An ancient heritage of immense power, a new bloodline with limitless potential.
When you inherit dragon-killing gear, you get assigned to kill dragons. And when you¡¯re the youngest and least experienced of the family, you get sent on the least respectable hunt. That was the case for Tristan; sent to kill a gods-damned fairy dragon. The most cunning and tricky of all of them.
He had almost caught and slain the blasted thing a few times, but it always slipped him. When he finally catches his quarry, she runs away to the Fey Realm. And like a good dragonslayer, he chases her there. But upon arriving, his heritage awakens.
He gains the ancient power of his mother¡¯s bloodline and learns of a vault containing forgotten secrets. But he is not yet strong enough to unlock the door. The very creature Tristan was hunting becomes his mentor and companion as he sets out to obtain the power to claim his birthright. The author''s tale has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.
But he has a shortcut to power. His family doesn¡¯t just kill dragons because they need to be hunted ¨C they kill those creatures to consume their strength. And there are plenty of dragons out there to eat.

Last Lord of the Fey is an epic-scale, long-duration progression fantasy.
It is a slow burn (for context, the first dragon fight does not occur until Chapter 38). Do not expect rapid gains or advancement.
There is a heavy focus on world building, developing the various systems of progression, and not just talking about how to progress, but showing that progress. Once that process of progress is shown, it may be summarized to keep pacing appropriate (aka, mini time-skips for rote training).
The story is told from a singular perspective; (third-person, limited omniscience) that follows Tristan. There are no point-of-view swaps, and the story entirely follows him and his adventure.
