Chapter 2: Chapter 2 What are youughing at?
Once bound to the YS system, one could freely summon medications and medical equipment as desired.
Without time to think further, she rapidly applied the hemostatic treatment to the severely injured body using the knowledge she had learned in her everyday life.
Pain emanated from below, and she could hardly bear it, only able to fiercely bite into the unknown material of her clothing.
But the agonizing moans still echoed in the darkness.
Approximately a quarter of an hourter, the pain finally subsided slightly.
Shao He licked her somewhat cracked lips, her eyes expressing an unprecedented coldness.
"Whimper¡ª"
A baby''s cry suddenly sounded in the night.
Shao He''s heart stopped for a second, and she quickly turned her head, the image of the infant who had drowned in sewage now gazing at her with its mouth open.
From its mouth, cries still emerged.
A surge of ecstasy suddenly welled up within her, and Shao He could hardly believe it¡ªthe child was still alive!
She hurriedly scooped the child up from the ground; its face was blue, initially appearing like a fleeting return to life.
@@novelbin@@
Having no time to think further, Shao He wished she had adrenaline.
A vial of adrenaline with a syringe immediately fell onto the baby.
Shao He''s face lit up as she injected only a small dose.
The baby''s appearance quickly changed.
Its face was no longer deathly pale, nor were there any painful moans.
Shao He could not help but exim in amazement¡ªthe original host had not survived, but it was thanks to her body that she survived and was given such a vigorously alive child!
Before she could catch her breath and rx, she looked around; the ce appeared utterly dpidated, with even the surrounding walls being low and stumpy. At that moment, the moonlight broke through the clouds, casting a gloomy light on the even more deste courtyard.
Shao He was trying to get up when she suddenly heard footsteps.
"Ghost¡ªghost! Madam... madam hase back from the dead!"
It was the servant who hade to collect the bodies of the original Shao He and the child. Seeing Shao He sitting there with a pallid face under the moonlight, he thought she looked like a vengeful ghoste to im lives!
Watching him scramble and roll out of the courtyard, Shao He''s heart tightened again.
Soon, a series of rapid footsteps reached Shao He''s ears.
Her blood-soaked eyelids lifted slightly.
"You are still not dead?"
Chu Yu, d in a dark robe with his long hair hanging loose down to his waist, and even not tied back, approached her. His handsome face bore traces of disgust, and even his voicecked any affection that might be expected between a couple.
Instead of anger, Shao He smiled, but a teardrop fell from her blood-soaked eyes.
It was the emotions of the original host acting up.
Her eyes, bloodied, resembled a poisoned snake, "Heh, are you disappointed that I''m not dead?"
"Marquis...madam, how could you transform into this state?"
Luo Jiner hid behind Chu Yu''s shoulder, frightened, her frail body trembling beneath a white cloak.
Chu Yu was startled.
But he had no time to think further, only feeling his disgust rapidly increasing to the point of enveloping his heart.
"Indeed a disaster that leaves asting bane. Such a sinister and venomous woman like her should have just been feigning unconsciousness from the start!"
"A disaster that leaves asting bane?"
Shao He pointed at herself andughed scornfully, "Chu Yu, how can you have the face to say such words to me? The least qualified to curse me is someone like you, a beast who could mercilessly harm his own flesh and blood...uh!"
Before she finished speaking, Chu Yu''s eyes darkened dramatically as he suddenly lunged forward, stretching out his arm and fiercely gripping her delicate neck!
"Do not think that your feigned death or fainting, or even your pretense at resistance, would soften my heart. A vicious woman like you deserves to die a hundred, a thousand times over!"
"Cough¡ª"
A strong sensation of asphyxiation overcame her, turning Shao He''s face gradually purplish-blue.
"Ha...haha..." She did not plead for mercy. Instead, she suppressed the suffocating sensation andughed lowly.
"What are youughing at?"
Chapter 4 - 4 We Will Meet Again
Chapter 4: Chapter 4 We Will Meet Again
"Hiss."
The excruciating pain made Shao He involuntarily cry out.
But she dared not waste a drop of blood and hurriedly shoved her middle finger into the child''s mouth.
Momentster, the child finally stopped crying. Half-fed, he fell into a deep sleep, and Shao He sucked on her middle finger briefly until her parched throat moistened a little. Then, cradling the child, she leaned on arge tree to stand up.
There were many vultures around, and bones were strewn everywhere, the intense stench of decay causing her head to spin.
"We need to leave this ce quickly... Ah!"
As she muttered and stepped forward, she hadn''t taken two steps before suddenly losing her footing as if she had stepped on something and fell hard to the ground!
It was a ''corpse'' that had been moved to the ground.
"Bad luck."
Cushioning the child with one hand, she cursed softly, then got up, ready to keep moving forward.
Unexpectedly, the "corpse" she had stepped on suddenly moved.
"?!"
Even Shao He was so frightened her pupils trembled!
Under the mottled tree shadows, the "corpse''s" tightly closed eyes suddenly opened!
Like a wolf hidden in the night, dangerously chilling to the bone.
Shao He snapped back to her senses, scoffed softly, "Not dead, huh?"
The man looked up.
The moment he saw Shao He, the chill in his eyes momentarily paused, then countless ripples stirred in his otherwise cid gaze.
His lips slightly parted, his voice in the night air carrying a bone-chilling tenor, "Is it you?"
At these words, Shao He''s body suddenly tensed.
Her eyebrows slightly furrowed, her voice testing and light in the dim night air, "You recognize me?"
The man did not speak, only his cold gaze slightly lowered.
The atmosphere suddenly fell into dead silence.
@@novelbin@@
If this man truly knew her, why was there no memory of this man in the original host''s memories?
"Wah¡ª"
A cry broke the icy stillness of the air.
Seeing the man not responding, Shao He, holding her child, got up intending to leave. If they stayed any longer, the risk for her and her child would increase immensely.
"Wait a moment."
The man suddenly spoke.
His eyes, blending into the night, looked up again, his voice rugged, "This child...how old is he?"
Despite the man being too injured to sit up, Shao He did not guard against him, but while soothing the child, she quietly answered, "Born today."
Born today?
Pei Huaian''s heart skipped a beat, even his dark pupils involuntarily tightened.
With his body aching severely, he said in a hoarse voice tinged with coldness, "Miss, you are frail, how about resting here with me? Someone wille to get me soon, and you can leave with me."
Shao He''s eyes suddenly wore ayer of wariness.
She curled her fingers around the child''s swaddle, stepped back two steps and turned to leave, leaving behind only one final phrase.
"No need."
There''s no such thing as a free lunch in this world.
She never believed in the spontaneous generosity of strangers.
Especially when she could barely look after herself, she was not foolish enough to rescue another burden.
Pei Huaian said nothing and did not try to retain her.
His eyes under the night, like amber, stared straight at the receding back of Shao He, until the cawing of crows rose again and his hoarse voice followed.
"Survive well...we will meet again."
The baby''s crying echoed through the sinister Mass Burial Mound, rippling until it faded away into the distance.
Chapter 6 - 6 The Child Actually Survived?
Chapter 6: Chapter 6 The Child Actually Survived?
"Hmm." Shao He cast a detached nce at him and then his gaze fell on the child, who was cradled by a woman and had a deep gash across his abdomen, his intestines already exposed.
"I can save this child," she dered.
"You can save him?"
Upon hearing this, disbelief washed over the man''s face. Then he cautioned, "Miss, the child has fallen on a de, the wound in his belly is so deep that his intestines are spilling out. You..."
"If I say I can save him, I can save him."
Shao He stepped forward and looked down at the infant in the swaddling clothes, carefully parting the clothing around him to examine the wound closely.
"I will need a clean room and some candles, and prepare some bandages as well."
The rest, I will have in the system.
"Miss, this child is beyond saving, you..."
Shao He''s eyes shed with sternness, "Keep dithering and this child truly will be beyond saving!"
On hearing this, the woman''s pale face suddenly flushed with excitement.
She moved forward, ignoring her bloodstained knees, and began to kowtow vigorously on the ground with the child in her arms!
"Doctor! I beg you! Please let thisdy try!"
The man''s fists, resting on the table, clenched and unclenched.
After a long moment, he finally stood up, and as he passed Shao He, he sighed softly, "Very well,e with me."
Seeing this, Shao He followed the man into a small room.
@@novelbin@@
Once everything was prepared, the man''s gentle eyes grew serious.
"Miss, may I stay and observe?" he asked.
No sooner had the words left his mouth than he felt it amiss and hastily added, "Or I could assist you if need be."
Assist her?
Shao He nced sideways at him.
No doubt he feared her medical skills weren''t refined and that she might dissipate the child''s remaining breath.
"Alright."
Shao He chuckled lightly, not calling out his concern, simply handing the child she carried over to him, "Since you wish to stay, then help me by holding the child."
No sooner had she spoken, a thought flickered through her mind.
A sharp surgical knife suddenly appeared in her palm, and then she deepened the wound on the child''s abdomen even more!
"Miss, you!"
The man''s eyes widened in shock, toote to ponder when exactly the dagger in Shao He''s hand had appeared!
But Shao He didn''t turn to look at him.
The child''s intestines were already exposed, and a part of them had even ruptured!
Shao He''s eyes narrowed with resolve, the dagger in her palm vanishing instantaneously to be reced by an anesthetic, a silver needle, and the thread that appeared in her hand!
After administering the anesthetic to the child, she threaded the needle with fine string, speeding through the task of stitching the flesh of his abdomen!
The man by her side''s eyes bulged, and even his other hand clutched suddenly tight by his side.
This woman was intent on suturing the child''s belly closed!
It was preposterous!
"No!"
He quickly stepped forward, grabbing Shao He''s wrist, "Miss, please, stop tormenting..."
"Wipe the blood."
Shao He''s voice came curtly, cutting off his words. She nced at him, saying, "Wipe while holding my child steady. No more talking."
The words the man wanted to say stuck in his throat.
After a moment of inner conflict, he finally followed Shao He''s instructions, meticulously wiping away the spreading blood from the child''s open belly.
When the surgery waspleted, Shao He drew out a gauze from the system to wrap the child''s wound. Then she wiped the sweat from her forehead and breathed a sigh of relief.
"Hand the child to me," she said, turning to extend her hand to the man.
"You..."
His voice quavering, the man was at a loss for words.
"My child! How is my child?!"
Just then, the woman''s anxious voice arose from outside the screen.
The man was startled, hastily moving his fingers to feel the pulse on the child''s wrist.
Yet the moment he detected a faint beating between his fingers, his pupils dted with shock!
"The child?!" his heart pounded fiercely.
The child was actually alive?!
Chapter 8: No Need for Many Words
Chapter 8: Chapter 8: No Need for Many Words
Shao He was quite open-hearted, and his face showed no strangeness whatsoever.
Yun Qian finally let out a sigh of relief.
If it had been anyone else, by now they probably would have cursed him as a heartbreaker.
An hourter.
Yun Qian ced the medicine he had prepared on the table.
Only when Shao He picked up the bowl and drank down the bitter medicine that was almost enough to make one vomit bile, did Yun Qian carefully observe her and asked in a low voice,
"Miss, your medical skills are so exquisite, you should have a good way out wherever you go. Why have you fallen to such straits? What are your ns for the future?"
Shao He cast a shallow nce at him.
Although her dress was somewhat tattered, it was faintly visible that the material was extremely expensive.
@@novelbin@@
Being a doctor, this man''s horizon should be higher than that of the othermoners.
Therefore, Shao He was not surprised that he would ask such a question.
What are her ns for the future?
Shao He''s phoenix eyes narrowed slightly.
As far as she could remember, the original owner''s parents, though not too kind to her, had not been too harsh.
Perhaps this was a path worth taking.
"Please prepare some paper and ink for me."
"Alright." Yun Qian brought the paper and ink to Shao He, his gaze subtly moving.
After thinking for a while, Shao He wrote down a few lines on the paper and then took off the hairpin from her head, "Please have someone deliver this letter and this hairpin to the Imperial Censorate."
Yun Qian was startled.
Seeing the hairpin that Shao He handed over, he had an idea in his mind, but he did not say much. He just took the letter as Shao He had requested and left.
...
The sky gradually darkened.
In Prince Chu''s Mansion, candlelight flickered to life.
"Whoosh¡ª"
A sound of something cutting through the air abruptly rose in the back yard, and soon it reached a side room.
"My lord."
Several men dressed in ck, the Hidden Guard, knelt on the ground, illuminated by the dim candlelight.
"Have you found out?" Pei Huaian''s voice was low as he sat on his wheelchair, his eyes betraying no hint of emotion.
"Yes."
One of the Hidden Guard bowed his head respectfully and said, "We have ascertained the identity of the woman at Mass Burial Mound. Thisdy is the daughter of the Imperial Censor, and she is also the Lady of the Marquis of Pingnan."
"The Marquis of Pingnan?" Pei Huaian''s sharp brows raised ever so slightly, his thin lips revealing a trace of coldness, "The Marquis''s Mansion released news yesterday that the Madam Marquis of Pingnan died in childbirth along with the child... Investigate, find out the whereabouts of that woman."
"Yes!"
The Hidden Guard vanished from the spot in a sh.
"Bang¡ª"
Pei Huaian''s fingertip tightened, and he shattered the cup in his palm, his raised eyebrows and eyes as chilling as the winter cold, making one''s heart tremble.
She, how could she be the Madam Marquis?
The night grew thicker, and fog gradually enveloped the streets and alleys.
Finding the ce uninteresting, Shao He went straight to the stage to assume the role of consulting doctor.
She withdrew her fingertip, "You have merely caught a bit of cold, it''s not serious. Go home and rest for a couple of days, and drink some warm, nourishing medicines."
"Thank you, miss!" In front of her sat a man with a frail body who, upon hearing her words, quickly stood up and bowed repeatedly to her.
"Miss."
Yun Qian entered the room, removing his cloak chilled with cold, and ced the letter on the table.
He lowered his head, feeling somewhat guilty, "I''ve sent someone to deliver the letter to the Imperial Censorate, but after seeing the letter, they called the person I sent a swindler, saying that the Madam Marquis had already died in childbirth..."
These words caused Shao He''s brows to furrow, "Did you also bring the hairpin?"
That hairpin was personally given to the original owner by her mother when she married; how could they not recognize it?
"I did." However, when Yun Qian produced the hairpin, Shao He''s heart sank as though plummeting into an ice cer.
"Miss..." Yun Qian''s thin lips moved slightly, seemingly wanting to say some words offort.
But Shao He picked up the hairpin and shook her head indifferently.
"No need for more words."
Constion was of no use at this moment.
The people in the Imperial Censorate would definitely recognize this hairpin.
It could only mean... the people of the Imperial Censorate were unwilling to offend the Marquis''s Mansion for her sake, so they pretended not to know.
"Wow¡ª"
Chapter 10 - 10 I Trust You
Chapter 10: Chapter 10 I Trust You
Shao He withdrew her hand from Pei Huaian''s wrist, her eyes fixed on his knee as she furrowed her brows and said, "Young Master, this leg of yours has been affected by a cold poison for probably a year now. My medical skills are not refined, I''m afraid I will not be able to cure your leg affliction."
If it were not for the fact that this man''s martial arts were exceedingly high, allowing him to block his meridians in time, the leg would likely have deteriorated long ago. How could it remain intact until now? The person who used the poison was extremely sinister.
Looking at this man again, despite his robes being made of coarse fabric, the noble aura he exuded was difficult to conceal, clearly indicating he was no ordinary person.
His identity was probably not that simple either. If it were only herself, she might have still been willing to try and help, but now she was not alone. If something were to happen to her, what would be of the baby who was not even a month old.
Having heard Shao He''s words, Pei Huaian showed no displeasure. He was well aware of the poison in his body and he also understood that the only reason his legs had remained functional was due to his suppression of it with his Inner Strength.
He remained silent, a dark gleam swirling in the depths of his eyes as if he were contemting something.
The attendant by his side noticed the hesitation in Shao He''s eyes and immediately became anxious.
"The locals all say you can bring the dead back to life and mend bones with flesh. Since you''ve diagnosed what afflicts my master, why won''t you treat him? That... that makes you a rather heartless doctor! Shouldn''t all doctors have thepassion of a parent?"
"What brings the dead back to life and mends bones with flesh are just exaggerations by the people. Besides, it''s true that a doctor should have a parental heart but not a saintly one. I will save those I can, but I absolutely will not save those I can''t," Shao He said, unable to suppress a chuckle. Though she possessed some skills, there were many in this world far superior to her.
"How can you not save my master?" the attendant asked again unwillingly.
They had finally found someone who could diagnose their master''s symptoms, and they had heard beforeing that this woman possessed exceptional medical skills, capable of curing any disease.
Now, just as they had glimpsed a sliver of hope, it was shattered!
Shao He continued indifferently, "I indeed possess medical skills, but that doesn''t mean I can cure every ailment. I am just an ordinary doctor, not a deity from the heavens."
"You... "
"Enough," Pei Huaian suddenly interrupted the attendant, his voice carrying a hint of displeasure and coldness.
Before he could speak further, the cries of a baby echoed through the area.
Yun Qian walked out holding a baby, saying in a panic, "I don''t know what''s the matter, but he suddenly began crying nonstop, and no matter how we try, we can''t calm him down."
Pei Huaian frowned slightly, his gaze deep andplex as he looked at the child in Yun Qian''s arms.
"Hand the child to me," Shao He said as she stood up and took the baby from Yun Qian''s arms, gently patting the infant swaddled in nkets, her actions tender and enviable.
Pei Huaian stood by, watching her quietly, his eyes deep with thoughts.
"Wah¡ª"
"There, baby, don''t cry, mommy is here," Shao He cooed.
Normally, Shao He could soothe the child immediately, but today was out of the ordinary; despite her efforts, the baby in her arms wouldn''t stop crying.
Yun Qian also said anxiously, "Could it be that the baby is feeling unwell somewhere?"
Pei Huaian took out a red string from his bosom, to which a silver bell was attached. He rolled his wheelchair over and ced the bell inside the baby''s small nket, and the child stopped crying instantly.
Shao He looked at him with shock, her eyes shing with many emotions as she gazed at his legs, her heart tangled.

Pei Huaian raised his head to look at the baby in the swaddlings, his eyes tender, and a gentle smile lifted the corners of his mouth, as if all the frost from before had melted away, leaving only warmth on his face.
"I have a connection with this child; consider this object a gift for our first meeting," Pei Huaian said, then started to turn his wheelchair to leave, not insisting on being treated.
Watching the baby in her arms, Shao He hesitated for a long time, but still called out to him, "Wait!"
Holding the child, she ran over to him, her expressionplex as she said, "Your leg condition cannot be healed overnight. If you trust me, then I am willing to try."
Upon hearing this, Pei Huaian did not hesitate and immediately nodded, "I trust you."

The guards hurried back again, pushing Pei Huaian away.
Leaning against the door, Shao He tossed and caught the silver in her hand, uncertain whether saving this man was right or wrong.
Forget it, nobody would quarrel with silver, besides, what she and her childcked now was silver.

"He''s awake, he''s awake."
A voice pulled Shao He out of her reverie and she looked up to see one of the doorways being opened.
A woman ran over, pointing excitedly into the room, "Doctor, my son, my son is awake."
Shao He collected her thoughts, nodded at the woman, and followed her into the house.
Behind the screen, the little boy on the bed weakly opened his eyes and looked around the unfamiliar surroundings, blinking in confusion.
"My child, my child!" cried the woman, copsing to her knees and sobbing as she held her son.
The little boy froze, distressed to see his mother so upset, he tried to raise his arms to hug her but couldn''t lift them.
"Mom, it hurts."
The woman dried her tears and looked up into her son''s worried eyes, nodding with a smile, "Oh my child, you''ve finally woken up, you scared me to death."
Shao He pulled her back, admonishing, "Be careful, don''t touch his wound."
"Right, got so excited I forgot about that," the woman quickly stood up and stepped aside so Shao He could examine her son''s wounds.
Seeing this, the little boyy obediently, letting Shao He tend to his wounds, not crying out in pain from start to finish.
Shao He closed her eyes, and when she opened them, she held a bottle of disinfectant and cotton swabs, applying them gently to the wound on his abdomen.
The little boy looked up at the beautiful sister before him, enduring the pain, he asked, "Pretty sister, am I going to die?"
"No."
The little boy suddenly looked up at her, unsure whether he had heard her correctly.
"Really?"
"Yeah."
Shao He put away the items in her hand and turned to face the mother, filled with worry, "He''s out of danger, but he needs to stay for two more days so I can handle any unexpected issues promptly."
Relieved, the woman said with immense gratitude, "Okay, thank you, thank you for saving my son."
"You''re an angel!" At the end, the woman knelt down, not knowing how else to express her gratitude.
Shao He reached out to help her up, "No need to thank me, it wasn''t his time to go. In the next few days, make sure he doesn''t stretch the wound or get it wet."
After giving instructions, she turned and walked out of the room.
Two dayster, the little boy''s wounds had healed nicely, and the woman prepared to take him home.
Before leaving, the woman had the little boy kneel down and kowtow to Shao He, promising to find a way to repay her someday.
Shao He smiled and escorted the little boy to the door, waving goodbye as they left.
The little boy''s mother was a simple and unadorned peasant woman with an ordinary figure and in looks.
Sitting the little boy on a donkey cart, the boy leaned on her shoulder and stealthily looked back at Shao He until the carriage vanished from sight.
Just as Shao He was about to return to the shop, a carriage stopped in front of her.
The curtain was lifted, and a maid helped a cloaked woman down from the carriage. Seeing Shao He standing there, she paused in surprise.
"Are you the Female Doctor?"
"Yes." Shao He nodded.
The two followed Shao He into the clinic, and upon seeing others waiting, the maid whispered, "Could you give our young mistress a private consultation?"
"Sure, go wait in the rear hall for a moment," Shao He said before turning to leave.
After dealing with thest patient, Shao He stood up and walked to the rear courtyard''s examining room.
The woman sat poised in a chair, Shao He took a pulse pillow from the cab, ced it on the table, and extended her right hand, gesturing for the woman to extend hers.
Laying her hands on the pulse pillow, the woman quietly watched Shao He through her cloak.
Shao He remained impassive, focusing intently on taking the pulse.
Chapter 13 - 13 Can You Really Cure My Illness?
Chapter 13: Chapter 13 Can You Really Cure My Illness?
Shortly, Shao He withdrew her wrist and looked up at the woman.
The woman simrly sized up Shao He, a face unremarkable, but her eyes were very clear and bright, like the pure, flowing spring waters in the mountains.
The woman slightly parted her lips, "I heard that you are skilled in treatingplex and varied diseases?"
"I know a bit, have your periods evere?" Shao He had noticed that her body was rather weak during the pulse diagnosis, likely due to taking arge amount of medication to replenish her qi and blood.
The woman pursed her lips and remained silent, seemingly contemting. This matter was somewhat difficult for her to speak about.
Shao He looked up, unable to see the woman''s face under the cloak, and spoke to counsel her, "You should understand the principle of not concealing an illness from the doctor. If you don''t even wish to speak about your symptoms, how can I treat you?"
"Miss, I think this Female Doctor is very skilled. Just speak up," urged the young maid behind her.
Seeing the person who remained silent, just as the young maid was about to continue persuading, she heard her mistress say, "I...I have never had a period, never had one."
"So, you must have taken a lot of medicine?" Shao He asked with a frown.
"Yes." The woman nodded.
"Then, do you know why your body is bing weaker and weaker?"
"Taking too many medications..." The woman recalled those several doses of bitter herbal medicine and slightly curled her lips with a bitter expression.
Shao He pondered momentarily before speaking again, "Observing your pulse, I discovered that your liver and spleen are severely damaged. You need gradual recuperation and must avoid taking an excessive amount of tonic medications."
Upon hearing this, the woman showed a surprised expression, "Then, this illness of mine..."
"The reason for your missed periods could be congenital amenorrhea, severe closure of the hymen, uterine malformation, congenital absence of a uterus, among others. The specific cause can only be determined through further examination."
"Further examination?"
The woman felt both surprised and apprehensive, unsure how to proceed with further examinations, especially since she didn''t understand any of the terms the Female Doctor mentioned.
Shao He nodded with a smile, "It requires you to take off your trousers for the examination. If you trust me, I will do my best to diagnose and treat you."
"What!" The woman stood up abruptly, looking shockingly at the calm person opposite her.
"If you don''t take off your trousers for the examination, I cannot determine what exactly is causing your missed periods, and I won''t know how to treat you."
Although the young maid also found it somewhat inappropriate, thinking of the long-standing grievances her mistress had suffered, she tugged at her sleeve and whispered, "Miss, this is our only hope. Perhaps she can truly cure your condition."
After hesitating for a moment, the woman lightly bit her lip and finally nodded, taking a deep breath as if gathering courage, "Doctor, please treat me!"
"Rest assured, Miss, I will do my utmost!"
After Shao He finished speaking, she stood up and had the woman lie on the bed. She sent the maid to wait outside, not wanting her ability to seemingly conjure items out of thin air to be known yet.
Shao He reached out her hand again, and the item she was thinking about instantly appeared in her palm, swiftlypleting the examination for the woman, ultimately confirming the closure of the hymen.
She took off her gloves, and the item in her hand instantly disappeared.
"You have a hymenal closure. Surgery is required, which might be somewhat painful. I need to ask for your opinion."

The woman seemed to scarcely believe what she was hearing, not expecting that her chronic illness of many years might still have a chance to be cured.
"I need to cut your hymen, drain the umted blood, trim the edges of the hymen, and suture the incision. Can you ept this treatment process?" Shao He felt it was best to rify these matters before the surgery to avoid unnecessary trouble.
The woman was astonished that she could truly be cured of her terminal illness, but she found the described treatment process somewhat hard to ept.
Understanding her dilemma, Shao He stood up and said, "Take your time to think about it, I''ll go out and see other patients."
Once Shao He left and began her consultations, the crowd surged forward, keeping her so busy that she barely had time for herself.

It wasn''t until thest patient came over that she asked without looking up, "What''s wrong with you?"
"My leg."
At the sound of the familiar voice, she looked up and saw a man wearing a mask, her eyes revealing a surprised expression.
"Why have youe? Didn''t I tell you toe back after seven days? It hasn''t been seven days yet, is your leg ufortable?" Shao He stood up and walked towards him, asking as she moved.
"Hmm."
Shao He stopped in her tracks, her brows slightly furrowed.
That shouldn''t be right?
She had already drained the blood stasis from the masked man''s body, his leg shouldn''t be causing him issues these days.
Shao He knelt down to examine his robe and found no apparent issues.
"There''s nothing wrong. What''s making your leg ufortable?"
"It feels better now," Pei Huaian said, his expression unchanged.
Shao He was baffled by his act but didn''t dwell on it, returning to her chair to start writing prescriptions.
Pei Huaian showed no intention of leaving. Observing the elegant handwriting on the paper, he asked, "Seeing that you are young yet so skilled in medicine, did you start learning from a young age?"
"Mm," Shao He responded indifferently without raising her head.
Upon hearing this, Pei Huaian''s expression grew moreplex.
He had never heard that the Imperial Censor''s daughter practiced medicine from childhood...
After finishing thest prescription, Shao He put down her pen, ready to rest and check on the child. Turning around, she entered the inner hall and fetched the baby.
Yet, upon looking up, she saw the masked man who hadn''t left, and the infant in her arms surprised her by grinning at him, drool trickling down from the corner of his mouth.
A strange feeling welled up inside her, and Shao He frowned at him for a long while.
Pei Huaian, feeling the intensity of her gaze, met it directly with his deep eyes, wheeled over with a smile, and said, "It seems I really have a connection with this child."
"This little guy rarely smiles at anyone."
Shao He couldn''t understand why the baby in her arms liked this masked man so much; it had been his intervention that stopped the baby from cryingst time, and now he was grinning at him.
The masked man raised his hand, wanting to caress the cheek but hesitated, fearing he might hurt the infant with his touch.
"This child is really adorable," Pei Huaian said with a doting tone.
The guard watching from a distance felt a chill run down his spine; was this really his master?
Why did he seem like a different person?
And furthermore, his master''s leg wasn''t really ufortable, so whye here for treatment?
This tender scene was interrupted by the arrival of Yun Qian, who approached Shao He and said, "Miss, I couldn''t buy the cow''s milk. I heard that a concubine of a local gentry had just given birth and bought up all the milk. I can only try to procure some from the city tomorrow."
Seemingly aware of theck of food, the baby in her arms suddenly burst into loud crying.
With no other choice, Shao He had to ask a shop assistant to prepare some millet porridge for the child to drink; it was better than letting the baby go hungry.
As the millet porridge was brought over, Shao He coaxed the child to drink, but a newborn could hardly be ustomed to millet porridge. The baby spit it out with his tongue and then broke into heart-wrenching sobs.
Pei Huaian''s handsome brows furrowed tightly, his hands clenching slowly on his wheelchair as he watched the child cry.
He quietly left, instructing his guard to purchase some cow''s milk and bring it over.
"Master, you... I''ll get right on it," the guard said, bowing his head under the stern gaze, not daring to ask further questions and only doing asmanded.

When he arrived at the pharmacy with the milk, Shao He was shocked to see the items on the table.
Her gaze shifted to Yun Qian. Hadn¡¯t it been said that milk was no longer avable? So what was this?
¡°May I ask where you purchased this milk?¡± Yun Qian was also surprised.
The guard did not answer Yun Qian¡¯s question, but instead turned to Shao He, delivering his master¡¯s message verbatim.
¡°This is a gift from my master. Firstly, as a consultation fee, and secondly, my master feels a particr affinity with this child.¡±
Shao He was not pretentious; the milk was precisely what the child needed. She nodded slightly and said, ¡°Please convey my thanks to your master for his kindness. Consider it a prepayment of the consultation fee.¡±
The guard bowed and departed, repeating her words when he returned, feeling like a carrier pigeon.
Pei Huaian, upon hearing this, had a faint smile on his lips.
The night was pitch-ck, with not a single light visible from hand.
A cold breeze blew through the air, chilling one¡¯s heart.
After coaxing the child to sleep, Shao He came alone to the pavilion, leaning against a pir and gazing into the dark night sky.
She didn¡¯t know why she hade here, nor did she know what path to take in the future.
If she were alone, it would have been simpler, but now with a child, her first priority was to find a way to provide for the child.
Furthermore, remaining here would also bring unnecessary trouble to Yun Qian, but with the child¡¯s age andck of household registration, it was difficult to make any move.
¡°Miss Shao?¡±
A gentle voice came from behind her.
Shao He came back to her senses, turned around, and asked the approaching figure, ¡°You haven¡¯t gone to bed yet, thiste?¡±
Yun Qian stood under the moonlight in a dark robe, his face adorned with a gentle smile, as if he had just stepped out of the moonlight.
Yun Qian then revealed a faint smile, ¡°Isn¡¯t Miss Shao also awake?¡±
The two sat down for a casual chat. Seeing her about to leave, Yun Qian couldn¡¯t help but ask, ¡°Does Miss Shao have any ns for the future?¡±
¡°I haven¡¯t decided yet.¡±
Shao He was still thinking about taking revenge on that couple and also wanted to leave Capital City, a ce of strife. At the moment, she felt utterly lost, unsure of where to go.
Yun Qian had wanted to ask her to stay, but as the words reached his lips, he felt it too abrupt and looked down as he watched her receding figure.
The next morning, soon after the store opened, ady, apanied by her daughter, entered.
Shao He immediately recognized the daughter wearing a straw hat; it was the same girl who hade for treatment yesterday. She led them straight to the guest room in the backyard.
After some conversation, it was revealed that the girl was Jhiang Yijia, the daughter of the Minister of the Household, and the woman apanying her was her mother, Lady Jhiang.
Lady Jhiang, after hearing her servant¡¯s words from the previous day and knowing her daughter¡¯s ailment could be cured, excitedly brought her daughter over once again.
¡°Doctor, may I ask, to what extent can you treat my condition?¡± Jhiang Yijia asked shyly.
Hearing her daughter¡¯s indirect query, Lady Jhiang added, ¡°That is, after the treatment, will she be able to marry and have children normally?¡±

¡°Of course,¡± Shao He nodded under their hopeful gazes.
¡°Mother, I can, I can¡¡±
¡°You can marry and have children normally, my daughter won¡¯t have to endure others¡¯ strange looks anymore,¡± Lady Jhiang said.
Mother and daughter embraced each other and began to cry. For so many years, they had searched for countless renowned doctors and consumed countless remedies to no avail.
Now, atst, they saw hope!
¡°Prepare yourselves; we can perform the surgery at any time,¡± Shao He interjected, breaking into their emotional moment.
¡°Can it be done today?¡± Jhiang Yijia asked cautiously.
¡°No problem. As long as you¡¯re ready, I can start anytime.¡±
Jhiang Yijia stood up, removed the straw hat from her head, and revealed her delicate features.
¡°I am ready.¡±
¡°Please, Lady Jhiang step out and wait. There can¡¯t be any mistakes during the surgery, and no one else can be present.¡±

Chapter 19: Chapter 19: In My Heart, There Is Only You
The two exchanged gazes for a while before Pei Huaian shifted his eyes away first, lowering his head to kiss the child¡¯s forehead.
The little one immediately broke into an adorable grin.
Looking into his pure eyes, Pei Huaian felt a strange emotion rising within him, but he quickly suppressed it.
The warm sunlight shone on the trio, and the bodyguard looking in through the window felt an inexplicable sense of harmony, as if they were a family of three all along.
The thought made him shudder, but he hadn¡¯t expected his master to cherish the child so much.
Shao He was also surprised. The usually fussy child had fallen asleep in his arms and seemed to be sleeping very sweetly.
She carefully took the child and ced him on the bed.
Before Pei Huaian left, he reminded her again, ¡°Gaining a reputation might not be a good thing for you.¡±
Shao He remained silent, giving him a deep look until Pei Huaian was far away; then her expression turned serious.
As days went by, Shao He¡¯s patients increasingly became numerous, many of whom came by reputation.
In the Marquis Pingnan¡¯s Mansion, Chu Yu hoped to make Luo Jiner his official wife soon and had invited the esteemed Imperial Doctor Zhang from the Imperial Medical Bureau to diagnose her, hoping to improve her condition.
After a thorough diagnosis, Imperial Doctor Zhang frowned deeply, stood up, and bowed, ¡°The youngdy suffers from a cold womb, making it almost impossible for her to conceive.¡±
¡°Is there really no way to treat it?¡± Chu Yu couldn¡¯t ept this oue; if his grandmother learned of it, she would never allow Jiner in.
Imperial Doctor Zhang sighed, ¡°This old servant is powerless.¡±
Luo Jiner turned deathly pale and copsed on the bed, prompting Chu Yu to quickly embrace her, consoling her gently.
Chu Yu looked at Imperial Doctor Zhang and asked, ¡°What kind of medicine is needed to treat Jiner? Just name it, and I¡¯ll provide whatever you need.¡±
¡°Marquis, even if we use Snow Lotus from the Heavenly Mountains, it cannot cure thedy¡¯s cold womb condition!¡±
Imperial Doctor Zhang clenched his sleeves and wiped the sweat from his brow. A cold womb meant infertility, and no amount of conditioning could remedy it.
¡°Useless! A bunch of good-for-nothings!¡± Chu Yu couldn¡¯t help but curse.
¡°Calm yourself, my lord¡ In fact, there is one person who might be able to cure thedy¡¯s ailment. It¡¯s been heard that Miss Jiang¡¯s infertility was cured by a female doctor; perhaps she can cure thedy¡¯s cold womb,¡± Imperial Doctor Zhang said on his knees.
Luo Jiner¡¯s eyes flickered with disdain, ¡°Could it be that the Jhiang Family, worried about Miss Jhiang tarnishing their reputation by staying unmarried too long, deliberately spread rumors that her illness was cured? So many reputable doctors couldn¡¯t cure her, how could a doctor from a small shop possibly seed?¡±
Hearing her disparaging tone, Imperial Doctor Zhang said no more and stood up to leave.
Chu Yu, embracing her, spoke firmly, ¡°Jiner, rest assured, I refuse to believe that there¡¯s no one under heaven who can cure your illness, I shall continue to seek renowned doctors for your treatment.¡±

Luo Jiner forced a weak smile, pulling up the corners of her lips: ¡°Thank you, my Lord. Jiner doesn¡¯t dare hope to be your wife; I only wish to serve by your side. I¡¯m just afraid ¡¡±
¡°Afraid of what?¡± he pressed.
¡°I¡¯m afraid once the newdy of the house enters, she won¡¯t let me continue to serve you, Lord. And if she¡¯s anything like thestdy who knew faces but not hearts, what then?¡± Luo Jiner said bitterly, her eyes void of any light.
¡°No, in my heart there¡¯s only you, and no one else can take your ce; certainly, there will be no new person,¡± he reassured ardently.
No sooner had Chu Yu made his promise than the formerdy of the house immediately brought forth a portrait for him to choose from, also having the nanny bring a booklet to introduce thesedies of prominent families to Chu Yu.

Chapter 20: Chapter 20: How did youe back?
Looking at the series of Beauty Pictures, Chu Yu dered resolutely, ¡°Grandmother, I will not marry another woman.¡±
Upon hearing this, Old Madam Chu forcefully pped the table, bypassed the screen, and entered the inner room. The sight of the person lying on the bed bed filled her with fury.
¡°A woman who can¡¯t bear children still has the face to live, and even shamelessly monopolizes Yuyu. She truly is a cmity born of beauty.¡± In her anger, Old Madam Chu picked up the teacup from the table and threw it.
Chu Yu caught the cup in time and said with anger in his eyes, ¡°Grandmother, this has nothing to do with Jiner. Shao He¡¯s body is not yet cold, and remarrying now would likely be criticized by others. Please reconsider.¡±
This excuse rendered Old Madam Chu speechless, as the honor of the Marquis¡¯s Mansion indeed needed to be considered carefully to avoid giving others something to chew on.
But she was not going to let Luo Jiner off the hook; monopolizing Chu Yu was utterly impossible.
¡°Fine, let¡¯s dy the matter of remarriage.¡±
Old Madam Chu nced at the sickly person and continued, holding Chu Yu¡¯s hand, ¡°Luo Jiner is unwell now, so I will arrange for two maids for you.¡±
Upon hearing this, Luo Jiner almost fainted. She had barely managed to kill Shao He, the chief wife, thinking she could take her ce as thedy of the Marquis¡¯s Mansion, but this damned old woman simply wouldn¡¯t agree.
Now, she still wanted to wedge people by the Marquis¡¯s side, all to snatch the Marquis¡¯s affection from her.
¡°Marquis, please agree to grandmother¡¯s request,¡± Luo Jiner pleaded, pulling on his hand, her eyes brimming with aggrieved emotions.
Old Madam Chu had no mood to watch her continue to perform, and turned around to leave. That very day, she sent two maids over.
Chu Yu was about to send them away when the nanny loudly said from outside the door, ¡°Old Madam instructed, if the Marquis does not keep these two, Luo Jiner must also leave with them.¡±
Hearing this, Chu Yu had no choice but to take them in.
When Luo Jiner heard the news, she was so furious that she smashed all the porcin in the room.
She red with rage, biting her teeth, ¡°This damned old woman, why can¡¯t she tolerate me!¡±
She was only one step away from rightfully marrying Chu Yu and bing thedy of the Marquis¡¯s Mansion, but now she was forced to be just another maid.

She would never give up!
A weekter, Jhiang Yijia could finally leave, and Lady Jhiang brought out twenty taels of silver as his consultation fee.
Shao He pocketed the weighty silver and saw Jhiang Yijia off in the carriage. At parting, he repeatedly cautioned her.
¡°During this time, pay attention to rest and eat some light food. Do not eat things like eggs, and avoid intercourse for a few months.¡±
¡°Alright, I have noted everything down. Thank you, Doctor,¡± Jhiang Yijia responded gently.
As Shao He watched the carriage moving further away, he turned back to the pharmacy, rushing to gather all the medicinal herbs being dried in the courtyard as the sky began to darken.
At midnight, a startling thunderp made the child in bed cry nonstop.
Shao He picked him up and soothed him softly. The child gradually fell asleep to his gentle song. As she put down the sleeping child, a sudden noise came from outside the door!
Shao He reached under the pillow for the dagger, got out of bed, dressed, and walked to the door.
¡°Knock, knock, knock.¡± A light knocking sound rang out.
¡°Who is it?¡±
¡°It¡¯s me.¡±
A deep voice replied,
Shao He abruptly opened the door and, seeing the person in the wheelchair, eximed, ¡°How did youe back?¡±
Pei Huaian nced inside and whispered, ¡°Can Ie in? It¡¯s windy outside; don¡¯t let it blow on the child.¡±
Shao He nodded, ¡°Come in.¡±

The guard was just about to push him inside when he saw his master¡¯s gaze and immediately let go, standing guard outside the door.
Shao He lit the candle, and the room instantly brightened up. Only then did she notice that something seemed off about this man, as there was a strong smell of blood on him.
¡°You are injured.¡±
These words were not a question, but a statement.

¡°Could you bandage me?¡± Pei Huaian asked weakly.
¡°Sure.¡± Shao He nodded, turned around to take the golden sore medicine from the cab, and found some gauze to hand to him.
¡°Wait a moment.¡±
After finishing speaking, she went to the kitchen to fetch some hot water, preparing to clean his wound, and then took some disinfectant from a mental space.
Pei Huaian¡¯s gaze fell on those pale, delicate hands, a trace of darkness flickered in his eyes, but when he lifted his face, it had returned to a calm and unrippled expression.
¡°Take off your clothes.¡± Shao He was preparing, giving orders to the neatly dressed man.
Pei Huaian slowly lifted his arm, an action that seemed to take a great deal of effort.
Unable to stand watching, Shao He went over, unfastened his belt, peeled back his clothes, and gazed at the pale skin, the fine corbone, her eyes inadvertently drifting downward.
Looking at the eight-pack abs on his abdomen, she couldn¡¯t help but marvel that he truly was a beautiful man, though she wondered what his face looked like.
¡°Have you looked enough?¡± Pei Huaian caught her infatuated gaze, understanding for the first time the use of having a good body.
Shao He concealed the expression in her eyes, checked his wounds, discovered they were sword cuts, wiped away the blood around, sprinkled golden sore medicine on the wounds, and wrapped them with bandages.
During the close contact, she suddenly smelled a faint scent of sandalwood on him, which blurred her memories of the original host. That night she was drugged and shared intimacy with a man, it seemed to be this scent too.
Remembering that the man had a birthmark on his waist, she was about to stretch out her hand to check his waist for it when her wrist was suddenly grabbed.
¡°I can take care of the rest myself,¡± Pei Huaian said, his heartbeat elerating as he restrained himself, somewhat regretting his folly in wanting to meet her instead of seeking the mansion doctor to dress the wound.
Shao He withdrew her hand. Perhaps she was overthinking. How could a man in a wheelchair share a moment of passion with her? Even if he desired, he was powerless.
¡°Thank you.¡± Pei Huaian finished dressing, breathing a sigh of relief.
Shao He nodded, ¡°It¡¯s nothing, just lending a hand.¡±
After speaking, Shao He turned around and left.
¡°Miss Shao.¡±
She halted as a call came from behind her, turning her head to look at him.
Each time she saw those deep eyes, she feared she would fall into them.
¡°It must be very hard for you, raising a child alone, right?¡±
His tone was full of concern and worry.
¡°Hmm?¡± Shao He blinked, puzzled,
Pei Huaian lowered his gaze to hide the emotion in his eyes, and when he looked up again, his expression was cid,
¡°Never mind, just asking,¡± Pei Huaian pursed his lips, a fleetingplex look crossing his eyes.
As morning light streamed into the room, Shao He woke up to find Pei Huaian had vanished.
She did not mind, freshened up, and was ready to continue seeing patients.
Suddenly, the sound of gongs and drums came from outside, drawing many patients out to see themotion. Shao He also got up and followed them.
Outside, the sound of gongs and drums filled the air, firecrackers were popping, and two men were carrying a que towards them, followed by Lady Jhiang and Jhiang Yijia.
All along the way, many people turned to look.
What was going on?
Shao He frowned and looked over, recognizing the followers as Lady Jhiang and her daughter.
¡°Doctor Shao.¡± Lady Jhiang hurried over with her daughter.

¡°What is this for?¡± Faced with such an imposing disy, Shao He had not a trace of joy on her face.
Upon hearing this, Lady Jhiang immediately showed a smile, hurriedly quickened her steps to Shao He¡¯s side, and pointed to the que, ¡°We made this que especially for you, to thank you for healing my daughter¡¯s illness.¡±
Jhiang Yijia walked over and took her hand, her face full of gratitude, ¡°Thank you, Miss Shao, if it weren¡¯t for you, I might never have had the chance to marry and have children.¡±
Shao He gave a faint smile, ¡°Miss Jhiang is too kind, as a doctor this is my duty.¡±

Having said this, she turned her gaze to the que in between, which read ¡°Miraculous Healing¡± in fourrge characters.
Jhiang Yijia took out an invitation from her bosom and handed it to her, her tone sincere, ¡°Should you have any needs in the future, you can find me at the Ministry of Households¡¯ Vice Minister¡¯s Mansion.¡±
¡°Miss Jhiang, I¡¡± Shao He hesitated.
Lady Jhiang smiled from the side, ¡°Doctor Shao, don¡¯t decline any further, you saved my daughter¡¯s life, we will certainly help you with any needs you might have.¡±
Shao He held the handed-over invitation, feeling like she was holding a hot potato, and couldn¡¯t help but remember the previous warning the masked man had given her.
She promptly returned the invitation, ¡°It is only natural for a doctor to heal and save people, Lady Jhiang, Miss Jhiang Xiaoxue, you need not keep it in mind.¡±
She did not wish to have close rtions with these people of power, fearing that it would expose her identity, Lady Jhiang, seeing this, did not force her, not necessarily insisting she agree to anything, only wishing to repay her properly.
¡°Doctor Shao, since you won¡¯t ept the invitation, then please ept the meeting gift I have prepared for the child, although it¡¯s not worth much silver, it is a token of my gratitude.¡±
Lady Jhiang took out a pair of exquisite jade bracelets from her bosom and held them before Shao He.
Shao He was slightly stunned, hastily waving her hand, ¡°This is too precious, how dare I ept it?¡±
¡°You saved my daughter, how could you not deserve these things,¡± Lady Jhiang said, as she firmly ced the bracelets in her hands.
Having already regarded Shao He as her daughter¡¯s lifesaver, upon knowing she had a child, Lady Jhiang specifically had someone make this pair of jade bracelets, seeing this, Shao He felt it would be inappropriate to refuse any further and could only bring the two individuals into the room.
In the chamber, the child was still sound asleep, Lady Jhiang sat by the bed, her eyes full of tender love as she looked at such a well-behaved child, gently holding him in her arms, extremely pleased.
ncing up, she saw the man in the wheelchair outside, and felt a familiar sensation, prompting Lady Jhiang to look at him a few more times.
Shao He followed her gaze and noticed that the masked man had not left, blocking Lady Jhiang¡¯s line of sight.
¡°In a few days, I will be leaving Anji Hall, and currently, I only wish to heal in peace, without drawing too much attention, I hope you will forgive me,¡± Shao He said with a slight bow, her attitude very humble.
Lady Jhiang was a wise woman and understood the implications of her words, put down the child, and nodded, ¡°Of course, you go on with your work, we wille to visit you some other time.¡±
Shao He escorted them to the door, and suddenly, Lady Jhiang cast a sideways nce and asked, ¡°The man wearing the mask just now, is he a friend of Doctor Shao?¡±
Shao He was startled, unsure why Lady Jhiang would ask such a question, and shook her head, ¡°You are mistaken,dy, he is not my friend, just my patient.¡±
Hearing this, Lady Jhiang said no more.
As there were still patients waiting outside, Shao He left first.
Watching her thinning figure, Lady Jhiang couldn¡¯t help but sigh.

Chapter 23: Chapter 23 Why do misfortunes ur?
¡°Doctor Shao living alone with a child is truly not easy. Not wanting to attract too much attention, she must be afraid of encountering cmities.¡±
Jhiang Yijia asked in confusion, ¡°Why would she encounter cmities?¡±
¡°A widow with a child is the most susceptible to being bullied, especially by those men who bully others by unting their power. Moreover, the child could also bebeled as illegitimate, a child without a father. She would be ridiculed by others,¡± Lady Jhiang exined and then sighed deeply.
A woman living alone with a child is not easy; if she lives well, she will definitely arouse the envy of others who dislike theplications of life, and who knows how many gossips and rumors could be spread at that time.
Jhiang Yijia immediately understood, just like when she had been pointed at by others.
Children scornfully called illegitimate felt extremely distressed, clenching their fists tightly.
But now Shao He¡¯s identity is special, and it was not easy for him to protect her openly.
¡°Mother, why do you think Doctor Shao is living alone with her child? Where is the child¡¯s father?¡±
Lady Jhiang pondered for a moment and said, ¡°Doctor Shao¡¯s demeanor does not suggest shees from a family of farmers, and her ent sounds particrly like that of someone from Capital City.¡±
¡°Capital City?¡± Jhiang Yijia was even more puzzled.
Seeing the surprised look on her daughter¡¯s face, Lady Jhiang pondered for a moment and said, ¡°This is Doctor Shao¡¯s private matter, you should mind your own business less.¡±
Seeing that her mother seemed reluctant to discuss further, Jhiang Yijia closed her mouth and said nothing.
Shao He was busy all morning and finally returned to the small courtyard after finishing her consultations.
Yun Qian was organizing medicinal materials and smiled as he saw the returning person, saying, ¡°Finished atst.¡±
¡°Hmm,¡± responded Shao He, went straight to the stone table, sat down, poured a cup of tea, and took a small sip.
Yun Qian put down the medicinal materials in his hand, sat opposite her, and Shao He put down her cup and said, ¡°I might leave earlier than nned.¡±
Yun Qian was not surprised that she suddenly proposed to leave earlier; instead, he understood very well, considering Miss Shao¡¯s umon identity.
At the same time, he worried about her having nowhere to go and couldn¡¯t help but ask, ¡°Where do you n to go after you leave here, Miss Shao?¡±
Shao He shook her head, ¡°I haven¡¯t decided yet, but there are still a few patients who have not beenpletely cured. I might have to stay a few more days.¡±
She disliked leaving things halfway, as a doctor, she had to be responsible for the patients she had treated.
Yun Qian fell silent for a moment, then suddenly looked up, ¡°Anji Hall has a branch in Liancheng, and I have rtives there. Would you consider going?¡±

As Shao He turned around, she noticed the masked man who had not yet left the corner. Seeing his distressed expression, she thought he was worried about his leg and stepped towards him.
¡°I didn¡¯t mean to eavesdrop. I was just passing by here by chance and happened to hear your discussion,¡± the masked man said, his voice a bit hoarse, which made it all the more maically appealing.

Pei Huaian snapped back to reality and did not reveal his address, but instead asked, ¡°Where do you think one can hide without being discovered?¡±
Shao He was slightly stunned, remembered the previous reminder from the man in the mask, and felt he seemed to know everything. On second thought, since the original owner once socialized in the identities of the legitimate daughter of the Imperial Censor and the Lady of the Marquis of Pingnan, it was normal that some people knew her identity.
¡°Thank you for keeping my secret.¡±
Pei Huaian¡¯s lips curled up slightly, as if to acknowledge that he knew Shao He¡¯s identity, and he began to analyze the situation for her.
¡°Now that you have cured Jhiang Yijia, and with the Jhiang Family¡¯s promotion, even if you leave Anji Hall, tomorrow your portrait and missing person notices will cover the entire Capital City.¡±
Shao He¡¯s brow furrowed slightly, ¡°I¡¯m not worried about my identity being exposed, but I am concerned that it could implicate Anji Hall and Yun Qian.¡±
Yun Qian, who had kindly taken her in and looked after her and her child, providing them a ce to stay, she couldn¡¯t drag Yun Qian into this.
This would be repaying kindness with ingratitude, something she couldn¡¯t do.
Pei Huaian understood her thoughts and continued his analysis, ¡°Chu Yu is a despot at home and cares a lot about his reputation; he won¡¯t overtly harm you in public, but what he might do in private is uncertain.¡±
These words, although hard to ept, were undeniably reasonable ording to the man in the mask¡¯s analysis.
Chu Yu cared extremely about his reputation, which caused Shao He to start to hesitate, and think about the unbearable things Chu Yu had done to her and her child in the past.
If she were caught by Chu Yu again, she definitely wouldn¡¯t have anything good to expect, and she currently had no power to resist, let alone the fact that she had a child with her, she couldn¡¯t take the risk.
Seeing her hesitation, Pei Huaian cleared his throat and continued, ¡°It is said that the Minister of the Court of Judicial Review, Yan Ze, does not get along with the Chu Family.¡±
Shao He¡¯s clear eyes narrowed, ¡°You mean to use this, to get the Minister of the Court of Judicial Review to help me?¡±
¡°The Minister of the Court of Judicial Review¡¯s rank is second only to the Minister, and although Chu Yu is a Marquis, he can¡¯t do whatever he wants. Theparison of who is stronger and who is weaker is obvious.¡±
¡°Why would the Minister of the Court of Judicial Review help me?¡± Shao He didn¡¯t believe that there was such a thing as a free lunch in this world; no one would help you for no reason ¡ª there must be some interest involved.
Pei Huaian smiled and humbly replied, ¡°I once did a favor for the Yan Family; I can ask him to protect Anji Hall. With him aboveboard, Chu Yu would not dare to act rashly.¡±
Shao He looked into his unfathomable eyes and finally agreed.
¡°Now that the child is still young, I truly don¡¯t want to have to drag him around, hiding here and there. After all, no father would have the heart to abandon his child and wife at Mass Burial Mound, such a person doesn¡¯t deserve to be called human.

Recovering herposure, Luo Jiner pretended to be overjoyed, took her hand, and calmly said, ¡°I just knew my sister had good fortune and wouldn¡¯te to harm. The Marquis and I have missed you terribly. If I bring you back, the Marquis would be delighted.¡±
Seeing the feigned expression, Shao He immediately withdrew her hand, her tone remaining cold, ¡°If the youngdy isn¡¯t here for treatment, please make room for others and don¡¯t disturb me while I tend to other patients.¡±
Luo Jiner was irritated by her attitude.
After everything that had happened, how could she still act so high and mighty here?
¡°This Doctor Shao here is just a chatan with no medical skills, a fraudster just out to swindle money,¡± she said.
Luo Jiner mmed the table and stood up abruptly. No one knew Shao He better than she did; there was no way she could have medical skills. She must have resorted to deceiving people for money out of desperation.
The townsfolk waiting in line who had witnessed Shao He¡¯s medical skills scoffed upon hearing her usation, ¡°If you don¡¯t know what you¡¯re talking about, don¡¯t make unfounded ims. We have all seen Doctor Shao¡¯s medical expertise.¡±
¡°Then why bothering here if you don¡¯t believe?¡±
The surrounding people chattered in disagreement, leaving Luo Jiner¡¯s face looking very unpleasant.
¡°So will you have a look or not?¡±
¡°If you¡¯re not going to have it seen to, please make way. We¡¯re still waiting,¡± the crowd behind urged.
Thesements from the townsfolk stung Luo Jiner, who was always haughty and proud; she couldn¡¯t stand being belittled like this.
¡°I will expose you today. I want to see how long you can keep up this act,¡± she challenged.
Jhiang Yijia looked somewhat embarrassed, having not expected things to escte, and quickly tried to cate Luo Jiner, ¡°Doctor Shao is indeed highly skilled in medicine.¡±
Then Jhiang Yijia turned to the stoic Shao He.
¡°Miss Luo is infertile. Could you diagnose why and tell us if there is any hope for a cure?¡±
Jhiang Yijia could only brazen it out and try to steer things back on track, since she was the one who started all this.
Luo Jiner also realized that continuing to cause a scene would be very detrimental to her, so she reluctantly sat down again and reached out her hand.
Shao He felt her pulse and after diagnosing said, ¡°The youngdy has a cold uterus; she has been hurt before and has great difficulty in conceiving. Every time her monthly cyclees, she suffers terribly, and the time of arrival is very irregr.¡±
Luo Jiner hadn¡¯t expected that she would really have medical skills and urately describe her condition.
Chapter 26: One who brings trouble upon himself must suffer the consequences
Chapter 26: Chapter 26: One who brings trouble upon himself must suffer the consequences
To prove that Shao He had no medical skills and was just being stubborn, Luo Jiner deliberately said, ¡°It¡¯s impossible for my monthly periods to always be so regr, and I¡¯ve never felt unwell nor have I ever been injured.¡±
Themon people around her began to waver upon hearing her say this.
Some even whispered, ¡°Could it be that Doctor Shao¡¯s medical skills are really a sham?¡±
¡°Could everything have been an exaggeration?¡±
Themoners behind her each added their remarks, and Luo Jiner, upon hearing these words, smiled delightedly.
Shao He didn¡¯t bother to argue with her, knowing the best way to handle a pest like her was to ignore her.
¡°It¡¯s myck of proficiency in medicine that I can¡¯t diagnose thedy¡¯s illness; please seek another distinguished doctor,¡± he said.
Luo Jiner¡¯s smug expression froze, and she hadn¡¯t expected to be so readily dismissed. She said through gritted teeth, ¡°Are you admitting that you have no medical skills?¡±
Shao He looked at her as if gazing at a clown and snorted coldly, ¡°Lady, please watch your words. What I said was that my medical skills are not perfect and cannot cure your disease, but that doesn¡¯t mean everyone else behind you suffers from the same condition.¡±
Luo Jiner was fuming with anger but had no recourse. To preserve her good reputation, she still paid the consultation fee.
Jhiang Yijia, seeing that those who left did not pursue the matter, merely sat to one side quietly watching Shao He. The intelligent woman had already guessed Doctor Shao¡¯s identity, but her attempts to approach and exin were ignored.

¡°If Miss Jhiang has nothing further, please leave,¡± he said.
Jhiang Yijia, sensing his indifferent attitude, immediately felt awkward and hastened to exin, ¡°I¡¯m sorry, Doctor Shao. It was the Marquis who found my father, and I had no choice but to bring her here.¡±
¡°It¡¯s said that Old Madam Chu gave the Marquis two more concubines, and Miss Luo got into fights with the concubines. But the Old Madam wants a child, and Miss Luo, being infertile, sought many Imperial Physicians in vain. When the Marquis heard about my case, he came looking for me.¡±
Jhiang Yijia didn¡¯t know Doctor Shao¡¯s identity, otherwise, she would never have brought her along, ¡°I¡¯m sorry, Doctor Shao, I truly didn¡¯t do it on purpose.¡±
Shao He, observing the sincerely apologizing woman, thought to herself: Even without Jhiang Yijia, this matter probably couldn¡¯t have been kept secret much longer.
¡°Well, it was bound toe out sooner orter,¡± she conceded.
Jhiang Yijia then breathed a sigh of relief, but when she thought of how Luo Jiner had behaved that day, worry crept into her heart, ¡°How about youe to my house to hide from trouble, to avoid the Marquis Pingnan¡¯s Mansioning after you?¡±
Though she didn¡¯t know the whole story, her inclination was to trust her lifesaver¡ªDoctor Shao¡¯s kindness indicated he was no viin.
¡°Thank you for your kindness, but I believe Luo Jiner won¡¯t leak any news of my whereabouts here for the time being,¡± he responded.
Shao He was fully confident that, as Luo Jiner sought a renowned doctor to treat her infertility, she would not possibly reveal her and her child¡¯s location to the Marquis Pingnan¡¯s Mansion.
If Old Madam Chu found out she and her child were still alive, she would certainly bring them back. Luo Jiner wouldn¡¯t allow such a thing to happen; she was sure to keep the secret of having seen her.
Jhiang Yijia looked at her in admiration, ¡°Doctor Shao, you really are too clever.¡±
To think that she¡¯d always been called the talented youngdy of Capital City, she felt she couldn¡¯tpare with Doctor Shao in the slightest.
Shao He chuckled lightly, it seemed that Luo Jiner¡¯s days weren¡¯t easy either; no doubt she¡¯d suffered under Old Madam Chu, not to mention dealing with the two concubines as well.
It is said that heaven¡¯s wrath is bearable, but one¡¯s own wrongdoing is unforgivable.
Meanwhile, Luo Jiner returned to the Marquis Pingnan¡¯s Mansion, walking through the corridor and stopping as she heardughter in the distance.

At this time, within the small courtyard.
With a ¡°creak,¡± a redcquered wooden door was pushed open, and a man dressed in a ck long gown emerged from behind the door.
His steps were steady yet slow, unhurried and unflustered, yet they exuded a temperament that instilled a sense of tranquility in others.
The man looked up outside, then quickly retracted his gaze and briskly walked towards the teahouse.
In the side room, an incense burner was emitting wisps of smoke, filling the air, and a faint scent of tea wafted through.

On the table, there was a set of purple y pots, a few jade cups, and two exquisite teacups.
The man walked straight to the table, picked up one of the teacups, and sipped lightly, looking at Pei Huaian in the wheelchair.
At that moment, Pei Huaian, holding a ck chess piece, was intently observing the chessboardyout.
¡°What have you called me here for this time?¡± Yan Ze asked as he put down his teacup.
He could be said to never visit Sanbao Hall without cause; he would not seek him out without reason. Each visit had a purpose.
¡°y a game.¡±
Seeing this, Yan Ze did not ask further but nodded in agreement.
The two sat opposite each other, with a pot of hot tea and teacups on the table.
Yan Ze held a white chess piece but did not move for a long time; Pei Huaian did not urge him but merely waited silently.
After a long while, Yan Ze finally spoke, ¡°I¡¯ve lost.¡±
Pei Huaian nodded, his mouth always harboring a faint smile, ¡°There¡¯s something I need your help with.¡±
¡°Oh, you need my help? That¡¯s unusual.¡±
Yan Ze was quite curious about what could make him ask for help.
¡°Instruct your men to guard Anji Hall.¡±
Yan Ze¡¯s eyebrows slightly raised. He picked up his teacup and leaned forward. ¡°That doesn¡¯t sound like you. When did you start meddling in other affairs?¡±
Pei Huaian did not want to borate further, just cast a nce and said, ¡°You should arrange for more patrols nearby.¡±
¡°This¡¡± Yan Ze feigned difficulty.
Pei Huaian¡¯s gaze lifted slightly, ¡°As a reward, the Warm Jade chess set will be delivered to your residence tomorrow.¡±
¡°For such a small matter, even without a reward, I would do my best to handle it.¡± Yan Ze immediately agreed, delighted. He had long coveted the Warm Jade chess set, and now that he was finally getting it, he was naturally overjoyed.
He hadn¡¯t expected such a simple task would fetch him the object he had long desired. He had been coveting Pei Huaian¡¯s Warm Jade chess set for a long time, but he had never mentioned it.Update by n0vgo.co
This made Yan Ze even more curious about what could make him make such a sacrifice.
Looking at Pei Huaian before him, with his handsome features and serious expression, though his face bore a hint of sickness.
Seeing that the other was silent, Yan Ze continued, ¡°Why haven¡¯t you returned to the pce since you¡¯ve been back in the capital for many days? The Empress has already started choosing consorts for you.¡±
A flicker of disgust passed fleetingly through Pei Huaian¡¯s eyes as he thought of the Empress¡¯s hypocritical demeanor, but it quickly disappeared, returning to his usual indifferent state.
¡°My legs aren¡¯t healed yet, returning might not be enough to fend off both the overt and covert attacks,¡± Pei Huaian said, slightly lifting his head, his gaze devoid of warmth, his voice also carrying a chill.
As they spoke, Yan Ze caught a glimpse of someone shopping below and signaled with his eyes, ¡°Is that the owner of Anji Hall?¡±
He knew a bit about the owner of Anji Hall, whose medical skills were good enough for the Imperial Medical Bureau, yet he chose not to work there but instead opened his own medical hall; he was indeed a peculiar person.
Others longed to enter the Imperial Medical Bureau, an institution they couldn¡¯t get into, but he seemed to have no interest in it, as if it were a dragon¡¯s den.
Following his gaze, Pei Huaian indeed spotted Yun Qianing out to shop, holding many baby products, apparently buying them for a child.

Pei Huaian¡¯s heart was very discontent, and the aura around him became chillingly cold.
Yan Ze felt the temperature inside the room drop, and as he was about to ask the person radiating coldness, he saw him abruptly turn his head.
¡°I have something else to attend to, I¡¯ll leave first.¡±
Leaving behind these words, Pei Huaian wheeled himself away.
Ah Mo was waiting outside, and upon seeing him emerge, went up to him and pushed the wheelchair away from the tea house.
¡°Go buy some baby products, the expensive ones, better ones, get a full set.¡±
Ah Mo didn¡¯t understand his master¡¯s intent, but still carried out the orders. His master¡¯s unusual behavior wasn¡¯t a first; he had gradually be ustomed to it.
Ah Mo ran to many shops, buying everything from baby food to clothes, toys, and fabrics.
¡°Master, is this enough?¡± Ah Mo truly had no more hands to spare.
¡°Hmm,¡± Pei Huaian nodded in satisfaction.
Shao He finished her medical consultations and felt a soreness in her neck after the busy flurry. She massaged her neck, rotating it a few times, and was just about to sit down for a drink of water when she suddenly heard a knock on the door.

She set down the tea cup, walked over, and opened the door, where Ah Mo stood with a huge pile of items, even blocking his line of sight.
Pei Huaian wheeled over, gesturing for Ah Mo to ce the items inside the room.
¡°What¡¯s all this¡?¡±
¡°I feel a connection with the child, an instant fondness. I especially like him. This is a small token of my appreciation.¡± Pei Huaian felt that even these things were somewhat insufficient, and had it not been for the fear of appearing too ostentatious, he would have surely had Ah Mo buy even more.
Children grow quickly; it¡¯s best to buy more and have it on hand.
Shao He¡¯s mouth twitched slightly as she looked at the pile of various baby products and luxurious fabrics before her, a dazzle to the eyes.Upd@te by n0vgo .c0
¡°Actually, you needn¡¯t go to this extent. I will heal your wound to the best of my ability,¡± Shao He felt that his doing all this was simply to get her to heal his leg as quickly as possible.
Pei Huaian noticed her misunderstanding and defended himself, ¡°I just feel a kinship with the child, nothing more.¡±
With a helpless shrug, Shao He¡¯s gazended on a box amid the many gifts. She walked over, dug the box out from the myriad of items, and then picked it up and opened it.
A stunningly translucent Jade Hairpiny before her, its quality and craftsmanship nothing short of perfection.
Shao He stared at the Jade Hairpin, her gaze flickering incessantly, clearly aware that this hairpin was no cheap item.
Pei Huaian didn¡¯t dare meet Shao He¡¯s eyes, fearful of his inner thoughts being seen through. He lowered his gaze to hide the unusual color at the bottom of his eyes.
Shao He picked up the hairpin inside the box and shook it slightly, a faint smile curling at the corner of her mouth, ¡°Is this also for the child?¡±
From any perspective, the hairpin was something the child likely couldn¡¯t use.
At the time, Pei Huaian had merely thought the Jade Hairpin was extremely beautiful, and would look even more beautiful if worn by Shao He. Thus, on a whim, he purchased it.
Thinking to offer it as a gift along with the other presents, he didn¡¯t expect it to be singled out.
¡°This is for the child¡¯s mother,¡± Pei Huaian said in a deep voice.
The surprise in Shao He¡¯s eyes was more than apparent. After a moment of astonishment, she came back to her senses, intending to decline the gift, but Pei Huaian stopped her.
A smile deepened at the corner of Pei Huaian¡¯s mouth as he exined, ¡°It¡¯s not something very expensive. Since it¡¯s already purchased, please ept it.¡±
Shao He closed the box, her fingers gently caressing the engraved patterns on it, well aware of the hairpin¡¯s significant value.
¡°Thank you, but you really shouldn¡¯t go to such expense in the future.¡± Shao He truly didn¡¯t want to owe too much to someone; after all, in this world, the most difficult debt to repay is the debt of gratitude.

She didn¡¯t want to owe anyone anything; she just hoped to lead a stable life with her child.
¡°Alright,¡± Pei Huaian verbally agreed, but he thought to himself that he absolutely must not fall behind when it came to buying things in the future.
When Yun Qian returned, the two were casually chatting. He stepped into the room and paused slightly upon seeing the items on the table.
The things he had bought were not many, and seemingly not as good as those on the table, yet he still smiled as he handed them out.
¡°These are the things I bought for the child.¡± Yun Qian masked the expression in his eyes and handed over the items. Having already bought them, they were of no use in his hands, and he didn¡¯t want topete; it was all for the child¡¯s welfare.
¡°You guys really do think alike,¡± Shao He raised her eyebrows slightly, nced at the person in the wheelchair, and then at the items being handed over.
Yun Qian¡¯s smile remained gentle, as tender as the warm sun in winter.
Shao He took the items and said seriously, ¡°Next time, you really don¡¯t need to go to such expense. The child doesn¡¯t need so many things right now.¡±
Though she knew they both had the child in mind, the favor was too difficult to repay.
Just then, the child in the room suddenly began to cry. Luo Jiner went into the inner room, brought the child out, and fed him some milk.
The well-fed little guy instantly became spirited, staring with big eyes and even reaching out to grab.
Yun Qian walked over, extended his finger to touch the baby¡¯s cheek, but when the little one grabbed his finger and proceeded to bring it to his mouth and failed, the baby started crying. Panicked, Yun Qian immediately withdrew his hand, not knowing what to do.
¡°Good boy, don¡¯t cry, don¡¯t cry.¡± Shao He gently soothed, but the little guy seemed not to take it, still letting out a loud cry.
Pei Huaian rolled his wheelchair over and reached out his hand, ¡°Let me try.¡±
Shao He hesitated for a moment, then handed the child to him.
The moment the little one was in his arms, he stopped crying, staring at him with tear-filled eyes and blowing bubbles.
Seeing the exceptionally quiet child, Shao He was extremely surprised. This child really seemed to have a special connection with the man wearing the mask.
Pei Huaian held him close, felt the child¡¯s soft body warming his heart, and looked up to ask, ¡°Have you named the child yet?¡±
¡°Yes, his name is Shao Linzhang, which means a graceful person with great aspirations.¡±
Yun Qian and Pei Huaian simultaneously eximed, ¡°Linzhang¡¯s waters flow long, wishing the orchard¡¯s fruit thrives¡ªtruly a majestic name.¡±
As soon as these words were spoken, Shao He¡¯s gaze lingered peculiarly on the two men, wondering when they had be so in sync.
¡°Cough, cough, that indeed is a good name,¡± Pei Huaian, unable to bear her intense gaze, formed a fist and lightly coughed twice.
¡°Yes, a very good name,¡± Yun Qian agreed.
Shao He, finding something amusing, stroked her chin as she looked at both men, feeling that they were quite well-matched.
¡°By the way, I heard Luo Jiner came by today. Did she do anything to you?¡± Yun Qian hurriedly changed the topic.
Shao He collected her thoughts and briefly mentioned the day¡¯s events, not really taking Luo Jiner seriously.
¡°She¡¯s not very capable, only resorting to petty tricks, nothing to worry about.¡±
Hearing that there was no issue, Yun Qian finally rxed. Pei Huaian hadn¡¯t expected Luo Jiner to show up so quickly, and even if there was no issue this time, who could guarantee the next.
¡°I¡¯ve already informed the Yan Family; they will arrange for patrol. Just be extra careful yourself.¡±

¡°Miss, this¡¡±
¡°What ¡®this¡¯? Hurry up and go. If you dare to botch things up again this time, I definitely won¡¯t spare you!¡± Luo Jiner said as she looked at the hesitating figure before her, raising her hand and pinching her arm fiercely.
Qiu Zhu almost cried out in pain and could only agree meekly.
To leave a deep impression on thoseing for consultations, she had gone to the front and made a loud fuss, attempting to jump the queue to see the doctor.
Shao He lifted her eyelids slightly and said in a cold voice, ¡°If you want to see the doctor, go and line up at the back.¡±
Qiu Zhu felt intimidated by her gaze and had no choice but to obediently line up at the back.
When it was Qiu Zhu¡¯s turn for a consultation, she extended her hand.
After taking her pulse, Shao He said coldly, ¡°It¡¯s not a significant problem, you¡¯re suffering from long-term sleep deprivation, which is causing blood deficiency and often results in dizziness, weakness, and headaches.¡±
¡°That¡¯s right, Doctor, I do indeed have these diforts.¡±
Qiu Zhu had just been bought and assigned to serve Luo Jiner, whose temper was not good. She rarely had time to rest, and even her nights of sleep were disrupted several times.
¡°It¡¯s not a serious issue. I¡¯ll prescribe you a few forms. Go back and brew them several times; it should improve. But most importantly, you need to make sure you rest,¡± Shao He said as she picked up her brush to write the prescription and instructed her to get the medicine.
Just as Qiu Zhu was holding the prescription and about to stand up to leave, Shao He suddenly called out to stop her and took out a ceramic jar from the table to give to her.
¡°This is the frostbite ointment I developed. Apply it to the areas affected by frostbite, and it will heal quickly; it also has an itch-relieving effect.¡±
¡°I don¡¯t have that kind of money,¡± Qiu Zhu said, a little flustered. She was just a maid; how could she afford to buy frostbite ointment?
Shao He exined to her, ¡°You must have misunderstood, Miss. This box of ointment is free of charge. I hope that after you use it and it works, you could help spread the word.¡±
Qiu Zhu didn¡¯t expect such good fortune, took the ointment with joy, and nodded in thanks.
Luo Jiner was peering out sneakily, waiting to see who woulde out of the medical hall, and when she saw the familiar figure, she walked up to meet her. ¡°How did it go?¡±
¡°This female doctor¡¯s medical skills are indeed remarkable.¡±

When Luo Jiner heard her praise, a sneer shed across her eyes, ¡°How did the matter go?¡±
Qiu Zhu came to her senses and replied, ¡°It¡¯s been handled as you instructed, miss. Everyone present should remember that I was there.¡±
¡°Good.¡± Luo Jiner suddenly remembered something, her expression changing instantly as she stared at Qiu Zhu, ¡°What did you just say?¡±
¡°I¡ I¡¡± Qiu Zhu, seeing her mistress in such a state, didn¡¯t know how to respond.
Luo Jiner pinched her arm fiercely and twisted it, then proceeded to beat and scold her.
¡°You worthless wench! Do you not know who feeds you? Such an ungrateful creature!¡±
Qiu Zhu endured the pain on her body, tears falling drop by drop. With a mistress like this, all she could do was bear it; there was no other choice.
The jar of frostbite ointment in her sleeve nearly fell out; she quickly caught it and stuffed it back.
¡°Wouldn¡¯t the mistress punish her again if she saw the frostbite ointment?¡± Qiu Zhu decided to keep this a secret. After all, it was just a jar of special frostbite ointment. Even if she hid it, it wouldn¡¯t affect the mistress¡¯s ns in any way.
By the end of the day, Shao He had given away dozens of jars of frostbite ointment, a strategy to attract customers. As the saying goes, you can¡¯t trap a wolf without a lure.
This way, many people could try the frostbite ointment first, and if they found it effective, they would undoubtedly return to purchase more. The samples given out were not as substantial as the actual frostbite ointment, which came in muchrger jars.
That evening during dinner, Shao He mentioned this matter.
¡°I¡¯ve given away dozens of jars of frostbite ointment for free. Deduct the money from my own funds.¡± Shao He did this to advertise for free; only with people using it would they know if it was effective.
Yun Qian refused, ¡°No need. But your frostbite ointment is truly effective, and it is even better than what we have developed.¡±
He was very curious as to how Shao He could produce such an effective ointment at the lowest cost, but he knew some medical techniques should not be shared openly, so this curiosity remained buried in his heart.
At that moment, she suddenly recalled the batch of frostbite ointment ordered by the man in the mask, and mentioned casually, ¡°That man¡¯s frostbite ointment is already packed up, just waiting for him to collect it. Who is he, anyway, needing so much frostbite ointment?¡±
Shao He paused in her meal, ¡°Perhaps it¡¯s a gift.¡±
Yun Qian¡¯s brow furrowed slightly, ¡°But when he ordered, he said the frostbite ointment must be sealed even more tightly. If it is a gift, why does it need such careful sealing?¡±
He wasn¡¯t one to pry, but felt it strange.
In her heart, Shao He also had a guess; the frostbite ointment was likely headed for the frontier, and the masked man could be a General.
Otherwise, how could he have such capability and frequently incur injuries, but she kept these spections to herself.
¡°We don¡¯t need to concern ourselves with these things. We sell, he buys, and as long as it is fair and reasonable, that is enough,¡± she said.
Yun Qian smiled and scratched his head, ¡°You¡¯re right; I¡¯m overthinking it.¡±

Luo Jiner, seeing herself ignored, clenched her hand into a fist at her side and then said softly, ¡°Don¡¯t think that just because you¡¯ve read a few medical books you dare to treat illnesses. In the past, you were just a blind cat bumping into a dead mouse. What you¡¯re doing is clearly joking with thesemon people¡¯s lives! You better stop.¡±
This act of hers, like a white lotus, made Shao He¡¯s stomach churn, and the feeling of nausea made her want to vomit.
¡°What is the meaning of this youngdy looking for trouble with me every other day? I haven¡¯t stolen your husband, nor have I broken up your family. What deep hatred do we have between us that you behave like this toward me?¡± Shao He sarcastically responded without stopping the movements in her hands.
¡°You¡¡±
Luo Jiner was choked with anger, not expecting her to be so articte, and she couldn¡¯t find a reason to refute.
Seeing her unwilling to leave, Shao He couldn¡¯t be bothered to waste more words and continued with her actions.
¡°I¡¯m only afraid that you¡¯ll stray down the wrong path, and even more afraid that you¡¯ll harm others by relying on the few medical books you¡¯ve read,¡± Luo Jiner said, pretending to be kind-hearted and lovely.
Her words caught Shao He¡¯s attention. She finished applying ointment to thest red bump on Qiu Zhu¡¯s face, walked to the side to wash her hands with clean water, took out a handkerchief to dry her hands, and then returned to sit down in front of the consultation desk.
¡°My affairs are none of your concern, but your affairs do concern me. The problem of your cold uterus and infertility can only be treated by me,¡± Shao He said confidently with a smug curl of her lips.
From thest pulse diagnosis, she knew that Luo Jiner¡¯s cold uterus was extremely severe, and if it continued to go untreated, it was likely that no one would be able to heal her, and she might never be able to bear children in her lifetime.
And here, a woman who could not bear children lived a life more painful than death.
When Luo Jiner heard her mention her illness, her heart skipped a beat, but she soon recovered, took out an embroidered handkerchief, and pretended to look pitiful.
¡°You are a Doctor, how can you spread such rumors about an unmarried girl like me!¡±
Seeing her act like this, Shao He¡¯s eyes shed with contempt. She had stolen someone else¡¯s husband and had the nerve to act here as if she was an unmarried youngdy. Shao He was truly at a loss for words.
¡°Your condition is very severe, and if you keep dragging it out, there will definitely be a risk to your life. Don¡¯t say I didn¡¯t warn you,¡± Shao He kindly reminded her, speaking as a Doctor.
Of course, she wasn¡¯t entirely kind-hearted because she knew Luo Jiner would never let her treat the illness.
Luo Jiner was about to retort when the red bumps on Qiu Zhu¡¯s face began to fade, restoring her fairplexion.
¡°Look, it¡¯s better, it¡¯s better, the red bumps on her face have all disappeared!¡±
¡°It¡¯s truly miraculous!¡±
¡°In such a short time, she¡¯s cured her allergic symptoms!¡±
The crowd around the consultation area couldn¡¯t help but exim!
Some even came forward to ask, ¡°Can urticaria be treated?¡±
¡°Can other allergic symptoms be treated?¡±
¡°How much Silver is this ointment? Do you have any more?¡±
The onlookers couldn¡¯t help but rush in to inquire, pushing Luo Jiner to the corner and even stepping on her several times.
Luo Jiner clenched her fists tightly, her nails digging into her flesh, shaking with rage.
Shao He saw the crowd jostling and took the opportunity to promote her frostbite ointment.
Qiu Zhu¡¯s face was pale, seeing Luo Jiner scared and shivering in the corner, unsure of what to do, she could only follow Luo Jiner out of the medical clinic.
Shao He, seeing the frostbite ointment sold out, felt joy in her heart. She was about to get up and go check on the children when Pei Huaian was pushed in.
When he saw the jade hairpin on Shao He¡¯s head, his heart leaped, and a thrill shed through his eyes.
But recalling the reason for his visit, his expression became serious as he asked, ¡°Can you treat old, chronic injuries?¡±
¡°That depends on what the condition is; not all injuries are within my ability to treat,¡± Shao He answered with great responsibility.
After all, she was a Doctor, not a deity.
Pei Huaian then roughly described the condition of the injured person.
Upon hearing this, Shao He¡¯s face showed difficulty, ¡°The condition you¡¯re describing sounds like the patient¡¯s muscles below the calf are all necrotic. If that¡¯s the case, there is no chance of healing.¡±
There was no possibility of treatment for such a condition; once the muscle tissue waspletely necrotic, that leg was essentially useless.
Pei Huaian had anticipated such an oue, holding only a sliver of hope.
Seeing the disappointment in his eyes, Shao He hesitated for a moment before saying, ¡°There¡¯s one more method, fitting a prosthetic limb.¡±
This solution might be hard for many people here to ept and could easily subject them to ridicule.
Pei Huaian heard this term for the first time and was somewhat puzzled by it.
¡°What is fitting a prosthetic limb?¡±
¡°It means cutting off his own leg and fitting him with a pair of artificial legs,¡± Shao He exined simply.
Upon hearing this, Pei Huaian¡¯s eyes filled with fright, never before having heard of such a treatment method.

¡°Is this procedure somewhat dangerous? Exactly how is the treatment conducted?¡± Pei Huaian believed in her medical skills, but such a method was indeed hard to ept.
¡°To attach the prosthetic legs, I must first amputate his legs, then find a pair of manufactured prosthetic legs to install on his amputated limbs. Once fitted, he will be able to function like a normal person.¡±
Pei Huaian thought for a moment and said, ¡°Allow me to think it over.¡±
This matter was of great importance; he needed to be more cautious.
Shao He knew that this method would be hard to ept here, so she didn¡¯t insist.
¡°Congrattions, I see your frostbite ointment is selling well.¡±
Pei Huaian saw many people holding frostbite ointment as they came out of the medical hall and guessed that it must be selling well.
¡°Thank you.¡±
Shao He, realizing that the batch of frostbite ointment she had ordered was ready, led him to the backyard, opened a bottle of the ointment, and exined how to use it for the best effect.
Pei Huaian moved closer to Shao He, smelling the faint fragrance emanating from her, and could not help but be distracted, staring at her in a daze.
Shao He talked for a long while, then turned her head to see him spacing out and waved her hand in front of his eyes, ¡°Did you remember what I said?¡±
¡°Hmm, I remembered.¡± Pei Huaian quickly regained his senses, then called Ah Mo to move the items away.
Shao He stretched, feeling some difort in her backtely, possibly because she hadn¡¯t properly observed the confinement period after giving birth to Xiao Linzhang.
Even though she had taken many medicines to replenish her health, it was useless. The month that should have been spent on recuperation had been nothing but grueling.
Pei Huaian nced at the locked room door and asked quietly, ¡°How has Xiao Linzhang beentely? Any crying?¡±
¡°No, Xiao Linzhang isn¡¯t like other kids who keep crying; he just sleeps after eating, and even when he wakes up, he rarely cries.¡±
Shao He said this as she walked toward the room.
The moment the door opened, a wave of warm air hit them. Compared to the cold outside, the room was much warmer.
In the inner room, Xiao Linzhang had already awoken, lying in bed, gazing at the canopy above him.
His small hand was by his mouth, making cooing sounds.
Shao He walked over, picked him up, calling softly, ¡°Xiao Linzhang.¡±
The little one seemed to recognize his name and smiled broadly at Shao He.
As Pei Huaian watched his chubby little hand, he couldn¡¯t resist reaching out to touch it, but Xiao Linzhang grabbed hold and wouldn¡¯t let go.
Shao He could only ce the child in his arms, ¡°Xiao Linzhang seldom warms up to others; you are the second one.¡±
@@novelbin@@
¡°The first one was Yun Qian, right?¡± Pei Huaian knew Yun Qian spent more time with Xiao Linzhang and truly loved him, but still, he felt somewhat ufortable.
¡°Yes, but Xiao Linzhang seems to cling to you more. Every time he won¡¯t stop crying, seeing you always makes himugh.¡±
Perhaps the little guy also knew who kept him fed; after all, who cries over the hand that feeds them?
¡°Also, thank you for the cow¡¯s milk you¡¯ve been sending. Xiao Linzhang¡¯s body has gotten a lot stronger and he has gained some weight.¡±
Shao He felt lucky to have met Yun Qian and the man before her. Without them, it would have been difficult for her to survive here with the child.
¡°Don¡¯t mention it. If it weren¡¯t for you, there would be no hope for my leg, and I really do have a connection with this child. This little favor is nothing.¡±
Pei Huaian looked at Xiao Linzhang, whose eyes were fixed on him unblinkingly, and smiled, ¡°He has indeed gained a bit of weight; he¡¯s a fortunate child with more blessings toe.¡±
Shao He watched the child and sighed, ¡°Fortune or not doesn¡¯t matter. I just hope he can grow up safely. I don¡¯t have any other hopes.¡±
She would always remember the first time she saw her child, Xiao Linzhang covered in blood and his feeble breathing had made her think he wouldn¡¯t survive.
Pei Huaian suddenly thought of the smell of medicine in the medical hall, his handsome brows slightly furrowed, then he looked at Shao He.
¡°Linzhang is still young, and the medicinal smell of Anji Hall is too strong, which could affect the child. Are you considering moving somewhere else?¡±
This question was somewhat presumptuous, but Pei Huaian still wanted to probe, and he genuinely had the child¡¯s well-being in mind, nothing more.
Shao He didn¡¯t answer immediately. She didn¡¯t want to stay here causing trouble for Yun Qian, having him help care for the child each time; but she didn¡¯t have much money, not even enough for a hostel, let alone renting a house, but she didn¡¯t voice this.
¡°I think staying here is quite convenient. And the child won¡¯t be affected in the backyard.¡±
Pei Huaian saw her difficulty and didn¡¯t press further.
Chapter 38 - 39 Perhaps Desperate Times Call for Desperate Measures
Chapter 38: Chapter 39 Perhaps Desperate Times Call for Desperate Measures
Inside Marquis Pingnan¡¯s Mansion.
Old Madam Chu listened to theints of the two servants with a dark expression, remaining silent.
Knowing Old Madam Chu¡¯s difficult temperament and her dislike for Luo Jiner, the two servants dared to speak ill of her in front of her.
¡°Old Madam, you aren¡¯t aware, but that Luo Jiner dashes out every day without a thought of treating her infertility and even monopolizes the Marquis¡¯s time,¡± said one of the women, dressed in purple.
Another woman in pink clothes chimed in, ¡°That¡¯s right, Old Madam, and the moment she returns, she demands the Marquis apany her. As soon as the Marquis visits either of us, she immediately feels unwell and won¡¯t rest until she has called the Marquis away.¡±
Old Madam Chu caught the key point and asked, ¡°Out every day?¡±
¡°Yes, she goes out early each morning and doesn¡¯t return until the evening.¡±
Lady Chu turned to the nanny beside her and asked, ¡°Are you aware of this matter?¡±
The nanny respectfully answered, ¡°This servant knows a little. It¡¯s said that Luo Jiner has been visiting a pharmacy.¡±
Old Madam Chu scoffed, ¡°Even the Imperial Physician is helpless; what could a small clinic possibly do to cure her?¡±
@@novelbin@@
¡°Perhaps it is a case of clutching at straws,¡± the nanny replied with a smile.
Old Madam Chu turned to look at the two servants, eyeing their shy attire, rotating her prayer beads as she spoke, ¡°You two make an effort. Whoever among you can give birth to a son, I will support her to be a concubine.¡±
Upon hearing Old Madam¡¯s words, the two women¡¯s spirits were lifted. Being a concubine was different from a servant; a servant was at most somewhat more privileged than a maid, but a concubine was like ady in the mansion.
The curtains parted, and a maid rushed in, bowing as she said, ¡°Old Madam, the Marquis has arrived with Luo Jiner.¡±
Upon hearing this, Old Madam Chu quickly dismissed the two servant girls and took off her head ornaments, lying down on the soft couch. She then stuffed two medicine pills into her mouth, feigning the appearance of someone weak and frail.
When Chu Yu entered the room and saw the Old Madam¡¯s condition, he frowned and asked with concern, ¡°Grandmother, are you ill again?¡±
Old Madam Chu weakly opened her eyes, ¡°I¡¯m fine. It¡¯s just some old ailments. How is Jiner¡¯s illness? What did the doctor say? Can it be cured?¡±
¡°We have yet to find a doctor who can treat her condition. I¡¯m doing my best to search for one.¡±
Seeing her concern for Luo Jiner, Chu Yu couldn¡¯t help feeling guilty.
¡°Oh,¡± Old Madam Chu nodded, a sh of light crossed the bottom of her eyes, then she said, ¡°Why don¡¯t you take my card and ask Imperial Doctor He, who has already retired at home, to take a look at her? Perhaps there¡¯s a slim chance.¡±
¡°Grandmother, your health is already like this; don¡¯t think about others. Just focus on recuperating,¡± Chu Yu said tenderly, looking at Old Madam Chu.
Continuing, he said, ¡°Grandmother, you¡¯ve worked hard over the years and your body isn¡¯t what it used to be. If you were to fall ill, the Chu Family would be in disarray.¡±
Old Madam Chu looked at him, speaking earnestly, ¡°Although I¡¯m old, I¡¯m not so senile yet. You don¡¯t have to worry about me; I know my own body.¡±
Chu Yu was still worried and wanted to stay to tend to Old Madam Chu, but she refused.
¡°I can still bear it. Your most important task now is to find a doctor who can cure Jiner,¡± she said, resisting.
Seeing his grandmother like this, yet still preupied with Jiner¡¯s barrenness, Chu Yu¡¯s guilt deepened.
Just then, Old Madam Chu suddenly began to cough violently. The nanny hurried over to help her up, but Old Madam Chu spat out a mouthful of fresh blood.
¡°Grandmother, call the doctor, quickly call the doctor!¡± Chu Yu strode over, attending to Old Madam Chu, gently patting her back.
Scolding the nanny who still stood by, he said, ¡°What are you waiting for? Go and find a doctor to examine Grandmother immediately.¡±
¡°To answer the Marquis, Old Madam¡¯s condition has already been seen by the doctor. He said it is due to frustration and excessive worry and advised Old Madam not to overthink. He has prescribed several medications,¡± replied the nanny.
On hearing this, Luo Jiner couldn¡¯t help but inwardly ridicule the master-servant duo¡¯s acting skills, thinking the old trickster even resorted to such tactics. Clearly, she aims to use the Marquis¡¯s guilty conscience to ept the two servant girls!
Despite knowing the old woman¡¯s deceit, Jiner still felt obligated to feign filial respect.
¡°I¡¯m sorry, Old Madam, it¡¯s Jiner¡¯s fault, and I¡¯ve caused you concern,¡± she said apologetically.
Old Madam Chu, looking at the teary figure, felt a wave of irritation and waved her hand, saying, ¡°I¡¯m not dead yet. There¡¯s no need for tears. You can cry after I¡¯m gone.¡±
With these words, Luo Jiner was once again at a disadvantage, causing Chu Yu¡¯s expression to shift slightly.
Luo Jiner inwardly sighed at the olddy¡¯s cunning!
¡°Alright, you all may leave. I want to rest properly,¡± said Old Madam Chu, her voice weak yet forceful.

Chapter 39: Chapter 40 Aren¡¯t you losing more than you gain?
Chu Yu originally wanted to stay and take care of her, but Old Madam Chu¡¯s attitude was resolute.
So Chu Yu had no choice but to leave first.
As soon as Chu Yu left, Old Madam Chu immediately sat up from the soft couch, taking the mouthwash handed by the nanny, and then wiped the corner of her mouth with the embroidered handkerchief.
She showed none of her earlier weakness, the vomiting of blood had been caused by the two medicine pills she had swallowed earlier.
The nanny couldn¡¯t help but ask, ¡°Old Madam, why did you give that invitation to the Marquis? What if they really do invite Old Mr. He to treat Luo Jiner¡¯s illness? Wouldn¡¯t you be shooting yourself in the foot?¡±
¡°Let¡¯s not talk about whether they will be able to invite Old Mr. He, even if hees, he may not be able to heal her. In this way, Yuyu will only feel more guilty towards me.¡±
@@novelbin@@
Besides, she didn¡¯t really wish for Luo Jiner to be infertile, so what if she had a child? When the time came, she could take the child beside her to raise.
Old Madam Chu looked at the scenery outside the window, her eyes flickering with uncertainty, wanting only to quickly hold a great-grandson in her arms, no matter who bore the child.
If the woman waspliant, she would stay, if not, the child would stay and the mother would leave.
Back in her room, Luo Jiner poured a cup of tea and ced it in front of Chu Yu.
Looking at the Marquis, who was full of worries, and then at the invitation on the table, she sat next to him and spoke softly, ¡°I¡¯m sorry, Marquis¡ªI have troubled the Old Madam. I have let you down, and I have let the Old Madam down.¡±
Chu Yu, seeing the self-reproachful person, took her into his arms, ¡°It¡¯s not your fault. Didn¡¯t Grandmother give us an invitation? We might as well let Imperial Doctor He take a look at you.¡±
¡°I¡¯m afraid¡ the greater the hope, the greater the disappointment. My illness might never be cured, and I may never be able to bear our children. Without being able to continue your lineage, what meaning is there for me to live?¡±
The more Luo Jiner spoke, the more agitated she became, eventually crying uncontrobly.
¡°Silly girl, what nonsense are you talking about!¡± Chu Yu said, hugging her even tighter, gentlyforting her.
Luo Jiner leaned against Chu Yu¡¯s shoulder, her eyes red, ¡°Marquis, if Jiner cannot bear children, will you despise me?¡±
¡°Of course not!¡± Chu Yu said without hesitation.
¡°Marquis¡¡± Luo Jiner, moved, started to raise her head to say thank you, but Chu Yu sealed her lips with a kiss.
The kiss was deep and lingering.
It wasn¡¯t until their breath became hurried that Chu Yu finally released her, his gaze tender as though it could drip water.
¡°Rest assured. I will never despise you, whether you can bear children or not. If ites to that, we can adopt a child to be raised under your name,¡± Chu Yu said.
Chu Yu¡¯s words made Luo Jiner feel extremely ufortable, and even more panicked inside.
Upon serious consideration, if they were to adopt, it would surely be from a concubine. In the end, Chu Yu would still have another woman.
¡°Alright, thank you, Marquis.¡± Luo Jiner verbally agreed, but she was determined not to let another woman give birth to the heir before her.
How could she allow such a thing to happen!
¡
The cold wind blew piercingly; the weather was turning colder, and the frostbite ointment was selling better and better.
Because of this, Shao He made a hefty sum of silver at the time of profit-sharing, giving her a taste of sess.
¡°I want to develop some medicine for treating colds, which you can just dilute with hot water without the need for decoction. What do you think?¡±
¡°Is there really such a medicine?¡±
Yun Qian stared at her, his mouth agape for a long time.
To know that somemon folks, unwilling to use firewood to decoct medicine, would literally cook themselves to death, such a thing happened frequently among the ordinary families.
If she could really make a medicine for colds that did not require decoction and could simply be taken with hot water, it would naturally be a good thing for the people.
¡°Of course, you¡¯ll see once I¡¯ve made it,¡± Shao He began to calcte which herbs she would include this time.
As the two of them discussed, Pei Huaian walked in¡ªit was his day for medical consultation.
¡°What are you discussing?¡±
Seeing the two engrossed in their conversation, he appropriately interrupted them.
Shao He recalled the masked man ordering a lot of frostbite ointment herest time. He would surely need the medicine for colds this time as well.
So she casually asked, ¡°I¡¯m nning to make some cold medicine that can be taken by mixing it with water instead of decocting it. Would you like to ce an order in advance?¡±
¡°There¡¯s such a medicine?¡± Pei Huaian heard of it for the first time, a medicine for colds that did not require decoction and could be taken with just hot water.
However, if such a medicine really existed, he certainly needed it. It would be greatly useful for him, saving a lot of unnecessary trouble.
With a surprised gaze from Pei Huaian, Shao He nodded; she knew the masked man would definitely need it and was even more certain of her own thoughts.
It was clear that this masked man must be a Great General, and all of these supplies were for the soldiers at the border city.
¡°It will be avable soon. If you need it, you should order ahead of time, or else don¡¯t me me if it¡¯s all sold outter,¡± Shao He said confidently, a mischievous smile spreading on her lips.
Pei Hiaian stared into Shao He¡¯s eyes and noticed a sly sparkle in them, which drew him in deeply.
¡°Alright, regarding the price¡¡±
¡°I¡¯ll naturally offer you the best deal,¡± Shao He interjected.

Chapter 41: Chapter 42: Xiao Linzhang and His Destined Rtionship
¡°Wah, wah, wah¡¡±
Cries of a baby echoed as Aunt Liu, carrying the child, walked in.
¡°Doctor Shao, I don¡¯t know what¡¯s wrong with Xiao Linzhang, he suddenly started crying nonstop, and no matter how I try, I can¡¯t soothe him,¡± Aunt Liu hurried over.
Shao He turned around, took the child, and gently soothed him, ¡°Good boy, don¡¯t cry, don¡¯t cry, you¡¯re the best behaved in Linzhang.¡±
The child, normally obedient, was crying incessantly today, and Pei Huaian, who had been following Shao He, worried that she might slip again, was also anxious about why Xiao Linzhang was crying.
In Huaian¡¯s arms, Xiao Linzhang seemed to notice the person trailing behind and suddenly stopped crying, his big eyes staring at Pei Huaian, who was in the wheelchair.
Shao He noticed the child ceased crying and was staring at something behind her; following his gaze, she found Xiao Linzhang looking at the man in the wheelchair.
No matter how she adjusted her posture, Xiao Linzhang¡¯s gaze remained fixed on the masked man, and he couldn¡¯t stop smiling, drool dripping down.
Aunt Liu, amazed, said, ¡°It seems Xiao Linzhang really likes this young master; he stops crying and fussing as soon as he sees him, and evenughs so happily.¡±
¡°Yes, Xiao Linzhang and he are truly fated,¡± Shao He chuckled softly, seeing the masked man¡¯s yearning gaze, handed the child to him, then crouched down to y with the child together.
¡
The cold wind kept blowing outside the window while Luo Jinery in bed, with Old Mr. He stroking his beard and taking her pulse.
Chu Yu anxiously waited beside her, and as soon as the hands retracted, immediately stepped forward and asked, ¡°Old Mr. He, how is Jiner¡¯s health?¡±
¡°I am incapable, please seek someone more skilled, Marquis.¡±
These words from Old Mr. He made Chu Yu step back two steps.
Luo Jiner likewise pulled back the muslin canopy, clutched the bed desperately, and pleaded, ¡°Old Mr. He, there¡¯s no one in the Capital City with higher medical skills than you. Can¡¯t you think of something else?¡±
¡°s, the girl¡¯s body has been too severely damaged; it¡¯s simply impossible to cure,¡± Old Mr. He stated truthfully.
After speaking, he bowed his back and turned to leave.
Luo Jiner, clutching an embroidered handkerchief, started to cry, and Chu Yu approached tofort her, ¡°Don¡¯t worry, if all else fails, we can adopt a child in your name; raising a child brings greater kindness than giving birth to one.¡±
How could Luo Jiner let such a thing happen? Thinking back on something Shao He once said, a new idea formed in her mind.
Luo Jiner, wearing a veil, arrived in front of the hospital, stared at the sign reading ¡°Miraculous Rejuvenation¡±, took a deep breath, and walked in.
The hospital wasn¡¯t busy, with only a few patients, and Shao He, the physician, was not there; she immediately stepped back and fell behind the crowd, as her visit was intended to secretly seek treatment from Shao He, hence the concealed face.
As she was waiting, the faint sound of a baby¡¯s cry entered her ears; although very light, she heard it, and Luo Jiner, surprised, immediately ran towards the sound.
Just as she was about to enter the backyard, Yun Qian came over in time to stop her.

¡°The backyard is off-limits to outsiders. If you need medical attention, please get in line and wait.¡±
¡°I, I want to see Doctor Shao, please let me go in? I need to speak with her,¡± Luo Jiner said in a pinched voice.
Listening to her, Yun Qian still refused to let her in, ¡°Please wait a moment, Doctor Shao will be out soon.¡±
No matter what excuse Luo Jiner provided, Yun Qian gently refused each one, even when she resorted to saying she needed the restroom, he still declined.
¡°I just heard the sound of a child crying from the back, is it your child?¡± Unable to enter, Luo Jiner tried another approach by asking Yun Qian, eager to know who the child was.
¡°Are you here for medical treatment? If not, please leave,¡± Yun Qian¡¯s feelings of alertness emerged.
With her face concealed under the veiled hat, clearly not wanting to be recognized, and her keen interest in the child, he presumed she was up to no good.
Seeing Yun Qian¡¯s firm stance, Luo Jiner decided to leave.
Upon leaving the hospital, in order to find out exactly whose child it was, she specifically asked around among the local people, and the ultimate answer was the one she least wanted.
It turned out that Shao He¡¯s child had not died; she and her son really had strong life force; such things still hadn¡¯t killed them.
On the way back, thinking of Old Lady Chu¡¯s attitude towards the child, her eyes revealed a bloodthirsty gleam; she could not let the mother and son continue to live.
This was a significant threat to her.

Shao He was seeing a patient and did not notice her arrival.
It was not until Jhiang Yijia sat down and reached out her hand that Shao He realized.
¡°Howe you have time toe today?¡±
She had heard that the Jhiang Family and Fang Family were preparing for a marriage; she should have time toe here.
Jhiang Yijia took out a red invitation and passed it over, with arge ¡°Happiness¡± character written on it.
¡°Congrattions,¡± Shao He said, ncing at the invitation.
¡°I would like you to attend my wedding feast.¡± Jhiang Yijia was sincerely inviting; without Doctor Shao, this marriage would not have been possible. She hoped that Shao He would attend the wedding feast as a friend.
Shao He lowered her eyes, ¡°My status might make it inconvenient to attend. I wish you an early happy marriage and a harmonious life together.¡±
Only then did Jhiang Yijia remember her status and understood why she could not attend.
However, this did not affect the bond between them.
¡°I have been busy embroidering my wedding gown for the past few days and haven¡¯te. The frostbite ointment that the maid bought is very effective; it¡¯s now impossible to buy anymore. Could you let me buy some more through the back door?¡± Jhiang Yijia leaned in, blinking herrge eyes while shaking Shao He¡¯s hand thaty on the table.
Shao He withdrew her hand and was about to answer when Jhiang Yijia immediately looked sullen, as if about to cry, ¡°Could you open the back door, please?¡±
¡°Since you¡¯ve asked, I shall set some aside for you.¡± Shao He picked up her teacup and took a sip, then looked up at the person across from her with a meaningful gaze.
At Shao He¡¯s words, Jhiang Yijia immediately straightened up, her voice excited, ¡°Thank you, thank you so much.¡±
As the two chatted, Jhiang Yijia remembered some news she had heard a few days ago. She leaned on the table and whispered, ¡°I heard that your ointment has reached the Imperial Medical Bureau, and the Imperial Physician is studying it.¡±
Shao He continued to drink her tea calmly.
¡°Aren¡¯t you going to react?¡±
¡°Why should I react?¡± Shao He put down her tea cup, her eyebrows slightly raised.
¡°But¡¡±
¡°The form for the frostbite ointment won¡¯t be easily deciphered by them.¡± Upon hearing this, Shao He slightly squinted her eyes, a faint smile appearing on her lips, and a cold gleam shed in her eyes.
Seeing the confident expression, Jhiang Yijia felt that her concerns were superfluous and couldn¡¯t help but breathe a sigh of relief.
It wasn¡¯t until the sun set in the west that Jhiang Yijia reluctantly left with the frostbite ointment.
As night fell, a carriage came from outside the city.
The carriage finally stopped in front of the clinic, and a man got out and knocked on the door.
¡°Knock knock knock!¡±
The knocking went on for a long time with no one answering the door.
¡°How can there be no one?¡± the man wondered, then frowned, ¡°Could it be that no one is in?¡±
¡°Who is it!¡± The servant boy opened the door and asked, poking his head out.
The man who was about to leave quickly replied, ¡°Is there a doctor in? We have someone injured and are looking for a doctor to dress the wounds.¡±
¡°Everyone has rested,e back tomorrow.¡±
Just as the servant boy was about to close the door, arge hand suddenly pushed the door open forcefully, and several thugs got off the carriage, their bodies smeared with some blood.
¡°What, what are you going to do?¡± the servant boy retreated in fright, his legs trembling because of the smell of blood on them.
One of the thugs pulled out a purse and threw it in front of him, speaking menacingly, ¡°Go get a doctor, and treat us.¡±
The servant boy picked up the purse and weighed it, cursing inwardly, but his face was filled with a smile as he said, ¡°Gentlemen, our doctor has already rested, perhaps you might consider checking somewhere else¡¡±
The servant boy hadn¡¯t finished speaking when he was kicked to the ground by a thug, who then grabbed his cor, pointed at the attendant and shouted angrily, ¡± less nonsense, hurry up and treat us, or I will smash this clinic!¡±
The servant boy, trembling with fear and seeing the murderous look in the man¡¯s eyes, dared not ask more. He quickly stood up and said, ¡°Gentlemen, please wait a moment, I will immediately call someone toe and treat you.¡±
With that, he hurried away.
The thug nced at the servant boy¡¯s retreating figure, gave a signal to the others,
One of them went outside, helping several severely injured thugs into the clinic from the carriage, then whistled to signal the others while another closed the doors and windows before sitting down again.
The servant boy was about to knock on Yun Qian¡¯s door when, just as he raised his hand, the door suddenly opened.
¡°What happened?¡± Yun Qian, dressed in white, stood in the doorway and asked.

¡°Ah, don¡¯t, don¡¯t kill me!¡±

Suddenly, from the backyard came a terrible scream and the cries of a child, Shao He
Shao He¡¯s expression changed drastically, and she rushed toward the backyard.
Upon seeing the dead man in the courtyard, she quickened her pace toward the room where another dead many inside.
Shao He¡¯s legs felt somewhat weak, she suppressed the fear in her heart and approached the bed, seeing the unharmed child she finally felt relieved, hastily picked him up, and gently patted him tofort him.
Yun Qian hurried over, seeing the child was safe, he immediately asked, ¡°What happened here?¡±
Shao He shook her head, indicating that she too did not know what had happened.
Yun Qian went over to examine the men¡¯s wounds and found they had both been killed with a single blow, indicating that the attacker must have been highly skilled in martial arts, quick and decisive, giving them no chance to resist.
Thinking of the thug outside, Shao He couldn¡¯t help but feel suspicious, handed the child to Yun Qian, and took out a dagger hidden under the pillow and went outside.
Yun Qian, afraid that she mighte to harm, followed her out with the child in his arms.
Shao He confronted the thug and demanded harshly, ¡°Who sent you?¡±
Too pained to respond, the thug turned away, only realizing something was wrong when he felt the cold dagger against his neck.
¡°What¡ what are you going to do¡¡±
Shao He, holding the dagger in front of him, said coldly, ¡°The thugs inside are already dead. Are you in league with those two inside? And who sent you?¡±
¡°You, what you¡¯re saying, I don¡¯t understand any of¡ Ah!¡±
Shao He slightly pressed the dagger, causing blood to flow from the thug¡¯s neck as she looked at him with a stern gaze.
¡°I¡¯ll give you one more chance, speak!¡±
Feeling the pain on his neck, the thug knew she was serious and dared not withhold any information, he quickly spilled the truth.
It turned out that they indeed were in cahoots with the ones inside. Someone had offered them a significant sum to kill a child, but these thugs didn¡¯t dare to do it themselves and were just meant to distract the two men.
¡°I was wrong, I won¡¯t dare again, please spare me, please, I beg you.¡± The thug, terrified, felt his legs go weak, forgetting the pain in his arms.

Shao He, her expression cold, taught the thugs a lesson and threw them out.
Yun Qian, seeing the thugs being driven away, came over with the child.
¡°Today I met a woman wearing a veil. She insisted on seeing you for a consultation, and after hearing the child crying, she made many excuses wanting to check the backyard, but I didn¡¯t allow her,¡± Yun Qian found the woman somewhat strange at that time.
Upon hearing this, Shao He spected, ¡°How tall was the woman approximately, what color was her clothing? Did she have any essories on her wrist?¡±
After thinking for a moment, Yun Qian mentioned the woman wore a teal dress and a green jade bracelet on her wrist, and it seemed she also had a scented sachet hanging at her waist, embroidered with the character for ¡®Jiner¡¯.
Hearing his description, Shao He spected, ¡°This person must undoubtedly be Luo Jiner.¡±
¡°Did Anji Hall hire any bodyguards?¡±
Thinking of the two thugs dealt with in the backyard, Shao He asked.
Yun Qian shook his head and said, ¡°Anji Hall is just a regr medical clinic, we¡¯ve never hired any bodyguards.¡±
The two discussed this as they walked toward the backyard, but when they arrived, they found that the bodies of the two thugs were gone, and the bloodstains on the ground had been cleaned up; only a faint smell of blood lingered in the air, confirming that what had happened was real.
The two exchanged looks, both seeing shock in each other¡¯s eyes.
Who were those people, to be so formidable?
Shao He frowned and after a moment of contemtion said, ¡°This matter is getting more and moreplicated.¡±
All of a sudden, the image of a man wearing a mask shed through her mind, but she quickly dismissed the thought.

¡°Moreover, if I fail to heal his leg injury, wouldn¡¯t I have epted so many benefits for nothing? I have to take responsibility.¡± Shao He suppressed the feeling of loss in her heart, constantly finding excuses for herself.
Yun Qian was reassured to hear her say this and did not continue to inquire. He changed the subject, bringing up the Cold Effervescent Powder.
¡°This time, we made a good amount of silver from selling the Cold Effervescent Powder. I¡¯ll give you half of the dividend first.¡±
Yun Qian hadn¡¯t expected that her concoction, which didn¡¯t need to be boiled over fire, would initially meet with disbelief from the people, who thought the medicine was just a ruse to swindle silver.
Later, when a patient took it and experienced an extraordinary effect, feeling much relief from the symptoms the next day, that turned out to be more convincing than all the guarantees they could offer.
Shao He didn¡¯t stand on ceremony with him, as right now she really needed a lot of silver. After receiving the silver, she began considering buying a house.
Living here all the time with her child and maid wasn¡¯t appropriate; after all, gold and silver nests are not as good as one¡¯s own little nest. She couldn¡¯t continue to trouble Yun Qian forever, even renting a house would be an option.
In the following days, Shao He saw a few patients who came for home visits and took the opportunity to look at a few houses, but the prices were beyond her expectations, and she finally could only think about looking some more.
Pei Huaian hadn¡¯t appeared at all during this time, which made her go from initial worry to gradually getting used to his absence.
Just like she had said, her concern for Pei Huaian was because of his illness, perhaps with an additional feeling of friendship.
In a busy life, there wasn¡¯t time to dwell on it too much.
After another half month passed, an unwee guest came to the peaceful clinic, sitting in a chair with an expression full of disdain.
¡°Climbing out from a pile of corpses, reading a few books, and having the audacity to treat people¡ªit really takes luck like yours to randomly run into dead mice like a blind cat.¡±
The person looking for trouble was Liang Weishuang, who had heard from Luo Jiner that Shao He was not dead and also wanted to take this opportunity to enter the Marquis¡¯s Mansion. That¡¯s why she specifically came to cause trouble.
When Shao He recognized her face, she quickly understood from the original owner¡¯s memory that this person had always been infatuated with Chu Yu and guessed that she must have been used by someone else.
And that someone else, if not Luo Jiner, she really couldn¡¯t think of anyone else!
However, in her memory, although Liang Weishuang often teased her, she didn¡¯t harbor any bad intentions and only did many childish things without ever harming her.
¡°Would you like to be that dead mouse so that I, the blind cat, can chance upon you?¡± Shao He asked with a calm expression, her tone very t.
¡°You!¡± Liang Weishuang was left at a loss for words by this retort.
With displeasure, she said, ¡°Don¡¯t be so smug here. If you¡¯re so capable, tell me what illness I have on my body.¡±
@@novelbin@@
¡°Would thedy please extend her hand? I don¡¯t have the skill to diagnose pulses from afar,¡± Shao He replied with a slight lift of her eyebrows.
Liang Weishuang sneered and stretched out her hand, not believing that this woman truly had any skill. She thought she knew all about Shao He¡¯s abilities.
After the diagnosis, Shao He coldly stated, ¡°Thedy should often experience painful menstruation, and you also suffer from nightmares.¡±
When she mentioned these two conditions, Liang Weishuang¡¯s face momentarily showed surprise. She then realized that she had consulted many doctors for her conditions, so it was normal for Shao He to be aware of them.
¡°You¡¯re just repeating what others have told you, thinking you¡¯re so capable,¡± Liang Weishuang retorted.
Seeing this, Shao He did not get angry. Now, with Liang Weishuang brainwashed by Luo Jiner, whatever she said was useless. So why waste words?
She didn¡¯t need to prove her medical skills to anyone. Those who believed would believe, and those who didn¡¯t would not be persuaded by anything she said. It was better to shut those people up with her abilities.
¡°Doctor Shao, are you here? That¡¯s wonderful.¡±
No sooner had she spoken than Lady Jhiang and Jhiang Yijia walked in with generous gifts. The servant boy ced the tray down, which wasden with precious gold, silver, jewelry, as well as silk and brocade.
¡°What is the meaning of this, Lady Jhiang?¡± Seeing their beaming faces, Shao He guessed something good must have happened.
Indeed, the next second, Lady Jhiang said with a smile, ¡°Yijia is pregnant.¡±
¡°Congrattions!¡±
Jhiang Yijia¡¯s cheeks flushed slightly as she said shyly, ¡°Thank you, Doctor Shao.¡±

Chapter 49: Chapter 50 What does this have to do with the scented sachet?
¡°I merely did what a doctor ought to do, but it was your bravery that broke through the psychological defense and gave you the chance to be a mother,¡±
Shao He gave her a slight smile. Although she had good medical skills, if the patient did not consent to treatment, she was helpless.
¡°No matter how you put it, it was you who cured Yijia. It was you who once again gave her the chance for happiness. Therefore, we¡¯ve prepared a modest gift, and I urge Doctor Shao to please ept it.¡± Lady Jhiang sincerely liked Shao He and harbored utmost trust in her medical skills.
@@novelbin@@
This time Shao He did not refuse, the corners of her mouth curving into a pleased smile, ¡°Then I shall partake in a bit of Miss Jhiang¡¯s good fortune.¡±
Lady Jhiang¡¯s visit wasn¡¯t just about presenting gifts, of course. She also wished for Doctor Shao¡¯s help in examining her daughter¡¯s pulse to ensure her safety, as she didn¡¯t trust the medical skills of others anymore.
Shao He naturally did not refuse such a request.
Liang Weishuang came back to her senses from her surprise. The matter concerning Jhiang Yijia had already spread throughout the Capital City, and there had been people who said that Jhiang Yijia had fabricated the story of being cured in order to marry into the Fang Family.
Now it seemed those rumors might have been tainted with falsehood.
While Shao He was examining the pulse, Liang Weishuang took the opportunity to pull Lady Jhiang aside and asked, ¡°Lady Jhiang, I would like to inquire about this Doctor Shao.¡±
Upon mentioning Shao He, Lady Jhiang spoke at length, from her initial disbelief to her ultimate firm trust, animatedly recounting the tale.
Liang Weishuang¡¯s brows were deeply furrowed. From what Lady Jhiang had said, she surmised that she seemed not to be lying.
Turning her head to look at the one examining the pulse, she couldn¡¯t help but secretly specte, ¡°Could it be that she truly possesses medical skills?¡±
Moreover, Lady Jhiang was the wife of the Minister of the Household; it made no sense for her to fabricate such a tale to deceive her.
¡°There¡¯s nothing wrong with your body. The fetus was unstable in the past few months, so you need to be more cautious and also watch your diet.¡±
Shao He took out pen and paper and listed all the foods to be avoided.
Jhiang Yijia epted the list and once again expressed her thanks before departing with Lady Jhiang.
Shao He¡¯s gaze fell on Liang Weishuang. Seeing her wistful and uneasy expression, she asked, ¡°Do you also need treatment?¡±
¡°Yes,¡± Liang Weishuang nodded fervently, like she was pounding garlic.
In the past, she had been against Shao He because she was in love with Chu Yu and was jealous that Shao He became thedy of the Marquis¡¯s Mansion. But now that she had left Marquis Pingnan¡¯s Mansion, there was no longer any need to continue targeting her.
¡°Dysmenorrhea requires proper treatment, which cannot be rushed. As for your nightmare disorder, it will be resolved in three days without wearing the scented sachet.¡±
Ever since she had walked in, Shao He had sensed a faint fragrance on Liang that shouldn¡¯t have been there. The fragrance seemed to be mixed with a herb that induced nightmares at night.
It wasmonly known as ¡®ghost pressing on the bed¡¯!
Unable to awaken, yet able to clearly hear everything happening around one, the fear caused the heart to beat excessively fast, and in the long term, it could lead to heart disease.
¡°Scented sachet?¡±
Liang Weishuang looked at the scented sachet around her waist and asked in confusion, ¡°What does this have to do with the scented sachet?¡±
¡°It¡¯s very much rted. It is because of the fragrance from the sachet that you suffer from the nightmare disorder. The scented sachet has been tampered with.¡±
She might not understand the convoluted dealings of the imperial court and noble houses, but she was very familiar with such methods. They were all part of the original host¡¯s experiences.
There were even instances where women were made to wear musk to prevent pregnancy. But it was strange, why would someone want Liang Weishuang tormented by nightmares?
If someone wished to harm her, they could simply add other slow-acting poisons to the sachet. Why cause her to live in fear?
¡°This was a gift from an elder in the family,¡± Liang Weishuang said, clutching the sachet. ¡°Could it be that you¡¯re mistaken?¡±
Shao He was in no hurry to convince her, but simply replied lightly, ¡°Try it and see. After you take off the sachet, will you still be gued by nightmares? Won¡¯t that make it clear?¡±
Liang Weishuang nodded and departed, figuring it couldn¡¯t hurt to try.
News of Jhiang Yijia¡¯s pregnancy spread quickly through the Capital City, and Old Madam Fang had even specially invited the Imperial Physician to check her pulse for peace.
This immediately dispelled the previous rumors in the Capital City. It turned out that Jhiang Yijia¡¯s health had indeed been restored, and the people of the Capital City became intrigued by the female doctor who had treated her. It seemed this female doctor indeed had some skill.
This news, of course, also reached Marquis Pingnan¡¯s Mansion.

Old Madam Chu was trimming branches when she heard the news from the nanny. Her hand trimming the branches paused, ¡°Is the news reliable?¡±
¡°Absolutely reliable. Someone saw the Imperial Physician enter the Fang residence. It seems that the small clinic¡¯s female doctor really has some skill,¡± said the nanny.
Old Madam put down her scissors and took a cloth from the nanny to wipe her fingers, the surprise in her eyes not yet subsided.
¡°This Capital City really is full of crouching tigers and hidden dragons, even a small workshop houses such an impressive female doctor.¡±
Chapter 50 - 51: Do You Really Think I鈥檓 Stupid?
Chapter 50: Chapter 51: Do You Really Think I¡¯m Stupid?
The nanny handed over a cup of tea, ¡°No wonder Luo Jiner goes to the clinic every day, she must be seeking treatment from the female doctor.¡±
¡°Ha, I had thought she would behave and having a child wouldn¡¯t matter, I could simply raise the child myself, but now it seems anyone can bear Yuyu¡¯s offspring, except for her.¡±
Previously, Old Madam Chu had thought that as long as she could embrace a great-grandchild, it didn¡¯t matter who the mother was.
But in the past few days, Luo Jiner had clung to Chu Yu daily, not allowing him to visit other concubines and even using the excuse of feeling unwell to have Chu Yu stay by her side, all of which were sly tricks that deepened Old Madam Chu¡¯s prejudice against her.
¡°The old servant had said before, Luo Jiner is not a straightforward person, and she even deliberately prevents the Marquis from visiting Old Madam, clearly provoking you.¡±
Old Madam Chu was well aware of Luo Jiner¡¯s schemes, but she had turned a blind eye, letting her be arrogant for a few days. After all, Yuyu would eventually tire of her if she couldn¡¯t bear children.
A thought about the female doctor sprang to mind, causing her to frown and say, ¡°If that female doctor really can cure Luo Jiner, what then?¡±
@@novelbin@@
The nanny, astute in thought, immediately guessed what Old Madam Chu was worried about and quickly replied, ¡°If that is the case, we indeed need to be wary of that female doctor. However, in my opinion, we can have the female doctor treat Old Madam¡¯s headaches. Then subtly suggest to her not to cure Luo Jiner¡¯s infertility. Wouldn¡¯t that be the best of both worlds?¡±
Old Madam Chu revealed a smile, finished the tea in her hand, and rose to her feet, saying, ¡°Indeed, you truly understand my heart.¡±
The nanny helped Old Madam Chu up, smiling as she replied, ¡°Old Madam¡¯s praise honors me; it¡¯s my privilege to relieve you of worries.¡±
In the medical hall, Shao He was unaware that her reputation had already spread throughout the Capital City; during her moments of leisure, she rxed back in her chair.
She held a medical book in her hand, flipping through it page by page, asionally reaching out to y with Xiao Linzhang lying in the cradle.
¡°Wu wu, wa wa.¡± Xiao Linzhang kicked and waved excitedly, bubbles forming at his mouth, looking extremely adorable.
¡°Doctor Shao, Doctor Shao.¡±
The calm atmosphere was once again disrupted, as the servant boy ran over in a panic, gasping, ¡°Doctor Shao, there¡¯s a problem with the herbs being prepared in the backyard.¡±
Doctor Yun was not in the shop today as he had gone out to purchase herbs, otherwise he would not havee to call Doctor Shao.
Shao He looked up at the servant boy, her expression somber, ¡°What¡¯s the problem?¡±
The servant boy hurriedly answered, ¡°You bettere and see.¡±
Shao He asked Aunt Liu, Qing Shan, and Qingxia to take good care of Xiao Linzhang and to watch over the medical hall. If patients arrived, they should wait a moment.
She followed the servant boy to the backyard.
Just after Shao He had left, Old Madam Chu entered the medical hall with the nanny, and upon entering, they began looking around.
Aunt Liu, holding the child, came forward and asked, ¡°Are you here for a consultation or to get medicine?¡±
Old Madam Chu did not speak; her nanny immediately smiled and asked, ¡°We heard there is a skilled female doctor here. Mydy has some headaches and would like to have her take a look, if she could cure it. Do you know where she might be?¡±
¡°If you are here for a consultation, I¡¯m afraid you¡¯ll have to wait a moment, as Doctor Shao just went to the backyard,¡± Aunt Liu exined, holding the child.
Seeing the child in her arms, Old Madam Chu felt an uncanny resemnce to Chu Yu as a child and walked over unconsciously.
¡°How old is this child?¡± Old Madam Chu asked, touching his frail little hand, her heart warming.
Aunt Liu smiled and replied, ¡°Xiao Linzhang is just over two months old.¡±
Hearing that the child was just over two months old, she thought again of the child who had died; if that child were still alive, he would also be about two months old.
The nanny noticed Old Madam Chu¡¯s sadness and couldn¡¯t help advising, ¡°Old Madam, don¡¯t be too worried; with your health, it¡¯s not good to overthink.¡±
Old Madam Chu nodded, her gaze returning to the child. She reached out her hands to y with him and softly said to Aunt Liu, ¡°Can I hold him?¡±
Aunt Liu looked uneasy, afraid that the person before her might harm Xiao Linzhang.
¡°Aunt Liu, is there a patient for a consultation?¡± Shao He came out while speaking, rolling up her sleeves with the smell of herbs still on her.
Old Madam Chu and the nanny both looked up to see who it was, their eyes showing a hint of panic.
¡°Ma¡¯am?¡± The nanny finally found her voice, hardly believing what she was seeing.
¡°But weren¡¯t the madam and the Young Marquis already dead? How could they still be standing here?¡±
After seeing who was approaching, Shao He¡¯s expression slightly changed, but she quickly regained herposure and coolly said, ¡°Are you here for a medical consultation? What¡¯s troubling you?¡±
Old Madam Chu, clenching her teeth and regaining herposure from the shock, looked back at the child in Aunt Liu¡¯s arms and immediately guessed that the child must be Chu Yu¡¯s.
¡°Since you¡¯re still alive, why didn¡¯t you bring the child back to Marquis Pingnan¡¯s Mansion, instead of making him suffer out here?¡±
Old Madam Chu had not expected that the great-grandchild she longed for would appear so suddenly before her¡ªher heart surged with both excitement and anger.
¡°Perhaps this Old Madam is mistaken, I don¡¯t know you,¡± Shao He calmly walked over, meeting Old Madam¡¯s gaze fearlessly.
¡°Even if you turned to ash, I would still recognize you. Come with me with the child,¡± Old Madam Chu said as she moved forward to take the child, but Aunt Liu quickly dodged.
Shao He stepped in front of her, a cold smile curving at her lips, ¡°Whatever you say, I don¡¯t understand a word. If you¡¯re not here for a medical consultation, please leave.¡±
Old Madam was not as easily fooled as Luo Jiner; she didn¡¯t believe a word Shao He said.
¡°You think I¡¯m a fool?¡± Old Madam Chu red at her.

Yun Qian, seeing this, knew her mind was set and eventually proposed, ¡°If you don¡¯t have enough money to buy the house, you can borrow from me.¡±
¡°Thank you,¡± Shao He said, before leaving.
The next morning, Shao He followed a broker to see the house. They arrived at apact two-entry residence. Though small, the residence had rockeries, a pavilion, a gallery, a garden, and a pond¡ªit was small but had it all.
¡°Miss, you are lucky. It¡¯s rare toe upon such a nice estate. Plus, there¡¯s a bamboo grove at the back where you can rx and keep cool during summer,¡± the broker praisedvishly.
Shao He took a look around, and although the broker¡¯s description was somewhat exaggerated, the house was indeed nice.
¡°I wonder about the price¡¡±
The broker stretched out one finger, grinning, ¡°One hundred taels of silver.¡±
¡°That cheap?¡± Shao He¡¯s eyes widened.
@@novelbin@@
A typical two-entry residence, even if not renovated, would cost at least one hundred and fifty taels.
Plus, with a garden at the front and a bamboo grove at the back, living here would definitely befortable!
¡°Miss, don¡¯t scorn it for being cheap. Look at this house¡¯s great location, the spacious area, and the quiet surroundings¡ªit¡¯s a steal at one hundred taels,¡± the broker exined.
Qingxia chimed in, ¡°Yes, Miss, and the location is secluded, rarely visited by others.¡±
¡°Exactly, Miss, it¡¯s hard to find such a nice estate at this price in the Capital City. It would be a pity to miss it,¡± Qing Shan added.
Shao He nodded in agreement. It was indeed not easy to find such a great estate at this price in the Capital City, but she couldn¡¯t help being suspicious, ¡°With such a low price, won¡¯t there be any disputester on?¡±
¡°Miss, don¡¯t worry. This estate is absolutely clean. There won¡¯t be any disputes. The owner wants to move to Jiangnan for business, which is why he¡¯s selling it urgently. Otherwise, it wouldn¡¯t be possible to buy at this price. You¡¯re just lucky,¡± the broker quickly exined.
Shao He weighed the silver in her hand, having only eighty taels. It seemed she would have to borrow more from Yun Qian.
¡°I¡¯ll buy this estate, but I need you to find me a cook, preferably one who can prepare children¡¯s meals.¡±
¡°That¡¯s no problem. I¡¯ll look for one as soon as I get back,¡± the broker said, relieved that the deal was done.
Shao He asked her to apany her to the clinic to retrieve the silver and then exchanged the silver for the house deed.
That evening, Shao He moved in with her two maids.
The house was very clean, as if every room had just been cleaned.
Shao He didn¡¯t think much of it, attributing it to the former owner¡¯s cleanliness and not delving any deeper.
The next morning, Shao He got up early to wash up. Qingxia went out to buy some breakfast, and Qing Shan took care of Xiao Linzhang.
After breakfast, Shao He went to the clinic, entering from the side door into the backyard.
Yun Qian was pacing back and forth in the backyard. When he saw Shao Heing, he immediately went to greet her.
¡°Chu Yu came today, and he seemed unhappy.¡±
¡°I have my sense of proportion. If it affects Anji Hall, I will leave on my own,¡± Shao He didn¡¯t want to implicate others. Yun Qian had already gone beyond duty by sheltering her so far.
She couldn¡¯t let others confront Marquis Pingnan¡¯s Mansion for her sake, especially since Yun Qian¡¯s small clinic wasn¡¯t powerful enough topete with Marquis Pingnan¡¯s Mansion.
Yun Qian quickly waved his hands to exin, ¡°No, no, you misunderstood me. I¡¯m afraid Chu Yu might harm you. Why not rest for a day?¡±
¡°Even if I rest today, he wille again tomorrow. We¡¯re bound to meet sooner orter. What¡¯s the use of hiding? It¡¯s better to face it openly.¡±
Having said that, Shao He walked towards the front hall and sat down at the consultation desk.
Old Madam Chu¡¯s face was gloomy, and her eyes were sharply fixed on her. Chu Yu stood to the right of Old Madam Chu.
Seeing Shao He approach, a sh of sharpness crossed his eyes, but he suppressed it.
He hadn¡¯t expected this woman to actually still be alive!
He couldn¡¯t believe his grandmother¡¯s words yesterday but, seeing her today, his hand at his side slowly clenched into a fist.
Old Madam saw the long queue of people and came to the front, ¡°My head feels a bit ufortable; I would like to ask this female doctor to take a look.¡±
¡°Old Madam, please wait. Don¡¯t you see there are so many patients ahead?¡±
Shao He gestured for the patient in front to extend their hand, clearly intending not to continue dealing with Old Madam Chu.
After diagnosing, Shao He mentioned the illness and prescribed a medicine for the patient to go pick up.

¡°Heh, can¡¯t help it, who lets them have an imperialmand? Ordinary folks like us dare not provoke them.¡± Shao He¡¯s tone was rather helpless, but her words were clearly fanning the mes, guiding public opinion, pressuring Old Madam Chu.
Fearing the incident would tarnish the reputation of Marquis Pingnan¡¯s Mansion, Old Madam Chu reluctantly got up and went to the back of the line.
There were many patients that day, and it wasn¡¯t until almost noon that it was Old Madam Chu¡¯s turn. She sat down and went straight to the point, ¡°Where¡¯s my grandson?¡±
¡°Mass Burial Mound.¡± Shao He¡¯s response was simple and clear.
¡°You¡¯re talking nonsense!¡± Old Madam Chu red at her angrily.
¡°Whether it¡¯s nonsense or not, the Old Madam can just ask the Marquis, why waste your breath here with me?¡± Shao He said with a coldugh.
The Old Madam¡¯s chest heaved with suppressed rage. Just as she was about to m the table in anger, Shao He said calmly, ¡°I would advise the Old Madam to think thrice before acting. If you happen to run into Master Yan, it might be tough to exin yourself.¡±
After hearing this, the Old Madam pressed down her raging fury and forced a stiff smile, trying to reason with her, ¡°Your current situation is not good, and having the child with you is all harm and no benefit. Why not let me take the child back to raise? You can see him whenever you want.¡±
¡°No need.¡± Shao He¡¯s rejection was cold; no one would take her child away from her.
¡°How can you bear to watch such a small child suffer with you? If you are willing to give the child to the Marquis¡¯s Mansion, I guarantee you won¡¯t have to worry about food or clothing, and you can continue to see patients here if you like,¡± Old Madam Chu continued to persuade gently.
Shao He¡¯s coldness deepened at her lips. Old Madam Chu probably didn¡¯t know that it was her precious grandson who had personally dispatched her and her child to the Mass Burial Mound, never intending for them to live.
¡°I¡¯d rather the child suffer with me than hand him over to you!¡±
Old Madam Chu¡¯s eyes turned sinister, and she lowered her voice to threaten, ¡°I have many ways to kill you and Anji Hall. Think carefully about the consequences before you refuse!¡±
Shao He fearlessly met her sinister gaze, ¡°If the Old Madam doesn¡¯t wish to see a doctor, please leave. As for the child, you need not worry about him. His father was a Schr and he¡¯s already dead!¡±
Seeing Shao He so defiant, Old Madam Chu¡¯s repressed anger finally erupted.
¡°You worthless wretch, don¡¯t push your luck, thinking that just because you have Master Yan¡¯s protection, you¡¯ll be safe. Look at yourself and what your station is.¡±
¡°If my great-grandson stays with a shameless woman like you, he will never be able to lift his head again!¡±
¡°Shao He, oh Shao He, how could you stoop to such filthy acts, lingering among all sorts of men every day?¡±
¡°A woman like you is a disgrace to our Marquis Pingnan¡¯s Mansion, you¡¯vepletely lost our face!¡±
Old Madam Chu pointed at Shao He, spittle flying, her harsh words cursing her vehemently, with every ugly and foul slur spewing from her mouth.
After speaking, she reached out to grab Shao He¡¯spel, but Shao He agilely dodged her grab.
Old Madam Chu almost fell from that missed grab and, infuriated, steadied herself before ring at Shao He and demanding, ¡°What kind of attitude is this? Dare to treat me like this, are you trying to turn the world upside down?¡±
¡°I¡¯m telling you, you won¡¯t get away this time!¡±
Shao He let out a coldugh, ¡°Since you¡¯vee today, I might as well tell you clearly, you¡¯re not wee here!¡±
Old Madam Chu burst into a scornfulugh, ¡°Hehe¡ good, very good, I¡¯ve never seen such an insolent and arrogant wild girl who dares to defy my words.¡±
Shao He raised an eyebrow and scoffed with a mock smile, ¡°And who are you exactly that I should respect you?¡±
Old Madam Chu trembled with fury, ¡°Indeed, you¡¯ve grown audacious, not even having regard for your elder like me. You¡¯re quite fierce!¡±
Shao He¡¯s eyes narrowed slightly as she coldly regarded Old Madam Chu.
¡°Old Madam, please leave immediately, otherwise, I won¡¯t hesitate to show you out!¡±
Shao He¡¯s tone was very strong and icy, even carrying a hint of danger.
Stunned by Shao He¡¯s words, Old Madam Chu suddenly burst into loudughter after a moment.
¡°Haha¡¡±
Then, with her handkerchief covering her mouth, Old Madam Chuughed and gasped, ¡°Show me out?¡±

Just as the atmosphere became somewhat tense, a cry for help resounded from outside the door.

¡°Save me, is there a Doctor who can save someone?¡± A few women, carrying a nanny, entered the medical hall, calling out as they walked.
The medical hall, which had been somewhat noisy, instantly quieted down.
Shao He immediately stood up and approached the nanny who was being carried over.
The nannyy on the ground, her body curled up, her hands tightly clenched into fists covering her lower abdomen, her lips were chapped, and her face showed an expression of pain, her features were distorted and gruesome, with eyes full of fear and helplessness.
Shao He frowned deeply and quickly asked, ¡°Nanny, where do you feel ufortable?¡±
The woman carrying the nanny hurriedly responded, ¡°Nanny Zhang suddenly had unbearable abdominal pain, lying on the ground wailing. We heard her and carried her over.¡±
Shao He nodded, and after asking, asked her to lie t, then pressed on the painful area.
¡°Hiss!¡± As she did so, Nanny Zhang sharply inhaled a breath of cold air, her forehead covered with fine beads of sweat, herplexion turning even paler.
¡°This is appendicitis, she needs surgery. Are you willing to ept this?¡± Shao He looked up and asked the women.
¡°This¡¡± The women hesitated to answer, one of them said, ¡°Nanny Zhang used to work in a wealthy household, but after the family moved away to conduct business, Nanny Zhang has been living alone, without children or rtives; we dare not make this decision.¡±
Such matters were not something they dared to agree upon, fearing the responsibility should anything go wrong.
Jiner took the opportunity to disparage, ¡°I¡¯ve never heard of anyone diagnosing without taking a pulse or knowing what appendicitis even is. Howe I¡¯ve never heard of it? Sister¡ Doctor Shao should avoid recklessly treating people, the Marquis and Master Yan are here, and if anything real happens, you won¡¯t escape the me.¡±
¡°If you don¡¯t understand, then don¡¯t speak, as if you¡¯re afraid others won¡¯t know how ignorant you are,¡± Shao He slightly squinted her eyes, her gaze toward Jiner turned colder.
¡°You¡¡± A surge of anger rose from the bottom of Jiner¡¯s heart.
Shao He¡¯s blunt words had hit the nail on the head, enraging her deeply.
Shao He continued to exin, ¡°Appendicitis is aplication caused by the fragmentation, discement, or damage of the intestinal viscera and gastric mucosa.¡±
¡°It can be categorized into acute appendicitis, chronic appendicitis, chronic pancreatitis, etc. Typically, appendicitis is apanied by general body pain or severe coughing, nausea, vomiting, among other symptoms. If not treated promptly, it can pose serious risks, and this nanny must undergo an appendectomy.¡±
Jiner gritted her teeth; she didn¡¯t care whether this olddy had appendicitis or not, the point was just to prevent Shao He from seeding.
With that thought, she righteously rebuked, ¡°Nonsense!¡±
¡°Oh? Is that so? Then please, Miss Luo, what do you think I got wrong?¡± Shao He looked at her with a mocking smile.
¡°I¡¯m not a Doctor, how would I know what you got wrong?¡± Jiner¡¯s cheeks reddened, pletely clueless about medical matters, simply not wanting Shao He to be toocent.
¡°Since that¡¯s the case, why do you obstruct my treatment?¡± Shao He raised an eyebrow in rebuttal.
¡°You¡¡± Jiner was at a loss for words.
¡°I am willing,¡± Nanny Zhang said weakly.
All eyes turned to her as Nanny Zhang endured the pain in her abdomen and gritted her teeth, ¡°I am willing to let Doctor Shao perform the surgery. I trust her¡¡±
Shao He called the servant boy over, instructing him to lead the few women to carry Nanny Zhang to the operating room. It was a specially designated ce for surgeries she and Yun Qian had set up, restricted to everyone except for her, Yun Qian, and the patient.
¡°Cutting open the belly is clearly witchcraft, not a doctor curing illness,¡± Jiner scoffed.
Chu Yu also chimed in, ¡°Exactly, I see she clearly doesn¡¯t have medical skills, but is using ck magic to harm people!¡±
Shao He nced at the two, retorting angrily, ¡°I¡¯m not acquainted with either of you. If you don¡¯t want treatment, please leave.¡±
Chu Yu watched as she passed by, feeling that she was very different from before, ¡°I need to oversee your treatment of the patient, to see how you treat them.¡±
Yun Qian stepped forward to stop him, ¡°Doctor Shao cannot be disturbed during surgery, as it will interfere with her treating the patient.¡±
Behind them, the crowd was buzzing even more, all discussing whether one could survive after being cut open.
Shao He arrived in the prepared side room, which had been converted into a small operating room. She changed into sterile attire, put on a mask, and prepared surgical tools, sitting in front of the operating table.
Using the YS system, she focused her mind, mentally summoning the necessary equipment, anesthetics, and surgical supplies, though this time, the need for a minimally invasiveparoscope required more mental efforts than usual, beads of sweat quietly appearing on her forehead.
Only when the required instruments appeared did she slowly open her eyes and called toward the door, ¡°Yun Qian,e and assist me.¡±

Chapter 58: Chapter 59: This Marquis Will Never Spare You
Outside the door, Yun Qian turned and entered the room. Chu Yu wanted to follow, but Yan Ze stopped him.
¡°Marquis, there¡¯s no need to be anxious. Let¡¯s just wait here patiently,¡± Yan Ze suggested.
Chu Yu, seeing this, could only stop and fixed his eyes intensely on the tightly shut door.
Inside the room, having undergone a previous surgery, Yun Qian was not much surprised by the sudden appearance of these objects. He had seen them once before and had great faith in Shao He¡¯s medical skills.
Shao He told him to do something, and he did it without any doubt or hesitation.
Shao He looked at the trembling person andforted, ¡°Nanny, don¡¯t be nervous. You won¡¯t feel any pain. It will be like having a dream.¡±
An anesthetic was injected into Nanny, followed by a small incision in the navel area. A Veress needle was inserted through the incision to insufte the abdomen with carbon dioxide. This was followed by a trocar puncture, and finally, paroscopic observation.
After the surgery, they checked for any internal bleeding or organ damage, removed theparoscope, expelled the intra-abdominal gas, removed the trocar, and stitched the abdominal incision.
The surgery was very sessful. Yun Qian, watching, was overwhelmingly excited and somewhat doubted whether all this had really happened.
Shao Hey weakly on the table. She really did not have any strength left now.
¡°Are you okay?¡± Yun Qian asked worriedly.
¡°It¡¯s nothing, just a bit dizzy,¡± Shao He knew this was due to her use of the YS system, which, consuming a lot of mental energy, caused dizziness and blurred vision. She would be fine after some rest.
The crowd had been anxiously waiting outside the door until Shao He pushed open the door and stepped out.
All eyes immediately turned towards her, even Yan Ze couldn¡¯t help but look over.
¡°The surgery was very sessful, and Nanny Zhang will be awake in half an hour,¡± she said softly.
The people heard her clearly and cheers erupted.
¡°That¡¯s great! I always said Doctor Shao had superb medical skills. If she said it could be done, it could be done!¡±
¡°Exactly, Doctor Shao¡¯s medical skills are truly incredible.¡±
Luo Jiner, unwilling to see Shao He praised so highly, bit her lower lip and said softly, ¡°The person hasn¡¯t even woken up yet. Why the hurry? Is it just because you say she¡¯s fine that she¡¯s fine?¡±
Shao He couldn¡¯t be bothered to argue with her; she needed to rest properly now.
After a short while, Nanny Zhang was wheeled out of the room to be transferred to another room.
Seeing Nanny Zhang awake, everyone was even more convinced of Shao He¡¯s unparalleled medical skills.
Luo Jiner could not believe that someone could survive after having their abdomen cut open, but the truth was right in front of her eyes, forcing her to acknowledge it.
¡°This, this must be Doctor Yun¡¯s doing. Otherwise, why would Shao He have called him inside?¡± Luo Jiner reluctantly let the credit go to Shao He, but her words were met with disbelief.
Old Madam Chu pondered for a moment and then sat down, reaching out her hand.
¡°I¡¯ve had a headache for ten years, do you have a way to cure it?¡±
She had one goal in mind, to test whether Shao He really knew medical science.
Old Madam Chu¡¯s little trick, how could Shao He not understand? She reached out and took her pulse, then withdrew her hand shortly after.
¡°Old Madam, you often suffer from back pain, dizziness, swelling headaches, difficulty falling asleep, frequent dreams, easy awakening, daytime sleepiness, heart palpitations, chest tightness, ringing in the ears, right?¡±
Old Madam Chu¡¯s face changed slightly, indeed, her condition was as described.
Seeing her unusual expression, Shao He continued, ¡°Old Madam¡¯s condition is not severe but tricky, and needs to be cooperated with adjustment.¡±
¡°You mean¡¡± Old Madam Chu¡¯s eyes twinkled with hope.
Shao He nodded, ¡°What I mean is¡¡±
¡°Shao He, you¡¯re talking nonsense! Who knows if what you are saying is true? I think you don¡¯t know how to save anyone at all, your so-called medical skills are just a farce to draw public attention,¡± Luo Jiner couldn¡¯t hold back anymore and furiously pointed at Shao He¡¯s nose, scolding her.
Seeing her act like a shrew, the crowd frowned and shook their heads.
Shao He simply ignored her. Why bother with a barking dog?
¡°Old Madam, if you wish not to use my prescription, feel free to seek someone more capable.¡±
¡°Give me your prescription,¡± Old Madam Chu took a deep breath and asked calmly.
Shao He¡¯s lips curled slightly, and she took out the paper and pen she had prepared beforehand to write the prescription.
Chu Yu took the prescription to get the medicine. When he heard it cost twenty taels of silver, he was so angry that he almost tore the prescription in his hand and red ferociously at Shao He as if he wanted to devour her.
¡°Is this medical hall a ck shop? Why is the medicine so expensive?¡±
Shao He put on an innocent face and spread her hands, ¡°Can¡¯t help it, these are all brain-nourishing medicines. How can they not be expensive? Besides, isn¡¯t it hard to raise you to be this old? Her brain¡¯s probably exhausted.¡±
¡°You!¡±
¡°Oh, I didn¡¯t say Old Madam has no brain, I just meant that she¡¯s too hardworking and uses her brain too much,¡± Shao He hastily added, trying to cover up.
The crowd burst intoughter.

Chu Yu, seething with anger, threatened Shao He fiercely, ¡°Remember this, Marquis will never let you off.¡±
¡°I await your pleasure.¡±
¡°Hmph!¡± With that, Chu Yu angrily left.
Luo Jiner carefully followed behind, whispering, ¡°Marquis, perhaps we should let the Imperial Physician check the prescription before administering it to Old Madam, just to avoid any mishaps.¡±
Chapter 59 - 60: Delivered by Young Master Pei
Chapter 59: Chapter 60: Delivered by Young Master Pei
Chu Yu nced at her and, finding her words reasonable, had someone send the prescription to the Imperial Medical Bureau for examination.
Yan Ze stepped forward, with a smile, said, ¡°Doctor Shao truly is formidable. Even Old Madame Chu from the Marquis Pingnan¡¯s Mansion couldn¡¯t gain an advantage over you.¡±
He was bing more and more curious about this female doctor. Why was the Marquis Pingnan¡¯s Mansion so insistent on keeping her? What kind of involvement was there?
¡°Master Yan tters me. I simply treated others as they treated me,¡± Shao He calmly replied.
At this moment, a constable hurried over and whispered a few words in Yan Ze¡¯s ear.
¡°Doctor Shao, I have urgent matters to attend to. Let¡¯s end our conversation here for today and chat another time when I am free,¡± Yan Ze said as he sped his hands in farewell and left.
Shao He watched his departing figure for a moment, then withdrew her gaze to continue diagnosing others.
After a day of seeing patients, Yun Qian came over with a freshly brewed cup of Longjing tea and pushed the cup toward her.
¡°How do you n to handle the matter of household registration?¡± Yun Qian asked softly, his deep ck eyes gazing at her intently.
Shao He, blowing on the teacup, responded methodically, ¡°I intend to solve it myself.¡±
Hearing this, Yun Qian frowned slightly, ¡°The issue of household registration is not as simple as you think. I believe you should ask Young Master Pei for help.¡±
At the mention of Pei Huaian¡¯s name, Shao He¡¯s brow furrowed tighter, ¡°I¡¯ve already troubled him too many times. I don¡¯t want to ask for his help again.¡±
¡°But he can help you escape this predicament.¡±
¡°¡¡±
After a moment of silence, Shao He lifted her head to look at him seriously, ¡°I n to seek help from Mr. Jhiang. He is, after all, the Minister of the Household. He should be able to help with this matter.¡±
¡°That could work, but I fear¡¡± Yun Qian didn¡¯t finish his sentence, not wanting to dash her hopes. He worried that things were often easier said than done.
Shao He seemed to understand his concerns and said with a light smile, ¡°I n to visit the Jhiang Family tomorrow. We¡¯ll see if it can be done then.¡±
¡°Then I¡¯ll apany you,¡± he offered.
¡°There¡¯s no need. I can manage on my own.¡±
Seeing her determination, Yun Qian found it inappropriate to say more. He had intended to send her home in a carriage but she declined, not wanting to draw attention to herself.
On the way back, the night was pitch ck. Shao He took a deep breath of the chilly air, felt the brisk wind, and nced back before quickening her pace.
In a narrow alley, her figure disappeared from sight.
The person who had followed her stopped and turned their head, scanning the surroundings. ¡°Where¡¯s the person?¡±
¡°Looking for me?¡±
The sudden voice startled the searcher, and before they could react, Shao He was already in front of the man, with a dagger at his throat, her expression dark.
¡°Who are you, and why are you following me in the dead of night!¡±
The man didn¡¯t speak, but his expression was evasive as he said, ¡°I wasn¡¯t following you, I just happened to be passing by.¡±
Shao He kicked him in the chest, sending him tumbling to the ground. She then tied him up and threw him into the corner of the alley, stuffing a piece of his tunic into his mouth and giving him a good beating.
¡°Mmm, mmm,¡± the man seemed to want to say something, but by this point, Shao He no longer wished to listen, only stopping when she grew tired.
¡°Go back and tell your master, if he dares send someone to follow me again, it won¡¯t end with just a beating!¡±
After another kick, Shao He dusted off her clothes and left the alley.
Shao He returned to the small courtyard and, hearing the child¡¯s cries, quickened her steps toward the room.
Qingxia was bustling about, trying to swaddle the child and soothe him continuously.
¡°Don¡¯t cry, don¡¯t cry, be good, little young master.¡±
Unfortunately, her words didn¡¯t seem to have any effect. Xiao Linzhang continued to cry incessantly.
Shao He entered the room, took the child, unfolded the small nket, and rewrapped him before lifting him up to gently lull him.
¡°Be good, Xiao Linzhang, don¡¯t cry.¡±
¡°Sleep now, sleep now, my darling, my dear little one.¡±
Xiao Linzhang quieted down in Shao He¡¯s arms, his eyelids slowly closed, and he suckled sweetly into sleep.
¡°The little young master is too attached to the miss. He won¡¯t sleep until the misses back,¡± Qingxia said with a sigh.
No matter how they coaxed, the little young master never agreed to sleep early. He always had to wait for the miss to return.
¡°How has it beentely? Is Xiao Linzhang being obedient?¡± Shao He ced Xiao Linzhang on the bed, covered him with a thin nket, and asked.
Qingxia answered truthfully that they had always been about fighting and killing, with no experience in child-rearing, they could only grope their way through it.
Shao He could tell from their conversation that there were oversights in childcare, but it was understandable since they had never cared for a child before and might naturallyck in thorough care.
The next morning, Shao He woke up from her sleep and saw Xiao Linzhang, with wide eyes looking around, rubbed his chubby cheeks a few times.

Xiao Linzhang, excitedly waving his small arms, tried to grab her hair.
Shao He looked at the time and saw it was gettingte. She hurriedly dressed and changed Xiao Linzhang¡¯s clothes.
Admiring his plump little body but unable to resist it, she became transfixed on noticing something crystal clear on his neck.
There was a jade pendant around Xiao Linzhang¡¯s neck!
Shao He held the jade pendant to examine it and saw the three characters ¡°Shao Linzhang¡± were carved on it. A warmth emanated from the pendant, and a touch of difference flowed from her eyes; this was not an ordinary jade pendant but a piece of Warm Jade.
Warm Jade typically originated from jade stone veins and is very precious, with high market value and worth a fortune.
It is said that Warm Jade can make one feel warm in winter and also has health-preserving effects, greatly benefitting the body.
Qingxia answered with a smile, ¡°It was sent by Young Master Pei.¡±
Chapter 62 - 63: I鈥檒l Think of a Way
Chapter 62: Chapter 63: I¡¯ll Think of a Way
Chu Yu roared angrily, ¡°Guard your words! Do you think finding a few men to rely on can protect you? What a cheap slut!¡±
With that, he raised his right hand and swung fiercely towards Shao He.
Shao He was hardly going to stand there and be hit; as she braced herself for a fight, Chu Yu¡¯s wrist was struck by a stone.
Chu Yu, wincing in pain, lowered his hand, and Shao He took the opportunity to slip out of his grasp, looking up at the person approaching in a wheelchair.
¡°The Marquis is quite imposing, to openly bully a weak woman in broad daylight. If word of this gets out, others might think the Marquis is persecuting amoner girl. I wonder what kind of punishment the Marquis would receive if The Emperor were to me you for this.¡±
Chu Yu¡¯s face changed as he squinted at the neer.
Pei Huaian, dressed in a ck robe, exuded an extraordinary presence. Even seated in a wheelchair, his aura was unmatched.
Chu Yu looked at him and suddenly remembered this was the man who had been with Yan Ze that day, and Yan Ze seemed to respect him greatly.
Pei Huaian nced at him, then turned to Shao He and asked with concern, ¡°Are you alright?¡±
¡°Who are you?¡± Chu Yu asked doubtfully.
¡°Who I am is not important,¡± Pei Huaian replied sternly, piercing through Chu Yu¡¯s fa?ade. ¡°What¡¯s important is that the Marquis should be mindful of his status to avoid giving others leverage against him.¡±
Chu Yu¡¯s expression fluctuated wildly, ring hatefully yet with a hint of apprehension because of Pei Huaian¡¯s apparent association with Yan Ze. He was, therefore, forced to swallow his anger.
¡°The Marquis was merely inquiring about Doctor Shao¡¯s grandmother¡¯s illness and may have acted excessively out of concern for her condition,¡± Chu Yu offered as an exnation for why he had detained Shao He.
Pei Huaian did not expose him, merely nodding slightly. ¡°I hope the Marquis will avoid rash actions in the future, so as not to ruin your promising future.¡±
Chu Yu left with a dark face and silent, but not before his cunning eyes nced at the man in the wheelchair and made an excuse to leave.
After the man had gone far, Shao He dropped her pretense and looked at Pei Huaian with a frown. ¡°Young Master Pei, such a coincidence?¡±
¡°It was nothing inconvenient,¡± Pei Huaian replied with a warm smile, looking down nonchntly at the Jade Ring on his finger.
¡°Why is it that Young Master Pei always happens to appear at such opportune moments? Could it be you have someone watching over me?¡± Shao He asked with a raised eyebrow.
Pei Huaian looked at her in surprise, shaking his head with augh, ¡°Doctor Shao really has a way with jokes. I just happened to be passing by. If I truly had someone tailing you, how could you not have noticed?¡±
¡°In that case, Young Master Pei truly is a remarkable man. Not only are you noble in character, but you also seem to be quite skilled at assisting others in distress,¡± Shao He said with feigned admiration.
Pei Huaian chuckled and asked, ¡°Where is Doctor Shao headed?¡±
¡°To Anji Hall,¡± Shao He answered.
¡°I¡¯ll take you there. It¡¯s on my way, and it will prevent Chu Yu from showing up and troubling you unexpectedly.¡±
Shao He didn¡¯t refuse, nodding and saying, ¡°Thank you then.¡±
Considering Chu Yu¡¯s unpredictable temper, having Pei Huaian¡¯s protection did seem safer, so she didn¡¯t refuse.
Upon seeing him maneuvering the wheelchair by himself, Shao He walked behind him and started pushing the wheelchair forward slowly.
Pei Huaian was initially startled, then a hint of a smile appeared in his eyes.
Shao He¡¯s gaze fell on the hands grasping the wheelchair, well-defined and evenly proportioned; they were handsomely enviable.
Feeling her gaze, Pei Huaian turned his head to look at her, the corners of his mouth gradually curving into a wider smile.
Momentster, returning to her senses, Shao He met Pei Huaian¡¯s eyes, then quickly lowered her gaze, asking, ¡°Where are Young Master Pei¡¯s subordinates? Why are you alone?¡±
Pei Huaian looked away and replied softly, ¡°Subordinates need to rest too!¡±
Ah Mo, left behind by Pei Huaian, couldn¡¯t stop sneezing and could only follow from afar as his master moved further away.
From time to time, Shao He stole nces at Pei Huaian, observing his cool gaze, sharp and cold, which was generally unapproachable, and she wondered what a person like him would look like.
Noticing the Jade Ring on his hand, Shao He abruptly thought of the Warm Jade on Xiao Linzhang¡¯s neck and asked, ¡°That Warm Jade must be quite valuable. Where did you get it from? It must have cost a good amount of Silver?¡±
¡°It¡¯s just a piece of Warm Jade. Xiao Linzhang and I were fated, so I gave it to him as a gift. You needn¡¯t worry about it,¡± Pei Huaian exined indifferently, as if the jade he gave away wasn¡¯t costly.
Upon hearing this, a surge ofplex emotions welled up in Shao He, and she bowed her head in silence.

Pei Huaian nced at her, noting the faint worry in her brow, and asked, ¡°Did youe to the Jhiang Family for the child¡¯s household registration issue?¡±
Shao He looked up in surprise, her lips pursing quietly before responding. ¡°Yes, I just didn¡¯t expect that Chu Yu would be a step ahead of me. He pressured the Jhiang Family, so Master Jhiang couldn¡¯t help much.¡±
¡°What do you n to do now?¡± Pei Huaian asked with a raised eyebrow.
Shao He forced a smile, ¡°I¡¯ll think of something else.¡±
Pei Huaian frowned slightly, turned to her, and said, ¡°Actually, I can help with the household registration matter.¡±
Not wanting to bother Pei Huaian further, and also concerned he might offend Chu Yu, Shao He declined gently, ¡°No need, I¡¯ll think of other ways.¡±
Pei Huaian understood Shao He¡¯s concerns and knew she didn¡¯t want to trouble others, which is why she declined. He then took the opportunity to say, ¡°I have a distant rtive whose daughter has passed away. The household registration can be sorted out, and it¡¯s not very troublesome.¡±
Chapter 64 - 65 I Won鈥檛 Disappear for That Long Again
Chapter 64: Chapter 65 I Won¡¯t Disappear for That Long Again
Old Madam Chu sighed and then tactically conceded by saying, ¡°Fine, I won¡¯t oppose Luo Jiner being the principal wife, but she must bear a child. We cannot let our Marquis¡¯s Mansion be without an heir.¡±
Chu Yu¡¯s face lit up with surprise and he promptly asked, ¡°Grandmother, how are Doctor Shao¡¯s medical skills?¡±
He was contemting letting Shao He treat Luo Jiner, especially since the news about Jhiang Yijia¡¯s pregnancy had spread far and wide; perhaps she truly had the ability.
Seeing that he didn¡¯t talk about the child and was only concerned with treating Luo Jiner¡¯s illness, Old Madam Chu could not help but reproachfully say, ¡°Can you bear to see your own child wandering outside and calling someone else father in the future?¡±
Chu Yu remembered today¡¯s unpleasant atmosphere between Shao He and the man in the wheelchair and was even more surprised by her change, but this still did not alter his desire to kill both Shao He and that child, simply because he feared the exposure of that matter.
¡°Grandmother, you need not worry about the child. Moreover, the child was extremely frail when born; it¡¯s uncertain whether it could even survive, so leaving it with Shao He for now is indeed safe.¡±
By saying this, Chu Yu was also paving the way for the future; whether he could bring the child back or not, he would not allow that misbegotten child to live, as it was a great insult to him.
Old Madam Chu became anxious upon hearing this and grabbed his hand, saying, ¡°Since it is so, you should bring the child back and let the Imperial Physician take a good look.¡±
¡°Grandmother, who do you think has better medical skills, the Imperial Physician or Doctor Shao? You needn¡¯t worry about this matter anymore.¡±
Chu Yu did not wish to continue this topic and immediately made his excuses, leaving in a hurry because of other pressing matters.
Old Madam Chu watched his retreating back and couldn¡¯t help sighing, feeling even more resentful that Luo Jiner was a vixen.
Chu Yu arrived at Luo Jiner¡¯s courtyard and saw the person who was sewing clothes, walking over.
¡°Haven¡¯t I said such matters can be handed to the servants? Why must you do it yourself?¡±
Luo Jiner, with a smile, looked up at the visitor, ¡°This is the Marquis¡¯s garment, naturally, I should sew it myself.¡±
Chu Yu¡¯s lips curved into a slight smile, his irritation dissipating somewhat, and he said, ¡°I¡¯m thinking of asking Doctor Shao to treat you.¡±
Luo Jiner, not paying attention, pricked her finger and immediately yelped in pain.
Chu Yu was startled and quickly grasped her hand to check the wound, asking with concern, ¡°Does it hurt?¡±
Luo Jiner gently shook her head, withdrew her hand he was holding, picked up the needle and thread to start sewing again, and smiled, ¡°It¡¯s nothing.¡±
The pain made her furrow her brows slightly, but she still kept a smile on her face and asked softly, ¡°Why has the Marquis suddenly thought of having my sister treat me?¡±
¡°Grandmother said as long as you can conceive a child, you can be supported as the principal wife.¡±
Luo Jiner¡¯s eyes were cast down, and she didn¡¯t speak, as if considering Chu Yu¡¯s words.
After a moment, she slowly shook her head and said, ¡°I¡¯m just afraid that my sister holds a grudge in her heart and might use this as an opportunity to harm me.¡±
Chu Yu¡¯s expression darkened, and he said coldly, ¡°She doesn¡¯t have the nerve to do that. Just let her treat you without worry. Besides, no one else can cure your condition except her.¡±
After discussing for a while, Luo Jiner finally agreed, the position as the Marquis¡¯s legitimate wife was too tempting, worth taking the risk to try. After all, her body was already in such a state, and if Shao He couldn¡¯t heal her, it could also be an opportunity to ruin her reputation.
The sky was densely covered with dark clouds, seemingly presaging a great snowstorm.
Leaning against the doorway, Shao He looked at the people hurrying outside, her expression indifferent as if she didn¡¯t feel the severe cold of winter, standing there quietly while the cold wind battered her.
¡°The household registration matter has been settled,¡± Yun Qian came over, handing her a hand warmer.
Shao He took it and said, ¡°Mmm, Young Master Pei said there¡¯s a rtive whose daughter passed away, which is perfect for transferring the registration.¡±
Yun Qian was not very surprised by this; he had guessed that it was Pei Huaian who had helped when he brought Shao He back today.
¡°That¡¯s good.¡±
Yun Qian¡¯s gaze fell on arge bag of herbs, knowing that she would take these herbs back to make frostbite ointment and cold remedies, and he suggested, ¡°It¡¯s somewhat inconvenient for you to carry all these herbs back alone. Why don¡¯t I escort you?¡±
¡°No need, I¡¯ve hired Nanny Zhang to take care of the child. She¡¯ll go back with me in a bit.¡± Shao He didn¡¯t want too many people to know her whereabouts; not only was it dangerous for her, but it was also risky for Yun Qian.
Nanny Zhang didn¡¯te but sent a deed of sale and a letter informing that she wanted to sell the house and deal with the aftermath before going to Shao He¡¯s residence.
After reading the letter, Shao He put the deed of sale inside her clothes, took the herbs, and was about to leave when a carriage suddenly stopped in front of her.
Seeing Ah Mo as the driver, she knew who was inside the carriage.
@@novelbin@@
The carriage curtain was lifted, and Pei Huaian stated his purpose directly.
¡°Thest batch of frostbite ointment and cold remedies worked well. Could I order another batch?¡±
Shao He looked at the herbs in her hands and nodded reluctantly; she would be forced to take even more herbs back with her.
Seeing this, Yun Qian frowned and said, ¡°Those herbs are too heavy; let me take you both part of the way.¡±
Shao He, considering the volume of herbs, was about to agree when Ah Mo suddenly stepped forward with a bow and said, ¡°Doctor Shao, my master offers to take you part of the way and would also like to inquire further about his leg condition.¡±
Yun Qian¡¯s frown deepened, and he looked at Shao He, who didn¡¯t hesitate to agree, so he pursed his lips and remained silent.
Shao He boarded the carriage, inside was Pei Huaian, who gestured for her to sit beside him.
Shao He got right to the point after sitting down, ¡°Although I can treat your cold poison, you also need to cooperate. Likest time, noting in for treatment for an entire month will certainly aggravate your condition.¡±
She had intended to use the medicinal herbs to brew a decoction; however, such herbs were extremely precious, and her medical forms were quite special, unsuitable for nourishment and only for topical application at the beginning.
¡°I won¡¯t disappear for that long again,¡± Pei Huaian said seriously, looking at her like he was making a promise.
Chapter 65 - 66 I have a stomachache!
Chapter 65: Chapter 66 I have a stomachache!
¡°It¡¯s good that you know.¡± Shao He felt somewhat uneasy as she turned her face away, looking through the carriage window at the scenery outside, which was on the way back.
As if recalling something, Shao He suddenly turned her head to look at Pei Huaian, her eyes carrying a hint of surprise.
Under the intensity of her gaze, Pei Huaian raised his head and met those clear, distinct eyes, with a slight smile at the corner of his mouth.
¡°What is it?¡±
Staring at him with a cold gaze, Shao He asked after a moment, ¡°I¡¯ve never mentioned where I live, so how could Ah Mo know?¡±
Pei Huaian¡¯s smile stiffened, feeling she had misunderstood, and hurriedly began to exin, ¡°Ah Mo and I saw youe and go here by chance and knew that you lived here too.¡±
Shao He was taken aback by his words and asked, ¡°Don¡¯t tell me you live here as well?¡±
¡°I live in the five-sectionpound in the alley,¡± Pei Huaian replied indifferently.
No sooner had he finished speaking than the carriage stopped. Shao He didn¡¯t investigate further and, looking at the medical herbs in the carriage, thought of asking Ah Mo to help bring them inside.
Pei Huaian volunteered, ¡°There are so many herbs, let us help you bring them in.¡±
Shao He did not refuse, and Ah Mo, carrying a pile of herbs, looked at his master, who was empty-handed, with a howl of grief in his heart; it was the master who had offered to help, yet it was he who was carrying the goods.
In this way, Pei Huaian entered the residence openly and uprightly. Following orders, Ah Mo ced the herbs in the side room and, catching his master¡¯s nce, retreated to wait outside the door.
Shao He poured a cup of tea for him, which Pei Huaian epted and took a light sip. Just then, Qingxia came over, holding Xiao Linzhang in her arms.
Seeing the child, Pei Huaian smiled slightly, ¡°Xiao Linzhang seems to have gained quite a bit of weight.¡±
After speaking, he reached out intending to hold the child. Only after Qingxia saw the miss¡¯s consenting eyes did she hand the child over to him.
Yet everything seemed too smooth to be true.
The next morning, two rare visitors arrived at Anji Hall. Upon seeing the two approaching, Yun Qian rose from his seat to greet them.
¡°My lord Marquis, are you feeling unwell? Allow me to take your pulse.¡±
@@novelbin@@
¡°No need, I¡¯m here for Doctor Shao.¡±
Yun Qian thought he hade to make trouble and looked troubled.
However, Chu Yu unexpectedly spoke to Yun Qian gently, ¡°What¡¯s the matter? Is it inconvenient?¡±
Not knowing quite how to respond, Yun Qian tried to tactfully decline, ¡°We have quite a few patients today, so it might be a while. Maybe, my lord Marquis, you¡¡±
He hadn¡¯t finished speaking when Chu Yu, with an unconcerned face, said, ¡°No matter, then we will wait in the back.¡±
This caught Yun Qian by surprise; why did Chu Yu seem so out of character today?
He whispered something into Shao He¡¯s ear.
Following his pointing finger, Shao He looked over and saw the two waiting impatiently, their eyebrows tightly furrowed, wondering what they were up to.
¡°Never mind, you go attend to your matters. I¡¯ll handle this.¡±
Yun Qian nodded and left but still looked back worriedly.
Just as Chu Yu¡¯s patience was running thin, it finally became their turn.
¡°I ask Doctor Shao to examine Jiner and see if her illness can be treated,¡± Chu Yu, rarely squeezing out a smile, said with a very polite attitude.
Shao He was initially surprised by his sudden change in demeanor, only to learn he wanted her to treat Luo Jiner, and she couldn¡¯t help but curl the corners of her mouth in response.
¡°My medical skills are not refined; I must ask the Marquis to seek someone more expert,¡± Shao He demurred.
¡°Why so modest, Doctor Shao? We havee precisely because we trust your medical expertise,¡± Chu Yu said, patiently.
Shao He crossed her arms, saw his hypocritical face, and said coldly, ¡°Last time, didn¡¯t the Marquis call me a chatan? Moreover, while it is our duty to treat the sick, it is impossible to treat patients who do not trust us, lest we be bitten backter. It would be better for the Marquis to seek help from the Imperial Physician.¡±
Listening to her sarcastic words, Luo Jiner clenched the embroidered handkerchief in her hand tightly, her downcast eyes masking the hatred within.
Chu Yu studied her face, noticing she had be prettier than before and her temperament had changed drastically. Despite the anger boiling in his heart, he restrained himself from venting it since he was the one seeking a favor.
Luo Jiner¡¯s mouth turned downward slightly, revealing a look of aggrievement.
¡°Sister¡ with Doctor Shao¡¯s superb medical skills, why won¡¯t you treat me? Did I offend you somehow? If so, I apologize to you right here,¡± she said.
¡°Stop your pretense. I just don¡¯t want to have anything more to do with the Marquis¡¯s Mansion. It¡¯s best if we never cross paths again,¡± Shao He retorted.
Shao He realized her words implied she was targeting Luo Jiner, but she didn¡¯t care; that was indeed her wish.
Hearing her boldly admit it, Chu Yu felt somewhat frustrated, not expecting her to be so eager to disassociate from him.
