《A Villain's POV》 Raze? Nathan? What the hell is happening His eyes flickered open. The dim light from a lamp was the first thing he saw, but his sight was blurry. He blinked a couple of times to clear it. Finally, he could make out the figure of the lamp after a few blinks. The lamp stood at the edge of the table. It had a metallic base and a metallic cylindrical top, but unlike other lamps he had known, this one had a warm glowing crystal inside it. "Huh? A crystal lamp? I''ve seen this exact lamp," he said and tried to get up, but was hit with a splitting headache. "Arghhhh!" He cried out in pain, moving his hands to rub his temple slowly, his eyes going back to the lamp. "I''ve seen this. I know I have, but where?" he asked, struggling to remember. He looked over the rest of the table. It was a small table with a stack of thick-covered books on one side. A piece of paper lay on the table, completely stained with blood. As his eyes met the paper, he flinched back in shock. "What the hell?" he said. He moved forward carefully and picked up the paper. There was something imprinted at the top; half of it was covered in blood, but he could make out the first four letters. -Blac.- When he saw those letters, a memory popped into his mind: the lamp, this table, this stack of books. He quickly picked up one of the books and read what was imprinted on the cover. There was an insignia on it¡ªa wand and a sword crossed over a shield depicting a vermillion bird. And under it was written in bold letters: BLACK PHOENIX ACADEMY. "What the hell?" he yelled out. "This... this academy was from the novel I read before bed," he said. He let go of the book and stood up. The chair behind him toppled to the ground. "Is this a prank?" he asked himself, but then he recalled that he lived a lonely life, with barely any close friends or people to talk to. He picked up the lamp from the table and tried to take a look around the room. He tripped on the chair that had fallen in his rush, but he quickly got back up and picked up the lamp. He looked around under the dim light, struggling to see the full outline of the room. He could tell immediately¡ªit was the outline of a standard bedroom in the academy. "What is happening? This can''t be a dream; I felt pain when I fell," he said. He drew a deep breath and tried to calm himself down. "Could it be? Did I enter the novel? Is that possible? It looks to be so," he said, thinking about how crazy it was that he could possibly be in the novel. Knock Knock. He paused. He didn¡¯t even know who he was yet; how was he supposed to respond to whoever that was? He decided to keep quiet and let them think he was asleep. Knock Knock. He still didn¡¯t respond. He watched the door like a hawk and said nothing. "I¡¯m pretty sure you aren¡¯t asleep yet, Raze," a male voice came from behind the door. "I just want to inform you that a full investigation is going to be launched. Annabel almost died because of you, and if it¡¯s found to be true, you¡¯ll be expelled from the academy, and you¡¯ll lose everything. Your scholarship, your privileges, your pride. Your jealousy has brought you to your end." The person finished speaking and started walking away. He could hear the footsteps as they got farther and farther away. "Raze... he called me Raze. I remember that character." Inside a small room, holding only a single one-person bed, a small table, and a laptop on it, a young man in a black T-shirt and ripped jeans sat at the table, engrossed in what he was reading. His name was Nathan, a jobless college dropout who, rather than find a job, decided to read novels and play games. Nathan leaned back on his chair and stared at the ceiling. "This Raze character reminds me of myself. Dropped out of school because of an issue that happened by accident. But he didn¡¯t have to try and kill the girl in such a crude way to cover his tracks. If he hadn¡¯t, that simp of an MC wouldn¡¯t have killed him. This content has been misappropriated from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere. But the writer just had to make him a disposable villain that the MC used to show how good he is. Bullshit, if you ask me, to be honest," Nathan said. He slowly closed his eyes, drifting into sleep with the thought of how Raze was treated unfairly when you looked deeper into it. This had been his third time reading this book, and every time, it felt new to him. His understanding of Raze was always the same. His eyes shut completely, and he fell asleep, never to wake in that world again. "Raze... he called me Raze. I remember that character," he said. "Wait, I am Raze? The small villain that gets killed the day he tries to assassinate the girl that could get him expelled? Shit, what a way to enter a new world," he said, but then a thought came to him. "Raze was wronged in the story. That was what made him into a villain. He was the top student until the protagonist came and started getting favored. All that Raze fought for and built by himself was taken away by the protagonist, and in anger, he started to do some things that were questionable. I never liked the decisions that Raze took. They were rash and rough. He never had the makings of a long-term villain. But that changes now. I¡¯m Raze now. I can actually be a better villain than him¡ªnot one that gets expelled tomorrow and has nothing, or the one that gets killed, but the one that actually thrives and wins this." Raze looked at his bed. He walked there and sat down; he needed to think about his current situation, as it was not something he should rush into. "I have to understand, how did I come here in the first place?" He paused and thought about what he did before he was thrown into this reality. He had just re-read the novel, stopping after Raze''s death. He wanted to sleep for the night, and that was the last thing he recalled. "Did I die? My health has been trash, to be honest. All the junk food and excessive caffeine killed me then." He took a deep breath, cleared his mind, and started recalling the details of this story. Raze was a top student, a nobody that rose through the ranks with his intelligence and hard work. He was able to get a scholarship into this prestigious academy, a feat that was applauded wherever he went. He was a beacon to the normal man that they could achieve greatness. But all of a sudden, that changed when the chosen one, the blessed one of the gods, the hero, the protagonist, came into the picture. He didn''t have to struggle for anything at all. Everything simply went his way. He thrived easily and reached the top, taking Raze''s position in everything. No matter how Raze fought for his position, he could never retake it, and that led him to fall into jealousy¡ªa jealousy so deep that he started making rash decisions. The latest one was setting a magical trap for the protagonist that a girl called Annabelle fell into and was saved by the protagonist. She was severely injured and was sent into treatment. She didn''t just fall into the trap by accident; she was the only person that saw Raze set it up, but she didn''t know how to defuse it, and she couldn''t call anyone in time. So she took the fall for the protagonist, and she nearly died. If she finally wakes up, she''ll be the one to reveal that Raze did it, and his life here would be over. "Raze, Raze, Raze, you messed up badly. That''s not how you handle an issue of this measure. Now we have to get out of this situation. We might have to kill the girl or find a way to silence her. No way am I getting expelled so soon. I have to become a better villain, after all," Raze said. He didn''t understand why he had this drive to be a villain, though. Sure, he loved villains that planned well, but just wanting to be one was not something a normal human would do. But for some reason, he couldn''t care less. He was happy with his current state of mind. As he thought about killing the girl, he recalled something, and that was the fact that Raze died. Raze did not die in the original story like this. According to the story, Raze was at his table, thinking about how he would deal with the situation at hand. He couldn''t even focus on the homework he had because of it. Then later, the person that came to his door did come and told him about the investigation, and that caused Raze to panic. And then Raze rushed out to end the girl, and that was where everything went bad. "Why did I die now? I wasn''t meant to die so early," Raze thought, trying to find what happened to make him die at his desk, but he couldn''t recall anything. It was like the real memories of Raze were blocked out, and all that he had was from what he read in the story. "I can''t even recall what I ate before coming to the room. What is going on? I don''t have any memories at all," Raze said. He picked up the piece of paper stained with blood. He didn''t know what to do right now. How does he find the reason that he died? He didn''t have any ability to do that. From what he knew in the book, Raze''s magical ability was spatial control, a rare talent, but there was nothing it could help him do, since at this point, Raze only knew a few spells as a first year. Raze focused on the piece of paper, like he was trying to figure something out, and then suddenly a bright light shined in front of his eyes, and a holographic screen followed. "What the hell?" Raze said in shock and fell backward, almost bumping his head into the bed frame. He looked at the screen in fear. This was not part of the story. Nah, this had never happened in the story. Like every stupid, curious human being, he slowly stretched out his hand to touch the screen, but his hand went right through it, like it wasn''t there, but he could still see it. [You have a message] A notification suddenly came up on the screen. Raze looked at it, not knowing what to do. He couldn''t touch it, so how was he to read it? Immediately he thought about reading it, the notification opened, and the contents showed to Raze. [Everything that is, was meant to be. You didn''t die. You were killed. Changes occur different to what you know. Kill or be killed.] "What''s all this? Is this the message?" The message was clear, yet it was filled with sentences that didn''t connect. Even with that, something from it stuck to him: you didn''t die, you were killed. Could it be that he was murdered? But that didn''t happen in the main story. "Maybe that''s what it meant by changes occur different to what you know. The story might be changing a little, and rather than Raze dying at the hands of the MC, he was killed by someone. But who?" Raze asked himself. "Does this system do anything more? Can I use it to somehow find out who killed me?" Raze asked, and the system responded to his thoughts. The screen changed and showed his stats. Spacial zone Name: Raze Race: Human Magical Affinities: Space Mana: 1000 EXP: 0/100 SP: 0 Level: 1 Strength: 10 Dexterity: 9 Speed: 11 Constitution: 11 Intelligence: 15 [Leveling up can happen by completing set tasks from the system, and gaining experience points. The higher your level, the more stats you generally have. Each stat has its own use in your body; they are a collection of everything that you need to grow. Strength is the amount of power you can generate, and the amount of damage you can cause. Dexterity is your agility, accuracy, and control. Speed is your acceleration, velocity, perception speed, attack speed, and all other speed-related attributes. Constitution is how good your body is, how much damage it can take, and how well your body works. Intelligence is tied to your brain and your magical ability, it controls how good of a problem solver you are, and also how you use magic.] The system gave him a quick rundown of what his stats were, and though he didn''t have a deeper understanding of them, he could get by for now. He didn''t know how to get experience points and other things, but he should take one thing at a time. If he rushed things, his brain could explode from the info load. After all, it was only today that he suddenly woke up in a different world. [You have received a starter package from #######. Would you like to check it out?] "Yes," he answered quickly, as though the offer would run away if he didn''t. He also took a look at the name section of the message. It seemed like someone sent this to him, but the system didn''t let him know who it was. This made Raze worry; someone knew he was here and also knew about the system. Finally, it made some sense. The message he received first seemed to be a warning from someone. He didn''t think much into it at first, but now, it made him worry. Was someone controlling him? Was he just some puppet in a game that he didn''t ask for? Was this person some sort of godlike being to be able to do things like this? And the bigger question: did this person cause his death on Earth and bring him here? So many questions filled Raze''s head, and he wanted an answer, but where could he find one? The only place he could turn to was the system, and it seemed that even the system was hiding the details of this person from him. He also didn''t know anyone. In this world, he had no memories, only information from the book he read before coming to this world. It was really bad because he didn''t even know magical spells; he didn''t know any at all. When he read the book, Raze didn''t have a lot of time where he cast spells, so there was no way that Raze would have any now. "Take a deep breath, calm down, one issue at a time. We don''t have the time to get worked up." Raze said to himself. He drew a deep breath and let it out slowly. He turned his attention to the starter package from the system. [This should help you get by at the start.] This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience. [Spells: Spacial Zone, Spacial Dome, Spacial Veil] [Techniques: Void Step, Phantom Blade] The first thing he saw when he looked at the message was "This should get you by at the start," and that made Raze scared. He had managed to push the thought that someone was watching him out of his head for a brief moment, but the person just had to come and remind him that he was still watching him. "If I don''t have a way to know for sure, I''ll just have to be careful." Raze said, calming himself down. He took a look at the spells and the techniques that followed. Their names looked cool, but he didn''t know exactly what they did. "Is there any explanation to them?" He asked the system, and the screen changed. [Spacial Zone: Create a ten-meter zone around your body, where you can sense everything that happens. Consumes 10 Mana points per minute.] [Spacial Dome: Create a space dome around your body to protect from physical attacks. Consumes 1 Mana point per second. This may vary depending on the attacks.] [Spacial Veil: Bend space to make you invisible. Consumes 1 Mana per second.] [Void Step: A technique that allows you to move at twice your speed in an instant.] [Phantom Blade: A technique made for the blade that allows you to create an instant phantom blade for a second and confuse your opponent.] Raze was ecstatic when he saw all these, like who wouldn''t be? They all looked cool, like very, very cool, and he was already eager to try them out. In the novel, spells and techniques had ranks. He didn''t know what rank these were, but he was certain that a first-year student at sixteen years old would never lay his hands on something like this. He knew the spells that first years used from the book, and the only person to ever get to use something relatively close to this was the MC. "Hoho, this might be the thing I needed to fix all my issues and actually be a better version of Raze," he said to himself, looking at the screen with gleaming eyes. "Wait, how do I even use these?" He asked himself. "Spells are normally cast with either a string of words or specific hand signs, but I got neither." He paused in thought for a bit. Since the system activated, he had only needed thoughts or words to use it, so maybe if he just thought about the spell, it would work. He did exactly as he thought, thinking about using Spacial Zone in his mind. The spell activated to his surprise. It spread like a pulse from his body until it got to ten meters. "Whoa, this is absolutely crazy," he said in shock. He could sense everything that was around him, from the room to right outside. He could sense the little bugs that were crawling on the ground, and he could sense the students sleeping within the ten meters range of him. "This is awesome, this is crazy," he said in excitement, but in his excitement, he noticed something¡ªthere were footprints in his room. He didn''t know this spell could do that, but from the looks of things, it could also save details of what happened in a space for a while. This was just Raze coming to a quick deduction of what was happening. Now these footprints could be his, but that wouldn''t make sense because he had taken a walk nearly around the room and he wasn''t seeing those steps. Also, the steps he was sensing didn''t start from inside the room; they started from outside in the hallway, right from the edge of his spatial zone. He could also sense other footsteps that had gone past there recently, like the person that came to tell him about the investigation, but that one stopped at the door and didn''t go any further, and then it returned back from where it came from. But this one came from outside and passed through the wall into the room, and walked to the chair that Raze had been seated in. Raze followed the footsteps and walked to his chair. The footsteps seemed to stop right there. He looked at the chair that he had hit to the ground and saw that there was a palm print on it. If what he was thinking was correct, someone came into this room and walked to the back of his chair. Maybe that was the person that killed him. But he wasn''t sure if the person actually touched him, and for some reason, he couldn''t sense anything on him using the spatial zone, only things around him. "I need a mirror," Raze said. He used the spatial zone to search for one, and he found one mirror in the cupboard under the table. He walked to the table and pulled out the mirror. It was a small circular mirror with a copper frame. He picked up the mirror and took a look. This was the first time that he had seen himself since he came into this world. He had stunning white hair, long enough to reach his neck, but it was tied into a simple ponytail. He was not a world-shattering beauty, but he was pretty handsome for a sixteen-year-old boy. His skin was oddly pale, like a vampire''s, and his eyes had a purple tint to them. But his looks were not his problem right now. He noticed that there was a palm mark on his neck, like someone had grabbed his neck from the back, and there was a thin line in front of his neck. Raze was not dumb, and in this new body, he was even smarter. That thin line across his neck was probably where the person that grabbed him slit his throat. The wound easily explained the blood that stained the paper, but he still found something very odd. When you slit the throat of someone, the blood spilled should be far more than what was on the paper. He picked the paper up again and took another look at it. The blood on it was much, but not enough. But there was a possibility that the person that killed him did it fast and left the room, and a few moments later, Nathan was transported into the body of Raze, and that somehow healed up his body. Though it didn''t really explain why there were no blood stains on Raze himself. "Whatever, all that doesn''t matter right now. What matters is the fact that I was assassinated by someone, or the original body was. And that was what created the gap for me to come into this world. This is something that never happened in the story. It''s not just a little change, this is a major change," Raze said. He dropped the piece of paper and walked to the door. He held the door knob and slowly opened the door with the lamp in his left hand. He slowly opened the door, trying to make very little sound, but the door was slightly old and still caused some creaking. He finally got it wide enough to step out of the room. He left the door open and walked out of the room, walking quietly on the wooden floors of the dorm building. He walked slowly, following the footsteps that his zone would sense. He passed several doors as he went, trying to be as quiet as possible. After a while of following the footsteps, he could no longer sense them. They just stopped appearing. "Seems the track has gone cold. I won''t be able to find who actually killed me. But at least I have something to work with now," Raze said. He turned back and returned to his room. He carefully closed the door to not make any sounds. When he was inside, he walked to his chair and picked it up. He placed the lamp on the table and sat down. He removed his large hardback notebook from the stack of books carefully and opened it. Suddenly, he felt a huge wave of fatigue hit him. The spatial zone fluctuated. He quickly turned it off, and immediately he got relief. He had forgotten that the spell worked with mana, and when mana got low, it made the person feel weak. "I should be careful when using any spell. I don''t want to harm myself," he made a mental note to not forget. He looked into the cupboard again. There was a pen, one that looked too modern for the age period of the story. It was like a fountain pen, with a black metal frame. According to the story, this world was old when compared to Earth, but it was still advanced in many ways due to the use of magic. Frame up. Raze looked at the paper. He placed the top of the pen on it, and the ink slowly dropped out, creating a dot. "My first issue is the fact that I was murdered," Raze said and wrote that down inside the book. He drew a line from the statement and started writing other things as well. "The person that killed me was somehow able to enter my room through the wall," he said as he wrote it down. He paused and lifted the pen, tapping it on his forehead twice. "I don''t recall any student having such a magical ability from the book. Maybe they didn''t use it in the story, or they were never in the story''s main line of plot, just side characters," he thought out loud. He placed the pen back on the paper and continued to write. "This person is capable of entering a room undetected and has the calmness to kill someone and walk away." Raze wrote that down, read it again, and stared at the things he wrote. "This barely narrows it down. I need more information. It could be a teacher," he said, but then he remembered the size of the footprints, and they were pretty small, like a student''s feet. "It''s still possible that they belong to a teacher, maybe one with pretty small feet, or a woman. But a woman wouldn''t wear that type of shoe¡ªnot normally¡ªbut she would need something comfortable to commit such a crime," Raze said, and then he wrote everything down, putting all his thoughts on paper. He tapped his pen on the paper. He felt he was missing something that could help this whole thing move faster. Was it motive? Nah, a lot of people had the motive to kill him. He had become a mega ass in the last few months. "Sigh, that''s enough for now. The killer can wait. There''s a more pressing issue right now," Raze said. When day broke, he would be in a different level of trouble, and the killer would no longer matter. "Annabell. She is the only one that knows I set up the whole thing yesterday, the only one the school would actually believe. For now, I''m the prime suspect, and that''s an issue. Even if I kill her, they''ll think I did it to cover my tracks. How do I carry this out without anyone knowing it''s me?" Raze asked. He flipped to the next page and tapped his pen against the paper as he thought, leaving ink dots. "Framing. I could frame someone," he said after the idea popped into his head, "someone random, someone that no one can actually trace back to me." He wrote that down as fast as he got the idea and then started thinking of how to actually execute it. From the book, Annabell was in the nurse''s office, resting there after her treatments. But she was guarded, as the school believed that it was not safe to leave her without protection after someone tried to kill her. But Raze wasn''t worried, because he also knew something from the book that would literally allow him to carry out the operation without an issue. So he started writing again. "This world has a similar time frame as Earth. The author made it that way, and three hours after midnight, the guard needs to go take a piss, and that''s the opening," Raze wrote that down. In the novel, it was within that opening that Raze went to kill the girl, but immediately after he entered, the MC came in a few seconds later to check on her as well and saw Raze. "The MC, that idiot, will be coming within that time frame. I could frame him. No, that''s too easy. Also, I doubt that will be enough to take him down. He can just say that he saw someone come in and he followed to check. He could lie his way out." Raze tapped the pen on the book again. "Fine, someone else will have to take the fall," he said and got up from his chair. He ripped out the pages that he wrote on, folded the book, and then put it in his trouser pockets. He didn''t want to make the mistake of letting it just lie around for someone to see. "System, show me my mana." [80/100] "Not yet full. It does refill by itself like I expected, but it takes some time to get filled up. Either way, this should work." He walked to his cupboard, opened it, and moved his clothes to the side. There was a small pocket knife there, the one that he used to try and kill the girl in the story. He picked it up and carefully placed it in his trouser pocket.Stolen content warning: this content belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences. He drew a deep breath and carefully opened the room door, quietly leaving the room. He walked into the hallway and locked his door with the key before placing it into his pocket and then activating the lock formation by placing his hand on the knob, and it absorbed some of his mana. He walked through the hallway as quietly as he could, not wanting to make a single sound. His aim was the last room before the stairs. He made it to the room, and then he used Spatial Zone. The pulse went out, and he could see the person sleeping on the bed¡ªthe perfect target. But the person was sleeping, so he walked to the door and knocked on it loud enough to wake the person up. Because the hallway was dark at night, no light turned on. He wasn''t too scared of anyone else coming out of their rooms, since they wouldn''t be able to see his face. After knocking the first time, the boy didn''t wake up, so he knocked again and then again. Finally, the boy dragged himself from his bed and started heading to the door while mumbling curses at whoever was at the door. He got to the door in anger and didn''t even ask who was there. He started unlocking the door. Raze quickly hid at the side. The door opened, and the boy looked outside. Immediately the boy''s head came outside the door, a powerful punch to the side of his face landed. The force of the punch pushed the boy, causing him to slam his head on the other side of the doorway and lose consciousness immediately. "Ouch, that hurt," Raze said as he shook the hand that he used to land the punch. He knew it was only a matter of time before someone came out to check the noise, so he dragged the body into the room immediately and shut the door. And just as he expected, some of the students nearby came out of their rooms with lamps in their hands. They looked outside, and when they didn''t see anything, they went back in and shut their doors. "Phew, thank goodness kids are not thorough," Raze said. He grabbed the boy and used all his strength to lift him off the ground, groaning as he did it. When he successfully picked the boy off the ground and onto his shoulder, he slowly opened the door and activated spacial zone to ensure that no one was hiding or waiting. After confirming that no one was there, he headed for the stairs. He carefully carried the boy while going down the stairs. Luckily for him, in this four-story dorm building, his room was on the second floor, so he only needed to head one flight of stairs down. He got off the stairs and carefully headed for the exit of the dorm building. There was never anyone watching the dorm buildings, and that was why students could leave and do whatever they wanted. Raze didn''t know exactly what time it was now, but he tried to estimate because, in the story, Raze had gone to the nurse''s office twenty minutes after being told someone would launch an investigation. And though he spent more time now, the guard would not leave to take a piss for about twenty minutes. So Raze had some time to work with. He left the dorm room and immediately took a route through the back. This route branched into a small forest that bordered the academy from the west side. Most non-academic buildings, like the nurse''s office, the dorms, and other facilities, were built on the west side of the academy. So Raze walked under the cover of the trees until he got to the nurse''s office. He couldn''t go deeper into the forest because the academy kept many dangerous creatures there for various reasons, and it would be his death if he ventured further. But he could skim through the outskirts and go unseen. This was not an easy task, especially when carrying a boy who weighed more than 60 kg. Raze''s knees kept buckling as he went along. But he successfully made his journey through the quiet and eerie dark forest. He could now see the light from the building. The nurse''s office, as students normally called it, was more of an infirmary or small hospital. He walked toward the building and found a place to hide, waiting for the right time for the guard to leave. He carefully dropped the boy''s body on the ground so he wouldn''t wake up. He waited for over ten minutes, and finally, the guard came out to ease himself. The guard walked into the forest, passing by the place where Raze hid. Now that it was clear, Raze picked the boy up and scurried into the building. He quickly searched for the girl and found her on one of the beds. She was sound asleep, so this was the perfect opportunity. Raze carefully took out the knife, grabbed a pillow from another bed, and came closer to her slowly. "Sorry, Annabel, you have to go for me to continue what I need to do. Hate me in the afterlife," he spoke in a calm tone. Raze didn¡¯t know why he was calm enough to do something like this, but he didn¡¯t feel any guilt. He covered her face with the pillow and then stabbed the blade into her chest, slowly until it pierced her heart, killing her in her sleep. This time, he had successfully done it because he didn¡¯t hesitate. Unlike the original Raze from the story, he had hesitated too much, giving the hero enough time to come in and catch him. Raze pulled the blade out, wiped the handle with his shirt, and placed the blade in the hands of the boy he had brought here. He looked around and found a bowl of water. He sprinted to it, grabbed it, and splashed the boy before casting spacial veil and going invisible. The boy woke up, coughing loudly. He looked around, confused. He quickly got up, nearly falling again, but managed to steady himself. That was when he noticed the blood-covered blade in his hands. At that exact instant, the protagonist walked in¡ªa handsome dude with jet-black hair and eyes that looked like the abyss. The protagonist froze when he saw the boy, and the boy froze as well. He slowly looked behind him and saw that someone had been killed. "No, no, no, I swear," the boy stammered. He understood how it looked right now. Being the only person here and holding a blood-stained knife, he tried to explain, but it was already too late. The protagonist was already filled with rage. He pulled the sword hanging from his waist and charged at full speed. Before the boy could even defend himself, the sword pierced through his chest. The guard came back when he heard the commotion. He saw the protagonist stabbing the boy, ran inside, and pulled him away to check on the boy. But then he saw the girl had been killed. "He killed her," the protagonist said, tears streaming down his face.
