《A Dragons Equal?! Thats Immposible?!》 A Humbling Experience Donatello woke up excitedly or at least as excited as he could be. It''s his 10th birthday today so that means his entire family is gonna get together to throw him into a cave full of dragon types for the next 6 months. Context is needed huh, well in the Draco family it¡¯s been a tradition since ancient times to send a child into the dragon''s den once they reach ten years old. This is so they could learn and grow with the powerful Pokemon for 6 years until they are old enough to train pokemon, or in modern times go on a Pok¨¦mon journey. If a child manages to survive for 6 years and come out with a partner dragon they are permitted to leave on their journey. This had been lowered in more recent times because, shocker, most 10 year olds couldn¡¯t survive six years with powerful dragons. Thanks to his family¡¯s affinity towards dragon type pokemon that¡¯s been with them for centuries as well as his family¡¯s ability to keep at the top of Kanto/Johto¡¯s league for as long as it¡¯s existed, he¡¯s filthy rich. They weren¡¯t the only dragon masters, I mean Lance and Clair are right there, but they were the most abundant and dominant. Anyway back to Donatello maids and butlers are currently rushing around the whole estate decorating, cleaning, etc much to his annoyance. This meant his siblings would pester him about ¡°not getting nervous about his big day." He didn¡¯t care much for what they had to say currently right now he was simply going through his morning routine getting dressed, brushing his teeth, the usual stuff. He wanted to see the cave he would delve into later today. As he made his way there he got distracted by his father and the concerned look on his face as he typed in the code to open the vault door. It took annoyingly long for the vault door to slowly swing open. His father waited patiently fiddling with an ultra ball. One of the maids ran up to him, but Donatello was too far away to hear whatever she said. His father quickly dismissed her, shooing her away. In his ten years of life not once had Donatello seen his father open the vault. It was full of valuable items, that¡¯s all he¡¯d ever heard about it. Once his father had fully opened it, it was stunning so much gold, so many rare pokeballs, paintings, there were at least three master balls in the room. His father walked up to a pedestal and grabbed a purely black pokeball and a gray pokeball. Then he walked out with the most concerned look Donatello had ever seen him wear, his prideful powerful dragon of a father looked scared and that scared him Finally, his father had noticed him ¡°Donny, perfect timing come, quickly, outside.¡± Donatello had to run to keep up with his father¡¯s speed walk but they made it outside and his father tossed up the two pokeballs. ¡°Donny hold this and don¡¯t get scared just point it in between them.¡± As he finished his sentence the pokeballs burst open releasing the legendary Pokemon Zekrom and next to it the legendary Pokemon Kyurem. Donatello shivered and immediately began to sweat. He was terrified but he did as his father instructed and held what he now put together were DNA splicers. He clicked the button and twin beams shot at both legends before they roared and began to fuse. They grew bigger, even more huge than they already were. Ice took over half of Zekrom¡¯s body, its lower body then an arm and after that a wing and its lower jaw and a crest formed on its head with a large yellow scale. Then the beast woke up, tube thingies connected its main body to its tail. They roared blue electricity surging through the tubes from its tail. Donatello had always assumed he was a prideful kid, fearless and strong like a dragon he still had, but once he took one look at the legendary Black Kyurem¡ It took everything Donatello had to not piss his pants right then and there. His father spoke up first ¡°Kyurem and Zekrom I humbly request you once again lend your aid in laying it to rest. For some reason it still hasn¡¯t returned to its temple in the Galar region and it has awoken again in the depths of the dragon¡¯s den.¡± Donatello would have been shocked if he wasn¡¯t frozen in fear his father never bowed let alone asked for anything he took what he wanted! That only made Donny more fearful of the dragon fusion. And what was his father so afraid of sleeping in the den that he requested a legendary fusion¡¯s help to only put it to rest? He was supposed to be in that cave for the next 6 months! Black Kyurem growled and nodded before turning to look at Donatello. The dragon raised its hand and pointed at him. His father spoke up again ¡°You can¡¯t be serious Black you''re telling me it¡¯s waiting for him! What did my son do to anger a Sinnoh legend!¡± Kyurem shook its head and pointed more urgently. ¡°What? Do you want him to go down there with us or something?¡± Kyurem nodded and Donny shook in fear. Before he finally spoke up ¡°K-Kyurem you want m-me to go into the dragon¡¯s den¡¯s depths with you and father? I don¡¯t even have a Pokemon yet you can¡¯t be serious.¡± His father looked over at him ¡°I¡¯m sorry Donny but we don¡¯t have time to try and compromise with black every moment is a moment it gets closer to the surface. Now hurry climb on!¡± His father leapt onto the dragon''s back and offered an arm. Donny took it against his instinct to run because a dragon¡¯s pride would never allow it to run away and that is what everyone in the Draco family was supposed to be. Dragons. Donny kept still as Black Kyurem rose into the sky. Mostly because if he tried to do anything else he''d scream, and he had enough of being scared even if his father was nervous. Within moments they were at the entrance of the dragon''s den and dove in. Donny was stunned the whole cave despite being underground was lit up with an incredible blue tint. But the real reason he was stunned was the beauty of it all. A Salamance flew across his vision as it battled with a Flygon. A group of Noibat in the background flying steadily using sound waves to expertly traverse the stalactites as a group. Looking slightly down you''d see a Bagon jump off a cliff head first determined to fly despite having no wings, only to plummet to the floor and leave a huge hole with its tough head. A battle between dragons to rise a level in their pack on a plateau surrounded in a fight circle. Unauthorized usage: this tale is on Amazon without the author''s consent. Report any sightings.Even further down on the cave floor different packs of dragons walk around searching for their next prey. While some traversed alone in pursuit of strength and evolution. Before Donny realized they were flying deeper and deeper in the cave on a slant downwards. 2 hours of flying at top speed it wasn''t so fun anymore. The deeper in the cave they got the warmer it got. Stronger dragons also appeared deeper in looking older, wiser and more battle worn. Until something shifted in the atmosphere, Donny didn''t care about the heat anymore, in fact it was a cold sweat he felt now he was on edge the hair on his neck stood straight up. He could tell his dad felt the same thing though he looked accustomed to it. Finally they came upon the source of this powerful aura, Donny couldn''t describe the creature, it was a shock to him he had been tutored on dragon types his whole life he was sure he knew every dragon even the legends there was Kyurem, Reshiram, Zekrom, Eternatus, Rayquaza and the three whose existence wasn''t confirmed Giratina Palkia and Dialga. But this... thing was unlike any dragon he''d ever seen. It was like a big crystal ball with 7 blue dots and nubby legs with what he had to assume were dragon bones for feet because of what looked like a Charizard skull split down the jaw for arms? The skull was huge too. "F-Father what in the name of Giratina is that?! is it even a dragon!" Donny yelled as they both hopped off Black Kyurem. His father ignored him to yell for Kyurem to use Freeze Shock. Kyurem, charged with electricity, held its hands out charging a ball of electricity with its unfrozen hand and ice with the frozen one. The dragon ball thing wasn''t inactive though its arms, or that''s what Donny thought they were, switched places the bottom half of the maw in between its legs and top half of the maw directly on top of its head as it began charging pure dragon energy to attack. The charging took less then a second for both sides as the attacks collided Kyurem''s winning out thanks to its ice typing and exploding upon impact with its target. The ball backed away clearly pissed and Donny''s Father sent out 2 of his personal Pokemon. Druddigon and Dragapult hit the field looking prepared like this was something they''d done before firing of dragon pulse and dragon darts respectively. Donny tried speaking to his father again "Clearly you''ve done this before! Why not try and catch it? I saw there were master balls in the vault!" No response as his father continued to yell commands. "Dragon claw! Hold it, Druddigon!" "Dragapult you and your Dreepy distract it, pester it in any way!" "Black charge up another Freeze Shock!" All of the pokemon fulfill his orders perfectly. Druddigon despite intense struggle holds the maw apart canceling out its ability to use the powerful attack it had used previously. But Druddigon used a Dragon Dance to hold strong for 3 seconds. "Now release it Black!" The charged freeze shock was blinding as it traveled at high speed towards the bound Pokemon. Druddigon looked terrified but steeled itself not to let go as the freeze shock collided with its prisoner. And by extension himself. The freeze shock exploded on impact frozen structures similar to lightning. When the light dissipated the ball fell to the floor, its blue circles now looking dim and the maw having fallen to the ground. Druddigon was frozen completely; it looked like an extremely detailed ice sculpture. For a second Donny thought Druddigon was dead but his father simply returned it to its pokeball. "Donatello, you will not under any circumstance tell anyone what you saw here today. But commit the sight to memory, specifically the blue dots. Eyes. Whatever you want to call them if you see them run there are five of its kind including it. Then one above those 5 that is their leader and creator. Those six are possibly the strongest Pokemon on the planet besides unconfirmed existences. though this worry might be for nothing they are legendary Pokemon so it is unlikely you''ll ever meet them." his father said sternly Donny was too shocked to respond, the battle despite its short length was the most incredible thing he''d ever seen. It wasn''t the type of battle that inspired or invigorated, but where most people would have been fearful Donny had been enamored. This was it that was the last piece of the puzzle for him, after being taught his whole life that dragons were the best this is the first time he''d truly seen them in action and it only confirmed what he''d been taught. They were the- "ABSOLUTE BEST! Father, I will meet all of them someday and I''ll battle all of them!" "Boy did you not listen to anything-" "Come on, let''s get back up to the upper levels!" Donny hopped up onto Black Kyurem''s back and it nodded back at his father. This time it was Donatello who reached back and extended an arm to his father. with that they took to the air the ball retreating deep into the cave to rest. It was a quick flight back to the upper levels, right as they were about to exit Donny took a leap from the dragon''s back into a dive with perfect form. With a splash from the displacement of water Donny had officially entered the depths of the Dragon''s Den. So if you couldn''t already tell the dragon ball pokemon was Regidrago I feel like I left enough hints in the chapter for people to guess. The First Friend. ¡°Huuuuh¡± Donny took a deep breath as he came back to the surface of the underground lake he landed in. He looked around as he swam to shore, a group of Frigibax stopped and looked at him before moving on. He took in the cave again from the ground level, still stunning. Before he did anything he looked up at where he¡¯d jumped from, his father gave him a look that was a mix of approval and tiredness, then Kyurem flew off. His first order of business: find a partner dragon and food. As much as he liked to think it, Donny knew this wasn''t all fun and games. Dragons were the most dangerous type of pokemon. It was the most important lesson hammered into his head from birth: they were not to be trifled with; they could and would kill anyone they pleased in an instant. Especially if they felt their pride was hurt. There was a silver lining to this though, dragons value respect above all but their pride. Their respect was earned by beating them in battle of any kind in a fair match. But that was gonna be a challenge for Donny. All he had on a baby dragon was his brain. Even a baby dragon would be faster and stronger than a 10 year old. Y''know also the elemental abilities like ember, dragon rage, roar, etc. yes even a normal type or status move had innate elemental energy. As much as Donny wanted to find a suitable dragon right now he knew he needed food first luckily the problem of finding food wasn''t his concern, his meal was biting his ass very comically right now. ¡°Karp Karp¡± donny pulled the flopping fish that attached itself to him away. While Magikarp were not this big anywhere else in the world they were in this cave; it was the only way they''d survive long enough to reproduce, dragons only ate the biggest ones and waited for others to grow. Donny remembered learning from the cerulean city channel on TV from a red haired girl who surprisingly only looked about his age, too young to be on TV, that Magikarp were 90% scales and the only 10% that wasn''t were their strange lips, tiny brain and eyes. So Donny uncomfortably got to work with a sharp rock on the ground gouging the strange lips from scale, no blood surprisingly. Using more rocks and some sticks from a nearby apple tree, somehow growing in the cave, he made a small fire and began to cook the lips. Then it hit him that he¡¯d been sitting under an apple tree. He slapped himself and climbed the tree to grab an apple. Biting into it, more like failing to, he understood why it was growing down here, Applin. The tiny wyrms needed apples from aptly named Applin trees. The trees were not only extremely resilient like the dragon residents of their apples but also produced apples that most pokemon¡¯s teeth simply were not strong enough to bite through. He tossed the apple and continued waiting for the Magikarp lips to cook. They were awful, the magikarp lips were rubbery, tough and strangely hard, not to mention they didn''t exactly taste any good. Especially to Donatello who had come from the life of a rich kid prior to the cave. But he ate nonetheless, oh and the brain was edible too but see Magikarp scales where too tough for some rocks to break through. Donny had enough dignity to not stoop to the level of trying Magikarp eyes. With his stomach semi filled, Donatello decided to get a move on, with a particularly big stick as some pitiful form of self defense. The first baby dragon he ran into was a Jangmo-o who was with a pack; the leader of said pack seemed to be the Hakamo-o eyeing him warily. Donny corrected himself; he made sure he was standing tall, breathing steadily, and kept his eyes sharp. Talking to a dragon ment there was no room for fear. You spoke clearly and wore your pride. It was a tightrope that you treaded carefully because if you came off arrogant a dragon wouldn¡¯t appreciate that either. ¡°Hakamo-o I was wondering if I could have a quick match with that Jangmo-o. Being a human I dont have the innate strength of a dragon so I believe that match would be a fair one.¡± Hakamo-o stood considering the challenge for a moment before turning to its pre evolution and pushing it forwards. The rest of the pack and a few nearby dragons formed a circle around us. Jangmo-o lunged and Donny barely dodged. Being closer there would be no way to dodge the next lunge, so Donny raised the stick and the little dragon had a mouth full of tree branch. It was quickly burned by an ember, but it left Donny enough time to uppercut the baby causing it to let out a yelp and fall back. Donny pounced on the chance if he let it get back up it would be over. Donny grabbed its tail and swung it into a wall breaking a scale off of its head. The poor baby was too panicked to try and use ember back at its attacker, and after a few more times being slammed against the wall it surrendered. ¡°Jang¡¡± it said, head lowered to Donny. ¡°Good job, honest you had me if you managed to get back up.¡± He patted the small dragon¡¯s head before standing up and walking off. Donatello had done it, he beat a dragon, sure it was a baby but that didn''t matter. Of course the thought of asking it to join him crossed his mind. He couldn¡¯t bear to ask the dragon to leave its pack though, call him soft, but baby dragons were too cute to rip away from their parents. So he continued on his way. This was gonna be his life for the next 6 months. It wasn''t so bad, if you ignore the food.
2 weeks in this hell hole. Donny was tired of it all, sure he¡¯d been getting physically stronger but every single baby, sometimes even juvenile dragons he¡¯d beaten had denied joining him or the leader of their pack didn''t want to lose a member. And Donny couldn''t beat a leader yet! The process of catching Magikarp gouging their lips off and eating them had also gotten to him. IT WASN''T WORTH THE DISGUSTING MEAT. He didn''t have a choice though so he ate them anyway.
Though in this monotony of Donatello¡¯s life perhaps there is someone else you can follow to spice up this story. Jack was a trainer who had made it to the sixth badge before conference entries closed this year he was quite proud of himself, his team some may have considered quite basic in the Kanto region but they were his friends nonetheless. Pigeot, who had been his starter, was his ace. The bird was beautiful and strong. Many times it had taken its trainer on joy rides through the air after he got a flying licence. Growlithe, who had struggled with the fact that it would likely never evolve with how expensive fire stones were, was still a loyal dog. His small size compared to other pokemon at the 6 badge level was sometimes an advantage allowing it to quickly dash between larger enemies attacks. Slowbro despite its response time being less than stellar, the large creature could take 1000 hits and be no worse off than it started. Nidorino though initially caught to make growlithe feel better had become a key part of his team being able to deal heavy damage and tank a reasonable amount. Exeggutor, while there was nothing particularly stand outish about it, it was a consistently strong pokemon and had the capability to teleport its trainer around. Last but not least Hitmonchan the punchy pokemon was always first to protect its trainer from any danger and had clutched more battles than Jack could count. Jack would have given anything to be stuck in this moment though he was only 11 this was the most happy he¡¯d been in his life, surrounded by his team. ¡°We comeback with breaking news for the 8th time this week a trainer has been found dead alongside his pokemon. This seems to have been the final straw for Kanto residents as they riot in the streets of Saffron, Cerulean, Pewter and Viridian. The rioters scream for the Kanto/Johto Minimum Age to Travel and Train Alongside Pocket Monsters to be raised because quote ¡°these children cannot defend themselves even with pokemon.¡± The Indigo League is currently facing more and more pressure by the day to change this law. The trainer in question was named Jackston Oculus the pokemon with him were determined to be Nidorino, Pidgeot, Hitmonchan, Slowbro and Growlithe. Jack also has an Exeggutor registered to his pokedex but authorities assume it managed to get away from whatever happened to the rest of its team and trainer. There is no more information available at this time¡¡±If you encounter this tale on Amazon, note that it''s taken without the author''s consent. Report it. ¡°Oh boy another one I¡¯ve been telling Lance he really should push for the minimum age to be raised. I can''t stand for this anymore. It''ll create more pushback if I stop sponsoring trainers¡¡± An old man said as he watched the screen with a worried look
A month and a half in the cave Donny was really at his wits end for finding a partner. He had to venture into the darker corners of the cave and if that didn''t work he might have to go deeper. As he chewed on more Magikarp lip as he thought back on the past month. ¡°This cave is doing something to me. I don''t know if it''s fighting dragons over and over but my body is changing way too fast. Same with my head." He''d been keeping track of his mindset but it was getting progressively harder by the day, lately he¡¯d been more irate and prideful. Pride was nothing new to him but what he felt now he constantly had to reel back lest it become arrogance. And he was more vicious whenever a dragon beat him. The real part he was concerned about though was he was seeking out stronger opponents. Opponents that were way too strong for him. Next his body he wasn''t complaining, but he was getting way stronger way faster than the human body should have naturally changed from exercise. For now that wasn''t too big of a concern though so he shooed it from his mind because he had found something quite interesting. A Dreepy was flying around in front of him. It looked quite distressed and Donny knew why, its parent Drakloak or Dragapult was nowhere to be seen and these pokemon didn''t leave their parent until they evolved so if one was missing a parent that was out of the ordinary. What was more out of the ordinary though was that the Dreepy flew over and attached itself to the top of his head much like it would a Drakloak. ¡°What in the world? Now why would a little thing like you attach to me where''s your mom or dad?¡± The Dreepy made ghostly, wispy, happy noises at him and snuggled into his hair. ¡°While I do like you, we should probably find your parent.¡± Donny said as he picked up the pace on his walk. Dreepy were known to be impossible to train without a Dragapult or Drakloak around, they were just too curious, hyper and easy to lose. After about an hour of walking it became clear why the Dreepy had been alone. A battle had definitely happened here and not an honor match like Donny had been having with first stage dragons; this had been a fight to the death, and Dragapult was not the winner. The ghostly part of its body had long since faded leaving only its upper body and aerodynamic head. Dreepy made a sad sound as it flew down from Donny¡¯s head, and flew into one of the holders on the Dragapult¡¯s head. ¡°So that''s why you attached to me. I''m sure they went down in glory if you still wanna come along I won''t stop you but I gotta ask you a question. Do you want to battle?¡± The Dreepy flew back out and nodded as fiercely as the cute little ghost could and attached itself back to Donny¡¯s head.
He sat in a meeting room with a plethora of faces, first were his Elite 8, then major news broadcasters, the old men in suits who didn''t even remember what being a pokemon trainer was like and just clung to traditions, but the biggest source of his problems, Professor Oak and Professor Elm. Lance glared and cleared his throat causing the room to quiet down. ¡°Ahem ladies and gentlemen we are here for one reason the crisis of the boycotts and riots in major cities over the minimum age to train pokemon-¡± an older man cut him off ¡°i¡¯d like to-¡± Lance glared again ¡°Mister Wentner perhaps you can shut your mouth until I''m finished speaking you fossil. Anyway the main source of our problems comes from 2 more fossils in this very room Oak and Elm, now I''m going to stop talking and give you imbeciles a chance to explain yourselves.¡± Oak spoke up ¡°In an effort to move this meeting along ill excuse your rudeness lance, for myself I made my decision because I agree with the masses though I went through my life as a trainer at 10 years old like many in this room I believe it''s incredibly dangerous and unsafe to send children that young into the world and for that reason I¡¯ve stopped sponsoring trainers that I haven''t already sponsored.¡± ¡°I agree with Doctor Oak on this one Mr. Champion. I can''t in good faith reward children for going out into an incredibly dangerous world and possibly dying any longer.¡± Elm said shakily ¡°YOU THINK I CARE ABOUT YOUR PEACE OF MIND ON THIS! Professors I don''t think you understand that you will go down with the ship. People have stopped sending their kids out into the region due to your actions. We are losing money. YOU are losing money. The indigo league won''t even last the next 4 and a half months till gyms and conference sign ups open at this rate. If that happens children dying won''t be the only problem, all of Kanto/Johto becoming no better than Orre will be.¡± Lance expected this to at least get them on edge or rile up other attendees but nothing aside from the old men but their opinions don''t mean much. Lorelei spoke up first ¡°lance this meeting is pointless everyone besides you and as you said the ¡°fossils¡± are in agreement here this law has stood unchallenged too long we will raise the legal age whether you want it or not we are still willing to compromise though 15 years old is the lowest we will go.¡± ¡°It does not seem as though I have a choice in the matter, 15 years old it is.¡±
3 months in. ¡°Dreepy, use astonish and combo into dragon rage!¡± Dreepy quickly spooked the Noibat and released the energy of dragon rage into its face but Noibat was quick to respond with a supersonic and sonicboom, but Dreepy was able to sucker punch it before it could fire off anything else and took it out. ¡°Good job little buddy, let''s take a break.¡± Donny walked and talked as he headed back towards the lake of Magikarp, Dreepy already back on his head. With Dreepy¡¯s help wrangling in a Magikarp was easy plus while Donny ate the cooked lips Dreepy ate the scales, which are still nutritious just inedible for humans, Dreepy didn''t actually need to eat right now though while not truly a ghost he was still mostly ghost so he could go for a few years without any food or water. ¡°Alright let''s get back to training. We need to be as strong as possible when we get out of here because we are going to a different region with more dragons, not many dragons in Kanto.¡±
¡°The law has officially been passed, children can no longer become trainers without being at least 15 years old, more at 10.¡± Oak smiled happily at his screen as the news reporter spoke, it was done and the economical damage from the first month had been healing since it was released to the general public that a change was in the works. His grandson had nagged him about it the past month and a half saying Oak betrayed him and His birthday was ruined. Ash ketchum sat in the living room with his mom, he was whining about the new information. How was he supposed to wait five more years? That would take too long, especially because Pichu was so excited. Was Oak going to take him back now because Ash couldn''t travel with him? Finally Home Donny couldn''t catch a break, almost as much as he couldn''t catch a dragon before Dreepy. For some insane reason he convinced himself to challenge the Hakamo-o, and Dreepy didn''t stop him. As he lay on the floor he thought back on the one sided fight it was over quickly and painfully. First oft charged Donny, who had barely dodged it by the time he got up Hakamo-o was already tackling him. Donny had his ass kicked by plenty of dragons in the last three months though so he got up. Hakamo-o punched him in the gut so hard Donny understood why the species wasn''t pure dragon type like the Haxorus line. That was the end of that fight and the end of Donatello''s thinking on it, he just felt so weak and humbled afterwards. Humbled because it had been a while since he lost to a baby dragon and Dreepy hasn''t lost a battle since they partnered up, so a loss after so long of winning was humbling for him. This told him he hated being weak, sure he was reasonable enough to know that no human was as strong as even a mid stage dragon, but he felt like he could''ve at least gotten a hit in. "Dreep? Dreepy?" Dreepy was hovering over his face inspecting him "I''m alright it''s nothing new." Donatello finally got up "Next time I have a stupid idea like that stop me, even the most skilled human fighter in the world wouldn''t win against a mid stage dragon type I don''t know what I was thinking." Donny decided to get back to training with Dreepy. Today''s training consisted of flying at top speed for as long as possible which on average for Dreepy would be 350-370 mph (563-595 km/h) already 20 miles faster than the fastest car. Donny had been incorporating this speed training more and more lately, because Dragapult were fast, everyone knew it so now one really bothers training its speed because it is already super fast. Donny of course knew this, most Dragapult maxed out at Mach 1.2-2.5, but Donny really likes speed so he wanted to see how far he could push it. Besides his strategy was there it was simple really, it doesn''t matter how frail you are if you never get hit. The only reason Dreepy ever got hit in battles with other dragons was because Donny was telling it to hold back on speed. Donny had the strat, which involved Dreepy reaching top speed and ramming into the opponent. Consequently this also usually knocked Dreepy out. So endurance even if only a little still needed to be built up. A few days of the same repetitive cycle of Dreepy training, sparing with dragon, Dreepy training Was killing Donny slowly, if he was anything it sure as hell wasn''t patient. He could tell it was getting to Dreepy too and the last thing he needed was a Pokemon demotivated from training. "Dreepy let''s take a break you and I both know this is mind numbing, so I have an idea. When we leave this cave in 3 months we are gonna, more like I am, but I''m not just gonna be carried out I have to climb and I don''t know about you but I don''t think I''ll magically be able to do that in three months with no experience so that''s what we''re doing for the rest of the day." Donatello figured he might as well do something productive and what better than rock climbing, with no safety gear. He was really regretting jumping off Black Kyurem if only he wasn''t so impatient he would''ve had a pokeball for this ghost that was filled with 99.9% curiosity and 0.1% attention span, rock climbing gear, proper clothing, and a water bottle. Now a water bottle might not sound like a crazy useful item but his whole day consisted of training and stopping Dreepy from getting him killed or wandering to far, which is hard when it''s top speed is faster than the fastest car, so that meant every time he needed to drink water he had to walk all the back to the lake take a drink then get to wherever he was going. Inconvenient was an understatement. Donny was taken out of these thoughts as Dreepy hissed, alerting him that he was at the entrance to the cave. Donny looked up like straight up it was quite tall, Dreepy shot off his head up to the top. Donny immediately began climbing. "Dreepy! Don''t you dare leave this cave! I can''t follow you out even if I manage to climb up there." The little dragon stayed up there taunting him, faking leaving the cave then coming back a minute later or just laughing at him. Donny tried as hard as he could but he just couldn''t make it very far up. He was in an uncomfortable spot too high to just let go and land back on the ground, and not confident enough that he could climb down with how tired he was. Dreepy flew down to him looking ever so very slightly concerned and landed right on his head pulling on his hair. "Your pull strength is nonexistent bud, you can''t carry me down, but thanks though." Donny just decided to climb down as far as he could before dropping and hoping his legs wouldn''t hurt too bad. He climbed down about ten rocks. "Fuck it." He landed and let out a weird grunt sigh thing before falling on his ass while Dreepy hysterically laughed. His legs were not broken, but the fall hurt damn it! So he lied there for a while while Dreepy sat on his chest. It was calm actually, until Donny got scared half to death and slammed his head directly into a Bagon''s forehead who had suddenly walked up and sniffed him. Bagon just looked at him quizzically. The slam didn''t hurt it at all because its head was so strong from jumping off cliffs. Donny however, had a giant red spot on his forehead, and was holding back tears. This threw Dreepy back into laughter before it got in between its trainer and the Bagon. "Hey Bagon, would you like to battle Dreepy and I?" The Bagon took a few steps back and nodded. "3¡ 2¡ 1! Alright, Dreepy use Quick Attack, And sucker punch when you''re close!" Bagon was way too slow to dodge despite trying and took a Quick Attack from Dreepy but Sucker Punch didn''t activate because Bagon didn''t attack, it roared and then it used Dragon Rage. Dreepy cried out as the blue flames rolled over its serpentine form, but ferociously tried Sucker Punch again hitting Bagon in the gut. Bagon, still undeterred, used Dragon Rage again, but Dreepy had learned and it sped backward. "That hurt right buddy, we''ll have to make sure it doesn''t happen again. Use your own Dragon Rage!" Bagon met Dragon Rage with Dragon Rage and they canceled each other out. Donny noticed how it was spamming the attacks and decided why do the work himself might as well make it hit itself. "Dreepy up close again with Quick Attack! Then tackle it in the stomach repeatedly!" Once again Bagon couldn''t avoid it even if Dreepy wasn''t at top speed. Dreepy got to work tackling Bagon as if it picked up on Donny''s plan. The Bagon, seeing as the little dragon wasn''t backing away, took in a big huff of air blue flame building in its mouth. "Ba¡ Gon!" As Bagon shot down at its stomach the dragon attacking it was gone. It seared its own stomach leaving a sizzling dark patch on its scales and whined before Dreepy uppercut it with a Sucker Punch knocking it out. "Made us work for that one huh bud, catch." Donny tossed Dreepy an Applin apple and he happily munched it down. Donny also left one for the Bagon before he walked away with Dreepy contently on his head. "Next time we battle I''m gonna let you go ahead on your own little guy, I''m not always gonna know best in battle sometimes you being the one fighting will know a better move then I will. Now let''s go eat." 1 month later Donny started to notice Dreepy was getting a big head for battles. He sort of feared this moment because for the sake of getting stronger he couldn''t let Dreepy keep beating down on first stage dragons that he was way stronger than by this point. But if he moved up to mid stage Dragons Dreepy would start getting destroyed, and Donny didn''t want his little guy to get demoralized. Donny took a deep breath and tossed the rest of his Magikarp lip. "Hey Dreepy you''re pretty confident you could beat any first stage dragon that challenges you with or without me commanding you right?" "Dree!" "Yeah I agree with you so I was thinkin about us challenging some mid stage dragons beating down on babies isn''t very fun right?" "Dre? Dreepy!" "These mid stage dragons are real strong though as you''ve seen I''ve had my ass handed to me more times than I could count and only held my own for a little bit against that Fraxure last week¡ listen I''m not gonna beat around the bush anymore don''t expect to win for a while bud they are strong they probably have around two years of experience to have evolved, you were born what 5 or 6 months ago they are in a different league." Dreepy listened to his trainer-dad''s words. He liked that there was minimal build up to news like that, but it hurt his pride, he would see this strength for himself in a match. But he trusted his trainer-dad so he kept what was said in mind.If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation. Donny got up and stretched "Well the best teacher is experience so let''s go find a mid stage dragon and challenge it to a battle see how well ya do." It didn''t take long to find a mid stage dragon. Zweilous stood before them having agreed to battle the little dragon. "Dreepy, Quick Attack" Dreepy shot towards Zweilous and made a direct shot in the left head. Zweilous was unfazed by the hit. It looked like slamming into it just disoriented Dreepy. Zweilous bit down with crunch and Dreepy didn''t get back up. "One hit¡ I-I didn''t expect that." Donny walked over to Dreepy and scooped up the unconscious dragon. A whole day passed before Dreepy woke up and Donny was worried sick. Even after the poor dragon woke up it seemed the crunch had affected Dreepy''s ghost type energy so much it was struggling to float. That meant the day was quite peaceful; the two mostly slept under the Applin tree while Dreepy recovered. "Gah¡! Ow!" An apple fell on Donatello''s head as he slept followed by a small wyrm who munched its way into the apple and got comfortable. "App! Lin!" Donny made note that the apple that the Applin chose to inhabit was green. Dreepy, who was sleeping in the crook of Donny''s neck, looked down at the apple core pokemon from its perch. "Dreep. Dreepy!" Dreepy looked offended and growled at the apple Donny looked on in confusion as the 2 pokemon argued in their tongue. The argument ended as Applin used rollout to trip Donny causing Dreepy to shakily fly at it. "What''s even happening?" Donny went unanswered. Dreepy Couldn''t believe this weak newly born wyrm was insulting him and his trainer-dad, blasphemy! He''d show this brat even if he was hurt he could beat an apple, he already ate lots of those apples. Rollout met shaky Quick Attack and Quick Attack won easily. Applin chose their apples right after birth so this Applin had to be very new to life even the most picky of the species took a day max. That meant it was not very experienced in battle. "Hey hey Dreepy I don''t know what it said but it''s a baby don''t hurt it!" Applin said something Donny guessed was along the lines of ''yeah, listen to your dad'' even though it clearly would''ve lost. Now that he''d thought about it, this was the first time he''d seen an Applin in the cave even though he spent a whole lot of time near the Applin tree. That couldn''t have been good so Donny had an idea to make sure this one didn''t go mysteriously missing. "Hey Applin, such a strong powerful dragon like you would want to show the world how powerful you are, right?" "App! Appl in!" It did an Applin version of flexing. "Well Dreepy and I are going to travel around a whole lot and battle powerful Pokemon soon in 2 months. Would you like to come along with us?" Applin pretended to consider its options even though it didn''t really have anything else to do and Donny had intrigued it. "Applin!" Applin did an ''I guess I''ll tag along'' tone and rolled closer. "Dreepy¡" Dreepy turned away not acknowledging the apple core Pokemon. Donny knelt down and held out a hand to the apple. It hopped up his arm and onto his head. Donny only had time to think ''fuck'' before the little apple got sent flying by a very angry Dreepy. "Yeah I probably should''ve warned him about that." That wasn''t the first time something like that happened. One time a Noibat landed on Donny''s head and Dreepy rushed it, knocking it out before it could even react. His head was Dreepy''s spot And Dreepy didn''t want anything else there. Straw hat, ripped up. Random leaf, blown away. Applin, sent flying into a boulder. He walked over to the Applin. "Sorry but my head is Dreepy''s spot anywhere else is fair game I think." Donny picked him up and he couldn''t settle on a spot besides his head so he decided to roll around. "Alright Dreepy help me out here let''s walk Applin through how we train it won''t be the exact same but a general frame of what''ll happen is nice. So Applin we usually start the week with speed training on Sunday." Dreepy flies around quickly though noticeably slower than usual to Donny after Zweilous. "Next up is Monday which is move mastery. Basically, get used to what you already know how to do and maybe learn a way to do it differently." Dreepy uses Sucker Punch and transfers the energy to his tail instead of nubby hands. "Tuesday is more speed training. Wednesday is endurance training." Dreepy rams into a nearby rock a few times. "Thursday more speed training. Friday is strength training." Dreepy slams its tail into a moderately sized rock smashing it "and today is you guessed it speed training though you''re probably not going to have as much speed training as Dreepy but for now you''ll go along with him while I think up something proper for you." Applin fell into training surprisingly well. It seemed to like competing with Dreepy to get better results which was honestly amazing. It meant both sides pushed each other to train harder. And a month later it was time for Applin''s first real battle. It had a few mock battles before this but nothing proper. Its opponent was Goomy. Donny decided not to tell Applin Goomy were considered the weakest of all dragons. "Alright Applin rollout, remember accuracy over power, keep control of yourself!" Goomy shot a water gun at Applin trying to slow it down "Applin jump hit its horns!" Applin didn''t listen, it growled and continued forward only to harmlessly roll into the Goomy and slip to the side because of Goomy''s slimy membrane combined with being wet from the water gun. "Bud we gotta work together with this. Goomy is too slimy to be hit by a starting rollout. But its horns are sensitive even if you slip off of them it''ll still be frozen for a sec." Dreepy shook its head at its teammate''s showing. Applin growled again and tried rollout again to no avail and was punished by dragon''s breath from Goomy. Applin still refused to listen and Dreepy just dragged it back to Donny''s side. "Dreepy is right you know you would''ve lost battling independently is one thing and I''m fine with that but blatantly ignoring advice isn''t a show of pride it''s just stupid. Look at Dreepy, he doesn''t need any suggestions to beat Goomy because he understands what I said and is battling with the knowledge that physical attacks won''t mean much unless they hit critical spots." Applin watched with amazement in his eyes and looked up at Donny with big eyes. "You''ll have another try soon Dreepy is to strong for the base stage dragons around here" And another chance he did have this time an Axew "Start up rollout Applin, aim to break its tusks." "App!" It rolled enthusiastically towards the charging Axew they met and Axew won out but Applin kept rolling "throw in a withdraw to make rollout hit harder." Applin used withdraw while rolling back for round 2 with Axew who tried to bite down on him this time did in fact break a tusk. Applin kept rolling and both of them crashed in a heap but Applin had definitely won. Applin began to clean its green apple as it hopped over to Donny who praised it on the win. Even Dreepy seemed to mumble a congratulatory growl.
1 month later Donny stood at the entrance looking up at the wall he had to climb. Applin was on his shoulder and even Dreepy decided to stay with him and not shoot to the top. "You''d think I''d be happier to leave this place but honestly I liked it. I won''t miss it but I enjoyed the majority of my time here. What about you two ready to see the world for the first time?" "Appl¡ Applin." "Dreepy Dree." "Then I''d better get to climbing." Donny grabbed rock and climbed quickly. It had been familiar to him after so much practice he''d never gotten high enough to see outside just for this moment the climb out and see the sun for the first time in 6 months. He couldn''t help but climb faster and faster within 2 minutes he was already half way up. And finally after 5 minutes of climbing he was at the top shielding his eyes from the harsh sun and looking out over the mountain. "It''s¡ it''s been so damn long." Dreepy was already zipping around curiously looking at everything. Applin stayed near Donny seemingly having been overwhelmed by it all. Doony squinted his eyes and could see his home in the distance. With Applin back on his shoulder and Dreepy secured on his head and began to run down the clearing towards his house. Donnatello looked like a crazy man screaming happily as he ran down the incline. He managed to keep speed for 10 whole minutes before slowing down as he got closer to home. It had been so long he wanted to properly shower, see his siblings, and see his father. As he reached the big gates he didn''t wait for them to open he climbed right over them. He spent minimal time waving to all the guard dragons before bursting into the house. Maids were startled and froze and turned towards the door butlers instinctively grabbed their pokeballs. "I''M. HOOOOOOME." Before any maids could greet him he bolted straight towards his father''s private quarters. He wanted to burst in but he knew better and knocked 3 times. "Enter." The door creaked as Donny pushed it open and faced his father. "Donnatello welcome home." Camp His father spoke up ready to inform Donatello on what he''d missed in the past 6 months. "Donny, I regret to inform you that in the time that you were gone laws have changed and you may not go on a Pokemon journey in Kanto/Johto until you reach 15 years old." Donny stared at his father for a second, not fully processing his words before it clicked. "Father, you can''t be serious right no way." His father looked sternly at him. "You think I would lie to you son? The controversy surrounding this has been 5 years in the making. The anger of the people of Kanto/Johto at their inadequate children has been boiling for decades longer. For all of our reach we cannot stop the force of the people no one it is illegal for you to go on a journey I suggest you stop in at Professor Oak''s summer camp. It''ll start up soon, tomorrow actually." Donny almost looked offended at the remark "Father! You think I need some training camp! I survived alone in the Dragon''s Den!" His father shook his head "it''s not that I believe you need to learn more about Pokemon, it''s that I believe you need to meet people your age and learn some social skills, boy." Donny pouted "For what we live in the silver mountains I''ll probably never see anyone there for the next 5 years at least!" His father gave him a stern look "Do not argue with me on this boy I know that it will do you well." Donny scowled at him "It''s not about that father!" His voice grew quieter "I don''t want to just leave again I just got back and you''re already shooing me away I missed you and everyone else that''s still here" His father had never been the emotional type so he didn''t understand his son''s feelings "I believe tha-" "Forget it father I''ll go to the damn summer camp it''ll last till September right so three months." Donny stomped out of the room without sparring the man a final glance. Dreepy and Applin glared back as Donny walked. He stopped by all of his remaining siblings'' rooms; only the younger ones were left, the older ones had left on journey''s before the change in laws. Then he stopped at his room and showered before beginning to pack for the stupid summer camp. He had calmed down from his talk with his dad between his hyper happy younger siblings and his pokemon playing as he packed, but that didn''t mean he wasn''t mad at the old man. It was just infuriating that he was being sent away for three more months after not interacting with his family for 6 months. "Maid! Butler! Someone!" He yelled as he had remembered something important he''d forgotten to do when he got home. A maid quickly arrived at his room "Welcome home master Donatello what is it that you need." Donny looked her up and down, she was new he''d memorized all of the maids and butlers long ago. "Bring me a park ball and a luxury ball please and thank you." The maid bowed to him "I will retrieve the luxury ball right away but you will need clearance from sir Draco for a park ball master Donatello." Donny let out an annoyed huff "Yeah that tracks thanks anyway bring the luxury ball to my father''s quarters that''s where I''ll be anyway. Dreepy, Applin, let''s go!" He made his way back towards his father''s office and knocked before being told to enter "I need a park ball father." "Granted." One of the personal maids in his father''s room quickly retrieved a park ball and gave it to him in time for the luxury ball to arrive as well "Alright you two ready to make this thing official?" "Dreep!" "Appl!" The park ball touched the Applin''s apple and the luxury ball bounced off Dreepy both were officially Donny''s Pokemon. He quickly sent both out again. "Alright let''s go, and uh father I''m ready to go at any time." With that he left again and a smile grew on his face, he licked his lips. He sprinted faster than he ever had towards the dining hall. He stopped as he entered and locked on to the pantry door. "Forget food, it''s been so long since I''ve had anything sweet!" The first thing he grabbed from the freezer was chocolate then he went to the shelves for cookies. Chips, cakes, fruit, but not candy he strongly disliked candy chocolate was its own thing according to him. He gorged himself on the snacks with his Pokemon for a while before he was satisfied (and sick). Tomorrow came quicker than Donny liked and just as quickly he was in front of Oaks lab with a bunch of brats that probably never even had their own Pokemon. The ones he noticed in the bunch were the ones that stuck out. One had black hair with red streaks, tan skin, and big blue eyes. He was being a smartass and showing off for the girl attached to him like he was some king. She had maroon hair, light skin and green eyes. She didn''t stand out at all; she was just attached to red hair. One had jet black hair, lighter tan skin, reddish brown eyes, and weird Z lookin marks on his cheeks. He had a pichu with him. Another had brown hair, light skin and black eyes. God was he a snarky bastard just because Oak was his grandpa. Finally a girl with honey blonde hair, light skin and blue eyes. She had a thick kalosian accent. Everyone else just looked like random brats. Donny was sure he stood out though Dark skin, black hair, bright purple eyes, and he had Dreepy on his head, Applin was in its pokeball. "Hello class, welcome to my Pokemon summer camp. Some of you may know me as Samuel or Prof Oak and others may have just learned that. Anyway, for the next 3 months you will all live in a camp and I will teach you more about Pokemon in nature with hands-on experience¡" Donny stopped listening, he didn''t care anymore. Even his dad said he didn''t need this, he was just here for ''social skills'' or whatever. After the old man finished his little speech everyone said their goodbyes to their parents with dramatics and hugs while Donny had just said bye and ran off towards the kid with a Pichu. "Hey you! Let''s battle now!" Donny had whatever the opposite of a way with words was he demanded a battle it wasn''t an offer. "O-Okay my name is Ash by the way this is Pichu" Donny looked up at Dreepy before shaking his head "Sorry Dreepy this one''s gonna go to Applin you''re too strong. Oh yeah, my name''s Donatello. You can call me Donny if you earn my respect." They took position away from each other but Oak stopped them "Now now I''m sure your both excited but it wouldn''t be safe for me to let chil-" he was cut off by the commanding tone of Donatello''s father "My boy won''t let it get out of control Professor let it happen." Much like his son the man issued a command to Oak not a suggestion. "Well¡ okay if you say so sir¡" the old man replied shakily. Red hair walked up in between them "this will be a one on one battle against uhm¡ What are your names?" Goh had overlooked asking the others their names "Ash Ketchum" "Donatello Draco" Goh cleared his throat and spoke up again "this will be a battle between Ash Ketchum and Donatello Draco! 3¡ 2¡ 1¡ Battle Begin!" "Applin go!" "Pichu go!" Applin took the field with its best roar (more of a squeak). Though the Pichu did the same so it wasn''t too embarrassing. "Applin astonish then rollout!" "Pichu attack, attack! Hit it!" The crowd of kids and parents realized Ash had no idea what he was doing. Applin spooked the Pichu and rolled at it quickly while Pichu tried to shock it to no reaction from the very resistant Apple, Pichu was knocked out from one rollout. "That was boring, you suck its like that was your first battle." Donny spat bluntly as kids tended to do. "Oh no Pichu!" Ash said as he ran up to the little mouse scooping it up "Wow your Applin is really strong and you said Dreepy is too strong I wonder how powerful it is!" Donny brushed him off blushing slightly; he never really got compliments in his family; it wasn''t that they weren''t proud, just never expressed it with such passion. "Y-Yeah well it was nothing Applin did all the real work." Oak clapped, getting everyone''s attention "Now that we''ve all said goodbye and watched a fun battle let us start walking towards camp we wouldn''t want to be late would we." And so they began hiking towards the camp. It was pretty quick, maybe 15 minutes. Donny however refused to stay with the pack; he constantly went off trail to the point where Oak ended up holding his hand only to be bitten by Dreepy so he could run off again. His adventurous escapades seemed to inspire the referee from his battle to do the same thing the girl was sure to follow. They got lost but luckily before Oak even had to get a Pokemon to search Dreepy already zipped around the area and found them. But when they did reach the camp Oak showed them around there was some staff getting prepared but other than that it was pretty empty. "¡26 27 28 29 30 so that will be 5 per cabin oh dear I''ll have to get some sleeping bags for the fifth in each cabin¡ Anyway children while we are here you''ll all be assigned 1 of six cabins: Charmander, Bulbasuar, Squirtle, Pikachu, Eevee, or Dratini. They are where you will keep your stuff and sleep. Now let''s split you up into cabins¡" Donny ended up in a cabin with Goh, Serena, Joey, and due to a lot of begging on her part Chloe honestly he wouldn''t have been surprised if she ended up sleeping in the same bed as Goh she clung to him like a moth to a street lamp. The group had exchanged names on the way to their cabin; they got Charmander cabin. As they walked inside they noticed the problem 2 bunk beds 1 sleeping bag they all immediately tried to claim a bed until Donny screeched. "HELL NO! I spent the last six months sleeping on hard rock! I''ll die before sleeping on the floor again one of you idiots better move!" Serena and Chloe jumped a bit at his outburst and Serena spoke up. "Uhm why were you sleeping on rock, did your parents make you?" Donny lost a bit of intimidation as he tried to come up with an explanation that didn''t get his family investigated " well no I uh¡ I WANTED TO SLEEP OUTSIDE OK! JUST GIVE ME A DAMN BED!" He turned to Chloe "Why don''t you sleep with your boyfriend or whatever and give me your bed." Goh perked up next "Hey! She''s not my girlfriend but she''s my friend and I''m not gonna let you take her bed!" He jumped as Dreepy snapped at him "Oh yeah then fight me for it!" "I guess I will!" Donny lunged at him and picked him up with great struggle before slamming him on a bed. "I''ve been fighting dragons for the last six months. This is light work!" He began to rain down punches on Goh before Goh started crying "Wah! Stop it you win you win I''ll give you my bed don''t take Chloe''s!" Donny stopped the second he surrendered. It wasn''t honorable to beat on an opponent who already gave up. "Forget it, stealing from the weak isn''t very honorable, keep your stupid bed. I should''ve been faster to claim one." Chloe looked at him with a bit of fear "Why''d you do that then¡" Donatello looked up at the dragon on his head "Dreepy pick a spot for my sleeping bag." As Dreepy shot off his head he released Applin from its pokeball "Hey Applin we''re gonna be sleeping here go decide on a spot with Dreepy." As the two Pokemon began to argue over what spot was better Serena and Joey walked up to Donatello. Joey spoke first "Hey Donatello you kept saying you''ve been outside and fighting Pokemon for the last 6 months what''s that all about." Donny, completely forgetting his earlier reluctance, said "I guess I''ll best- best¡ Bestow my story upon you." And excitedly told them about his time in the Dragon''s Den being sure to leave out a lot of the times he got laid out by a dragon. "¡And that was when Dreepy rammed into it super fast." He was cut off however as Oak, with a group already behind him, came into the cabin to collect them for dinner. So he collected his fighting dragons and quickly left with the rest of his cabin. Oak gathered the group to eat around a campfire which everyone seemed to enjoy. The dinner was pretty good, nothing special but anything was better than Magikarp lips so he ate greedily nonetheless. But when The professor pulled out s''more ingredients he couldn''t hold back a smile of glee, he couldn''t remember the last time he''d had such a delicious treat nothing could compare to s''mores for him. As he finished making it he did his best to break it three ways to share with Dreepy and Applin, but Applin only took a single bite. So he tried to grab it but Dreepy snatched it away using its incredible speed. He even managed to nab the last marshmallow, which he shared with his friends Serena and Joey this time since he wanted to train before bed and making another s''more would take too long for him. He left to train, managing to escape without Oak noticing. It was light training as the wild Pokemon around here were significantly weaker than in the cave and his Pokemon weren''t exactly known for the amount of moves they could learn. "There you are, Joey and I were wondering where you ran off too." Donny jumped at Serena''s voice. How hadn''t he noticed her? "Well if I''m gonna be a great trainer I gotta train, but I''m done for now if you''re gone too the old man is going to notice us being missing let''s go." Serena nodded and began to follow him back "hey Donny- Donatello how do you know the way back so easily." "No you can call me Donny, I know how to get back mostly because I remembered which way I went but also Dreepy has a pretty good sense of smell or somthin." Donatello didn''t even think as he explained himself he was mindlessly following his arrow shaped Pokemon. "But if you don''t know the way, how''d you find me? Did you just wander around outside of camp?" "Yup." "Serena, that''s super dangerous without a Pokemon! One Beedrill or Pinser and you could be seriously hurt!" She rolled her eyes "I''m fine though." "Fair enough. Look, we''re back." As they got back it seemed dinner was finishing up and oak was bidding the campers goodnight and sending them back to their cabins. When Serena and Donny arrived at the cabin Joey was nowhere to be seen while Goh and Chloe were reading a book about fire type Pokemon. Goh looked up at the pair "well look who finally decided to show up! I hope you two told Professor Oak your back he might still be out searching for you. We all had to go back to our cabins early when Joey noticed Serena was missing!" Donny grimaced. "Dreepy think you''re fast enough to find Oak and Joey within let''s say 2 minutes?" "Dreep! Dreepy!" Donny had to challenge the little dragon to do it otherwise it wouldn''t consider it a worthwhile thing to do. Kind of like saying ''I bet you can''t do it''. With Dreepy''s speed the crisis was averted however, Oak could connect the dots when Dreepy pointed towards camp and Joey was dragged back to the cabin by Dreepy (more like Dreepy tried to drag him and Joey walked at a brisk pace). "So what were you guys doing all alone in the woods?" Goh said as he nudged Donny in the side, causing Serena to blush. "It wasn''t like that red! I was training and she followed me so I walked her back that''s all. What was all that defending Chloe about earlier huh!" He tried to deflect the topic but it didn''t really work and Donny was truly embarrassed for the first time. When Goh pushed his luck a bit too far Donny shoved him onto the bed and wrapped him tightly in blankets constricting him. Eventually the cabin grew tired and Donny unfurled the provided sleeping bag as everyone got into bed.The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings. Bright and early the next day Oak had the Campers hiking through the forest as he lectured on Pokemon that could be found in forests. Today he had an Arcanine following the group like they were sheep. Anytime a child wandered just a bit too far, Donny was a regular for it within an hour. With Chloe and Goh''s help they managed to give the big dog the slip by running in different directions. Unfortunately for Donny, Arcanine decided to nab him first. 5 minutes later Goh and Chloe were back. Chloe looked shaken while Goh looked like he had a purpose now, something to strive for. Donny, Serena and Joey ran up to them as they got back. "What did you two see?" Goh exploded with passion as he spoke "We saw this small pink Pokemon and it was fighting a super cool looking Nidoking! and the pink Pokemon had all sorts of powerful moves it was winning against the Nidoking! Then it transformed into other Pokemon to take it out! But after that it saw Chloe and I then teleported away." The rest of the hike he continued to talk about it over and over like a broken record. Donny would''ve been interested if it wasn''t small and pink that sounded like a fairy type! He was to be a dragon master. "Shut it red no one cares about your little fairy type! It would''ve been cool if it was a big strong dragon!" Goh was about to retort but instead took on a quizzical look "Why do you call me red?" "Well you always wear red and the red streaks in your hair." Donny replied as if it was self-evident. "Well whatever the Pokemon was super strong while being cute, best of both worlds why wouldn''t you be interested!?" Donny deadpanned at Goh''s words "Take a look at my head and shoulder and think real hard on why I''m not into fairies red." Goh looked for a good second before realizing. "Oh you have two dragon types, why is that by the way? most of us don''t even have a Pokemon while you have two dragon types, those are supposed to be super duper hard to train." "Why else I''ve always been around dragons plus they have to be the strongest type!" Joey chimed in "Well ironically enough fairies are considered better competitively not to say that dragons are bad." Donny glared at him "Shut it Joey, you know how many champions have won their championship matches just because their emotions were peaking and causing the bond phenomenon to increase their Pok¨¦mon''s endurance, power and agility. Competitive viability doesn''t matter in the face of the power of friendship according to Pokemon." Chloe spoke up a bit shocked "That''s the smartest thing I''ve heard you say normally your ranting about dragons or training like it''s all you do. Also why don''t you let anyone but Serena call you Donny, Donatello is a mouthful." "You want to fight Chloe! It''s not only Serena, like that Ashton kid I let him call me Donny he and his Pichu are really willful, the never give up type. You however don''t get too because you haven''t done anything to prove your worth remembering." Donny replied in a snarky tone Professor Oak turned to the class following him "Now everyone we are here take a good look we will have lunch here and make our way back to camp." They were at the top of a small mountain; it couldn''t even be called that more like an above average hill. Right as everyone sat down for lunch Oak stopped them again. "Pop quiz kids who can tell me how many Pokemon we met in the forest." Gary raised his hand immediately and answered 26, he was right of course and was rewarded a bag of chips. As Dreepy went to take an obligatory bite out of Donny''s sandwich he snatched it away. "Go hunt your a dragon, I''ll have some for you when you get back!" And so off the dragon went. Goh and Serena simultaneously spoke up. "How do you get him to listen so well?" Donny thought about it for a second. He really had it easy with his dragons so far first a young Dreepy then a newborn Applin. "Well Dreepy lost its parent Dragapult when I found it and attached to me and Applin literally fell on my head when it was newborn so I guess I''ve had it pretty easy." "Aw so they both see you as their dad, that''s so cute!" Serena said excitedly "Well I don''t know about Applin but I''m pretty sure Dreepy does." They couldn''t ask Applin as it was currently rolling around with Ash''s Pichu. Their lunch continued peacefully and the hike back wasn''t anything special either by the time they made it back it was nighttime. Dinner passed and everyone went to sleep. That''s how the summer camp continued for a while. Oak would do an activity to teach everyone more about Pokemon. It had been about 2 and a half months since the camp started, over time from activities almost everyone had been given a pokeball by the professor. Meaning people caught Pokemon and in turn were allowed to travel in groups around the campgrounds outskirts. Serena, Donny, Chloe and Goh were supposed to be one of the groups today Joey was too busy playing with his newly caught Rattata. "Everyone ready? Remember Oak told us to be back in 3 hours because it''s gonna rain." Serena said warningly. "We''re gonna be back so don''t worry about it Serena besides the only people we gotta worry about are those two." Donny pointed. "Why us I''m not gonna get Chloe lost!" "Red you are going to go searching for Mew aren''t you? I''m not worried about you getting lost. I just know you''re going to get caught in the rain because you want to keep looking." Goh denied it vehemently but everyone knew that''s exactly what he was going to do and Chloe never stopped him from stuff like this. "Anyway let''s go Serena you gotta help me find a special Pokemon in the forest I think they can be found here!" Donny practically dragged Serena into the forest with Chloe and Goh running to keep up "Wait up Donatello what Pokemon are you looking for!" Goh yelled as he chased after them "It''s a secret today red!" "I bet you told Serena" Donny threw a rock at him "I didn''t!" "Whatever Chloe and I are done chasing you we gotta go look for Mew!" With that both groups split up. Donny and Serena slowed to a walk. "Donny, why won''t you tell us what you''re looking for?" "It''ll ruin the surprise, besides I don''t want to get my hopes up. They are pretty rare and if we find one we''ll have to go back to Oak immediately with it since apparently you need permits for them because they are endangered." Donny was comfortable telling her that because she wasn''t as quick to connect the dots even if it was a Pokemon that she liked they were going after. "So Serena, do you even plan to catch anything here?" "Well maybe but I don''t like bug types and Rattata are Joey''s thing." "Hmmm¡ Well what about dragon types you''ve seen my team and I, what do you think of us!" Serena took a moment to think before answering "Well Applin and Dreepy are really cute. And powerful. But when they evolve they become scary and fearsome right? I wouldn''t want to be scared of my own partners. So dragons aren''t really my type either." "Hmmmm." Serena finally noticed his thinking after every time she spoke "What are you thinking about Donny?" "Part of the secret Pokemon. But more importantly if you want cute and strong as much as I hate to admit it fairy types are for you." He certainly didn''t look like he hated to admit it in fact when she nodded he smiled. Maybe it was instinct from the cave or maybe it was the feeling of something bad about to happen but Donny stopped moving forward and told Serena to as well. A moment later a Pinser crashed into a tree and a Scyther flew after it. "Serena run away!" But Scyther seeing its opponent knocked out easily caught up to the kids. "Dreepy Quick Attack! Serena keep running. I''ll catch up to you, find Goh and Chloe or Ashton''s group!" And Serena did just that she kept running. Dreepy slammed into the Scyther and growled. "Applin come out and fight!" He threw Applin''s pokeball "Dreepy Astonish and try Double Team we''ve got to have it down by now! Applin use Rollout!" Scyther realized it couldn''t avoid the Dreepy and its clones, so it decided to try and focus Applin with Slash, Also a mistake. It was punished by another Quick Attack from Dreepy. After a few more hits Scyther tried to get by the dragons and chase the girl who ran, worst mistake yet. The boy jumped in front of it and punched it in the nose. A human had just punched him! Scyther was so frazzled by the human fighting that it took a powered up rollout and Quick Attack simultaneously knocking it out. "You are so lucky I''m saving this pokeball otherwise I''d give you right to Oak!" Then Donny felt a raindrop then another and another. He''d been walking with Serena for a while and now it''s raining after the battle with Scyther he''d done the same thing he thought Goh would do. Well finding the surprise Pokemon was off the table now he had to find Serena. He ran in the same direction he''d seen her run. Thirty minutes and all he''d found was Ashton Ketchum who was lost from his group and now helping him search. "AH!" "That sounded like her Ash come on!" They ran towards the source of the scream and found Serena shivering on the ground with a hurt knee. Ash seemed to have the same idea as Donny as he pulled out a handkerchief, which Donny practically snatched and started to tie around Serena''s knee. "Help me- never mind that''s gonna be hard in the rain, I''ll just carry her myself. If you need it, of course Serena!" "Hold on Donny look in that tree trunk." He obliged her request and walked over to the tree trunk where he was suddenly tackled and pushed back by a flash of cream colored fur. "An Eevee!? Are you hurt too?" He was met with a growl and Serena told him to bring her closer. "I found her while running. It started raining and we ended up in the same place. I got scared by some blue thing and fell on my knee." The Eevee didn''t seem to mind as Serena reached into the trunk to pet it "this was not how I was supposed to find the surprise Pokemon but surprise I guess I was looking for Eevee." Serena smiled. "You should catch her if you were looking for her!" "No Serena, I was looking for Eevee to give one to you. It matched all your criteria: cute, Sylveon is a fairy type and strong." Donny focused. "Whatever doesn''t matter now Eevee seems to like you and we gotta get you back to camp so may I pick you up?" Serena nodded and Donny picked her up with surprising ease before Eevee hopped onto her stomach and curled up. "I guess it really does like you. Hey ash can you run ahead and tell Oak. Dreepy go with him just to be safe." Ash ran with Dreepy as Donny began slowly and carefully walking back in the direction of camp. "Goh is going to tease you to no end for this Donny." Serena giggled "Oh whatever Red was going to tease me regardless especially with the whole Eevee thing that ended up working out even if the plan didn''t. Besides I''ll just tell him he''s projecting himself and Chloe that usually makes him shut up." After 15 minutes ash, Professor Oak and Dreepy were back. Oak''s Arcanine took Serena and Donny before running back to camp. Very quickly they were back at their cabin and Donny carried her in. After a few worries were quelled the teasing began immediately. "Look at you Donnatello real hero what''s next you gonna slay a Salemance guarding a tower with her inside." "Red you are lucky I''m too cold and tired to wrap you in blankets again I can do it tighter than yesterday." Goh snickered in response "Sounds like I''d better get my jabs in now then." "Sounds like I''ll have to listen to even more of Red''s projecting today." "It''s not projecting! Chloe is just the only person that was my friend when I was little!" Donny smiled now that he had Goh being defensive "who said I was talking about Chloe you must really love her." Goh hesitated "you- I- whenever this happens you always are talking about Chloe!" "Whatever Red I''m goin to bed." Donny really was exhausted, the second his head hit his sleeping bag he was knocked out. Tournament (Part 1) Apparently Donny really had been quite exhausted. He woke up to Goh and Serena shaking him and telling him to wake up. They told Donny that he was going to be late for breakfast if he didn''t get up right now. After quickly dressing himself he and his cabin mates left for the camp cafeteria to acquire breakfast. "Oh wait! Serena what happened to Eevee?" Donny had just remembered Eevee was taken back with them yesterday. "Oh Professor Oak took her from me, he said I should get her back today if everything goes well." They continued to chat until the finished breakfast and Oak rounded up all the campers. The old man cleared his throat and began "Campers as you know I''ve been allowing everyone to leave camp and explore for the past 2 weeks and because of that most of you already have Pokemon. Now that you''ve had time to get used to your partners, we will have a battle tournament where the winner will receive a prize of 3 ultra balls, the choice of a starter Pokemon from my lab and the truly grand reward of a sponsorship from me." Excited murmuring quickly spread across the 30 kids. A sponsorship was huge; it meant you could catch more than six Pokemon before you attained 7 badges (couldn''t have them on hand though). From big sponsors like Oak, you would even receive top shelf Pokemon food and training items. There is so much a sponsor allows a trainer to do that they were really only given to popular trainers or true prodigies. The old man raised his voice to get the attention of the group again. "The brackets have already been created and people who have not yet managed to catch a Pokemon will be given three more days of grace period before being disqualified. With that may I have Joey Young and Quinton Green come with me and the rest of you get to the bleachers." Everybody quickly moved to the bleachers and watched the drawn battlefield eagerly as Oak talked to both participants before moving to the sidelines to cleared his throat "begin." Joey was quick to call out to his Rattata. "Use Tail Whip!" Rattata ran up to its opponent, an Oddish, and smacked it with its tail. Quinton called for tackle but Oddish didn''t listen, opting for Poison Powder instead, leaving a deep purple rash visible even though Rattata''s fur. Rattata cried out and sneezed at the noxious gas but heeded Joey''s call of Quick Attack. The rat crashed clumsily into the weed Pokemon and began to scratch desperately at Oddish''s face. Oddish, still ignoring its trainer, tried to use Poison Powder again to no avail before eventually fainting at gnaws and swipes from Rattata. Oak cleared his throat and spoke up "The winner of the match is Joey Young. Quinton Green please take your pokemon to the medical cabin and return to the bleachers." Next up was Donny and a kid named Jonathan Hence. The two actually had one thing in common, rich families. Jonathan walked up to his side of the field pompously with a flick of his hair. Donatello on the other hand lazed up to his side stretching and yawning. "Begin." Dreepy shot off of Donny''s head while Donny was fiddling with Applin''s pokeball. Jonathan tossed a pokeball onto the field revealing a tall standing Electabuzz that crackled with electricity and let out a roar resembling the sound of thunder. Donny looked up from the Ball in his hand, the kid definitely bought Electabuzz but even with a lack of experience he would easily wipe the floor with any kid here. "Dreepy it''s fast but you''re faster just don''t get hit. Double Team Quick Attack Combo!" Dreepy began to split into doubles of itself while avoiding thunderbolts from the hulking beast. When Dreepy was content with the amount of clones it had they all began to pelt Electabuzz. They didn''t do much to the beast besides confusing it. "Switch tactics Dragon Rage hit and run!" This once again was only doing minimal damage to the electric type it seemed like it was getting more angry rather than getting hurt. And with a lucky swing of its fist in a blind rage it hit Dreepy sending the little Dragon skidding in the dirt. Dreepy flew away from the spot it landed in quickly, not wanting to take another hit. It stopped and turned around blasting a Dragon Rage in Electabuzz''s face. The electric beast roared in response and swung blindly forward with arms coated in fire. Dreepy dodged again even if it didn''t expect Fire Punch. After all the running, rage, and missed attacks Electabuzz was tired. All it could do was pathetically swing as Dreepy began to chip away at it with Quick Attack. But the Pokemon was smart with the last of its energy. It used Spark covering its body in electricity knocking dust up and covering both Pokemon for a second. The cloud cleared Electabuzz was the first to be revealed unconscious then Dreepy. "The winner of this battle is Donatello Draco, Both parties please take your Pokemon to the medical cabin." Oak was the only person to speak up. The crowd of kids was still shocked from the small little dragon beating the big beastly electric type. Donny knew Dreepy went down first the only reason he won was because they could see Electabuzz first he hated that. Jonathan looked furious, he ran up to the unconscious Pokemon and began to yell at it and kick it before Oak yelled at the boy to stop and he reluctantly returned the Electabuzz and began to walk silently with Donny to the medical cabin. About halfway through the walk Jonathan spoke up bitterly "how much for that dragon?" Donny scoffed and laughed at the question. "I come from money too you can''t buy my best friend off of me! hell even if I didn''t you still couldn''t buy him off me!" Jonathan clearly didn''t like this comment because his face was red probably with mostly anger and some embarrassment. "You cheated didn''t you! You hurt my Pokemon before the battle! Or my side of the field was bad! There''s now way that small stupid little- AH!" Dreepy, who was still resting on Donny''s head, didn''t like the comments about its size and threatened the boy with a growl and biting motion. This shut Jonathan up for the rest of the walk to the medical cabin. Dreepy was deemed free to go by the nurse joy volunteer because he had just been a bit dizzy. Back at the arena a Pidgey had just beaten a Rattata that was way smaller than Joey''s. And both trainers were walking back the way Donny came. On his way back he ran into Serena, her battle was up next Professor Oak had managed to get her a permit in only 1 day so she was cleared to battle with and have Eevee. After giving her some words of affirmation they separated and Donny went back to Goh, Chloe, and Joey in the stands. Serena was nervous as she took her place on the battlefield. Eevee was already waddling by her side so no need to hold her pokeball. Her opponent was a kid named Eric. He had been battling other kids since he caught his Purrloin so it didn''t look particularly good for Serena. Eevee on the other hand looked as if she had been waiting for this moment all her life, both Pokemon took their places, and oak called begin. Eric yelled out for Purrloin to use Scratch and Serena called for Tackle, neither pokemon listened instead both walked up to the opposite trainer. "Purrloin! What are you doing? Come on, don''t just walk past it!" "Eevee what''s wrong? Please use Tackle." Eevee reached its destination first, it sat in front of Eric and used its best Baby-doll Eyes, Purrloin used Copycat on Eevee and did the same to Serena. Eric let out an "Awwww" but Serena just thought Eevee was cuter. Just then Eevee jumped up and snatched Eric''s pokeball before running back to Serena, Purrloin did the same but Serena was startled by the sudden movement and fell back bringing the pokeball just barely out of its reach. Purrloin looked bitterly at Eevee and returned to its pokeball before Eevee kicked it back over to Eric. Professor Oak let out a hearty laugh and said "Purrloin forfeit meaning the winner is Serena Yvonne! It seems there was a rivalry before you two caught these Pokemon, what a coincidence!" Serena let out a sigh of relief and a small laugh before Eevee jumped into her arms. Donny was confused, happy, and amazed. Despite his encouragement he didn''t expect Serena to win in a real battle when she''d only been with Eevee for 30 minutes at most, but this was unexpected. Both parties were sent back to the stands because no Pokemon even got hurt. Goh was up next with a Pokemon he scrambled to catch yesterday and somehow forgot to mention. As Goh took his place the opposing youngster did the same, and they both threw pokeballs forward. Goh released a Nidoran and the kid, Jake Ranson, released a Geodude. Geodude began with throwing rocks at the Nidoran and Goh called for it to dodge, but it could only dodge so many before it got hit. Geodude used Rollout and blitzed towards Nidoran. "Nidoran counter with Double Kick!" Nidoran yelled back a Goh and charged the Geodude with peck instead. The two Pokemon crashed and Geodude won out rolling away and pivoting for round two. "Nidoran! Why didn''t you use Double Kick? It would have been more effective!" The Poison Pin Pokemon grunted and charged the Geodude again to the same effect. On the next attempt it didn''t even put up a fight. Rollout had gained too much momentum. Donny was honestly shocked, even if he didn''t know how long Goh had Nidoran he would''ve expected Goh to win. He was smart and definitely capable on the few times they''d convinced Applin to let go have a mock battle against Dreepy with it. Goh of all people should''ve known he needed to befriend his pokemon or at least make a deal with them if there was nothing in it for them most Pokemon wouldn''t listen. Even Donny who had been lucky with his dragons had something for Dreepy, a parent for Applin, trust and respect was built over the last of the time in the Dragon''s Den. Goh came back and sat down quietly, first Joey tried to cheer him up he got brushed off. Next was Serena but he just ignored her. Donny refused to interact with Goh but Serena and Joey convinced him. "Goh get your act together, no ''rival'' of mine is gonna lose once and give up, get your shit together or get out." Donny tried to stop at that but he felt like he couldn''t. "All it takes is trust and time you got this Goh. Don''t give up, you''re not that pathetic." Goh grunted at him, and finally Chloe got her chance. She gathered her thoughts for a moment and spoke "Goh you know that I don''t care much for battling so I don''t have anything to say on that. But Donatello is right, don''t give up. That was only your first try Donatello has been in a cave full of dragon types for months of course he won but you''re not him. You''re smarter than him, more friendly, have my dad backing you up and you have me. As far as I''m concerned you''re leagues better than him." Donny was having a real hard time keeping his mouth shut but he did so nonetheless. "So Goh don''t give up I''m sure you and Nidoran will get it soon." Goh met her eyes and nodded before getting up and walking over to Donny "Donny- no Donatello next time I''m gonna win and after that your next, rival. I don''t need to see the rest of this tournament, I''m going to go train." Chloe ran after him and with that only Joey, Serena, and Donny were left. "So he ignores the rest of us but a little pep talk from his girlfriend and he runs off to train. What''d I do differently?!" Donny complained but settled down to watch the rest of the first round. If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation. It was quite uneventful Gary Oak with a huge Pidgey with particularly red eyes. Ashton Ketchum won his battle easily against a Poliwag that Pichu made quick work of. The next round would be tomorrow so Donny Serena and Joey had about 3 hours to kill before Donny would run off to train. Joey had a nice idea to pass said time. "Let''s introduce Eevee to our Pokemon back at the cabin." Serena smiled. "That''s a great idea Joey!" Eevee, who seemed to take after Dreepy in resting on her trainer''s head, perked up at the mention of its name. "Ve Ee Vee!" Eevee loathed Donny, and they all had no clue why. It had been a few hours and Donny had even sent his Pokemon to train on their own. His right and left hands were covered in bites and scratches, and he refused to give up and accept that Eevee hated him. "Donny your hands have to be hurting¡" Serena said with a concerned voice. Eevee seemed to enjoy nipping and scratching him so it wouldn''t run off whenever he''d try to pet it. "No, just 1 more try and I''m sure it will at least tolerate me¡ Ah that hurts!" After another Hour Eevee got bored and ran away from him concluding the night.Same as yesterday every cabin was awoken and brought to the battle area. As they walked Donny had a few questions for Goh. "Red, where did you drag Chloe off all day? We all went to sleep before you two were back there''s training and then there''s hurting your Pokemon." Goh rubbed the back of his head with an apologetic smile "Well most of the day was earning Nidoran''s trust and after that we got an hour of training in but Chloe fell asleep." Goh leaned in close to whisper. "It took a while but if I tell her she''ll think I''m calling her fat. Which she''s not." Donny took his word for it and Nidoran seemed much nicer with Goh so he knew the day wasn''t wasted. As they reached the battlefield Oak told everyone to head to the stands besides Gary and Anne, a Kid who made it past the first round, to head to the stands. Gary and Anne took their positions on opposite sides and both released their Pokemon Gary the massive Pidgey from yesterday and Anne a Snivy that must''ve been from home. Oak called for them to begin and Snivy charged vines already extended from its neck and lashing. Pidgey took to the air kicking up dirt as it took off and studied the Snivy for an opening in its shield of whipping vines. Gary and Anne said nothing while waiting for their Pokemon to make their own actions. Finally Pigey flapped hard sending a Powerful gust sweeping over the arena. "Pidgey spinning dive and Peck!" The bird did as ordered diving in on Snivy''s location in a mock Drill Peck. The pained cry of a Snivy told the audience it was a direct hit. "Double Wing Attacks!" "Snivy restrain it with a Vine Whip!" Sinvy was not strong enough to hold down the big bird for long and Pidgey hit it with a powerful Wing Attack from both sides again mocking Dual Wingbeat. Snivy, pushed into what pros called stress range, began to glow a faint green as its natural ability Overgrow came into effect. With this boost in power Snivy was able to force Pidgey to retreat with two powerful cracks against Its wings with Grassy vines. Pidgey took back to the skies with reddened wings and a significant struggle. Snivy wasn''t done though it grabbed Pidgey and pulled it back in by its trainers command and began to violently whip the poor bird. Gary wasn''t complaint though as he ordered Pidgey to use flying type attacks to out damage it. A cloud of dirt quickly built up as the Pokemon struggled against each other the only input was screams from both sides. After 30 seconds in the cloud the dust cleared showing both Pokemon battered and asleep. Oak called a tie. Donny was truly impressed. It may have been on the quicker side but that was the best battle he''d seen. Snivy was strong and determined while Gary had Pidgey use what it had to make mock versions of stronger moves. "There are no tie-breakers in this tournament. Both sides will move on." with that Oak sent them both to the medical cabin. Next up was Donny, he wouldn''t lose this one he''d redeem himself. He had the perfect opponent, Jake, the one that Knocked Goh out of the first round. Donny may not have known why he felt a strong hate towards the kid, but he wanted to avenge his friend and rival. Applin was released from the pokeball that was thrown and Jake released the same Geodude. "Withdraw, we''re going to embarrass this guy!" Appln already understood withdrawing into its Apple and boosting its defences before rolling forward as fast as possible. Geodude didn''t Defence Curl just rolled forwards. Both Pokemon clashed once. Geodude grunted, pushing hard against Applin who was too focused to make a sound. Applin won the first clash, then the second ,and the third, fourth and Geodude couldn''t handle the fifth. It wasn''t even a battle, it was a joke. The apple that was half the size of the boulder beat the boulder in a competition to hit the other the hardest. And to salt the wound Donny wasn''t even paying attention he was chatting with Dreepy while Jake was giving it his all. "Ahem the winner of the battle is Donatello." Donny made his way back to the stands and sat back down. He didn''t have much to say, as he had taught Serena to train and told her to do that instead of watching so she could win her battle properly this time. Ashton ketchum was up against a random kid; they sent out a Caterpie while Pichu hopped off Ash''s shoulder. Pichu ran up to the caterpillar clearly underestimating it. Caterpie shot out String Shot trapping the mouse before starting to wrap it in more and more string. "Pichu uh I think burn it with Thundershock try not to burn yourself!" Ash yelled thinking quickly. Pichu started a small fire with its electricity but it did burn itself a bit then it charged with quick attack but Caterpie used its String Shot to zip around the field and avoid it. It threw Pichu off by making it trip occasionally. "Pichu Thundershock there and speed up towards it!" Ash predicted the next spot perfectly, the string burned up and Caterpie didn''t have enough time to escape the mouse barreling towards it. After Pichu got to it the battle was basically over a few shocks and Caterpie was out cold. Tournament (Part 2) The next round was over quickly, two randoms with a Sandshrew and Burmy. Sandshrew won the battle by scratching away the Burmy''s leaves before it could build up a defense. Now was time for Serena''s battle¡ against Joey. Donny whisked Serena luck as she ran up to her spot on the field. The battle began and both Eevee and Rattata used Quick Attack. Both sides attacked in a blur but more than attacking Eevee was¡ dancing? No that wasn''t fully correct Eevee was Dodging with such grace it looked like a dance. And Serena could be heard humming a tune for Eevee to dodge to. Both Pokemon separated eventually. Rattata charged with Bite while Eevee danced in place before narrowly leaping over the rat, and placing two strong kicks onto its back before landing and winking at the audience. "Woah Serena how''d you manage this, it''s only been like an hour!" Joey yelled from his side. This little compliment actually threw Serena off rhythm giving Rattata an opening to hit Eevee. Serena panicked, she didn''t expect Eevee to get hit and didn''t like it. "Eevee I''m so sorry I should''ve-" her long winded apology and no command left Eevee defenseless to Rattata constant painful bites. Eevee sensing its trainer had panicked adapted to the situation it was in and bit back harder before kicking the rat off of it. "Vee!" This snapped Serena out of her stupor and she began to hum again. "Rattata don''t let it get rhythm Quick Attack and Bite!" Rattata closed the distance and bit down on Eevee''s leg before Eevee could dodge. "E-Eevee use B-Bite!" Serena still didn''t like Seeing Eevee get hurt but she knew Eevee wanted to win so she would push past that. Eevee bit the rat back on its tail hard. "Raat!" It cried out but held strong. Unfortunately for it Eevee was bigger and Eevee threw the poor rat back. Rattata caught itself and charged in with Quick Attack striking Eevee hard. Eevee looked as if it was gonna attack again and growled before falling over, as much as it wanted to keep going Rattata was more experienced and stronger. "Joey Young is the winner¡" Oak went on with the usual but Serena stopped listening. Tears pricked at the corners of her eyes, her lip quivered, and she sniffled. She looked at Eevee''s battered little body. And this was amplified ten times. "Eevee!" Tears cascaded down her face as she ran to her partner. She hated the sight so much, she hated herself and how much she let Eevee down. Eevee snuggled into her trainer''s arms and tried to sooth her with a clam "Vee Eee Vee." Serena stifled her tears after a moment. She didn''t like Eevee being hurt and that was abundantly clear. "Ms. Yvonne, if you feel calmer now please take your Pokemon to the medical cabin." She calmed significantly on the short walk thanks to Eevee''s reassuring purrs and snuggles. Though, she still couldn''t bear to leave the medical cabin as the nurse Joy had informed her Eevee only needed a little rest. In hindsight that may have made her look like a sore loser to the rest of the campers, losing and leaving. Donny was concerned, and he left along with Goh, Chloe, and Joey to check up on her. After quickly reaching the cabin the four kids saw Serena sitting down next to a sleeping Eevee. Donny spoke first "hey Serena you alright? Don''t go crazy over that, it was really good for your first battle." Serena smiled at him. "Yeah I just got really scared when Eevee got hurt. Even though I haven''t known her long, we are super close. Plus I kinda let her down, I froze up and panicked when she got hit which made her get hit more." Joey was next. "I''m sorry Serena I should''ve had Rattata-" she cut him off quickly. "No, don''t apologize for winning Joey, that''s dumb!" Goh and Chloe added on to what Donny said before Hoey asked Goh to go and train with him. Chloe was sure to tag along following Goh wherever he went. Donny sat down next to Serena with Eevee in between them sleeping peacefully. "Hey Donny what are you going to do after this?" "I hope I''ll get to stay at home with father and my younger siblings for maybe a year or two before he inevitably sends me off again. What about you?" She thought for a moment before responding. "I don''t know, my mom says we are moving to Kalos soon within the year." Donny sighed. "Honestly I don''t know if it''ll even be a few days, forget a year. After 6 months in the cave he sent me right here immediately. I just wanted some time, I wanted to show him Dreepy and Applin. But he just made me go like he doesn''t care! But I guess I have 16 siblings, 5 still at home so he can''t care for us all. But all he has to do is talk, the maids do all the work!" Serena looked at him shocked he had failed to mention he had 16 whole siblings somehow. "I can''t really relate to that, I''m an only child. But if it helps you can call me or the others we all exchanged Rotom Phone numbers, we can all listen. Plus you can even visit Chloe and Goh at Professor Cerise''s lab, if of course he lets you." "If of course he doesn''t ship me off somewhere else before I have the chance." He half joked. Serena looked down at her sleeping partner. "Look at her, maybe you can even pet her now." Donny reached out and touched the small creature, something he hadn''t been able to do before. "She''s so soft." After talking a bit longer the pair left with their partner Pokemon both contently on their heads." As they reached the tournament site the second round had almost been over its final battle, a heated match between a female Nidoran and Meowth. "Nido use horn attack and finish it!" "Meowth dodge it and fury swipes!" The Meowth barely jumped over the Nidoran and scratched up its back, knocking the Pokemon out. "With that the second round is over the trainers moving on are Joey, Donatello, Ash, Gary, Anne, douglas, Daniel, and Kay." Oak expected a cheer but it was mostly a few claps and bitter kids glaring. Because there was still half the day left. The third round started up instantly with Joey vs Gary. Pidgey came out with a mighty caw while Rattata chattered at it. "Rattata don''t stop moving, it''s really strong!" "Pidgey Wing Attack it''s just like every other rat we''ve faced." Pidgey dove on the mouse Pokemon who jumped barley to the side. "Jump on its back Rattata!" Rattata leaped with Quick Attack landing on the large bird''s back. "Don''t panic, Pidgey use Gust on yourself blow it away!" A powerful mini windstorm swept up below Pidgey. But this only caused it more harm as Rattata had to bite down into its back to stay anchored. "Rattata Focus Energy!" Focusing more intensely, Rattata bites down harder into Pidgey''s back. "Pidgey run and jump onto your back use Gust as a Tailwind!" Pidgey did just that, it ran with gust before jumping as high as it could and trying to flop onto its back. Rattata held for as long as it could before jumping away, but Pidgey, thanks to the wind from Gust was able to correct itself before it hit the floor and took the air again. "Pseudo Drill Peck!" "Dodge it Rattata!" Gary let anger seep into his command after the showing from Rattata but Joey looked like he was having the time of his life. Perhaps that made Gary even more angry. Rattata was still a bit dizzy from being shaken around and was a bit too slow to dodge the spinning bird taking a direct hit. "Double Wing Attack!" "Bite Rattata!" Rattata nipped the bird before being pushed away. "Keep it up with Peck!" Rattata tried to back away with Quick Attack but Pidgey matched it to keep up. Rattata couldn''t run forever and was eventually knocked out. "Aw man! Thanks Rattata you did super good!" After returning his Pokemon he was sent to the medical cabin by Professor Oak. Next up was Donny and Douglas. Doug sent out a Teddiursa while Donny chose Dreepy for this battle. "Teddiursa tackle and pound won''t work, we can only bite it!" Teddiursa tried to run and jump at Dreepy but it missed due to the little dragon''s speed. "Dreepy fly in a circle around it and use Dragon Rage." Donny was taking a page out of Gary''s book and trying to create a mock version of a stronger move. Dreepy did as it was asked and flew in a circle around the cub making it from its speed alone. The dragon type energy from the move built up with the wind creating a Twister, hurting Teddiursa badly. "Keep it up, this is training!" Donny yelled as there was no realistic way he could lose at this point everyone else had their pokemon for a 2 weeks max besides Ash and Gary who had their Pokemon for 2 months. Donny had Dreepy for about 9 months at this point. Once Teddiursa fell Dreepy moved and continued for a few seconds before getting tired. "Donatello is the winner." Next up were Ash and Kay Both took their positions with confidence and Kay released a Mankey. Before it even fully materialized it was running at Pichu in a blind rage. "Pichu shock it!" Kay hadn''t even tried to command her Mankey the whole tournament; she''d just let it rampage and this match was no different. Pichu''s Thundershock stopped it for a second but it kept going, reaching Pichu quickly. Pichu dodged to the side as Mankey tried to Tackle it. "Pichu run away with Quick Attack and use Thundershock!" Using Quick Attack to outspend the Mankey, Pichu ran away before turning back and shocking it again. That game of tag continued two more times, until Mankey''s eyes glowed a dim yellow and it screeched, its ability Anger Point was activating. Muscles bulging, fur standing on end, and eyes fiercely gleaming, Mankey rushed forward with a Tackle that looked more like a Quick Attack. "Pichu don''t bother outrunning it, let''s try out our new move! Use Spark!" Pichu ran back at the Mankey covered in electricity. As Mankey grabbed it Mankey was shocked more powerfully than before. A brawl broke out with Pichu tackling Mankey, and Mankey getting shocked for every powerful hit it let off. Eventually with fur burned black Mankey fell. Pichu limped a few steps back towards ash before fainting."The winner is Ashton." Oak plainly said as Kay returned Mankey to its ball, and Ash scooped up Pichu into his arms.Help support creative writers by finding and reading their stories on the original site. Both walked together to the medical cabin. Anne''s battle was so one sided it was barely a battle Snivy literally and figuratively wiped the floor with an opposing Psyduck, and with that match it was onto the semi-finals. "Our semi finalists are the impressive trainers Ashton Ketchum, Gary Oak, Donatello Draco, and Anne Seafare." Once again despite Oak''s hopes not much clapping and more so bitterness. The semifinals and finals would be held tomorrow on the penultimate day of camp. Donny with an immaculate internal clock woke up earlier than usual today a little later than the crack of dawn. He slipped slightly on the dew-covered grass, and morning air filled his lungs as he stepped outside with a sleepy Dreepy on his head. He made his way into the woods quite deep to find a familiar Scyther, who had recently become a great sparring partner, willing or not. Finding the green menace he and Dreepy began to lightly spar. Dreepy had been trying to use his moves at a certain percentage of full power. But Donny was thinking about what his next Pokemon would be, and about what he''d do after camp. He had half convinced himself that his dad would likely send him to Hoenn to see his draconid sister and half tribe. The Draco''s and Draconid tribe were always intertwined after all the Draco''s were just a branch of the Draconids that ventured out of Hoenn originally to spread their faith in Rayquaza. Generations of the two had been apart until a few years before Donny''s birth when his father Married a Draconid woman and had two kids. The woman, Donny''s mom, had been an important person in the tribe too. But Donny didn''t care for his mother or her position. Due to her duties Donny hadn''t ever met his mother and had only seen his sister once as she stayed with the Draconids. Overall Donny had basically no interest in his mother''s side of the family. Donny knew he would have to prove himself to them sooner or later after all they had the purest mega stones in the world, letting Pokemon mega evolve for a longer time and with less pain. His sister was someone he liked though the one time they had met she showed him her special ability that she got for being a child of "the blessed by Dragon Lord." Apparently Donny had one too for being his mother''s child but he hadn''t seen it yet. Zinnia had been so lucky to get hers so young. All this thinking and history had Donny hungry, his stomach making it abundantly clear to him that he''d skipped breakfast and had Been working out on nothing. "Dreepy time to go! See ya Scyther, well maybe not actually, camp ends tomorrow." Making it back to camp at around the time everyone else was waking up he was able to get breakfast relatively quickly and was the first one with Oak waiting to go to the tournament site. As they walked the normal group came back together. "You were up super early today Donny training?" Goh asked. "Yeah but mostly thinking." Everyone looked at him expectantly and he obliged them "Well I''ll definitely be going somewhere after this and to be honest I think I might be sent to Hoenn." "What!" The group all yelled simultaneously "How''d you come to that conclusion!" Serena asked "Well I have family there to keep it short I have a sister over there not a half one either one of only two kids my dad had with that woman. Same age too. We look totally different though she''s light skin and has deep red eyes while you can obviously see my eyes are purple and my skin is darker not to mention her hair is straight." Donny answered quickly. "I bet she''s just like you personality wise though, egotistical!" Goh teased "Well excuse me for being simply better than most!" The other three laughed at the exchange. They had arrived at the site and Donny was up first vs Anne. Snivy hit the field and Dreepy floated above. "3¡ 2¡ 1¡ Let the battle begin!" Oak yelled and both Pokemon jumped to action. "Snivy Leech Seeds and Vine Whips!" "Dreepy dragon rage 40%. Destroy the seeds with a Quick Attack 20%." Donny had decided to try and experiment with using moves at certain power percentages after his battle yesterday. After all, why waste energy if you don''t need to plus it''s practice in move control. Dreepy darted through the seeds destroying them and getting close to Snivy. Snivy tried to whip the wispy dragon to little effect, taking the brunt of Dragon Rage at 40% power. Which wasn''t much to Snivy so it pushed through and got another Leech Seed off. Seeds embedded into the solid parts of Dreepy and began to sap away his energy while restoring Snivy''s. "Double Team and Quick Attack barrage. We don''t have the luxury of testing anymore." Dreepy quickly split into copies despite Snivy trying to get rid of them with Vine Whips, before all of them darted forward with quick attack and swarmed Snivy. "Snivy lash out vines everywhere!" Following its trainer''s orders Snivy''s vines began to lash out uncontrollably making a plethora of the clones fade before hitting it. "Full power Dragon Rage now!" Seeing an opening Dreepy belched dragon type energy onto the serpentine grass Pokemon. Snivy cried out as it was engulfed in Dragon type energy. Suddenly out of the sea of purple, pink, and blue could inch its vision, came Dreepy slamming into Snivy with a 35% Quick attack. Snivy weakly grabbed Dreepy with its vines and glared before falling over. Anne returned Snivy and smiled wide, a bit too wide. The mild shaking, and clenched fists told that she wasn''t happy though. "The winner is Donatello." The next match started up quickly Ash vs Gary, a match everyone had been hoping for around camp as the two were known rivals and no one truly knew who was better. "Battle begin." "Pichu Thunder Shock and Quick Attack!" "Pidgey Peck and Quick Attack!" The two Pokemon raced towards each other covered in their respective type energies. Once they collided both cried out Pichu from the puncture of Peck and Pidgey from the Shock it received. "Wing Attack!" "Spark!" The Pokemon whaled on each other with sparks and wispy feathers flying all over before separating. "Gust!" "Thunder Shock!" The two attacks met in the middle and clashed, blowing up in a cloud of dust. "Quick Attack!" The two pre-teens yelled simultaneously. Once again the Pokemon collided in the middle of the arena. "Gust!" "Thunder Sh-" Ash wasn''t fast enough and Pichu was whipped into the air, before being peppered with Wing and Quick Attacks. "Keep it up Pidgey don''t let him fall and keep attacking!" "Spark and fight back Pichu!" Pichu yelled determinedly and punched the incoming Bird Pokemon with a fist covered in electricity eliciting a disgruntled squawk from it. "Pidgey, let''s do our special thing, Mirror Move!" Pidgey spread its wings and shone a bright blue before electricity covered its body and it crashed into Pichu. "Pichu get up!" Ash yelled a voice full of concern as she watched the little mouse plummet to the floor. "Thunder Shock!" "Don''t let it finish this with Peck!" Pidgey gained incredible speed as it dive bombed the electric mouse who weakly charged electricity in its cheeks. "Pichu!" Both trainer and pokemon cried in sync as Pichu let off its attack to no avail. Pidgey crashed down into the mouse and Ash''s vision was in slow motion. He watched in slowed time as Pidgey''s beak strained more and more against Pichu''s belly, and Pichu cried. Then the bleak world he was watching shattered as he realized he was giving up. "Not yet! Pichu don''t give up! PICHU!" Ash''s words seemed to break through the pain Pichu was feeling as a bright light engulfed its body and the weak Thunder Shock got stronger. "Stronger Pichu we won''t lose!" As the light faded a Pikachu unleashed a Powerful electric type move at point blank onto the bird charging its feathers and knocking it out. Gary couldn''t believe it, Pichu evolved to win. "Pidgey¡" he raised his pokeball and it sucked Pidgey in. "Ashton Ketchum with an incredible evolution is the winner!" Oak exclaimed with a happy smile. That was it, it was time for the finals Ash vs Donny Pikachu vs Dreepy. This was going to end the same way it started. "Our two finalists may go and have a 30 minute intermission, do what you must to prepare." Ash ran towards the medical cabin while Donny looked at Dreepy determined to win. They were already ready; they''ve been ready for a very long time. Blue Flame "Battle Begin!" Pikachu charged forwards with a newfound speed and weight to its steps. Dreepy darted forward using Dragon Rage and covering itself in dragon type energy in a sudo Dragon Rush dubbed Dragon Rage Armor. ¡°Pikachu use Thundershock! Then Spark!¡± Ash yelled, exuding energy and excitement. ¡°Dreepy keep on pushing forwards it won¡¯t matter.¡± Pikachu¡¯s Thundershock collided with Dreepy and Donny flinched. It looked like it actually hurt Dreepy! Next came the Spark as Donny was too shocked to change plans. Spark knocked Dreepy down with only minimal damage from the sudo Dragon Rush. Maybe Pikachu had still had some left over evolution energy? Donny focused again and was only slightly panicking, he never had to think on the fly since his strategy of speed blitzing had always worked. ¡°Alright Dragon Rage Dreepy, get back and dodge any attacks out range it.¡± This is when Donny learned how fast lightning actually travels. Dreepy was faster than any pokemon that wasn¡¯t legendary or a member of his species. The fastest Dreepy could travel maybe 430 mph (692 km/h) and our Dreepy could travel 390 mph (627 km/h) at his absolute fastest. 692 times faster. Or 270,000 mph (434,522 km/h) was how fast lightning traveled. Of course the little Pikachu couldn¡¯t fire off lightning like a storm but his wasn¡¯t slow enough to make any meaningful difference in the fact that Dreepy got hit every time. ¡°Thundershock, Thundershock, Thundershock!¡± Ash yelled happily. ¡°Dreepy forget range dive in again with Dragon Rage Armor!¡± ¡°Then let¡¯s use Spark Pikachu!¡± Dreepy and Pikachu collided and once again it looked as if Dreepy would lose. ¡°Dragons don¡¯t lose to rodents! In fact, dragons don¡¯t lose! We don¡¯t lose! Let¡¯s go Dreepy!¡± Dreepy heard its trainer-dad¡¯s word and pushed harder. ¡°Pikachu if we¡¯re gonna be the strongest we have to beat Donny let¡¯s get that out of the way now!¡± That was a poor choice of words for Ash. Dreepy and Donny were both angry at that remark; it hurt their pride like they were just another trainer in his path. ¡°Dree!¡± Dreepy pushed Pikachu back slowly. The breath of dragon rage was getting stronger, hotter even. Eventually Pikachu was thrown back and landed on its back with a thud. ¡°We aren¡¯t done Quick Attack Barrage while it¡¯s down.¡± Pikachu tried to get up but Dreepy was too fast and began to pelt him with Double Team clones using Quick Attack. ¡°Pikachu deal with them with Spark.¡± ¡°Dreepy make them use Dragon Rage Armor.¡± Neither Dreepy nor Donny knew if this was possible but they were angry so they didn¡¯t care much. Dreepy focused intently, the amount of clones going down significantly, but the ones that remained used a weakened Dragon Rage and charged forward. Interestingly instead of fading these Dreepy clones exploded on impact with spark hurting Pikachu. ¡°Again Dreepy!¡± Dreepy shot of the clones again but it took a bit longer this time as it took a lot of energy to have 2-3 clones become what was essentially homing missiles. Luckily enough he was able to fire off 2 more clones that hit Pikachu now fallen out of spark from the unexpected damage. ¡°Pikachu use Thundershock!¡± Pikachu did use Thundershock but it lacked the power behind the last one since it evolved. Dreepy still had been hurt, sure but not deterred. ¡°The evolution energy is wearing off push your advantage Dreepy! Quick Attack Barrage! Dreepy despite being tired loyally followed the order sending 4 clones to swarm the weakening Pikachu while ash yelled for Sparks and Thundershocks that only prolonged the inevitable. After a minute or so of flailing Pikachu fell, fainted on the ground. ¡°The winner is¡ Donatello Draco!¡± Oak announced as Dreepy floated back to Donny, tired from the genuine challenge that Pikachu provided. Joey, Goh, Serena, and Chloe all came down from the stands with their pokemon and Applin with Serena. Goh and Joey were the first to speak, ¡°Donny, that was super cool, Dreepy''s clones were like missles!¡± ¡°Yeah I don¡¯t think Rattata could do that even if he knew Double Team!¡± Applin called out to Dreepy praising its teammate while Eevee excitedly joined in. Serena Gave Donny high praise for his win, and Chloe feigning reluctance also congratulated Donny. Goh suddenly had a thought. ¡°Hey Donny what starter are you gonna choose none of them are dragon type pokemon?¡± Donny himself hadn¡¯t thought about that, Bulbasaur and Squirtle were off the table and Though Charmander and its evolutions looked like dragons the type wasn¡¯t there. Charmander and its evolutions were too docile and leaned further into fire then other dragons. They were still fierce and dangerous but the rare pokemon were domesticated before being given out making them lose the dragon type a few centuries ago in exchange for the flying type. Feral Charmander were thought to be extinct and the few Feral Charizard that people knew off were almost of legendary power level and soon to die of old age. ¡°I guess I¡¯ll take Charmander.¡± Donny had remembered one thing though, Mega Evolution. Though only the most powerful and wealthy people in the world had keystones and mega stones and many mega Pokemon hadn¡¯t been discovered due to the rarity of the stones, Mega Charizard X had been confirmed a dragon type when world champion Leon had mega evolved his in an exhibition match against his rival and showed the world the very first instance of the beast. ¡°Yeah I think I¡¯ll go with Charmander.¡± Goh seemed to catch on to his friends thinking. ¡°You think you can find a mega stone! Come on even if we forget about keystones a Pokemon has to just happen to sense its stone after coming within a certain distance of one it¡¯s like impossible!¡± ¡°Yeah I was thinking that or I teach it to be feral again by surrounding it with dragons.¡± Chloe chimed in. ¡°I don¡¯t think that¡¯s how that works¡¡± ¡°Well three ultra balls must be nice, those are super expressive I heard.¡± Serena chimed in. ¡°You want them, I don''t need them. Why add three to more than I could ever need? You Joey and Goh could all have one and I know Chole doesn¡¯t even want to be a trainer so she doesn¡¯t need one.¡± The three kids looked shocked they had almost forgotten that Donny was in fact filthy rich. After a few minutes Oak had corralled everyone and taken them back to camp where Parents were waiting Lots of kids had run over to their parents excitedly while Donny had looked stunned not by his fathers presence but one of his older brothers was also there. Night Draco the family¡¯s Salamence master known to Unova as The Trainer of The Blood Moon for his powerful mega Salamence.(for Rojune Mega Salamence when looked at from above its wings look like a crescent moon and its wings are red hence ¡°blood moon¡± look it up) ¡°what¡¯s up Donny how¡¯s it been besides being stuck without a license for the next 5 years.¡± His brother casually regarded him ¡°Hey night I heard you got a keystone recently! How¡¯d you do it? I need one now!¡± Even Donny¡¯s ever intimidating father looked surprised by this. ¡°Donatello, why would you ever need a keystone don¡¯t tell me you want one just because your brother has attained one.¡± ¡°No father it¡¯s not that it¡¯s- well I don¡¯t need one right now but I will need one¡ because well I accidentally won a Charmander.¡± Now the Dracon family didn¡¯t restrict itself to only dragon type Pokemon but they tried to stay away from Pokemon that only looked dragon-like unless they had taken well to the dragon type as compared to the rest of their species. ¡°Show me¡± his dad ordered. ¡°Well I can do that for you Mr. Draco if Donatello has already made his choice.¡± *Oak began to explain the tournament as he took out the pokeballs releasing Charmander, Bulbasaur, and Squirtle. Donny spoke before his father but they would¡¯ve had the same words. ¡°No. You raise multiple of the starters right, take me to your lab please.¡± One look at Donatello¡¯s father and opal knew that refusal wasn¡¯t really an option. After saying his proper goodbyes to his friends Donny and his brother took a seat on Salamence, his father on a Flygon, and Oak on a Charizard of his own. They all took off flying quickly towards Oak¡¯s lab after everyone had left. Flying over the main building they headed towards a different part in the field behind it. They landed in a field that was charred or even burning in some places with lots of Charmander Charmeleon and Charizard. Donny, as if drawn to it, immediately locked onto a Charmander that was getting thrown around by a Charmeleon. Charmander was knocked away again. ¡°Char!¡± It got up again undeterred and shot fire from its mouth while running at its adversary. ¡°Fighting with its older siblings again¡ that one-¡± Donny cut the professor off ¡°Is the one I want.¡± Charmander got thrown again before the Charmeleon walked off seemingly bored with its younger sibling. The Charmander still got up and tried to fight another of its siblings, a slightly smaller Charmander who it actually fainted against due to the damage from its prior battle. It reminded Donny of himself as a kid, he had always tried to fight his older brothers and sisters and had always lost pitifully. Even now back in the cave he¡¯d lost plenty of times to dragons. He knew that this was the one that he wanted to partner up with. Now having fainted Donny was able to get a better look at it and was delighted to see that it did seem to take on more dragon-like traits longer claws and teeth, and interestingly when it was battling it shot blue fire from its mouth and seemed to have a blue tail flame but that went away once it fainted. Donny chalked that up to Blaze the natural ability of the fire type. Its most striking features however were the top half of its head was darker scales and multiple other stripes on its body that were darker patches. When the lizard awoke it looked up at Donny with bright blue eyes much brighter than the rest of its species a neon blue. ¡°Char. Mander.¡± It spat. It was obvious he didn¡¯t accept Donny as a trainer and wanted a battle. ¡°Fine, let''s do it, but when you''re at full strength, not just after you woke up. Have a meal and chill for a bit.¡± Charmander did just that after being released into the field again. It came back an hour later, raring to battle. ¡°Applin you can have a turn, it''s been a while!¡± Donny yelled as he tossed the wyrm¡¯s pokeball. Applin hit the field excitedly. It was so exciting to have a battle after so long. That excitement vanished when the Charmander fell to a single Rollout. ¡°That was anticlimactic.¡± Oak coughed out. ¡°It was expected.¡± The three family members next to the professor said simultaneously. But Charmander wasn¡¯t done yet as they thought, it struggled to its feet, tail flame burning the same bright blue as its eyes. Rage overtook the small lizard and it ran forward at Applin. But it wasn¡¯t Rage as in the move it was more primal, more fierce it was undeniably Dragon Rage. That was all the proof the Draco family needed, sure the species could learn the move but it was unexpected to see so early in life normally it was a sign they were close to evolving but there was no chance it was. Still the move did little to Applin and the apple lightly rolled into the creature signaling its true end. After the lizard woke again Donny asked his question. ¡°So am I good enough for you?¡± Donny smirked. ¡°Weakling.¡± Charmander tried to bite him at the comment but it was too weak from back to back losses and nodded slightly, turning its head away as if to say. ¡°Only so I could beat you later!¡± Charmander was then encapsulated in an ultra ball signifying its capture. If you spot this story on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation. After that the family left Oak¡¯s lab and were taken home. Donny knew things were really about to get exciting just as he predicted he was going to Hoenn to see his sister and her tribe. A few days later he was on a plane, a private plane owned by his father of course to be sent to Hoenn. Due to his Pok¨¦mon¡¯s small size and the fact that he was alone barring the flight attendant and pilots, he was able to release them and let them scamper around the plane. Charmander didn¡¯t even try to pick a fight with its new teammates; it had done so over the last few days and learned its lesson after they were annoyed with it. As a flight attendant made her way towards him Donny spoke first. ¡°Drop the ¡®young master¡¯ crap, keep it to Donatello.¡± She nodded at his request restraining herself from using the very practiced title as she asked him if he needed anything to which he answered no. As he was on the plan Donny had a thought that he considered brilliant, he would go to Alola that was the safest region and hadn¡¯t changed their laws on someone starting as a trainer there. That was preceded by realizing there was only one dragon in Alola that couldn¡¯t be found anywhere else and he lost interest. The flight eventually ended, the plane landing on route 114 before taking off again without Donny. Now Donny had to make his way into Meteor Falls and fall into Meteor Village. Donny sent out his Charmander as he entered the cave, its tail illuminating the immediate area around him. He came across a giant hole after exploring for a bit. A giant hole that he had to blindly jump down and hope for the best, Because Meteor Village was below Meteor Falls. After a moment to calm himself Donny jumped. ¡°I¡ Won¡¯t¡ Scream.¡± He said holding himself back and after around 5 seconds of falling light filled his eyes as opposed to the dark hole. Not that he had any time to admire as he soon hit water. Swimming back up to the surface he was met with a growling Bagon. ¡°Hey who¡¯re yooouuu¡¡± the person''s voice trailed off as they realized who they were looking at. Zinnia did a double take and rubbed her eyes to make sure she wasn¡¯t seeing things, her brother had just fallen into the village, she hadn¡¯t seen him in years. ¡°So you just gonna sit there shocked or you gonna call this Bagon off?¡± Donny asked as Bagon snapped repeatedly at him not letting him out of the water. Zinnia came back to her senses and called Bagon off with a pet that looked more like a punch so the dragon would feel it through its strong head. Finally climbing out of the water Donny decided to properly introduce his team to his sister. ¡°So here¡¯s my team so far, my starter.¡± He tossed Dreepy¡¯s pokeball, releasing the ghostly dragon which tried to sit on his head before realizing he was soaked and backing off. ¡°He¡¯s my strongest not by far but he hasn¡¯t lost to another trainer yet, well once but it was officially our win so it doesn¡¯t count.¡± ¡°I bet Bagon could beat him.¡± Donny let that one slide in the essence of wanting to change before battling. ¡°Anyway next up is you.¡± He threw Applin¡¯s pokeball. The green apple materialized and the wyrm popped out. ¡°This guy was my second same with Dreepy this guy hasn¡¯t lost a trainer battle yet. Lastly, my newest member from only a few days ago.¡± He released Charmander, who immediately tried to battle the Bagon, before being stopped by his teammates. ¡°He¡¯s stubborn but he¡¯s determined so not much more I could ask for.¡± Zinnia nodded along as he spoke about his team before it was her turn. ¡°This Bagon is my partner and we¡¯re gonna battle after you change right?¡± ¡°Obviously.¡± Zinnia took Donny to her home; it was nothing special about as good as a tribal dwelling could get thanks to their mother¡¯s special position in the tribe. Said mother was shocked to see her son had appeared out of nowhere in her own home. ¡°Mom, look who just randomly showed up.¡± Aster only knew her son through the description of the boy her daughter met years ago but that wouldn¡¯t have been needed for her to tell the boy in front of her was her son. She just knew he was, she felt it. ¡°So you''re my mother? The woman blessed by Rayquaza.¡± She realized the boy must have been cold as he was dripping and offered him a towel as well as a change of clothes. After changing Donny took a quick look at himself, it was a change of pace from his usual attire but he couldn¡¯t say he hated it. Rugged Heavy-Duty Boots with long socks, ripped pants, scaly fingerless gloves, a loose black shirt, and most obnoxiously a cloak with ends that looked charred and an oversized hood. Overall it looked like the male version of what Zinnia was wearing. It had dark colors besides the tan of the cloak and the purple accents where red would be for Zinnia. Returning to his family he was met with a back breaking hug from his mother now that he wasn¡¯t wet. It felt weird to him, no warmth or love, it was awkward. He didn¡¯t know this woman. Apparently she knew a whole lot about him though, one of his half sisters had apparently frequented the falls and decided that it was a great opportunity to talk about Donny¡¯s whole home life to his mother. Other members of his large family had come in hopes of attaining Keystones, and he¡¯d been mentioned in passing. ¡°That Charmander of yours is so feisty refused to eat for a while, but it came around.¡± Donny was content here, he hadn''t seen much yet but he had just felt surrounded by dragons, and he was looking forward to his battle with his sister.
