    Hako sighs. "Just. Just go to sleep then. Its not like youll fail the class since youre a know it all" rolls eyes. "Thats a pretty good idea" yawns "when did you get so smart Hako" "IVE ALWAYS BE SMART ASSHOLE!" Hako gumbles. "Goodnight koko" Hako sighs and smirks "goodnight love. Im going to wake you up if I need help though so dont get too comfortable now" "yeah yeah"


    I slowly drift off to sleep thinking about how soft and cuddly the baby pokemon are and counting the wooloo as they jump over a fence. Suddenly my dream starts to lurch and jerk around "what? What the hells going on?" "BRACE YOURSELF CHILD. WE DON''T HAVE TIME." an ethereal voice booms inside my head. I wince in pain but try my best to brace, for what I dont know.


    I feel space rip and roar around me as I feel my body fall faster and faster, until suddenly I feel myself land in a veritable mountain of snow. "S-shit. I dont have any winter gear with me. Or even if this is my real body. Wasnt I dreaming when i got... thrown? I think?" Sighs "either way I need to find shelter and a heat source" *where do I even begin? I have no idea where I am at all or whats around me* sighs Arceus this is a bad idea.     "I guess uh ... is that west? Guess that way then" after a few hours I stumble upon a stream thats unfrozen and I can see some magikarp. "Finally food! I was getting hungry" I walk over and pick up one of the slow moving magikarp and throw it to shore "that should he good for a meal and some snacks for the road just gotta cook it"


    After setting up the fire and skewering the meat setting them up to cook I started construction on a place to sleep hoping my survival class didnt lie about how warm these shelters can keep you as Im feeling the start of frostbite nip at me. "Arceus its getting cold. I really need to get my bed setup, this is getting ridiculous" at least my dinner helped warm me up, fresh cooked magikarp is so light and flakey it warms you right up and everything.


    Sighs. "Well no point staying up longer lets just hope i made this right its been so long since i took a winter survival class" winces, yeah... I definitely need practice making shelters this looks, well honestly horrid" looks at my barely standing shelter. "Thats a problem for later" laughs hysterically "bedtime Kale"


    I woke up from both the daylight in my eyes from my semi collapsed shelter and the sound of... chewing? I whisper "shit... I forgot to put up the food" I grab my walking stick hoping itll be enough to scare whatevers out there away. Ver, snow, sno ver. "Huh? I recognize that pokemon. Shover! Oh thank goodness its not a predatory mon" I sigh in relief


    "Hows the meal little guy?" VER, VER SNOW! "OH GIRL, girl. I apologize. So do you... like the meal? I thought snover only ate berries?" Snover nods and smiles "well how about you help me catch some more and I can cook some more" snover runs over to the stream and makes a net out of a vinewhip "creative. I like how you think" Ill go start the fire just bring me 2 or 3 you want cooked, oh and if you have any berries I could really use one" gestures to a bunch of scrapes and small injuries.

 The Food issue

    Snover feels around inside its... fur? Foliage? Well she is a grass type so im going to assume foliage is correct here? And pulls out what looks to be... a berry frozen in ice? "Uh snover? I dont think I can eat that as it is, thats got some pretty thick ice on it" she stares at me like Im an idiot before dropping a rock on it breaking the ice off. "Oh. Yeah I probably should''ve thought to try that first huh"


    "Once you bring back whatever you can fish up for us or gather Ill start on dinner" she nods and walks off presumably to go get some food. sighs "I guess I''ll need to take an inventory of what I have with me still that actually works because that fall definitely broke some of my stuff"


    "Alright so, it looks like my belt with all my pokemon didnt get transported with me which makes sense as I had left them at the pokecenter before class. I was still hoping it wouldve somehow come with me like how my body and a few things in close proximity did but This could definitely have been worse. I cant imagine wandering around as a disembodied soul for the rest of eternity"


    "Next it looks like my gym clothes are still in my bag. Oh and I have my bag too which has.... just got my homework in it and my lunch box... which the food in it. Turned to dust? Thats something to think about layer for sure" snover! "Oh your back. Whatve you brought me?" Snover stands to the side revealing a spheal. "I- snover where did you find that?"     Snover points to the trail she left headed through the woods. "I''m guessing you found a lake or something. And I''m hopeing this was the only one you found... Snover please tell me this was the only one there" Snover nods slowly in affirmation "Thank Arceus for that. We would have died if you killed a spheal near a walreign"


    "Okay. Breathe Kale, everythings fine now" "snover can you use Ice shard at a low power into that snow pile for me? I need something sharp to properly harvest this" SNOOOOO- VER! "Thanks cutie" ruffles the foliage on her head "lunch will be ready soon. Im going to smoke the left overs and we can try and find civilization tomorrow. You dont have to come with me if you dont want to but I''d love to have you with me. You dont need to answer now, take some time to think and tell me in the morning"


    Morning comes and I finish packing up. Nows the moment of truth will Snover chose to come with me and help me find civilization or do I continue on without her. I do hope she comes with me its been nice having someone to talk to and help with tasks. Its freed me up to heal and stock up more food for exploring.


    Ver sno sno ver. "I have no clue what that means snover. Ive been guessing what your saying since the start based on hand gestures and body language" she puts her hand to her face and sighs. Sno. Ver. Snover sno. She makes a gesture like someones lost... "so youre saying Id get lost without you? I mean I''m already lost now so can I really get lost twice?" I smirk "OW what was that for?" Snover snickers after hitting me with a vine whip jusy enough it stings.


    "Dick move. But Id do the same thing hahaha" oh we''re going to have a blast I can already tell we''ll be best friends. "Lets get going then, were losing daylight and since I''ve no idea what season were in lets make sure we make the most of it in case the days are getting shorter"

 Homeward bound! I think?

    1 month later


    "Hey Snover. we''ve been together for a while now do you uh... want a nickname?" Snover stops walking and turns around. VER SNO she yells as she breaks out with a big smile. "alright. I have a few ideas when you hear one you like let me know and I''ll stop" she nods "okay. snowball, snowy, sequoia, willow, Beira" Snover! "you like Beira?" snover nods enthusiastically


    "That''s quite a strong name. it suits you" Snover smiles at her new nickname and gives Kale a hug "aw Im glad you like it. but please let go youre freezing and I still dont have winter gear" snover lets go and brushes some of the snow she got on her off.


    Sno, Snover points to the trail where I can see the break of daylight. "are we close then? it has been a longer journey than expected with the snowfall confusing our sense of direction" Snover nods in agreement and tugs on Kales sleeve. "I''m coming I''m coming"


    we all but run the last few hundred feet to the end of the trail and stop in awe of what we see, one from how beautiful the scene is... the other. in fear. "no... it. it cant be. no no no no."

    "Why me. why now." my thoughts run wild as I''m trying to prevent myself from having a total meltdown. that voice from back then, it was Arceus. it had to be. its the only one with the tendency to throw so called heroes back in time without preparation. at least if it was a celebi that did it I couldve kept my pokemon and had supplies but Arceus is notorious for barely giving its heroes a scrap to connect with their original time or world.

I don''t expect you to give a direction since you said you basically stumbled upon the city" "I can do that. it was a snowy clearing surrounded by fir trees, with a small stream nearby that only had magikarp in it and minimal foliage. other than that it was at the foot of a small hill or mountain I couldn''t tell you which it seemed between those sizes, I believe that''s were the beartic came from they must''ve thought we were intruding on its territory or something." "that would make sense. beartic are highly territorial especially in packs" "lastly my other reason reason to want to enter the city is I wish to meet the current leader of Nixtrom and ask something of him."

    hey guys! sorry for a lack of chapters this week I meant to post this earlier but forgot to. its been a very busy week so theres not really been time for me to write, Ill likely be back on schedule for next week and Ill make it at least 3 chapters to make it up for yall. thanks for the understanding! hope yalls week is going good.Stolen content alert: this content belongs on Royal Road.
