''d ask her to finish the job. Being stuck only partway is the bad part. I''d rather just be a mouse, or all human, not a little of either." Daisy looked at the young woman with surprise. "Really?" She smiled. "Really." She turned towards Daisy. "You were really good. I hope you''ll sell me some more milk, sometime." The judge clapped his gavel. "Order. We are here today to decide if the accused is a monster. Would you see them banished from civilized company?" "I would not!" The shopkeeper crossed her arms. "Let her go." "Your opinion has been noted." He waved her away. "Now then." He regarded Daisy with piercing eyes. "It seems you were not aware of the danger at the time, but are now aware, correct?" Daisy bobbed her head. "Nobody''s allowed near these without being told exactly what the danger is." He waved for Jaspur to bring a vial forward. He slipped on gloves and opened it, sniffing carefully. "Indeed, you did make it clear. If there is any fault, it is the shopkeeper''s, not yours." The shopkeeper shrank in misery at that, but didn''t argue it. "Fortunately for her, there''s no law against imbibing a mutagen, even if it can be a dangerous hobby at times." The judge clapped his gavel smartly. "The court finds the defendant, Daisy, to be a person. Not a monster." The shopkeeper stood. "That''s wonderful news. But, I''m still stuck as I am? I just want to finish it. Be either mouse or human." Jaspur sighed and turned from her, waving dismissively. "That''s up to you." He marched away, done with the entire affair. A bailiff stepped forward to release Daisy from her manacles. "You''re free to go." She rubbed her wrists, then bowed her head in thanks. The judge waved at the shopkeeper. "Your request is outside my purview. Speak to her, directly. Court adjourned." The shopkeeper brightened and hurried over to Daisy with her best smile. "Hello there. Glad they let you go. I helped." She rocked lightly in place. "I already know what will happen. Can I get a new sip or two?" Daisy thought about it. A little smile spread across her lips. She reached out to pull the shopkeeper into a hug against herself. "Sure, but you''ll need to do something for me. One, we have to get out of here. I will not do that in the middle of a court, dear god." She gently pushed the lady towards the exit, following her. "Oh! I can''t wait!" The shopkeeper bounced with every step. "Thank you so much! I promise, I''ll drink as much as you give me!" "I believe it." Daisy gently put her arm around her shoulders, guiding her along. Cedric nodded up towards her chest. "Yeah, there''s a sign up there. I didn''t want to bring it up before, but you do see that, right? Where did it come from?" She looked down, seeing it. ''Mutagen Source'' hovered above the chest area. "I didn''t want to mention it. A cat officer decided I was a risk, and they needed to be labeled so everyone''s safe. Safe from what is anyone''s guess." "Jerk!" Theo reached up to feel at the letters, but they had no physical presence. "Please, you''re not ambushing people with them. The risk is pretty clear. I go at these, I''ll be a mouse too." He gestured towards her. "Not that I mind the idea now that I''ve seen how lovely a mouse lady can be." Daisy nuzzled his head. "You''re a sweetheart, but that''s not going to change anything." She rose to her full height. "Whatever. I''m not here to cause trouble. I vote we get going if you two are ready? There''s a mechanical undead dungeon not too far. We can all go and see what happens in there." She grabbed up her shield, strapping it on, and checked over the rest of her equipment. "It''s going to be hard using this shield with a big two handed fella." Theodoren smiled up at her. "I think you''d manage anyway, you''re pretty strong." He turned towards his own bag, checking over everything. "I have potions, food, and a few other things as well." He paused and turned. "Do either of you have room for any of these things?" Cedric waved at his bag. "A little. Daisy, um, you''re the strongest. Think you could carry a little more?" She smiled and approached, gently taking the potions from Theodoren. She slipped them into their appropriate pouches, then took some food as well. "I''ll carry what I can. You two carry the rest." What she could carry made their share manageable swiftly. "To adventure!" She pointed the way and began her march. *** Cedric pointed down the path. "That way! The dungeon should be that way." "Right." Daisy hefted her warhammer. It was massive in her hands, and she could see Theodoren looking at it. "You want to see me smash things." She chuckled softly. "So do I." She took significant and broad steps towards the dungeon ahead. "Looks like an abandoned workshop. Lots of rusted metal out front." She leaned the warhammer against her shoulder as the other two caught up. "Doesn''t mean there isn''t danger." Cedric approached while drawing his sword. "Please." Theo drew a wand to readiness. "Undead constructs, remember? It looks just right." Daisy nodded towards them, but kept her attention forward. The wind rustled through the branches of surrounding trees and her fur. She stepped into the room and examined what she could see. "It''s quiet in here." As if to prove her wrong, two electric eyes opened suddenly. "State your name and purpose." It sounded artificial, neither male or female. Daisy looked at it. "We are adventurers, here for treasure." She raised the hammer in a clear threat. "Will you try to stop us?" The eyes narrowed. "Yes." With that simple statement, it rushed forward, metal claws outstretched. Daisy knocked it aside with a massive swing, but other automatons were rushing into the room just behind it. "Fun''s started!" She swung down, hard. The automaton crumpled under that massive weight, falling to the side with a loud clunk. Another tried to tackle her, but she stood solidly in place, and let Theodoren reduce it to scrap before kicking it off. With a swing of her shielded arm, she bashed one aside just in time to meet the heavy head of her hammer. It crumpled against a wall, crushed and broken. "I am having fun with this." She hefted her hammer again while casting a heal on Cedric, then smashed a construct in half. "How could I forget how fun it is to be a paladin?" One robot didn''t charge at her, instead sauntering with a smoldering gaze. She was mostly a robot, like the others, with just enough flesh to make her a her, with curves in the right place and that faint pout to her lips. "No fighting, please." Daisy paused, hammer raised, ready to bring down on the next attacker. She gazed down at that curvy figure. Then she turned away to bash another robot. The last one standing was the sexy one. "What''s your deal? If you''re going to seduce me, save your breath." "Error, incorrect target." She pointed at herself. "I have been seduced. You are the seductress." Daisy blinked, holding the warhammer high. Her eyes darted down herself, checking if she had done something odd. "Okay, I am lost." She looked over her shoulder, back at the robot woman. Cedric''s eyes widened. "Remember what Elina said? It''s actually working. You''re attracting them, um, some of them at least." He smiled. "You are cute." Daisy shrugged. "And I''m just kind of standing here. Not doing anything to get her to like me." She looked to the side. "I can''t kill a friendly thing." The robot slid closer, wrapping one arm around the flustered Daisy. "What is your command?" She blinked and looked to Cedric and then Theodoren. "This isn''t happening." Theodoren nodded slowly. "It''s sure happening. What will you do? I don''t think she''s going away." He scratched behind his head. "Pity she''s undead. She''d be a looker otherwise. I''m not into dead people." "Error, not undead." Theo blinked. "I mean, it looks pretty clear. You look like undead to me." Daisy raised her hand. "Wait, I can check." She reached out towards the robot woman. With a pulse of healing magic, nothing happened to the automaton. They neither healed nor sizzled like acid had been thrown on them. "Huh, more robot than undead? That''s interesting." "Affirmative, this unit is mechanical, not undead." She smiled at Daisy. "What is my directive?" Daisy shrugged gently, her hammer on her shoulder. "What is your name first?" "My serial number is¡ª" The robot rattled off a long series of numbers and letters. "You can assign me a different name. Unit stands ready." The metal figure stood up straight, her hands at her side, an eager look on her face, as eager as she could be. "Awaiting orders." Cedric laughed and approached, one hand on the robot''s shoulder, the other hand on Daisy. "Well, we have a friend. She''s a construct, like me. I can understand that. Um, hey, can you leave the dungeon?" This content has been misappropriated from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere. "Negative, unit cannot leave the dungeon." Daisy let out a soft hum. "You''re still part of the dungeon, even if you like me. Guess we''re not keeping you. Not your fault, but I''m not going to stay here." She tilted her head. "You are here now. How can I serve you? I am programmed with over 50 means of satisfying the needs of organics." Theodoren stepped around. "Yeah, you really want to please us." He chuckled, looking towards Daisy. "Are you actually interested in her?" He gestured with his wand. "I''m not leaving you, but I''m just curious how your power is affecting this." Daisy colored softly. "I didn''t ask for a personal sexbot, with some dead parts bolted on for extra spice." She patted the eager robot. "Come with us and help us fight any robots that try to attack us. We have a dungeon to defeat. I am going to be ready." Theodoren stepped up beside Daisy, gently taking her hand to give it a squeeze. "Let''s go find them then!" She nodded, and marched forward with Theodoren at her side, and the mechanical woman just behind. "Is this a good idea?" She glanced down at the hand holding hers. Cedric came up close to her other side, his hand on her thigh, stroking softly. "She seems to really want to help, oh, and here''s a chance to see." He stepped back, pointing towards another mechanical beastie. "Get ''em!" The robot woman dashed in front of Daisy, her fingers growing into sharp claws. In moments, the robot was scrap. Daisy thought to check. The robot lady was considered part of the family, and was buffing her just for being there. "This could get out of hand really fast. Oh, have my blessing." She spread her hands, blowing a kiss towards the robot. A soft shimmer showed the buff had landed. "Go and keep smashing anything that tries to hurt us." The robot turned her head to look back. "I will, my master." She smiled happily and turned back to the fray. Her mechanical body moved with the grace of a dancer as she dodged blows and returned them in kind with a sharp blade. With Daisy at the center, their group pushed through waves of robots, most becoming scrap. A few joined their side, like the first. They were not all the same model, and they collected them as they pushed ahead. The higher her family number got, the more Daisy felt a building euphoria. It was just plain good to have more family, like a hit of some strange drug. Her power grew with each addition, making her blows harder, her shield blocking bigger blows. She kept track and healed when needed, but her allies were all competent and she lacked for little time to get the heals off. It didn''t help that her presence was toughening them all, allowing their team to be a wrecking ball through the dungeon. Theodoren was smiling the whole time, as he sent bolt after bolt into the enemy forces. Cedric was grinning as he smashed smaller robots with his magic. The robot lady was leading the way with the others behind. Cedric and Theo could watch while Daisy was busy looking at the mechanical figures. Daisy couldn''t keep her eyes off them, and their forms. They were all her family, and she couldn''t stop smiling. They arrived at the boss door and a new prompt appeared before her. ©¤Engage in Dungeon Conquest battle? "Yes!" Daisy''s shout was echoed by her allies, the robots and the magic beings that had also joined her. "Let''s take this dungeon for my family!" She pushed open the doors and found herself in a room filled with robots of all sizes. In the center, a monitor rose, bits and pieces rushing towards it to form its body. "This is my home. You will not take it from me!" Daisy strode into the middle of the room, shield forward, hammer ready to strike. She didn''t get a single swing in before the room exploded into action. She found herself beset on all sides, but she bashed robots away, healing those under her aura, and let her family do their part. With a thousand strikes going out and coming in, she spent more time sending healing magic towards the most scraped rather than bashing things herself. "Everyone! Hit that one!" She pointed at the large one in the center. "I''ll keep you upright." She grinned towards Theodoren and Cedric. "You two are with me. She charged with them alongside her, a mighty war cry escaping her lips. Her warhammer smashed into a foe that tried to block her, knocking it out of the air. She raised her hammer high again, and brought it down against another. They weren''t trying to attack, instead defending the central monitor. "You have a family too." "They are me." The monitor sent arcs of electricity crackling across the room. "I am them. We are one." Cedric raised his staff, blocking the next bolt. He returned with a bolt of his own. "We can beat you!" "Affirmative, nothing can withstand my master''s attention!" Daisy''s first robot darted through the fray, reaching for the monitor and trying to tear out its power cords. The monitor caught her and in an instant, crushed her into pieces. Daisy felt her heart get torn in that instant. Her family, crushed so quickly? ©¤Revenge activated. She saw red. Her warhammer was nothing, a mere toy. She dropped it without care and charged the monitor with shield forward. She bashed into it, crushing it against a wall, then hit twice more to send bits scattering across the room. "YOU HURT MY FAMILY!" The red faded, but her anger remained. She spun and with her free hand pointed at the shattered form of her first robot. Her words were an angry slur, only meaning something to her. With a burst of magic, the form pieced itself back together, and the machine stirred. ©¤Dungeon conquered! Daisy fell to her knees, gasping for air as the red faded entirely from her vision. She slumped the rest of the way, panting for breath. There was a new prompt begging for her attention, but she ignored it for the moment. "Everyone okay?" Cedric shook his head. "The robots are gone. Everything''s gone! I saw you get angry and then everything was just, poof!" Daisy frowned and pushed herself upright. She looked around the empty room, then to Theo. "Where''s the robot lady?" Theo crossed his arms. "Not a clue. She got busted, you got pissed, then everything went away. It''s like we''re in an empty basement?" Daisy finally looked at the prompt. ©¤What is the nature of this dungeon? It had dozens on dozens of questions, clearly designed to create a dungeon of her own whims. "Oh crap." Daisy rubbed behind her head. "Oh wow. No. No! No." She pointed to the prompt. "I conquered this dungeon!" Her face fell, ears drooping with it. "And I can build my own family." Her voice trailed off. "Is this a good thing?" She shook her head anew. "N-no." She fought against the great feelings she had, being at the center of a huge family. "I want to have a life, not retire in a dungeon, damn it." Theodoren approached and put his hand on her shoulder. Cedric approached her other side and hugged her as tight as he could manage. "Daisy, I know you can make the right choice." Theodoren laughed tensely. "But, before you do that, catch us up? What are you seeing?" She sighed gently and gestured again to the prompt. "I get to customize my dungeon. The way it looks, smells, feels. The monsters inside. Everything. And the robots that joined me, they are just gone." She slammed her hand down on the haft of her hammer, grabbing it in the motion. "Damn it. She had it wrong! Everyone had the whole thing wrong. Brood mice aren''t breeders." "What?" Theodoren''s ears shot upright. "You mean we''re about to be overrun with rabbits and foxes?" He looked to Cedric. "What''s she talking about? What do brood mice do, then?" Cedric looked about as clueless. "W-what he said. What do brood mice do then, if not, um, breed?" He rubbed his hands together nervously. "You were always more than that, Daisy." "Thank you." She folded her arms, taking the hammer with the motion. "But I think brood mice are hoarders, of monsters. They''re full of mice because a brood mouse took over the dungeon. They''re dungeon masters." She laughed anew. "God, fled to another world, still a dungeon master. That''s not even funny." Cedric chuckled and shrugged. "So you get your own dungeon. That sounds pretty neat!" "I don''t want my own dungeon, you idiot." Daisy turned towards the exit. "I don''t want my own dungeon." She stood up with a grunt. "If I make a dungeon, I''ll want to stay there. The Daisy you knew will be done, just another boss in a dungeon. Happy, but just that in the end." She started to march away. She made it all of two steps before the door was replaced by another wall. ©¤You may not leave until the Dungeon is customized to your liking. "Damn it." She threw up her hands. "Seriously? Fine." She raised her fingers as if she were typing at a computer. "If that''s the only way out." She sighed and looked through the options. It was a long, long, list. "I''m going to get busy." Theodoren watched, his tail swaying slowly behind him. "Where do we start?" Daisy was busily tapping away at the keyboard they couldn''t see. "I''ll make a nice place for people who come after us. Shoot, sorry. Conquering the dungeon looks like no end loot for us. Entirely my fault. We can make up for it by turning this into an adventurer''s paradise. I''ll do my best." She paused to look at Cedric and then Theodoren. "And I want you two to make sure I get out of here, no matter how much I complain." "Complain?" "When I hit the last button, the new dungeon will be full of monsters, and they''ll all be family. I will not want to leave." She smacked a spectral button. "Make me leave. Please." "O-okay." Cedric''s ears drooped and his tail swished around. "But, um, what about the dungeon? What are you going to change?" Daisy gestured at the room around them. "Everything. Oh, last button." She hovered her finger over it. "Ready?" What Are Brood Mice This narrative has been purloined without the author''s approval. Report any appearances on Amazon. The sun felt warm and she sat back with a smile. The day had been relaxing, if nothing else. A new book, a new place to read it. Cedric was still in class. Theo had wandered off somewhere. She was on her own until Cedric was done, and that was fine by her. The bench lurched as someone sat on it. She peeked to see who it was, but didn''t recognize them. "Hey," she offered with one raised hand. When the new girl spoke, the mystery was broken, "Enjoying yourself?" Selena smirked, not a feline anymore. She looked like a small rat with a twitchy tail. Daisy smiled back at her and nodded. "This book is good." She flipped the page. "And yes, I am. You? How are those classes going?" "I''m learning a lot, but it''s not easy." She folded her arms. "How do you deal with a naked tail? I can feel every little breeze." She shuddered with the thought. "It''s very distracting." Daisy rolled an ear back. "Mice don''t have naked tails." She grabbed her tail with her free hand to show it. "See? Furry. Why the rat look?" "Because you''re making me jealous." Her tail flicked again. "I thought it would be nice, but it''s so hard to get used to!" Daisy smiled gently. "Sorry. You shouldn''t be jealous of me." She wrinkled her nose. "Most people have complications you don''t see on the surface, mucking things up." "Maybe you do. Still..." Selena sighed softly and settled back. "I just feel like I''m doing everything wrong in this world." Daisy let out a long sigh at that. "Yeah. Been there." Her ears shifted as she thought back. "I doubt we''re talking about the same thing. Hm, so, how are your grades?" "Pretty good so far." Selena looked up and away. "I haven''t messed up too much yet." "Well that''s not so bad then, is it?" Daisy flipped another page of her book. "A student of magic doing well at that. Why do you think you''re doing badly?" Selena frowned. "Because I don''t stand out." She leveled a finger at Daisy. "Unlike you. Everyone''s looking at you. How long have you been here? You still get looks." Daisy shrugged lightly. "And I''ll never stop. Do you really think it''s all admiration? They can be looking for dozens of reasons. Some of those aren''t very good." Her voice was calm and gentle. "And it''s annoying more often than not. The moment you have fame, it''s easy to realize why you may not want it." "I would rather have it and make it my own than sit in your shadow," Selena said with a frown. "And I intend to start making my mark." Daisy leaned forward curiously. "By imitating me?" She looked Selena over. "You do make a cute rat, but I may be rodent-biased at this point." Selena''s tail flicked. "It won''t just be by that." Her eyes narrowed. "I''m going to outdo you. You''ll see!" Daisy laughed at that, clapping her hands. "You''re welcome to try, but now I''m curious what you have in mind, and worried it''ll hurt you, or someone around you." She reached over and put her hand on the rat girl''s arm. "Be careful? I don''t want us to be enemies. It''d be nice to have more friends." Selena pulled away with a pout. "Ugh! Sexy and modest. You one-upped me, again." She hopped to her feet and danced in place. "And you got married! To two!" She held up two fingers. "And I''m still trying to get anyone''s attention! I didn''t come here to sit on the sidelines." "Sorry," Daisy said as she reached up to scratch at an ear. "I, um, wasn''t trying to take anyone. Maybe I could help you?" Selena snorted at that. "Help me?" She glared at the mouse woman. "You expect me to believe you''d put in the work to make me into some sex bomb?" Mental images of such danced through Daisy''s mind. "Maybe? Is that even what you want? I''m increasingly unsure." She set her book down. "You''re jealous of my body, but also want to get ahead in school. Are you trying to get someone''s attention, or show me up in some way? You don''t want sexy, specifically. You want something that stands out and gets noticed." Did you know this text is from a different site? Read the official version to support the creator. "Fine! You don''t need to pick my dreams apart." She turned and kicked a pebble on the path. "It would be nice if a boy looked at me." Daisy set her whiskers askew. "Sorry." She folded her book closed. "It''s just, this." She waved at the floating sign just above her breasts. "It''s not lying. I am a mutagen source." Selena''s ears perked. "Oh." She rubbed her chin. "You''re right." She sniffed Daisy. "I can smell it, too." Daisy jerked at that. "There''s a specific smell to that?" Selena shrugged as she stood. "To most people, no. Me?" She directed a pointer finger at herself. "I love mutagens, and have spent more than enough time getting a sniff of a few. They have a smell, under the other stuff. Each one''s different, but mutagen, itself, has a core smell." She twitched her sensitive nose. "If you learn, which most don''t do." She flashed a cocky smile. "Beat you in something at least." Daisy laughed with a soft roll of her ears. "You got me there. And here I thought my nose was good. So, um, why don''t I smell it? It''s inside me." Selena rolled her eyes. "It''s subtle if you aren''t looking for it. You can''t even hear your own heartbeat until someone points out it''s there, right?" Daisy was still a moment. "Dang it, now I can hear it." But she burst into laughter at the whole thing. "You have a point. Clever little thing." "I''m not little." Selena put her hands at her hips, tail lashing. It hit her a moment later. "Okay, compared to you, and in this form, a little small." She sighed and sat back on the bench, arms folded. Daisy watched her tail lash around with every motion. It was adorable and distracting. She reached over and stilled it with one hand. "You looked pretty used to cat tails. They''re twitchy too, but in a different way." She let go of it. "You''ll get used to that one. It''s cute!" Selena jerked away from that. "Don''t do that without asking." She rolled her eyes. "You have absolutely no etiquette when it comes to these things. Worse, everyone just forgives you." Daisy shook her head. "Sorry." She rubbed behind one ear. "I''m used to being very open with my partners about that kind of stuff. I don''t know enough about your culture to know where the lines are. I''m not even sure where the lines are here, really." Selena stared at her for a long moment. "Wait. Wait! You''re an otherworlder?" She blinked in surprise. "I knew the whole story sounded nuts, but if that''s true, it all makes sense." She fluffed her whiskers out and curled them back down. "You don''t know how everything works because you''re brand new." She clapped her hands. "You just lucked into this whole thing, you rotten mouse! Here I was thinking you were some sexy vixen, all experienced and stuff. Nope!" She pointed at Daisy with both hands, her tail lashing as she spoke. "You''re new!" Daisy rolled her head to the side. "You are laying it on a little thick, hm? Glad you''re feeling better at least. Maybe we can be friends?" She stuck her tongue out in a cute way. "If I was a vixen, I could still be new, but I get what you mean. You think that makes you better than me?" "Yes." There was not even a hint of doubt in her. "And I''ll prove it." With giggles, she fled. Daisy watched the tiny rat girl hurry away, then picked her book back up and settled into it. Cedric arrived shortly afterwards. "Hey, I''m done with class for the day!" Daisy caught him when he was close enough and pulled the rabbit man into her lap. "Learn anything fun today?" She pet his belly as she waited for the reply. "I learned more about how to handle magic items and how to identify them." He hugged Daisy and leaned back into her. "What did you do today?" "I sat around reading. I don''t know where Theo is. Oh, and Selena stopped by." She frowned at that. "I think she wants to be my rival." She wrinkled her snout at the idea. "I''m really not sure if I''m annoyed, tickled, or put out. Can you be all three?" Cedric''s nose twitched. "Maybe?" Daisy let the moment linger as he rested against her breasts. "So, what are we doing tonight?" "Staying in and getting some studying done?" He offered with a weak smile. "I have more school tomorrow. If you want to do something far out of town, I''ll need a little warning." She patted his chest lightly. "I can make it worth your while." Her tail curled as she considered what to do next. "Or we could just relax on a couch. If you''re okay with that, of course." She clicked her tongue. "Actually, I know a dungeon near here that''s not even on any of the maps, the one I arrived in. It has a dragon for a boss." Cedric stared at her for a moment. "You want to go fight a dragon? You are bored!" She laughed at that. "I want to see if he remembers me. I remember him plenty. If he does, I have a question or two before we probably move on to pummeling him. Besides, there were monster mice in that dungeon. Asking them some questions may be useful, since they knew what a brood mouse was last I ran into them." Cedric shrugged. "So long as we''re back in time for classes tomorrow, I think I can help with this. I''ll go see if Theo wants to come." He frowned slightly, then hopped off her lap and hurried away, or at least that was the plan. His feet pedaled wildly, but didn''t reach the ground. Daisy was holding him up. "Not today. You just asked for warning, so this is warning. Tonight, if you want to do anything, maybe get something tasty?" She set him back down on her lap. Cedric nodded slowly. "You got it!" He leaned against her more firmly and wrapped his arms around her. "Do we have to go anywhere tonight?" Daisy rubbed gently along his back. "If you''d rather make this a night at home, I can be talked into it fairly easily." He leaned into her. "Thank you." There, they waited, looking as surprised as they had the first time. The same one stepped forward, pointing at Daisy. "I didn''t expect to see a brood mouse. Let''s get them." Another waved Cedric and Theo aside. "Get lost." They looked at Daisy. "Just sit down and let us take care of you, brood-mouse." The guard smiled and gestured to her. "We won''t harm you. We promise." Daisy inclined her head faintly. "Like a recording. Let''s put a pause on that." She held up one hand. "I have questions for you." A third laughed at her. "Why would we answer you?" She rolled her eyes. "Because you probably have nothing to lose from it? You want me, and you sure won''t get me by being rude." The three mice looked between each other and the leader stepped forward. "Ask your questions." He gestured at her. "Why are you, specifically, looking for a brood mouse? What do they mean, to you?" She pointed to each of them as she asked this. He looked around himself and stepped forward. "We had a brood-mouse among us once. It was the best time of our lives, so we want another." She tapped her nose in thought. "Huh, I''m literally replacing some unseen brood mouse? Let me guess, she was basically the mother of the group?" All three of the mice nodded to her. Daisy laughed and clapped once, the sound sharp in the quiet of the hallway. "Oh! This makes sense now. You lost your mother. You see someone that fits the bill." She turned away from them. "A pity I won''t be doing that. You''re all stuck in this dungeon, and I don''t want to be." She gestured for Cedric and Theo to follow. The mouse''s eyes widened and he held his hand out. "Wait... Don''t you want to be the brood mouse we''re looking for?" Daisy peeked over her shoulder. "I already had the chance to rule a dungeon. I don''t plan to start now, sorry. Besides, you haven''t earned me yet." She turned away as the mouse tried to come after her, only to be stopped by a held up dagger. "Back up. I do know how to use this." The mouse stopped and shook his head. "But... what if I want something to care about?" "Sounds like you should have been nicer to the last one, maybe she''d still be here." Daisy rubbed at her cheek. "Why did she leave anyway?" He stopped, looking back down the hall, but the other two said nothing. "We... were mean. We made her cry, and when she went to her room to cry, we didn''t comfort her." Daisy wagged her finger at the group. "You deserve her leaving then, sounds like. I''m not her, so apologizing to me won''t help." She thought to when she first arrived in the world. "I guess I was in the right place." She patted Theo on his shoulder, then Cedric. "Let''s get out of here and figure out where we go next." *** They stepped out of the dungeon, the fresh air a welcome change from the musty air of the dungeon below. Daisy stretched for the sky, working her entire body. "Go out, slay a dragon. Just a happy normal day for us!" She took a moment to share high fives with each of them. "Speaking of that, how common, or rare, are dragons overall?" Theo held up a hand as he took a moment to think. "Not super common, but they exist." He rubbed at his back, his tail flicking. "If you want to hunt more dragons, we could find some more." He laughed softly. "It''s a little out there, but..." She gently touched Theo''s shoulder. "I was more curious how big of a deal that fight was. Sounds like it isn''t the stuff of legends on its own." She stepped out of the cave, looking up and down the rocky canyon. "Let''s talk about our adventure on the way home."A case of content theft: this narrative is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation. Cedric held up his hands in excitement, his tail lashing with it. "We can talk about more adventures on the way there. I''m glad we did this, it was fun." He dug out a small book. "And I feel like I made some real progress in my casting. This is good practice." Daisy paused to pat Cedric''s head gently. "You did great today, both of you. Proud of you boys." *** Back in town, not that far away, she swatted them both on the back. "You''re free to resume your scholarly ways, my erudite boys." Cedric blinked several times. "Do I know what erudite means?" Theo slapped his own face with a groan. "She called us educated. Educated in a rude way, by the tone." Daisy stuck out her tongue. "I''m just playing. You''re nerds, but so am I. Go on and do some nerdy things. I can''t wait to hear about it later." Cedric bowed gently. "Thank you, Daisy." Theo waved and they headed towards their room. Daisy went her own direction, to the office of Doctor Elina. The doctor was busy scribbling notes when Daisy entered. "Elina," sang out Daisy as she skipped towards Elina''s desk. "There once was another brood mouse, not far from here. She abandoned her dungeon, and at least a few of the monsters still miss her. They thought I was going to replace her, before the dragon." Daisy watched as the human woman continued to scribble notes without seeming to pay attention to her words, and that made her smile. "So, I got myself some magic bracers." She waved the new bracers at the end of her arms. "Make my healing better." Elina looked up from her work and nodded once. "You look lovely, though I don''t think I care much for your new fashion statement." She reached to tap the bracers with a finger. Daisy''s ears pinkened. "They don''t look nice? I''ll admit, I have zero fashion sense. Be honest." Elina stood and took Daisy''s wrist to look at the bracers closer. "It is a good look for you, so you can keep it. They just look like they could use a bit more decoration." "Like?" Daisy didn''t fight Elina holding her arm. "I am in your hands, literally at the moment. What do you suggest?" Her tail swayed with obvious curiosity as she leaned in. "I''m all ears." "I can''t believe you just said that." Elina laughed softly and let Daisy''s arm go. "You need something else on there, something to draw attention. A symbol, perhaps, or an item to carry with you." Daisy curled an arm, bringing a bracer into view. "Hm. I''ll go shopping later." She tucked her hands behind her back. "Did you hear anything I said about my last trip?" Elina looked up from her own thoughts. "There was another brood mouse, hm?" She sat, leaning against the desk. "That is very interesting, because you aren''t supposed to be able to abandon a dungeon." "Easily," added Daisy swiftly. "I already abandoned one, and it took a lot of effort and tears. I can only imagine this other brood mouse had a similar experience. Wonder what made her want to leave in the first place." "Interesting." Elina patted her chin with a finger, looking into space. "I suppose it would be possible, but only if she was driven. You said the monsters miss her?" Elina tapped her own cheek. "A group of mice that considered her their mother figure, just like my monsters did with me." She tapped a foot on the ground. "Very typical monsters, even by the look." She shrugged and waved her hand. "I didn''t get too much from them, they were mostly talking about finding her." "That is most interesting. And sad." Elina frowned faintly. "Beasts without a mistress never do well." She sat and resumed scribbling busily. "You defeated that dungeon. Speaking of that, which one was it?" Daisy paused to chew on her lip. "That is the question I wish I could answer." She held her hands out in front of herself. "I know where it is, but not the name. It''s not on any map I''ve seen." "Silly thing." She prodded Daisy with her quill. "Go report that dungeon at the guild. They''ll reward you for reporting new dungeons, you know." Elina smiled softly. "Really?" Daisy tapped the tip of one ear in thought. "Well, it isn''t on my map, so I assume it isn''t on theirs. I should go do that." She took a slow breath. "Before I do that, need anything from me? I''m feeling pretty good, and could go another round today if needed." Elina held up her own hand, then ran it down Daisy''s chest. "No, I think we''re set for now." She patted Daisy gently, making her jiggle with the light strike. "I have papers to write about what we''ve discovered so far. Don''t worry, I will call when I''m ready, my little wonderful lab mouse." Daisy perked an ear at that. "Is that a species? Are there lab mice? That would be so cute!" Elina smiled softly. "Not that I know of." She held up her pen again and then ran it over Daisy''s arm, gently tickling the mouse woman. "Though I''m sure you could create them, if you wanted to." "Don''t tempt me." She huffed a sigh at the thought. "Besides, I''d need volunteers. I''m not a monster that''ll grab helpless victims and force them into it." Elina looked Daisy over, eyes narrow. "No, you aren''t a monster, I suppose. Go report that dungeon, and stop being naughty." She waved Daisy away with her pen before she turned back to her desk. "You''re the one being naughty, sheesh." She turned with a flick of her tail and marched out of the office. As soon as she was gone from view, she couldn''t help but break into a fit of giggles. "Elina is fun." Satisfied, she strolled for the guild directly. Side Quest Enjoying this book? Seek out the original to ensure the author gets credit. She didn''t seem scared of them, so much as just nervous about being so close. She slid in closer on purpose, striding alongside her. "I don''t bite, promise. I don''t have anything wrong with me." The woman put a hand on her own shoulder. "I don''t think you do, no. You are just very different from everyone I know. It''s strange to meet someone that looks like a monster that I can actually talk to." Her smile was nervous. Theo stepped ahead of them, looking back and forth between them both. "We don''t mean you any harm. We are just protecting you until we get you home." "Exactly." Daisy dipped her head low. "I''m sorry if the sign''s putting you off. That shouldn''t be an issue unless you get way thirstier than you appear to be and forget your manners." Maria''s eyes drifted over Daisy''s body before she jerked them away. "Well, no need for that, right? You can still talk, even if you aren''t exactly human, anymore." Daisy perked a round ear at that. "How did you know I used to be?" She spotted something that drew her hand forward, brushing Maria''s hair, or trying as the woman ducked away. "Are you alright? Let me see, I am a healer." Maria ducked her head and ran up to walk closer to Theo. "I''m fine. I just, um..." She bit at her lip. "You''re intimidating, alright? I don''t know how to deal with that." Daisy let her hands glow with her healing power and gently prodded Theo with one, sending a healing pulse through him. "See, no harm here. I''m a big soft nothing if you''re not attacking us." Cedric smiled nervously and held out a hand to let Daisy heal him as well. "She doesn''t hurt people unless she needs to. We can take care of any problems we run into." Daisy bobbed her head. "Exactly, now let me see." She stepped in a bit closer to Daisy. "If you''re hurt, let''s fix that." Maria shook her head rapidly. "I''m not hurt, thank you." Daisy''s ears twitched with her growing frustration. "You are hurt. I don''t know if you''re scared, but I am a healer, and I''m not going to hurt you." With Maria not having backed up, she quickly flipped the same hair out of the way, but didn''t reveal an injury so much as a green sharp ear that didn''t belong on a human girl. "Oh, hello. What''s that? You''ve got elf in your family tree?" Maria pulled away, putting her back to a nearby tree, her eyes wide with alarm. "N-no, I am human." Theo clucked his tongue. "Dang, the grablins did get her. Did one of them, uh, make you, you know, service them?" He pointed at his mouth and mimed the lewd act with soft sucking sounds and a complete lack of tact. Maria''s face went red with embarrassment, and she shook her head. "I didn''t, no, please stop talking about that." She put a hand on her forehead to wipe away the sweat. Daisy gently hugged Maria, lifting her right from the ground. "We are not here to hurt you. You''re scared, I get that. If this is a secret, we won''t tell. We just want to know how we can help you." The woman struggled briefly in Daisy''s grip before she gave in and relaxed. "You''ll laugh." Cedric stepped up next to her as well, though he didn''t try to touch her. "We won''t laugh." Daisy shot Theo a look as if daring him to laugh and risk her ire. "Go ahead, we''re listening." Maria put a hand on the side of her head, taking a slow breath. "There are elves living in the forest. I''m dating one of them." Cedric clasped his hands in front of himself. "Oh." Daisy looked stunned at the news. "Oh! I see. You two must be... getting along very well. Congratulations." She nuzzled Maria gently. "I''m happy to hear it. Is that why you were so far out in the forest?" Maria blushed furiously again and looked away. "Yes. They took me while I was walking back. Don''t tell anyone? Please? I don''t want them to hunt the elves because they think they did this." Daisy brushed that out-of-place ear gently. "Do you like it, or do you want it gone? Be honest." The woman looked down at herself and rubbed at her throat. "I don''t mind. I''m just not used to it." Daisy nodded as she set Maria to her own feet. "There''s no law saying a person can''t enjoy their mutation, and if it came from someone you love, then, well, I''d say it''s a fine thing to enjoy." Theo and Cedric both nodded along with Daisy. "I like it." She ran her hands over herself, making sure nothing else was showing. "They haven''t hurt anyone. I didn''t know the grablins would come this close." "They are a menace." Daisy rolled her eyes and gently nudged them all to resume their walk. "I''ll check if there are any postings about dealing with them, and report where their base is. We may be the ones to clear them out. I was asking, to be clear, because I know a person that can get humans back to all human, if you want. Just let me know." She looked over her shoulder, towards the forest. "No, thank you. I am fine." She followed Daisy''s guidance, but her steps were slow. "I just wish they''d left me alone." Cedric clapped gently. "I''m glad we got to you when we did. Much later and it''d have been too late. Let''s get you back to your friends and family." He smiled gently. "You''ll get to go home, right?" She nodded. "Thank you." Daisy beamed with pride as she led the way back to town. "Glad to meet you. Even in this trying situation." They made their way swiftly back to town. Maria dashed off towards her own things, and Daisy led the others towards the closest guard to report what they had done. "And you can find the grablin den right about there." The man glanced at where Daisy pointed, then nodded and scribbled something on the paper he had with himself. "We appreciate this. We will try to find and destroy the nest before anyone else goes missing." Daisy clapped at that. "Oh, fantastic. They''re not strong by one, but they have a lot more than one. Standard for them, I hear." He smiled up at her, unphased by her size. "You are not wrong. I would also recommend you report your actions to the guild." Theo nodded, speaking for Daisy. "We were going to do that. Daisy insisted we stop by here first to give the location of their den." He tapped his chin with a finger. If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it. Daisy waved them towards the guild. "And now we go get our rewards. Thanks, sir, for the help." "Wait right there," called a familiar voice. Jaspur coming into view with his usual thoughtful frown. He held out something, a badge with the image of a paw on it. "The guard is recruiting people to help us with keeping peace in town. You''ve shown yourself capable, strong, and willing to follow our laws." Daisy recoiled, head snapping back in surprise. "M-me? I thought¡ª" She waved at the floating sign over her chest. "¡ªyou thought I was more of a monster that needed to be watched." Jaspur looked down at Daisy''s feet, then away. "I am glad I have not seen any signs that you were doing anything worse than you did, and you have certainly been keeping your men busy, not letting them loose to cause mischief." Theo bristled at that. "We do not cause mischief!" "Of course not." The guard''s tone was flat. "You seem like good boys." He returned to Daisy with an unchanging expression. "And I would like you to join the guard to help me keep them in line. That you took time away from ''dungeon crawling'' as the adventurers put it to take on this far less rewarding but vital task of protecting your fellow citizen speaks well of your desire to do right by your fellow townsman." Theo and Cedric blinked, stunned. Daisy looked down at herself, rubbing the pads of her paws together nervously. "This is a big question." "It is." Jaspur nodded stiffly. "Go, consider. Return when you have made up your mind. To serve the town and king is a noble deed." Theo started laughing, only to get an elbow in the ribs by Cedric. The fox turned away, holding his chest where he''d been hit. Daisy swatted the both of them. "You aren''t helping." She wrapped her arms around them and led them away from the guards. "Let''s leave them to other pressing business. We''ll talk about this." *** Daisy and the boys made it a short way through town, the crowds giving way to let the large mouse and her companions pass. A lot of people knew her by sight. Some with smiles or friendly waves, others scooting aside hurriedly. One stayed in place, blocking the path. "Daisy!" The voice made it clear it was Selena, returned to her first feline form. "I challenge you!" The crowd stopped as Daisy did. Theo and Cedric looked up at Selena, then Daisy herself. "Keep your cool?" Theo asked hopefully. "Don''t get angry. No violence." Selena''s eyes narrowed. "This isn''t your fight, little boys." She turned her attention back towards Daisy, eyes flashing dangerously. "Go ahead. You were challenged. You get to name the challenge." Daisy rubbed the side of her head. "Really? That''s, um, generous. I didn''t want to fight with you, Selena, but, hm. If it''s my decision, how about an eating contest?" Selena cocked a brow. "You''re twice my size, hardly a fair contest. Go for something that isn''t won by the form we already have." Theo put a hand to his chin in thought. "Something more on even footing. How about a game of chance?" He gestured towards a tavern nearby. "A dice or card game." Selena sighed and turned to face Theo directly, staring him down. "I don''t want to roll dice at her!" Daisy clapped her hands. "Actually, dice may be perfect. We can''t have this contest here though. We need to report something to the guild. After that, we can do this, back at our place." Selena crossed her arms. "You''re stalling!" Cedric laughed nervously. "We''re not stalling. We rescued someone and we''d like to report it. The reward won''t be much, but we still feel a little underpaid. So let''s go get what''s coming, and then we can settle whatever this is." With some grumbling Selena followed along after them. Daisy gently swatted the feline with her long tail on the way. "Why are you so mad at me, anyway? I didn''t do anything to you." "I don''t like being outdone." She grinned and leaned in closer to Daisy. "I''m also a little jealous that you have two boys chasing you all day." Theo and Cedric looked to each other, unsure how they felt about her words. Daisy coughed gently. "They aren''t ''chasing'' when they already caught me." She smiled anew. "This will be fun, look forward to the game I have in mind." They reported their good deed, got their meager pay, and started back for the university dorms. Daisy held the door for her companions before following them in and leading the way. "Now, let''s get comfortable. Would you like some tea?" Selena crossed her arms, her ears flattening. "I came for revenge and to show I can outdo you, not have tea." "You can do both." Daisy sank down to sit on the floor, suddenly eye to eye with Selena. "Alright, so, here''s how this game will work. You''ll roll this die." She showed a twelve-sided die. "The result will tell us what species it is. Theo, make a list of twelve common species. Like cat, dog, squirrel, bunny, etc." Theo blinked at her. "Oh?" He looked between them. "Wait, I know what she has in mind, yes!" He laughed. "No fair. You''re going to make us all change into something else and then have some contest." Daisy flashed a bright smile at Theo. "You are clever, but not all of you. This is Selena''s contest." She slapped her breasts, making them jiggle briefly. "And I am the dispenser of this one. Theo, got that list ready?" Selena narrowed her eyes at Daisy. "What is this contest?" "The die will say which of twelve species you will get. You roll the die, then you come up to me and have a drink, a little drink. A sip, really." Daisy tapped at her breasts. "The sign isn''t a lie. You will get a change towards that species. which bodypart, we leave to the fates to decide." Cedric blinked. "Oh, I see." He held out a sheet of paper with the list Theo had prepared already written on it. Theo grinned anew and laughed. "Oh, I see, I do like this!" Selena looked between the three, her tail lashing behind her. "I am sensing a joke here that I am not getting." Daisy nodded, holding out the die for Selena. "Give it a roll, and endure the changes. If you make it to ten without wanting to give up, I surrender. Easy." Selena frowned at the die. "And what happens if I give up?" "I don''t have to surrender." Daisy rubbed her chin with a smile. "And then I get to keep my boys. And you stop bothering me. If you want to be friends, just say that, you silly person you." Selena rolled the die, and it landed on the number 10. She glanced at the sheet of paper Cedric was still holding out. "Rabbit, okay..." She gave the group a look of suspicion, but leaned up to let Daisy hug her with one arm while she moved in. "You''re okay with this?" "I''m okay with this," assured Daisy, using the same words right back. "Drink, a little." Selena leaned in to press her lips against one of those pink nipples. She shuddered as she drank, taking only a small sip before she pulled away. Daisy warmed in the cheeks faintly but largely sat still, but Selena immediately grabbed at her head. Selena fell back as her ears stretched upwards and turned into large black and white bunny ears. Daisy giggled and helped Selena stay sitting. "See, this is fun, you can win easily." She took the die and passed it back to Selena. "How are you feeling?" Selena groaned, trying to adjust herself to these new ears. "I want another." She rolled again. This time she got an 11 and looked up. "Human? Really?" Daisy gestured at herself with a hand. "Drink. You challenged me, remember?" Selena grumbled as she leaned into Daisy again, drinking from the source of mutations. She fell back onto her rump again, looking down at herself as her body shifted, her fur thinning as long hairs became short and thin, leaving her with silky smooth human flesh. Daisy clapped at the sight. "A naked cat with bunny ears, what an interesting creature you are becoming. Roll the dice, eight to go." Selena grabbed at her head as she felt it shift, her muzzle receding as her face took on a human look with a button nose and full lips. "Oh, this feels so weird." Cedric leaned in. "Oh, more than one change this time. Did you drink more?" Daisy waved Cedric and Theo back. "Shush." She gave Selena''s bottom a pat. "Keep going." Selena rolled the die again and then, before she even looked to the results, she leaned up to take another sip from Daisy''s nipple. Her body shifted and shrank, becoming smaller, more petite, her fur growing short and brown, forming into stripes. Daisy pushed her back before she could get more. "We didn''t even get to see what you rolled. Let''s see what you got out of that. Seven more to win." Selena looked down at herself, her hands patting over her smaller frame, taking in the tiger-striped fur that covered her body. She took the die. "Sorry. I got a little carried away. This is more fun than I thought it''d be." She let the die fly. "There, three." Daisy pointed to the sheet with the number three on it. "Wolf. Go ahead." Selena took her time drinking this one. The changes were subtle as her fingers grew more claw like and her tongue grew rougher, longer, and wetter. She leaned back, panting over that new tongue. "How are you doing this?! This is incredible." Cedric leaned in. "Magic is magic." His eyes ran down the list. "Six left to go." Daisy patted Cedric''s head gently, petting down his back. "Go on, keep rolling. You''re almost halfway." Selena laughed as she rolled the die, holding her hand up as it clattered across the floor. She looked to it and grinned wide, showing her sharp canine teeth. "Nine!" Daisy glanced at the list, tapping the ninth entry. "Mouse." Selena crawled in close again to drink, leaning heavily against Daisy as she sucked. Her body shifted subtly, growing even smaller. She leaned heavily against Daisy afterwards. A Challenge Must Finish If you spot this narrative on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation. Cedric Daisy Theo Selena DaisyTheo DaisyTheo CedricSelena Daisy Interviews, Part 1 Daisy walked along with Theo at her side, carrying a basket. The two had agreed to meet up with Selena for lunch in the park. While they were out, they decided to pick up something to eat on the way. Daisy paid the vendor and dropped it in that basked. "Thank you kindly." The people were looking at her less oddly. More of them were smiling as she approached. Theo chuckled softly as they walked, rubbing his face against her shoulder. "People seem to be getting used to you being around. They''re looking at you less weirdly." Daisy bobbed her head. "Yeah, hum, think it was our rescue work? Maybe we should keep showing everyone we''re a force for good. People will look up to us. We''ll be heroes!" "We''re already heroes," countered Theo. "But I think you''re right." He touched her hand with his own and slid it up her wrist. "One girl is nice and all, but you have an offer to join the guard. If you take it, hum, note that takes you away from us." Daisy looked over the park slowly, then back towards him. "I know, but that''s just a job. You two aren''t." She gently squeezed his hand. "Don''t worry, I''m not going anywhere without you two coming along." She snapped her fingers. "If that means waiting for you two to graduate before considering that, so be it." Theo nuzzled against her arm slowly. "Thank you." His ears perked as he spotted the picnic table Selena had set up. It had a blanket over it and several baskets atop. "Oh, looks like she brought things too." "I sure did," sang out Selena as she returned, thick shark tail swaying behind her. "I need to thank you again." She settled on the bench at the table. "People keep looking at me, and I love it. So many people want to talk to me, too! I think I''ll start making new friends soon, too." She wiggled with excitement. "And the guys are starting to take notice of me." Daisy settled across from Selena. "All good news. Just remember, you can''t say how you ended up this way." She ruffled Selena''s head gently. "Or someone else may try to steal your unique look." Theo grinned at that. "We''ll get jealous when a cute mutant tries to claim our Daisy." Selena waved a hand at Theo. "You know I''m not interested in that, right? It''s not unique if more than one person has it." She pointed to herself, tiger-striped fur bristling. "Right now, only I have it, and I plan to keep it." Her grin slowly fell to a smile, then she glanced aside. "Though I don''t know what I want next." Daisy stroked Selena''s ears lightly, running her fingers through them. "You got what you were after. You can enjoy that, or time to pick a new target. But, first, we''re here to learn more about you." She smiled anew. "What kind of hobbies do you enjoy?" Theo nodded. "And what''s your major?" Daisy looked over Selena carefully. "I think we''re all starting to see you as a friend, but you can say no. People always have the right to say no." "I''m glad you feel that way." Selena rubbed the side of her head slowly. "But I didn''t want to stop last time." She waved a hand at them. "So don''t be afraid to make the offer again." She licked her lips in thought. "But, hobbies, hm." She leaned in. "Bit of a fashionista, but I went minimal today. My body is a work of art and I want to show it off right now. I''ll decorate myself soon enough, to highlight things and draw people''s eyes where I want them." Selena smiled. "And I''m studying business. I''m hoping to start a company someday." She rubbed her cheek slowly. "I don''t know what it is I want to do. I just want to make a place for people that can be good for all of us." Theo snorted gently. "Wow, that is kinda vague. I like the heart at least, a good place for good people. But we have to narrow that down a little." He held up two fingers close together. "You said you like fashion?" Selena nodded. "Yeah. I think I''d be too scared to run a clothing shop. I wouldn''t know if it''d succeed or not." Daisy reached up to stroke over Selena''s head lightly. "Everything fails if you don''t even try." Selena shivered under Daisy''s touch. "That feels good. You know how to find all the sensitive places." She licked her lips. "How about this... I''ll try to get my own business running. But that should wait for after school." She sat up. "Right! You asked about my major." She clapped her hands. "I am an illusionist, or working towards it. I like making people see things that aren''t there, to show them what they could be seeing, instead." Theo pointed at himself with a laugh. "Well, we''re in a few classes together, but I''m not in illusion studies, explains why you''re not in most of them. What year are you?"Love this story? You''ve got a lot of time left to learn what it is you like, and what you want to be." Daisy''s ears lifted high. "Oh, you''re both first years? Fate is kind to us, putting us so close together then." She placed a hand on her chest. "Not that I''m technically a student anymore, I just kinda graduated right out. They said I was done when I figured out I was more of a paladin." Selena smiled at Daisy. "That makes sense. You''re all, what, muscle." She poked one of Daisy''s powerful arms. "No offense, seriously, but you look like you could rip one of us in half if you wanted." Daisy flexed her arm, showing off some of her power, before she relaxed and leaned in closer to the two. "I would never. Now, we should eat. The smell''s making me hungry." As if on cue, her belly grumbled softly. Selena blushed at that. "Oh, right." She opened up a basket and pulled out several sandwiches and bottles of juice, setting them down on the table before taking one each for herself. Theo brought out the pies they had gotten. "Full of everything. Meat, veggies, all the works, in one pie." He laid out the three, one for each of them. Selena sniffed at hers slowly. "Oh, that''s nice, thank you." She held a hand to her cheek. "My last boyfriend only bought me flowers." Daisy inclined her head. "We''re not girlfriends and boyfriends quite yet, but glad to hear we''re making a good show. You''re just a friend, and that''s enough to show up with some quality food at least." She started eating her own, taking big bites. Selena nodded and started into hers. "This is good. Oh, do I get a kiss for that, like last time?" Daisy hiked a brow. "You never got food for me before, what last time?" "During the drinking contest!" Theo answered for Selena. "You two kissed." "Oh, that." Daisy smiled and leaned in closer to Selena, their noses almost touching. "I won''t kiss you for bringing lunch. That''s not a healthy habit." She sat back with a little smirk. "Ask for one just because I like you. There shouldn''t be any other condition hanging on that." Selena blushed darkly. "I''d like a kiss." Daisy gently cupped Selena''s chin with her thumb and forefinger. She pulled her head closer to her own, pressing their lips together gently. It was far from a deep kiss, but it was a real little peck between them. "That''s as much as you get until you get approved by both of them. Theo, did you have another question for our supplicant?" "Yes, actually!" Theo grinned wide and laughed at himself. "Why are you so interested in me and Daisy?" Selena blushed at that. "When I saw you walking around with your big mouse lady friend, I thought she looked really cool, and cute. To be perfectly honest, I wanted to be her, to have all the eyes on me, to be big and loved and¡ª" She hugged herself tightly. "I was so jealous! Thankfully, that''s mostly fixed now. I was afraid she was going to keep all the fun to herself." Daisy gently took one of Selena''s hands between both of hers and squeezed softly. "I don''t know what it is about this town, but it feels like everyone needs some lovin''." It hit her what world she was in. "Oh. Everyone does." Theo inclined his head at that. "What?" Daisy shook her head. "Sorry, knowledge from another world there, but I know the, uh, basic pattern of this one." She imagined the lewd game the world had started as and imagined everyone she knew a moment as a dating potential target with love meters and everything. "I shouldn''t think too hard on that. Just, wow, yeah, we all need a hug, or something, to make things better." Selena nodded slowly, still blushing. "Yeah... Yeah, that''s one way of putting it." Her eyes settled on Theo for a moment, her tail giving a flick. "Can we go back to the dorms soon? I''m not sure how much longer I can keep my hands to myself." Theo reached across to poke Selena in the center of her chest. "Hold your horses. If you had a billion gold coins, what would you spend it on first?" Selena shivered at that as she considered it, rubbing her chin thoughtfully. "That is an interesting question. Maybe some good land for a new company." She shivered softly. "Or a nice place for a shop." Theo wagged a finger slowly. "Advance your dream, I can appreciate that. Next question, a boy''s interested in you and follows you around. He took one of your panties, but you catch him, what do you do?" Daisy blinked rapidly at that one. "Theo, that is a really odd question." Theo held his hands up. "I have reasons for it. Your answer." His eyes were on Selena. She blushed darkly, looking away. "You know, I''ve done that once. I found a guy I thought was cute and gave him my panties, and told him to keep them, as proof I liked him." She wriggled in her seat. "If some boy grabbed one of mine and I caught him, I''d take it back, obviously, then bop him one on the nose for stealing. But, um, probably ask why he likes me, but isn''t brave enough to just say that." Daisy hiked her brows up at that one. "Theo, you''re not into that, right?" He held his hands up defensively. "I''m trying to figure her out, okay?" He looked away from Daisy back to Selena. "I like that answer. You didn''t say you''d have him arrested, or beat the crap out of him, or anything. You actually were willing to give the guy a chance." Daisy reached out and touched Theo''s shoulder. "Are you still mad how I reacted?" He swatted her hand away. "We''re way past that, besides, I did a little more than try to get away with a bit of clothing with you." "Alright, last question. We''re having an amazing day, and the sun is just about to set." Theo looked to Selena with a smile. "Where would you want to watch it?" Selena sat back, chewing on her sandwhich quietly a moment. "Mmm." She swiveled in her seat and pointed up at the clock tower. "If I could pick anywhere, up there. The view must be so great." Theo nodded slowly. "Alright, I am sold on you." He grinned at Daisy. "Are we good?" Daisy hugged him from the side. "No issues from me, but Cedric also has to approve. We all say yes, or we don''t do it. I want us to be a happy family. If we''re not all happy with this situation, then it will be a miserable thing for all of us." She looked down. "Besides, the number is only showing two, so it can''t be three until he says yes too." Brooding Daisy frowned at the message. "I think your monster is close." She rubbed her hands together and looked around, keeping an eye out for any sort of creature. "Any clue what it is?" Selena shrugged, then pointed up. Following that, Daisy spotted a large, furry creature hanging from the ceiling. It had long claws, and an elongated snout. Most strikingly, it was dressed in quite the fashionable set of clothing in defiance of its bestial nature, with a sharp top-hat and bowtie. Daisy jumped back from the creature as its name appeared before her. Vampire Sloth? "That is either hilarious or someone needs to die, or both." Selena nodded in agreement. "It is a cute beast. And if it has that clothing mutagen, I want it. Dead, I mean." She pointed at the beast. "I wonder if you can just knock it out?" The creature poked an eye open and looked towards the two girls. A smile appeared on its face as it seemed to realize it had two new playmates. "Not twice in a day." Daisy stepped forward with a great sweep of her heavy weapon. The sloth barely dodged and slashed her along her stomach with its claws, making her yowl as blood splashed across its fur. It gave another toothy smile. Daisy wavered, but didn''t fall, holding herself up by a mix of stubbornness and fear. She felt a strange tingle that spread over her and something pressed as she gained a new attire entirely, dressed as if for an evening at a gala. "Found the mutagen." ©¤Mutagen acquired. "Thanks for repeating me." She ignored the message as she focused her healing energies on herself. Selena jumped down to the ground, looking up at the beast with her hands out. "I''m sorry if this doesn''t work. Please don''t kill me if it doesn''t." She began to weave a complex illusion, one of herself being torn apart, with Daisy lying dead on the ground. The sloth looked surprised, sniffing the air and approaching, slowly. True to sloths, its approach was slow, lacking all the energy it had in the middle of the fight. It approached the two girls and Selena winced, but it just licked their fake bodies a moment before it hopped back up to relax on the ceiling. Daisy casually picked up Selena and slipped from the room. "Nice save, but we do need to maul it to finish this place." "Do we?" Selena flashed a smile with half-lidded eyes. "You said you got the mutagen. What else do we need?" "Well..." Daisy frowned at the ceiling. "I guess that is all we need." Selena grinned, pointing back into the dungeon tunnel. "Then let''s get going, shall we? We don''t have a reason to risk its claws again, right?" She hugged one of Daisy''s powerful legs. "You are just the best, coming with me. I don''t think I coulda handled this all on my own." She nuzzled against the soft fur along Daisy''s thighs. "You''re also so damn sexy." Daisy blushed and pulled Selena into her arms. "Yeah, well, you were great too." She nuzzled her, um, wife? She shook that thought free as they battled their way to the exit. "You really don''t want to see if this place has a spell? That''s good for wizards, right?" Selena nodded slowly. "I''m all for spells, but not at the cost of your health. We know I can get more spells later. I''ll be fine." She stroked one of Daisy''s long ears. "Besides, we got what we came for. This has been a win, already." She looked down her body with a warm sigh. "I can''t wait." Daisy turned one of those stroked ears towards Selena. "That eager to try that mutagen?" She plucked at her new outfit. "Noticed one thing, this one didn''t wear off. Most mutagens slide right off me, but this one''s still here, making me look like I made a wrong turn on the way to some ball." Selena giggled. "You can look through my closet for something you''d like better, but yeah, I can''t wait to try it. I''ve wanted it for weeks now." Selena''s voice was practically a purr. "If you can make this whenever you want, I can dress how I want every day. No more of the basic stuff."Find this and other great novels on the author''s preferred platform. Support original creators! Daisy grinned. "That is good. Pity that sloth didn''t ask me before deciding my wardrobe for me." She rolled her eyes. "I''ll do you the favor at least." They were almost out of the dungeon when Daisy felt a sharp pain along her side. Her eyes went wide as she realized she was being attacked by something, though she didn''t know what. A glance at the message log showed a few lines. She hissed as a new set of slices appeared on her side. "The hell!" She turned quickly, trying to spot what was attacking her. The attacks kept coming. Selena slipped from Daisy''s grasp, clinging close to the wall. "You can do this! Kick it''s ass!" "What am I even fighting?" She swung her hammer in broad arcs, hoping to hit it with luck alone. She wasn''t so lucky. Selena made a pair of Daisy illusions and sent them down the hall. The attacker didn''t take the bait, continuing to focus on the real Daisy. She could feel blood running down her back. Daisy slammed her hammer into the ground, healing energy bursting from the point of impact in a rapidly spreading circle. Her bleeding wounds closed as she felt the pain of a fresh set of cuts appear. Her shield was battered aside as if it wasn''t even there. "Shit shit shit!" Daisy''s swings became desperate, her breathing labored, legs wobbly. She looked to the small hovering window, showing her pheromones turned off. "Dang it." She smacked it with a glare, turning it on as if it could have saved her. Selena started to weave an illusion, but Daisy fell limp to the ground before she could complete it. Selena let out a scream of frustration, fear for Daisy''s life giving her a new sense of desperation. She wove a new spell, but a familiar creature appeared from nothing. The sloth vampire moved in for the prone Daisy. Selena''s spell sent a wall into its face at full speed, sending it flying backwards with a yelp. Selena used another, but the sloth pressed through the illusion, seeing through the trickery this time. "Shit." Selena raised a dagger, gripping it firmly in both hands. The sloth didn''t even hesitate, closing in on Daisy with jaws wide. Selena heard a crack and the beast flew past Daisy, crashing into the far wall. Daisy picked herself from the ground, huffing with a scowl. "Thanks for the help." She held her hand out to Selena. Selena nodded, taking hold. Daisy pulled her close, then swung the hammer again. The sloth tried to avoid the attack, but didn''t make it. The heavy end of the weapon impacted with the undead, smashing him into the wall with a rapidly forming crater around his form. Daisy took a few deep breaths, then headed for the exit. Selena gave her a little pat. "You know I can''t attack, right? It''s an illusionist thing." "Sure you can." Daisy poked Selena. "But that isn''t what you practiced on. That''s why you hauled a warrior in here." She hefted up her spellcasting friend onto her shoulders. "Let''s get out of here." They made their way from the dungeon, leaving it behind and the corpse fading away into mist. "That was close." Daisy nodded, still taking deep breaths, her ears folded back, tail still as stone. "Too close. I was not ready for invisible enemies." She huffed softly. "I let the ball down there, sorry." Selena held her a little closer. "I''m just happy we both got out alive. That counts as a win for me. We''re safe." Her voice was gentle, with a hint of worry. Daisy pulled Selena for a proper hug as they went. "And we got that mutagen you were hunting for. We get to try that when we''re somewhere safe." Selena nodded, tail swishing. "Yes, we sure do. Thank you again for coming with." "No problem." Daisy carried her out, setting her down once she was sure they were safe. Outside the cave system entirely, they could see the sun about to set. "We''ll camp here. Not going to wander at night." Selena nodded in agreement, though her tail kept twitching. She was eager to try that new mutagen. They took a few minutes to gather some small game for their meal and got it cooked with a camp fire. Selena sat as close as she could get to Daisy as they ate and watched the flames. They chattered away about little things. Daisy put a hand atop Selena''s head. "You''re awfully chummy today. Don''t mind, no, but what''s on your mind?" Selena sighed and leaned into the hand, nuzzling it slowly. "I really wanted this mutagen. I didn''t think we''d find it, or that I''d survive, but you were so confident." "Confidence almost got us killed." Daisy folded her arms, thinking back on how things had gone. "Good job buying some time there. It could have gone a lot worse." ©¤Rival Detected!! Daisy blinked at the sudden alert, looking about. "I have a rival?" "You have a what?" Selena looked confused. Daisy shook her head. "I got a new alert. I don''t know what ''rival detected'' is supposed to mean." She shrugged it off for the moment. "We might want to keep watch while we''re asleep. We''ll sleep in shifts." Selena nodded. "I can do that." A soft rustle was heard in the bushes as a form emerged, quite familiar, yet distinct. Another mouse, with thick glasses, and equally generous assets. She smirked at Daisy, rubbing her hands together. "I knew you couldn''t have gone far. Making me come out to find you like that? Rude." "Who are you?" Daisy looked her over. She did look remarkably like her. The newcomer snorted and pushed up her glasses. "Who am I? Who am I?" Her tail lashed rapidly. "You know who I am! Or at least what I am. We''re the same thing." She thrust a finger at Daisy. "We''re brood mice, and you dared to start conquering my dungeon!" Her cheeks flushed. "And what''s more, I was about to have a fun time with the dungeon boss, and you swooped in and took him from me." Daphne pressed close to Daisy, stroking down one her arms. "Selena''s one of yours, right? Tell her to shoo and let the big girls work things out." Daisy blushed, then looked at Selena with helpless confusion. "U-uhm, I don''t know you." Daphne recoiled at that. "So?" She peered into Daisy''s eyes with an intensity. "Seriously? Right! Otherworlder." She shoved Daisy back roughly and turned to Selena. "If I did that to you, how would you feel?" Selena laughed awkwardly. "I would have kissed you?" "Exactly!" Daphne gestured with both hands towards the chimera. "We''re not from your world. You don''t have to know us, you just need to feel it." "Oh." Daisy frowned, crossing her arms as much to shield herself from the world as anything else. "I don''t feel it." "I would be hurt, but the way you''re looking, you''re way more broken than me in this." She casually flicked Daisy''s nose. "Don''t know how it works in your world, but it sounds cold and boring. The sex here isn''t something you think, it''s something you experience. If you can''t feel it, that''s on you, not me." Daisy nodded, rubbing her face slowly. "Sorry, really." Selena patted Daisy softly. "It''s alright, she''s not mad. I think?" Daphne shrugged as she backed up a step. "I feel like I just kicked a puppy. Dang. If you really don''t want to do it the fun way, we could exchange the boring way. Give me full perms to dig around and get what I want, and I return the favor. Cold, clinical, and boring." She snapped her fingers and a large chair appeared behind her. She sat on it. "So how do we do this?" Daisy nodded quickly. "Yes, the second way, please." She opened her system screen. With some tapping at phantom keys, she pulled up her list of mutagens and twirled it around for Daphne to see. "Here, the whole list." "Not even letting me in to dig around like last time? Cold." Daphne laughed as she examined the list. "Huh, I want that chimera. That will be a saucy base for some new creations." She reached and grabbed the screen. Daisy could feel a strange tingle as Daphne took a copy and casually absorbed it. "You''re so young, your only new mutagen? Wait, what''s this?" She flicked the screen onwards. "Half-formed mutagens? For traps? These look fun. Age decreaser? Oh ho ho, that will be a hoot." She grabbed that one with a laugh. "I take it back, you''ve been busy." Selena peered at the space Daphne was looking, but, to her, there was nothing. "What is she doing?" "Looking through my mutagens. She wants to take copies of them to use in her own dungeon." Daisy looked to Daphne as the new mouse continued to browse. "Dungeons have their own rules, you see?" "Each one." Daphne closed the window with a clap. "And it''s up to us to decide them. Now, fair''s fair." She puffed out her chest. "I give full permissions to Daisy. Hope she doesn''t do anything terribly naughty to me." The way she said that was more of an invitation to do exactly that. This book''s true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience. "Oh." Daisy felt her face flush. "Oh, really? Let''s see." She opened a window, but tried to open Daphne''s, and it just worked. "Oh!" She could see all of Daphne''s stats and menus, including the mutagen list. It was a lot to see, all of it displayed before her, hovering in her vision. Curiosity got the better of her and she looked to see what Daphne''s stats were other than the mutagens. She was 100% brood mouse, to no particular surprise. Sexuality? Bisexual with a bar showing exactly how bi she was. Daisy shook her head, not terribly surprised. Family displayed a large number, inside her dungeon and all. Daisy tore her eyes from those. She didn''t want to pry too much. She started to look through the mutagen lists, but was shocked to find out just how many there were. "You have so many." "I''ve been here, doing my job." Daphne crossed her arms. "You wanted that clothing one, didn''t you?" "Ah, right, that one." Daisy dragged it from Daphne to herself with a chime only she could hear. "Selena will appreciate this." But there were so many others, each sounding interesting or fun. "Why are some of them crossed out?" Daphne blinked in surprise at that, then sighed heavily. "You''re still a newbie, newbie." She prodded Daisy between her breasts. "You can''t handle some of these. Practice, come back, and beg me for another peek. I''m feeling generous, but if you take a mutagen that just tears your body apart? That''s on you. Not like you''ll die. You''ll be a pile of goo, then reform." Daisy winced at that mental image. "Let''s avoid the crossed ones." She spotted the vampiric sloth and laughed as she took it. "Alright, I think we have a fair trade, about dozen either way. Thank you." "Good." Daphne smiled as Daisy released her control over her mutagens. "I hope we meet again, but don''t get too close to my dungeon for a few days. I have some work to do." She snapped twice. "Permission reset." Just like that, Daisy was locked out of accessing her things. "Now, before I kick you both out, any final questions?" Daisy nodded. "I have one." She looked towards Selena with a raised brow. "You''re from around here, unlike me. Is fidelity even a concept around here, romantically speaking?" Daphne cocked a brow at that. "Some people swear to only bear or sire children with a particular person, if you mean that? If I say that, I better be good to that person." Daisy rubbed her temples, feeling a headache coming on. "It sounds like it means something different. Okay, thank you." Selena looked between Daphne and Daisy. Her eyes settled on Daisy. "What does fidelity mean where you''re from?" Daisy took in a long, low breath, then exhaled. She gestured upwards as she spoke. "It is when one is romantically bound to another, so they only have sex with their partner, or partners. Having sex with anyone else is cheating, and gets you in trouble." Selena looked baffled at the very idea. "Did you make any promises like that with Theodoren or Cedric? You didn''t with me." Daisy shook her head. "No, but it has been bothering me. I, ah." She blushed, rubbing the back of her head. "I''m worried about being a bad girl for liking other people." Daphne was laughing, a hand resting on her chest as she cackled. She gave a thumbs up. "Good luck, I have no idea what you''re babbling about. You couldn''t offer me enough mutagens to make that kind of agreement." Selena pulled Daisy into a hug. "If you want to play with her, go ahead. It isn''t often two brood mice get a chance to, you know, play with each other." Daisy blushed and hugged back, burying her face in Selena''s neck as she did. "You sure? I don''t want to disappoint you, or the others." Selena tapped Daisy on the underside of her snout. "You never promised any of us that. They''ll only be jealous they didn''t get to see the other brood mouse too." Daphne let out a low chuckle. "Sounds like we''re all in agreement." She slipped close to Daisy, then gave her a stroke along the front of her dress, teasing just under the edges of it. "Now, as I offered before, shall we forget about dungeons a moment and play, brood mouse to brood mouse?" Respawn Help support creative writers by finding and reading their stories on the original site. Selena Daisybrood mice Safely Brooding Daisy sat just outside the dungeon, Selena at her side. She flexed her hands slowly, gripping her heavy hammer fitfully. She said nothing, the silence dragging between them. The forest around them was quiet as well, as if waiting to see what might happen. Daisy lifted a hand, reaching for Selena. Her fingers curled around Selena''s smaller shoulder. "I''m sorry." Selena jumped in surprise. "You''re alive! But what are you sorry for?" She reached to poke Daisy with her own hand. "What is this about?" "That dungeon." Daisy pointed back into the depths of it. "It made me realize how far apart we really are. I''m still not sure what''s normal or right for this place. I know that I love someone, but it''s not really fair to ask her if she loves me when I''m such a lost idiot?" She fell backwards, flopped on the ground limply. "That was awful." "Awful?" Selena slid in next to Daisy, thick tail curling. "You seemed to enjoy it." "In the moment, sure." Daisy waved it away. "My body said I was doing good things, and it was, in the moment. But that was so, guh." She shuddered from her ears down to her tail. "There was no love, no affection. There was no warmth, only passion and desire, and I didn''t care enough to stop it." She fell to her side, hammer hanging loosely from her limp hand. "How many people have I fucked since coming here?" "Well, not me, not yet." Selena stroked Daisy''s ear gently. "You need some time to adjust, don''t worry." "Adjust?" Daisy sat up sharply, almost knocking Selena aside. "Adjust, right." She took a slow breath. "This world has its own rules. My crazy baked in societal expectations mean less than nothing." She pressed a hand to either of her temples. "Damn it all. You''re right." Selena blinked slowly, then laughed as she pulled Daisy close. "Not the point I was going for, but sure. You''re still thinking too much about it, aren''t you?" She nuzzled in at Daisy''s cheek. "You are super loved, and we appreciate your love in kind." Daisy smiled, then pushed Selena away. "I know, and thank you." She pushed up to her feet, lifting her large weapon as if it were nothing. "I have work to do, on myself." She swung the hammer up onto her shoulder, then down into its sheath on her back. "We got what we came for, more than we came for." "You don''t want to play more with Daphne? She seemed eager to continue," Selena offered. Daisy laughed, then shook her head. "I had enough empty lust for one day." She lowered a hand to her belly, imagening the result of their place. As if to answer her, a new status appeared. ©¤ Pregnancy: 7 days remaining until birth. Daisy winced at that. "That''s going to be an experience. I''ll need to put things on hold for a while, I think, to focus on this. Maybe that will be good for me, a chance to think and sort all this out." She laughed tensely. "And I get to really finish finding out what the female experience is like. Fun for all involved. Let''s hurry and get home before the week''s up. Seriously, just a week? Is that normal?" Selena followed after Daisy away from the dungeon. "Not really sure. Different species and such, you know?" She grinned, tail swishing. "You''ll find out first, then tell us." "Great." Daisy smiled back. "Well, I know it''ll be a week." She hastened into almost a jog. "Can you keep up?" She grinned and began to run faster towards home. "Sure, but why are we hurrying?" Daisy''s smile faded as she ran. "I have a ticking bomb inside me. I want to be somewhere safe when it explodes. And by explodes, I mean babies." "Oh!" Selena darted alongside. "I''ll lead, I''m the faster runner here." Her long legs let her take a position in front. The pair hurried quickly back through the caverns. The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement. Hastily, the two returned to Raela. The guards just nodded at them as they hurried past. They knew where they were going. Daisy opened the door to her room to find Cedric already there, working on something with a quill busily. "Hey! You''re home already?" "I''m a fast worker." Daisy smiled at him, setting her weapon and armor aside. "How is school going?" "She''s pregnant," sang out Selena with not a bit of subtlety. Daisy winced, looking down at her belly. "I am." She made a gesture as if to deny it. "It wasn''t planned, I promise." Cedric blinked a few times, then smiled warmly. "Congratulations. Do you plan to keep it?" Daisy blinked at that question. "Woah, wait, are you talking about, um, killing it?" She backed away, both hands on her belly protectively. "No!" Cedric held out a hand as if to calm her. "I meant after it''s born. Are you going to keep it?" Daisy blinked slowly as if rebooting from that line of questioning. "I am going to stop pretending I understand. Please tell me, what are the options? I don''t want to kill the child." She patted Selena''s shoulder. "And thank you for saying it so plainly." "Oh. Sorry." Selena blushed and looked aside. "You''re from a different place, you don''t know our ways, do you?" She leaned in towards Daisy. "When someone has a child, especially unexpectedly or suddenly, they may give it up for adoption. The child is cared for, but the mother isn''t expected to do anything else with them. It''s that simple. We have facilities to care for them until someone adopts them." "I think I''d rather care for them myself." Daisy smiled, then relaxed with a laugh. "I was about to be horrified by the thought that you were suggesting killing it. Geeze. Um. It''s my fault this is happening. I''ll take that responsibility. This isn''t like some wild monster pounced on me and mistakes happened." Cedric nodded. "Fair, and good for you, but I want you to be sure. Don''t just say that in the heat of the moment. You''ve never done this before. If you change your mind when they''re born, that''s fine, though it''s easier now." He smooched Daisy''s tense cheek. "We''re here for you." "Yeah!" Selena pumped a fist in solidarity. "Oh, we met another brood mouse, that was interesting. They''re the dad." "Really? Another brood mouse?" Cedric smiled in amusement. "That must have been fun. What are you going to name the kids?" Daisy winced at that question. "It''s too soon to think about it. Now, seriously, help me out. Should I expect one? Are twins common? All the details you have, share them." "Ah." Cedric blushed at that question. "We could look it up. Let me see what I can find." He grabbed his books and began to leaf through them, looking for answers. "Let''s see here, mice! Brood mice are still mice, mostly, right? According to this, mice have single children roughly a quarter of the time, twins a bit over half the time, and triplets the remainder." "Right, so it won''t be a horde." Daisy smirked at herself. "I was worried if they were like normal mice and had like, twelve at once, I don''t know." She sank to her bed, setting her hammer to rest against the wall. "What a thing to come home with." Cedric scooted to her side, patting her shoulder. "It happens. You wouldn''t stop to help me if I came home with, um, three arms or scales or something, right?" Daisy laughed at that thought. "Of course not. You would still be my dear little bunny boy." Selena huffed, crossing her arms over her chest. "So how do you feel?" Daisy considered that, hand wandering over her covered chest. "I''d fix it, assuming you wanted to be fixed. I''d still love you either way." Cedric patted Daisy''s occupied belly. "And we''re doing the same. We''ll fix it, if you want to be fixed, and love you either way." "You''re right." Daisy smiled with a laugh. "It''s not like my condition is harmful, so there is no need to fix it. It may be a pain, but it isn''t bad." She cringed, thinking of it. "It''s a natural process. This is just something females do, which I am. I just have to relax and listen to my body." She flopped back on the bed. "Ugh, I will die laughing if there''s a minigame during it." Both looked at her with confusion. "Never mind that. I''ll be okay." She curled up on the bed and started to abandon her armor and clothes off to the side. "I''m home, where it''s soft, and warm, and I have people that care if I keep breathing tomorrow or not." "Right!" both said in unison. Selena leaned in and gave Daisy a kiss on the nose. "You need sleep." "You know what?" Daisy smiled tiredly up towards the pair. "I really think I do." Selena turned to Cedric, drawing a vial as she did. "And you will be amazed! This mutagen affects your clothes. One sip, and you''ll be dressed and ready for a gala or a ball. I can''t wait to test it out, but since you are so much smaller, would you try it first?" Cedric eyed the bottle with suspicion. "Is it safe?" "Oh, very!" Selena patted Cedric''s shoulder. Her other hand pressed a vial into his hand. "Besides, I want to see what a guy gets when they try it. It''ll be fun!" Eyes on Cedric Cedric walked through the halls of the school. In his right hand, a broom, in his left, a mop. He was a janitor, but he was dressed oddly for the part. Rather than the typical jumpsuit, he had on an elegant white dress that flowed over one shoulder. A few of the female students admired it, while others just gave curious looks. Once Cedric reached the bathroom, he set about his business, sweeping and mopping everything down with great attention. He didn''t tolerate a single spot to escape his vision and nodded with satisfaction with every little bit he could see was entirely clean. "Clean as can be," Cedric whispered, then smiled as he continued mopping. He worked his way to the far corner and began to work his way back to the door. As he reached the farthest corner from the entrance to the bathroom, he let out a startled squeak. A hand came down on his exposed shoulder. "Aren''t you in the wrong bathroom, even if you''re dressed right?" The soft, silky voice came from a female student. She had a smile on her lips as she leaned close to the small rabbit. "O-oh? Sorry, I''m cleaning this bathroom." Cedric tried to slip away from her and get back to work. "I was just finishing up here, so sorry to have disturbed you. I need to leave now." He gave the girl a smile, then started to walk away from her. But her hand caught him just as easily the second time, pulling him back in a swirl to face her. "What was your name again? I feel like I''ve seen you a few times." The human tapped her chin thoughtfully. "See? Sedan? Something?" Cedric gulped and shook his head. "I''m Cedric." "Ah, yes, Cedric. That''s the one. You have a different way of saying that letter." She placed her hand on his chest. "Now, Cedric, why are you here in the lady''s room dressed like that? I do like what you have going on," she added quickly. "I just want to hear why from you. We all know why you''re in here, really." Cedric winced. "To clean?" The student laughed at the very idea. "I doubt just that. You''d have to be a golem to not have anything." She cut herself off, noticing the way he winced anew. "What? Are you?" She raised a hand in a new spell. "I''m a person," he assured, pushing away from her. "I know," she said. "That wasn''t what I was asking. What are you?" Cedric gulped. "I''m..." She finished her spell, making Cedric glow a strange purple-green with straight lines of blue. "You are a construct. Figures. No wonder you feel nothing." She gave him a light push on the chest. "Sorry to bother you, keep doing whatever your programming says." "I have free will," he blurted, then winced, realizing what that meant he was. She raised an eyebrow at him. "Really now? But I called it, you''re a construct." She made her way to the sink, snickering softly. "A construct that knows when it''s being talked down to. Not sure who thought that was a good idea." He began to walk away, then paused as he opened the door to leave. "What did you expect me to feel?" "What? Nothing, mostly." She hiked a brow at him. "Like most constructs. Get out of here." She made a dismissive shooing motion. Cedric backed out, then paused as he watched her wash her hands. She glanced over at Cedric, then rolled her eyes. "What now?" "My girlfriend would beat you up for talking like that," he said. She paused, blinking. "Your girlfriend?" One could see the thought working through her. "Oh, that''s right! The mouse with the huge rack! I''ve heard about her. So you can feel things, after all? How nice of your master."This novel is published on a different platform. Support the original author by finding the official source. "Daisy isn''t my master." He smiled towards the girl. "And yes, she would, because she likes me." "One, she isn''t here." The girl pressed down a second finger. "Two, I didn''t mention her, you did. Three, you''re here. Sounds to me like you''re trying to start a fight." "No." Cedric smiled brightly towards her. "I just know how she feels and that she would be mad if she heard you." He continued mopping. "You really should be careful, what you say." The door swung open as a few new female mages wandered in, chatting loudly about a class they had just escaped. Oblivious to any tension, they went right past Cedric. Cedric waved to them, then sighed as he started out of the room. "Have a nice day," he called to the woman before leaving. She caught up with him quickly enough, her hands clapping on his shoulders firmly. She easily forced him to face her out in the hallway. "I''m going to get you kicked out of the school. You grabbed me, and I didn''t consent." Cedric shrank in surprise, but caught himself quickly. "T-that won''t work, um, Miss. I can''t do that." He turned from her. "You can say that if you want, then they''ll know you''re a liar." "And who are they gonna believe?" She smiled as she took hold his arm. "Me or you?" "I''m a construct." He tugged himself away. "I can''t go against what I am programmed to do." He swiveled an ear in a nervous tic. "Accosting a student is strictly forbidden. I would sooner self-destruct." "Right, right, but you''re a golem with free will." The girl smiled and leaned against him. "So who is it going to be? You can make a decision, right?" "I can make many decisions." He let out a soft sigh, turning back to her. "But not that one. Violating my basic programming is not something I can do. You cannot hold your breath until you die, usually. I can, if I wanted. I do not. I would much rather spend time with my partners, who would play with me without making fun of me." He smiled and patted her on the chest, just over her heart. "You can do what you want, but I''m a very special construct. My master would notice me being removed." She frowned, pushing his hand away from her. "Whatever." She rolled her eyes dramatically as she stormed down the hallway. Cedric, at least, was free to continue his duties. After that and schooling, he returned home to find the others busy doing their own things, except Daisy, who looked bored. Discerning the best target, he sat next to her. That was signal enough, and she grabbed him, pulling him into a hug from behind. "Have a good day?" She asked as she kissed each of his long ears. "I did!" He leaned against Daisy, then winced, recalling his earlier encounter. "I, um, got accosted by a student." Daisy raised a brow at Cedric. "Accosted?" She rolled a hand, other busy holding him. "Being accosted makes most people stop rating a day as good. Tell me more?" "Um." Cedric wiggled under Daisy, then started over, his voice quaking with some nerves. "A student saw me cleaning the girls'' restroom and started to make a fuss about it, then realized I was a construct and made a fuss about that. Um..." He glanced around at the others who were now looking towards him, listening in on his story. Daisy''s tail curled behind her, and her ears twitched. "That doesn''t sound good to me, but you said it was a good day." He sat up with a nervous laugh. "It was good! Besides that. Just one tense moment, then it was a lovely day." He clasped his hands together. "And I got to come home and be hugged by you. Hard to call any day bad that ends with that." "Uh huh." Daisy stroked his head. "What did you do when they accosted you? Did you call security and get them thrown out for sexually harassing a staff member?" Selena looked up from a book she was reading. "I doubt that." Theo snorted softly. "I''m with Selena, doubt." Cedric laughed tensely. "I did not." The two shared a high five. "I just, um, defended myself." He rubbed an arm awkwardly. "I might have¡ª" "¡ªWere you still wearing this?" Daisy plucked at the dress on Cedric. He winced again. "Yes. But it was just one girl." He nodded to himself. "And she stopped, so it was fine." Daisy squinted at him, as if trying to bore into his brain with eye power. "Get out of that, unless you really like it, in which case, good for you? But I doubt it? You''ve been wearing mostly gender neutral since I met you." "Ah! No!" Cedric sat up and began to pull the dress off quickly. "Just forgot. I felt safe here and wanted to get all close to you and warm you up. Your body is amazing, after all!" She poked him right on his nose, making his whiskers twitch. "You can wear whatever makes you happy in here, but out there, probably best to not rock the boat just existing. Been there, not fun." She trailed a hand towards his clothed shoulder to work it off him. "Off with it, unless you like it?" He blinked slowly, then nodded and allowed her to pull it off. "I don''t really know. I didn''t mind how it felt, but the attention wasn''t great. That''s why I tried to leave." Selena looked guilty. "I was the one that asked him to keep it on. I just wanted to see if his body would reject it. Other mutagens don''t work on him, but the clothing one does, which is amazing! It just feels soft and warm and good. And it fits so well!" Theo sighed and leaned back in his chair. "You really do get up to weird experiments with people''s lives." Remembering Checkups Selena stared at Theo, aghast. "He volunteered for this!" Cedric waved a hand to stop the bickering. "I did volunteer," he assured. "I don''t mind it." Theo rolled a hand. "Just because you don''t, doesn''t make it not weird, is all I''m saying. Why are you okay with it, anyway?" Cedric tapped his chin thoughtfully as he considered it. "I don''t know, honestly. It does make me feel a bit better, sometimes." "Sometimes?" Daisy raised an ear at him. "Have you let us do something that you didn''t enjoy?" "No! Nothing like that." Cedric started to squirm free of his dress, shedding it to the ground. "It fit well, by the way, even while working." "Noted," sang Selena as she took a fresh note. Cedric smiled and leaned against Daisy with a sigh. "Sorry, where was I? Oh yes! It makes me feel more relaxed." He nodded and glanced around the room. "But I think being with you all makes me feel more relaxed." Daisy wrapped her arms around him and settled into the softness of the bed along with him. "If you''re up for it, tell us when you weren''t so relaxed. Did someone not play nicely with your trust?" "Um." Cedric swallowed nervously, but accepted the hug regardless. "It was just one girl today. I went to clean a restroom and¡ª" Daisy gave him a serious stare. "Like you usually do. You are a janitor. Did someone really get upset at that? Seriously?" Cedric blushed and nodded, his ears drooping as he looked down. "Yes." Theo snorted from his place. "I don''t know why you don''t just drop the job and mooch off Daisy like the rest of us." Selena prodded Theo. "What are you talking about? I don''t ask Daisy for money." Cedric smiled awkwardly. "I think you''re the only one that does, Theodoren." "Full name just to call me out." Theo folded his arms. "Fine, the option''s still there though. Feel pretty sure Daisy would cover your tuition in a heartbeat." Daisy raised a hand, nodding. "I would. I do what I can to make my friends happy." "Well, thank you!" Cedric smiled and hugged her arm happily. "I''ll think about it. But you''re an expecting mother, and you plan to keep them. That has costs. I want to help, not rely on you." He nuzzled into her neck, snuggling her form. "Let me support you. Let me help. It feels good to work, anyway, you know?" "I do." Daisy nodded along with that. "I''m not just lying here and getting fat. Well, not just." She ran a hand down along softening lines. "Ugh, I hate it. Going on a diet and amping up my workouts the moment this child is out in the world." Selena blinked. "What? You look gorgeous!" Theo folded his arms. "You do look pretty good, to be fair." Cedric laughed nervously. "I don''t mind it either." Daisy wilted under the concerted approval of her family. "I''m allowed to be healthy. I''m eating what I feel like eating, right now, since I remember faintly that''s a good idea for an expecting mother. I want what''s inside me to get everything it needs, but me, afterwards, can lose a few pounds. I''ll still be soft in all the right places, promise." Cedric nuzzled into one of her breasts, making his feelings clear on the subject. "I don''t know if your weight really matters. You''re already bigger than me." He gestured down over himself. If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. Please report it. Daisy barked into laughter. "That''s a low bar, considering our height difference." She easily pinned Cedric down and blew into his belly, getting laughter out of him. "Sweet little thing." Her hand slipped under his shirt, but paused as she looked at him inquiringly. He gave a small nod, and smiled at the touch as she dragged her hands along his soft belly. With permission given, she casually pet him and enjoyed the touch of his soft rabbit fur. "If there''s one thing." She leaned in, nose to nose with Cedric. "One thing I don''t regret, it''s this family. Love you all so much." "We love you too," Cedric murmured back. He brushed his hand along her side, enjoying the warmth that radiated from her body. "I''m sorry I got accosted by a student again." Theo lobbed an eraser that bounced off Cedric. "Stop apologizing for other people being complete jerks. Cedric, you need to stand up for yourself. You did nothing wrong." He pointed at Selena. "She''s the one who made you wear those clothes for a day." Selena waved a hand dismissively. "I''m pretty sure it''s not related to the clothes." She paused. "I think?" Cedric gave a soft chuckle. "It wasn''t, I promise." He poked Daisy playfully on the nose. "Besides, you like me in dresses." giggled and patted his belly. "I like you whatever you''re wearing, or not." She drew her hand back and rolled over. Internally, she looked to the status that refused to go away. "Just a few more days. Then we get to greet them. Oh, what''s the officialities I need to go through for that?" hummed, looking thoughtful. "Usually there''s an application. It''s pretty easy for a registered parent. The baby needs a checkup, the parents are asked to care for it, and then they get registered." She snapped her fingers. "You do this with a quick visit to the church, or they''d do it for you if you''re doing this at any clinic." blinked softly. "Wait. Church? You have a church? You have a religion?!" She slapped the side of her face. "This is the first I heard of it!" laughed nervously as he sat up, rubbing his belly where he was tickled. "I don''t really think about it much." He tapped his chin. "It''s not like it''s really a part of our daily life." rolled his shoulders as he scribbled. "Speak for yourself. Some people are really into it. Some aren''t. Not like it''s a mandatory thing. And it isn''t just one church." nodded along. "It''s like any religion, really, you can be part of it or not, or be into it casually. Some people take it very seriously, some don''t." She hiked a thumb at herself. "Mine''s pretty cool, and not very popular, which is a point in its favor in my book, thanks." huffed a sigh. "I don''t worship anything." He paused, looked over , then nestled in close. "Let me correct that. I will worship at the altar of any day." giggled, poking his belly softly. "It is good to gain my first faithful, but I can''t promise fantastic rewards for your praises, good sir. Could one of you get me a book on the popular religions going around? I feel so stupid not knowing about it." shrugged. "It hasn''t come up in conversation before." let out a breath. "You know, it''s not like we talk about religion much, anyway. It''s kind of a personal thing." nuzzled in until he was half buried in breast. "I''ll get you a book on it, promise." He smiled, feeling safe and happy in her presence. She gave him a firm squeeze. "Thank you." "Any time." hugged her back. "And, um, I''ll also look into getting the paperwork for having kids ready." made a quick swipe on the paper. "And, done!" He stood up and stretched towards the sky. "No more schoolwork for today. Oh, that reminds me. I saw earlier today." He smirked at . "He asked how you were doing." smiled back. "Oh? How is the old lion?" laughed. "Not sure if I''ve ever heard him called old. He''s barely thirty." He shrugged, his tail swaying behind him. "He and his girl finally moved in together, they''re fine. Seems both of you got into the family way of things." "Wow." rubbed her neck, blushing. "And here I am, pregnant first." She shook out those feelings. "But I get the impression that doesn''t have the same impact as it would where I''m from originally." shook his head. "It means very little. Some schools are harsher about pregnancy than others, though. It''s often considered a distraction. We''re supposed to be focused on our studies." He pointed at . "Lucky for you, you''re not a student here. You''re a lab . Speaking of, you tell about this?" blinked. "I didn''t, actually. Shoot, that''s bad of me." She sat up slowly. "I bet this is affecting the milk. Wonder how she''ll react." She put a finger under her chin. "I''ll go see her right away. What an awful little test subject I''m being." laughed softly. "You''re doing your best." He patted her on the thigh as he got to his feet. "I''ll grab those books for you while you do that." Both headed for the door on their different missions, leaving and behind. glanced aside at Theo. "We have the room to ourselves." poked her in the belly. "You''re not very subtle, are you?" She laughed as she shoved him back onto the bed. "I don''t need to be!" Elina and Plus One Daisy opened the door to find Elina already had company. A human woman was leaning over the desk, examining a small box of samples. The stranger''s hair was cut short, a bright blonde that seemed like she used a lot of chemicals to maintain it. Maybe it was a particular mutagen? Daisy shook the thoughts out of her head, refocusing on the conversation in progress. "But that doesn''t explain what happened," Elina was saying. "It was so strange. I was there, I saw the whole thing, and yet I can''t understand it." The woman leaned back against the desk, arms crossed over her chest. "Then you need to study it. Make a hypothesis, test it. If you''re wrong, you''re wrong, but at least then you know what not to do." Elina sighed softly, rubbing at her temples. "I know what you''re saying, but how am I supposed to test this?" The other woman spotted Daisy at the door. "Ah! Speak of the mouse." She waved towards Daisy. "Come in, don''t be shy. Are you pregnant?" Daisy hesitated in surprise, then laughed. "I guess my belly gives me away?" She was pretty sure it didn''t work that quickly in the world she came from, but she already sported a rounded front from her impending event. "Um, sorry, if this gets in the way of anything. I wasn''t planning on it." "That''s okay!" Elina grinned and patted her shoulder as she walked by. "It''s actually kind of interesting. I need to see what''s changed, changing, and will continue to change. Thank you for coming without being called." She patted Daisy''s arm. "I hope you''re not sick? Or maybe something else." The other woman smirked. "If it''s not sickness, I bet I know why she came here." Daisy glanced between the two. "I figured I really should stop by, let you know what happened, and give you a chance to do your thing. Felt like I was doing a bad job of being a test subject if I didn''t do that much, right?" She laughed nervously. "Who''s your guest?" "Oh, right. This is Saresan. She''s a professor of physics here, as well as my girlfriend," Elina said. Daisy paused, stunned. "Oh! That''s nice." She looked between the two of them. "I really didn''t see this coming, but I should have, looking back. Nice to meet you, Miss Saresan. I''m Daisy." "I know who you are." Saresan smirked at her. "Elina''s been talking about you, and the milk she''s getting for her research." The smirk turned into an amused look. "She''s very excited about it, so thank you." "Oh. No problem." Daisy sank onto a seat, hearing it squeak under her bulk. "Dang, I''ve gotten heavier. Yay for motherhood I guess." "It''s good for you, and for me," Elina said with a laugh. "As an expecting mother, your milk supply will undoubtedly grow, I think. It''s difficult to know with absolute certainty, you being the first one measured." She gestured at Daisy, nodding to Saresan. "You want to try milking the mouse?" Saresan smirked and looked Daisy over. "Do you mind?" she asked. "I''ll admit, I am curious." "Go ahead!" Daisy blushed as she pulled off her shirt, then upper armor, revealing her pregnancy-bloated body and swollen breasts. "It''s, uh, what I''m being paid for." She took a slow breath. "I imagine Elina told you, and the sign hovering there is another warning, but I don''t suggest drinking unless you want to change, and if you do want to change, tell me what you''re hoping for ahead of time." Elina was already working on setting up the pumps. "I am curious what the effect of pregnancy has on your milk. It''s so exciting! This is definitely going to be an amazing paper once we figure out what changes." Saresan smiled as she helped prepare the equipment, leaning over Daisy as she positioned her so that they could hook the suction device onto her nipples. "Are these a pain?" She gestured at the swollen orbs. Daisy pinked with a sudden laugh. "N-no. They don''t hurt at all." She poked one of them. "A little, uh, stiff? Like they''re¡ª" She hissed and shuddered as the machine came to life, draining her with persistent skill that no manual pumping could match. "Damn! Hell, give a warning." She didn''t move, allowing the machine to chug away as a large jar rapidly filled, but her breasts didn''t show any signs of diminishing. Saresan watched with wide eyes. "Wow, that is a lot." She watched the milk flowing out of the mouse''s swollen teats. "No wonder it makes so much cheese. Elina says it tastes really good, too."Love what you''re reading? Discover and support the author on the platform they originally published on. Daisy started with a blink. "Cheese?! When did you start making cheese out of it?" She paused. "How does it taste? That''s maybe an odd question, but I kinda want to know what''s being made out of me." Saresan laughed. "It was delicious. A bit earthy, rich. You should try some." She grinned at Daisy, then leaned close to her, looking directly into her eyes. "Are you feeling okay?" "I''m, uh, fine." She glanced away from Saresan, unable to stay looking at her eyes. "This is kinda nice, like a pressure I had just been used to is going down." Saresan nodded, then leaned in until she was nuzzling against the side of Daisy''s face, kissing it gently. "You know what?" she whispered. Daisy was too shocked to respond, but she did lean into the touch, letting the woman do as she wished. "What?" She reminded herself what world she was in, and its rules. Touching, when not forced, was just not that unusual. Still, her heartbeat quickened. "I think I want more than cheese from you." She cupped one of Daisy''s breasts and squeezed, feeling the warm milk spray into the machine. Daisy shuddered, but didn''t pull away. "I don''t mind, but are you sure? This can be really serious stuff." "I''m sure," Saresan said. Daisy looked towards Elina instead. "I don''t want to transform your girlfriend without you being involved. You''re basically my, um, boss. Please give me a firm order one way or the other." Elina smiled warmly at them both, then nodded. "Go ahead. Do it." She drew closer, grabbing the bottle to remove it from the pump. "Saresan is curious about the taste." Daisy flicked an ear back. "Fresh though? I''m a big tingling pot of mutagens. What do you want to, uh, turn into? Or do you want to be the same, maybe some minor change? Please tell me before you go trying it." Saresan looked over at Elina, then shrugged. "You can change into whatever you like. Just not a man. Or a monster. That''s too weird." Elina nodded in agreement. Daisy threw up a hand. "You''re giving me too much power!" She stuck out her tongue. "I''d feel bad making you two not match. Elina, do you want to kiss an animal person instead of another human?" Elina smirked and made a see-saw motion with a hand. "Sort of? Half of one, three-quarters of the other? I don''t care all that much. I''m a bit curious myself." Daisy looked ready to lodge more complaints when she felt Saresan go in for a proper taste, popping off the cup from one teat and replacing it with her lips. The effect was instantaneous. Saresan let out a soft sigh followed by a contented moan, her eyes rolling into the back of her head as she drank the thick milk. Elina watched in quiet fascination as Saresan''s body started to change. Daisy squeaked, thinking quickly of something for Saresan to turn into, something soft and cute like a sheep or a dog, but not entirely. It only took a few seconds before she felt her heart rate slow down, her mind clearing. She nodded firmly. "I got it!" Saresan''s hair gained a bit of shimmer in the light as it grew out an inch, gaining a more golden look, as if it was meant to be that color, but it was becoming curlier by the moment as it sprouted all over her as she drank more. Daisy was pleased that her transformation plan went without a hitch, but her heart stopped once more when she saw Saresan''s ears change. "Uh... oh..." Daisy squeaked in worry as Saresan''s ears rounded into perfect little circles that slid up along her head, looking too much like a bear, then the golden fur spread to cover them. "Oh no." "Ahem." Elina chuckled behind her hand. "That wasn''t what I expected." Saresan pulled back with a huff of breath, milk dripping down her lips and chin, chest now covered in the soft, golden locks that had covered most of her. She was a combination of golden sheep and bear, giving her an odd look. Her face, still human-like, was also covered in the soft fur. Daisy let out a nervous laugh, holding up her arms and wiggling her fingers. "I warned you ahead of time, don''t be mad at me. If it helps, I think you''re adorable." She shivered as the milker kept pulling at the other breast. Elina rose to work the machine, changing what jar it was emptying to, before turning back around. "Oh, don''t worry, I think she''s cute. I''ll just call her my cuddly little sheep-bear." She hugged Saresan from behind. Saresan blinked blearily, looking down at herself. "Sheep-bear..." she murmured. "I..." "It''s okay, hon," Elina said. "It''s not permanent, right?" Daisy inclined her head. "If she sips again and you give me a new thing to turn her into, we could do that? Now, please tell me, can people be hurt if they do too many mutagens in a short time?" She tensed as the milking cup was placed onto her, one to either to drain her. Elina laughed. "Not that I know of. No evidence of it, anyway. The changes are safe, as far as we know, but we don''t have much data on long term use." Daisy crossed her arms under her occupied bosom. "You''re not going to use your girlfriend as a test for that, I hope? As I said, you do look cute. Enjoy the new form." She flicked an ear back at Saresan''s expression of surprise. "Sorry if I offended you." "It''s okay," Saresan murmured, running her hands over herself, feeling the new sensations. "I''m soft." She stood up straight and looked down her front and back, turning as she did so. "All over, and dang you made me fluffy." She ran a hand through her thick locks. "Is it wrong I just want to pet me? All over." Elina laughed. "Oh no! Don''t say things like that! It makes my mind go bad places." Saresan grinned. "That sounds like a good thing to me. But you''re on the clock." She hiked a newly clawed thumb at Daisy. "And we have this guest here." Daisy let out a little sigh, ears twitching to relax as she started to feel less nervous. "I won''t be offended if you kick me out." "That isn''t happening." Elina pressed a button, the machine slowing its rumbles to a stop. "Until at least we get you unplugged. You gave quite a batch today. Two, technically. We have to see if this continues to ramp up." She held up one of the jars. "You''re gonna give milk farmers a run for their coin at this rate." She looked Saresan over once more. "But first, I need to collect some hair and nail samples from Saresan, see how that works." How Long?! Saresan moved towards Daisy with a playful glimmer in her eye as she brushed her fingers through the mouse''s fur, stroking her cheeks and the curve of her muzzle. "You''re really soft, too, you know?" Daisy stood up, warm in her cheeks. "We just met!" She coughed into a hand. "Sorry, I just prefer, if we can, get to know people before we move on towards, you know, more?" Elina chuckled. "She isn''t asking to bed you. Probably. But you are a pretty thing." She hiked her hands onto her hips. "Besides, you''re taken, and so am I. This lab doesn''t need a reputation as an orgy pit." "Right." Saresan smirked at Daisy. "But you are cute, I can say that, right?" She hopped back a step, hands wandering over her new fur idly. "You made me so damn soft. I''m not sure if I love it or hate it." Daisy blushed a bit and looked away. "I don''t know if I want to say why I went for this, it was kinda random." Elina giggled. "You did just give her two random species at once, how do you know it didn''t go into a third." "I didn''t have time to mash in a third one." Daisy frowned at the thought. "Besides, Selana would get pissed if I made another wild chimera like her. That''s her unique thing. I wouldn''t take that from her, even if she never finds out." Elina paused, then blinked and looked over at Saresan. "You know how to cure them?" she asked, as if just realizing something. Daisy patted her breasts before moving to grab her armor and start covering them. "I decide what the mutagen is, remember? How I made you younger. If your sister wanted to be whatever, I could do it, in theory." Her ears twitched back. "Maybe you should pay me more." Elina prodded Daisy''s side with a pen. "You''re already being paid well for your efforts, Miss. Now, I do want to examine that milk, but it isn''t going anywhere. Sit down on the table, lay back, and let me have a look at you while you''re here." "Already?" Daisy squeaked, then took a few moments to calm herself. "Sorry, I don''t know why this makes me nervous." She hopped onto the table, laying back on it, looking up at the ceiling. "This is my job." She sounded as if she was reminding herself as much as anything else. "Of course you can look." Saresan chuckled and stroked her belly with one hand, letting her nails lightly graze over the fur. "I wonder what it would feel like if I were pregnant like you?" She looked towards Elina. "Do you want to?" Elina paused and stared at her girlfriend for several seconds, then shrugged. "That''s a complicated question I''m not drunk enough for." Daisy snorted gently. "None of the creatures in this room are ready to get you pregnant, Miss. A bit forward to ask while Elina is trying to do her job." Saresan smirked. "I know, but I just thought of it." She poked her new muzzle. "I''ve always been curious." Elina shrugged. "I don''t think we''re ready for that kind of commitment yet." She leaned in over Daisy, examining her with a critical eye. "Besides, we wouldn''t want to have to raise a child." She patted Daisy''s belly, then put her stethoscope to it. "Hmm, strong heartbeat." She nodded to herself. "Two. You probably don''t have twins. But I''m still not sure how much time is left." Daisy smiled softly, but didn''t reply to any of that. She turned her gaze to that looming pregnancy bar, promising her when the painful miracle would arrive. "So, question. Mothers don''t normally know when they''ll give birth, I assume, right?" Elina shook her head. "No, they don''t know. Most can tell the season it will be, if even that. A pregnancy in the wild is a difficult and dangerous time for most species." She wagged that pen. "Fortunately for us, civility offers many safeguards during such delicate times. Now, a question. When did you get pregnant, and what by?" Daisy sighed gently. "I ran into another brood mouse. Things got, um, heated, then¡ª" Saresan snickered from where she was leaning against the wall, her new tail curling behind her. Elina put a hand on Daisy''s belly, leaning in over her at the same time. "You ran into another?! And this is the first time I''m hearing of it? Tell me more!"The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation. "Damn." Daisy flicked an ear. "Her name was Daphne. She seemed mostly sane. She was really angry I was there, at first. Figured I was trying to take her dungeon." "Huh." Elina looked thoughtful for a moment. "Interesting. You should have told me sooner, but that''s fine. This is interesting." Saresan raised a brow. "Okay, that was weird to hear. I''ll get used to this new voice of mine." She rubbed her throat, giving a few experimental las just to hear herself. Daisy smiled at the experiments. "We got to talking, then got, um, friendly. And now I have her kid. She was curious what would happen if two brood mice did that." Elina''s eyes went wide as she looked at Saresan. "We could use this!" She grinned with excitement. "If we can find more brood mice, we could make our own supply of mutagens." Daisy''s cheer faded. "I am not giving my children to you as milking factories. That would be super bad mothering on my part." "Maybe." Elina tickled along Daisy''s rounded belly. "Now when was this exactly? How long have you been hiding this from me?" "Just, mmm, half a week ago actually." Daisy let out a soft breath as she was touched, shivering a little bit at the sensation of warm fingertips against her bare fur. Elina leaned back, surprise on her face. "Half a week? You look many months further along than half a week. Brood mice must..." She raised a brow. "You said this other brood mouse was a she. How did she even do this?" Saresan laughed from her spot against the wall. "She can''t have been all female. She must be some kind of hermaphrodite to have done it." She shook her head slowly. "I think you should go back and see if she wants to be part of the project." Daisy coughed gently. "She likes it in her dungeon. That invite would go denied, I feel sure. But, uh, yes. She was just as male as she had to be for just as long to get it done." "And that''s why." Elina tapped that round belly. "Your new friend did this on purpose. People who end up with monsters sometimes end up like this, popping in a week, month, or even hours from the time of the incident. She wanted to know what would happen, and had no patience. And now, here we are." Saresan nodded along. "And how are you?" she asked Daisy, "I''m kind of curious about this." "Curious?!" Daisy squeaked and covered her mouth. "I''m going to be a mother." One ear fell. "This is a new experience for a guy, but I don''t plan to mess it up. Is there someplace I should go when it''s time?" Elina smiled softly. "The church has a clinic that will care for you, and will be able to make any needed arrangements once the baby''s out. I don''t think it will be a problem." She trailed up to the bottom of Daisy''s chestplate and pulled it down to cover her properly. "But, I am your doctor. You could come here, and I would gladly play that role." Saresan nodded. "I''d like to be there, too." She smiled at Daisy. "Just for moral support." Daisy blushed slightly as she adjusted herself so that her breasts were no longer hanging out of her armor. "You just want to see it, I imagine." She slid to her feet, tail whipping. "Did you want to see anything else? If not, I''m gonna go home." Elina looked over at the jars with a grin. "Nope, I think we can let you leave." Saresan smirked. "I want to see a lot more." "You''re not my boss." Daisy stuck out her tongue, then fled as quickly as her paws allowed her, just to get caught up in wooly arms. Saresan drew Daisy back into a hug from behind. "Why are you running away?" "I am just shy." Daisy leaned back against Saresan, letting herself be supported by her. "It''s a big change for me." Saresan smiled. "I think it''s good for you." She kissed one of Daisy''s large, if sagging, ears. "Sister talks about you a lot. Let her keep studying you. You seem to be enjoying it." Daisy let out a breath and nodded slowly. "I can deal with this, yeah." She reached down to run her hand over the curve of her belly. "But I don''t want my child in danger." Elina took a step closer. "And I wouldn''t want that. I want them, and you, to both be healthy and happy." She looked towards Saresan. "Now please let my patient leave. It seems like every time you people are together you end up cuddling." Saresan snickered softly and let go of Daisy, giving her a pat on the back as she did. Daisy slid forward, no longer hindered. "Um." She turned, trying to look at Saresan but not meeting their eyes for very long. "It''s not that I dislike you. You seem nice, and you''re even cuter now. It''s, um..." She squirmed a bit in place. "I don''t know how to describe it. Sorry." Saresan smiled gently at Daisy, then patted her arm. "You''ll figure it out." Daisy flipped her ears back a moment before she forced them up. "I''m adjusting to this world, where touches are expected. I come from a much more repressed one. I was a man." Her tail brushed against Saresan. "It isn''t bad here, I feel like a freak a lot of the time." "You''re not a freak." Saresan reached out and touched Daisy''s cheek, cupping it with her palm. "Yes she is," cut in Elina with a smirk. "That''s why I hired her. But being a ''freak'' isn''t always a bad thing. It''s just different, and difference can be very good." She winked at Saresan. "Take my girlfriend here. She''s a sheep-bear hybrid. I think that''s pretty freaky, but it''s fun too." Daisy took a step back. "You won''t know that until I get out of your way. Thanks, Saresan." She walked away with a little wave. "Have fun, I guess?" "We will!" Saresan called after her as she left the lab. *** The door opened, and Daisy walked out into the hall, her black-furred ears twitching. She looked up and down the hall, considering her next target. "Daisy?" She looked towards the voice as a feline approached her. "Dhiren? It''s been a while." "Too long, clearly." His eyes were on her rounded belly. "I''ve missed a lot, clearly. Monster, or paramour?" Big Reveal This narrative has been purloined without the author''s approval. Report any appearances on Amazon. She held her axe at her front. "You didn''t have to come with me. I know you have schoolwork to do." "And miss the chance to meet this ''cute little mouse''?" Cedric laughed softly. "I''d never hear the end of it. Besides, it''s my daughter too." "Daughter." Daisy smiled at the thought. Michelle giggled as she clung onto Daisy. "Hello, dad." She mused for a moment, finger at her chin. "Having more than one dad and mom is funny, but it''s not bad." Daisy stroked over Michelle''s ears. "You''re getting bigger! I''m gonna have to go shopping soon, to get you a bigger harness. You''re not quite able to walk, though I know you can crawl around nicely." Michelle perked at that. "I want to try that, but when we''re not trying to move so quickly." She looked down as Daisy covered the ground with powerful steps. "You''re fast, Mom." "I''m very fast." She patted Michelle''s back. "We''ll find you something to do to pass the time. Maybe Cedric will help you with that too." Cedric nodded. "I heard you were practicing magic with Theo. Want to do a little magic game with me? It''s easy, and we can do it as we walk." "Okay." Michelle held up a hand, concentrating hard. Cedric put his palm against hers, letting his fingers interlace with hers. "Now focus on your hand. I''m going to send some mana into you, and I want you to push it back at me." That trick Michelle knew, sending a little burst into Cedric, but he backed away. "And again." He sent his magic to bridge the distance in the air towards her. "The same way, but with some oomph to make that jump." Michelle closed her eyes and concentrated, then pushed back against him. He felt her mana strike him, making his fur stand on end slightly. "Wow! That was good for a first try." Daisy chuckled at them both. "I can''t see it, but I can imagine it. That''s cute." She turned an ear back towards them. "Tell us if you get tired, Michelle." "I''m fine, Mom," she assured Daisy before turning her attention back to Cedric. "Alright, do it again!" He did, and she returned the attack easily. The pair continued to practice, Cedric increasing the difficulty of his task while Michelle followed suit. The ball of magic bounced back and forth between them, batting it through the air like they were playing tennis with it. "You''re getting the hang of this!" "It''s fun!" Michelle grinned as she sent another shot at him, which he dodged with ease. Daisy turned her head to watch, seeing them playing with each other. "Nice." Michelle let out a yelp of surprise as she missed her return shot and fell onto her side. Daisy paused in her steps and Cedric hurried in to right Michelle in her harness. "You alright? I didn''t hurt you, did I?" "No." Michelle hugged onto him, rubbing her face against his chest. "It was just a fun exercise." "Good." Cedric smiled as he hugged her tightly. "I''m glad to hear that." He set her securely in her harness and patted her head, their walking resuming. "Let me know if you want to try again." "I think I''ll watch for a while," she said, patting his hand. Daisy walked along, the trees thickening into forest as they left town. "There''s a cave not far from here. Inside, there''s a giant I need to visit. I promised him I would. His name is Olm, and he is nicer than the other cylopses. He let me go, but I promised I''d come back and play with him."If you spot this narrative on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Daisy quirked an ear to the side. "I don''t like breaking promises. I try not to give them if I know I won''t do them." "Ah!" Michelle nodded at this, understanding what she was getting at. "So you''re doing it for a promise then?" "That''s right, dear." She looked at Cedric, who smiled at her. "So, you''ll stay with daddy Cedric a bit while I go visit him. I don''t want to risk him ''breaking'' you, my little treasure. He''s nice, but still a giant. He''s broken his toys before. I think I can handle it, but I''m not risking either of you two." "I''ll be fine," Cedric assured her. Daisy offered Michelle towards Cedric. "Last chance for a snack before I go." Michelle quickly took her up on that, drinking deeply before letting out a content sigh. She curled up against Daisy''s chest. "Thank you, Mom. That was really good." Daisy stroked Michelle''s back gently as she smiled down at her. Gently, she passed the sleepy child to Cedric. "Take good care of her. I know you will." She leaned in to nose Cedric. "I trust you. Be right back." With that, she hurried ahead, taking a turn at a cavern fork. "Hello? Olm?" Her nose wiggled as she sniffed the air, trying to find him. "Hello." The voice was deep and rumbled from the darkness. "You came back." "I said I would." She jogged towards the small house of Olm. "Have you been alright while I was away?" Olm shrugged his massive shoulders. "I''ve been okay." He reached to gently stroke her with a finger. "I missed you." "I''m sorry I made you miss me." She nuzzled against that finger, then climbed onto his palm as it offered. "I''ve been busy. If you can believe it, I had a child." She patted her belly, not showing much hint of that event. "That delayed me coming back a few days." "Oh." Olm blinked at this news, seeming surprised. "I''m not sure how to feel about that." "Happy for me, if you can?" Daisy smiled up at him. "I''m happy for me." She grabbed his thumb and hugged it. "I don''t know how cyclopses do it, but do you have another big lady you''re eyeing?" "No." Olm sighed softly. "I don''t know where to meet another cyclops." He looked away, ashamed. "Okay, you''re my friend." She hugged his finger. "But there''s only so much I can do about that other part. My card is pretty full, and you''re a bit large for me. Hm, well, you have those friends, the other two that came over last time. They do seem to tease, but they are friends, right?" Olm shook his head slowly. "We''re friends, yes." "I''d say to call them, maybe set up a game night, something. Do you ever leave this cave?" She waved her hand around them. "Get out there, so other giants can see you, and that lady will show up eventually." "I like it here." Olm hugged Daisy gently to him. "I feel safe here." "It is comfy. You''ve done a lot to make it homey. I love your place, it''s nice." She was overblowing it a little, but attacking the giant while he was feeling down felt wrong. "But so are you, and people deserve to meet you. They can''t if you''re hiding in here." "Okay." Olm let out a sigh. "I guess I should get out more." "All I''m suggesting." She hopped down to his table, tail swaying easily as she turned to face him. "Now, what game did you want to play while I''m here?" Olm smiled at this. "I made something fun! Let me go get it." He moved quickly to the side, digging around in a box before coming out with a small board, some figures, and some dice. Daisy peered at it all curiously. "Some kind of tabletop game then?" She moved up to one of the figures, each about as large as she was. "Did you carve these? They look nice." "I did." Olm blushed lightly as he looked away. "I''ve got nothing better to do." "These are amazing." Daisy stroked the face of a carved mouse figure. "You should play with these where more people can see. Bet the other cyclopses would be impressed too." She hopped back. "Now, show me how to play this game." "Okay!" Olm grinned widely as he set up the board and the pieces. He explained the rules, and soon they were playing, moving their pieces along the board and rolling their dice with abandon. Sure, Daisy had to work a bit harder to slide her pieces around, but they were both playing and chatting as they did it. The game seemed to involve fighting some great monster, which the characters would have to defeat in order to win. They moved together, sometimes splitting up to take down smaller monsters on the way, or picking up various items that could help them. By the end, Daisy was applauding. "You invented this game? You have a sharp brain hidden in there! I love the design work. It''s really solid, and flows well." Olm smiled at her praise. "Thank you." He looked away bashfully. "It''s nice to have someone else play it." "Now get out and show people." She poked a finger at him. "They''ll like this game too. Such good pieces, and solid rules that are easy to pick up." "If you say so." Olm sighed softly as he leaned back. "I just want to have friends." "You can find them." Daisy put a hand on the giant''s wrist. "It''s scary, but it can be done. You have to trust that you''re a person worth knowing, and you are." New World, New Rules The author''s narrative has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon. What is that? "You look upset." Michelle tapped Daisy''s nose. "What''s wrong? I thought you said he could do what he wanted." "I said that," Daisy said slowly. "But I feel, I don''t know." She pulled Michelle to her and hugged the girl tightly. "I''m not from here, and you aren''t either. How would you feel, having someone really close go and do that?" "Huh." Michelle looked down at herself. "Well, back home, I was a married guy. He cheated on me for years, so we split up and got a divorce." She smiled up at Daisy. Daisy blinked and inclined her head at her daughter. "You were a gay man then? No shade or nothing, but I didn''t expect that." "Well, I was married to my wife, but she''s not relevant to this conversation." Michelle pouted as she put her hands on her hips. "My point is that cheating is a big deal back home." Daisy was quiet a moment, imagining the complex life Michelle once lived. "I get that. Um, but it sounds like you were cheating too." She tapped Michelle gently on the nose. "Bad girl. Lucky you, seems this world doesn''t mind that. In this world, you are a cute little daughter who has some fun with her many parents." "Sounds great to me!" Michelle smiled as she leaned against Daisy. Daisy snorted at Michelle, patting her gently on the head. "Are you alright, speeding through growing up? I figure you might even be happy about that." Michelle nodded. "I am! It''s really exciting. I want to see where it takes me." She giggled as she rubbed her hands together. Daisy set a hand on one of her mutagenic breasts. "You were a bisexual male, sounds like. Now, all girl, but what gender remains to be seen. If we go by your old mind, bi is likely, but I guess you''re getting the chance to find that out." "Wow." Michelle blinked as she thought about this. "Yeah, that''s true. I guess I''ll just have to wait and see if I fall for a woman here." Daisy raised her brows as one. "I wouldn''t ask a normal baby, but I could start, with you, asking what you think of your mom." Michelle blushed and giggled nervously. "Oh! Well, that''s easy. You''re my mother now, but you''re also very hot. I could totally go for you." Daisy hugged Michelle, the baby girl pressed against her breasts. "I think that''s a yes, then? A point in favor of bi." She gave her daughter a gentle kiss. "It''s interesting that your old world mind is being changed too." She paused. "Can''t say mine hasn''t been, but there''s for sure parts of the old me still rattling around, like being annoyed that Cedric is in there, playing around with another mouse." Michelle giggled as she nuzzled up against Daisy. "He''ll be back." She placed her hands on her belly. "I can wait. I don''t want him to leave us." "That would be awful." She nuzzled in and curled about Michelle. "I''m glad you''re here. If I had to wait alone, momma might have gotten so much angrier." She sighed, leaning back. "Hoping he''s okay." The two rested quietly against one another for some time, waiting patiently for Cedric to return. After a while, the wall blocking their exit vanished and Cedric came walking towards them. He was limping, his body covered in bite marks and scratches. Daisy was quickly to her feet, holding Michelle carefully. "Ced! Was, um, she that rough?" Michelle gasped as she peered over at Cedric. "Oh my! Are you okay? You look a little roughed up." "I''m fine!" He smiled at them as he walked up to them. He looked ready to say something else when Daisy grabbed him close in a fierce one-armed hug, her healing magic brightening as a window popped open in her eyes, showing his hit points returning. The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident. "Daddy!" Michelle threw her arms around his neck and hugged him close. "Hey, you''re alright," Cedric said as he hugged her back. He looked at her and smiled warmly. "I''m okay." Daisy smooched his cheek. "You were clearly not, but I''m glad to have you back. She got what she wanted then?" "Yeah." Cedric laughed nervously. "That''s for sure." He straightened himself out as he walked with them out of the dungeon and into the cave. "I think that was enough excitement for today." Daisy trailed along with him, then pointed. "That way''s out. Thanks for coming with us, but I say we hustle on home." "Right, let''s go." Cedric took a step in the direction Daisy had pointed. Moving swiftly, they skirted around the giants and made their way home without much else standing in their way. In the distance ahead, they could see their home city of Raela. The guards looked a little stiffer than usual, so Daisy gave them a wave. "Hi there! Is something up?" "Who is asking?" "Daisy. I live here, I adventure here." She thumbed back at Michelle and Cedric. "Partner, child." She folded her arms under her chest. "Something going on?" "I am not sure if you''ve heard." He gestured back at the city. "But a war is starting, with a nearby kingdom, the Kingdom of Lioral." Daisy sucked in a breath. "Dang it. Is that a war with Raela, or a nation Raela''s part of?" He shook his head. "No, we are the city-state of Raela. We''re sovereign from other kingdoms and answer only to ourselves and our neighbors. That being said, we do have some sort of alliance with the Kingdom of Lioral." "Had, I presume." Daisy sank miserably. "Crap. That sounds like war''s coming to us directly." The guard nodded at that. "Quite likely. The king here seems to think we''ll be attacked before long, though it''s hard to say. But everyone is preparing for a fight." Cedric blinked. "Well, that''s concerning." He looked at the guard. "Do you know how long until it starts? Are they already on their way here?" The guard held up a hand. "I can''t say more than I have, ma''am. You''re not in the army, you see." Michelle pouted at this. "But we want to help!" Daisy rubbed Michelle''s head, then looked back towards the guard. "Let me guess. We sign up and tell the recruiter we''re adventurers and he''ll tell us we can do some things?" "Good odds, but I couldn''t say more than that." He waved Daisy forward. "You''re backing up the line, well-intentioned or not." Daisy bowed to the guard as she walked past him, then turned back towards Cedric and Michelle. "Seems we''re headed into danger again." Cedric sighed softly. "Yeah." He pointed to little Michelle. "We''re not taking her on this, right?" "Nope." She looked down to the little mouse girl. "It''s up to you, but if you want to grow up faster, you can drink my milk." Michelle beamed. "I''d like that." Since she had permission, she attached and nursed eagerly. Unfortunately, even with both mother and child in agreement about growing being a fine thing to do, Michelle''s little body only grew so fast. Daisy drew up Michelle''s statistics, looking for an age. ©¤Age: 1 Daisy held Michelle gently, walking towards the campus even as the little one nursed. "You won''t be big enough to take part, maybe for the best." She smiled down at Michelle. "But, I know someone who might like to look after you." Daisy peeked over at Cedric. "I''m not sure you''ll have a choice about fighting, though." Cedric shook his head quickly. "Not if you plan to hop in. You go, so do I!" With that in mind, they waited for the others. Theo looked at them quite oddly. "Why would you get involved in that?" Selena showed more enthusiasm. "I''d love to show those Lioral''s what''s coming to them." She clapped her hands at the thought. "They''ll write stories about us." Daisy shrugged a bit as she waved towards the other three. "I don''t know if we can make the difference. But, we''re in danger either way and I feel we stand better on the battlefield than crouched in a basement." Theo tapped Daisy on the back. "The university has guards and wizards way better than any of us. One of the safer places to be." "Maybe, but that doesn''t sit right." She tapped Theo gently on the nose. "And if you want to spend the battle hiding, I won''t shame you for that, but I''m going to go out and try to do something." "And I''m coming." Selena moved to Daisy''s side. "I feel invincible next to you anyway." Daisy considered her buffs. "Tougher, at least. Oh! Theo, you can help actually." She pointed to Michelle. "You''re on Michelle duty." Theo looked down at the baby mouse and sighed softly. "Alright, fine." Cedric laughed at him. "Hey, it''s not that bad! You''ll get to watch the fight and see what happens without being in any danger." "Now we go sign up." Daisy took her two family members towards the barracks to find someone that could help with that. On the March Did you know this story is from Royal Road?
