《Game On》 Rivalry Ignited ¡°Go deeper!¡±Jasper yelled across the field. Red shirts swarm, tensions are high, sweat is falling down her form. Lillian watches her tails, their arms outspread. Her long blonde hair sparkled in the sun, the ponytail blowing softly in the wind as she waited to make her move. They know she¡¯s a danger. The team¡¯s open Omega is a dangerous Omega. She grabs her collar, tags jingling. She flicks it to the left, grabbing the metal identification tags so they silence. She darts to the right, sprinting across the field and weaving between red and yellow shirts. Her tails are hot on her heels, having figured out her little ruse. Jasper tries to move around his blocker, stationary. With the disc in hand, he crouches under the opposing player¡¯s arms ¨C tossing the disc hard across the field. It soars, the other six in yellow now switch to block their red counterparts from going after her. 10 metres, 20, 30, she¡¯s flying down the field. Her tags clang together as she sprints to the endzone, Jasper¡¯s disc overhead. She watches it ¨C aware of the other two reds trying to keep up. The disc is almost in place, too high for her to leap yet, but almost. It slows, veering slightly to her right. It¡¯s finally in range. She breathes, turning herself to the side and leaping up. She grasps the plastic frisbee, landing hard across the endzone.¡°That¡¯s game!¡±Jasper screams from across the field.¡°Seven to six!¡± Her team erupts in cheers, the red shirts groaning and her two tails shoving each other for not being able to keep up. She drops the disc, beaming and runs over to her team. High fives all around the group, both teams make their way back to the bleachers. The other two teams are still tossing the disc back and forth on the other side of the field, it¡¯s match point. ¡°Lilly!¡±Jasper trots up to her.¡°Good catch! You¡¯re a little too damn good at this. I fear a day we end up on opposite teams.¡±He says, wiping his forehead of sweat. Jasper had been the one to recommend she join their university¡¯s Ultimate Frisbee team when she was a first year. She had been walking around the club faire when the Alpha had approached her. Tall, bulky, and lovely dark toffee coloured skin. She was mortified. So far, Alphas had left her alone during her first week of classes, but he had kind eyes. Large gentle hands too, which he used to hand her a flyer. She hadn¡¯t considered playing frisbee before. But figured she¡¯d give it a shot. Now she was the team¡¯s Golden Retriever. Get her into an open spot or leave enough space for her to wiggle around to catch the disc should it be thrown to her? That¡¯s a match waiting to be won. ¡°Thanks! It was a good throw. Took me a little work to get Dane and Jay-Jay off my back.¡±She said, pulling her yellow penny off and tossing it alongside the others. Her shoulders and cheeks were lightly dusted with freckles, which seemed to only darken with all the time she¡¯s spent on the field recently. Jasper laughed.¡°Try having Sam blocking you. He¡¯s thin but has one hell of a wingspan.¡± Lillian picked up her water bottle, taking a sip before pressing the cool canister up to her forehead.¡°I try to avoid being blocked. Most of you guys are much bigger than me and I can only jump so high.¡± She remembered the first practice she went to. She didn¡¯t know anyone there, aside from a few vaguely familiar faces from her classes. She realised once everyone lined up to be sorted onto daily teams that she was one of three females, and from the looks of it, the only Omega. Most of the guys were Alphas, with a few Betas sprinkled in. Jasper was their captain, alongside Vanessa - a gorgeous Alpha with long curly blonde hair and strong features. She served as a vice president of sorts. Lillian had been terrified to go out onto the field in what seems like an Alpha¡¯s game. She soon learned to use her size to the advantage. The opposing team would often make the mistake of forgetting she was there. ¡°Either way you did good. Always a pleasure teaming up.¡±He said, dark eyes not leaving the sport collar wrapped around her neck.¡°I do need to talk to you though.¡±Lillian looked up from her water, tilting her head.¡°Step to the side for a moment?¡± She nodded, walking further away from the group as the others chatted about the game.¡°What¡¯s up?¡± ¡°You¡ erm¡ might want to swap that collar out soon.¡±Her eyes widened.¡°I only know you¡¯re getting close because you told me. But the others can probably smell the heat on you.¡± ¡°Sorry.¡±She said sheepishly.¡°I try to be diligent about it, but I didn¡¯t have a lot of time to swap out the patches after class. It was either swap them or eat. I chose the latter.¡± Jasper shrugged.¡°No worries. I¡¯ll let the team know you¡¯ll be out in a bit; I won¡¯t bother telling them why. I¡¯m sure they¡¯ll figure it out.¡± She nodded.¡°Thank you. Anything you need me to do before I leave?¡± He thought for a moment.¡°If you haven¡¯t picked up on it, some of the guys got a little restless and rambunctious with your patches wearing off. Have Vanessa walk you back to your dorm just to be safe, please.¡±Lillian could tell Jasper himself was having a hard time with her scent. But she appreciated his composure and care for her safety despite opposing primary and secondary sexes. ¡°I will. Need any help picking up the cones and gear today?¡±She asked. She usually helped pick things up and clean the stadium a little before she left. Made her feel helpful and helped fill her need to serve. ¡°No, it was a light practice. The other guys and I should be okay. You just get back safe and rest up. Hydrate or die-drate.¡±He chuckled. She voiced her agreement as they walked back over to the group. She could definitely feel the heat creeping its way into her head. Normally she only saw everyone as teammates. But she¡¯d be damned if she wasn¡¯t fond of a few. After all, she was a relatively straight Omega surrounded by primarily tall, athletic, beautiful male Alphas. She tried to keep things strictly professional, but after two years working with the same guys it was hard. After going out for food following tournaments and having a bunch of sweet Alphas always encouraging or praising her - she had a few little daydreams floating around. Daydreams that she would have to indulge while she¡¯s heat quarantined. The university was small, roughly 3,000 students total, but had a pretty decent number of Alphas and Omegas compared to most schools. Fector University prided itself on its sports as well as its academics, so a lot of Alphas attended alongside their sport scholarships. And with their Omega-heat-friendly and Alpha-rut-friendly buildings ¨C they attracted a lot of those with a more uncommon secondary gender. The school itself was also fairly progressive and made it a point that the school¡¯s Betas and Omegas were not treated as any less than the Alphas. As far as Fector was concerned, all students were equal regardless of gender. Vanessa walked over, clad in black athletic shorts and a dark purple sports bra, shaking the droplets from her water bottle out of her hair.¡°Ready to head back?¡±she asked, wrapping her discarded shirt around her sweaty shoulders. Lillian nodded, taking a deep breath. She admired the trees and students playing games on campus as she and Vanessa walked back to her dorm. The collar felt tight. She couldn¡¯t wait to get back and shower. Though she knew was going to have to pull out her scent-blocking soap to mask things. She had a few days left on her suppressants before her heat was due, so the soap would help alongside the patches. ¡°Not to be that person¡¡±Vanessa trailed. Lillian meets her eyes.¡°But maybe you should go into quarantine early. Or at least take the next week and a half from the team.¡± She shrugged.¡°I¡¯ve been dealing with this for the last¡ 8 years? I¡¯ll be fine, I don¡¯t feel terribly warm yet.¡±Which was mostly true. Granted, the patches usually last longer than they did this time around, but heats fluctuate. ¡°Even then, I wouldn¡¯t want anything to happen on the field if your collar wasn¡¯t working. I just worry about your safety is all. Some of the guys can get a little rowdy, and with most of them being A¡¯s, the Troop Effect would be tough to break up.¡±Vanessa kept her voice low; Lillian didn¡¯t need people hearing about her upcoming heat or its drawbacks. Lillian personally had never dealt with the Troop Effect. They had talked about it in her Psychology class a few semesters ago. From what she had heard it wasn¡¯t really an issue now that things were more modern, and medical aid had come a long way. Hundreds of years ago Alphas had been drafted almost exclusively to fight in wars. A barbaric but common tactic was to drop an Omega in heat into an enemy troops¡¯ camp. Typically, it would cause many of the Alphas to go feral and attack each other ¨C decimating the fighting population. The Omega would usually end up killed in the carnage, occasionally they¡¯d make it out alive ¨C but pregnant. Before certain war laws forbade the use of Omegas as a ¡°weapon¡±, the Omega would be killed to avoid producing a child of ¡°tainted¡± blood. She wasn¡¯t going to war though. She was going to class and playing frisbee.¡°I think it would be fine. We¡¯re not in the 1700s. It¡¯s just a bit of pheromones, I¡¯m not in heat yet.¡± ¡°And if you go into heat early?¡± ¡°Vanessa.¡±Lillian¡¯s tone indicated this was the last of this conversation.¡°I¡¯ll be fine.¡± Vanessa shrugged.¡°You signed the waiver. If you feel safe, then I¡¯ll take your word for it. You know your body. Just be careful, please.¡± Lillian had signed a waiver. Every semester she has to sign a liability form stating she¡¯s not going to sue anyone if she gets injured in some way. This extended to her heat season as well.¡°I will.¡± She said, pulling out her ID to swipe into her residence hall.¡°I¡¯m going to go get cleaned up.¡± Vanessa nodded.¡°Okay, just be safe.¡±She said, then waved goodbye as she walked back towards campus. Lillian stepped into her dorm room, the familiar scent of her lavender air freshener mingling with the remnants of sweat from practice. She tossed her water bottle onto her bed and walked straight to the bathroom, eager to wash away the day¡¯s exertions. As the water cascaded over her curves, she felt relieved, but couldn¡¯t ignore the anxiety tingling in the back of her brain. The patches were barely holding up, and she could sense the heat creeping closer. The green in her eyes seemed brighter, and her pupils looked slightly blown. She figured she had another week or so before it hit. But something felt different this time. She shrugged it off as either stress, hormones, or both. After washing her hair, she pulled out her scent-blocking soap, lathering up as she thought about the upcoming tournament. Fector University¡¯s Ultimate Frisbee team was set to face off against a rival school known for their aggressive playstyle. The thought of it made her heart race - not just from excitement, but from the awareness that she¡¯d need to manage her oncoming heat while performing at her absolute best. Once she was dressed and feeling somewhat more composed, she glanced at her phone. A message from Jasper popped up in their team chat:¡°Hey, team meeting tomorrow at 5. We need to strategize for the tournament. Bring your A-game!¡±She smiled, enjoying seeing how excited the team was for the tournament. However, the thought of being around the team while dealing with her upcoming heat made her uneasy. She was aware of the Troop Effect, and even if she felt fine now, she knew that once her heat hit, it would likely trigger something in the Alphas around her if she wasn¡¯t careful or quarantined in time. Lillian decided to text Jasper, letting him know she would be at the meeting but might need to sit out some drills. The next evening arrived quickly, and Lillian found herself in the familiar huddle with her teammates. Jasper stood at the front, his presence commanding but friendly. Vanessa was beside him, her expression serious as she eyed the tactics laid out on a clipboard. ¡°Alright, team,¡±Jasper began,¡°we¡¯re going up against Crestwood University this weekend. They¡¯re known for their high-energy plays and aggressive defence. We need to be prepared.¡± The team nodded, and Lillian could feel the excitement building among the team. She was thrilled to be part of something so vibrant, but her heart raced for another reason. She could sense the tension in the air, heightened by her impending heat, which made her skin prickle, and her head feel a bit fuzzy. ¡°Lillian,¡±Vanessa called out, breaking her concentration. Lillian met her gaze, trying to focus.¡°We¡¯re going to need you to utilize your speed. If you can create separation, we can set up plays that take advantage of your agility.¡± ¡°Absolutely,¡±Lillian replied, though her voice trembled slightly. She could feel a few Alphas¡¯ eyes lingering on her collar, the heat emanating from her body, intensifying their curiosity. The scent of their sweat mixed with the fresh grass, and it made her head spin. Each inhale sent a rush of warmth coursing through her, distracting her from the strategy at hand. Vanessa continued calling names and pulling the team together through the strategies. If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it''s taken without the author''s consent. Report it. As the meeting wrapped up, Jasper approached her.¡°You sure you¡¯re okay to play? I know you mentioned needing to sit out some drills.¡± ¡°I¡¯ll be fine,¡±Lillian said, forcing a smile despite the way her heart raced at his proximity. The scent of him was intoxicating, sending her thoughts spiralling.¡°Just need to keep my scent under control. I can handle it.¡± Jasper frowned slightly; concern etched across his features.¡°Just promise me you¡¯ll be careful out there. If you need to step back, don¡¯t hesitate.¡±Lillian nodded, but knew she was too stubborn to listen.
The next couple of days flew by in a blur of practices, with Lillian trying her best to focus on the game while managing the heat pooling under her skin. Nesting in her head. Each time she sprinted down the field, she could feel the pressure building, the urges tugging at her consciousness. The anticipation of her heat was obvious, with her body responding to the scents around her in ways that left her overwhelmed. On the day of the tournament, Lillian arrived at the field early, heart pounding in anticipation. The atmosphere was electric, with teams warming up and fans milling about. She spotted the Crestwood team across the field, their Alphas donned in grey and blue uniforms, particularly intimidating alongside their sharp stares and confident postures. The moment she caught a whiff of their pheromones, her head felt hazy, and her breath came quicker. It was as if the air was thick with a heady mix of sweat and dominance, and it made her stomach flutter unsteadily. As the game began, Lillian''s team started strong, working seamlessly together. They communicated effortlessly, and she felt her confidence swell. But every time she caught a whiff of the opposing team¡¯s scents, her senses heightened, and her resolve faltered slightly. The air was saturated with the musk of the Crestwood Alphas, an awful combination of exertion and something distinctly primal that made her pulse race. In one of the critical moments of the match, she found herself matched up against a tall, imposing Alpha from Crestwood. His presence was overwhelming; he exuded confidence and a powerful scent that made her heart race. As they sprinted down the field, Lillian could feel the heat surging within her, making her instincts scream for attention. It was intoxicating, and she fought to keep her focus on the game, but the heat was clouding her mind. ¡°Lillian!¡±Jasper''s voice cut through the haze as he called for the disc, but it felt muffled, distant. All she could concentrate on was the Alpha¡¯s proximity, the way he moved with effortlessness, and the intoxicating scent that seemed to envelop her. It was overwhelming, making her feel dizzy and vulnerable. As she leaped to catch a high throw, she felt the heat surge within her, overwhelming her senses. The world around her seemed to fade, and all she could focus on was the disc and the Alpha''s presence beside her. The disc slipped through her fingers, and she landed hard on the ground, the impact jolting her back to reality. ¡°Shit!¡±she muttered, frustration bubbling inside her. She could feel the heat rising to her cheeks, not just from embarrassment but from the mounting pressure that the scent of the opposing Alpha was exerting on her. ¡°Too bad, Omega.¡±He smirked, and Lillian felt frustration wash over her. He was doing this on purpose. She was losing focus, and with it, the game. The atmosphere was charged enough, and she could sense her teammates exchanging worried glances, their awareness of her internal struggle growing. ¡°Lillian!¡±Jasper called out, concern evident in his voice as he rushed over.¡°Are you okay?¡± She nodded, though the heat was making it hard to think clearly.¡°I just¡ lost it for a moment.¡± ¡°Let¡¯s regroup,¡±he said, leading her back to the sidelines.¡°You¡¯re doing great, but I can see you¡¯re struggling. We need you sharp if we¡¯re going to win this.¡± As she caught her breath, Vanessa approached, her expression serious.¡°You need to tell us if you¡¯re feeling off. We can adjust the game plan.¡± Lillian took a deep breath, feeling the pressure of everyone¡¯s expectations. The heat was building within her, swirling with every scent that wafted through the air, making it hard to concentrate.¡°I¡¯m okay. I¡¯ll do my best,¡±she said, determination settling in, though she couldn¡¯t ignore the way her body was responding to the Alphas surrounding her. As the game continued, Lillian could feel her impulses fighting for control. The heat was a live wire, thrumming beneath her skin, and every time she caught a glimpse of the Crestwood players, particularly the tall Alpha she¡¯d faced before, her mind clouded with thoughts she didn¡¯t want to entertain. She felt vulnerable and caught in the centre of chaos. Maybe this was a bad idea. With each play, she noticed how some of the Alphas on her team were slightly off their game, their focus diverted by the scent that lingered in the air. They exchanged glances, their bodies tense, and she felt the weight of their attention on her, mixing with the pressure of the competition. It was a delicate balance - she wanted to so bad to excel, to prove her worth, but the heat made everything more complicated. Finally, Lillian found herself with the disc again. Jasper had thrown it, and she had the chance to score. She sprinted down the field, heart pounding as she felt the heat radiating off her body. An opposing Alpha was closing in, his scent overwhelming as he tried to block her. But she pushed past the distraction, focusing solely on the goal. She leaped into the air, adrenaline surging, and caught the disc just in time, landing hard in the end zone.¡°Yes!¡±she shouted, the thrill of victory coursing through her veins. Her team erupted in cheers, and Lillian felt a rush of euphoria. Yet, as she turned to celebrate, she caught sight of the Crestwood Alpha watching her, his expression unreadable, and she felt her heart race again - this time for an entirely different reason.
Kael stood on the field while his teammates walked to a huddle on the sidelines. His jaw clenched in frustration as he watched Lillian celebrate her touchdown. The sound of her laughter grated his nerves, and he could see it affecting the team. Her presence cut through the air like a knife, and he felt a surge of irritation rise within him. It wasn¡¯t just her skill on the field that bothered him; it was the way she seemed to command attention, drawing eyes and focus away from the game. ¡°Alright, listen up!¡±Reid, their captain, barked, commanding their attention. ¡°We¡¯re not playing against just any team; we¡¯re up against Fector, and that Omega is their ace. If any of you boneheads can¡¯t tell, she¡¯s almost in heat. It¡¯s working to their advantage, and we need to shut her down.¡±His eyes snapped to Kael as he approached the team.¡°That¡¯s your job, now.¡± Kael shifted uncomfortably, irritation bubbling beneath the surface.¡°What do you want me to do? Puppy sit?¡± ¡°Exactly,¡±Reid replied, intensity radiating from him.¡°You need to stay on her, apply pressure. Don¡¯t let her heat get into your head. It¡¯s affecting all of us. If we let that distraction take over, we¡¯re done for.¡± Kael frowned, a mix of annoyance and reluctance washing over him.¡°So, we just play dirty? That¡¯s the plan?¡± ¡°This isn¡¯t about playing dirty; it¡¯s about winning,¡±Reid shot back, his expression fierce.¡°We¡¯re Crestwood, we need to be aggressive. Kael, you seem to make her waver when you¡¯re close. Use that to our advantage. If you can get in her head and under her skin, we can throw her off her game.¡± Kael clenched his jaw, feeling the weight of the responsibility on his shoulders. The idea of exploiting her impending heat felt cheap, but he understood that Reid¡¯s focus was on the team¡¯s success.¡°Fine. I¡¯ll keep her close. Just don¡¯t expect me to go easy on her.¡± ¡°Good,¡±Reid said, his voice low but firm.¡°We¡¯re not here to make friends. We¡¯re here to win, and we need to make sure we don¡¯t let her heat distract us. Stay focused. Let¡¯s show them what Crestwood is made of.¡± As the huddle broke, Kael felt the adrenaline surging through him. He was ready to take on the challenge, but he couldn¡¯t shake the feeling that this game was about more than just strategy.
¡°Great catch!¡±Jasper exclaimed, clapping Lillian on the back, but she could sense the tension lingering in the air. The game was far from over, and with every play, she felt the heat within her rising - a conflicting drive that made it hard to concentrate. The tournament was just beginning, and she knew she had to manage both her instincts and the game, all while keeping her teammates focused on the win. During the huddle, Lillian tried to shake off the dizziness that threatened to overwhelm her. Jasper was animatedly discussing strategy, but her focus kept drifting to the Crestwood huddle, especially that one Alpha. His presence was electric, and every time he moved, the scent of sweat and something distinctly male wrapped around her, making her heart race. ¡°Lillian, we need you sharp out there,¡±Vanessa urged, her voice low but firm.¡°If it¡¯s becoming too much, just let us know.¡± ¡°I¡¯m fine,¡±Lillian insisted, but the heat radiating from her skin made her feel exposed.¡°I just need to focus.¡±The truth was, it was becoming increasingly difficult. The cheers of her teammates, the adrenaline pumping through her veins, and the overwhelming presence of the opposing Alpha were all colliding in a way that sent her thoughts spiralling. As the game resumed, she found herself matched up with him again. He was fast and agile, cutting through the field like a predator. Her heart raced as they sprinted for the disc, and the intoxicating scent of him ignited a fire deep within her, distracting her with every step. When the disc was thrown, Lillian leaped to intercept it, adrenaline fuelling her movements. But just as she reached for it, the Alpha lunged forward, and they crashed together. The impact sent her tumbling to the ground, and before she knew it, she found herself underneath him. The world around them faded as all his weight pressed down on her, their bodies locked in a tangle of limbs. Lillian''s breath hitched as she felt the heat radiating from him, mingling with her own rising desire. His eyes were intense, a mix of surprise and something darker that sent a thrill through her. She could see the ragged rise and fall of his chest, and her body responded in ways she couldn¡¯t control. Both of them stayed still, frozen and unable to move. This was the first time she truly got a good look at him. The sunlight glinted off his tan skin and tousled curly dark hair, the sweat beads dripping off as he loomed over her. His hazel eyes were striking. They were filled with an intensity that caught her off guard; normally she¡¯d squirm under a gaze like this, but she couldn¡¯t seem to move. She trailed her eyes down to his strong jawline and slight stubble that added to his rugged charm, while the muscles in his arms hinted towards his overwhelming strength. ¡°Are you okay?¡±he asked, his voice deep and breathless, the closeness expanding the heat in her chest as it coursed through her veins. The way he looked at her made her heart race even faster. She barely managed to nod, her mind spiralling as the scent of him enveloped her, intoxicating and overwhelming. The collision had sent her thoughts into a haze, and she could feel a flush creeping up her cheeks, a small amount of slick seeping out. The Alpha''s eyes widened, clearly picking up on the change in scent, and his mouth dropped open. The heat within her flared dangerously close to the surface, and she fought to maintain control, but it was becoming increasingly difficult. In that moment, as he hovered above her, Lillian couldn''t help but feel suffocated by her collar. Like it was choking her and constricting around her neck. Her green eyes widened, something about him had an undeniable presence, and the realization left her feeling like she needed to claw out of her own skin. Just as she was about to reach for the buckle, Jasper¡¯s voice broke through their bubble.¡°Lillian! Crestwood! Up!¡±The urgency in his tone snapped her back to reality, and the Alpha scrambled off her, propping himself up on his elbows to give her space and collect himself. But the charge between them was still lingering, and she could feel her body responding violently, teetering her on the edge of a full-blown heat. His dark eyes held hers for a moment longer, and she could see the conflict in them - his own breathing ragged as he picked himself off the ground. He looked just as affected, a flush creeping across his cheeks, but before she could fully process it, the spell was broken as their respective teammates rushed in. ¡°Lillian, are you alright?¡±Jasper asked, urgency lacing his voice as he helped her to her feet, tossing a glare towards Crestwood. She nodded distractedly, but her heart was still racing, the lingering sensation of his firm body pressing against hers making her pulse quicken. ¡°Stay focused!¡±Jasper urged; concern etched on his face.¡°We need you back in the game! But if you need a break then take it. Please.¡± With a deep breath, Lillian shook off the thoughts that threatened to consume her. She wasn¡¯t going to let this take over. She had fought too hard to get here, and she wasn¡¯t going to let anything hold her back. As the game continued, she focused on each play, drawing from her training and experience. She could feel the Alphas around her, their scents a constant reminder, but she fought to stay grounded. With each sprint, she channelled her frustration, proving to herself that she can¡¯t be kept down. Finally, being one point from winning, Lillian saw her opportunity. Jasper had the disc, and he was scanning the field, looking for her. She broke free from her tail, sprinting as fast as she could, her heart racing. The small crowd was roaring, and she could feel the adrenaline surging through her veins. ¡°Lillian!¡±Another one of her teammates shouted, and she felt an electric thrill surge through her as he launched the disc in her direction. She leaped, stretching her arm out, and this time, she caught it cleanly, landing in the end zone just as the Alpha caught up. Kael stood there, momentarily stunned after watching her break away from him, slipping past with an agility that caught him off guard. Confusion swirled in his mind - how had she managed to manoeuvre around him so effortlessly, stealing the point right from under his nose? He had been so focused on her presence that he''d let his guard down, and now, he could almost feel the weight of Reid''s impending frustration looming over him. As their eyes locked one last time, he saw a flicker in her gaze, and it only deepened his confusion. He was drawn to her, yet he couldn''t shake the feeling of being outmatched, leaving him both impressed and irritated as they turned to head back to their teams. ¡°That¡¯s game!¡±Jasper boomed, his voice echoing through the field.¡°Fuck yes, Lillian! That¡¯s our girl!¡± Lillian¡¯s team erupted in cheers, but as the reality of her situation settled in, she felt a wave of dizziness wash over her. The heat was undeniable now, simmering just beneath the surface as she caught her breath. She had won, but the battle was far from over. After the game, as the teams gather to cool down, Kael finds himself drawn back to Lillian. He watches her from a distance, noting the way she laughs with her teammates, the flush on her cheeks not just from the game but from the heat simmering beneath the surface. It stirs something inside him ¨C something annoying and frustrated. Deciding he can¡¯t let her slip away so easily, he approaches, feigning casual confidence.¡°Nice moves out there, Omega,¡±he says, stepping into her space just enough to assert his presence.¡°You really think you can keep that up?¡± Lillian looks up, surprise flickering in her eyes as they lock again. There¡¯s something electric in the air between them, and she feels her heart race.¡°What¡¯s it to you, Alpha?¡±she replies, her tone sharp but playful as she swayed her hips. As the conversation continues, Kael can sense the tension in the air ¨C namely the way the other Alphas are eyeing them, their instincts strained. He knows he should be focused on his team, and with her nearing her heat, it¡¯s becoming a volatile situation. ¡°Just trying to keep you on your toes,¡±he smirks, stepping even closer, forcing her to look up at him.¡°You shouldn¡¯t underestimate how the others will react. You might be the star of your team, but out here, it¡¯ll get messy.¡± Lillian feels a mix of irritation and intrigue at his words.¡°I can handle myself,¡±she decides, trying to project confidence despite the heat that¡¯s building inside her. Despite the knot twisting in her stomach at his stance before her, she opens her mouth to ask for his name, but the words feel dry in her throat. Kael studies her, noting the way her breath quickens and the way the scent of hesitation lingers in the air around them. In that moment, he realizes this isn¡¯t just about the game anymore; it¡¯s about more than that. The chemistry, and as he leans beside her ear, he can almost taste the tension. ¡°Just remember, Lillian,¡±he murmurs, his voice dropping to a low growl,¡°I¡¯ll be watching for you.¡± With that, he steps back, leaving her with a swirl of thoughts and emotions, knowing that their paths are now intertwined in ways neither of them can fully understand. Chasing Victory As Lillian stood on the field, the familiar scent of freshly cut grass and the distant sounds of cheering fans filled her senses, grounding her in the excitement of the upcoming tournament. It had been weeks since she had dealt with her heat - the intensity had been overwhelming, which she had anticipated after how stressful the pre-heat was. Throughout that time, though, one thought lingered, refusing to fade: the Alpha from Crestwood. He had become the sole fantasy that danced through her mind, the one daydream she couldn¡¯t shake, no matter how hard she tried. She didn¡¯t even know his name, but she couldn¡¯t keep her hands from between her legs when thinking of him. Every moment she spent in quarantine had been tainted with memories of their glances towards each other, his words, the way his body felt when he had her pinned. In past tournaments, she had battled against teams like Hawthorne and Carl Ridge - competitors who were tough and talented, but somehow, they felt distant. Their players were focused and disciplined, but there was a lack of personal connection, a sense of shared history that made their matchups feel more like business than a thrill. Lillian had pushed herself to the limit in those games, but the stakes never seemed as high, the victories never as sweet. She could excel against them, but the rush of adrenaline that coursed through her veins paled in comparison to what she felt now, standing against that Alpha and his team. When Lillian found out that they''d be going up against Crestwood again, she had felt unprepared. The anticipation of facing her Alpha again started a fire within her that had been smoldering since their last encounter. She knew that if she wanted to stand a chance against him and his team, she had to step up her game. The thrill of victory had been sweet, but the thought of repeating that success against Crestwood ¨C against him - was intoxicating. Without hesitation, she threw herself into her training. Every morning, she woke up before dawn to hit the gym, pushing her limits like never before. She worked the leg press, ran drills, and practiced her footwork, determined to sharpen her skills. Even in pre-heat she seemed to hold up, but with everyone on the field affected she figured it would be best to leave nothing to chance. Her teammates noticed the change in her demeanor. Lillian was restless and relentless. During practice, she challenged everyone around her, refusing to settle for anything less than her best. She encouraged her teammates to push themselves, too, knowing that they would need to be at the top of their game to take on Crestwood. The sense of camaraderie grew stronger, and they rallied around their shared goal of defeating the Alphas. Even on weekends, when others took time to relax, Lillian could be found on the field, perfecting her catches and practicing her strategies. The memories of her previous match against him fueled her determination. She recalled the thrill of outsmarting him in their last encounter, the rush that came with each successful play. But she also remembered the moments he had gotten the better of her, and she was determined to turn the tables this time. The thought of facing the big Alpha again was exhilarating and terrifying all at once. She wanted to show him that she was not just another opponent; she was a force to be reckoned with. Omega or not. With each passing day, her confidence grew, fueled by her hard work and the knowledge that she was preparing for the challenge of a lifetime. As she stood on the field, feeling the energy of the crowd building around her, Lillian couldn¡¯t shake the anticipation coursing through her veins. The atmosphere was charged as her team gathered, each member buzzing with energy and anticipation. Lillian could feel the adrenaline building within her, a powerful mix of excitement and nerves. The thought of seeing him again sent a thrill through her. Would she still feel that spark when they met on the field again? Or was it just the heat and proximity? ¡°Alright, team!¡± Jasper called, breaking her train of thought. ¡°Crestwood is tough, but we¡¯ve kicked their arses before. We¡¯ve trained hard. Let¡¯s show them what we¡¯re made of! Lillian, you know what to do - create space, use your speed, and keep your head in the game.¡± Lillian nodded, her heart racing. ¡°Got it!¡± she replied, her focus sharpening. As the teams warmed up, she caught glimpses of the Crestwood players, their confident stances and sharp movements exactly what she had remembered. But her eyes were searching for one player in particular, who she couldn¡¯t seem to find. Then, she spotted him. Kael stood tall among his teammates, grinning widely as their eyes met across the field. The moment felt charged, a silent homage to his words: ¡°I¡¯ll be watching for you.¡± That grin was infuriatingly charming, and it sent a surge of warmth through her. She hadn¡¯t been able to get him out of her head, and now, here he was, just as captivating as she remembered. When the whistle blew to signal the start of the match, Lillian felt the familiar thrill of competition take hold. She darted across the field, weaving through players with agility and precision. The cheers of her teammates fuelled her determination, and as she caught the disc, she felt a surge of confidence. With each play, she pushed herself harder, refusing to let his presence distract her. Instead, she channelled her thoughts of him into her performance. As the first half of the game unfolded, Lillian was unstoppable. Each time she caught the disc, she could sense his frustration growing as she outmanoeuvred him, leaving him scrambling to keep up. The more he tried to distract her, the more focused she became. He was no longer just a fantasy; he was a rival. With every sprint and dodge, she revelled in the thrill of the competition. The Alpha''s attempts to get under her skin were backfiring spectacularly. He watched as she executed impressive plays, her long blonde hair flowing behind her and her green eyes sparkling with determination. She was in her element; she truly was more than just an Omega. His frustration finally came to a breaking point. Lillian made a brilliant catch, landing in the end zone with a triumphant shout. ¡°Yes!¡± she exclaimed, adrenaline coursing through her veins. The cheers from her teammates rang in her ears, and she could see her tail standing there, momentarily stunned, his frustration evident as she trotted happily past him. Lillian had just secured another point for her team, and the thrill of victory surged through her as her teammates cheered her on. She felt a rush of confidence, ready to keep the momentum going. As they regrouped, Kael jogged over to his teammates, a frustrated look on his face. Mason, one of Kael¡¯s closest teammates, leaned in with a grin. ¡°So, what¡¯s the plan, Kael? You just going to let her walk all over you like that?¡± Kael shot him an incredulous look. ¡°What do you mean?¡± ¡°Come on, man. She just made you look bad out there. Start taunting her. Get in her head,¡± Mason suggested, a mischievous glint in his eyes. ¡°You know how Omegas get. If you can rattle her, you might just throw her off her game.¡± Kael considered this for a moment, his competitive nature flaring up. ¡°You think so?¡± ¡°Absolutely. She¡¯s tough, but everyone has a breaking point. Just push her buttons a little. It might give you the edge you need,¡± Mason replied, throwing an arm over Kael¡¯s shoulder. ¡°Besides, it¡¯s more fun that way.¡± With a nod, Kael turned back toward the field, his mind racing with ideas. He could see Lillian laughing and celebrating with her teammates, and he felt a spark of mischief ignite within him. If he was going to win back the momentum, he needed to play his cards right. Mason was right, Kael had forgotten that she¡¯s an Omega. He¡¯d been going too easy on her. As the game resumed, Kael took a deep breath and prepared to use his strategy. He would keep the banter light yet pointed, aiming to distract Lillian and regain the upper hand. ¡°Let¡¯s see how she handles a little pressure,¡± he murmured under his breath. Lillian maintained her focus, refusing to let his aggressive presence shake her confidence. She was determined to show him that she had grown stronger, both on and off the field. Kael, for his part, felt the pressure mounting. He could see how well she was performing, and it only fuelled his irritation. With each play, Lillian proved she was a much better player than he had seen before, channelling her energy into every sprint and catch. Kael was thrown off balance - not just by the game but by the chemistry and tension growing between them once again. This was no longer just a rivalry; it was a battle of wills, and Lillian was more than ready to claim her victory. As Lillian caught her breath, she couldn''t help but reflect on how odd the situation had become. Just hours before the game, she had been a bundle of nerves, her mind swirling with thoughts of the curly-headed Alpha - his smirk, the way he moved on the field, and the fantasies that had invaded her thoughts while she was in heat. The anticipation had left her anxious, worried that those daydreams would distract her during the match. There were more than a few things she wanted him to do to her, she worried those thoughts would get the better of her. But now, here she was, going head-to-head against him and somehow coming out on top. Was she really holding her own against one of the best players in the league? Or was he letting her win on purpose? She wasn''t sure. What she was sure of was that she needed to keep her head in the game and keep outrunning him. As the score tightened and game ran long, Lillian felt a rush of exhilaration. The atmosphere was electric, with the crowd on the edge of their seats, anticipation hanging thick in the air. Lillian felt the adrenaline coursing through her veins, her heart racing as she readied herself for the decisive play. Her focus was clear: win the game. The rivalry with the Crestwood Alpha had become a thrilling backdrop, but her priority was to stay sharp and keep him off her back. "Lillian, go!" Jasper shouted, his voice cutting through the noise as Vanessa launched the disc toward her. Lillian sprinted forward, determination fuelling her every step. She could feel his presence right behind her, his presence pressing against her resolve. As the disc soared through the air, she noticed Crestwood closing in, his eyes locked on her. "You know, Lillian," he called out, his voice smooth and low, "I can''t help but admire how good you look when you''re on the chase." Her cheeks flushed at his words, and she fought to shake off the warmth creeping up her neck. "Focus, Lillian," she muttered to herself, trying to drown him out. But he was relentless. "With moves like that, you''ll have everyone in the stands wishing they could keep up. Maybe I should slow down so you can catch me," he teased, the hint of a smirk on his lips. She gritted her teeth, her heart racing for many different reasons now. "What does that even mean?" she shot back, but even she could hear the slight quiver in her voice. She didn''t have time for distractions, especially when he had the power to fluster her so easily. As the game wore on, the score remained tied, each team battling fiercely for the win. Lillian found herself pushing harder, dodging defenders and working in sync with her teammates. Every time she looked back, her Alpha was there, shadowing her moves, a constant roadblock. Finally, with just one point left for either team to win, they executed a brilliant play, passing the disc flawlessly down the field. Lillian felt the surge of adrenaline as they neared the end zone. Jasper was open, and with a quick flick of her wrist, she sent the disc soaring toward him. But just as Jasper reached for it, Lillian''s tail lunged, trying to intercept. The disc slipped through Jasper''s fingers, and everything seemed to freeze. In that split second, Lillian reacted instinctively. She dashed forward, positioning herself between him and the disc as it tumbled to the ground. With a swift motion, she scooped it up, regaining control and pivoting to make her next move. "Nice recovery," He murmured, his voice low and taunting as he fell in behind her. "But I''m right here, Lillian. You''ll have to do better than that to shake me off." Support the author by searching for the original publication of this novel. Her heart raced at his proximity, but she pushed the feeling aside, focusing on the game. But his presence was intoxicating, and the way he leaned in, whispering just loud enough for her to hear, sent shivers down her spine. "Just imagine how good it would feel to catch me, too," he added, his tone suggestive. Lillian fought to keep her composure, her cheeks burning. "I - I''m not catching you. I don''t even know your name," she replied, her voice steadier than she felt. "That''s too bad, isn''t it?" he said, almost too close now, "But wouldn''t it be more fun to keep it interesting? How about a little bet?" She glanced at him, curiosity piqued despite herself. "What kind of bet?" she asked hesitantly. "If you win, I''ll let you call the shots next time we face off," he proposed, a playful glint in his eye. "But if I win, you have to let me take you out for a drink. Just the two of us. Think about it - a chance for some real fun." Lillian''s heart raced again, uncertainty mingling with excitement. "You''re serious?" she asked in disbelief. "Completely," he replied, his gaze steady and challenging. "So, what do you say? You in?" She hesitated, weighing the implications of his bet. The competitive streak in her reared it''s head, and she felt a rush. "Fine," she said, biting back her nerves. "I''m in." The Alpha''s smirk widened, a hint of victory in his expression. "Good. Let''s see what you''ve got." With the game still on the line, Lillian steeled herself, shaking off the momentary distraction. She wasn''t about to let him get under her skin - not now, not when victory was so close. The score was tied, and the teams were playing keep away at this point. As the minutes stretched on, the intensity of the game ramped up. Both teams fought hard, trading the disc back and forth before every point. Lillian''s heart raced as she dodged defenders, her focus razor-sharp. Finally, with just seconds remaining, Lillian spotted an opening. She sprinted down the field, the disc firmly in another teammates grasp. He finally caught a break in the defence and launched the disc across the field. Her teammates began blocking all around her, creating space as she approached the end zone. In a final burst of speed, she leapt into the air, catching the disc cleanly as she landed in the end zone. "Take that!" she shouted, exhilaration flooding through her as her teammates rushed to celebrate. The whistle blew, and the crowd erupted in cheers. Lillian reveled in the victory, feeling the weight of the game lift off her shoulders. She had done it. She had won, and now she was calling the shots for their next encounter. Whatever that meant. Her Alpha approached her, a mix of admiration and playful frustration in his eyes. "You got lucky today, Lillian," he said, though the smirk on his face belied any real annoyance. "Just remember, I''ll be ready next time." Lillian couldn''t help but grin as she met his gaze, her heart racing. "Oh, I''m sure you will be. Just don''t be upset when I outsmart you again. I''ll be calling the shots now, so you might want to practice keeping up." He chuckled, shaking his head in mock despair. "I guess I''ll have to work on my game. Sorry you can''t catch me next time, either." "Sorry? I''m not worried about you. I''m not that easy to catch," she shot back, her confidence soaring with the victory. "You''ll have to do better than that to keep me from scoring." He took a step closer, a glint of mischief in his eyes. "Oh, I plan to. You might want to watch your back, Lillian. I could always throw in a few taunts to throw you off your game. You don''t know what you''re getting into with the Crestwood Alphas." "We just beat all you Alphas twice; I think you''re a bit cocky." Lillian chuckled, feigning nonchalance. "And taunts? Really? That''s your best strategy? I thought you were more creative than that." "Just trying to keep it interesting," he replied, a playful smile spreading across his face. "But if you think you can handle it, I''ll see what I can come up with." She crossed her arms, a challenge brewing between them. "Bring it on, Alpha. I''m not afraid of a little trash talk. It might even make me play better." "A little spitfire, are we?" he teased, leaning in slightly as if to emphasize his point. "You should be careful. Confidence can be a double-edged sword. It might just lead to your downfall." "Or it could lead to my triumph, as backed by my two-win streak." Lillian countered, her heart pounding. "You never know how I might surprise you next time." With a mix of admiration and amusement, the Alpha took a step back, a thoughtful look on his face. "You''re a lot more than I expected out of such a little thing, Lillian. I''ll give you that. But I still think you underestimate me." ¡°Underestimate you? Never,¡± she replied, a playful smirk on her lips. ¡°But I suppose I am curious. What¡¯s your name? I feel like I should know who I¡¯m having this riveting banter with.¡± ¡°Kael,¡± he said simply, his tone light but his gaze intense. ¡°Kael,¡± she repeated, feeling the name roll off her tongue. ¡°Nice to officially meet you, Kael.¡± With a slight nod of acknowledgment, he turned to walk away, his confidence radiating as he did. Lillian felt a rush of warmth flood her cheeks, her heart pounding unexpectedly. There was something in the air, and as he walked off, she couldn¡¯t shake the feeling that this rivalry was just beginning. As Kael walked away from Lillian, the remnants of their conversation lingered in his mind. The banter was silly, but talking with her felt easy and fun. Crestwood was nearly all Alphas, so it was especially difficult to find anyone interesting enough to hold his feelings like this. But as he approached his team, that lightness began to evaporate, replaced by an atmosphere thick with teasing anticipation. Mason was the first to spot him, a sly grin spreading across his face. ¡°Look who¡¯s back from his little chat with the enemy. What¡¯s the matter, Kael? You look a little too pleased with yourself,¡± he called out, his tone dripping with mischief. ¡°Need some privacy to tug one out?¡± Kael rolled his eyes, trying to brush off the comment. ¡°It was just a conversation, Mase. Nothing to get worked up about.¡± But Mason wasn¡¯t having it. ¡°Oh, come on! We all saw the way she was checking you out. She¡¯s pretty fine, huh? I mean, have you seen the way she fills out that uniform? And that scent of hers? She smells intoxicating as hell. You¡¯d better make your move before one of us does.¡± ¡°Right?¡± another teammate, Jace, chimed in, leaning closer with a grin that suggested he was enjoying this far too much. ¡°She¡¯s got that whole Omega thing going for her ¨C she¡¯s soft, alluring, and you know she¡¯s got all the right things in all the best places.¡± ¡°If you don¡¯t want her, I might just have to take a shot myself. I mean, can you imagine how good she¡¯d taste when she¡¯s in heat? I bet it¡¯s something you¡¯d never forget.¡± Someone else chimed in. Kael felt his cheeks flush as the comments became sharper, the atmosphere becoming more charged. ¡°Can we not talk about her like that?¡± he said, trying to maintain his composure. ¡°She¡¯s not just some toy or prize.¡± ¡°Oh, don¡¯t pretend like you¡¯re not confident. We¡¯ve all seen you in the locker room. We all know you¡¯ve got something nice to offer,¡± Mason shot back with a wink, laughter in his voice. ¡°If you don¡¯t go after her, someone else will. You know how it is with Omegas - they¡¯re in high demand, especially one as fine as that one. She¡¯s too good-looking to let walk away without a little taste.¡± ¡°Yeah, and with her body, that scent, the little bit of fire¡ You know she¡¯d be a handful,¡± another teammate added, waggling his eyebrows suggestively. ¡°I bet she¡¯d appreciate a guy who can keep up with her, especially when she¡¯s in heat. Just think about it - how good she¡¯d taste, all sweet and intoxicating.¡± The problem was, he had thought about it before. Too many times. Late at night. Accompanied by a bottle of lotion and tissues. Which was exactly why this train of thought needed to be derailed. Kael felt a wave of discomfort wash over him. ¡°Seriously, back off. Lillian¡¯s not just some¡ snack or something. She¡¯s one hell of an opponent, and she deserves respect.¡± ¡°Respect? Come on, man. This is sports. It¡¯s all about the competition, and if you don¡¯t think she¡¯d appreciate a little tip, maybe some else needs to take a crack at being her blocker next time,¡± Jace replied, a challenge in his eyes. ¡°Besides, she¡¯s the kind of girl you don¡¯t just let slip away.¡± Kael clenched his jaw, irritation boiling just beneath the surface. ¡°You guys don¡¯t get it. This isn¡¯t just a game for me. I¡¯m not looking to make her uncomfortable or treat her like a conquest. She¡¯s more than a rival; she¡¯s someone I genuinely respect.¡± He had met this girl twice and was already breathing in the ash from the bridges he was burning defending her. Either he was just that desperate, or she was something special. He figured it was the latter, but maybe it was just stupid hormones from smelling her in pre-heat. Either way, this conversation is over and if anyone got to decide what to do with her, it was going to be him. His teammates exchanged glances, the teasing atmosphere shifting slightly. ¡°Alright, alright, we¡¯ll ease up. But it¡¯s hard not to notice how you¡¯ve been acting around her,¡± one of them said, a hint of seriousness creeping into his tone. ¡°Just don¡¯t let her slip away because you¡¯re too caught up to make a move. You know how quickly things can change in this league. We¡¯re being scouted all the time.¡± Kael took a deep breath, trying to shake off the discomfort that hung in the air like a thick fog. ¡°I appreciate the concern, but I¡¯m not going to chase after her just because you think I should. She¡¯s got her own game to focus on, and so do I. I respect her talents and what she brings to the field.¡± Jace raised an eyebrow, the smirk never leaving his face. ¡°So, what? You¡¯re going to just stand there and let the opportunity pass you by? You know, she¡¯s got fans. If you don¡¯t make a move, someone else will sweep her off her feet. And I wouldn¡¯t blame her if she did. Seems like a catch.¡± Kael felt his heart race, a mix of frustration and embarrassment washing over him. ¡°You think I don¡¯t know that?¡± he snapped, feeling the heat rise in his cheeks. ¡°But there¡¯s more to it than just physical attraction. I want to get to know her as a person, not just as a player or a potential fling.¡± The laughter around him quieted, replaced by a moment of surprise at his unexpected seriousness. ¡°Alright, we get it. Just remember, this is a competition. You have to be willing to take risks,¡± one teammate said, softer now, as if understanding the depth of Kael¡¯s feelings. With that, he turned away, the laughter of his teammates fading behind him as he walked off to gather his thoughts. The tension of their teasing lingered, but Kael couldn¡¯t shake the feeling that Lillian was different - she was more than just a rival, and he needed to figure out what that meant for him. He wasn¡¯t ready to confront those feelings just yet, especially not in the light of their pointed banter. All he could do was focus on the upcoming tournaments and the challenges that lay ahead.
Later, as Lillian celebrated with her teammates, Jasper pulled her aside, a curious look on his face. ¡°Hey, what was that all about with that Crestwood guy? You two seemed pretty... intense out there.¡± Lillian shrugged, trying to play it cool, but she could feel her cheeks heating up. ¡°It¡¯s just a rivalry. He talks a big game, but I won. Now I get to call the shots next time.¡± ¡°Right,¡± Jasper said, his tone teasing. ¡°But it seemed like there was a little more than just competition going on. You looked flustered.¡± ¡°I was not flustered!¡± she protested, though the smile tugging at her lips and the warmth in her cheeks betrayed her. ¡°It¡¯s just... he knows how to get under my skin.¡± Jasper raised an eyebrow, a knowing smirk on his face. ¡°Uh-huh. Just be careful, okay? Rivalries can blur the lines sometimes.¡± Lillian rolled her eyes, but inside, she couldn¡¯t shake the feeling that Jasper might be onto something. ¡°I can handle it,¡± she replied, trying to sound confident. ¡°I¡¯m still a good player. And no way would I let Crestwood have a win.¡± But as she spoke, her mind drifted back to her first encounter with Kael on the field before her last heat. The moment their eyes locked, something had sparked between them - an undeniable connection that sent a thrill through her. It was a feeling she hadn¡¯t expected, a mix of competition and something deeper, something that made her heart race. ¡°Lillian?¡± Jasper¡¯s voice pulled her from her thoughts. ¡°What¡¯s really going on? You seem distracted.¡± She sighed, her heart pounding as she considered her feelings. ¡°It¡¯s just... I can¡¯t shake this weird connection with him. Ever since we squared up on the field, there¡¯s been this tension. It¡¯s like he sees right through me, and it¡¯s both exciting and terrifying.¡± Jasper¡¯s expression softened, sensing the gravity of her words. ¡°That sounds intense. Do you think it¡¯s just the rivalry, or is there more to it?¡± ¡°I don¡¯t know,¡± she admitted, feeling vulnerable. ¡°Part of me enjoys the rivalry, but another part feels drawn to him outside of it. Like the rivalry is just an excuse to get to talk to him. It¡¯s confusing because I know I should be focused on the game, but every time I see him, I can¡¯t help but think about how he challenges me - not just on the field, but in ways I didn¡¯t expect.¡± ¡°Sounds like you¡¯re in deep,¡± Jasper said, his teasing tone replaced with genuine concern. ¡°Rivalries can turn messy, especially when feelings get involved. Are you sure you want to go down that road?¡± Lillian took a deep breath, weighing her emotions. ¡°I want to explore it, but I¡¯m scared of what it might mean. What if it distracts me from my training? What if it ruins our dynamic as competitors?¡± ¡°Or what if it makes you a better player?¡± Jasper suggested lightly. ¡°Sometimes, having that connection fuels your drive. But you have to be ready for the complications that come with it.¡± She nodded, absorbing his words. ¡°I know, but I can¡¯t help but think about how things would change if I let myself feel more for him. I don¡¯t want to lose that competitive edge, but the way he looks at me - it¡¯s different. It feels like there¡¯s something more beneath the surface.¡± As the celebration continued around her, Lillian felt the thrill of victory and the weight of her new challenge. She was ready to take on whatever came next, both on the field and off, and she couldn¡¯t wait to see how the dynamics with Kael would unfold. But as she looked back at her teammates, laughter ringing in her ears, she couldn¡¯t shake the feeling that the road ahead was going to be more complicated than she had anticipated. Deep down, she knew that her rivalry with Kael was shifting into something deeper, and that realization both excited and frightened her. The draw to him was undeniable, and with each passing moment, she wondered if she could balance the intensity of their competition with the pull of her growing feelings for him. With a frustrated breath, Lillian steeled herself. She had time to figure it out. She was ready to face whatever came her way, both on the field and in her heart, but she couldn¡¯t help but feel that her connection with Kael was just beginning to unfold. Breaking Point Lillian laid sprawled on the lush green grass, her long blonde hair fanned out like a halo around her head. The warm sun kissed her face, and the gentle rustle of leaves in the breeze created a soothing soundtrack to her thoughts. But despite the serene setting, her mind was anything but calm. It had been three long months since her team had faced off against Crestwood, and each passing day felt like an eternity. She had fought hard in many matches since then, battling against teams that challenged her skills and pushed her limits, yet nothing compared to the anticipation of facing Kael again. The tall, imposing Alpha had left an indelible mark on her - his confident demeanour, the intensity of his gaze, and that teasing smirk that both infuriated and excited her. The memory of their last encounter lingered like a sweet ache, a mix of rivalry and something deeper that tugged at her heart. Just as she was to be lost in her thoughts again, her phone buzzed insistently beside her, waking her from the daydream. Lillian reached for it, her heart fluttering with hope. She opened the group chat for her team, her eyes scanning the messages. And there it was - an announcement that sent a rush of excitement through her: ¡°Game set up with Crestwood in three days! Let¡¯s kick their arses a 3rd time!¡± A grin spread across her face, and she felt a surge of determination. The chance to face Kael again was finally here, and she couldn¡¯t wait to play against him again. Over the next few days, Lillian poured herself into training, pushing her limits as she imagined the game ahead. With every sprint and throw, she could almost hear Kael¡¯s voice teasing her, challenging her, taunting her. On game day, her nerves were on fire. Lillian arrived at the field with the rest of her team, her heart pounding in her chest as she took in the scene. Her teammates were warming up, laughter and shouts filling the air as the sun shone brightly overhead. But her gaze was drawn to the opposing team, and there he was - Kael stood among his Crestwood teammates, tall and confident, a wide grin lighting up his face as he bantered with them. He''s always more stunning in person, who knew dreams could be like that? The sight of him sent a rush of butterflies fluttering in her stomach. Gathering her courage, Lillian started toward the centre of the field, her heart echoing louder with each step. The world around her faded as she locked eyes with Kael, and in that moment, everything else seemed to disappear. It was like a magnet was pulling them, it made her heart skip a beat. As she reached the halfway point on the field with Kael, Lillian felt a mix of exhilaration and nervousness. ¡°Guess who¡¯s back to call the shots today?¡± she said, crossing her arms playfully, a confident smile on her lips. Kael chuckled, his hazel eyes glinting with mischief as he stepped closer. ¡°Guess who has a plan to throw you off your game this time?¡± he replied, the teasing tone in his voice sending a thrill through her. ¡°You might want to be careful.¡± He warned in a sing-song tone. ¡°Oh, please,¡± Lillian shot back, trying to maintain her composure despite the way her smile hurt her cheeks. ¡°You¡¯re going to have to try a lot harder than that. If I win, you take me out. And I intend to win.¡± ¡°Is that so?¡± Kael smirked, clearly enjoying their banter. ¡°Let¡¯s see if you can keep your focus amidst the chaos, then. I wouldn¡¯t underestimate me.¡± With each word exchanged, the tension between them thickened deliciously, crackling in the air. Lillian could feel her pulse thrum against her collar, the thrill of competition mixing with the undeniable chemistry that had been brewing since their first encounter. The excitement of facing him again was intoxicating, and she was determined to show him up again ¨C and get that date. As they both headed back to their respective sides, the teams finished warming up and preparing for the game. Lillian glanced over at Kael, who was standing off to the side with a towel draped around his neck. She assumed he was simply wiping away sweat, just like any other player would before the match. But as he casually rubbed the towel along his neck and forearms, Lillian felt a strange sense of anticipation. Little did she know, Kael was deliberately removing the blocking gel he typically wore - a strategic move designed to unleash his full, natural scent onto the field, drawing her attention and distracting her from the game. When she became engulfed by his unfiltered pheromones, she wouldn¡¯t stand a chance. None of the Alphas will be affected, even if they can smell it. When the whistle blew to signal the start of the match, Lillian took her position, her heart pounding with excitement. But as the game began and Kael moved into action, she caught a whiff of his scent and was instantly overwhelmed. His natural musk filled the air, rich and intoxicating, pulling her in like a siren¡¯s call. It was unlike anything she had experienced before, and it sent every sense spiraling. With each breath, Lillian felt as though the air around her was thickening, making it hard to think clearly. Hard to breathe. The moment Kael sprinted past her, she felt her legs weaken, the strength in them melting away like ice under the sun. The sheer intensity of his presence was staggering, almost debilitating. She struggled to remain focused as the smell of him enveloped her, making it difficult to concentrate on the game. ¡°Stay focused, Lillian!¡± she mentally urged herself, fighting to push through the haze. But with every inhale, she was drawn deeper into the intoxicating scent that wrapped around her like a silk blanket. It was maddening. As the game progressed, Kael played aggressively, darting around the field with a confidence that was infuriating. He didn¡¯t even have to block her because he already had her in her own little world. Every time he got close, the scent of him would wash over her, pulling her attention away from the match and onto him. It was as if he were a force of nature, and she was powerless against it. ¡°C¡¯mon, Lillian, pull it together!¡± she chided herself, shaking her head in an attempt to clear her thoughts. But it was no use; Kael was everywhere all at once, and the overwhelming need to focus on the game was becoming increasingly difficult. With each play, she sensed him closing in, his moves calculated and precise. The adrenaline that usually fueled her was now mixed with a desperate desire, making her heart race for all the wrong reasons. She could feel the tension building out of control. ¡°Focus on the game, not him,¡± she whispered under her breath, but as Kael¡¯s eyes met hers across the field, she felt her resolve break again. The thrill of competition was now tangled up with the chemistry they shared, and Lillian found herself caught in a hurricane of emotion - frustration, excitement, and a need she couldn¡¯t quite define. Didn¡¯t want to define. As the game wore on, Lillian felt the effects of Kael¡¯s pheromones intensifying, wrapping around her like a thick, intoxicating fog. The combination of confusion and desire made it hard to concentrate, and the warmth that spread through her body became increasingly distracting. She could feel a heat pooling in her core, and it made her acutely aware of how her shorts clung to her skin, dampening with each passing moment. With every sprint and movement, the scent of Kael curled in her stomach, igniting a feeling that she had never fully experienced before. Why was she reacting to him this way all the sudden? The way his musk filled the air was overwhelming, pulling at her instincts and causing her to leak slick against the fabric. It was terrifying, and Lillian struggled to reconcile the feelings swirling inside her. ¡°Focus, Lillian!¡± she mentally scolded herself, but the words felt futile against the tidal wave of sensations crashing over her. Every time she caught a glimpse of Kael, the heat in her core flared, and she found it increasingly difficult to compartmentalize her thoughts. The mix of frustration from missing plays and the arousal that his scent instigated left her feeling utterly conflicted. The dampness in her shorts only added to her embarrassment, and she could feel the fabric clinging uncomfortably, serving as a constant reminder of how much she was losing control. It was infuriating - she had trained for everything, but how could she have prepared for this? The line between competition and desire was blurring, and each time she inhaled deeply, it pulled her further into a haze of confusion. The worst part was, she wanted to fall into it. As her team fought hard to maintain their lead, Lillian felt like she was dragging them down. The tension on the field continued to rise, and every time the disc came near her, she panicked, fumbling the catch and sending it spiraling away. The sound of her teammates¡¯ frustrated shouts echoed in her ears, but all she could focus on was the way Kael moved through the game, his presence commanding and magnetic. Cocky. ¡°Why can¡¯t I just shake this off?¡± she thought desperately, her heart racing as she tried to push through the fog. Kael seemed to be everywhere, his scent enveloping her, and the electric pull of his energy was nearly impossible to resist. Each time she tried to get her bearings, the warmth pooling in her stomach would rise, drawing her attention away from the game and back onto him. Just when she thought she might be able to regain her focus, Kael darted past her, his strong form gliding effortlessly across the field. The movement sent another wave of heat through her, and she felt the slickness between her thighs increase, adding to her already heightened embarrassment. It was as if the game had transformed into an intricate dance, and she was lost in the rhythm of it, completely unable to find her footing. Lillian took a deep breath, her chest rising and falling rapidly as she fought to regain control. She couldn¡¯t let Kael¡¯s strategy unravel everything she had worked for. She had to dig deep, push past the haze of confusion and desire, and reclaim her strength on the field. But as she prepared to engage once more, the realization settled in - this was more than just a game; it was a test of her resolve, her focus, and her very identity. She would never be a top player if she let a little scent get in her head. As the game intensified, Reid shouted across the field, his voice booming with authority. ¡°Alright, Crestwood! Turn up the heat!¡± The command sent a ripple through the Crestwood players, their energy snapping into aggression. Lillian¡¯s heart sank as she realized what this meant: they had been using Kael¡¯s presence to throw her off her game, and now they were ready to unleash their full force on her team. Panic surged through her as she sensed the pressure mounting. With every aggressive move from Crestwood, Lillian felt her focus slipping further away. They were honing in on her, their tactics shifting to capitalize on her distraction. She could see it in their eyes - the determination to exploit her weaknesses, to push her off her game when she was already hanging by a thread. She attempted to pull herself together. Encourage herself, but the words felt meaningless. The overwhelming scent of Kael enveloped her, thick and intoxicating, squeezing around her chest. Each breath was heavy with his presence, and she struggled to think straight. The pheromones pulled at her instincts, igniting a confusing blend of desire and distraction that left her feeling utterly powerless. She had barely moved from the spot the game started in, she stood still, frozen. It took everything in her just to move a few steps. Every time she found herself wide open, ready for a pass, her teammates hesitated. They were caught up in the Crestwood onslaught, trying to fend off the aggressive players who were now targeting them with a newfound intensity. Lillian could see the frustration in their expressions as they struggled to get the disc out. It felt like an avalanche of pressure, and she was buried beneath it. ¡°Lillian, over here!¡± Jasper shouted, but when the disc sailed toward her, she couldn¡¯t react. Kael surged past her, his scent crashing against her, and she misjudged the catch, letting the disc slip through her fingers. The sound of it hitting the ground felt like a personal failure, and the mounting frustration from her teammates only added to her sense of helplessness. She was aware of the scoreboard tilting in Crestwood¡¯s favor, and quickly. This game practically just begun and it felt completely over. Lillian felt exposed, the weight of expectation bearing down on her. It was as if the more she tried to focus, the more the game slipped through her fingers. Crestwood was relentless, their aggression turning into a well-coordinated assault, and she felt entirely outmatched. Kael moved like a savior through the chaos, his presence useful to his team and disarming to her. She could see him glancing her way, a mix of pride and mischief in his eyes, and it sent a jolt of frustration through her. How could he take pleasure in this? It felt like a betrayal, the way he had turned their chemistry into a weapon against her. With every failed attempt to catch or throw the disc, her internal conflictions deepened. She had trained for everything, but this was beyond anything she had anticipated. The scent of Kael swirled around her, thickening the air and making it hard to think. She felt lost in a storm of confusion and desire, her thoughts spiraling faster as each moment shattered. ¡°Get it out of your head!¡± she screamed internally, but the more she fought against it, the stronger the scent became. Her body felt heavy, weighed down by the overwhelming sensations that flooded her mind. She could feel the dampness in her shorts, another fucking reminder of how deeply affected she was by him. It was infuriating. He was infuriating. Crestwood continued to press their advantage, the relentless pressure from their aggressive tactics left her team powerless, and every time they scored, it felt like another blow to the head. The sound of her teammates¡¯ frustrated shouts echoed in her ears, but all she could focus on was the way Kael owned the field, owned her, his confidence radiating while she faltered. The author''s narrative has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon. ¡°Why can¡¯t I just focus?¡± she thought, panic rising in her chest. She was capable of so much more than this, but the combination of Kael¡¯s scent and the Crestwood players swarming around her rendered her almost paralyzed. The game was sprinting away from her, and she felt trapped in the maelstrom. Lillian could sense the tide turning within her, she was quickly realising just how overwhelmed she truly was. The stakes were higher than ever, and the pressure to perform felt suffocating. With every passing moment, she felt the walls closing in, and her thoughts spiralled faster into the chaos, leaving her feeling more lost than ever before. As the tension mounted and the scoreboard increased for Crestwood, Lillian felt a wave of panic finally crash over her, hitting like a tidal wave against her fragile composure. Her heart raced, thumping loudly in her chest as if it wanted to escape, while shallow breaths filled her lungs with Kael¡¯s intoxicating scent, wrapping around her like a suffocating shroud. ¡°No, no, no,¡± she thought frantically, the world narrowing into a blur. The aggressive movements of Crestwood and the shouts of her teammates collided in her mind, creating chaos that felt impossible to escape. She wanted to escape. Had her feet not felt glued to the turf, she was ready to run as far away from here as she could. Each breath pulled her deeper into confusion, the weight of anxiety pressing down on her like a heavy stone. Her palms felt clammy, fingers trembling as heat pooled in her core, leaving her exposed and vulnerable. Lillian was drowning in a sea of uncertainty; her thoughts spiraled faster, racing through her mind like a whirlwind and she couldn¡¯t make them stop. ¡°What is wrong with you, Lillian?!¡± she screamed internally, but the words were lost in the storm. Kael¡¯s scent clouded her judgment, amplifying her sense of helplessness. ¡°Why can¡¯t I just get it together?¡± Desperation clawed at her chest, the realization that she was letting her teammates down continued to gnaw at her. ¡°Lillian!¡± Jasper¡¯s voice broke through the fog, cutting through the panic like a lifeline. ¡°We need you! Just breathe!¡± But it felt impossible. The scent of Kael intensified, and with it came a wave of heat that washed over her. She could barely register the game around her, the movements of her teammates blurring into a haze of colors and sounds. Her heart raced faster, and she felt the walls closing in, the world around her shrinking until it felt claustrophobic. ¡°Breathe, breathe,¡± she tried to remind herself, but it was like trying to grasp smoke with her fingers. The panic clawed at her throat, making it hard to swallow, hard to think. She could feel the tears brimming at the corners of her eyes, the overwhelming frustration threatening to spill over. ¡°Lillian! You¡¯re stronger than this!¡± someone shouted from the sidelines, and the words echoed in her mind. They believed in her, but how could she believe in herself when she felt so utterly lost? The pressure to perform, to succeed, felt insurmountable, and each second that passed only deepened her sense of dread. The only reason their tactic was able to work was because she let Kael get to her. She started this. She let this happen. Just when she thought she couldn¡¯t take it anymore, a flicker of clarity pierced through the haze. She remembered the purpose behind her determination - the countless hours of practice, the sweat and tears she had poured into becoming the player she was. She had fought hard for this moment, and she refused to let Kael¡¯s scent or Crestwood''s aggression take that away from her. ¡°Lillian!¡± Jasper¡¯s voice called again, finally being heard through her panic. ¡°You can do this! We have you! We need you!¡± That voice - her teammates¡¯ encouragement ¨C finally began to cut through the panic like a beacon of hope. It reminded her of who she was and what she was capable of. With a deep, shaky breath, she focused on their support, allowing it to anchor her in the storm. The scent of Kael still hung in the air, but it began to feel less like a chokehold and more like a challenge. As her heartbeat steadied, she felt the panic begin to recede, replaced by determination. She was not just a distraction; she belonged on that field. Suddenly, she heard Kael¡¯s voice, low and almost apologetic, as he whispered, ¡°You¡¯ve got this, Lillian. Don¡¯t let us get to you.¡± His unexpected encouragement confused her, but it also sparked something within her. He might be her opponent, but his words were exactly what she needed. With each ounce of strength she could muster, she pushed past the chaos, ready to reclaim her place in the game and prove to Crestwood that they could rise above the mockery they had made of Fector. Lillian surged forward, intercepting a pass intended for Crestwood, catching Kael off guard with her sudden appearance. The scent that once overwhelmed her was beginning to lose its hold on her. With her teammates finally rallying together, she pivoted and launched the disc to Jasper, fueling their momentum. Suddenly, Lillian found herself one-on-one with Kael again. The tension hung between them, but this time she was ready. With a fierce determination in her eyes, she feigned left and darted right, leaving him momentarily stunned. She sprinted down the field with the disc securely in Jasper¡¯s hand, and as he threw it to her for a point, the cheers of her teammates rang in her ears, drowning out the doubts that had threatened to consume her. All it took was her landing, and the next point was theirs.
The game concluded with a final score that didn¡¯t favour Fector, but as the players began to gather their gear, Lillian felt a surge of pride rather than disappointment. They had closed the gap significantly, and the atmosphere in the huddle was charged with a sense of accomplishment. ¡°I can¡¯t believe how far we came in that game,¡± she said, looking around at her teammates. ¡°We really pulled together, especially in the second half.¡± ¡°Totally! That last play where Dane intercepted that disc was epic!¡± Jasper exclaimed, his eyes alight with excitement. ¡°You guys turned everything around out there!¡± Lillian smiled. ¡°I couldn¡¯t stop thinking about all the hard work we¡¯ve put in. We really gave it our all out there,¡± Her heart swelled with pride for her team. ¡°Seriously, Lillian, you¡¯re one tough little cookie out there!¡± Sam chimed in, his voice brimming with enthusiasm. ¡°The look on Crestwood¡¯s face when you finally got the disc back was priceless. I could feel the energy shift as soon as you made that play!¡± ¡°Right? It was like a spark ignited in all of us,¡± Evan added, nodding vigorously. ¡°Once you got that interception, we knew we had a shot. It felt amazing to watch everyone rally around you. It reminded me of why we practice so hard.¡± Lillian felt a wave of warmth wash over her as she listened to her teammates. ¡°I think we all found a new level of trust in each other today. That¡¯s what makes us a team,¡± she said, looking around at the faces that had become so familiar over the season. ¡°Let¡¯s not forget how we all stepped up defensively,¡± Dane interjected. ¡°I mean, every time they got close, we pushed them back! It was like we were a wall.¡± ¡°Exactly!¡± Jasper said, grinning. ¡°And that last point? You all played like a well-oiled machine. It was beautiful.¡± Just then, Jasper cleared his throat, the playful energy shifting to a more serious tone. ¡°Everyone, can I have your attention for a minute?¡± His voice cut through the chatter, drawing the curious gazes of his teammates. They gathered closer, intrigued by the sudden change in atmosphere. ¡°I¡¯ve been waiting for the right moment to tell you all this, and I think today feels like the perfect time,¡± he said, his expression turning thoughtful. ¡°As the season is coming to a close, I want you to know that I¡¯ll be stepping down as captain soon.¡± A wave of surprise rippled through the group. ¡°What? Why?¡± Dane asked, his brow furrowing in concern. Jasper held up his hands, a reassuring smile on his face. ¡°It¡¯s not because I don¡¯t enjoy being captain or because I think we¡¯re not doing well. It¡¯s just that I believe it¡¯s time for someone else to take the reins. And I can¡¯t think of anyone better suited for the role than you, Lillian.¡± Lillian¡¯s eyes widened in shock as she snapped her eyes to Vanessa, who nodded with a smile on her face. A chorus of murmurs filled the air as her teammates processed the news. ¡°Me?¡± she echoed, the weight of the moment settling in. ¡°But I -¡± ¡°Absolutely,¡± Jasper interrupted, his tone earnest. ¡°You¡¯ve shown incredible leadership and resilience, especially in today¡¯s game. It¡¯s time for you to step into that role fully. I have no doubts that you¡¯ll lead us to even greater heights.¡± ¡°Wow, Jasper,¡± Lillian said, her heart racing. ¡°I¡¯m honored, but it¡¯s a big responsibility. Are you sure?¡± ¡°Definitely,¡± he replied, nodding firmly. ¡°You¡¯ve earned it. And don¡¯t worry; I¡¯ll still be around to help out and support you. Vanessa too. This team is in good hands with you at the helm.¡± The team erupted into cheers and applause, a few members ruffling her hair. ¡°You¡¯ll do great!¡± Evan called out, clapping her on the back. ¡°This is amazing!¡± Jay-Jay chirped, surprising people because he talked very little, usually. ¡°I can¡¯t wait to see what we accomplish together next season!¡± As the cheers and congratulations flowed, Lillian felt a swell of pride and anticipation. She had never expected to take on such a significant role when she started, but the encouragement from her teammates filled her with such excitement. They believed in her, and that belief ignited a fire within her to rise to the occasion. With everyone. ¡°Thank you, everyone,¡± Lillian said, her voice wobbly with excitement. ¡°I won¡¯t let you down. Together, we¡¯ll keep pushing and growing as a team. This is just the beginning!¡± With spirits lifted and a sense of camaraderie stronger than ever, the team continued to celebrate, their laughter and enthusiasm ringing out as they finished cleaning up and getting ready to go home. Lillian felt a mix of exhaustion and exhilaration. It had been a tough match, but the bond they formed through the struggle made her realize how close they truly were. She was ready to be captain. The bond among them felt unwavering, and she couldn¡¯t help but feel that they had crossed a threshold in their teamwork. ¡°Can you believe how far we¡¯ve come since the start of the season?¡± Evan mused, shaking his head in disbelief. ¡°We were all over the place, but now look at us! We¡¯ve become a real threat.¡± ¡°Let¡¯s keep this momentum going into the next game,¡± Lillian encouraged, her competitive spirit shining through her smile. ¡°If we keep pushing each other like this, we can go even further.¡± The team nodded in agreement; continuing to joke and laugh with each other. As they shared high-fives and exchanged playful banter, Lillian felt a deep sense of gratitude for each of them. They had fought hard, and the experience had not only strengthened their skills on the field but also deepened their connections off it. She knew some of these guys would be lifelong friends. Amid the chatter, Lillian caught sight of Kael across the field, talking with some of his teammates. A flicker of resolve settled in her chest. She wanted to confront him about his tactics, especially the way he had used his pheromones to throw her off her game. Gathering her courage, Lillian approached him. ¡°Kael,¡± she called, her voice steady despite the trembling emotions within her. He turned, momentarily surprised. ¡°Can we talk?¡± ¡°Sure,¡± Kael replied, his expression shifting from surprise to curiosity as he stepped away from his team, ignoring their jeers. ¡°About the game,¡± Lillian started, her heart racing as he guided her to a more secluded spot on the turf. ¡°I wanted to ask you about those pheromones you were using. It felt a bit unfair, but I have to admit, it was a brilliant tactic. I shouldn¡¯t have underestimated you.¡± Kael raised an eyebrow, a smirk playing at the corners of his lips. ¡°Thanks. It¡¯s part of the strategy, but I get how it can throw you off. You handled it well, though. Better than anyone I know.¡± Lillian took a deep breath, her curiosity piqued. ¡°But seriously, why were your pheromones so strong? I¡¯ve played against Alphas before, played against you, but I¡¯ve never experienced anything like that. It was overwhelming.¡± Kael¡¯s expression softened, and he seemed to consider her question carefully. ¡°It¡¯s not something I usually discuss, but I guess you deserve to know. I have Type 2A Theta Syndrome.¡± Lillian blinked, taken aback. ¡°Theta Syndrome? I¡¯ve heard of it, but I didn¡¯t know much about it. What does that mean?¡± ¡°It means my scent glands overproduce pheromones, especially during high-stress situations,¡± he explained, his tone serious. ¡°Typically, I wear gel blockers to help manage it, but I wiped it off right before the game started. That way you wouldn¡¯t suspect anything when we had our little chat.¡± ¡°That¡¯s why didn¡¯t I smell them this strong before?¡± Lillian asked, her brow furrowing in confusion. ¡°We¡¯ve played against each other multiple times.¡± Kael shrugged slightly, a hint of regret in his eyes. ¡°It varies by situation. When I¡¯m not under pressure, or when I¡¯m in a more relaxed environment, the blockers keep everything in check. But during games, sometimes they don¡¯t work perfectly. I had to reapply several times during that first game.¡± Lillian processed his words. ¡°So, is that all of it? Just the scent? Or is it dangerous?¡± She had heard of the dangers of Theta Syndrome, both in Alphas and Omegas. Kael tilted his head side to side, his expression thoughtful. ¡°It can be. If I go into a... erm... rut¡ without suppressants, there¡¯s an increased chance of getting into over-rut, which can lead to unpredictable behavior. In extreme cases, I have the chance to go feral. But I manage it well enough that¡¯s not quite a concern. Being Type 2 makes me way less of a danger to society than Type 1.¡± Lillian flushed at the thought of him in rut. He seemed a little flustered talking about it, turning his eyes away with a faint flush on his olive skin. ¡°Speaking of handling it,¡± Lillian said, leaning into the playful tension, ¡°remember our bet? If I won, you¡¯d have to take me out. But I never specified what would happen if you won.¡± He chuckled, his brown eyes sparkling with amusement. ¡°So, what happens now that I won?¡± ¡°Well, since you won, I think it¡¯s only fair that you have to go out with me,¡± she replied, a goofy grin spreading across her face. Kael laughed, clearly enjoying her antics. ¡°Alright, I can get behind that. I like your style.¡± Lillian felt her heart swell. ¡°I mean, you looked good out there. I can see why you¡¯re a top player. But next time, I won¡¯t let you get to me so easy - I promise you that.¡± ¡°Fair enough,¡± he said, his tone lightening. ¡°You definitely surprised me in the second half. That interception was clutch.¡± ¡°Thanks! I really wanted to win for my team,¡± she replied, a smile breaking through her competitive demeanor. ¡°You pushed me to be better.¡± ¡°Glad to hear that. You¡¯re a tough opponent, Lillian,¡± Kael said, his admiration all over his face. ¡°And I respect that.¡± Lillian paused, then decided to take a leap. ¡°So, how about we celebrate? Drinks or food? I think we both deserve it after that match.¡± Kael¡¯s eyes lit up. ¡°I¡¯d like that. It¡¯s a good way to turn this into something more friendly. And I¡¯d fulfill my obligation to go out with you.¡± He winked. ¡°Absolutely,¡± Lillian giggled, feeling the tension between them shift into something more relaxed. ¡°But just so you know, I¡¯m not going to go easy on you in the next game.¡± Kael laughed, a genuine sound that made her heart flutter unexpectedly. ¡°I wouldn¡¯t have it any other way.¡± As they walked off the field together, Lillian felt a sense of excitement mingling with the remnants of adrenaline. As they reached the edge of the field, Kael¡¯s playful expression turned slightly serious. ¡°You might want to change before we head out,¡± he said, his voice low and teasing. ¡°Your scent is a little distracting.¡± Lillian¡¯s cheeks flushed a deep shade of red as his words sank in. She had been so caught up in the game and their conversation that she had completely forgotten to change out of her shorts. The ones that got soaked in slick and sweat because of his pheromones during the game. ¡°Oh¡ fuck,¡± she stammered, feeling the embarrassment wash over her. Kael¡¯s smirk widened as he watched her reaction. Lillian quickly turned to trot off the field, her heart racing. ¡°See you soon!¡± He called as she glanced back at him. Kael just smiled, clearly amused. Lillian felt mortified as she left, but was excited about the idea of a new dynamic with Kael. As she thought about the possibility of their not-date, she couldn¡¯t shake the nerves, imagining how he would tease her. Without the game to focus on, the only thing to concentrate on would be him and those pretty eyes, drawing her in and making it hard to think straight. She wasn¡¯t sure if it was excitement or an overactive brain, but she couldn¡¯t seem to keep the smile to herself. Banters and Brews Lillian emerged from the restroom after changing, she felt glad she had decided to pack an extra set of clothes. She normally did, but hadn¡¯t needed it until today. She had brushed her hair out and let it fall freely around her shoulders, having her hair in a tight ponytail for the last 6 hours was less than ideal. As she glanced around, her eyes locked with Kael¡¯s. He stood there, still clad in his team jersey, typing something out on his phone. ¡°Hey, you look nice,¡± Kael said, looking up and sliding his phone into his pocket. He shifted his weight from one foot to the other, trying to mask his own nervousness. ¡°Are you okay with walking to a caf¨¦ nearby? I know a good one.¡± ¡°Yeah, that sounds great,¡± Lillian replied, feeling a bit shy. The thought of spending time together made her heart pound uncomfortably. She had felt much more confident asking him out earlier during their banter, now she was feeling nervous. As they began their walk, an awkward silence settled between them, punctuated only by the faint sounds of laughter and chatter from their teammates back on the field. Lillian fidgeted with the tags on her sports collar, feeling it constrict around her neck. It was a small comfort for games and practice, but now it felt out of place. ¡°Um, do you mind if I take this off?¡± she asked, glancing at Kael, her cheeks flushing a deeper shade of pink. ¡°Not at all,¡± he replied, trying to keep his eyes focused ahead, though the sight of her fidgeting made his heart race. Kael stole a quick glance at her, noting how nervous she seemed. With shaky hands, Lillian unbuckled the collar and slid it from her neck, rubbing where it had been. After tucking it into her bag, the cool air brushed against her skin and gave her a slight sense of relief. As an Omega, Lillian always found it safer to wear a collar during games or practice, or regularly when she was nearing her heat. Physical activity meant she would sweat, and that could cause her pheromone levels to spike, which was risky around all the Alphas. The collar came equipped with ID tags for safety in case anything unexpected happened, and it had patches designed to absorb any excess pheromones. The specially crafted leather also offered protection against bites. While it was a practical choice for her safety, it often felt a bit bulky and uncomfortable. She had figured Kael wouldn¡¯t mind seeing her without it on. ¡°So, have you been to R&R before?¡± Kael asked, breaking the silence as they walked. ¡°No, I haven¡¯t,¡± Lillian admitted, her curiosity piqued. ¡°But I¡¯ve heard good things about it. What do you like about it?¡± ¡°It¡¯s really cozy,¡± Kael explained, his expression thoughtful. ¡°Sometimes, our team goes there after practice to grab some food and unwind. It¡¯s nice to relax and joke around after a long practice - especially since we¡¯re always training so hard.¡± ¡°I bet. Fector does something similar, but we have places on campus we go to. What do you usually get?¡± she asked. ¡°I usually go for the classic sandwiches or their weekly specials,¡± he replied, recalling the many evenings spent there with teammates. ¡°It¡¯s one of those places where you can bond with everyone, especially after scrimmages. Just a chance to laugh off the tension of being on opposing sides. Crestwood guys tend to get a little too competitive against one another.¡± Lillian nodded, she had picked up on hints of that behaviour from them before. ¡°I can see how that would be fun. It¡¯s important to have that time together. Good team bonding. Knowing what I know about Crestwood, I bet the competition is still fierce, even over food.¡± Kael chuckled, glancing at her. ¡°Oh, you have no idea! There¡¯s a lot of trash talk about who can eat the most cookies. It¡¯s serious business.¡± Lillian laughed, her cheeks still flushed but now with amusement. ¡°I¡¯ll have to keep that in mind when we face off next time. I wouldn¡¯t want to lose a cookie-eating contest.¡± As they walked a few paces in silence, both felt the weight of their nervousness. Kael glanced over at her again, stealing another quick look. ¡°You know, I think I¡¯ll need to challenge you to a cookie-eating contest next time one happens,¡± he joked, trying to break the tension. ¡°I can¡¯t let you show me up on my turf again.¡± Lillian¡¯s laughter bubbled up again, and for a moment, the nerves dissolved into shared comfort. ¡°That sounds like a plan,¡± she said, her heart steady at the thought of a more friendly rivalry. Yet, despite the jokes, an underlying tension remained. Why was it so much easier to banter on the field? During all three tournaments, they exchanged playful jabs and quick comebacks without a second thought. But now, every word felt loaded, every glance filled with uncharted territory. ¡°Maybe we should practice our banter,¡± Kael suggested, trying to keep the mood light as they approached the caf¨¦. ¡°It seems like we¡¯re better at that when we¡¯re running the field.¡± Lillian was glad Kael seemed to share her feelings. ¡°Right? Why is it so much easier to be silly when we¡¯re tossing plastic around?¡± Lillian replied, rolling her eyes in amusement. ¡°I don¡¯t remember being this awkward during any of the games.¡± ¡°Maybe we need to up our game,¡± Kael said with a playful grin. ¡°You know, more practice outside of the field. I¡¯m sure we can come up with some great lines over coffee.¡± Lillian chuckled, wondering if he was just trying to find an excuse to go out again another time. As they continued walking toward Roast and Roost Caf¨¦, the warm glow of the windows became more inviting, but their moment of ease was abruptly interrupted. A group of Crestwood players emerged from the entrance, boasting laughter spilling out into the cool air. They spotted Kael and Lillian, their eyes lighting up with mischief. ¡°Look who it is! Thought we¡¯d find you here. Kael on a date!¡± one of them shouted, a grin spreading across his face. The others erupted in laughter, clearly enjoying the chance to tease him. ¡°Aw, man, don¡¯t get all soft on us, Kael!¡± another chimed in, elbowing his friend playfully. ¡°What¡¯s next? Gonna start knitting sweaters with her?¡± Lillian felt her cheeks heat up, her initial excitement about seeing Kael quickly overshadowed by the playful jabs. She glanced at Kael, who was trying to maintain his composure, though she could see the slight twitch of a annoyance threatening to break through. He sent Lillian a quick look, something in his eyes as he stepped forward. ¡°Hey, at least I¡¯m able to pick up someone like her,¡± Kael shot back. ¡°You guys wish you had someone like her on your arm.¡± The Crestwood players exchanged glances, surprised by Kael''s reaction, but they weren¡¯t done yet. ¡°Sure, sure! Just don¡¯t let her outpace you, man! We all know how fast those Omegas can be!¡± one of them quipped, winking at Lillian. Lillian looked at the team incredulously. ¡°Yeah, just remember to keep up! Wouldn¡¯t want her leaving you in the dust!¡± another added, laughter ringing in the air. Lillian couldn¡¯t help but giggle at the absurdity of it all, despite the teasing. ¡°I promise, I won¡¯t leave him behind,¡± she said with a playful smile, trying to turn this into something lighthearted. Kael looked at her, a soft smile breaking across his face. The banter continued for a moment longer before the Crestwood players decided they had had their fun. ¡°Alright, have a good time, you two! Don¡¯t do anything we wouldn¡¯t do!¡± one of them called out suggestively as they turned to walk back toward campus, their catcalls trailing behind them. Once the group was out of earshot, Lillian turned to Kael, trying to gauge his feelings. ¡°Sorry, I was hoping to get them off your back a little,¡± she said, her expression a sympathetic. ¡°They seem to enjoy teasing you.¡± Kael groaned, rolling his eyes as he opened the door for her. As they stepped inside the caf¨¦, the comforting warmth enveloped them, and Lillian inhaled the rich scent of coffee and baked goods. They found a small table by the window and settled into their seats, the earlier teasing still lingering in the air. ¡°Really, I¡¯m sorry about them,¡± he said, shaking his head. ¡°The Crestwood guys are just... toxic. They have this way of harassing anyone for anything they can. It¡¯s like they can¡¯t stand to see someone step outside their little box.¡± Lillian looked at him, curious. ¡°What do you mean?¡± ¡°They just think it¡¯s funny to pick on each other, and if someone shows any sign of being different, they¡¯ll pounce,¡± Kael explained, his voice steady but frustrated. ¡°It¡¯s all about maintaining this image of being tough, and if you don¡¯t fit that mold, they¡¯ll make you regret it.¡± ¡°That sounds exhausting,¡± Lillian said, frowning. Kael shrugged. ¡°For them, it¡¯s about power. They think if they can make someone else feel small, it somehow elevates them. It¡¯s pathetic, honestly. I don¡¯t mind being teased, but when it crosses the line into bullying, it gets old fast.¡± Lillian nodded. ¡°I can see how that would be tough to deal with, especially being on the same team.¡± ¡°Yeah, it¡¯s frustrating. But I try not to let it get to me. I¡¯d rather enjoy time with people who actually matter,¡± His eyes held a silent ¡°Like you¡±. Lillian fiddled with her hands under the table. As they sipped their drinks, Kael''s expression turned contemplative. ¡°You know, the whole toxic culture isn¡¯t just limited to the teasing. It affects a lot of things, especially when it comes to how the team is viewed,¡± he said, glancing out the window for a moment. ¡°Crestwood gets scouted a lot because of our reputation, but honestly, I¡¯m hoping to get out of here someday.¡± Lillian raised an eyebrow. ¡°Really? What do you mean?¡± ¡°I mean, while the talent is there, I don¡¯t want to be lumped in with all that negative energy,¡± Kael explained, his voice steady. ¡°I¡¯d like to think I¡¯ve got more to offer than just being another player on a team known for its toxicity. I want to play somewhere where the focus is on teamwork and support, not competition and bravado.¡± ¡°That makes sense,¡± Lillian replied, nodding. ¡°That¡¯s honestly why I love being on Fector¡¯s team. I feel like I¡¯m on a team with all my friends.¡± ¡°Exactly,¡± he said, stress in his tone. ¡°I¡¯ve been working hard, and I hope a scout sees that. I want to prove that I can thrive in a place where players lift each other up instead of tearing each other down.¡± Lillian smiled warmly. ¡°I believe you¡¯ll get there. It takes a lot of courage to want more than what¡¯s handed to you.¡± Memories flooded back of her own journey. She remembered how hesitant she had felt stepping onto the field for the first time, surrounded by tall, imposing Alphas. The anxiety had gripped her, making her feel small and out of place even among the few Betas. In those early moments, it seemed like no one wanted to give her a chance to prove herself, and she had questioned whether she truly belonged. It was as if she had to carve out a space for herself in an environment that hadn¡¯t welcomed her. But with each successful catch, her confidence began to blossom, and she felt a sense of belonging she hadn¡¯t experienced before. The genuine version of this novel can be found on another site. Support the author by reading it there. ¡°Thanks,¡± he said, his expression soft. ¡°It means a lot to hear that. I just want to find a team that feels like home, somewhere I can really grow and be myself - without all the toxic noise.¡± Their conversation began to flow easily, and Lillian felt a deep sense of connection with Kael - something more profound than what she experienced on the field. She never thought she¡¯d meet someone - especially an Alpha - who felt just as out of place as she once did.
As the night deepened and the caf¨¦ prepared for its last call, Lillian and Kael stepped outside, the cool air sending a chill up their spines. The warm glow of the caf¨¦ faded behind them, but conversation still lingered in the air. ¡°Do you ever think about what you want to do after college?¡± Kael asked, breaking the comfortable silence and sliding his hands into his pockets. Lillian glanced over, tilting her head as she thought. ¡°Honestly, I¡¯ve been so focused on playing and keeping up with classes that I haven¡¯t thought much beyond that. I originally thought I¡¯d become an art teacher. I love to make art and working with the kids, but since discovering frisbee, I¡¯ve felt this pull toward the sport. It feels more fitting for me now.¡± Kael raised an eyebrow, intrigued. ¡°Really? That¡¯s interesting. What made you switch gears?¡± ¡°I guess it¡¯s just how alive I feel when I¡¯m playing,¡± she explained, a smile creeping onto her face. ¡°Frisbee has brought me a sense of community and excitement that I didn¡¯t find in the studio. I love the teamwork, the competition, the thrill of the game. It makes me want to keep doing this somehow, maybe coaching or organizing events for others.¡± ¡°That sounds fitting,¡± Kael replied, nudging her side with his arm. ¡°You¡¯d be a great coach. You have this energy that could really benefit a team.¡± ¡°I hope so,¡± Lillian said, thinking briefly about becoming the captain of Fector¡¯s team. ¡°But what about you? You seem to have so many interests. Have you thought about what you might want to do?¡± Kael shrugged, breathing heavily out of his nose. ¡°I¡¯m not really sure. I like sports, obviously, but I also enjoy a lot of different things - like business. It¡¯s tough to narrow it down when I feel like I¡¯m still figuring myself out.¡± ¡°Yeah, I get that,¡± she said. ¡°It¡¯s okay not to have everything mapped out. I think a lot of people are in the same boat. It¡¯s part of the journey, right?¡± ¡°Yeah,¡± he replied, a small smile breaking through. ¡°I just hope I find something that feels as right for me as frisbee does for you. I also hope I¡¯m not the last one to figure it out.¡± As they continued walking, Lillian felt comfort and connection building between them. The night had started off awkwardly, but now she wasn¡¯t sure she wanted to be anywhere else. The conversation had shifted from their dreams to small anecdotes about their experiences in sports. Kael shared a funny story about a time he tripped during practice, while Lillian recounted her most embarrassing moment on the field. By the time they reached the edge of the field, she realized that this was exactly where she wanted to be. ¡°I really appreciate how open we¡¯ve been with each other tonight,¡± she said, her heart thumping in her ears as she faced him. ¡°It¡¯s not often I find someone who understands me.¡± ¡°Same here,¡± Kael replied, his voice sincere. ¡°I¡¯m glad we had this talk. It feels good to share things with someone who gets it.¡± As they stood at the edge of the field, the air around them felt charged with anticipation and too many unspoken words. Lillian met Kael¡¯s gaze, and for a moment, the world around them seemed to stop. The stars seemed a little brighter, and the wind seemed to slow. She felt the urge to lean in, to close the distance between them, but the weight of their thoughts held her back. Kael¡¯s eyes flickered with uncertainty, mirroring her own feelings. ¡°Uh, so¡¡± Lillian stammered, breaking the spell and looking away. ¡°We should hang out again. I mean, I had a lot of fun tonight.¡± Kael nodded, a small smile on his face. ¡°Yeah, I¡¯d like that. We should plan for something soon, maybe grab coffee or go for a walk. Just something fun.¡± ¡°Sounds perfect,¡± she replied, already looking forward to it. With a playful grin, Lillian suggested, ¡°How about we exchange numbers? That way, we can make sure this isn¡¯t just a one-off thing.¡± ¡°Good thinking,¡± Kael said, pulling out his phone. ¡°I¡¯d hate to have to wait until our next game to hear from you again. I¡¯ll text you first, so you have my number.¡± As he entered his information into her phone, their fingers brushed against each other, sending a small thrill through her. ¡°You know, I think we make a pretty good team,¡± he said lightly, his voice filled with warmth. ¡°Definitely,¡± she agreed, feeling the warmth of their connection. ¡°Maybe this is something we could keep going?¡± She asked, giving him a shy smile. Kael nodded. ¡°I¡¯d like that.¡± With their numbers exchanged, they both lingered for a moment, the air filled with a bittersweet tension. There was an undeniable spark between them, and while they hadn¡¯t crossed that line into a kiss, they both felt it - a feeling that hinted at something more. ¡°Alright, I guess I¡¯ll see you soon, then?¡± Kael said, his tone carrying an hint of reluctance. ¡°Definitely,¡± Lillian replied, her heart fluttering at the thought of their next meeting. But as she turned to walk toward her car, she felt a pang of sadness. It was hard to leave this moment behind, especially with the promise of more hanging in the air. Kael watched her walk away, his smile fading slightly as he felt the distance growing between them. He wished he could call her back, to extend this night just a little longer. Lillian glanced back over her shoulder, catching his gaze for a brief moment, and her heart ached at the thought of leaving him there. As she climbed into her car, Lillian couldn''t shake the feeling of wanting more time with him. She knew this wasn¡¯t the end; they had connected in a way that felt special. But as she started the engine and pulled away, she wished for just a few more minutes, to linger in that sweet uncertainty a little longer. Kael stood there, his breath caught in his throat, watching her until she turned the corner and vanished from view. The night felt cooler without her presence, and an unexpected heaviness settled in his chest. He couldn¡¯t shake the feeling that this was just the beginning of something significant, something he hadn¡¯t anticipated but desperately wanted to explore. As he turned to walk back toward campus, he replayed their conversation in his mind, the way she laughed, the way her eyes lit up when she talked about¡ anything. It all felt so genuine, and he found himself smiling despite the lingering sadness from her leaving. He could already envision their next outing, the playful banter they would share, the way she would challenge him. Both of them knew they had somehow stumbled upon something worth pursuing, a connection that was rare and beautiful. With a hopeful heart, Kael made a mental note to text her first thing in the morning, maybe keep the momentum going.
As the summer sun blazed down on Crestwood''s field, Lillian and Kael were fully immersed in their Wednesday tradition of afternoon frisbee. The warmth of their first date brought with it a sense of joy, and the two of them had made a point to carve out this time for each other amidst their busy schedules. It became substantially easier after their classes had let out for the summer. After months of texting and phone calls, they found conversation and time-spent came much easier. Naturally. Today, the air was alive with the sounds of laughter and the rhythmic thud of their cleats against the turf. Lillian had donned her favorite sporty tank and shorts, her hair pulled back in a loose ponytail. She felt the adrenaline rush through her as she sprinted across the field, executing quick cuts and precise throws. Kael, clad in a loose white t-shirt, chased after her with a playful determination, his energy infectious. "Nice catch!" Kael shouted, as Lillian effortlessly snagged the frisbee he tossed her mid-air, her movements graceful and fluid. "Thanks! You''ve got to keep up, though!" she teased, throwing the frisbee back to him with a flick of her wrist. With a determined grin, Kael sprinted to the opposite end of the field, ready to receive her throw. "Alright, bring it on! I''m not going to keep going easy on you!" As they played, the sun beat down, casting long shadows on the grass. They took turns tossing the frisbee back and forth, each throw accompanied by laughter and light-hearted banter. After a particularly exhilarating rally, they decided to pause for a break, both flopping onto the grass, breathing heavily but grinning from ear to ear. "Okay, I think I officially need a water break," Kael said, stretching out on the grass beside her. "You''re way too fast for me today!" Lillian laughed, wiping the sweat from her forehead. "You''re just letting me win! I know you don''t want to crush my spirit or anything." "Crush your spirit?" he replied, feigning shock. "Never! I''m just trying to keep up with the Alpha of the field here." "Alpha, huh? Maybe I should start charging you for lessons," Lillian quipped, a playful glint in her eyes. "Only if I get to book more of your time," Kael shot back playfully. Their playful banter was interrupted when a figure approached them, an Alpha dressed sharply in a crisp polo shirt and tailored shorts, exuding an air of confidence that was hard to ignore. "Excuse me, Rosaleen and De Luca?" he asked, his voice smooth yet commanding. "Do you mind if I have a moment of your time?" Lillian and Kael exchanged curious glances, intrigued by the unexpected interruption. "Uh, sure," Kael responded as they stood up and brushed grass off their clothes. The Alpha smiled, extending his hand. "I''m Adrian from the Cypress City Flyers program. I''ve seen you both play, and I was hoping to chat with you about joining our program." "Nice to meet you, Adrian," Lillian said, shaking his hand. "What kind of program?" Adrian gestured to the side and handed them a couple of neatly printed flyers. "C2F is a well-known program with a focus on developing talent while maintaining a fun, competitive atmosphere. We have a solid reputation for nurturing players and helping them reach their full potential." He looked at each of them, gauging their interest. "I''ve been watching you both play, and it''s clear you have a lot of potential. I was actually expecting to find one of you here, but it seems fate has brought me both." Kael raised an eyebrow, glancing at Lillian before looking back at Adrian. "That sounds interesting, but we''re on our own teams right now." "Of course," Adrian replied, waving his hand dismissively. "I''m not asking for an answer now. I just wanted to put the option on the table." He handed them both a business card. "You can reach out to me directly if you''re interested. I think you''d both be fantastic assets to the team." Lillian felt a mix of excitement and hesitation as she looked at the card in her hand. "Thank you, Adrian. We''ll definitely think about it." "Great," he said, flashing a confident smile. "I''ll be around, so don''t hesitate to reach out. I genuinely hope to see you both on the field again soon." With that, he turned and walked away, leaving Lillian and Kael staring at each other in surprise. "What do you think?" Lillian asked, her voice a mix of enthusiasm and uncertainty. "It sounds like a great opportunity." Kael nodded, still processing the unexpected encounter. "It does. But it''s also a big commitment. Although, I''ve really been hoping to get noticed by a scout to help me get out of Crestwood. This could be the chance I''ve been waiting for." "True," she replied, biting her lip thoughtfully. "I''m not sure though. I''m supposed to be Fector''s new captain in a few weeks. But on the other hand, it could be a chance for us to grow even more. Plus, we could be on the same team! Imagine that." Kael chuckled at that, his eyes twinkling with mischief. "You just want to keep me in check, huh? Can''t let me get too comfortable out there." "Uh-huh," Lillian hummed, a playful smirk on her face. "I can''t have you thinking you can keep up with me forever!" As they gathered their things and prepared to leave the field, Kael''s expression shifted slightly, a hint of awkwardness creeping in. "Um, hey, Lillian... do you want to come over to my place for a bit?" he asked, rubbing the back of his neck. "I mean, we''ve only hung out in public so far, and it might be nice to just chill somewhere more... private." Lillian felt her heart race at the suggestion, a mix of excitement and nervousness flooding her senses. They had never spent time alone together, and the thought of being at his place sent her mind spinning. "Uh, yeah, that sounds nice," she said tentatively, her voice barely above a whisper. Kael''s face lit up with a smile, but he quickly masked it with a playful shrug. "No pressure, of course! I just thought it could be fun. We could watch a film or something." "Yeah, a film sounds good," Lillian replied, her mind racing with the possibilities of what it would be like to hang out in a more private place. "What do you have in mind?" "I''ve got a few comedies and some action flicks. We could go for something light-hearted, or if you''re feeling adventurous, I might have a horror film or two," he suggested, a teasing glint in his eye. "You don''t get scared, do you?" "Oh please," she laughed, feeling a wave of relief wash over her. "I''m not scared, but I''m not sure I''m ready for a horror film yet." "Fair enough," Kael said, grinning. "Then I promise not to scare you away. Just good times and laughs." As they walked off the field together, Lillian felt a thrill at the thought of spending time with him in a quieter setting. She was surprised to receive an offer from Adrian; when she started playing, she had no desire to be scouted. Now, the idea sounded exciting, especially if she could have Kael by her side. Playing against him had been both fun and challenging, but she could only imagine how amazing they''d be together as teammates. With each step, her heart raced in anticipation, and she couldn''t help but wonder what the evening would hold. There was so much to consider. In just a few weeks, she would be stepping into the role of captain for her team, a position she had worked hard to earn. She had built strong bonds with her teammates and felt ready to lead them into the next season, all while balancing her schoolwork. As they approached Kael''s apartment complex, her thoughts danced between the possibilities that lay ahead for both of them. Would Kael decide to explore Adrian''s offer? Would his hopes of getting scouted lead him away from Crestwood, just as he had always dreamed? Regardless of what the future held, she knew Kael wouldn''t completely leave her behind, no matter what choices they each made. As overwhelming as all the decisions felt, she figured that this was just the beginning. The Space Between Words Lillian and Kael stood outside his apartment door, the dim hallway echoing with distant laughter and chatter from other units. The weight of the moment settled heavily on their shoulders as they prepared to step through the door. Kael shifted nervously, glancing at Lillian, who looked equally as apprehensive. "Here we are," he said, his voice low. With an awkward smile, he opened the door, gesturing for her to enter. "It''s not much, but it''s home." As Lillian stepped inside, she took in the modest d¨¦cor - sports posters hung on the walls, and a cozy couch occupied the centre of the living room. The scent of fresh laundry mingled with remnants of takeout, giving the space a lived-in feel. It was cozy, yet the atmosphere buzzed with an undercurrent of nervous energy. Despite the months of chatting and spending time together, things suddenly felt like they were walking too close to an edge. Kael closed the door softly behind them, and as they moved to the couch, he could feel his heart palpating. "I hope it''s okay," he said, rubbing the back of his neck, trying to mask his own nerves. "It''s lovely," Lillian replied with a smile, her cheeks slightly flushed. The warm couch felt inviting, and the soft glow from a nearby lamp made the moment feel much softer. They settled on the couch, the anticipation in the air thickening with each passing moment. Kael could sense the tension but hoped a film would help ease it. "Still down for a film?" he asked, reaching for the remote, "I thought of a few." "Sure, what do you have in mind?" Lillian asked, her curiosity piqued. "I''ve got a few comedies lined up. Might fit the mood?" Kael suggested, scrolling through the options. "That sounds good," Lillian replied, her initial nervousness softening slightly. Kael selected a film, and as the opening credits began to roll, he glanced over at Lillian. She was leaning forward, her eyes focused on the screen, but he could see the thoughts swirling beneath the surface. Conversation from the film filled the room, but the tension lingered in the air. Every breath felt like uncharted, dangerous territory. As the film played, they exchanged glances, each moment feeling laden with unspoken words and possibilities. The couch enveloped them, and for the first time, they could truly feel the weight of their time together ¨C a mix of uncertainty and warmth. They''d both talked a big game, but the truth was, neither of them were looking to play whatever game this was. With each passing scene, Kael felt the distance between them close in, the space around them settling into an unspoken bubble of shared experiences and dreams yet to be discussed. This was never going to be a causal hangout; not with everything they''d been through together. From Lillian''s pre-heat when they met to Kael''s enchanting pheromones, they''d always been drawn to each other one way or another. There are some things, some paths, some feelings that can''t be ignored. Lillian found herself lost in the moment, the warmth of the couch and the gentle rhythm of Kael''s breathing. She hesitated for a moment, her heart racing as she considered taking a risk. Finally, with a deep breath, she leaned into him, resting her head on Kael''s shoulder. She attempted for the motion to be casual, but only seemed to spark further feelings. Kael''s breath hitched at the contact, a rush of warmth flooding his body. He could feel the heat radiating from her, and as he tried to maintain his composure, a strong internal struggle began to brew within him. The sensation of her weight against him stirred something deep inside, an undeniable arousal that he fought to suppress. Every inch of his body was tingling, and he could feel the tension mounting as he grappled with the confusion of wanting to pull her closer while also simultaneously wanting to move far away. Lillian shifted slightly, snuggling in deeper, and Kael''s resolve wavered. He could sense the pressure growing, the air thick with unspoken words and desires that neither of them dared to acknowledge. He clenched his jaw, trying to focus on the film, but all he could think about was how perfect it felt to have her so close. The closeness between them heightened their senses, particularly Lillian''s, as she became all too aware of Kael''s restlessness beside her. It wasn''t just the warmth of his shoulder beneath her head or the gentle rise and fall of his chest that captivated her; it was the scent that surrounded him - his unique blend of deodorant, scent blockers, and the pheromones as they broke through. As she breathed in, Lillian felt his scent envelop her - rich and alluring. It was potent, awakening feelings within her that she had barely acknowledged outside her heat until now. It filled her senses and sent a dizzying rush through her, making her heart race. She instinctively leaned in closer, drawn to the source of that intoxicating aroma, but the world around her began to blur as excitement and longing washed over her. "Are you okay?" Kael asked, his voice tinged with concern as he glanced down at her. The sincerity in his gaze deepened her feelings, but also made her feel more shy. "Yeah, just... a little overwhelmed," Lillian admitted, her voice barely above a whisper. "Your scent... it''s really strong right now." Kael felt a rush of warmth flood his cheeks, realizing what he''d inadvertently done. He had tried to maintain control, to keep his arousal in check, but being this close to Lillian made it nearly impossible. Her admission hit him like a jolt; he hadn''t fully grasped how much his pheromones could affect her. The idea that she could smell his arousal sent a wave of embarrassment through him. "I didn''t realize it would affect you like that," he said, his heart racing. He could feel it still simmering under his skin, and it took everything in him to keep it from spilling over. The last thing he wanted was to overwhelm her further. "It''s just... it''s hard to explain," Lillian stammered, her words laced with vulnerability. "It''s like I can smell your... need, and it''s making me feel dizzy." Kael swallowed hard, her words sinking in. The very idea that she could sense his desire only intensified the feelings. He wanted nothing more than to pull her closer, to show her his need, but he was painfully aware of the line they were treading. "I didn''t mean to make you feel that way," he said softly, trying to regain some semblance of control. "I just... I guess I can''t help it when you''re this close. But I''ll keep it together as best as I can." Kael''s honesty stirred something deep within her, and he could feel the tension crackling between them. "I want to be near you too," she confessed, her heart picking up pace. "It''s just... everything feels intense, y''know? Your pheromones are overwhelming. But not in a completely bad way." With every inhale of his scent, she could feel her own mixing into things. Each breath he took started filling with her scent, mingling with his own, creating a heady cocktail of thoughts and emotions that made it increasingly difficult to resist. Kael''s mind raced as he wrestled with his feelings, desperately trying to suppress the instincts that urged him to let go. But with every passing moment, the effort became harder. "I''ve been feeling this connection between us for a while," Kael admitted carefully, his voice strained. "But I didn''t know how to handle it. I guess it''s just hard to hide how much I want to be near you." Lillian averted her gaze, her breath coming faster. Kael could see the effect he had on her, and it made his pulse quicken. With every breath, Lillian inhaled more of his scent, her body responding eagerly to the energy between them. Kael could feel the tension rising, the urge to give in to the moment battling against the hesitancy that held him back. Their heartbeats echoed in their ears, and the world outside faded into oblivion as they remained locked in the moment. Kael could feel his pulse quickening, excitement and apprehension swirling within him. The connection they shared felt daunting, yet the drive to just reach out ¨C to touch ¨C loomed over his head. Tentatively, Kael shifted slightly, his heart racing as he summoned the courage to voice the question that had long been lingering in his mind. "Lillian," he began, his voice barely above a whisper. "Can I... can I kiss you?" The vulnerability in his tone struck a chord deep within her. Lillian''s heart soared at his words, and she felt a lump form in her dry throat. She had been waiting for this moment, yet the reality of it sent a whirlwind of butterflies into her stomach. "Yes," she replied softly, her voice steady despite the deep emotions thrashing inside her. "Please." With her permission, Kael felt a wave of relief wash over him, and he leaned in closer, closing the distance that had felt daunting. As their lips met, a jolt of electricity surged through him, igniting a deeper arousal within him. It was soft at first, a gentle exploration that spoke volumes of their shared feelings and the unknown they seemed to be entering together. Lillian melted into the kiss, her senses overwhelmed by the taste of him, the warmth of his body, and the intoxicating blend of their pheromones swirling around them. It felt as though the world had shifted, and in that single moment, Lillian couldn''t help but lose her head. The kiss deepened, fuelled by the emotions that had been building between them, a beautiful melding of desire between them. As they pulled back, both breathless, Kael searched Lillian''s eyes, looking for any sign of hesitation. But what he found instead was a spark of joy, and big, glossy green eyes that seemed to tell him how she was just as out of it as he was. "Fuck," he breathed, a soft smile breaking across his face. "I never thought it would be like that." "Neither did I," Lillian admitted, her cheeks burning red. She had wanted to make a comment about him having thought about this before, but there were too many other thoughts to start teasing him now. "But yeah. Fuck." Kael grinned, his face displaying overwhelming happiness and a goofy smile. "I''m glad. I''ve been wanting to do that for a while, but I just... I didn''t know how." Lillian''s heart pounded in her ears, barely hearing his confession, and she felt a thrill at the thought that he had been just as nervous as she had. "I''m really glad you did," she said, her voice soft. She had felt so guilty after her heat, thinking of him in such manners before she even knew his name. The part she felt the worst about was that those thoughts never fully went away. Her mind couldn''t stay away from thoughts of him, how he would feel, during the two heats she''d endured since they first met. She had tried keeping herself together, keep her mind out of the gutter, but that ended up falling through every time she laid eyes on him. Lillian felt a surge of warmth flood through her, igniting every nerve ending in her body. She pushed back, finding his lips once again as she made her way onto his lap. Kael made a sound of surprise, but his hands quickly found their way to her waist, pulling her closer as the world around them fell away. The intensity of the moment continued to drown them, and both were still aware of the emotional stakes involved in what they were doing. Lillian''s heart raced as she melted against him, the heat radiating from Kael sending ripples of excitement through her. She had never imagined that a kiss could feel so full of promise, so alive with possibility. As Kael deepened the kiss, she felt the intoxication of desire and weakness coursing through her veins, realizing this was the start of a turning point. Kael, too, was lost in the sensations that washed over him. Every kiss felt like a million tiny fires being lit within his body, his self-control being engulfed in the flames. Yet, beneath the thrill lay a cyclone of emotions - fear, uncertainty, exhilaration, arousal. He was painfully aware how similarly she was feeling, but he couldn''t help but flicker to the potential consequences of their actions, the implications that this intimacy could have on both their lives. What if they crossed a line they couldn''t uncross? What if their connection complicated everything they had built together? As the kiss deepened, Lillian''s hands found their way to Kael''s hair, pulling him closer as she surrendered to the moment. The taste of him, the warmth of his body pressed against hers, the thick fog of his arousal, was maddening. Yet, a small voice in the back of her mind reminded her of the stakes. They were rivals on the field, and while this newfound closeness felt right, it also threatened to disrupt the balance they had established. Would they still be able to navigate competitions against each other if they crossed this line? With a sudden burst of clarity, Kael pulled back panting, their foreheads resting against each other as they both caught their breath. "Lillian," he murmured, his voice straining to appear concerned. "Holy fuck. I want this, but I need to know how you feel about it. This changes a lot, but I''m not going to be able to hold on much longer." She assumed that meant he wasn''t going to be able to keep his instincts and urges in check if they kept going, but she was torn. Lillian looked into his beautiful hazel eyes, searching them for reassurance, and found it reflected back at her. "I want this too," she confessed, her voice steady despite the thoughts drowning out her voice. "But I''m scared of what it means. I don''t want to lose what we have. I''ve never done this before." Kael nodded slightly, hanging his head and shutting his eyes for a moment of clarity. "Neither have I. We have something, and I don''t want to jeopardize it. But at the same time, I can''t just ignore how I feel about you." "What if this complicates everything? We''re teammates, rivals even. This could change our dynamic forever." Lillian whispered. Kael opened his eyes, his gaze steady and sincere. "I get that. But maybe we can figure it out as we go. We don''t have to have all the answers right now. We can take it one step at a time." She considered his words, feeling a flicker of possibility amidst her uncertainty. "So, you think we should just... let our instincts take over? Let things unfold naturally?" The idea of letting go scared her. "Yeah, exactly," Kael replied, a hint of a smile breaking through his seriousness. "We''ll burn that bridge when we get to it. For now, let''s just enjoy being us. See where things go." If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it''s taken without the author''s consent. Report it. The idea of letting go, letting the instincts take over, the idea of him being with her ¨C it was all terrifying. She''d been on dates but had never gotten this far with someone, she''d always gone through her life alone. The worst part was that she felt more overwhelmed by the desire to be closer to him, to feel every inch of him against her skin. Being close to him was somehow more comfortable than the idea of letting him get close. Maybe it was time to let go. Kael''s hands slid down her sides, exploring the contours of her body as he moved to press her back against the couch, kissing her softly. Lilian kissed back, pressing herself further against him. The sensation of her warmth beneath him sent a shockwave of arousal through him, and he felt himself reach threshold. He wanted to lose himself in her, to explore the depths of themselves without hesitation. "Lillian," he breathed, his voice thick with desire, as he pulled back just enough to look into her eyes. "Are you sure you''re sure about this? I don''t want to rush you." The only thing Lillian could hear were their heartbeats; they were deafening as she met his gaze, her own desire mirrored in his eyes. "I want this, Kael. I want you," she replied, her voice steady despite everything swirling within her. The gravity was only fuelling her desire, and she felt a thrill at the thought of finally crossing the boundaries. With a shared understanding, they both finally gave in, their lips crashing together again as the kiss deepened. Kael''s hands roamed over her body, exploring every curve, igniting a fire within her that spread like wildfire in the dry season. She responded eagerly, her own hands tracing the contours of his muscles, feeling the strength beneath his shirt. As the scents enveloped them, clothing became a barrier neither of them wanted. Kael''s hands deftly began to pull off her tank top, while Lillian''s fingers worked to pull his shirt over his head. The moment their skin finally touched; it was electric. With a sense of urgency and passion, they tumbled deeper into their intimacy. They kissed hungrily, their bodies melding together as they explored each other with a fervour that left them both breathless. Every touch, every kiss, carried the weight of their unspoken feelings. Lillian jolted for a moment, feeling the hardness between his legs. She had dreamed of feeling it for months now, her attempts to keep a clean mind failing miserably. This was everything she had daydreamed about. Kael sucked in a harsh breath as her hands brushed over the front of his shorts. "Fuck. I''m gonna explode if these don''t come off right this fucking second." Lillian laughed internally; he seemed so frustrated - they''d spoken for months now, and she''d never heard him curse so much. Kael stood up from the couch, grabbing the remote to shut off the end credits before tossing the remote to the other side of the room. Lillian watched as he turned back around, hooking his thumbs in the waistband and pulling them down, revealing a pair of compression shorts with a large outline leading to a slight wet spot. Lillian''s chest heaved in her sports bra, feeling it constrict around her rib cage. That had to go too. At this point, Kael just watched her pull everything off with dark eyes, his own chest heaving. The entire room clouded with the thick arousal; Lillian was glad her heat was last month, otherwise, the scent could have easily been powerful enough to send her into one. As she stood up to face him, grabbing her panties and about to pull them down, she heard a low growl. Kael watched her darkly, and she left the panties on, not sure why he felt this way, but she wasn''t exactly asking questions. Kael stood quietly watching, practically stalking her as he tried his best to hang onto any amount of sanity. His compression shorts were tightening quickly, more than he had ever anticipated. His breath hitched as she lowered herself and began kissing the outline of his cock through the shorts, licking at the pre-cum seeping through the shorts. She had decided that keeping her panties on was a good idea, as her hole continued to leak more and more. Her head had been dizzy on the field, but it was nothing compared to now. Every daydream she had about the way he''d taste, how much he''d fill up her mouth, how his hands would feel against her skin - it was all coming to life. She hooked her own thumbs into his waistband after extensive teasing, looking up at him as she kissed down the shaft over the shorts, silently asking if she could expose him. His hands, originally hovering as if unsure of what to do with them, finally reached down, ruffling and petting her hair. A soft gesture meant as a confirmation. With his acceptance, Lillian pulled down the shorts, exposing his muscular thighs and lovely tan cock. It was only slightly lighter than the rest of his skin, the sun lines prominent around the V-line leading to his groin. His cock was long and had a decently thick base, small notches visible where his knot could expand. The head had a slight rosy colour, contrasting slightly against his dusky skin. Lillian had tried this a few times, but mostly on her heat toys. Either way, all it took was a little resolve before she wrapped her lips around the head and began to build up the saliva to work it down further. Kael let out a stuttered breath as she worked his cock with her mouth, his grip tightening slightly on her hair. The more saliva she used, the further down she went. Once she realized she could only make it about halfway, she brought a hand up to work the rest of the base. Kael started making small sounds - a harsh inhale, a small grunt, loud swallows - all while Lillian swirled her tongue on the underside and used her thumb to massage the base. She could feel a small trickle of slick slide down her leg, finally breaking past the absorbency of her panties. After a little while of having her lips wrapped around him, it became too much. Kael felt if he didn''t get her mouth off him, he wasn''t going to make it to what he really wanted. "Fuck. Up, let''s go." He said, sliding a hand from her hair to her chin and using a finger to direct her off of him. Lillian moved, taking another quick swallow as she slipped off the head with a small string. Lillian''s pupils were blown, a small ring of green still visible alongside her flushed cheeks. "Huh?" she asked, lips glossy. Kael grabbed hold of her sports collar, pulling her up and kissing her with everything he had. Lillian''s legs felt wobbly from her own arousal and from kneeling for that time. She kissed back sloppily, whining into his mouth as she rubbed her legs together. Kael reached around, pulling her hips closer with one arm, and the other reaching down to rub between her legs. It was hot, the way her hips seemed to grind against his hand and how soaked she was. If there was one thing he didn''t doubt, it was how much she wanted this. Lillian continued to take advantage of his hand, rubbing her clit against it as she kissed him and tasted his hunger for her. "O - Oh my god. Kael, please," she cried softly, breaking the kiss for a moment. As much as she wanted to focus on his needs, she was finding it increasingly difficult to ignore the need to have him in her. Her heat toys were a good size, but nothing compared to him. She wanted to know how it felt, and at the moment, the only thing clogging her mind was the promise of his knot. "What makes you think I''m done with you?" he asked, a deep rumble in his chest. The sweet and charming Kael seemed to be completely gone. When they had discussed letting go, letting their instincts take over, she wasn''t expecting this version of Kael. "I wanna hear you. Your little moans, the little sighs, all of it. Beg." At this point, most of Lillian''s sanity was gone, replaced by a strong drive to please, to let him completely take over. "Yes, Alpha, please," she pleaded. "Please, I need you, I need - ah!" she whined, feeling him adeptly manoeuvre under the fabric and slip a finger in. She could feel him rubbing up against a nice spot, driving her mad; he was a bit too good at this. It was all she could do to keep herself together with all the feelings and his scent continuing to disable her. It was when her teeth started tingling she knew she was in trouble, and she didn''t have enough willpower to avoid - "Ah, fuck! You''re a biter?" Kael groaned after feeling her sink her teeth into his chest muscle. "Two can play that game," he laughed roughly. All at once, he pulled his finger from inside her, barely giving Lillian enough time to complain before ripping her panties. Lillian was stunned, looking up at him wide-eyed. The sparks in his eyes were gone, replaced only by a dark film and dangerous intent. If she wasn''t so excited, she''d be downright terrified right now. He cocked a smile, a toothy grin with the white contrasting the mild red inflammation around his canines, which had protruded. She hadn''t seen an Alpha''s fangs up close. They''re much sharper than in the textbooks. She had noticed early on how sharp his canines were but hadn''t expected them to protrude as far as they did. An Alpha''s canines only protrude when they''re either in rut or looking to mark. Like an extra centimetre of tooth ready to come out and make marking easier. She was pretty sure he wasn''t in rut, but seemed to be toeing the line a bit. The grin spread across his face was gone almost as soon as it arrived as he dipped down, whispering right outside her ear. "Ready to be my good little Omega?" Lillian didn''t have a chance to respond before her body eagerly gave him her answer, pushing out more arousal pheromones and her skin blazing against his. He chuckled. "Then why not get yourself ready for me?" Lillian''s panties were still stuck to her body, still needing to be taken off despite the rips. She quickly took the rest of the fabric off before taking in how large he was for a moment, deciding to present herself on the couch for him. As she climbed into position, her knees settled on the cushions and her forearms braced against the backing, she shut her eyes, preparing for everything she''d been waiting for. Kael stood behind her, admiring her freckled ass, muscular thighs, and the soft curve of her back. Lillian felt so small under his gaze, watching him run his tongue over his canine teeth. Kael lightly traced over her hips with his fingertips, making her shiver. He seemed to take great pleasure in watching her squirm under his gaze. Something about her sparked something deep and primal; the moment he had let the instincts take over; it felt like a huge weight off. No more worries of being a too-big guy, no worries of being scary, no worries that he''s doing the wrong thing. With that look in her eye, he was sure she wanted this as much as he did. Needed this as much as he did. Kael took his cock, lining the head up with her hole. "Ready?" He asked, using her slick to coat himself while he waited for an answer. Lillian''s cheeks felt like they were melting; she had never presented herself to someone. She''d had the urge, but it was like she hardly got any say in what her body did right now. It was exhilarating, freeing, like she was finally where she was supposed to be - underneath Kael''s eyes. Lillian nodded, moving her ass to press against him more. Kael used one hand to grip her hips harshly, his nails digging in. "It''s a yes or no, Lillian," he said, voice cold as ice. "Yes, please," she whimpered, tired of playing this game, wanting everything he had to give her. Wanting him to fulfil her wildest fantasies. Kael smirked, using his other hand to steady himself as he slipped in. Lillian groaned, holding her breath and squeezing her eyes shut as he worked it in. "Holy fuck, Lillian. Almost there, baby," he strained, pushing past the halfway point. He could feel the way she wrapped around him, burning hot and tight - almost too tight. Lillian knew he''d be a bit big for her, but she was gasping toward the end, relishing the way he stretched her out. Once he was almost all the way in, he leaned over behind her ear, whispering, "There we go, take it so well for me," before jolting his hips forward, causing her to gasp as the last few centimetres of his cock invaded her. He could feel his teeth tingling lightly, just enough to make him want to - "Ah! Fuck, Kael!" Lillian cried, feeling him sink down just below her collar line, but still leaning into the pain as he left a nice, pretty bruise on her skin. "Please!" she whined, begging him to start moving. A few seconds of being still was far too long. Kael didn''t see any point in making her wait, so he let go of her shoulder, gripped her hips, and slowly backed up until he was almost all the way out, before slamming into her again. Lillian felt the air get punched from her lungs; the stretch was delicious, even better than she had imagined. He didn''t take long to pull out and do it a few more times, starting a brutal pace that left her nothing but a chorus of random "yes''s," cursing, and little whines. Kael looked over at her, eyes screwed shut and her teeth nearly tearing into the cushions as he rocked her. "Holy fucking shit, please don''t stop. Plea - ah, fuck!" she screamed, feeling him taking up every inch of her. "You sure have a mouth on you when you''re getting fucked. Where''s the polite Omega I knew?" he taunted, digging his hands in farther. "I - I, ah, please! Alpha!" she whined, feeling her pleasure reaching a breaking point. Kael chuckled at her flushed face. "Getting fucked too good to even answer your Alpha. Such a pretty little thing," he grunted, punctuating with sharp thrusts. "Kael - Alpha, wait, fuck. Please! Please I - I need -" she quieted, inhaling roughly as an orgasm tore through her body, electricity shocking through her like a lightning strike. Kael could feel her tighten significantly, relishing in the way her walls pulsed around him, listening to her come undone all over him. His cushions would be slick-soaked if he kept this up. "Good fucking girl, that''s it, take it. Ride it out," Kael growled, continuing a slightly gentler pace as she babbled and rode out her orgasm. When she turned around to give Kael a dazed look, he pulled out entirely, grabbing her by the back of the neck and making her stumble over to a wall, where he picked her up swiftly and started up an aggressive pace. Lillian took no time to wrap her legs around him, letting him thrust himself deep inside her. He kept whispering her name, telling her to be good, growling into her as he split her down the middle with his cock. Lillian was barely hanging on by a thread; she''d never felt like this before. Like her heat on steroids, but somehow with more pleasure involved. Kael reached over, sinking his teeth down into her shoulder again, leaving a nice matching bite on the opposite side. Lillian cried, barely registering the group of laughing people passing the door who could clearly hear what was happening. She felt Kael''s pace begin to falter, his chest pressing against her breasts more as he chased his own edge. Kael felt like he was about to snap, slamming into her as hard and fast as he could. He couldn''t even hear her moans and curses anymore; the pleasure blocked everything out aside from the heartbeat in his ears. His vision started going black around the edges, feeling the growing need to really take her. Her scent was delicious and seemed to beckon him closer to her mating spot. Right on the edge, he felt himself lose it all, crashing into her one last time as his knot expanded and locked them together while he pumped her full. There was only a second of latency before he growled and proceeded to bite her mating spot, his teeth digging into the specially made leather and puncturing it deeply. Some of his teeth missed, puncturing the skin just outside the collar. "Fuck, Kael! Alpha, please! Need it, need you!" Lillian sobbed; having it that close to her mating spot on top of being knotted was easily the greatest feeling she could have dreamed up. "Knot me!" As his knot swelled, a rush of something possessive and fiercely tender filled him. He was marking her, binding her to him in a way that felt deeper than skin and bone. A wild protectiveness warred with the raw hunger that still throbbed in his veins. Mine, the word echoed in his mind, both thrilling and humbling him. And all at once, she felt filled, sated, and well-taken care of. She was so out of it she barely registered Kael licking her neck, trying to clean up his mess. Having him locked in her felt like the first shower in a week, like a light at the end of a cave, like the first star to show up at night. Her world felt like it was floating and crashing at the same time. Her hair was a mess, her lips were red from biting them, and she could barely see from the tears pricking her eyes. As they both caught their breath, the intensity of what they''d done gradually gave way to a softer reality. Kael, though still knotted with Lillian, gently lifted her from the wall, his earlier demeanour melting into a gentleness that enveloped them both. She wrapped her arms around his neck, feeling the quick, steady rhythm of his heart against her cheek. "Let''s move somewhere more comfortable," Kael suggested softly, his voice now tender and filled with warmth. He carried her through the dimly lit hallway, each step careful and deliberate, until they reached his bedroom. Setting her down gently onto the bed, Kael lay beside her, their bodies still connected, but his touch now feather-light and reverent. The earlier storm he''d created had settled into a sea of tranquillity, and Lillian felt it in the way he looked at her, his eyes filled with a mixture of gentleness and affection. "I''ve wanted this for so long," he confessed, his voice a gentle murmur that wrapped around her like a comforting embrace. "Since the first moment I saw you, I just knew there was something about you." Lillian''s heart swelled at his words, recognizing the shift in him. The dark, intense energy that had driven them moments ago was gone, replaced by the sweet, earnest Kael she had come to know and adore. "I felt it too," she replied, her voice soft and full of warmth. "I never imagined we''d end up like this, but I''m so glad we did." Their world shrank to just the two of them, wrapped in each other''s arms. The intimacy was deep, and Lillian felt a deep contentment settle over her. As they lay in the quiet of the room, Kael''s thoughts drifted to Adrian''s offer, a future he had begun to think about. "You know," he began, breaking the comfortable silence, "I think I''m going to take Adrian up on his offer. I think it''s time for some changes." Lillian looked up at him, her curiosity piqued by the sincerity in his gaze. "What kind of changes?" she asked, feeling the warmth as he snuggled her closer. Kael''s eyes softened further, filled with hope. "Something better, something that involves us. I want to explore what we can be, together." In that moment, Lillian simply enjoyed the warmth Kael provided, but a hint of uncertainty clouded her happiness. The idea of a shared future was exciting, yet she didn''t want to leave her team. As she lay beside him, she realized she was standing at a crossroad, unsure if she was ready to make that decision. Hopefully, they could figure it out together.
