《Sovereign of Shadows》
Chapter 1: Darkness-Born Sovereign
Kieran Voss stood at the entrance of the dungeon, a faint unease visible on his face. As his teammates moved ahead, he tried to suppress the anxiety bubbling within him. This was his tenth dungeon expedition, yet he had never truly felt useful. As an F-rank hunter, his abilities were nearly nonexistent. Most of the time, he played a support role, but even that seemed like a burden to his teammates.
"Hey Kieran! Don''t fall behind!" called out Nathan, the team leader. As always, there was a hint of condescension in his voice.
Gritting his teeth, Kieran quickened his pace. This dungeon was different from the others. It wasn¡¯t even registered in the Hunter Association¡¯s records. But the potential reward was too great, so the team had decided to take the risk.
The dungeon''s interior was dark and eerie. Strange symbols covered the walls, and the air was thick with dampness. As they ventured deeper, the darkness grew denser, and an unsettling cold seeped into their bones.
"I have a bad feeling about this place," muttered Lila, the team''s mage, glancing around nervously.Help support creative writers by finding and reading their stories on the original site.
"What, are you scared?" laughed Roland, the warrior. "It''s just like any other dungeon. Just a little... gloomier."
But Kieran had learned to trust his instincts. Something was wrong here.
Suddenly, something dropped from the ceiling. A massive shadow surrounded the team. Glowing red eyes pierced through the darkness as a monstrous entity emerged.
"What the hell is that?!" shouted Nathan, drawing his sword.
The system¡¯s danger warning echoed:
[Warning! SS-Rank Boss Monster Detected: Shadow God.]
The team panicked and engaged in battle, but Kieran stayed back. Fear and helplessness paralyzed him. This thing was far beyond their level. They didn¡¯t even have a chance to escape.
With a single strike, the creature sent Roland flying and effortlessly deflected Nathan¡¯s sword. Lila tried to cast a spell, but before she could, the monster engulfed her in shadows.
Kieran¡¯s eyes widened. His teammates were falling one by one. And he... he was doing nothing.
Then, the shadows wrapped around him as well. Whispers slithered into his mind.
[Do you not want to die?]
An unknown voice echoed in his ears. Kieran¡¯s heart pounded wildly. He was drowning in fear, yet his will to survive burned fiercely.
"Yes!" he shouted inwardly.
[Then accept my power. Are you ready to pay the price?]
There was no alternative. He didn¡¯t want to die. Clenching his teeth, Kieran responded, "I''m ready!"
At that moment, the world turned black.
And Kieran Voss made a pact with the shadows.
Chapter 2: Trial of the Abyss
Kieran gasped as he opened his eyes. But instead of the dungeon he remembered, he found himself in an endless void of darkness. The shadows around him writhed, whispering in an ancient, unintelligible language.
[You have entered the Abyssal Domain.]
A strange sensation coursed through his body. He felt no pain, no exhaustion¡ªonly an overwhelming power surging through his veins. When he looked at his hands, he saw them shrouded in thick black mist. The mist moved as if it had a will of its own.
"What... is this place?" he murmured, his voice echoing.
[You have made a pact with the Abyss. The power of shadows is now at your command.]
Suddenly, the darkness before him shifted, forming a humanoid silhouette. Its crimson eyes glowed, and just its presence was enough to make Kieran¡¯s skin crawl.
"Who are you?" he asked, steadying himself as he stood up.
[You are now bound to the Sovereignty of Shadows. I am merely a fragment of its will. And you¡ are its new heir.]The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.
Kieran swallowed hard. He had no idea what he had gotten himself into. But one thing was certain¡ªhe was no longer the pathetic F-rank hunter everyone saw him as.
The shadows around him pulsed and reshaped themselves. When Kieran raised his hands, blades of darkness materialized around him. He realized he could control them with mere thought. With a few minor movements, he began testing their responsiveness. At first, it was clumsy, but after several attempts, he was able to wield them freely.
[Your ability: Shadow Weapons has been activated.]
As he tried to grasp this newfound power, another strange sensation formed within him. The shadows around him seemed to obey his will. When he took a step forward, his body suddenly dissolved into the darkness and reappeared several meters away.
His eyes widened in astonishment. This wasn¡¯t just speed... he was literally moving through the shadows!
[Your ability: Shadow Step has been activated.]
He tested it again, teleporting to another spot. His body merged with the shadows and reemerged seamlessly. Now, he wasn¡¯t just going to fight¡ªhe would dominate the battlefield with absolute mobility.
But just then, another figure emerged from the shadows. This one was different from the previous entity¡ªlarger, more menacing. Its eyes were pure white, and its form was a constantly shifting mass of shadows.
[Trial Commencing. Survive or be erased.]
As the system¡¯s cold notification rang out, Kieran took a battle stance. The Abyss had granted him power, but now, it was going to test him.
His first real fight was about to begin.
Chapter 3: Bloody Awakening
Kieran took a deep breath, the shadows around him rippling like a restless tide. The menacing entity before him was entirely composed of darkness, its form shifting constantly. Its glowing white eyes radiated a soulless yet deadly presence.
[Trial Initiated. Survive or be erased.]
The system¡¯s cold notification echoed as Kieran felt himself merge with the shadows. His hands moved instinctively, and suddenly, two daggers wrapped in black energy materialized in his grasp. He knew, without a doubt, that these weapons were a part of him. But something stirred in his mind¡ªthese blades didn¡¯t have to remain in their current form.
The entity lunged at him, forming a claw from the surrounding darkness and swiping toward Kieran. At the last moment, he activated Shadow Step, vanishing from his spot and reappearing several meters away. But the entity quickly adjusted, launching another assault. Kieran, trusting his instincts, slashed in a cross-motion. His twin daggers carved through the creature, leaving a dark trail behind. The entity wavered for a moment but swiftly regained its form.
"Just cutting won¡¯t be enough¡" Kieran thought.
He closed his eyes, steadying his breath, and concentrated on the shadows coursing through his body. At that moment, he realized¡ªhe could manipulate the very essence of these shadows, not just wield them as weapons.
The swirling darkness around him condensed into a vortex. Gripping his daggers tightly, he felt raw energy surging through them. Then, with an instinctual command, the blades multiplied. First four, then six¡ Within seconds, dozens of shadowy daggers floated around him. Kieran teleported around the battlefield, increasing the intensity of his attacks. Each strike grew sharper with the infusion of shadow energy, and the entity finally began to falter. If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. Please report it.
This was the moment to end it.
Kieran spread his hands wide, directing all the floating daggers toward a single target.
"Shadow Rain."
In an instant, the daggers shot forward, piercing the entity from every direction. The shadows enveloped the creature, preventing it from escaping. It let out a shriek of agony as its form trembled and, at last, shattered into nothingness.
[Trial Completed.]
Kieran¡¯s vision blurred. His energy was completely drained. As he exhaled one last time, the world around him faded into darkness.
When Kieran opened his eyes, the cold, hard stone beneath him sent sharp pains through his back. He turned his head slightly, seeing the cracked ceiling of the dungeon. But something far worse caught his attention¡ªthe blood surrounding him¡ªhis own blood.
His body was covered in cuts and wounds. He tried to lift his head, but an unbearable pain shot through him. Then, the system¡¯s voice echoed once more:
[Quest completed. Exit from the dungeon granted.]
As he glanced around, he realized he was no longer in the Abyssal Domain. This was¡ the real world. But he wasn¡¯t alone.
A heavily armored man stood before him, his black cape embroidered with golden patterns. His sharp eyes scrutinized Kieran with the gaze of a seasoned warrior. The hunters beside him whispered amongst themselves. Kieran was barely conscious, but he instinctively knew who this man was.
He was Damien Blackwood, the leader of Duskborn Lodge, the most powerful of the four great guilds.
Damien frowned, his voice firm and demanding:
"Who are you? How are you still alive in this condition?"
Kieran¡¯s bloodied lips parted, his voice barely audible. With great effort, he managed to whisper:
"Help¡ me."
One thing was certain¡ªhe was no longer just a weak, F-rank hunter. But in this new world, he had yet to discover what that truly meant.

Chapter 4: First Contact with the Lord of Shadows
Kieran opened his eyes, his vision blurred by a dazzling white light. A throbbing headache pulsed through his skull as he tried to regain his senses. When he saw the ceiling, he realized he was in a hospital. Slowly, he breathed in and out, his body still aching.
"So, you''re finally awake."
Kieran turned his head. A tall man with a powerful aura had entered the room. His short black hair and sharp gaze gave him a charismatic presence. The black guild jacket he wore signified that he was no ordinary person. This man was Darius Alden, leader of the Ironclad Guild.
"Did you save me?" Kieran asked, his voice still weak.
Darius nodded. "Yes. We found you covered in blood. Your teammates... they''re all dead. You were the only survivor. Is there something you need to tell me?"
Kieran swallowed hard. Memories of the dungeon resurfaced¡ªshadows, monsters, and... the system. But he couldn''t reveal everything to this man. If he mentioned the system, they would investigate him. He had to avoid drawing attention for now.
"As far as I remember..." he said, his voice trembling, "something suddenly went wrong. The monsters were far stronger than expected. We... couldn''t stop them. Before I passed out, everything was blood and screams. After that, nothing."
Darius narrowed his eyes. "Is that really all? You''re the only one who survived¡ªwhy?"
Kieran forced himself to appear weak and helpless, shaking his head. "Luck... I guess I was just lucky. At some point, everything went dark, and when I woke up, I was here."If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it''s taken without the author''s consent. Report it.
Darius scrutinized him but didn''t push further. "Alright, get some rest for now. But I expect to see you again soon. Come visit me at my guild''s headquarters."
With that, he turned and left the room. Kieran took a deep breath. For now, he was safe, but the unease within him remained. The system''s presence pulsed inside him.
Slowly, he took a deep breath and thought: Open System Interface.
A translucent screen appeared before him:

Just then, a dark voice echoed from the depths of his mind:
"So, you survived..."
Kieran flinched. The voice resonated directly in his head¡ªcold, authoritative, and carrying a weight behind every word.
"Who¡¯s there?" he asked, glancing around. But he was alone in the room.
"Me? I am your greatest trial... and your ultimate fate."
Kieran¡¯s breath hitched. This was the Shadow God.
"You bear a mere fragment of my power, and I am watching you. You are weak. But that will change."
Kieran clenched his teeth. Was this entity the one that had granted him the system in the dungeon? "What do you want from me?"
"Let¡¯s see... I want to witness how long you can endure. But first... I will keep watching you. If you fail, the shadows will consume you."
The voice abruptly vanished. Kieran was left breathless. The shadows around him trembled slightly... and he knew¡ª
He was no longer alone.
And this was only the beginning...
Chapter 5: Wrath of Darkness
Kieran walked through the grand doors of the Ironclad Guild, his body still aching from the wounds he had suffered. Darius Alden had summoned him, and refusing wasn¡¯t an option. If he acted suspiciously, things could turn against him quickly.
As he stepped inside, he felt the piercing gazes of the guild members. Whispers filled the air¡ªeveryone knew he was the sole survivor of the disastrous dungeon expedition.
"Kieran Voss," a deep voice called.
He turned to see Darius standing at the center of the hall, arms crossed. The guild leader¡¯s presence was overwhelming, his sharp eyes locked onto Kieran like a predator watching its prey.
"Come with me."
Kieran followed Darius into a private interrogation room. The door shut behind them with a heavy thud. A long table separated them, but the tension in the room made the space feel suffocating.
"I¡¯ll get straight to the point," Darius said, his voice firm. "How did you survive?"
Kieran maintained a calm expression. "I told you before¡ The monsters were stronger than we expected. Everything went wrong in an instant. I don¡¯t know how, but I must¡¯ve been lucky. I blacked out, and when I woke up, I was in the hospital."
Darius leaned forward, his piercing gaze intensifying. "Do you really expect me to believe that? Your entire team was wiped out, yet you¡ªan F-rank hunter¡ªwalked away alive?"You might be reading a pirated copy. Look for the official release to support the author.
Kieran clenched his fists under the table. "Luck¡ maybe fate. I don¡¯t know."
Darius slammed his hand on the table, the sound echoing through the room. "You¡¯re hiding something. And I don¡¯t like being lied to."
Something inside Kieran snapped. The frustration, the exhaustion, and the lingering presence of the Shadow God¡ªit all surged forward.
A chilling darkness erupted from his body. The room was swallowed by an oppressive shadow, tendrils of black mist writhing in the air. The temperature dropped instantly, and an overwhelming pressure pressed down on everything in the room.
Kieran stood up abruptly, his voice shaking with fury. "I CAME HERE JUST TO EXPLAIN WHAT HAPPENED, BUT I¡¯M NOT GOING TO BE FORCED INTO REVEALING THINGS I DON¡¯T WANT TO!"
Darius¡¯s breath hitched. His knees buckled, and he collapsed onto the ground, gasping for air. The sheer weight of the darkness made it impossible for him to move.
The guild members outside heard the commotion and rushed to the door. As they opened it, they were met with an eerie sight¡ªDarius kneeling, Kieran standing tall amidst swirling shadows.
Their eyes widened in shock.
Kieran didn¡¯t wait. He activated [Shadow Step], his body flickering before vanishing into the darkness. In an instant, he was gone, leaving nothing but a cold, haunting silence behind.
Panting, Kieran reappeared in a secluded alleyway far from the guild. He leaned against the wall, trying to steady his breathing. That¡ wasn¡¯t intentional. The power had acted on its own, fueled by his emotions.
"I need to learn how to control this¡" he muttered.
He had to grow stronger. He had to understand his abilities. And the only way to do that was through battle.
Recalling the Shadow God¡¯s words, Kieran made a decision. He would join a temporary group, enter another dungeon, and test his strength.
He gripped the twin daggers at his waist, his resolve solidifying.
It was time to see what he was truly capable of.
Chapter 6 - Blood Bond or Curse
Kieran found a notice on the Hunter Association¡¯s board looking for a team to join a dungeon mission. The mission involved hunting monsters in a D-rank dungeon and collecting specific materials. Without much thought, he applied. The team leader was Lance Carter, a C-rank hunter. He was a middle-aged, sturdy man who had ventured into dungeons many times before. Aside from him, the team had three other members: a shield warrior, an archer, and a mage girl.
The mage girl had been looking down on Kieran ever since they entered the dungeon. Her name was Evelyn, a D+ rank mage with fire-element abilities. Her best offensive skill was Flame Spear. When she learned that Kieran was an F-rank, she scoffed and shot him a disdainful look. ¡°What are you doing here? Are you going to be a burden?¡± she said mockingly.
At the start of the dungeon, everything was normal. The group hunted low-level monsters. Kieran fought carefully, using his shadows strategically and wielding his daggers skillfully to take down several monsters. However, Lance and the others didn¡¯t seem to trust him much. Especially Evelyn, who kept throwing sarcastic remarks at every opportunity.
But things soon took a turn. At one point, the group was ambushed by a pack of Shadow Hunters¡ªmonsters capable of moving within the darkness. Their attacks were swift and deadly. The shield warrior tried to hold them back while Evelyn cast her spells for support. However, she failed to notice something¡ªone of the Shadow Hunters had slipped through the darkness and was preparing to strike her from behind.
Kieran noticed it immediately. Without hesitation, he used Shadow Step, moving at lightning speed behind Evelyn and drawing his daggers. In one swift motion, he eliminated the monster.
Evelyn had barely escaped death. Her face turned pale as she stared at Kieran in shock.
After that incident, the group began to see Kieran in a different light. Evelyn, who had been full of disdain, said nothing, but the contempt in her eyes was replaced with silent surprise.
Just when things seemed to be settling down... the dungeon suddenly began to tremble.
The ground shook, cracks formed in the walls, and an ominous energy filled the air.
Lance shouted, ¡°What the hell is happening?!¡± Just then, a system notification appeared.
WARNING! DUNGEON LEVEL INCREASING.
NEW DUNGEON CATEGORY: A+
The group''s faces turned pale. A+ rank?! If monsters of that level appeared, their chances of escape were nearly nonexistent.
And just like that, Kieran and his team found themselves facing an unexpected disaster¡Help support creative writers by finding and reading their stories on the original site.
When the dungeon''s rank suddenly rose to A+, the entire team froze in shock. Lance clenched his teeth and gripped his sword tighter. "This is bad..." he muttered. The shield warrior and the archer exchanged worried glances. Evelyn''s face was pale; she didn¡¯t even realize she had narrowly escaped death just moments ago. But now, they were facing an even greater threat.
The ground trembled once more. An ominous darkness began to rise from the depths of the cave. Kieran felt the sheer power emanating from it, and a chill ran down his spine. This was no ordinary dungeon¡ A catastrophe was approaching.
"We need to get out of here immediately!" Lance shouted. But just then, the system notification completed:
Exit Gate Locked.
Boss Monster is Being Determined¡
"What?!" the archer cried out in fear. "We''re locked in?! No way¡ We won¡¯t make it out alive!"
At that moment, a roar echoed from the depths of the cave. The dark ceiling of the dungeon was illuminated by flickering purple lights, and from within the shadows, a colossal creature emerged.
Its body was covered in obsidian-black scales, its eyes glowed with a blood-red radiance, and its massive wings sent tremors through the air.
Standing before them was a Shadow Drake!
[A+ Rank: Shadow Drake]
Threat Level: Deadly
As the Shadow Drake¡¯s terrifying aura filled the cave, every member of the team found themselves unable to move. The pressure was so intense, it felt as if a massive stone had been placed on their chests. Even Kieran struggled to breathe.
This creature¡ was truly a disaster.
The drake lifted its head and let out another thunderous roar, causing the ceiling of the cave to crack and debris to rain down. Reacting swiftly, Kieran grabbed Evelyn and pulled her back just in time. She had barely escaped being crushed by falling rocks. The shield warrior immediately raised his guard, but his hands were trembling.
"What do we do?!" Evelyn asked in terror. "That thing¡ It¡¯s at least ten times stronger than us!"
Lance wiped the sweat from his forehead and spoke. "We need to fight strategically! First, we must distract it! Archer, move to the farthest point and fire your shots! Evelyn, suppress it with your magic! Shield warrior, strengthen your defenses! Kieran, you¡ª"
Lance¡¯s words were cut off.
Because Kieran¡ had already moved.
Unlike the others, he wasn¡¯t frozen in fear. On the contrary, the darkness within him was stirring. For the first time since acquiring his system, he was about to test his true power.
Clutching his daggers tightly, shadows began to swirl around his body. A voice whispered in his mind:
-"Fear not. The shadows will never abandon you."
His eyes gleamed.
Then, suddenly, a surge of overwhelming darkness erupted from his body. The shadows coiled around him like a living vortex, radiating raw power. Kieran¡¯s fury and strength spilled forth, untamed and uncontrollable.
At that exact moment, the Shadow Drake¡¯s eerie voice echoed through the cavern:
"I never expected to meet a sibling in this world."
Its deep, reverberating voice sent shivers through the air, followed by a chilling laugh.
Kieran¡¯s eyes darkened even further. His teeth clenched, and the shadows around him pulsed violently.
"A monster like you¡ could never be my brother!" he roared. His voice carried a force that shook the cavern itself.
And then¡ªthe shadows fully unleashed.
Kieran gripped his daggers and lunged toward the drake. The darkness trailing from his body surged outward in waves as he initiated the first strike.
Thus began the deadly battle between Kieran and the Shadow Drake¡
Chapter 7 - Sovereign of Shadows
Kieran focused on the massive creature before him, gripping his daggers tightly. The boss hovered in the dungeon like a dark entity, swinging its colossal shadowy arms as it prepared to attack. Kieran took a deep breath and vanished into the shadows. Using Shadow Step, he suddenly appeared behind the creature, but the boss quickly changed direction and lunged at him with a giant claw.
"This thing is much faster than I thought!" Kieran muttered. At the last moment, he rolled to the side and slashed with his daggers. Shadow Rain!
Daggers made of black energy rained down from the sky, embedding themselves in the creature''s body. However, instead of crying out in pain, the monster seemed to gain strength and slammed its shadowy arms to the ground, creating a powerful shockwave. Kieran was thrown backward and managed to stop himself by crashing into a pillar.
The team captain shouted, "Be careful! Don''t underestimate it!"
Kieran gritted his teeth and got back on his feet. His shadow abilities felt stronger than ever, but this boss was no ordinary creature. Raising his hands, he gathered the shadows once more.
"I WILL DESTROY YOU!" he yelled, unleashing all his power. Suddenly, the shadows around him spread like a wild hurricane, engulfing the entire dungeon in darkness. A cold and oppressive force filled the area, causing his teammates to retreat in fear. Their eyes widened, and their breath caught.
The wizard girl dropped to her knees, trembling as she whispered, "W-what... what kind of power is this?"
The team captain also stared at Kieran in disbelief. "Is this guy... a monster?!"Enjoying this book? Seek out the original to ensure the author gets credit.
Kieran stepped forward, fists clenched with shadows swirling around him, growing stronger with every movement. The boss charged with a deafening roar. Kieran used Shadow Step to leap onto the creature in the blink of an eye, slashing his daggers with all his might.
The creature, flowing like a shadow, quickly shaped its body to evade Kieran¡¯s attack and struck him with a massive punch. Kieran was sent flying but managed to land on his feet, breathing heavily as the shadows flickered around him like sparks.
"Shadow Claw!" he shouted, plunging one of his daggers into the darkness. Suddenly, massive shadowy claws erupted from the ground, ensnaring the boss. The creature roared in fury and tried to break free from the entangling shadows.
Kieran pressed on with his assault. Using Shadow Clone, he created three shadowy duplicates and commanded them to attack the boss from different angles. The real Kieran blended in with his clones and lunged for the creature''s weak point.
However, the boss was clever. With a swift motion, it shaped a spear from the shadows and obliterated Kieran''s clones, launching itself at him. Kieran narrowly dodged using Shadow Step, but the spear grazed his arm, sending a searing pain through his body.
"Damn... this creature is no ordinary boss!"
The boss swung its shadowy arms toward Kieran, shattering the ground beneath him. Kieran knew he needed to devise a plan as he quickly retreated. He gathered the shadows once more and squinted his eyes.
"It''s time to end this!"
Shadow Storm!
In an instant, all the shadows in the dungeon began swirling around Kieran like a vortex. The surroundings transformed into a dark hell, restricting the creature''s movements. Kieran charged forward, plunging his daggers into the boss''s chest and concentrating all the shadows into a single point before detonating them.
The boss let out a deafening scream. Its body quaked, began to crack, and ultimately collapsed into a massive explosion of shadows. Kieran staggered back, breathless, sensing that the battle was over.
His teammates stared at him in horror. They knelt on the ground, trembling in the presence of the immense dark power Kieran had wielded. He was no longer just an F-rank hunter.
He was the sovereign of the dungeon.
The battle had ended.
Chapter 8: The Rise of Darkness
Surviving in chaos was as difficult as making it out of the battlefield. As Kieran stepped out of the dungeon with heavy steps, he was out of breath. The other team members were just as exhausted, but there was something more dominant than their fatigue: astonishment and fear.
Damon, the C-level hunter and team leader, stared silently at Kieran for a while. There was an expression in his eyes that he couldn''t comprehend. Just a few minutes ago, they had seen him as an F-level hunter, but now he had not only survived an A+ level dungeon but had also become the hero in many critical moments.
The team''s mage, Elara, was the first to break the silence with her trembling voice.
¡°You... what exactly are you?¡± Her eyes widened with fear.
Kieran paused for a moment. What could he say in response? He didn''t even fully understand himself. But here, he needed to project a strong and controlled image to the outside world. He shrugged and replied with a calm expression.
¡°I¡¯m a hunter.¡±
Damon nodded with a slight smile. ¡°If you¡¯re a hunter, I don¡¯t know what we are. But we must admit one thing: being on the battlefield with you is definitely not a bad feeling.¡±
The atmosphere softened a bit, but no one felt completely at ease. A few minutes later, Damon turned to Kieran and made a proposal.
¡°Look, after such a dangerous battle, we deserve to relax a bit. Let¡¯s go to a bar and celebrate this.¡±
Kieran thought for a moment. He didn¡¯t want to get too close, but it wouldn¡¯t be right to completely push these people away either. He nodded slightly in agreement. This content has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.
The bar was noisy and lively. The tables were full, people were laughing, and hunters were sharing their adventures with one another. The team settled into a small corner. Damon ordered a round of drinks, and the glasses filled up one by one.
Elara still occasionally looked at Kieran in astonishment. Damon, wanting to ease her, took most of the conversation upon himself. ¡°Today, for the first time in my life, I thought I would die in a dungeon,¡± he laughed. ¡°But apparently, I was wrong.¡±
Kieran only managed a faint smile. As the conversation progressed, he began to feel the need to speak more. However, just as he sipped his drink, his vision suddenly darkened. A voice echoed in his ear, silencing the whole world:
¡°Congratulations, my heir. You have completed your first trial. Therefore, I will grant you a skill.¡±
For a moment, Kieran felt as if his breath had been taken away.
The Shadow God.
Time seemed to stand still. As dark energy swirled in his mind, a system notification appeared before his eyes.
New Skill Acquired: Shadow Soldiers.
Kieran''s pupils dilated slightly. This was not just a simple skill; it was the ability to turn shadows into soldiers...
Elara¡¯s voice brought him back to the moment. ¡°Kieran? Are you okay?¡±
Kieran nodded slightly, but he was struggling to hide the growing excitement within him.
He was on the verge of a new power.
He couldn¡¯t wait to try this new ability. Gathering the energy within him, he left the bar and walked to a secluded part of the city. The dim light of the street lamps stretched and enlarged the shadows around him. Assured that no one would disturb him, he took a deep breath and focused his mind on his new skill.
He could feel the shadows. They were not just darkness; they felt alive, like shapeshifting beings. He raised his hand and squeezed lightly. The shadows trembled and concentrated as if they had received a command. Suddenly, a dark shape emerged from the ground, taking on a three-dimensional form as it rose.
¡°Rise, my soldiers!¡± Kieran commanded.
Two skeletal warriors emerged from the shadows. Clad in black armor, their eyes glowed with a faint purple light as they knelt before Kieran, awaiting orders.
A faint smile appeared on Kieran¡¯s face. This was just the beginning of his power.
¡°Interesting...¡± he murmured.
The shadows would no longer be just a tool; they would become the foundation of his army.
Chapter 9: Confrontation with the Lord of Darkness
He was eager to test this new ability. Gathering the energy inside him, he left the tavern and walked toward a quiet corner of the city. The dim light of the street lamps stretched out, and the shadows around him grew longer. Confident that no one would disturb him, he took a deep breath and focused his mind on his new ability.
He could feel the shadows. They weren¡¯t just darkness; they felt alive, like shape-shifting beings. He raised his hand and tightened his grip slightly. The shadows trembled, and as if receiving an order, they began to intensify. Suddenly, a dark shape emerged from the ground and began to rise, taking on a three-dimensional form.
¡°Rise, my soldiers!¡± Kieran commanded.
Two skeletal warriors emerged from the shadows. Clad in black armor, their eyes glowed with a faint purple light as they knelt before Kieran, awaiting his command.
A slight smile appeared on Kieran¡¯s face. This was just the beginning of his power.
¡°Interesting¡¡± he muttered.
The shadows were no longer just a tool; they would become the foundation of his army. As Kieran examined his soldiers, he felt a moment of excitement. Their existence made him feel like he wasn¡¯t alone. He was armed with a dark power, and he now had the chance to shape his own destiny.
Intensifying the shadows around him, he decided to try summoning a third soldier. ¡°Rise!¡± he commanded with determination. However, his power was still incomplete. For just a moment, the crackling shadows took form, but the third skeleton began to dissolve before it could fully form.
¡°It¡¯s still just the beginning,¡± Kieran whispered to himself, making a promise. He would develop his skills and increase his power. He would put more effort into discovering the potential the Shadow God had spoken of.

¡°It¡¯s still just the beginning,¡± Kieran whispered, determined after his failure. He would improve, and he would grow stronger. He would work harder to uncover the potential the Shadow God had spoken of.
Hastily, he made his way to the dungeon to meet his teammates. As he walked, he could feel the shadows around him, trying to move with him. With each step, as they descended further into the dungeon¡¯s dark depths, his confidence grew. Feeling the energy within him made him feel stronger. This time, he wasn¡¯t just a regular hunter; he was the heir of the Shadow God, determined to uncover the dark secrets of the dungeon.
When they reached the dungeon¡¯s depths, they stood before the door to the boss room. Kieran, though feeling the tension within him, was also filled with excitement. His teammates looked just as tense.
When the door opened, they stepped into the room, and instantly, a heavy darkness fell upon them. Kieran saw the Shadow God standing tall in the center of the room, his eyes locked on Kieran as he approached.
Suddenly, the Shadow God touched Kieran¡¯s forehead with his finger. At that moment, darkness descended, and memories began to echo in Kieran¡¯s mind. He could feel the gods¡¯ contempt for the Shadow God, their hatred and fear. All the gods looked down on the Shadow God, mocked his power, and ridiculed him. But despite this, the Shadow God was gathering allies in response to this humiliation.
As these memories flooded his mind, Kieran screamed in agony. The shadows around him rapidly gathered and danced around him. His teammates, struck with fear, sank to their knees as the dark power in Kieran¡¯s eyes flared.
The Shadow God whispered one final thing to Kieran: ¡°Now you have learned the first and the true thing about me, my heir.¡± And with that, the Shadow God vanished into the depths of darkness.
When Kieran opened his eyes, he felt momentarily lost. The shadows around him were now under his control. Without hesitation, he decided to test his new ability. ¡°Rise, my soldiers!¡± he shouted, and this time, a new soldier emerged from the intensifying shadows. Now, he had three skeletal warriors by his side.
As his teammates watched in astonishment and fear, Kieran had developed the ability to control all the shadows.
At the dungeon¡¯s exit, Kieran and his team, having experienced the power of the Shadow God, were now filled with even more confidence. They made their way out of the dungeon, and as they slowly exited, Kieran felt not only the strength inside him but also a new sense of security.
Finally, they emerged from the dungeon unharmed. Kieran¡¯s teammates, still shocked and fearful, looked at him and asked, ¡°How did you do that?¡± Kieran smiled and replied, ¡°From now on, I know I¡¯m not alone.¡±
Chapter 10: Dominion of Darkness
As Kieran stepped into the dungeon, the stench of decay grew stronger the deeper he went. Jagged stalactites hung from the ceiling, and old bloodstains on the walls served as grim reminders of the dangers lurking within. His fingers grazed the hilts of his daggers, muscles tense with anticipation.
Suddenly, a shadowy figure emerged from the darkness. Though it wasn¡¯t as tall as Kieran, its long, slender arms moved in an unsettling, twisted manner. Its eyes glowed a menacing blood-red, staring at him like a predator eyeing its prey. This was no ordinary monster¡ªit was intelligent.
Kieran instinctively stepped back, but the creature merely smirked at him with an eerie confidence. In an instant, it lunged forward like a shadow-born lightning bolt. Kieran barely dodged, but the creature¡¯s speed exceeded his expectations. This was the first time he had faced such a cunning opponent.
¡°Shadow Step!¡±
In a blink, he reappeared behind the creature, his daggers slashing toward its neck. But as if anticipating the move, the monster twisted its body, evading the strike, and delivered a brutal kick to Kieran¡¯s chest. He crashed into the stone wall, the impact knocking the breath out of him as pain flared through his ribs. Gritting his teeth, he pushed himself up.
¡°So, you¡¯ve got brains too, huh?¡± Kieran spat on the ground, narrowing his eyes as he analyzed the creature. Unlike the mindless beasts he had encountered before, this one fought strategically.
The shadows around him pulsed. He clenched his fists, commanding the darkness.
¡°Rise, my soldiers!¡±
Three shadow soldiers emerged from the void, their armor glowing faintly with a dim violet hue.
¡°Attack!¡±
The soldiers encircled the creature, but it crouched low, waiting for the perfect moment. Then, with a sudden burst of dark energy, it obliterated one of the soldiers, scattering its essence back into the shadows. Kieran quickly signaled the remaining two to retreat.
The creature¡¯s crimson eyes gleamed with hunger as it lunged again. Kieran barely raised his daggers in time, but its claws raked across his shoulder, carving a deep wound. Warm blood soaked into his clothes, but he clenched his jaw, ignoring the pain.
¡°Damn it¡¡±
He realized he couldn¡¯t match its speed. There was only one way to stop it.
¡°Shadow Chains!¡±
Black chains erupted from the ground, coiling around the creature¡¯s legs and locking it in place. It thrashed violently, its eyes blazing with fury, but Kieran knew this was his chance.
¡°This ends now!¡± he growled, surging forward with his shadow soldiers.
His daggers struck like lightning, slicing through the creature¡¯s tough hide, leaving deep, gaping wounds. The shadow soldiers followed suit, driving their weapons into the creature¡¯s body, sapping away its life.
As the monster let out an agonized scream, its crimson eyes met Kieran¡¯s one last time. In them, he saw something familiar¡ªpure, unfiltered terror. It was the same fear he had once felt. But this time, he was the one inspiring it.
With a final, shuddering breath, the creature¡¯s body dissolved into the darkness, leaving behind an eerie silence.
Kieran exhaled heavily, his entire body trembling. But a smirk tugged at his lips as he spat on the ground.
¡°The shadows are on my side.¡±
At that moment, the system¡¯s voice echoed in his mind:
[CONGRATULATIONS! You have won your first true battle!]
[Your skill ''Shadow Soldiers'' has evolved! They are now stronger!]
As Kieran thought the battle was over, things started to go awry. The air inside the dungeon grew heavy, the temperature dropped rapidly, and the shadows began to tremble. An unprecedented pressure enveloped him. The shadows... it felt as if they were watching him.
In that moment, the system¡¯s voice echoed:
[Warning! The true master of the dungeon is awakening.]
Kieran''s eyes widened. What? He had only killed one creature; why was the dungeon reacting?
Then the ground shook. The shadows intertwined, moving like a living organism. The bloody stains on the walls faded, giving way to deep, dark cracks. The ground in front of Kieran collapsed, and from it rose a pitch-black figure. The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
It stood over three meters tall, shrouded in a constantly shifting veil of shadows. It had no face¡ªjust a deep, empty darkness where its features should have been.
And at that moment, a voice echoed in Kieran''s mind:
¡°You are strong, but you are not yet where you belong. The shadow is not merely a tool; it is a being. You must understand this, or the shadow will consume you.¡±
It was the voice of the Shadow God. But why now?
At that moment, the figure took a step forward, and the entire room darkened further. Kieran''s shadow soldiers trembled and retreated. For the first time... they seemed to question his commands.
¡°What in the world is this?¡± Kieran murmured, tightening his grip on his daggers.
The dungeon was beginning to reveal its true face. The creature looked at him with glowing eyes amidst the shadows. Kieran sensed that this being was not just a monster; its intelligence and determination set it apart from the others.
The creature spoke: ¡°I did not expect a hunter like you. Why are you wandering alone in this darkness?¡±
Kieran, initially expecting an attack, appreciated the calmness and curiosity in the creature''s voice. ¡°My name is Kieran Voss. I am here to test my powers as the heir of the Shadow God,¡± he said. Gathering his courage, he added, ¡°But I seek more. I want to discover not only my strength but also the truth.¡±
The creature regarded Kieran carefully. ¡°Being the heir of the Shadow God is both a blessing and a curse. I can make a deal with you. If you do not fight me, I can reveal the secrets of the dungeon to you. But these secrets may not always be enlightening.¡±
Kieran did not want to miss this opportunity. ¡°What kind of secrets?¡± he asked. The creature smiled as it replied, ¡°Deep within the dungeon lie the powers of ancient gods and lost wisdom. However, to learn these secrets, you must make the right choices. Come with me, and discover this wisdom.¡±
Kieran contemplated the creature''s offer. Going with it was both risky and exciting. He didn¡¯t know if the creature was trustworthy, but this opportunity could be a chance he couldn''t pass up.
¡°Agreed,¡± Kieran said. ¡°Lead me to your secrets.¡±
The creature guided Kieran down a deep corridor. As they descended into the depths of the dungeon, Kieran''s mind was filled with hundreds of questions. The creature shared tales from the past and insights about the true intentions of the Shadow God. Kieran wondered how this knowledge would shape him; each piece of information could grant him new powers or lead him down a path filled with dangers.
In the dark corners of the dungeon, this mysterious negotiation between Kieran and the creature would become one of the turning points in his life. As Kieran progressed deeper into the dungeon with the creature, the surrounding darkness intensified. The creature halted Kieran and slowly brought him to a door. ¡°Here, you will see the memories of the Shadow God. Everything, both good and bad, will serve as a lesson for you.¡±
When they opened the door, Kieran found himself in a dimly lit room. In the center of the room, a glowing portal appeared. The creature asked, ¡°This portal will show you his past. However, this experience may affect you deeply. Are you ready?¡±
Kieran nodded firmly. ¡°Yes, I am ready.¡±
From the portal, a white light spread. Kieran closed his eyes and stepped into the light. He found himself in the past of the Shadow God. At first, he witnessed the times when the Shadow God was human. Memories filled with family love, friendship, and heroism captivated Kieran. He saw how the Shadow God fought to protect the world and his efforts to safeguard humanity.
With these good memories, Kieran felt himself being lifted into the air. A white shadow gently raised him up. ¡°See, my heir! Learn of the Shadow God¡¯s good sides and his memories of humanity!¡± whispered the shadow.
However, after these peaceful moments, Kieran entered a dark passage. Painful memories from the Shadow God¡¯s past began to manifest in Kieran¡¯s mind. Images of lost friends, betrayals, and moments of loneliness flashed before his eyes. Kieran was being forced to confront the dark side of the Shadow God.
Suddenly, a large and fearsome shadow grabbed Kieran from the air. With a dark power, it began to pull him down. Kieran wanted to escape these horrifying memories, but the shadows wrapped around him and began to shake him. Painful memories echoed in his mind; each one opened a wound in his heart. He began to scream, ¡°No! I don¡¯t want this!¡±
The dark shadow deepened, surrounding Kieran and squeezing him in a suffocating grip. The weight of his bad memories was burning his soul. Kieran knelt down, took a deep breath, and slowly stood up. The power within him awakened, granting him a new ability. Along with the shadows of his dark memories, a new light that emerged in Kieran''s mind gave him a sense of freedom and strength.
¡°Shadow Wave!¡± Kieran shouted. This time, the ability could affect not only nearby enemies but also long-range targets. The shadows concentrated around him, filling the entire area with darkness.
Kieran raised his hands to the sky and gathered the energy in his mind. At that moment, the shadows began to rise in waves around him. As he prepared for the enemies before him, he said, ¡°Rise, shadows!¡±
Moments later, Kieran released the dark wave that appeared in front of him. The waves rapidly spread toward the dark corners of the dungeon, enveloping everything and surrounding his enemies. The Shadow Wave struck the enemies, incapacitating them while simultaneously creating a vast area of darkness around him. The enemies found themselves unable to move due to the density and darkness of the shadows.
Kieran also remembered to summon his shadow soldiers. The number of shadow soldiers had now increased to five. ¡°Rise, my shadow soldiers!¡± he commanded, and five dark figures emerged from the shadows. Each one stood beside Kieran in black armor, waiting for orders.
¡°Now, fight alongside me!¡± Kieran said courageously. As the shadow soldiers circled around Kieran, the dark area continued to expand toward the enemies. Kieran felt the power of his new ability; both he and the shadow soldiers were now stronger.
The dark wave surrounding the enemies had not only granted Kieran physical power but also allowed him to manage the shadows more effectively. He now had complete control over his enemies.
As Kieran progressed deeper into the dungeon with his shadow soldiers, he felt ready to face all the dark forces ahead. He had learned the Shadow God¡¯s past, filled with both good and bad memories; now, he was prepared to use this power for his own benefit.
Chapter 11: SSS Dungeon Crisis
The sky darkened. An alarm echoed throughout the city, shaking everyone and drawing all attention to a single point: A newly emerged dungeon had suddenly risen to SSS rank!
SSS-rank dungeons had only appeared a handful of times in history, and each time, they brought catastrophic destruction. The government, the Hunter Association, and the Four Great Guilds immediately mobilized. Reporters, news agencies, hunters, and curious onlookers rushed to the scene.
The sight before them was terrifying. The pure darkness emanating from within the dungeon and the overwhelming pressure made even experienced hunters tremble.
"This... this could be the harbinger of disaster!" shouted one of the reporters.
"No one can survive in there! There are SSS-rank monsters inside!"
But just as those words echoed through the air, someone stepped out of the dungeon.
Silence...
Kieran Voss'' silhouette became distinct, surrounded by purple shadows. The edges of his black coat rippled with each step, and the pressure radiating from his body stole the breath of everyone around him.
The dark energy within him spread unconsciously, making those nearby tremble and forcing their knees to weaken.
His eyes were not empty¡ªthey held depth, dominance, and an abyss of endless darkness. He was beyond a mere hunter.
The reporters sprang into action immediately.
"Mr. Kieran! What happened inside the dungeon?!"
"How did you survive?!"
"Did you escape an SSS-rank dungeon alone?!"
Microphones, cameras, flashes... Everyone was chasing after him. But Kieran did not stop for even a moment. He said nothing. He simply continued walking, radiating a terrifying silence that gripped the hearts of all around him.
Then, suddenly, the crowd parted.
Four figures emerged, their overwhelming auras so powerful that even the seasoned hunters fell into silence.
The Four Great Guild Leaders.
Darius Alden ¨C Leader of Blood Claw Guild
Elara Nightshade ¨C Leader of Nightshade Guild
Vladimir Cross ¨C Leader of Endless Blade Guild
Renji Takeda ¨C Leader of Dragon Wing Guild
A woman stepped forward from the crowd¡ªElara Nightshade. Her cold, cutting voice silenced every reporter in an instant.
"We need to talk to him."
The other guild leaders also stepped forward.
Darius Alden crossed his arms and spoke in a firm tone. "We are expecting you at the Hunter Association, Kieran Voss. You must come today."
Renji Takeda looked directly at Kieran, his gaze sharp and unwavering. "This is a friendly invitation. But you do understand the seriousness of the situation, don''t you?"
Kieran paused in front of the leaders.
All eyes were on him.
The reporters, hunters, the public¡ Everyone was waiting for his next move.
And then¡ªKieran smiled.
"The shadows are with me¡ So why should I be afraid?"
With just one step, the shadows devoured him.
People gasped, reporters desperately tried to capture his disappearance, but¡ªhe was no longer there.
Within the darkness, he moved toward the Hunter Association.
And this¡ was only the beginning.
As Kieran continued his journey through the darkness, the energy of the shadows flowed with him. With every step he took, the surrounding darkness deepened, as if everything was becoming even more connected to him. The threat of the dungeon instilled fear in both him and those around him, but for Kieran, it was a new source of power.
When he entered the Hunter Association''s headquarters, all eyes were on him. Unlike before, he was no longer just silent out of fear¡ªnow, he was filled with confidence. The atmosphere inside was a mixture of excitement and anxiety. Everyone was eager to hear the story of Kieran, the man who survived an SSS-rank dungeon.
Darius Alden called Kieran over and spoke with a serious tone: "Kieran, what did you see inside? The emergence of an SSS-rank dungeon is a major threat. We could be facing a catastrophe at any moment."
Kieran noticed the deep concern in Darius'' eyes. "There weren¡¯t just monsters inside," Kieran replied. "There was also a dark force. But I have the potential to control that power."
Elara Nightshade approached Kieran, carefully observing his determination. "The presence of the Shadow God could be a threat to all of us. If you fail to control this power, not only you but everyone around you will be in grave danger."
Kieran took Elara''s warning seriously. "I understand that. But if I can stand against SSS-rank monsters, this power will guide me. And I have my shadow soldiers to fight alongside me."
Vladimir Cross gave Kieran a mocking smirk. "Shadow soldiers? Then prove it. But remember, this will only be a test."
Kieran remained unfazed by Vladimir¡¯s challenge. "The Shadow Soldiers are just the beginning. But I¡¯m here to test them. I will defeat every enemy that stands against us."
Renji Takeda stepped forward, his voice serious. "It''s not just about trusting yourself. You need to earn the trust of other hunters as well. Surviving an SSS-rank dungeon requires not only skill but also leadership."
Kieran looked at each of the guild leaders before replying with unwavering determination: "I will fight not just with my strength, but with my mind as well. If we are to stop this dungeon crisis, we must act together."
Darius approached Kieran, preparing to assign him a mission. "Then you must return to the dungeon with a group of hunters. Be careful when you go inside. It¡¯s filled with monsters and traps. If there are SSS-rank entities lurking in that dungeon, you must find them."This tale has been unlawfully lifted without the author''s consent. Report any appearances on Amazon.
Kieran fell into deep thought, considering the hunters he would choose for his team.
Who was ready to fight alongside him? Which hunters would accept his leadership?
Before returning to the depths of the dungeon, Kieran decided to gather a team of the most reliable and courageous hunters. Among the crowd at the Hunter Association''s headquarters, a few hunters caught his attention¡ªthose who truly wanted to stand by his side.
Before selecting his team, Kieran took a deep breath and prepared himself.
"Those who will come with me!" he called out, his determination evident in every word. "We are going into an SSS-rank dungeon. A place filled with monsters and traps. I don¡¯t need just strong fighters¡ªI need those who are also smart. If you are afraid, you are free to turn back."
A few brave hunters stepped forward from the crowd. Among them, Kieran spotted Arin, one of the best C-rank hunters. Arin looked at Kieran with unwavering determination. "I want to go with you, Kieran. Together, we can conquer this dungeon."
Another hunter, Ela, joined Kieran. A skilled mage, Ela had recognized Kieran¡¯s potential. "I can support you. I¡¯ll use my magic to strengthen your shadow soldiers."
Kieran could feel the excitement building inside him. He had formed his team: Arin, Ela, and a few other courageous hunters. As he turned to face them, a confident smile appeared on his face. "Together, we will be strong. Together, we will uncover the true power of the shadows."
They quickly made their way to the dungeon. As the dungeon gate creaked open, a wave of dark energy greeted them. Kieran took a deep breath, preparing to summon his shadow soldiers.
"Rise, my soldiers!" he commanded. Instantly, two skeleton warriors emerged beside him. Kieran could feel their unwavering loyalty through the shadows.
As they stepped inside, they sensed the lurking presence of creatures deep within the dark corridors. Kieran took charge, guiding Arin and Ela. "Stay alert! Let¡¯s wait for the monsters to move first. They are greedy and dangerous."
Suddenly, from the dark corners, a horde of monsters emerged. Leading them was a gigantic shadow beast, its sharp fangs glistening as it let out a terrifying roar.
Kieran acted immediately. "Attack!" he commanded.
His skeleton warriors charged at the beast without hesitation. Arin gripped his sword tightly, preparing to strike, while Ela chanted her spell.
"Fireball!" she shouted, launching a blazing orb of fire at the beast. Flames engulfed the creature, and its piercing shriek echoed through the depths of the dungeon.
Kieran felt the flow of shadows shifting. The monster was weakening.
"Now!" he shouted. "Charge!"
The group managed to subdue the monster with their combined efforts. However, this was only the beginning. Greater dangers awaited in the depths of the dungeon.
Kieran continued forward. With every step, he delved deeper into the darkness. But this time, he had made peace with it. The shadows were by his side, supporting him. The hunters around him felt braver and more determined under Kieran¡¯s leadership.
After a while, when another dungeon gate opened, a powerful voice echoed through the air.
"Who are you? What are you doing here?"
Kieran responded fearlessly.
"We came to conquer this dungeon! And we are ready to fight you!"
The voice chuckled and replied,
"Then, I have been expecting you. But remember, this is only the beginning. The real battle starts now."
Kieran was ready for a new challenge. The entire team found courage in his presence. They knew the fight ahead would be difficult, but with Kieran¡¯s shadows, they were determined to overcome this dungeon together.
As Kieran and his team stepped into a dark chamber, they were met with a vast, empty space. The dungeon was eerily silent, yet tension filled the air. Kieran began to feel the power of the shadows surrounding him. Closing his eyes, he reached deep into the darkness for strength.
"Rise, my shadow soldiers!" Kieran commanded with unwavering determination.
Five shadow soldiers emerged around him, kneeling in formation, ready for his orders. Their black armor gleamed ominously, and their eyes glowed with a faint purple light. Kieran felt even stronger with their presence.
At the same time, he decided to summon another force within him.
"Shadow Wave!" he shouted.
Extending his hands forward, the surrounding shadows condensed into a powerful wave. The darkness thickened, surging toward the creatures lurking in the depths.
From the far corners of the room, several monsters emerged. The long-range shadow wave instantly lashed out at them. As the wave engulfed its targets, Kieran¡¯s shadow soldiers moved in, launching their assault.
His teammates watched in awe as the battle unfolded at an impossible speed. Kieran, noticing the synchronized movements of his shadow soldiers, grew even more confident in his power.
"Move as one!" he commanded.
The shadow soldiers obeyed instantly, striking down their enemies. The creatures struggled against the darkness, but Kieran¡¯s waves spread through the room, eliminating them one by one.
Arin and Ela fell to their knees in shock, their faces filled with disbelief.
"This¡ this is impossible!" Arin gasped, his eyes wide with astonishment.
"Kieran, we had no idea you were this strong!"
As Kieran waged an unrelenting war against the creatures, he could feel the fearful gazes of his comrades. But to Kieran, this was an opportunity to prove himself.
"I was only just beginning!" he declared. "You have yet to witness my true strength!"
The battle moved at such an intense pace that Arin and Ela could only watch, barely keeping up with their eyes. Kieran fought with relentless precision, coordinating his shadow soldiers flawlessly. Each wave and strike echoed through the chamber, drowning it in darkness.
At one point, an enemy¡¯s final desperate attack was about to reach Kieran, but his shadow soldiers swiftly intervened, shielding him.
"Do not be afraid!" Kieran shouted, his voice brimming with conviction. "I am here!"
Soon, the entire room was engulfed in shadows. Under Kieran¡¯s command, the group was no longer just hunters; they were becoming something far greater¡ªlords of the darkness itself. As the last of the monsters fell, Kieran felt his power resonate deeper within him.
His teammates, still in awe, slowly stood up. As the battle came to an end, only the sound of Kieran¡¯s steady breaths filled the silence.
"This was only the beginning," Kieran said, sensing the shadows swirling around him. "You must be ready for more!"
Arin and Ela stepped forward, determination shining in their eyes.
"You can conquer this darkness with us," Ela said firmly. "We¡¯re with you now!"
Kieran smirked, feeling the power of darkness flowing through him.
"Then, more enemies await us. Let¡¯s move forward!"
Taking a deep breath, Kieran and his team entered the boss chamber. The air inside was thick and oppressive, as if even the darkness itself had a will of its own, watching them. Suddenly, a massive entity began rising from the ground.
Abyss Leviathan!
A colossal, serpentine creature formed entirely of darkness, its glowing eyes piercing through the gloom. Its body shifted and rippled, absorbing the surrounding shadows, growing larger with each passing second.
With a deafening roar, it unleashed "Void Scream," shaking the entire room and momentarily stunning the team.
But Kieran did not falter. The shadows were his to command. Raising his hand, he bellowed,
"Rise, my soldiers!"
Five shadow warriors emerged from the ground, clad in black armor, their glowing purple eyes locked onto their new foe, awaiting orders.
"Shadow Wave!"
Kieran swung his hand forward, and a wave of pure shadow energy crashed into the Abyss Leviathan. The beast let out an enraged roar and drowned the entire area in darkness with its "Abyssal Summon." But this was Kieran''s domain.
His teammates gripped their swords and weapons tightly, but they had no choice but to watch this battle unfold beyond their limits.
"This... this speed is unbelievable!"
"I can''t even follow his movements!"
Kieran and his shadow soldiers clashed with the boss at an incredible pace. The creature attempted to heal itself by absorbing the surrounding shadows with "Darkness Consumption," but Kieran wouldn''t allow it.
"This ends here!"
Kieran activated a new skill called "Shadow Execution." The shadows burst from his body and swarmed over the Abyss Leviathan, completely consuming it. The room echoed with the creature''s final, dying scream before falling into total silence.
The dungeon was cleared.
His teammates collapsed to their knees in sheer shock. The battle they had just witnessed was far beyond their comprehension. Kieran straightened his back, the shadows flowing around him, a reflection of his newly awakened power.
As they stepped out of the dungeon, the entire city was waiting for Kieran¡¯s emergence. Reporters, guilds, the Hunter Association, the people... they all knew he had just single-handedly defeated an SSS-rank boss.
Kieran stepped forward, as if he had been born from the darkness itself, and the entire crowd held its breath.
This was only the beginning...
Chapter 12: The Face of Darkness
The crowd was holding its breath, waiting for Kieran to emerge as the heir of the Shadow God. Kieran straightened his back and felt the tension in the air filled with shadows. The battle he had just experienced was an unforgettable memory.
As the shadows swirled around him, they reflected his new power. Kieran noticed the divided gazes of the crowd: one group admired his courage and strength, while the other watched him with fear. Whispers began to rise among the onlookers.
¡°The heir of the Shadow God could bring the end of everything,¡± one voice proclaimed. Another added, ¡°He was only an F-rank hunter! How can he be this powerful?¡±
Kieran braced himself as he felt the pressure of these gazes upon him. Everyone was waiting to see what he would do next. He quickly gathered his thoughts and spoke up: ¡°I am here with the power of darkness. But this power will not only be a weapon against my enemies; it will also serve as a shield for my people.¡±
These words sent a wave of excitement through the crowd. However, they also caught the attention of some of the guild leaders. Representatives from the major guilds began to approach Kieran aggressively.
¡°We must have a talent like you within our ranks,¡± said one guild leader, his eyes gleaming. ¡°You can protect us. You can change the balance of power in this city.¡±
Kieran sensed the ulterior motives behind this offer. ¡°You seek to use me for your own purposes. But know that I will forge my own path,¡± he declared, intensifying the shadows around him. Suddenly, the shadows began to move, creating a slight threat. The crowd stepped back in surprise. The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.
The people were torn between fear and admiration for Kieran¡¯s displayed power. Some viewed him as a hero, while others perceived him as a threat. Amidst these mixed emotions, Kieran found himself deep in thought about how to navigate this situation when suddenly the darkness within him conveyed a message.
In an instant, the Shadow God appeared in his mind. ¡°There is much we need to discuss, my heir,¡± he said with a deep, resonant voice. ¡°You must find a way to understand yourself and wield your power correctly. This city will change with your presence, but remember, this is only the beginning.¡±
As Kieran listened to the Shadow God¡¯s words, he felt the shadows around him becoming even more intense. ¡°I will grant you the ability to control your own shadows. But this ability will test you. Do not get lost in the darkness; learn to embrace it,¡± the Shadow God instructed.
At that moment, a brave young man stepped forward from the crowd. ¡°You are our hope! We are not afraid!¡± he declared, his voice trembling but resolute. Seeing this courage ignited something in Kieran; he realized how darkness could take on another form.
Kieran turned to the young man. ¡°Darkness is not just a fear; it is also a power. If we confront the darkness, we can discover our true strength,¡± he replied. These words inspired courage among the crowd.
Kieran faced the crowd one last time. ¡°Shadow Soldiers, come with me!¡± he shouted. The shadows around him thickened, and two skeletal warriors emerged. They were clad in black armor, their eyes glowing with a pale purple light. The crowd gasped at this sight.
What would the Shadow God¡¯s next move be? Kieran pondered. If he could control this power, he could change his future completely. But everything came with a price.
As the crowd bore witness to Kieran''s determination and desire to integrate with the darkness, their doubts about who he was and what he would become grew stronger. Kieran decided to rebuild his self-confidence. ¡°This is only the beginning,¡± he thought. ¡°I will fully embrace the power of darkness.¡±
With this, Kieran stepped into a journey that would affect both himself and all the people in the city.
