《The Devours System》
Chapter 1 Awakening 1
Chapter 1 Awakening 1
The sky was scored in a beautiful red and orange as multiple gods and deities floated or stood in the air with their armies of followers and disciples. A rogue male stood against them.
His face was scared and old, yet he was a god, not by choice but by a curse. His anger toward most gods was one many mortal life felt, anger toward those who toy and play with their lives as if they were nothing more than ants or toys.
It always sickened the long-forgotten king as he wasn''t alone, to begin with, but, over years of fighting the gods, he has lost lovers, brothers in arms, and even children.
The cursed god knew his death here was unavoidable as he had killed many gods. He''d broken many taboos in his selfish fight but was used to doing that if he saw fit. Like feeding a god the meat of a human to prove they were not all-knowing and seeing.
"ha ha ha ha...yes, this is a fitting end for me, Lycan.. god of werewolves to be hunted overnumbered and be corned in such an unbefitting way to ruin your perfect utopia!" The old dying wolf god said as he looked down at the manly swords, polearms, and blades impaling his scared, withering body.
Glaring at the gods who were forced to give their power to mortals to stop him as he tipped the balance so much, he gave birth to many self-made gods and god slayers, all wanting their fate away from the norm.
Due to this action, the universes will give all beings a system, some standard leveling and straightening, and others with potential exotic, personalized, or unique systems that could rival the mighty gods and even higher beings.
Due to this, many gods would give people a system to breed a perfect vessel to break the shackles and regain the balance of gods overall, but some went rogue.
Others used it to become an all-powerful being above all, and all because Lycan sympathized with humans, demons even angels who wanted their fate in their own hands. Lycan passed on many secrets and arts forbidden before they became widely known and used.
Mana, ki or chi, aura, and many different forms of energy were locked away, but are now, given, and used for good and evil. Now, systems were something that would never leave mortal hands.
The gods tried to kill those who would not yield. Many prodigies lay dead or dying on this bloodstained battlefield of a graveyard. His comrades did not once curse their friend but only the gods who hated change.
The mighty Zeus had struck the final blow, but none of the gods here left without injury. Many were forced to reincarnate or seal themselves in a system to live on to claim the right above all.
"Your damn mutt, you dare to bite the hand of your master. To cause all this, I will ensure you will never live again, but I must thank you. As I hated the other pantheons, I now have the chance to be king of all gods again."
If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
"Haha! If I knew this would be the result, I''d have done it myself but sadly lost half of my powers, and my godly vessel is breaking, but all I must do, like many are, is become a system!"
"Live a life as a mortal and grow stronger than all. My soul is intact, but yours, haha? Well, that last attack you did fracture and destroyed yours, you will have a final death." Zeus said as he hobbled back and watched the old fool fade.
Only a head left slowly fading to the depths of the void fear, taking him as Lycan still gave the old prideful god a defiant stare.
Zeus was furious but eventually began to laugh as he performed the ritual. He transformed into pure energy as the sky filled with numerous lights, and the gods departed for this new opportunity. Lycan gradually disappeared, but not before he put the remaining parts of his soul into creating a system. He knew he couldn''t be the system, but with this creation, he hoped to be heard by the universe and receive a response to his desperate pleas.
"Please give my strength and power to someone who has the will to achieve their goals. They will need to train harder than most, but they will become a beacon of hope. I apologize, but they will not have an easy start and must work diligently."
Static noise could only be heard as the being was gone. This final message to the owner of this system would not hear his parting word all but a vague sentence.
A young adult of 23 years abruptly woke up, drenched in a chilly sweat, while experiencing an excruciating sensation of energy flowing through his body. It''s a common occurrence for all those who become system owners to undergo such a phenomenon.
Soul integration. Many would feel this pain at the age of 21 if they weren''t lucky enough to get a named system, but this male felt it twice. As he had a standard leveling system, his shaken, dark-skinned hand swiped down only to see. His lv 25 status go to lv 1. He was granted what many would kill for despite being reset to LV 1. He was given a named system.

~The Devours System ~
[Chapter 2 Awakening 2]
[Chapter 2 Awakening 2]
As I got up to wash after taking in everything I saw in my dream, let alone getting a new system, I was in quite a state of shock. I washed myself off as I stepped out of my shower, slicking my mid-long dusk gray hair away from my sadly feminine silver eyes as I looked at the black male in my reflection in the mirror.
With matching gray wolf ears and a tail that is constantly seen, a tuft of matching hair on my chest in the mirror, and a smile on my face, For a new opportunity, but sadly, it was also bittersweet.
I would have to start back at level 1, thus making 7 years wasted, but it could also be a good foundation to go forward as I wasn''t the strongest compared to others in my family of werewolves and demi-humans
I was looked down upon for having a standard system as opposed to any variation of a werewolf system; I wasn''t hated, just looked at with pity and regret by all but my mother, brother, and sister.
My mother had a priestess system that gave her favor with the Egyptian goddess Nut of the sky and heavens. We were very well off because of that and were given opportunities most wouldn''t, but sadly, only my brother and sister were well off.
My older half-brother was given an interdimensional system, and my younger half-sister an elite songstress system, both living their lives as they wish. We all stay in touch, well, my mother and sister do, but I try my hardest not to take handouts and make something on my own, with my own skills.
My mother and sister wished I''d go to a peaceful zone realm and just live an easy life, but my brother and I always wanted to adventure, be the strongest we could be, and make a name for ourselves.
Realms are split into different categories: safe, standard, battle lands, or far zones. Safe zones are basic life in one of many different earth-like places. Everyday typical life is the par for the course. Besides that, systems are more based on talents like singing, lying, writing, artist systems, and even some popularity systems. Standard is the current world after the Great Fall War or the end of the battle from my dream. Many worlds and dimensions blended into one. But basically, this is where most adventures start or end, as you''ll see many monsters and beings here.
Living by the rule of strength and might be opposed to law and order, death was something common here, and you''d see more fantasy-like races here you''d think were nothing more than fairytales.
The universe, or THE WILL, put unbreakable laws in place for each realm. No one from a higher realm could go to the safe realm without being suppressed if they tried to because THE WILL would actively hunt them down to restore balance. However, many powerful beings or gods had their hands in basically ruling over some of these realms for faith or other reasons.
Next is the battle and far zone. The Battlelands are just that¡ªa place of endless fighting for power, resources, and fame. However, there is a level requirement to go there unless one system bypasses the Level rule or you were born there. in which case you were limited in moving; if not, you would be forced to the standard realm. Most serious people would go there to get stronger, facing better and more crazier challenges. This is governed by the high powers, who are constantly changing.
But the far realm is a place THE WILL cannot touch. It''s a chaotic place with many unknowns and opportunities. Many who wish to ascend above the powers of THE WILL go there to gain unfathomable power. If not, die outright. I would never go there in my life depended on it, but there are many cracks in every realm that one could slip into, the higher realm you are or if ya have shitty luck.
"Well, great, I''m back at level 1, and my stats are shit, and I lost all the skills and magic I learned"
I''d be pissed if this wasn''t a common thing for new system integrations, I could relearn them instantly if they were compatible with me and my new system, but I could also be a coin toss as the named system know the users better than them making them lose powerful skills that would not help them in the long run.
Classes are mainly used by the strong or the lucky. Due to the skills they had gained, one could be a jack of all trades or a hybrid build. But that was a class in name only. I was what you would call a spell night, or at least that''s what I made myself be. However, there are ways to gain a class or a true class, as some call it, yet the methods are few and far between. Most would give up on chasing a dead end even though the benefits are great. It wasn''t easy learning magic and swordplay that meshed well. I was subpar at best, sinking most of my stats into intelligence, which tends to make one smarter and make one''s magic more potent.
However, the odd thing is that my intelligence was originally 20, but with this new system, I have felt no decrease in my mental strength. Oddly, the scaling may be different due to the system being different. Then again, I have an oddly high luck stat now, as I summoned my system to properly look at everything as it popped up in front of my eyes on a dark purple screen.

I ignored the race and bloodline trait as I could easily assume that my system would allow me to evolve into a higher breed of werewolf. The bloodline trait was blank and gave me no information, so I gave up on that for now. As for my stats, it gave me quite a brief explanation of each one, and I was surprised.
HP or health points is how much damage the user can sustain before death.
MP or mental power is the limit of one''s mental capacity not necessarily tied to only being a percentage of one''s energies (mana ) as it also shows how much mental stress one can overgo before going into an unconscious state or mind out state, which will force the user bodily harm.
STR is the value of the user''s physical strength, as well as physical skills and/or job skills, using said stat.
INT is the value of the user''s intelligence, which makes one smarter, allows the user to process information faster, and comprehends new and old information. It increases one''s potency with magic and arcane energy and influences proficiency in mana manipulation.
AGI is the value of the user''s speed, nimbleness, and body reaction speed. It increases the effectiveness of one''s five or sometimes more senses.
Con is the value of the user''s overall physical and mental constitution. It increases the user''s resistance, natural health, and overall capacity and potency of one''s inner life energy and external integration of life energies, like Ki nature energy, etc.
So far, all these stats seem self-explanatory, or so I thought. These regular stats now held more value to other things that I or others may not be aware of. For example, the con is my overall healthiness and toughness rather than just a simple HP boost. This would also explain my low int, as it''s my overall mastery of both mental capabilities and magical prowess, as many dumb individuals could still have a great magical ability.
I was also surprised as it directly told me what stats affected mana and ki, as those are two energies many learn and use to get a leg up over people. Werewolves are naturally very in tune with ki, but sadly, I wasn''t blessed as such. one of the many reasons my family outcasted me in a way.
I always preferred magic anyway, and mana is easier to learn. One can learn from teachings even if one does not naturally know how to manipulate mana around them. Ki, however, is very hit or miss, as it''s different for everyone. The ways one is taught are more tips or vague things one must understand to feel the energy. Learning to channel mana into a spell is difficult if you don''t know the ways, but mana can be used to straighten the body somewhat weakly if not well versed. That was my go-to method with swordplay as it was more effective as the only spells I knew were basic fireball and mana skin.
If you encounter this tale on Amazon, note that it''s taken without the author''s consent. Report it.
I''ll try channeling my mana to see if I can learn any old spells through the system. I was getting off track after seeing this final stat and my skills. As I was drying off my naked body and tail, many faded scars could be seen on my slender yet slightly curvy frame.
I always was a fast, flexible fighter rather than a simple boxy frame which only added to my androgynous, almost feminine looks that annoyed me to no end when many would call me a woman or when guys would hit on me as I would mostly tell them to fuck off as they were never my type anyway.
Looking at the final stat, I felt my heart skip for a second as this wasn''t a typical RPG luck stat for bonus damage and item discovery.
Luck is the unique stat given to the user, as luck represents going against causality. Suppose the user was put into a situation where one would typically fail or get nothing. In that case, the user''s existence makes it so that even something can give nothing to benefit the user, but luck is not all good, as there must be equal exchange to going against causality. So, the user will suffer to grow as the user did before gaining the system. Lycan wanted the new user to work five times harder to grow stronger, but do not fret, as each improvement allows the user to go against said suffering. The strong make one''s fate; in turn, they will no longer be forced to suffer but fight the suffering. Gained stat points cannot be used to increase luck. Only the users'' actions, certain quests, and items can raise luck for now. The higher it is, the more valuable the reward the system will give the user.
"T-this is bullshit! I''m given a stat that will not only give me good shit but will make me suffer to get it. That''s not lucky. That''s fucking ..bullshit, just ahh!" I screamed out to myself in my empty apartment building, slumping on the floor....fuck it. I''ve suffered already, so at least this time, I know I''ll be rewarded for it, right? I''ve always hated those bastards with better systems and skills, always taking from me, but now I won''t suffer in silence but with a hidden grin.
What I lose, I''ll only get rewarded with better! Maybe I''ve gone mad, or maybe I''ve finally understood it all. I''ve never preferred an easy win. I always preferred challenges anyway, and with this cheat, no matter what, I would get something as I would earn it from my hard work. After calming myself down, I realized it was time to see what was new.
Bringing up my unique ability, the hard work of my past paid off as I started to read the description in detail.
[Aura manipulation: one can manipulate one''s aura or the Soulforce that comes off one''s very soul. The fact that you have this ability shows how strong your very soul is. As aura comes in many different colors and forms, you can use it in many different ways, such as object construction, spells, buffs, and even curses, depending on one''s imagination, sufficient Soulforce, prominence, and life experiences.]
[Aura is measured not by a number but by the culmination of stamina and mental strength. As one soul has no measure but can expand and grow, one will know their limits without them being shown.]
[Your aura color is gray, meaning your aura is defined in a state of neutrality, as it can be positive or negative. Both will give it different straights. It will not be raw power but refined and defined. Your soul is in the perfect balance of pure and corruption; it is up to you to choose how to use this aura.]
[Claw slash lv:1 throws out claws of magical energy 5 MP is the minimum amount needed (can be further straightened using aura) ]
[Lycan Rage lv:1 temporarily doubles all stats for five minutes while increasing the damage one takes. This is a unique rage skill that can only be used by werewolves as the primordial werewolf Lycan could use the strength and power of a fully transformed werewolf in a non-transformed state while keeping the sanity of the mind however, the bloodlust to hunt will grow if one manages to devour the heart of their prey, the increase in all stats to go up by 2 as well as reset (max stack of 3) cost 45 MP cool down 1 hour ]
After evaluating my only active skills, they were pretty good, as I had a good range of skills and a busted rage ability. However, the requirement to eat the hearts of my prey meant that I would have to eat whatever I was fighting.
I''m not above eating human or sentient life. We werewolves thrive off it. I''ve just never done the killing. I''ve only been given what others would hunt, but that would also mean I''d have to eat trolls or goblins. The thought alone made me want to puke....but my mouth was also drooling at the mere thought of ripping into one and eating it whole.
Only now did I finally understand the name of my system: It would make me want to eat the things I''d fight to grow stronger.
~User has unlocked a hidden quest~
~Quest: Devour to grow strong~
~The user has managed to understand that this system requires him to eat not just food but a strong life to gain even more strength. The user came to the conscious conclusion that to get strong, one must throw away some form of morality.~
~Eat hearts of strong living life (0/3)~
~Reward 500 exp~
~Failure increases bloodlust till the user is forced to eat; life or death will occur.~
~As a bonus reward for the first-time hidden quest unlock skill, Devour has been upgraded to lv:1~
Surprisingly, I wasn''t mad or distraught. Without knowing until now, I was smiling madly, elated with the prospect of doing this. Before, I never saw a use for eating people or monsters; we just had the urge to do so, so there was no real benefit besides its taboo nature, but now I''ll gain something from this. I quickly looked at the passive skills as I got my low-ranked gear.
[Predators body lv:1 Your five senses are finely tuned, like those of a hunting predator, amplifying every detail of your surroundings. Each sound seems more distinct, every color bursts with intensity, and even the faintest scents dance vividly in the air, sharpening your awareness of the world around you.
[Unyielding soul lv: Max, your soul will not bow down to any man, king, or the infinite gods above you. Because of this, you can stave off any mental and spiritual invasion flung your way]
[Devour lv: 1 the primary skill of your system. Most will grow strong from killing and training. Still, you will gain random permanent stats from the enemies'' hearts you eat with a slight chance of gaining an ability from the eaten foes at lower levels, a higher chance from foes at your level, and an almost guarantee from enemies 10 levels or higher.
_Ability 2 not only does flesh and hearts sate your hunger and strength but also monster and magical cores. ]
As I finished putting on a pair of black cargo pants and a faded dark purple shirt, I looked at my old, worn mana steel straight sword. Picking it up, I wondered if this would even do me any good, as I was better off selling it. Since it had a low-level fire gem in it, the blade itself could sell for about 500 gold.
The blade was about to shatter, and my new stats and lack of mastery skills would slow me down. I was no longer a simple spell knight needing 12 intelligence to make the sword light and burn with life or at least 7 STR to hold it up properly. I would swing it around to get a basic sword mastery 1 skill, but if it breaks, then I can kiss that idea goodbye until I buy a new one.
Just as I was about to say fuck it and walk out the door to sell it and buy a basic sword to start hunting, I felt oddly compelled to look at the gem as id have to be insane as I pried the gem free with little resistance. My mouth began to drool and salivate.
"It said monster cores and magical cores, but a simple fire gem?....nothing lost, nothing gained."
Against all my reasoning, I swallowed the gem, gagging a bit and coughing as it was not the best decision. only when I was going to reprimand myself did something flash before me
~The low-rank fire gem has been infused with mana for so long that it became a conduit for fire, meeting the requirements of a low-rank fire core user gained +3 INT.~
Chapter 3 Awaking 3
Chapter 3 Awaking 3
I stood in front of a slightly worn down smithery, as a very rough-looking elf glared at me to no end, as I tried my best not to look the old man in the face. If it weren''t for his resting, I don''t take shit face. The elf would look like many of his more flawless, young-looking breathers, but it was odd as is to see an elf be a master blacksmith with no fancy or ornate stuff.
"You rather sell me back my sword I custom made for your sorry ass with the damn fire stone missing than have me just repair it"! Gorith said, yelling and shouting at me, as I looked at him sighing.
He may come off as a hardass, but he is actually very friendly and loves to help low-level adventures as much as he can. He saw way too many die due to poor gear or direction from those who knew nothing.
"Listen, old man, I told ya I can''t use it anymore!"...I tried not to give everything away, but he has very sharp appraisal skills and can see through lies and deceit.
" Then please enlighten this old man, cus last I saw, you had the stats to do so easily, and one doesn''t just lose stats outta the blu-"...The old blacksmith stopped talking as he looked me dead in my silver eyes with his dark red eyes.
"You finally got an elite system after all ya hard work, haha!" He laughed heartily. He was happy and cheerful as he knew I was one to put in a lot of effort with my limited abilities. He was wrong, though.
"A-actually I.." I speak low as if many knew I had a named system. I would have many guilds trying to scout me, or worse. Slavers would want me to sell me off to some rich bastard to raise his status and image ."I have a named system, and I''m back at level 1."
The old elf stopped laughing as he took me into the forge with much seriousness and concern. He knew if too many knew when I had no protection or backing, it would be the same as asking to be shot on the spot. "well, it seems you are even luckier or worse, and now I see why ya came to sell your old gear it''s all useless to you with your stats go on pick ya out something that won''t get ya killed, I won''t hassle ya about money."
Well, I won''t say no. I''m not against most free handouts, so I didn''t hold back as I browsed his LV 1 items and ones I could use with my stats. Looking through the stuff, I grabbed a light iron armor set consisting of a chest plate, gauntlets, and steel-toe leather boots. I wanted to be unrestricted and speedy over complete protection.
I took a 4-foot-long, 2-inch thick straight sword that was light and long as it had the bare minimum str needed to hold it as well as a 6-inch long 4-inch curved combat knife and to top it all off, I wore a purple silken mage coat under it all. It had int boosting stats to it. No level 1 would do a combination like this, let alone have the money to mix and match as the most prioritized protection to survive better.
This was well over 500 gold alone as most int gear tends to be more expensive than other bosting gear, not counting weapons.
I brought up my status to see what my overall stat value is now after I allotted my 10 free points before coming here.
I soon learned I could see my skills and stats separately. There were other tabs grayed out that will most likely open up as I level up¡ªseeing how the equipment gave me minor stats.

Quite impressed with my stats and gear, I swung my sword in my right hand and my knife in my left; after a couple of times to get used to it, a system alert went off. I smiled as I was hoping this would happen. As the system notified me.
~~The user has generated the skills [sword mastery lv:1] [knife mastery lv:1] ~~
Mastery skills are basic but are your main bread and butter, and each level-up increases the damage and/or performance of the mastery of said skill.
Some skills are tied to one''s master level and lower the cost of energy or stamina to perform said tasks. For instance, a maximum lv of sword mastery could swing tirelessly for days without the need for rest. They could develop their unique sword styles, like The emotion Severing Sword, Heavens Cleaving Saber, The singing Sword, or Space cutting Blade. To name a few famous ones.
"Thank you, Mr. Gorith. With this, I''ll make sure I won''t die out there," I said, giving him a slight bow to show my appreciation. I still respected the old man, regardless of whether I could get one over on him or not.
This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.
"Ahh, shut ya crap, the sword you''re selling me back is worth at least 5000 gold, so this is nothing. I''ll keep the gear. It''s barely 1500. I''ll just keep the rest of the gold as a fee to shut my mouth... about the info on ya.. now scram, ya remind me of those pretty boy elves back at home!
I quickly hurried out of the shop as I had one more stop to make before I went to the hunting grounds. And that was the skill bookshop, the Dusty Crow. I was still missing some valuable skills before I tried to fight random mods and had no info on them or other skills to use.
Walking into the store, it wasn''t as crowded as I''d usually be due to how early it still was in the morning, going to the beginner section, and most skills cost up to 20-500 gold a piece in this section.
It was heart-wrenching, yes, but one needs to spend money to earn it, and this was an investment in me becoming one of the best fighters out there. I''m more than certain I was very far behind my age.
When picking up an inspection book, I was given quite a notification. ~~this skill is not suited for the user and cannot be learned; however, the user can turn the book into exp. Would you like to?~~
Quickly putting the book away as it was a taboo to learn a skill before buying it, I was very stumped as inspect was a basic skill, and I needed some form of enemy scaling skill. Thinking I went to the gold skill area and I picked up an appraisal book for 10,000 gold, only to curse my system.
~~The skill [appraisal] is compatible with the user~~. This went on for quite some time as I brought 4 books to the cashier. She was your typical witch in training, large pointy hats and all, as she had a look of lifelessness in her eyes. Most likely due to her teacher using her as free labor as part of her teachings.
I would pity her if I wasn''t laughing at her in my head. She was stuck here, but sadly, I wasn''t all that happy as most of my savings went to these four books. I gave her the gold before walking out.
My gold went from 19,562 down to 300. This was truly sad for me, but these skills were going to make up for everything as I instantly learned all four, hurrying to the hunting grounds and pulling up the hood on my shirt to not be recognized, at least not till I re-registered with the adventures inn or a guild. So that I would have some protection and could plan my next steps, as before, I was a freelance adventurer, not needing to register due to having a basic system.
~learned the skills [appraisal] [storage] [quick steps] [bind]~
[Appraisal:lv1 cost no MP
It allows one to see anybody''s information or anything; however, at lower levels, info can be hidden from the user.]
Storage: lv max cost no MP Allows the user to bind a storage space of 400 cubic sq feet (or about the size of a one-bedroom apartment) to one''s soul, allowing them to store and remove items they wish at will
[Quick Steps: lv 1 cost 10 MP per step
Allows the user to quickly move from their current spot up to 3 meters to another desired spot that they can perceive almost instantaneously]
[Bind: lv1 cost 30 MP > Aura chains lv: 1 cost 25 MP per second if reinforced
Allows the user to create chains of aura to bind the enemy, which can be reinforced with additional mana to make it stronger and aura to increase duration.]
"Man, this system is something. It took a basic skill and changed it into a completely different one due to my aura ability. I wonder if other skills will be affected the same way."...
As I got to the entrance of the dark forest hunting grounds, I took a good look around before deciding to go to the lake area as that is where Fishman and Goblins would be populated as that would be 2 of the 3 hearts need to eat for my quest unless it was just three period. For that, I''d find out myself and open up my system to check all my stats and skills one last time before I quickly stepped deep into the dark-shaded forest with a grin for the feast I''d soon have.

Chapter 4 First Battle 1
After using [Quick Step] four times to cover around 12 meters (36 feet ), I saw the lake approaching fast, so I stopped, looked around, and stayed hidden in a tree, looking for monsters. My eyes and ears were much sharper due to [Predator''s Body]. Soon, I took notice of three goblins as I [Appraisal] the three, and there were two LV 2 goblins with clubs and an LV 5 with a rusty sword in his hands, commanding the other two.
MP:80/120
Looking at how much mana I had left after 4 [Quick Steps], I was pretty happy as I used to deal with way less mana, as I was only feeling slight fatigue due to my lower but better stats as named systems scale their stats double to a normal one. Hence, 11 Agi is basically 22 for a Standard system user.
Drawing out my combat knife, I focused on the level 5 goblin as they were a few meters away. Still, due to the darkness of the leaves, they would only notice me a little if I made lots of noise. Throwing it with all my might, it sailed straight into its skull as blood started to gush out. To the surprise of the lackeys, who were lost entirely, it was killed on the spot, desperately looking for where the knife came from, let alone who could kill their leader.
~~Killed an lv:5 goblin Earned 50 EXP~~
Drawing my sword next, launching myself at the closest goblin, pricing my blade into his neck from the momentum, making it slide through like butter as I rolled with the body, shooting towards the knife in the dead leader''s skull as I charged the last scared goblin, grabbing the hand that held the club in its hands before quickly slicing it neck open.
~~Killed an lv:2 goblin Earned 20 EXP~~
Dropping the corpse, noticing only getting one notification for one LV 2 kill, my eyes fell on the one impaled in the neck with my sword. Seeing the piercing was too good, leaving it just barely alive, I walked over to it, slowly grinning wide as I saw it struggle and choke. Probably begging for mercy with its bloodshot yellow enlarged eyes and tears running down its face, but it would get no mercy from me.
I learned early on in life that it''s kill or be killed, and I took great delight in killing and watching others suffer if they so deserve it. This was no different, turning the knife down in my hand for an easy stabbing position, towering over this prey of mine.
"Hey now~... hey now~... don''t look at me like that. There''s an old saying about you, vermin. The only kind of a good goblin is a DEAD goblin ~! I said with reverie, stabbing below its left collarbone down to his abdomen as it let out a bloody, gurgly scream. I was busy digging into the cavity. Before ripping his heart free with ease as the light finally left its eyes.
~~Killed an lv:2 goblin Earned 20 EXP~~
After harvesting the two other hearts, I took a deep breath, calming myself down from the bloodlust I felt after all of this. My heart was racing like mad and my hands and skin were buzzing with a surgery rush of energy. I could only madly grin before I snapped back to my senses. I stored the hearts in my storage, and I was surprised. The system flashed in my face, and the purple screen was now much more intricate. It was still a dark royal purple but had black and red embroidery with white roses on the top and bottom.
The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
As it was set to the [storage] tab, it showed two hearts, one a lv5 goblin heart and another next to it saying lv2, with times two next to it. It was basically stacking them and sorting them automatically, as I''d assumed I would have to use some of my mental strength to look and sort through it, but no. It was very user-friendly and much more helpful than a storage item alone.
Dragging the lv5 body with me into a safer part of the woods, throwing it into a bush, before going in with it, as my system claims I''ll get stronger by eating flesh and hearts, but how much was needed was the question.
So I started with the neck, sinking my fangs deep into its neck and ripping off flesh as I began to eat it. It was the worst tasting thing in my life, having to hold back throwing up and gagging before finally swallowing it after chewing it to where I''d all go down.
Feeling a strong impulse in my body, I soon ate more and more as it slowly started to taste better in my mouth. I was salivating, and only after eating about a pound of its neck and upper body flesh did I get a way better notification that only left me grinning with a bloody smile.
~~Devoured the flesh of an lv5 goblin killed by the user Awarded 25 bonus EXP~~
Seeing that I could earn half the max EXP from eating only a pound of meat and that there were absolutely no side effects after waiting a full hour, I went back, quickly eating the other two. Raw meat was always hit or miss in regards to taste, but I could feel no meat would ever taste bad to me now, cooked or uncooked. I would always have a means to survive, as I could eat meat with seemingly no drawbacks.
~~Devoured the flesh of two lv2 goblin''s killed by user Awarded 20 bonus EXP~~
~EXP135/500~
Seeing that everything the system said was true and only benefited me, I summoned up the courage to eat a heart, as it could be way worse tasting or a delicacy. I took out the level 5 heart first as if the others didn''t count towards my quest. I should eat the best first, as it was roughly the size of an apple in my now bloody hand.
I started to eat away at it. Soon, a pleasuring heat washed over my body as this was the juicy, sweetest meat I''ve ever had in my life. I quickly wolfed it down until nothing was left licking up the tasty blood in my hand.
~~User has eaten an lv5 goblin heart + 1Agi, 2Con, 2 Str~~
~~Hidden quest eat three sentient hearts (1/3)~~
Quickly taking out the remaining two hearts, eating away like a madman. I waited for the system notification with a bated breath...
~~User has eaten two lv2 goblin hearts + 2Con, +4 Str~~
That was all it said. I couldn''t be disappointed, as I was still given so many stats. By eating the hearts, I''d gain a random total of stats equal to the level, and eating multiple wouldn''t give me any bonuses.
"Well, this changes my plans a lot. Hehehe. So I''ll have to kill a fishman and another monster. Not many are this far from the entrance." I muttered to myself. So I''ll have to go deeper where higher-level enemies to find something, not a goblin. My gut tells me the highest monster I can easily kill is level 5, even with higher stats.
Monsters do tend to grow smarter past LV 5, so I couldn''t underestimate a beast and make sure whatever plan I came up with was well thought out. Storing the clubs and rusted sword in my [storage] to sell them later, I sheathe my sword and knife in their holsters as I was upset I didn''t generate a knife-throwing skill, but it was no issue if I kept it up.
I''ll learn it on my own as I wasn''t in any shape mentally, to try and force myself to remember my old spells or boost myself with mana, as my reserves were more than double. That, and I still felt an intoxicating bloodlust to eat more hearts soon and fast. To kill more, have blood running off my body to taste it! It wasn''t like I couldn''t hold this feeling back, but I knew it was the system''s doing to make me actively want more to finish this quest. Sighing, I continue my soon-to-be long day of hunting with a somber grin on my lips.

Chapter 5 First Battle 2
Chapter 5 First Battle 2
As I approached the lake, I saw quite a few more groups of goblins. I was avoiding them for now as I wanted to finish this quest as soon as possible, and it would be a waste of my time for now as I needed to join a guild as soon as I could so I''d have some form of protection from slavers and unwanted eyes. There was also the benefit of buying better gear, skills, and the ability to take better quests, most things a freelancer and low-level basic user needed more access to.
The requirements to join a guild were level 30 for Standard systems holders and level 10 for Elite systems holders, but there were no level prerequisites for named systems. Of course, the rules could be bent for those with connections or powerful families. Hell, if mine didn''t throw me out, I could easily get into any guild I''d like. Guilds were throwing themselves at these users, for they flipped the script regarding the strength they could possess. They also brought in lots of publicity so that the guild could prosper and be the first to pick raid quests as well as other opportunities.
I was avoiding the goblins because the bloodlust I had felt from the first taste of hearts was driving me mad. I knew only the taste of a different one would ease it enough to keep my sanity. Still, the system was pushing my body and mind to get stronger, to crave what could give me what I wanted. Going on a mindless killing spree would only get me killed if I lost my reasoning, even if the allure of more stat points were in my mind. I was no wild beast. Just because I was a werewolf didn''t mean I wasn''t still human in some regard!
I may be stronger than most lv1-5, but I was still a low level and solo, making my easy target to a group if I was paying no attention to what was happening. Snapping out of my long train of thought, I stopped by the rushing riverbank, weapons drawn, keeping my eyes peeled as any Fishman could jump out to try and ambush me, so I had to stay vigilant.
I kept pacing around slowly, doing a 360 every 2 seconds, when suddenly I was launched onto the ground right on my back and ass. I dropped my knife and was tumbling, stopping soon after as I saw a large-scaly red salmon, Fishman, with long webbed fined hands and feet, screaming at me, trident in hand. Scrabbling to get up, I spit out some blood from my mouth.
~-50 HP~
~HP90/140~
I was ambushed by a sudden assault that struck me forcefully in the ribs, resulting in them cracking. Despite the trident aimed towards my face, I held onto my sword firmly and successfully blocked it at the last minute. The adversary, a Fishman, was robust and effortlessly pushed me backward. However, I could rotate on my left and disengage from the confrontation. I inflicted a wound on its side, but the fish escaped with just a tiny scratch on its scales and no bleeding.
I found myself facing a formidable opponent in the form of a fisherman. Its strength was undeniable, as it moved with a speed and agility that exceeded my own. I soon realized its defense was equally impressive, making it a formidable foe. Suddenly, it launched a powerful water bullet in my direction, which I could not avoid despite my best efforts. In an attempt to turn the tide of the battle, I countered with a series of claw slashes, hoping to gain the upper hand.
~-10 MP~
~-10MP~
~-10MP~
The first two were enough to disperse the water bullet as the last slash hit it head-on in its chest, knocking it on its back. It screamed as it drew a large gash of blood on it, but nothing too crazy of damage. Using [Appraisal] quickly, I saw it was lv10."Fuck!" I''d expected a Fishman to be fast, but its level was at least 7 or 8, not this.
Seeing it jump back up about to launch another bullet, I had to pull a hail marry as any slip-up would get me killed, or I would kill it, but with a low mana tank after. Rushing it as I stayed in straight sight, I gritted my teeth hard as it finally launched at me.
As I cast both [Aura Bind], keeping it in place as their limbs and neck were bound by dark gray ethereal chains long enough, I shot in front of it with [Quick Step], swinging my sword at their neck. Its body thrashed and struggled to break free before the last thing it knew. I sent its head spiraling into the air as the chains faded away, dropping the body.
~~lv 10 salmon Fish-man killed gained 100 EXP~~
Putting the body and weapon in my [Storage], I quickly retrieved my knife and booked it back to the cover of the trees, away from the lake. Breathing hard from adrenalin, my body buzzed as soon fatigue overtook the numbing sensation. Leaning on a tree surrounded by many others gave my covering to catch my breath as my stamina and mana were low, opening my system to see how bad things were, cursing this damn luck of mine.
~HP:90/140~
~Mp:15/120~
"Fuck my mana is low as hell, and I forgot to get any potions, thinking this would be easy to hunt some low-levels with my past experience hunting these mobs ..., but I''m still not used to this system. I was a dumb-ass, and my luck made it so I would always be on my toes." The only good thing was that not only did I kill an LV10 monster, but I also got its body with me as its scales can be used to make armor and accessories, as well as its trident, which was in perfect condition at that, maybe this luck isn''t so bad.
Unauthorized duplication: this narrative has been taken without consent. Report sightings.
Taking its body out in the somewhat cozy nook, a thought crossed my mind. My storage never did state I couldn''t store living objects inside. Thinking of wanting to enter my storage, both I and the body were sent into a dark purple space. I laughed madly when I saw the carcass and the looted weapons inside. I had my own pocket space, which would be invaluable to me as the applications would be endless.
Carving out the heart in the safety of my space, I looked at it as the heart was blue and much smaller than a human''s or goblin''s, popping it into my mouth before eating it, letting out a deep animalistic murring of pleasure, my tail wagging happily.
~~User has devoured an lv 10 salmon Fishman heart and gained +3 Agi, 3 Int, 2 Str, and two con, as well as obtained one of the three skills of the user choosing [Water Bullet lv1], [trident Mastery lv1],[Natural Hardness lv1] When the user gains a skill from eating, use restrictions are ignored, and perfect integration of the skill is learned~~
[Water Bullet] Conjures a 10-inch water bullet from the user via magic, added ability to shoot from the mouth or to be channeled out from hands or magical medium costs 15 MP and can be infused with Aura as well
[Trident Mastery] Allows the user to use and know basic trident weapon skills and proficiency instantly
[Natural Hardness] Alters the user''s natural skin and bone structure to harden and become a natural form of armor and grants a +10 Con per every skill level
After reading all the skills, it was clear [Natural Hardness] was the best skill to take over the other two as the only other contender in my eyes was the [Water Bullet] spell, seeing the damage it could do firsthand, but since I preferred to be a more agile fighter having natural armor would be the best as I could wear light armor and less constricted actually, this skill itself could remove the need for me to wear anything more than maybe a chest plate.
~~user has selected [Natural Hardness] due to the user''s physique of their race, and the skills capability future race upgrades will be different due to this new racial trait~~
I''ve once heard skills can invoke or allow a new race evolution. Still, I would never have thought this would do just that for me in the future. Yet I was forced to keel over in pain. I yelled out in pain as I felt my entire body burning from the inside out. My bones felt like they were constantly breaking and reforming over and over again. In contrast, I could feel my muscles and flesh melt away, bones snapping and grinding together, only to pass out from the pain itself.
Waking up three hours later with a harsh gasp, I looked at my hands to thankfully see the skin was still there. I thought I was hallucinating, only to see clumps of burned dead flesh around my body as my broken ribs no longer ached. If anything, my entire body felt better than ever. I was hungry as hell, though. I practically jumped onto the dead fish''s body, ripping its arm clean off as I ate away, including the bones, as I did not want to ruin the body too much to be able to sell later in what mental clarity I could muster.
After finishing, I opened my system, swiping away the 50 EXP bonus notification as I couldn''t care less. Seeing all the changes was much more critical, but I was surprised at the +40 healing from eating. This skill was super busted.

Seeing how multiple things have changed, I was happy. Not only could I now evolve at lv 10, but [Quick step] hit lv two and went from 3 meters being my limit to now 5. Also, being unconscious for a few hours allowed me to regain some mana. Having still lost 50HP, it didn''t matter. My ribs healed somewhat from that hellish reforging and the added benefit of gaining health back from eating. Exiting the storage, I saw it was about the mid-afternoon or around 2:56 p.m. After looking at my watch, the screen cracked from my fight.
Thinking of what I could hunt next to complete this quest and escape this Forest, my nose and ears twitched as I stayed still. Seeing a black horned rabbit blending into the darkness, I smiled wide as this would more than definitely count as horned rabbits, like many monsters are capable of using spells, let alone having systems of their very own. Slowly drawing my knife as I got low, I used [Appraisal] to see it was lv 5 midnight horned hare. Readying my blade, I let it fly through the air as my new stats allowed it to shore home before it could jump away, impaling it mid-jump into a tree right through its skull.

I walked out of the Forest and training grounds, heading to the city center, ignoring the looks of disgust from people as my ears and tail gave away my werewolf race. Not too many were fond of us as we were seen as the most savage-like race of half-beasts. That and all the blood on my mouth and ripped coat told many I clearly ate something alive out there as I wore this bloody smile with pride, as others didn''t even bother to care. With some understanding, I had quite the hunt. They gave my thumbs up as I headed to the best guild in my city. The Daylight Martyrs. Pushing open the doors with a big show as multiple guild members looked over the doors, shooting open.

Chapter 6 Joining up
Chapter 6 Joining up
Many looked at my brazen display. Looks of jealousy or indifference were cast over me as I headed to the main desk. A woman who looked in her mid-20s looked at me with dark red piercing eyes and jet black hair, her skin flawless and smooth and beautiful as porcelain. A subtle hint of command came off her, and I could tell if she wanted, I would be killed without even a blink.
"Heh gonna keep staring at me or do all vampires like giving us mutts a look of death cus if ya keep it up, I would think you''d was smitten by my silvery locks." This only irritated the woman more. A visible eye twitch could be seen as others were watching and laughing, not at her, but at me. I''m sure this was common, but don''t mistake my words for flirting. I was doing this to annoy her. I knew this look very well. Many looked at me, let alone werewolves, with disgust and hate, no matter the time. Seems like prejudices would just be hardwired into someone''s head.
"you''d do best not to piss me off as I''m no ordinary desk helper. I am the vice guild leader, Snow Saint Berlin, and if you wish to join, I would hope you fall in line, little puppy." She said with dripping pride.
"Only a bitch would fall in line for no good reasons, and I''m well aware you weren''t an average helper due to your constant resting bitch face," I uttered with a sly grin.
"SNOW STOP...my god. You''re the vice guild leader and trying to chase away good stuff. I''ll be it arrogance or just ballsy to get attention," A very powerful yet pleasing voice said from the floor above. It was a male with flowing gold hair. As our eyes met, I felt him peeing deep into my soul, trying to see everything about me as I felt a large suppression.
~~[Unyielding Soul] is blocking the higher lv being from harming the user''s soul from the suppression being put on the user.... The user is not well attuned with the soul to stop suppression~~
This was the worst feeling I''ve experienced. I felt as if my entire being was endlessly stretched and pulled apart. The air was hot and unbearable....but staring this male down, not backing down from this, I knew I was being tested, my teeth grinding into each other so hard I felt they could shatter as I kept barring my fang, never going to submit.
"H-holy shit, the newbie is actually fighting back the guild''s masters suppression for so long?" said a random guild member.
"The last person who lasted this long was someone with a God''s system, right?" said another.
Multiple people talked and muttered, and the man finally smiled as everything around me returned to normal. Panting out roughly sweat-drenched my clothes and armor. I looked around before the guild master stood before me, holding out his hand as I shakily yet firmly grabbed it. "Welcome to the Daylight Martyrs. I''m guild master Leonidas Decker, or just Leo." He smiled as I composed myself, smiling back and shaking his hand.
"Blaze. Blaze Night''s, I''ll try and bring this guild many praises!"
Soon, the quiet guild hall was loud and lively as the addition of a new member to their ranks, especially one with a named system to boot. The guild master flicked Snow''s forehead before they both took me to a stone monument. In the center, I stood to see my system and stats to get me officially registered.
"Put your hand here, and we will see what level and realm you are at so we can give you a proper rank."Snow stated as I nodded, doing so. The monument was oddly warm and smooth despite the rough-looking surface.. Green lights started to flash, and they started tracing lines on the surface, almost like a circuit board.

"Accept," I said with no hesitation.

A system upgrade just by it being linked to a simple appraising monument? Then again, looking at the system, I noticed it needed to be updated, and some information was never given. For instance, my equipment stats are not showing up, separated from my actual stats. Or skill points, as I thought they were most likely locked due to a certain level, but the system is old. It has yet to be updated with the current status quo, which only adds more mystery to this system and Lycan. Soon, my system was displayed to me and the guild leaders.

"These are quite the stats for someone only at level 2. Do you know the difference between systems'' stat points on a level-up?" Leo stated as I nodded.
"Yeah, vaguely, only elite and named systems give more than 2 due to elite systems giving their users five stat points per level and named ones 10, correct? " I looked over at Leo, as I only knew a little about it, and the information was loosely vague.
"Yes, but your system should give you all the info. We will make you a D-ranked member, Snow, and please give him his badge and member ID." Leo said as he looked over my status. He saw my luck stat before looking at me but said nothing, pushing the screen away from the monument.
Snow handed me a golden badge with a sword and axe insignia and a cracked Halo above it, as well as a black card with my picture and the guild''s name. I took both before leaving to sell the stuff I had in storage and to check all the rewards and new functions of my system.
_Leo''s pov_
Scratching my chin, I watched the new member walk out of the lively guild hall to the shops we had in our building. Walking to my office, Snow followed suit.
"Sir, his stats are abnormal. Yes, most named systems have a way to increase stats easily. Yet there are still more-" Cutting off her saying anymore, I smiled, sitting down and pulling up a copy of his status. Sadly, I couldn''t get his skills info, but that was no issue for now. I''m sure he''ll expose some secrets as he grows closer to us.
"Snow, it''s okay. Besides, he''s useful, so get on his good side. What I''m more interested in is his luck. Not many are given such a stat without some form of payment to be given to THE WILL..yes..yes if we play our cards right, he will be a great asset in the upcoming guild battle, but we should earn his trust he came to us for protection, and we accepted because of his power. I hope This business deal will foster a long time of business." I said as my lovely vampires nodded before signing.
"Why a werewolf thought!? He reeks of filthy blood, and his arrogance is like every other mutt..." Her disdain for werewolves was very apparent in her voice. Sadly, she carried much prejudice against the natural enemy of her kind, but I would not tolerate any of it.
"You''d be best to keep your hateful remarks to yourself. You know very well why I made this guild to show that different races could thrive together and be stronger, united, and not separated by hate. Arrogance or not, you will treat him like any other here. Besides, besides we need more werewolves to join anyway. This will be good for reputation." I said, smiling as I turned my back as she walked out. I smile, looking at Blaze''s system, licking my lips.
"I wonder great devour what you will turn your hungry to next hehehe ~."
Chapter 7 Training 1
Chapter 7 Training 1
--The next day--
Sitting in my apartment, it was apparent I was too cocky from my hunting trip, not knowing the insides and out of my system, let alone all my skills. My system''s new customization now had tabs for each function, as three new functions were visible: quests, crafting, and titles.
[System functions]
[Stats][Skills][Storage][Quests][Craft][Titles][Quests]
were pretty simple. It was any current quest I''ve taken or given by the system or anyone else. [Crafting] was a tab. I could craft items with the help of the system, but it would only be low basic things if I took up actual crafting jobs like smithing, alchemy, sigil craft, or the like.
While [Titles] were something I could equip that could do some crazy things like stat boost, immunities, or even affect others to a degree, to unlock them, I''d have to task to get it like if I hunted over a hundred of a monster id get the slayer tag of that being giving me bonus effects when facing them.
There was also a change to my [Skill] menu as now I could obtain skills from the system itself that would be completely compatible, as well as some only it could teach me. I could also use my skill points to upgrade my skills instead of leveling them over time and just using them over time to increase proficiency. Opening it up, looking at it, I looked at it for a bit, looking at all the expensive skills and abilities before going to my [Storage]
I swiped my hand on the interface before pulling out the aura manual I was rewarded with. Taking a calming breath, I opened up the book and read it. It wasn''t a skill book per se, but if one could comprehend what was written, one could learn many skills from it. As if in a trance, the words I was reading started to blur, as well as the sigils and runes, as everything faded away in a dark gray light.
Suddenly, I was standing in a vast, endless sea and night sky filled with stars and a permanently eclipsed moon and sun. Looking around, I saw nothing but my reflection in the water I stood on, the floor of water under my feet rippling before going calm to mirror the sky."I...Is this...my soul...space?"
My voice resonated through the stillness, gradually fading into a soft whisper that danced on the breeze. As I began to stroll through this tranquil space, I acclimated to the serene silence enveloping me. I closed my eyes and placed my right hand gently over my heart, where an intense warmth surged within, like the glow of a hidden ember. When I reopened my eyes, I lifted my left hand, clutching tightly to that vibrant sensation. I felt it pulse and extend from my fingertips as a radiant blaze of gray and white ignited around it. This was no ordinary flame conjured from mere mana; it was a manifestation of my very essence, my soul¡¯s aura unfurling in the world.
Gradually, the flame began to shift and transform, transitioning from a rigid square to a sphere before ultimately settling into the shape of a diamond. This new form resonated deeply within me; it felt as if it were an extension of my very essence. According to the book, one must create their aura from a blank canvas to construct a core¡ªa tangible anchor that allows for a deeper connection with both the soul and the aura. The shimmering purple diamond seemed to embody the ideal representation of my soul core, embodying the potential for growth and transformation.
As I concentrated, pouring more thought and energy into it, the raw gem began to chip and fracture, releasing tiny shards that fell into the surrounding water, causing it to glow with an ethereal light. I surveyed the remnants of the gem, now an intricately cut piece, marred yet undeniably beautiful in its imperfection. While it might not appeal to everyone, I found a unique allure in its fractured state¡ªthis was something I deeply desired, an expression of my heart. With reverence, I cradled my soul core¡ªmy heart¡ªin my hands, savoring its warmth and the connection it represented. Slowly, I released my grip, watching as it floated into the vast emptiness around me, a delicate and radiant symbol of my inner self, searching for its place in the universe.
Support the creativity of authors by visiting Royal Road for this novel and more.
It pulsed and expanded gradually until it reached an impressive height of 8 meters, looming majestically above me and radiating a gentle, flickering warmth against the chill of the stunning, expansive darkness. With a serene smile, I felt a profound sense of completion enveloping me in this sacred realm of my heart and soul. I closed my eyes one final time, surrendering to the tranquility that filled the air around me. Waking up, blinking my eyes away, I saw that the book was still on my lap, the pages empty as it had served its purpose. It faded back into the Aether from which it was made. Looking at my phone, I saw I was only asleep for 5 minutes at best. Talk about surprising. I assumed I''d been out for hours. Well, it doesn''t matter, as I''d be taking these next few days to be training. There are many things I''d need to learn about this new body of mine, as well as use and get familiar with all my skills before I use any of my ten stat points or five skill points. First on that list was mental and spiritual training. I may know how to use my aura now, but it still needed to be faster to use in the heat of battle. Crossing my legs and putting my hands together in an open circle, I focused on all my enhanced senses, staring at my wall and trying to see all I could before closing my eyes.
Everything was black, and a soft ringing of the lack of sound went through my ears as I meditated and tried to push all my senses. Soon, everything was buzzing. A light, almost invisible aura flame ignited as I felt, heard, saw, smelled, and even tasted everything around me, everything being sent to me by my aura. This new way of processing info was indescribable before I was flooded with notifications.

~~ User has generated skill [Meditation]~~
Swiping away all the pop-ups beside one, I was already aware that [Aura senses] were a skill that lets me sense others from my aura and relay them back to my body or just a sensory skill, but [Meditation] was more interesting.
~[Mediation ] is an active skill and does not require any cost. It can be used to help the user recover lost mana and stamina at a faster rate. Additionally, this skill can enhance mental awareness and clarity and help channel one''s energy.~
With this new information, I activated [Mediation], as my main goal was to feel my mana and be able to use it to enhance my body, like once before gaining the system, before heading to the guild to train my body. I had a long way to go and a lot of catch-ups to do better to start now than never. I grew serious in my resolve to be stronger and have a life I could control: no more pain or betrayal.
My mind ignited with the image of a striking woman, her hair a captivating blend of deep ebony and fiery crimson, cascading like a waterfall of flames against her light chocolate skin. Her eyes, a mesmerizing shade of blood-red, sparkled with an intensity that held a universe of emotions. In this vivid vision, we stood together, our faces bright with joyful smiles, enveloped in the warmth of love that radiated between us, a moment frozen in time where nothing else mattered... Before, it soon went to scenes of me being run through with a spear, and my heart just barely missed the fatal wound, only to see the face I trusted. I loved. to betray me and walk away with another look in her eyes different from what was. At that moment, two years ago, I swore off love and my weakness, unable to keep the one I love, only for her to be stolen by someone stronger. She did love me, but her love for him and his power was far more significant. My right fist clenched so hard that my nails quickly drew blood, and gray flames blazed from my bloody hand. I will cast out my weakness and my despair. I Will Change This fate of mine that always takes and takes. No, I will take it will.
I WILL DEVOUR IT ALL!
Chapter 8 Training 2
Chapter 8 Training 2
-Three days later-
I immersed myself in relentless training day after day within the guild''s sprawling facilities, my determination fueling every movement. With sweat glistening on my brow, I drove my body and skills to the edge, honing my blade techniques until they danced in my hands like an extension of my very will. I delved deep into my arsenal of abilities, exploring each one¡¯s intricacies and discovering new ways to enhance them. Every swing of my sword resonated with precision, while the hum of my active skills momentarily filled the air, creating a symphony of power and growth. I remained steadfastly attuned to both my new talents and the foundational ones I had forged over time, eager to transcend my limits and emerge stronger than ever.
Guild master Leo told me about the upcoming Guild Tournament in two years and the level requirement: 25 at minimum and 30 at max. He said he saw great promise in me and could send high-level guild members to accompany me to help raise my level, but I declined, saying that, to level up, I would need at least five times more exp than usual and partying up would give me far less, so I was best off hunting alone. Every time I arrived here, I felt three powerful auras watching me. It was pretty annoying; most likely, they were the other guild members
participating in the tournament. After hearing about this and seeing that I had many resolves to get stronger in a proper way and not by just using my systems cheats, he gave me a map to some high-level training grounds as the lowest levels I''d find there would be lv 12, basically ten times my level to which I was more than happy to take. Still, he''d only let me go if I could get to level 5 by the following week''s end. I agree with his request, as my system generated a quest for such a thing.
~~[New Quest]]~~
~[Prove Your Metal and Smarts] The guild master Leo wishes to see if you''re strong enough to grow the way you want, reach level 5 by the next 14 days to obtain the map to the Artho Ruins~
-Reward Artho Ruins map~
-Reward ????? The second reward will not be given unless the user uses the luck stat to increase the quest''s difficulty [Yes/No?]~
"Yes," I said, accepting the harder difficulty
~[Yes] has been selected. For the remainder of the 14 days, all mobs and hostile beings that come across the user will be empowered by having their levels and stats doubled. Even if the user has completed the quest, every kill on someone of a higher level will yield bonus rewards.~
That was three days ago. I knew well enough by now I would have to fight and kill mortals, and with the new quest details, it was almost certain I''d come across some looking to kill me, most likely getting a reward from The Will to facilitate the hardness of my quest. This was why I was training so much harder before returning to the Dark Forest. I was ensuring at least most of my skills were higher than lv 1. I also managed to get some much-needed new ones just by training my ass off to the brink of death, with no rest besides when I passed out from overwork.
Others would call me a madman or crazy for doing such destructive training, but that was the key to getting rare skills through blood, sweat, and effort and pushing yourself past what you can do. The skills I got were pretty good, as the training room I was in was isolated and filled with many slash marks, small craters, and many burn marks and blood splatter from myself.
This novel is published on a different platform. Support the original author by finding the official source.
~[Claws slash lv:3] has evolved into [Wolf Fang lv:3] From the user being able to implement claw slash into one''s blades, now having the added benefit to unleash mana and aura-infused slashes from one''s claws or medium that can slash at something Costs 20 mp.~
~[Blossom dance lv:2]: A blade dance formed from a good understanding of the unique wielding of a sword and knife duel wielding mastery. An original skill created from Gray Eclipse NIghts. Damages the foe or foes hits by a 9-hit move and does double damage for each concessive hit. It costs 80 mp; however, the move can also be used with the cost of doing no additional damage as it is a move that can be done with just a blade alone.~
~[Dual Wielding Lv:3]: This wielder of blades has transcended the mundane, mastering the art of dual weapon combat with remarkable finesse. They deftly wield two weapons with each fluid motion, creating a whirlwind of steel that dances through the air. This extraordinary skill has sharpened their reflexes and deepened their understanding of the intricate dance of two-handed combat. As a testament to their relentless training and dedication, they enjoy a permanent 10% boost in the attack speed of their dual weapons. With every engagement, as their prowess continues to grow, the benefits of wielding two weapons become even more formidable, unleashing a tempest of strikes that leaves opponents bewildered and overwhelmed.~
~[Knife throwing lv:2]: Repeated action of throwing one''s knives or daggers with skill and precision has allowed the user to further their mastery of the art of throwing one''s weapon, allowing thrown knives to do double damage to a target and five times more if one hits a vital or weakened spot.~
~[Mana Strengthening Lv 2]: This ability allows the user to channel their mana directly into their own body, enhancing their strength and agility by two points each. One of its notable advantages is that it requires no mana cost for activation since the mana is effectively harnessed from within, flowing into the user''s muscles and reflexes. However, this short-lived boost comes at a significant price: the longer the mana is channeled, the quicker the user will experience mental fatigue and physical exhaustion. Prolonged use can lead to a rapid depletion of stamina, making this technique a double-edged sword. While it may offer a temporary improvement in combat or physical tasks, the overall effectiveness is limited, and its demands on the user''s body can render it more harmful than beneficial. This form of mana manipulation is considered an elementary and rather feeble technique in the realm of advanced mana users, often dismissed as insufficient for serious applications in challenging situations.~
~[Stamina Recovery Lv 2]: Through relentless perseverance and the tenacity to push beyond physical limits time and again, the user has unlocked the ability to quickly rejuvenate stamina at a remarkable pace. This newfound resilience not only accelerates recovery but also enhances overall stamina capacity, empowering the user to endure longer and tackle challenges with renewed vigor.~
Sadly, there were a few skills I could not level up as they required me to use the skill and the bonus actions to increase their level. After all this, I used some of the 15,000 gold I got for selling both the rare scaled fish man as well as its pristine sea stone trident to buy 50 standard potions at 50 gold and 15 standard mana potions for 250g, taking out 6,250g of my 15,300g leaving me with about 9,050g left. With that, I returned to the forest this time, more than prepared for what could come my way.
I was no longer a weak little runt of a litter, and I would show all who crossed me the power that I have and will gain. This was an insecurity I would always struggle with from years of verbal and physical abuse from many other members of my family. The only few who showed my kindness were my immediate family, more so than some others.

Chapter 9 Hunting and Hunted 1
Chapter 9 Hunting and Hunted 1
After arriving in the forest, I went to work over two days, killing over three groups of 3 level 5 goblins with relative ease. I didn''t even bother to be stealthy. I just went in, guns a-blazing, as I cut through their flesh like it was cheap paper. My blades were covered in blood.
During my recent combat engagement, I found myself grinning from ear to ear. The thrill of battle was like no other, and I relished every moment of it. Additionally, hunting provided me with a great source of joy. However, my last skirmish was mudded by carelessness on my part, resulting in some injuries sustained.

Letting out a challenging howl, I wanted a challenge I wanted to hunt. Storing the bodies in my [Storage], loud, heavy steps were heard coming around me. Extending out my [Aura Sense], I got ready, smiling. I didn''t expect a level 11 Hobgoblin to lumber out to challenge my howl of an alpha. The hulking monster towered over me, standing at about 15 feet tall and brandishing a claymore in its large green hand as if it was a shortsword, a barely alive male fully clad in banged-up but still pretty good steel armor.
The monster was dragging him, and when I checked his level, it was 15. Surprisingly, he and his party were most likely overconfident or taken by surprise. Seeing the fresh blood and flesh on the monster''s grinning lips, I could tell he was most likely the only survivor.
The poor bastard was staring at me, tears clearly seen through his visor, but not one for help but a better swift death than to be eaten alive. In my eyes, the once happiness was replaced with rage and hate. I had no reason to care about this man or what happened to him, but even I wouldn''t be blind to the contempt of this dog-eat-dog world or the hatred of weakness, launching myself at the large hobgoblin. I sent out an x-crossed [Wolf Fang] at it and swiped its large blade at my attack.

As it was distracted, blocking my attack, making it tilt back some off balance, I swiftly let my sword fly, slicing through the neck of the man in one quick stroke throwing his body, head, and all into my [Storage] the hobgoblin yelled out in anger, clashing it large sword into my sword and knife, my entire body shuddered and screamed from the sheer force of the blow, pushing my quite far back, but I held my ground, my hands, and legs shaking from the shock, my wicked smile was back, if this were my old body...no just the old me that hit alone would leave my body crippled like the poor fellow before.

"Is That All You Got!!!!" I screamed at the monster. As I charged the beast, the silver in my eyes glowed dimly as the shaggy hair on my body seemed to get thicker and brighter. This was all due to [Lycan''s Rage]. Again, our blades clashed as they growled and snarled at me. I defiantly growled back, not backing down as we were now equal in strength. Not one of us was being pushed back, and we fought over who would win out in this test of power. Sparks started coming off its body, its skin turning red, and its muscles bulking out all over as my eyes grew wide. It had a [Rage] skill of its own as I was quickly being overpowered, but my smile never left. For a strong opponent like this, it deserved to have some overkill done to it. Shocking the somewhat intelligent brute, a bloody heart materialized in front of my face, quickly pumping away 20 of my stats, away first. I bit into the heart, launching the giant beast into the air above me as it fell back down, about to crush my body.

Feeling every muscle in my body tighten and compact with new power, I boosted myself even more with my mana, pushing myself to my limit! Gray and white aura flames spun around my blades as I was at no level to channel my aura through my blades, so the next best thing was to wrap them around them as a kind of faux blade aura as I let lose my strongest attack right as it was going to crush me.
"[BLOSSOM DANCE]!" I yelled out.
As I started swiping up in a spinning dance motion, my blade sliced into its skin so hard and fast it kept it suspended. The first waltz cut away, the second and third, and fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, and finally! Crossing both dancers together in a lover''s embrace. The short knife and the long sword together in an X, twirling together. The grand dance climaxed as the ninth and final strike cut the beast in two. Fiery petals lay around me, blood burned before it could rain on my body, and the flames blew away into the wind as simple sparks and blazes.

Storing the claymore away, deactivating my skills, I quickly dug out the heart, eating it then and there as I was rewarded with notifications.

Sadly, I was interrupted from reading the two skills from the hobgoblin in detail. I quickly chose one, turning around to see a group of three people. A level 13 human male with a tome in one hand and a red broadsword on his back. A level 17 woman, a dark elf with a red crossbow and whip, finally. A level 25 male, exuding a powerful aura with a dark red halberd on his back. These people all had scarlite gear, better than the steel of the corpse I had on me. I cursed internally as one look could tell they wanted to attack me. I needed to stall or something, or else I was a dead man...
