《Dungeon Architect》 Purple Particles: Ch 1 I thought dying would be painful, and it was, it was so painful, I lost my emotions, like something had broke, within me, and then, the pain melted away as the fire burned my nerves, after that, nothing. The pain was gone, but so was everything else, my eyes, my ears, my tongue, which I bit off out of pain. The only thing that has not gone, was smell, I could still meat cooking, until that smell too disappeared. It was like I was left in an abyss, void, nothingness. Soon that nothingness changed. There was light. I looked away to stop my eyes from stinging. Eyes. ''How do I have eyes, I know they were gone, melted. I felt and saw them melt. So how do I have eyes did a doctor implant me with new eyes as some experiment or is this what a brain in a jar does when still technically alive, hallucinate. I look back at the light noticing it had expanded and changed. What used to be a tear of light, now is the shape of a door and the once white colour has changed to blue, which surprisingly mixes quite well with a background of nothingness. I stare and watch the light door to see what else it would do, but after what felt like years, The door has not changed, though I have noticed a faint hue around the door, making fit the background more, becoming even more beautiful. I could have stayed, waiting to see if the door would change, but not wanting to stare at a door till the end of time, I float towards it, floating felt weird, like flying on the edge of a black hole, type weird. It was like someone tied a rope around me, and was pulling. when I first noticed I could move, I was lapping around the door, while I getting used to the feeling. When floating around, the door did not change, move or in any way do something when I flew around, it just sat there. Going toward the door, I reach out to where I expect the handle to be, instead, I touch the door, no handle. The blue light brightens, getting so bright that I think I had lost my eyes again, instead the light soon after dies down, all the way until it was completely gone, leaving a single box, that when looked away from, it followed my vision. Considering countless reincarnation stories, I could have been in a much worse situation. Hitting dungeon on this wheel of fate thing is probably one of the many jackpots, with the guide, without them this one would be much worse.'' ''So a new name... lets just go with Skoldmyrr or skol. I got the name from the 2 words Skoldra, and Myrkuro from some old Norse, or something. I combined Skoldra meaning shield, and Myrkuro meaning darkness, not that I am going with shield and darkness stuff for my dungeon. I just liked the 2 words, and combined them.''Stolen content warning: this tale belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences elsewhere. Honestly if I had what I used to, I would probably be swayed by my memories of family, friends, and my dog, Leila. I would have had a lot of thoughts going back and fourth. Luckily, what I used to have, my emotions. melted in that fire with me, or maybe I am a just brain in a jar, or in a similar situation. When I had finished reading, I got a sudden jolt of shock, not the painful type that stories usually have, but more like I had remembered something I had forgotten. it was soothing, like a calm stream flowing through a vibrant forest. Don''t die to quickly, it would cause issues if you were small part dungeon, big part human spiritually!] [Stay Alive for... 167 years to offset human soul dominance.] "Human soul dominance, small part dungeon?" I asked but received no answer. A sudden materialisation of a portal pulled me in before I could ask again. ... Exiting the portal, the first thing I see, is I am in the same place, the nothingness, though, maybe it was a different part of the nothing, it''s not like I would be able to tell, as the door, that used to be my only landmark. Is now gone. Suddenly, after a quick look around. I felt like I had been tied, bound and anchored, all at the same time. I felt dizzy at the feeling, but then, the dizziness and anchoring faded, like it had never been there. I look back around and still see nothing, including myself this time. I know something happened, I had been put into the heart/core of the dungeon, or made into the dungeon heart/core. I suddenly notice a memory that has started giving off a feeling, an almost alluring feeling, urging me to recount it?, I do not resist, which I could have easily. The first thing I see is nothing then as if from nowhere a blue light appears, and is perfectly circular, starts slowly growing over time until the blue light, which now looks like a massive sphere, touches the ground. I know it is the ground, just as I know what the texture of as cactus feels like, without ever licking, touching, or eating one. The ground was rugged, like gravel, but more solid. If you were to walk on it barefoot, it would be painful, with countless scratches and cuts. it was some type of stony ground, maybe a cave, mountain, or some other type of place that has a stone ground like this. Just then, the sphere which was still growing, touched a wall, and celling, at the same time, meaning, they were of equal distance from the centre of the sphere. The wall was more smooth with bumps and the occasional sharp rock sticking out, and the celling was smooth with the same type of sharp rocks poking out, this time facing directly down, if someone hits their head on these, they would need serious help. The memory then cuts off, I reached the end. So if I had to guess what that was, it was either claiming, expanding domain, the way dungeons see things, or both. I just need to figure out how that blue light, which I assume is mana. Is created and expanded, So it is time to deeply analyse the mana first, then do the same for when it expands. ... After a couple refreshes, I notice tiny, verrry tiny faint blue particles all converging and creating the light I saw, it took a while to figure out as I did not know I could zoom in on memories, I don''t think many people knew, or can''t, so maybe being a dungeon gives me better memory abilities. Though that leaves me with another question. ''How do I gather the particles?'' Tricky Particles: Ch 2 From what I can see, There is nothing, not a single thing pulling, controlling or doing anything to the purple particles, it is like they all just suddenly started moving in the same direction, or are being pulled in, like there is a vortex there. I have watched, zoomed and done everything I can, but the answer is still not there. Maybe I can control the particles becuase I just can, or I can make a vortex to pull in the particles but tha would mean I have some form of control. There is only one way to find out, it is not like watching anymore would help anyway. ... Snapping back to reality, still seeing nothing. I first try to see if I can see those particles like I could in the memory. I try to zoom in, like I did my memories, which felt like I had put on binoculars, mimicing the proccess, I went just one step away from being blind, I could now see the bright light of a purple particle, in all its... purplness. I had zoomed in too much. From my perspective this thing looked bigger than a building, though in reality, was smaller than a strand of hair, if not smaller. Confirming I could, in fact, zoom and see the particles. I had to first learn, never go max power on the zooming, second I could now move onto the next step, throwing and seeing what sticks, starting with creating a vortex, aka. creating a force that pulls things in from all angles. Using the same method as zooming, I imagine myself, or in this case, the void, appearing and pulling in from all sides, and learning my lesson on the full drive, I don''t go too crazy, which worked, but not at what I needed it to work on. I can feel a sligh pulling sensation from wher I imagined the vortex to be. I look near the vortex, watching the particles, which were flowing without care, clearly not being pulled in, so just as I had created the vortex, I dispersed it. Now to try and move the particles directly. I used the same method of imagination as last time, and made a single particle to move how I wanted, and it did. I then tried to combine it with the another particle, which also worked, but I then lost control once the purple turned blue, then spitting back apart, both turning purple again. Seeing that it half worked, I tried to instead control both the particles and make the combine, which, again worked, until, I once again, lost control, and it spit back apart. I need some way to keep control of the blue particles, or at least some way to prevent it from splitting again. ... The genuine version of this novel can be found on another site. Support the author by reading it there.''This is annoying'' I have so far, tried to make a sphere prison to keep the particles inside of, which worked, reminding me of fireflies. And I don''t know why this worked, and the vortex didn''t. But the particles still split even inside the sphere, and if I make the sphere soo small that there is no room to split, the sphere breaks from the pressure, which also created ripples when the sphere broke, making me feel dizzy, like I had been thrown around. Maybe the sphere prison worked because I wanted it to contain the particles, no that''s stupid, I am just grasping at straws, but then again, I don''t exactly know how being a dungeon worked, I also looked at the other memories, though they were interesting, they are useless right now. Well, it is not like I have any other ideas, maybe grasping as straws is what I need to do. I decide to test this on the vortex first, as the last time I used it, it failed, so it would be a good place to start. Going through the same process as last time, with the addition of wanting it to pull particles. I form the vortex, just like last time, I watch the particles nearby. ... Though it was not much, there was a pull, a very weak, and slow pull, but there was a pull. I decide to put a bit more into the vortex, to make it faster, which it did do, but I had forgotten my lesson, I had put it to full power. The vortex began to pull fast, and heavy, all the particles in the area, instantly, shot towards the vortex, faster than bullets, in less than a second, there were no more particles in the area, as they were all gathered in 1 single spot. The particles in the vortex were rapidly combining, becoming blue, and growing rapidly, until they had all combined into 1 big ball. through this process, I was fighting, not the pull, as it itself did not affect me, but, instead gave me a headache that continued to grow, until, I had turned down the vortex enough to stop it. ... After recovering enough to continue. I look back at the vortex, specifically the ball which had grown while I was recovering, as well as noticing that the vortex was still pulling in particles, even though, there were none left, I then noticed that all around me the particles that had all been absorbed, had been replaced, maybe more particles manifested, or came from some place to fill in the gap I made. Regardless this has solved the problem of expanding the sphere, as it will just expand on its own over time, I even double checked with my memory, to make sure I am doing it right, and I am. All I can do for the moment is wait for the sphere which I will call my sight, from now on. to grow big enough to actually see something, something that isn''t the nothingness, or particles, but something new. ... While waiting for my sight to grow, I look back in my memories, looking at the next one over, and begin to watch it. I immediately see that this memory is in a cave, like the last. And I can see what I think is a core, giving off a blue shimmering light, in the centre of the cave, reminding me of the saying, ''A diamond in the rough''. I then notice that one of the walls, now has a chunk missing from it, I then watch as another disappear, shining blue, before it disappears, then another, and another, until the wall now has a new opening, leading to a dead end, that still grows further and further away. The memory cuts off just then. Digging: Ch 3 This is just teaching me to, ''Eat'' rock now, isn''t it. Getting back to reality, I notice something, the tip of some stone rising from the ground, or more like I am expanding to it. I notice another rock, then another, and another, until I have what looks like gravel before my sight hits the solid ground. There was a layer of rocks, and stones over the stone ground. Before long, I can see a celling, then a wall, one of those walls have an opening, either leading deeper in a cave, or is the entrance. After getting a full view of the cave I notice it is completely circular, not perfectly due to the rocky surface, but a circle is still a circle, no matter how imperfect. It is then that I notice a blue glowing rock, which is exactly the same as from my memories, If a little smaller, giving off that same bluish glow. Admiring myself for a moment, I realised I know know how many stones, and rocks, are in here. There is 1,068 of them. I can figure out how I know this later, it is not important to learn the how''s and why''s right now. I need to learn how to eat rocks, solid stone, and whatever else. Never thought I would say that before. Now that I have enough things in my vision, I can start to decipher how to eat rocks, or well, I already know how, after I you know what to look out for, it is easy, first check if mana, or particles, are being used, and if not, I have to use my control. Though this one seems to be a mix of both. So first I have to gather mana, then push it to the rock, at which point the rock will glow, and then I have to use my control to remove the rock, dismantling it into particles so small, that they practically don''t exist, then convert the particles into oxygen, I assume I have to do this so that stuff can breathe. I assume, I have to use mana as a way to increase my influence the rock, as when I tried to do this without mana, I did nothing but create a gust of wind. ''So mana is some type of enhancer, of the power I already have, and my natural power, without mana. Can only influence things the size of particles, so why can I still control the mana, when it''s already much bigger. That aside, I could make my own type of disease with this, if I knew how...'' So first, form the mana... Then guide it to a wall, I will go for the wall opposite the entrance. This story has been unlawfully obtained without the author''s consent. Report any appearances on Amazon.I begin to slowly guide the mana, being very carful not to let it fall, if that is possible. Or break, it would be annoying to redo all that gathering. Moving the mana slowly it finally makes contact with the wall, and I feel a jolt, but I continue until it is all in the wall. After it is all finally in the wall, I feel a sensation, a feeling like I grew a new limb. I guess this is what the connection part feels like. Shaking my thoughts aside, I continue onto the next part, and use my control to dissipate the part I control, which looks like a toddlers attempt at drawing a circle. I had lost control of the mana, when it was in the wall, as it became sluggish, and stubborn, resisting my attempts at moving it. Continuing with the disintegration, the rock quickly began to turn to dust, as particles of mana, which were in those rocks, split off, flowing back into the cave, not dissolving back to their purple form, again something to study later. When the rock finished dissolving, there was a new head sized hole, near the bottom of the wall. Soon after I gathered the mana again and repeated the process, over and over again. Skipping ahead a few hours. I now have what looks like either, something someone who doesn''t know how to dig made, or something that was naturally made, or in this case separated... To reveal more rock. I managed to get a couple steps in, before reaching the edge of my vision, which stopped me from continuing. I also noticed that my vision stopped moving a couple steps past the entrance, the one that''s been here the entire time. but it is continuing to expand in every other direction, just not any farther past the entrance, as if there is something stopping it. All things considered, I have noticed that my vision expands quicker, now that the mana is not being spread out as much, and those blue particles, that came as a side effect of dissolving the rock. Are also being pulled in, increasing the speed even more, though it is still verrrry slow. maybe I can speed up the process by gathering mana and just putting it in, I know, I could just increase the power of the pull instead, but I don''t want to experience "that" again. And with nothing else to do I may as well try it, and it should work. So I "grab" the particles, one at a time, and toss them to the vortex, which, after a couple minutes, did increase my view, by a little, but hey, at least this increases the view expand speed, if I do it manually. now it''s not verrry slow anymore, so that''s a plus. Anyway, Soon after, I get back to tossing particles, which, made me feel like I was throwing crunched up paper in the bin. Ok I got bored of grabbing particles 1 at a time, at some point, I began grabbing multiple at at time, from 2 to 4, 10, 20 and so on. and throwing them all at the same time from different angles, but even that is getting boring now. May as well check how much my vision grew. looking at my tunnel, I can see, I can now dig roughly... 10 STEPS!. Wow, looks like manually doing it is really effective, maybe I should set it up so.. no no, then I will have no particles to dig with. After contemplating, if I should setup a grabby thing, I finally get to digging. After my tunnel was roughly 15 steps long, I can finally get to setting up a second cave, though, I guess I should start calling them rooms now, that is what stories call them after all, and rooms sound better than caves.
